I am just so enjoying the color and superb light we’ve had this autumn. It’s relatively rare here, as October tends to rain and gloom. The deep blue clear skies against the still remaining foliage is just stunning.
On Friday morning I was up at 4:30AM and got my post up. Then I resumed work on the credit card mess. I spent most of the morning on it. I got the kitchen cleaned up and a shower before my #3 helper arrived at 12:30PM.
It was such a beautiful warm day she opted to continue in the New Herb garden. She had reached the area where the weeds had to be dug out, not pulled and this slowed her down considerably.
She worked all afternoon and only managed to clean out 1 more row. Once she gets past the bad weeds, it will go faster, I think. I hoped it would be still warm enough next Friday for her to continue but the forecast is for rain.
My afternoon job was to pick the last of the peas. They’ve been through a couple good frosts, so they are done.
This is all I got, almost enough for supper.
I got a new African violet in February at the Orchid Show on February 22, 2026. I potted it up a week or so later when the African violet mix came in. I put it on the kitchen windowsill and it’s stayed there all day until I have to pull the shades.
In the summer it just stayed there as that window doesn’t get direct sun. It gets fed once a month and watered as needed and has grown some more leaves. They aren’t very big or terribly healthy, but at least it’s still alive.
Late afternoon sun and foliage to the southwest
I didn’t get much else done except cook supper, pull shades watch a movie, and light the wood stove. I was in bed by 9:30PM as the movie ran long.
On Saturday my brother has to put the new (hopefully working) starter in the truck and then my son’s friend and I will load the truck for a trip to the dump. Then we’ll get the bed frame out of the attic and set up in the pink room. He’s going to get a mattress and then he’ll have a room.
If I have any energy/brain power after this I’ll resume work on the credit card mess… If not, maybe I’ll go clean out a garden…
