Hello movie and TV lovers in hive, today once again I share with you my opinion about the fifth episode of the series based on the video game, The Last Of Us and if you haven't seen it yet then I invite you to do so as I will talk with spoilers in this post. Inicio/Beginning
Comenzando el episodio nos muestran parte de lo que fue la llegada de FEDRA a Kansas y como los grupos de sobrevivientes acaban con ellos, de igual manera nos muestran como Kathleen la líder de la resistencia busca a Henry desesperadamente sin importar quien muriera por dar con su paradero. Mientras tanto Henry y Sam buscan un lugar donde esconderse de todo y evitar que los grupos armados de Kathleen los encuentren, consiguen un ático con la ayuda de un viejo amigo y ahí pasan los días hasta que acaben los enfrentamientos entre FEDRA y los grupos de Kathleen, escondidos y con hambre planean salir para poder huir de la ciudad pero primero deben lidiar con un par de intrusos.
Una forma espléndida de mostrar la crueldad con las cuales los grupos de FEDRA atacaban a los ciudadanos y a pesar de que cayeron el pueblo sería manejado por una nueva tiranía o quizás no, dependiendo del punto de vista de las personas. Una forma espléndida de que veamos ambos lados de la historia y entendamos las razones de ambos, haciendo que no existan ni buenos ni malos sino sobrevivientes.
Beginning the episode we are shown part of what was the arrival of FEDRA to Kansas and how the groups of survivors finish with them, in the same way we are shown how Kathleen the leader of the resistance is desperately looking for Henry no matter who died to find his whereabouts. Meanwhile Henry and Sam look for a place to hide from everything and avoid Kathleen's armed groups to find them, they get an attic with the help of an old friend and there they spend the days until the confrontations between FEDRA and Kathleen's groups end, hidden and hungry they plan to leave to flee the city but first they must deal with a couple of intruders.
A splendid way to show the cruelty with which the FEDRA groups attacked the citizens and even though they fell the town would be run by a new tyranny or maybe not, depending on the point of view of the people. A splendid way for us to see both sides of the story and understand the reasons for both, making it so that there are neither good guys nor bad guys but survivors.
El quinto episodio titulado "Resistir y Sobrevivir " se estrenó el viernes 10 de febrero a las 10 pm (Venezuela) tanto en los canales HBO cómo en su plataforma HBOMAX y cuenta con una duración de 59 minutos. En este episodio nos centramos en la alianza que realizan Joel y Henry para poder escapar a salvos de la ciudad de Kansas y poder huir de los grupos militares armados de Kathleen, mientras que ésta está cada vez más cerca de conseguir a su objetivo Henry y hacerlo pagar por un crimen que cometió en su contra.
De nuevo se unen a éste episodio el personaje de Kathleen (interpretada por Melanie Lynskey) quien es la líder de un grupo rebelde, Perry (Interpretado por Jeffrey Pierce, quien hace al personaje de Tommy en el videojuego) y mayor participación de Henry (interpretado por Lamar Johnson) y Sam (interpretado por Keivonn Woodard), además de nuestros protagonistas Joel (Pedro Pascal) y Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
The fifth episode entitled "Endure and Survive" premiered on Friday, February 10 at 10 pm (Venezuela) both on HBO channels and on its platform HBOMAX and has a duration of 59 minutes. In this episode we focus on the alliance that Joel and Henry make in order to escape safely from Kansas City and to flee from Kathleen's armed military groups, while she is getting closer to get her target Henry and make him pay for a crime he committed against her.
Joining us again in this episode are Kathleen (played by Melanie Lynskey) who is the leader of a rebel group, Perry (played by Jeffrey Pierce, who plays Tommy in the video game) and more participation from Henry (played by Lamar Johnson) and Sam (played by Keivonn Woodard), in addition to our main characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
Un episodio bastante oscuro el cual da continuación a la emboscada de Henry y Sam a Joel y Ellie quienes estaban durmiendo, tenemos mayor explicación de la historia de Henry y Sam y su relación además del por qué es el hombre más buscado en la ciudad. Un episodio muy equilibrado tanto del lado de la acción como de la potencia en la historia y en como está afectaría al espectador, tanto la crueldad humana en la escena de los ciudadanos asesinados por los grupos armados de Kathleen como el miedo, la incertidumbre y la fortaleza de Henry y Sam para continuar adelante con sus vidas.
La historia de Henry y Sam en el juego es bastante conmovedora, la forma en la que el hermano mayor busca proteger a toda costa la vida del hermano menor y conseguir que éste pueda vivir una aparente vida normal pero en la adaptación la hacen muchísimo más fuerte, Henry descubre que Sam tiene leucemia y debe conseguir el medicamento a toda costa, haciendo que su relación sea aún más estrecha también por el hecho de que éste es sordo.
A rather dark episode which follows Henry and Sam's ambush of Joel and Ellie who were sleeping, we get more explanation of Henry and Sam's history and their relationship as well as why he is the most wanted man in town. A very balanced episode both on the action side and the power in the story and how it would affect the viewer, both the human cruelty in the scene of the citizens killed by Kathleen's armed groups and the fear, uncertainty and strength of Henry and Sam to move on with their lives.
The story of Henry and Sam in the game is quite touching, the way in which the older brother seeks to protect the life of the younger brother at all costs and get him to live a seemingly normal life but in the adaptation make it much, much stronger, Henry discovers that Sam has leukemia and must get the medicine at all costs, making their relationship even closer also by the fact that this one is deaf.
