Sundays are usually the most peaceful days when we’re at home—those days when our bodies finally slow down and our minds settle into a much-appreciated state of calm. They can also turn into days full of fun when we get together, when family or friends gather and the house fills with conversation, laughter, and impromptu plans. That’s why I always hope everyone’s Sunday is great—filled with good times, rest, or exciting plans, depending on what each person needs. This past Saturday was a simple but very productive day. After resting a bit at home, my husband and I decided to go out to run some errands and fill up on gas, because we like to have everything ready for a relaxed, worry-free Sunday. For me, a Sunday with no pending tasks is almost a gift—an opportunity to take a deep breath and enjoy the peace and quiet that I value so much. I’ll tell you that the wonderful weather continues, and when I say “wonderful,” I mean that it’s not raining, because the humidity doesn’t agree with me very well. This week was a little tough for me because of my allergies; my bronchial tubes were acting up, and any change in the weather affected me. But I’m getting over them, little by little, and this weekend’s rest has been a big help. Sometimes the body just needs a break, a breather, a day without demands to feel balanced again. We left the house after lunch, because at that time the weather is usually nice and warm, and I needed to soak up a little sun. I like to make the most of those moments when the day is radiant, not only because it lifts my spirits, but also because I always find something beautiful to photograph. The city, even in its daily routine, has spots that sparkle when the sun hits them just right, and I love capturing those moments that make the walk even more special.
Los domingos suelen ser los días más tranquilos cuando estamos en casa, esos días en los que el cuerpo por fin baja el ritmo y la mente se acomoda en un estado de calma que tanto se agradece. También pueden convertirse en días de gran ocurrencia cuando nos juntamos, cuando la familia o los amigos coinciden y la casa se llena de conversaciones, risas y planes improvisados. Por eso siempre deseo que el domingo de cada uno sea genial, que esté lleno de buenos momentos, de descanso o de grandes planes, según lo que cada quien necesite. Este sábado que recién culminó fue un día sencillo pero muy provechoso. Después de descansar un poco en casa, mi esposo y yo decidimos salir para hacer algunas compras y colocar combustible, porque nos gusta dejar todo listo para tener un domingo relajado y sin preocupaciones. Para mí, un domingo sin pendientes es casi un regalo, una oportunidad para respirar profundo y disfrutar de la tranquilidad que tanto valoro. Les cuento que continúa el clima maravilloso, y cuando digo maravilloso me refiero a que no llueva, porque la humedad no me hace muy bien. Esta semana fue un poco difícil para mí con las alergias; los bronquios estuvieron resentidos y cualquier cambio de clima me afectaba. Pero ya las voy superando, poco a poco, y el descanso de este fin de semana me ha servido de gran ayuda. A veces el cuerpo solo necesita una pausa, un respiro, un día sin exigencias para volver a sentirse en equilibrio. Salimos de casa después de almorzar, porque a esa hora el clima suele estar bien calentito y yo necesitaba tomar un poco de sol. Me gusta aprovechar esos momentos en los que el día está radiante, no solo porque me anima, sino porque siempre encuentro algo bonito que fotografiar. La ciudad, incluso en su rutina, tiene rincones que brillan cuando el sol cae de cierta manera, y me encanta capturar esos instantes que hacen que el recorrido sea más especial.
We went to several places to buy the things we needed. That’s quite common this time of year, when high demand for certain products means you have to go from store to store to find what you’re looking for. But we do it patiently, because we’re used to it by now and because, in the end, we always manage to figure it out.
Recorrimos varios lugares para poder comprar las cosas que necesitábamos. Eso es algo muy normal en estas temporadas, cuando la demanda de algunos productos hace que uno tenga que ir de tienda en tienda para encontrar lo que busca. Pero lo hacemos con paciencia, porque ya estamos acostumbrados y porque al final siempre logramos resolver.
And of course, if we take a tour of the city and my husband doesn’t have a delicious chicha, it’s as if he hadn’t even gone out. So he had his nice glass—nice and cold and thick, just the way he likes it. I love it too, but since I still have a cold in my bronchial tubes, I’m avoiding very cold foods and dairy products until my allergies get better. I’ll have my chance to enjoy it as usual soon enough.
Y claro, si damos un recorrido por la ciudad y mi esposo no se toma una deliciosa chicha, para él es como si no hubiera salido. Así que se tomó su buen vaso, bien frío y espeso como le gusta. A mí me encanta también, pero como aún tengo los bronquios resfriados, estoy evitando las cosas muy frías y los lácteos hasta que las alergias estén mejores. Ya tendré mi momento para disfrutarla como siempre.
With our shopping done, we stopped to fill up on gas and then set off on the drive home, taking in the beautiful scenery on this glorious Saturday. The sky was clear, the light was warm, and everything had that special glow that makes you feel grateful for the simple things.
Con nuestras compras hechas, fuimos a colocar combustible y luego emprendimos el camino de regreso a casa, apreciando los hermosos paisajes de este sábado radiante. El cielo estaba despejado, la luz era cálida y todo tenía ese brillo especial que hace que uno se sienta agradecido por lo simple.
