Good evening and happy Saturday, blog friends! How are you all doing? I’ve come down with a bit of a flu—I have a cough and a cold; I suppose it’s due to the change in season and the sudden arrival of the cold weather. Anyway, it was a quiet day today. Even though it was colder, the sun was out, so we went for a drive and then visited my paternal grandfather. He underwent surgery today to have some polyps removed from his bladder. Unfortunately, this is his second time having this procedure; it’s not easy for him, but at least now everything is cleared out. He’ll have to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation, but that’s for the best—it’s good that they’ll be keeping an eye on him. We didn’t have any specific plans today—my husband was tired from his morning shift, and I’m dealing with this flu—so we headed back home, and I made a simple dish of chicken strips with lentils and a drizzle of oil; it was a tasty and hearty meal. I love both chicken and lentils!
¡Buenas noches y feliz sábado, amigos del blog! ¿Cómo están todos? He cogido una especie de gripe; tengo tos y un resfriado. Supongo que se debe al cambio de estación y a la llegada repentina del frío. En fin, hoy ha sido un día tranquilo. Aunque hacía más frío, salió el sol, así que dimos una vuelta en coche y luego fuimos a visitar a mi abuelo paterno. Hoy le han operado para extirparle unos pólipos de la vejiga. Por desgracia, es la segunda vez que se somete a esta intervención; no es algo fácil para él, pero al menos ya se lo han quitado todo. Tendrá que quedarse unos días en el hospital en observación, pero es lo mejor; es bueno que lo mantengan bajo vigilancia. No teníamos planes concretos para hoy —mi marido estaba cansado tras su turno de mañana y yo estoy lidiando con esta gripe—, así que volvimos a casa y preparé un plato sencillo de tiras de pollo con lentejas y un chorrito de aceite; fue una comida rica y reconfortante. ¡Me encantan tanto el pollo como las lentejas!
The afternoon was just as quiet; I settled onto the sofa, spent some time reading a new thriller that has really hooked me, and then started a delightful, romantic Korean series on Netflix called Start-Up. Naturally, since it’s cold out, all my adorable cats joined me on the sofa—I just had to take some photos of them; aren't they cute? These are my female cats, Valeria and Pimpa. For dinner, I made pulled pork—which I’d found on sale at the supermarket—served with a side of mashed potatoes. I don’t have many plans for this evening either, other than getting some rest, especially since my husband and I are heading out on a little trip tomorrow, and I want to be feeling my best. La tarde transcurrió igual de tranquila; me acomodé en el sofá, pasé un rato leyendo un nuevo thriller que me tiene totalmente enganchada y, después, empecé a ver una serie coreana romántica encantadora en Netflix, titulada Start-Up. Como hace frío, mis adorables gatas se vinieron conmigo al sofá; no pude evitar sacarles unas cuantas fotos, ¿verdad que son una monada? Ellas son mis gatas, Valeria y Pimpa. Para cenar, preparé cerdo desmenuzado —que encontré de oferta en el supermercado— acompañado de puré de patatas. Tampoco tengo muchos planes para esta noche, más allá de descansar, sobre todo porque mañana mi marido y yo nos vamos de viaje, y quiero estar en plena forma. ¡Hasta pronto, amigos del blog!
