Halloween with my worst nightmares and a good dinner./Halloween con mis peores pesadillas y una buena cena. 🎃

Good evening, blog friends—how are you all doing? I’m back with you again. How was your Halloween? I had a fairly quiet evening—and speaking of monsters and nightmares, I spent it with my own. Lately, my depression and anxiety have worsened; I have no desire to do anything. Cleaning, cooking, writing—everything feels like an immense effort, compounded by some physical issues with my back and stomach. It’s so true that the worst monsters aren’t ghosts, witches, or vampires; they’re the monsters we carry within us—those horrible creatures in our own minds, far crueler than anything found in horror movies. It saddens me to be like this; I usually love Halloween—every year I’d dress up and go out—but this year, I just didn’t have the strength. Even getting dressed feels like an impossible, exhausting task. Unfortunately, I’m in the thick of a depressive episode again—damn this illness; anyone who has been through it knows just how hard it is to live with. Still, I managed to make a bit of an effort—I cooked something and even put on some makeup in the evening to welcome the children who came by for trick-or-treating.

Anyway, I still put some effort into making dinner—at least it helped take my mind off things a bit. I had a pork shank in the fridge, so I cleaned it, seasoned it, and after a good two hours of cooking, it was ready; it takes a long time, but the result is well worth it. For a side dish, I made some simple buttered beans. Unfortunately, not many children stopped by, since we don’t live near the town center. In the evening, my husband and I had a horror movie marathon—we rewatched the Amityville series; after all, what’s Halloween without horror movies? I didn’t do much else during the day, other than swapping cat photos with my mom—the cat you see in the picture is her adorable Nanny. I hope to feel better soon, my blog friends. Have a great Sunday!