A pesar de que se tuvo que adaptar el capítulo para que fuera tanto más corto como para que tuviera sentido el rumbo de la historia de la serie, me refiero a una parte del juego en donde el grupo de Joel y de Henry queda separado, tuvo bien manejado el avance de la historia y de las relaciones de nuestros personajes, pudimos ver a Joel bajar un poco la guardia con Henry a pesar de que seguía sin confiar en el y pudimos ver una faceta diferente de ellie, comportándose como una niña y bajando la guardia después de tantos altercados que tuvieron en el camino, la vemos riendo y jugando con Sam mostrándonos una vez más que eso es lo que ella es sin importar todos los horrores que ha visto, ella sigue siendo una niña.
Completamente emotivo y desgarrador no solo con la historia de Sam y Henry sino por toda la destrucción y horror que después de que estuvo contenido por mucho tiempo logro salir y destruirlo todo.
Although the chapter had to be adapted to make it shorter and to make sense of the direction of the story of the series, I mean a part of the game where the group of Joel and Henry is separated, it had well handled the advancement of the story and the relationships of our characters, we got to see Joel let his guard down a bit with Henry even though he still didn't trust him and we got to see a different side of ellie, behaving like a child and letting her guard down after so many altercations they had along the way, we see her laughing and playing with Sam showing us once again that that is who she is no matter all the horrors she has seen, she is still a child.
Completely emotional and heartbreaking not only with the story of Sam and Henry but for all the destruction and horror that after being contained for a long time managed to come out and destroy everything.
Otra escena que fue totalmente increíble y de la cual hay que hacer mención honorífica tanto a los maquilladores como a los actores extras fue la escena del gordinflon como lo llamaban en el juego (también conocido como Bloated) un infectado de un tamaño descomunal el cual se dice que es un infectado que tiene vida desde el inicio de la pandemia y simplemente ha mutado. Su aparición hizo que tanto los que ya jugamos el juego como los que están viendo la serie sin saber absolutamente quedaran impactados y con miedo, por supuesto es completamente válido debido a que este es uno de los infectados más peligrosos y difíciles de matar y para agregarle más emoción a la escena salieron todos los infectados que FEDRA se encargó de meter bajo tierra, sin duda una escena totalmente increíble sobretodo por el trabajo de los maquillistas y por la forma en la que lo grabaron.
Another scene that was totally incredible and of which we must make honorable mention to both the makeup artists and the extra actors was the scene of the Bloated as it was called in the game, an infected of an enormous size which is said to be an infected that has been alive since the beginning of the pandemic and has simply mutated. His appearance made both those who already played the game and those who are watching the series without knowing absolutely were shocked and scared, of course it is completely valid because this is one of the most dangerous and difficult to kill infected and to add more excitement to the scene came out all the infected that FEDRA was responsible for putting underground, certainly a totally incredible scene especially for the work of the makeup artists and the way they recorded it.
Ya llegando al final del capítulo nos cuentan la razón por la que Henry es el hombre más buscado en Kansas City y esto es porque el entrego al hermano de Kathleen a FEDRA a cambio de unos medicamentos para su hermano Sam quien padecía de leucemia, un intercambio que atormentaba a Henry debido a que este apreciaba a el hermano de Kathleen y creo que podría ser una forma más de describir la frase "las cosas que hacemos por amor" ya que luego Kathleen buscaba vengar a su hermano debido a que lo quería mucho y no le importaba acabar con la vida de Sam y Henry, un fuerte desenlace en la historia de ésta líder de supervivientes.
Logrando escapar muestran que Ellie y Sam son ahora más unidos pero algo cambia, Sam teme que las personas que fueron mordidas sigan dentro después de transformarse, un pensamiento fuerte y horrible que si nos ponemos a pensar un poco podría tener algo de razón dentro de todo ello. Realizando una fiel adaptación al juego la historia de Sam y Henry llega a su final, Sam está infectado y para evitar más dolor a su hermano Henry le dispara pero luego cae en cuenta de lo que ha hecho y decide suicidarse. Un final demoledor y triste el cual nos trae este episodio, dejándonos un sabor agridulce y el dolor de haber perdido a dos personas buenas. Una vez más Joel y Ellie deciden continuar con su viaje, con los corazones destruídos y con recuerdos que difícilmente olvidaran sobre estos dos hermanos que solo intentaban buscar una vida mejor.
By the end of the chapter we are told the reason why Henry is the most wanted man in Kansas City and this is because he gave Kathleen's brother to FEDRA in exchange for some drugs for his brother Sam who was suffering from leukemia, An exchange that tormented Henry because he appreciated Kathleen's brother and I think it could be one more way to describe the phrase "the things we do for love" because Kathleen then sought to avenge her brother because she loved him very much and did not mind ending the lives of Sam and Henry, a strong denouement in the story of this leader of survivors.
Managing to escape show that Ellie and Sam are now closer but something changes, Sam fears that the people who were bitten are still inside after transforming, a strong and horrible thought that if we think a little could have some reason in all of it. Making a faithful adaptation to the game the story of Sam and Henry reaches its end, Sam is infected and to avoid more pain to his brother Henry shoots him but then realizes what he has done and decides to commit suicide. A shattering and sad ending which brings us this episode, leaving us with a bittersweet taste and the pain of having lost two good people. Once again Joel and Ellie decide to continue their journey, with destroyed hearts and with memories they will hardly forget about these two siblings who were only trying to find a better life.
