Hablemos del cast de esta película, contamos con dos grandes actores de la pantalla grande como lo son Eddie Redmayne haciendo a Charlie Cullen y a Jessica Chastain en el papel de Amy Loughren, ambos haciendo una increíble labor actoral en este film basado en hechos reales.
Nuestra protagonista, Amy Loughren, quien sufre de miocardiopatía y quién debe esperar a que pasen 6 meses más en su trabajo como enfermera para poder conseguir un seguro médico y ser operada se encuentra con el nuevo enfermero del hospital, llamado Charlie Cullen, quien parece ser un joven amable y trabajador pero que luego se verá envuelto en un misterio sobre la muerte de dos pacientes del hospital, lo que no sabe Amy es que pasará a ser parte importante para la investigación sobre este extraño enfermero.

La trama gira en torno a Amy quien es madre soltera y tiene una enfermedad del corazón y la única cura sería un transplante, ella cada vez teniendo menos fuerzas resiste hasta que consigue pasar otros seis meses trabajando para poder conseguir un seguro médico y poderse realizar el transplante, en medio de esto el hospital donde trabaja contrata a un nuevo enfermero llamado Charlie, el cual aparenta ser normal pero luego de que dos personas murieran de manera inexplicable y se abriera un caso policial al respecto este comienza a ser el centro de atención de la policía y la nueva preocupación de Amy.

Podría describir esta película como angustiante, no hay nada que me aterre más que una persona en un puesto de poder haciendo atrocidades como las que realizó Charlie. A medida que iba a viendo la película simplemente se sentía cada vez más asfixiante y la ansiedad crecía cada que Amy tenía alguna interacción con Charlie y aunque al principio estás interacciones se sentían normales cuando ya sabes quién es el se sienten aterradoras. Sin embargo siento que fue una gran película biografica y que las actuaciones estuvieron totalmente extraordinarias, la actuación de Jessica por supuesto sigue siendo estupenda y la actuación de Eddie cada vez me sorprende mas ya que solo conozco algunos de sus trabajos pero eran trabajos donde era una persona completamente diferente, obviamente por los papeles y el rol que tenía que tomar, sin embargo siento que el es un actor un poco camaleónico ya que así como lo puedes ver como un defensor de criaturas fantasticas en animales fantásticos también puede ponerse en los zapatos de un asesino y actuar como si todo estuviera bajo control, sobretodo en las escenas explosivas simplemente increíbles.
I could describe this movie as distressing, there is nothing that terrifies me more than a person in a position of power doing atrocities like Charlie did. As I watched the movie it just felt more and more suffocating and the anxiety grew every time Amy had any interaction with Charlie and although at first these interactions felt normal when you know who he is they feel terrifying. However I feel it was a great biopic and the performances were totally outstanding, Jessica's performance of course is still great and Eddie's performance amazes me more and more as I only know some of his work but they were jobs where he was a completely different person, obviously because of the roles and the role he had to take, however I feel he is a bit of a chameleon actor as well as you can see him as a defender of fantastic creatures in fantastic animals he can also put himself in the shoes of a killer and act as if everything is under control, especially in the explosive scenes just amazing.
Antes de ver la película no tenía conocimiento de este suceso ni mucho menos sobre este asesino en serie, me pareció un trabajo increíble el como adaptaron eso al cine y como transmitieron la ansiedad del momento hasta el espectador, en mi caso estaba con el corazón latiendo muy rápido jajaja, diciendo todo esto siento que fue una historia muy controversial sin duda por el hecho de que estuvo en más de 9 hospitales en donde hubieron incluso más muertes que en el último y aún así las autoridades de los hospitales simplemente decidieran despedirlo, una vez más el sistema haciendo caso omiso a situaciones extrañas y más aún por no querer comprometer la reputación del hospital. Aún después de todo esto lo que más me lleno de escalofríos fue el hecho de que Charlie dijo que no tenía motivos para hacer esas muertes, dejando en claro como esto pudo haberse evitado de haberlo detenido desde un principio.
