Mi reseña de la película Colette (Liberación y Deseo) (ESP-ENG)

Saludos, amigos cinéfilos. Comparto en esta oportunidad, la reseña de una película que quería ver desde hace tiempo y lo había olvidado. Me pasa con frecuencia que anoto en algún papel de mi escritorio películas por ver, canciones que escuchar y, luego, lo pierdo o lo boto a la basura, sin darme cuenta cuando hago limpieza. Así es como en esos papelitos se van esas anotaciones pendientes y que muchas veces llevan recomendaciones muy especiales, como la de esta película. Mi hija me la había recomendado, creo que hace dos años ya, y deseaba mucho verla, pero el tiempo pasa inexorablemente y no nos percatamos de eso hasta que contamos y esas cuentas nos sorprenden.

Greetings, cinephile friends. This time I share with you the review of a movie I wanted to see for a long time and I had forgotten about it. It often happens to me that I write down on a piece of paper on my desk movies to watch, songs to listen to, and then I lose it or throw it away, without realizing it when I clean up. That's how those little pieces of paper are lost and often contain very special recommendations, such as this movie. My daughter had recommended it to me, I think two years ago, and I wanted to see it very much, but time passes inexorably and we don't realize it until we count and those accounts surprise us.

A principio de este mes, gracias a un regalito que recibimos, tuvimos acceso a HBO Max, la plataforma de servicio de streaming que queríamos tener para disfrutar de series y películas distintas a las que encontramos en Netflix o en Disney Plus. Y es que, a veces, yo, particularmente, no encuentro un título en Netflix que me atrape en medio de una búsqueda y pasada media hora del tiempo que dispongo los fines de semana para acceder y disfrutar de estas plataformas, desisto de mi plan de sentarme a ver una película. Para evitar eso y ahorrarme el tiempo, siempre le pido recomendaciones a mi hija y a mis amigos para ir por lo seguro.

At the beginning of this month, thanks to a little gift we received, we had access to HBO Max, the streaming service platform we wanted to have to enjoy series and movies other than those found on Netflix or Disney Plus. And is that sometimes, I, particularly, do not find a title on Netflix that catches me in the middle of a search and after half an hour of the time I have on weekends to access and enjoy these platforms, I give up my plan to sit down and watch a movie. To avoid that and save me the time, I always ask my daughter and friends for recommendations to play it safe.

Este fin de semana, estuve muy ocupada, sin embargo tenía pendiente hacer una reseña de película para compartir con mis amigos de Exprésate, así que encontré el tiempo y accedí a la aplicación de HBO Max, puse en el buscador Colette para ver si aparecía y ¡alegría! la encontré.

This weekend, I was very busy, however I had pending to do a movie review to share with my friends of Exprésate, so I found the time and accessed the HBO Max app, I put in the search engine Colette to see if it appeared and joy! I found it.

Colette (Liberación y Deseo) reúne dos caracterísitcas que me atrapan a la hora de escoger una película o serie: es una película de época y, además, está basada en hechos reales, pues en este filme se relata la vida de la novelista francesa Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, a finales del siglo 19. Ver estas películas de época me permiten viajar en el tiempo, me imagino que soy parte de ellas y disfruto de la ambientación, tal cual como si estuviera ahí presente, contemplando idílicos paisajes.

Colette (Liberation and Desire) has two characteristics that catch me when choosing a film or series: it is a period film and, in addition, it is based on real events, since this film recounts the life of the French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, at the end of the 19th century. Watching these period films allows me to travel back in time, I imagine I am part of them and I enjoy the setting, as if I were there, contemplating idyllic landscapes.

Colette (Liberación y Deseo) nos cuenta la historia de una mujer adelantada para su época. Una joven que perseguiría su sueño en medio de una sociedad machista y conservadora. Una de las frases que me gustaron en esta película es precisamente, la afirmación de Colette: "Perseguiré mis sueños porque es lo que quiero" . Podemos ver en esta frase el ímpetu arraigado de esta joven inteligente, tenaz y romántica. Y aunque pudiéramos pensar que la sensibilidad y el romanticismo, sentimientos que se asocian per se a las mujeres de esa y de todas las épocas, la hubieran podido atar a un hombre nefasto y deshonesto, ella pudo hacer valer sus sentimientos y pensamientos y a apartarse de él, luego de varias decepciones y desilusiones.

Colette (Liberation and Desire) tells the story of a woman ahead of her time. A young woman who would pursue her dream in the midst of a macho and conservative society. One of the phrases that I liked in this film is precisely Colette's statement: "I will pursue my dreams because that is what I want". We can see in this phrase the deep-rooted impetus of this intelligent, tenacious and romantic young woman. And although we might think that sensitivity and romanticism, feelings that are associated per se with women of that and all times, could have tied her to a nefarious and dishonest man, she was able to assert her feelings and thoughts and to turn away from him, after several disappointments and disillusionments.

La esencia de Colette estaba en ser una mujer diferente, arrojada, decidida. Su madre, también una mujer fuera de época, fue quien la animó desde joven a ser fuerte, a decir y defender sus pensamientos, a no tolerar lo que no le gustara y a huir de lo que significara dependencia y dolor. Me gustó mucho esta relación entre madre e hija.

Colette's essence was in being a different, bold, determined woman. Her mother, also a woman out of time, was the one who encouraged her from a young age to be strong, to say and defend her thoughts, to not tolerate what she did not like, and to flee from what meant dependence and pain. I really liked this relationship between mother and daughter.

Colette se descubrió escritora a la fuerza, obligada por su marido. Así, Colette escribió la novela Claudine en el colegio, una historia autobiográfica en la que contaba de sus días de infancia y juventud que fue todo un éxito. Esta novela se convirtió, para las jóvenes de la época, en un estilo de vida, todas querían imitar a Claudine.

Colette discovered herself as a writer by force, forced by her husband. Thus, Colette wrote the novel Claudine at school, an autobiographical story in which she told of her childhood and youth, which was a success. This novel became, for the young girls of the time, a way of life, they all wanted to imitate Claudine.

La novela Claudine en el colegio tuvo un gran éxito en medio de esa sociedad de finales del siglo 19 porque estaba escrita con la pluma de una mujer y su voz revelaba el sentir femenino con honestidad, con franqueza; invitaba a ver la vida de una forma distinta a la acostumbrada, sin tabúes.

The novel Claudine at school was a great success in the midst of that late 19th-century society because it was written with the pen of a woman and her voice revealed the feminine feeling with honesty, with frankness; it invited to see life in a different way than usual, without taboos.

Esta es una película que exalta el ser mujer y la lucha que a lo largo de los años se ha mantenido por la defensa de nuestros derechos, de nuestros ideales y de nuestros sueños.

This is a film that exalts being a woman and the struggle over the years to defend our rights, our ideals and our dreams.
