Blonde: one woman's story echoes nearly a century after the heyday of the Hollywood Blonde
Hello to everyone in the Movies & TV Shows community! Today I finally bring you my review of the Marilyn Monroe movie, which blew me away.
I had read two reviews around here, one by @jcrodriguez and the other by @soldierofdreams, and decided to leave them halfway through because I was so interested in seeing the movie and wanted to be blown away.
However, after my reading, for a moment I suspected that I wasn't going to like it, but luckily I didn't.
This drama that tells us in a way the life of Marilyn, the iconic actress of the 50's, turns out that it blew me away, wanting to know more about her life.
I could read in their reviews that there are several theories revolving around her death, and that, after watching the movie, led me to think that what they have shown in the film, may be tinged with a lot of fiction, exaggerations and even information that for some source has been convenient to expose (or obviate).

Hola a todos en la comunidad de Movies & TV Shows! Hoy al fin les traigo mi reseña de la película de Marilyn Monroe, que me dejó boquiabierta.
Había leído dos reseñas por aquí, una de @jcrodriguez y la otra de @soldierofdreams, y decidí dejarlas a medias porque estaba muy interesada en ver la película y quería que me sorprendiera.
Sin embargo, tras mi lectura, por un momento sospeché que no fuera a gustarme, pero, por suerte, no fue así.
Este drama que nos cuenta en cierto modo la vida de Marilyn, la icónica actriz de los años 50, resulta que me dejó boquiabierta, queriendo saber más sobre su vida.
Pude leer en sus reseñas que hay varias teorías que giran en torno a su muerte, y eso, tras ver la película, me llevó a pensar que lo que han mostrado en el film, puede estar teñido de mucha ficción, exageraciones e incluso información que para alguna fuente haya sido conveniente exponer (u obviar).
I found the film complex. I found her life complex. To give my opinion, I will only focus on this story, since as I mentioned in some commentary, I knew nothing about the life of Norma Jane, who is really Marilyn Monroe.
In 1950 we have a beautiful woman with a painful story. In truth Norma Jane was a child who ended up growing up in an orphanage after her mother's alcoholism and her father's abandonment, but she still had the resilience to go out into the world to pursue her dream.
The point is that we are dealing with a woman who creates a character she loves, to whom she is willing to give everything, which is her own life.
Norma Jane would do whatever it takes to position Marilyn in the world of Hollywood, and in the story we see a constant "tug of war" between Norma Jane, Marilyn and the third parties that appear in her life, who also had some kind of interest in her.
La película me pareció compleja. Su vida me pareció compleja. Para dar mi opinión, solo me enfocaré en esta historia, ya que como mencioné en algún comentario, yo no sabía nada de la vida de Norma Jane, quien es en verdad Marilyn Monroe.
En 1950 tenemos a una mujer preciosa con una historia dolorosa. En verdad Norma Jane fue una niña que temrinó creciendo en un orfanato tras el alcoholismo de su madre y el abandono de su padre, pero aún así cntó con la resiliencia necesaria para salir al mundo a perseguir su sueño.
El tema es que nos encontramos ante una mujer que crea un personaje al que ama, al cual está dispuesta a darle todo, que es su propia vida.
Norma Jane haría lo necesario para poder posicionar a Marilyn en el mundo de Hollywood, y en la historia vemos un constante tire y afloje entre Norma Jane, Marilyn y los terceros que van apareciendo en su vida, que también tenían algún tipo de interés para con ella.
Norma Jane is a strong but sensitive, romantic, persistent and committed woman; and Marilyn is a sensual and sexual, attractive, powerful woman.
In order to attain that character in her own life, what the film shows is a woman who has to go through everything, and who not only has, but chooses to go through everything in order to reach her goal. Thus, with an air of a certain naiveté and resignation, Norma Jane yields time and again to the traps of fame, which threaten to remove her from the game board if she refuses to take whatever step they are demanding at the time.
Norma Jane es una mujer fuerte pero sensible, romántica, persistente y comprometida; y Marilyn es una mujer sensual y sexual, atractiva, poderosa.
Para llegar a obtener ese personaje en su propia vida, lo que muestra la película es a una mujer que tiene que pasar por todo, y que no solo tiene, sino que elige pasar por todo para poder alcanzar su objetivo. De este modo, con un aire de cierta ingenuidad y resignación, Norma Jane cede una y otra vez a las trampas de la fama, que amenazan con retirarla del tablero de juego si se niega a dar el paso que sea que estén demandando en su momento.
I do not consider myself a militant feminist like many women in Argentina, my country, but I do defend women and our rights. For this reason, this film is quite profound, because it not only exposes what women had to go through in many occasions to get higher (it is true that there have always been those who have gone beyond their values and I agree with this position), but the truth is that many women went through this in their professional lives, many who perhaps really believed that there was no other way. And many in their personal lives, putting up with battering husbands like this woman, who besides being Marilyn Monroe, was just another human being, with a life, desires and fears. Well... she was a human being first, wasn't she?
