Hello my dear cinephile friends! I hope you are very well. Today I'm here to share with you one of my favorite animated movies which I usually watch on Halloween, and although this holiday has already passed, I was lucky enough to catch it on TV today and watch it. I hope you like it!
¡Hola mis queridos amigos cinéfilos! Espero estén muy bien. Hoy estoy por aquí para compartir con ustedes una de mis películas animadas favoritas la cual acostumbro a ver en Halloween, y aunque ya haya pasado esta festividad, tuve la suerte de pescarla hoy en la tele y verla. ¡Espero les guste!
Plot / Trama
This film shows us the story of Victor Van Dort, a man who is a member of a nouveau riche family, who is about to marry the young Victoria Everglot but after failing in rehearsals by not reciting his vows well, he ends up accidentally marrying the corpse of a girl named Emily after reciting the vows well in the forest and putting the ring on her finger thinking it was a branch of a tree. After this unexpected event Victor is transported to the Land of the Dead after fainting when the Corpse Bride kisses him. Victor will do everything possible to get out of that marriage and return to his world so he can be with Victoria, since they both fell in love at first sight, however things get complicated because Emily doesn't want to let him go.
Esta película nos muestra la historia de Victor Van Dort un hombre miembro de una familia de nuevos ricos, el cual está por casarse con la joven Victoria Everglot pero luego de fallar en los ensayos al no recitar bien sus votos, termina casándose por accidente con el cadáver de una chica llamada Emily luego de recitar bien los votos en el bosque y ponerle el anillo en su dedo pensando que era una rama de un árbol. Luego de este inesperado acontecimiento Victor es transportado a La Tierra de los Muertos luego de desmayarse cuando la novia cadáver lo besa. Victor hará todo lo posible para zafarse de ese matrimonio y regresar a su mundo para así poder estar con Victoria, ya que ambos se enamoraron a primera vista sin embargo las cosas se le complican porque Emily no quiere dejarlo ir.
After the arrival of the Van Dort family coachman to the Land of the Dead, Victor learns that since he disappeared Victoria is going to marry another man named Lord Barkis, Victor decides to go talk to the governor of the underworld Elder Gutknecht however. When she arrives she finds him talking to Emily as he tells her that their marriage is invalid because she is dead and he is alive and for it to be valid they must recite their vows again in the Land of the Living and then Victor must drink poison. called "Wine of Time" and although Emily is against asking Victor that, she is surprised to hear Victor saying that he will do it because Victoria decided to marry someone else. Once in the Land of the Living, Victor and Emily proceed to get married "properly", however, Emily notices that Victoria (who didn't want to marry Lord Barkis) is watching the ceremony hidden behind a wall, and upon realizing That Victoria and Victor really love each other, she decides to finish the ceremony and reunite them both but they are interrupted by Lord Barkis because Victoria is still his wife, and then it's discovered that this man was the one who seduced and killed Emily.
Luego de la llegada del cochero de la familia Van Dort a la Tierra de los Muertos, Victor se entera que como el desapareció Victoria va a casarse con otro hombre llamado Lord Barkis, Victor decide ir a hablar con el gobernador del inframundo Elder Gutknecht sin embargo, cuando llega lo encuentra hablando con Emily ya que este le dice que su matrimonio es inválido debido a que ella está muerta y el vivo y para que sea válido deben recitar nuevamente sus votos en la Tierra de los Vivos y luego Victor debe beber un veneno llamado "Vino del Tiempo" y aunque Emily se opone a pedirle eso a Victor, se sorprende al escuchar a Victor diciendo que lo hará ya que Victoria decidió casarse con otro. Una vez en la Tierra de los Vivos, Victor y Emily proceden a casarse "apropiadamente" sin embargo, Emily se da cuenta de que Victoria (la cual no quería casarse con Lord Barkis) está viendo la ceremonia escondida tras un muro, y al darse cuenta de que Victoria y Victor se aman realmente, ella decide terminar la ceremonia y reunirlos a ambos pero son interrumpidos por Lord Barkis ya que Victoria sigue siendo su esposa, y luego se descubre de que este hombre fue el que sedujo y mató a Emily.
After a battle between Victor and Lord Barkis, in which Lord Barkis ends up drinking the poison in the cup thinking it is wine and dying, he is taken to the Land of the Dead to be judged for what he did to Emily, and after everything happens, Emily returns the ring to Victor and asks him to be happy with Victoria and after throwing her bouquet of blue flowers, Emily turns into thousands of flying butterflies, finally feeling free. Victor and Victoria watch together as the butterflies fly towards the moon.
Luego de una batalla entre Victor y Lord Barkis, en la que Lord Barkis termina bebiendo el veneno en la copa pensando que es vino y falleciendo, este es llevado a La Tierra de los Muertos para ser juzgado por lo que le hizo a Emily, y luego que todo pasa Emily le devuelve el anillo a Victor y le pide que sea feliz al lado de Victoria y luego de lanzar su ramo de flores azules, Emily se convierte en miles de mariposas volando, finalmente sintiéndose libre. Victor y Victoria contemplan juntos como las mariposas vuelan hacía la luna.