Con un tinte gris en todas las escenas y colores opacos, por lo general cuando se usa este tipo de "filtro" se podría decir que es para prestar más atención tanto a los personajes o a algo que este ocurriendo en las escenas. En esta película aplica a la perfección ya que aunque la haga parecer aburrida si pones más atención puedes ir poco a poco de la mano con la resolución del caso en ella. Este tono brinda la sensación de imparcialidad y es algo que va muy ligado a la película debido a todo el encubrimiento sobre los ocurrido en los hospitales.
Before watching the movie I had no knowledge of this event or much less about this serial killer, I thought it was an incredible job how they adapted that to the movies and how they transmitted the anxiety of the moment to the viewer, in my case I was with my heart beating very fast hahaha, saying all this I feel it was a very controversial story no doubt due to the fact that he was in more than 9 hospitals where there were even more deaths than in the last one and yet the hospital authorities simply decided to fire him, once again the system ignoring strange situations and even more for not wanting to compromise the reputation of the hospital. Even after all this what filled me with chills the most was the fact that Charlie said he had no motive to make those deaths, making it clear how this could have been avoided had he stopped it in the first place.
With a gray tint in all the scenes and opaque colors, usually when this type of "filter" is used you could say it's to pay more attention to either the characters or something that is happening in the scenes. In this film it applies to perfection because although it makes it seem boring if you pay more attention you can gradually go hand in hand with the resolution of the case in it. This tone gives the feeling of impartiality and it is something that is very linked to the film because of all the cover-up about what happened in the hospitals.
A pesar de que nos dan muy poca información sobre el pasado de Charlie Cullen y que éste se cuenta de manera vaga la pelicula se enfoca más en la resolución del último caso y del último asesinato que realizaría, mostrando como la policía realiza hasta lo imposible para poder encontrar información y pistas que vinculen a Charlie con estos asesinatos. Aún así lo que quedó increíble fue la demostración de la incompetencia y la imagen que quieren dar ciertos hospitales, en donde incluso tenían problemas y falta de papeleo hasta la imagen de un abogado que solo era eso, imagen. Fue una gran forma de también mostrar como no solo el asesino cargaba con toda la culpa sino los mismo representantes y dueños de aquellos hospitales los cuales solo ocultaron lo que ocurría debajo de la alfombra.
Aún así es fascinante la forma como mostraron el acercamiento entre Amy y Charlie, quien incluso iba a casa de Amy y cuidaba de sus niñas, y como Amy se une a atrapar al asesino poniendo en riesgo su vida y la de su familia. También me pareció bastante fuerte la forma en la que la hija de Amy muestra su descontento por la cantidad de horas en las que trabaja su mamá, diciéndole que no pasaba suficiente tiempo con ella y luego parece muy apegada a Charlie, muy fuerte la forma en la que ella demostró que éste ganó su confianza más allá de la de su madre.
Although we are given very little information about Charlie Cullen's past and it is told in a vague way, the movie focuses more on the resolution of the last case and the last murder he would do, showing how the police do the impossible to find information and clues linking Charlie to these murders. Even so, what was incredible was the demonstration of the incompetence and the image that certain hospitals want to give, where they even had problems and lack of paperwork, even the image of a lawyer that was just that, image. It was a great way to also show how not only the killer bore all the blame but the same representatives and owners of those hospitals who just swept what was going on under the rug.
Still it is fascinating the way they showed the bonding between Amy and Charlie, who even went to Amy's house and took care of her girls, and how Amy joins in to catch the killer putting her life and her family's life at risk. I also found it quite strong the way Amy's daughter shows her dissatisfaction with the amount of hours her mom works, telling her that she didn't spend enough time with her and then seems very attached to Charlie, very strong the way she showed that he gained her trust beyond her mother's.