I think this is often if not almost always forgotten by paparazzi, journalists, photographers, fans and even people not so far from the stars. I've listened to several interviews of other celebrities, and many times they make reference to this. Luckily there has apparently been a change in this, and I think that cases like Marilyn's have been teaching new stars the way to succeed even with a private life, and the way to... crash. Unfortunately there are many cases that have ended dramatically at a young age.
Another point that the film touches on is the subject of abortion. It is very extensive and I do not want to fall into extending my personal position, which is variable. Although I am more against than in favor, I believe that there are cases such as rape in which the woman should have the right to choose, but well, this topic gives for several publications and I am not an expert on it, I only speak as a woman.
Anyway, in this film, the subject comes up quite a lot, constantly giving a pro-life message. As I like all opinions, I like diversity, I enjoyed that its creators had taken a stand on this and were encouraged to share it.
Although Marilyn first wants to have an abortion, then she regrets it and in the end they show her as a victim of a system that would benefit little from her pregnancy (so they imply that she is forced to have a second abortion), despite all this, the speech that accompanies the film tells us about innocent lives and more that I don't remember exactly.
Finally, another theme they touch on is... I wouldn't say poly-love, but almost, because they show Marilyn in a loving and seemingly stable relationship with two men, where the three of them, by mutual agreement, are together. I loved this. I don't know if she was the first famous woman to show herself publicly in such an unconventional relationship (if so, a big extra round of applause for Norma Jane), but to show us that this has been going on for quite some time and that it was already being made public (and of course, that they also present censorship in the face of freedom), I think it's extraordinary.
No me considero feminista militante como muchas mujeres de Argentina, mi país, pero sí defiendo a la mujer y a nuestros derechos. Por esto, esta película mide llegó bastante profundo, porque no solamente expone a lo que en numerosas ocasiones la mujer tenía que atravesar para llegar más arriba (está bien que siempre han estado aquellas que jsmás han pasado por sobre sus valores y adhiero a esta postura), pero la verdad es que muchas pasaron por eso en su vida profesional, muchas que quizás realmente creían que no había otro camino. Y muchas en sus vidas personales, soportando a maridos golpeadores como también le pasó a esta mujer, que además de ser Marilyn Monroe, era un ser humano más, con una vida, unos deseos y unos temores. Bueno… eso de ser humano, lo fue primero, ¿no?
Creo que de esto se olvidan muchas veces sino casi siempre los paparazzis, periodistas, fotógrafos, fanáticos e incluso personas no tan lejanas a las estrellas. He escuchado varias entrevistas de otros famosos, y muchas veces hacen referencia a esto. Por suerte aparentemente ha habido un cambio en esto, y creo que también casos como el de Marilyn le han ido enseñando a las nuevas estrellas el camino para triunfar aún con una vida privada, y el camino para… estrellarse. Lamentablemente son muchos los casos que han terminado de manera dramática a edades jóvenes.
Otro punto que toca la película es el tema del aborto. Es muy extenso y no quiero caer en extender mi postura personal, que es variable. Aunque estoy más en contra que a favor, creo que hay casos como una violación en que la mujer debe tener derecho a elegir, pero bueno, este tema da para varias publicaciones y no soy experta en ello, solo hablo como mujer.
Igualmente en este film, el tema sale bastante, dando constantemente un mensaje pro-vida. Como me gustan todas las opiniones, me gusta la diversidad, disfruté que sus creadores hubiesen tomado postura ante esto y se hubiesen animado a compartirla.
Aunque Marilyn primero quiere abortar, luego se arrepiente y al final la muestran como una víctima de un sistema que poco se vería beneficiado con su embarazo (por lo que dan a entender que la obligan a abortar una segunda vez), a pesar de todo esto, el discurso que acompaña a la película nos habla de las vidas inocentes y más que no recuerdo exactamente.
Finalmente, otro tema que tocan es… no diría el poli-amor, pero casi, porque muestran a Marilyn en una relación amorosa y en apariencia estable con dos hombres, en donde los tres, de común acuerdo, están juntos. Me encantó esto. No se si habrá sido ella la primera mujer famosa en mostrarse públicamente en una relación tan poco convencional (si es así, un gran aplauso extra para Norma Jane), pero que nos muestren que esto viene desde hace bastante y que ya se estaba haciendo público (y claro, que también presenten la censura ante la libertad), creo que es extraordinario.
As you can see, I loved the movie. I really enjoyed learning about Marilyn Monroe's life and I loved that its creators introduced current issues, making it clear that what we think is from now, in truth has been trying to be overcome for years.
Como verán, la película me encantó. Me gustó muchísimo saber de la vida de Marilyn Monroe y me encantó que sus creadores introdujeran temas de la actualidad, dejando bien en claro que eso que creemos que es de ahora, en verdad lleva años intentando ser superado.
