Algún día diré "no puedo".

Building on my previous work, and based on the premise of silence and those inner questions that arise, I spent some time reflecting in the waiting room: what are these questions that arise? And as we are all thinking, unique individuals, one might surmise that each question ‘could’ be different; however, there are many similarities in these questions, which we ask ourselves every day, this one being the most frequent and even uttered countless times a day.

If you’re curious to know what this question is, I’ll go ahead and tell you without keeping you in suspense any longer.

The question is this: ‘Someday?’ And no… I’m not a witch (I’ve been tested), but just like you, I ask myself this question so many times a day that it feels like a mantra.

1000047801.jpg

And right now you should be thinking about your own ‘someday’ moments from today, for example: Someday I’ll quit this job. Someday I’ll buy a new car. Someday I’ll have a house of my own. Someday I’ll start that diet. Someday I’ll say ‘I can’t’. Someday…

And in the meantime, in that sea of ‘somedays’, we see others actually achieving those goals; in other words, we see the finish line where the runners have finally reached their own ‘someday’, whilst we’re still searching for that second wind to finish the race.

1000047802.jpg

When we reach that point, pessimism sets in: the feeling that we’ll arrive too late, that we’re not good enough, that we lack motivation, courage, the thirst and hunger to excel, vision – and even that we’re not cut out to enjoy the joy of reaching our own goal.

In that moment of pessimism, both our vision and our reason are usually so clouded that we fail to realise those people also began their own race on day one: falling many times, with no money, no connections to smooth their path, and without knowing for certain what they were doing.

1000047803.jpg

But at that moment, none of that is visible; all we see is the reflection of others’ victories, which have not yet come to us.

So, analysing every part, every line and paragraph, in this internal dialogue whilst sitting in the waiting room, I came to a conclusion: The difference isn’t in ceasing to be afraid; it’s in understanding that every dream begins by embracing that fear. Therefore, we must let go of ‘someday’, knowing that we are already living that day, working towards it and understanding that time moves at a different pace for each of us.

If you’ve recognised yourself in this piece, I warmly invite you to share your experience; don’t forget to tag me – I’d love to read what you have to say.

Furthermore, I see these inner questions as an exercise in self-awareness, as this is how I manage my own anxiety: they help me realise that rushing is a mistake and that I must make an effort, enjoy the process and move forward at my own pace and in my own time.

This isn’t a formal exercise, but you’re welcome to try it if you’d like.

Thanks to @holos-lotus for being a source of reflections that help us grow both individually and collectively.

Remember… we’re not a matter of chance; we’re a cause that coexists, forging lasting bonds.