My Opinion / Mi Opinión
This is one of my favorite movies since 2005 since I loved it from the first time I saw it. The story, although dark, is beautiful, it's based on a Russian-Jewish folk tale from the 19th century and I would say that Tim Burton (the director of the film) developed it in a beautiful way. I really like the work of the voice actors since they were incredible, I really liked that Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson lent their voices to the main characters, since I have admired them for quite some time and they really did Incredible work with your characters.
Esta es de mis películas favoritas desde el 2005 ya que me encantó desde la primera vez que la vi. La historia aunque es oscura es hermosa, se basa en un cuento popular ruso-judío del siglo XIX y diría que Tim Burton (el director de la película) la desarrolló de una hermosa manera. Me gusta mucho el trabajo de los actores de doblaje ya que estuvieron increíbles, me gustó mucho que Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter y Emily Watson prestaran sus voces a los personajes principales, ya que los admiro desde hace bastante tiempo y de verdad es que hicieron un trabajo increíble con sus personajes.
The animation is incredible and I must say that the stop motion technique is one of my favorites because although it is a technique that requires a lot of work (in fact, I had the opportunity to learn this technique when I was studying at university) the result is beautiful, and I really liked the way they represented both worlds since The Land of the Living was represented with a palette of cold colors and a gloomy atmosphere, on the other hand The Land of the Dead is represented with a fairly wide, cheerful and colorful palette which gives us a different vision than what we think of the underworld, because it's normal to think that death can be scary, however, who says it can't be quite the opposite?
La animación es increíble y debo decir que la técnica stop motion es de mis favoritas ya que aunque es una técnica que requiere bastante trabajo (de hecho, yo tuve la oportunidad de aprender esta técnica cuando estudiaba en la universidad) el resultado es hermoso, y realmente me gustó la manera en la que representaron ambos mundos ya que La Tierra de los Vivos fue representado con una paleta de colores fríos y un ambiente tétrico, en cambio La Tierra de los Muertos se representa con una paleta de colores bastante amplia, alegre y colorida lo que nos da una visión diferente a lo que nosotros pensamos del inframundo, ya que es normal pensar que la muerte puede ser de miedo sin embargo, ¿quién dice que no puede ser todo lo contrario?
Another thing that I really like about the film is the design and development of all the characters in general and I would say that my favorite character is Emily, because although (in my opinion) she appears to be a chilling and selfish character when thinking only about her own happiness, then she is able to understand her feelings after having been a victim of a man who made her fall in love with him, deceived her and then murdered her, taking away her dreams and plunging her into loneliness and sadness, which is why when she meets Victor she clings to him because she manages to feel love again, and although at first she refused to understand that Victor is not for her because he's in love with someone else and that she's also destined to be alone again, in the end she manages to understand and decides to put Victor's happiness above her own and hand it over to his beloved, finally feeling free and in peace. I really loved that Tim Burton has created a character as sensitive as her, and I'm sure there are many people who can identify with her in some way.
Otra cosa que me gusta mucho de la película, es el diseño y desarrollo de todos los personajes en general y diría que mi personaje favorito es Emily, ya que aunque (a mi parecer) se muestra como un personaje escalofriante y egoísta al pensar únicamente en su propia felicidad, luego se logra entender sus sentimientos al haber sido víctima de un hombre que la enamoró, engañó y luego asesinó arrebatándole sus ilusiones y sumiéndola en una soledad y tristeza por eso cuando conoce a Victor se aferra a él porque logra a sentir amor otra vez, y aunque al principio se negaba a entender que Victor no es para ella ya que él está enamorado de otra persona y que también está nuevamente destinada a estar sola, al final logra entender y decide poner la felicidad de Victor por encima de ella y entregarlo a su amada, sintiéndose finalmente libre y en paz. Realmente me encantó que Tim Burton haya creado un personaje tan sensible como ella, y seguro que hay muchas personas que pueden sentirse en alguna manera identificada con ella.
The soundtrack is another incredible thing in the film because it's an excellent complement and works perfectly, it has very beautiful songs sung by the actors and my favorite is "Tears To Shed" since its lyrics, dedicated to Emily, tell us how valuable what she is and that if Victor knew her better he would realize it, and also in this song Emily tells us her pain and her grief for not being able to have the person she loves with her, and I also really liked that the voice actors participated in several songs. To conclude, I would say that it's a very beautiful film that, although it's for children, can be enjoyed by the whole family and although it's one of my favorites to enjoy during the Halloween season, I like to enjoy it throughout the year, I would like to recommend it to everyone who You haven't seen it yet, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
El soundtrack es otra cosa increíble en la película ya que es un excelente complemento y funciona a la perfección, tiene canciones muy bonitas cantadas por los actores y mi favorita es "Tears To Shed" ya que su letra, dedicada a Emily nos narra lo valiosa que es y que si Victor la conociera mas se daría cuenta, y también en esta canción Emily, nos cuenta su dolor y su duelo por no poder tener a la persona amada consigo, y también me gustó mucho que los actores de voz participaran en varias canciones. Para culminar, diría que es una película muy hermosa que aunque es infantil, puede ser disfrutada por toda la familia y aunque es de mis favoritas para disfrutar en la época de Halloween me gusta disfrutarla durante todo el año, me gustaría recomendarla a todos los que no la hayan visto todavía, espero que la disfruten tanto como yo.
