One of the series of the moment in the Netflix streaming platform, which has good acceptance among fans of Viking history, thanks to the series that preceded it. I decided to watch it, not because it was trending, in fact, much of what is trending in my country I don't like it, but when I saw that it was about Vikings, I didn't think twice, because it has always caught my attention how these Nordic peoples, forged their own empire, and were among the first visitors to the American continent.

Antecendents
The first time I saw a movie about Vikings was Pathfinder in 2007, I remember going to the movies to see it and leaving enchanted, maybe you do not identify it by its name in English, but in Latin America it was called Conquistadores. I do not remember if it was popular, but I loved it, because it combined the story of two peoples that always caught my attention, the American Indian and the Vikings; where a Viking excursion in America leaves behind a child who is adopted and raised by the natives, to later become their savior.
La primera vez que vi una película sobre vikingos fue Pathfinder en el año 2007, recuerdo haber ido al cine a verla y salir encantado, quizás no la identifiquen por su nombre en inglés, pero en Latino América se le llamo Conquistadores. That movie left me with the intrigue to know if this crossbreeding between peoples had really happened, so doing research I learned that indeed the Viking had arrived much earlier to the continent than the English and Spanish. Thanks to this research I learned that the Viking stories are based on the Gesta Danorum books that were written in the 8th century by Saxo Grammaticus Danish historian, who tells about the Viking sagas in the form of prose, obviously exaggerating the "exploits" of the great Vikings of history.
I learned that the exaggeration of such exploits is due to the importance that the Vikings gave to their deeds in order to be remembered, because for them it was important to have a reputation among their people and that their name was known for generations, that stories were told and sung about their exploits, that is how Saxo knows the story 200 years later and writes it, being immortalized for our time. Likewise, these sagas mention Leif Erikson, protagonist of the series, and important character among the Viking peoples, who according to Saxon was the first Viking to visit America, whose family became related to the Native Americans.

It will not be easy for this series to stand out, after the success of its predecessor, especially if your audience had the opportunity to see it, because you will notice that the facts of both are very similar: struggles between power factions, everyone wants the crown, the arrival to England, Christianity stalking them to convert and stop being pagans, the fierce fights and the characteristic Viking plundering, all this is found in both series, then you could conclude that it is more of the same, or just enjoy watching it as a continuation chronologically speaking of the first series.
