Bueno, el día finalmente llegó y ayer fui a ver la película que está poniendo a todo el mundo patas arriba como lo hizo en su momento Spiderman No Way Home en Diciembre. Ya me había tardado un poco más de una semana en verla cosa que fue titánica por el hecho de estar esquivando posibles spoilers en las redes sociales y lógicamente porque la ansiedad de querer ver si está película era lo que tanto uno esperaba cada vez se hacía más grande. Era lo que esperaba? - es una pregunta complicada pero que trataré de responder más adelante.
Well, the day finally came and yesterday I went to see the movie that is turning everyone upside down as Spiderman No Way Home did back in December. It had already taken me a little over a week to see it, which was titanic because I was dodging possible spoilers on social networks and logically because the anxiety of wanting to see if this movie was what I was expecting was getting bigger and bigger. Was it what I expected? - is a complicated question but I will try to answer it later.
A esta nueva entrega de del Doctor Strange la verdad no le ha ido mal en taquilla en esta primera semana que lleva de hecho ya ha superado a unas cuantas películas de Marvel, basta saber en cuento tiempo llegará a los 1000 millones de dólares. Esto nos dice que la indudablemente la gente está yendo a verla pero lo que habría que preguntar es que si después de verla quedaron tan convencidos como esperaban y que si tanto hype valió la pena para lo que disfrutamos en las salas de cine. Para mi esa es una de las peores sensaciones que hay, esperar algo con ansias y que no llene como tu esperabas las expectativas. Pero bueno, hablemos un poco entonces de lo que fue este multiverso de la locura...
This new installment of Doctor Strange has not done badly at the box office in this first week, in fact it has already surpassed a few Marvel movies, it is enough to know in how long it will reach $1 billion. This tells us that undoubtedly people are going to see it but what we should ask is if after seeing it they were as convinced as they expected and if so much hype was worth it for what we enjoyed in the theaters. For me that's one of the worst feelings there is, waiting for something eagerly and it doesn't fulfill your expectations as you expected. But well, let's talk a little bit about what was this multiverse of madness...
En esta nueva saga de nuestro ex cirujano Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) veremos como gracias al uso indebido de sus capacidades para abrir portales, controlar el tiempo y el mismo espacio por medio de hechizos que están claramente prohibidos todo se comienza a convertir en un caos y se empiezan a abrir puertas que no debería de hacerlo, dichas puertas son las que nos darán a conocer lo terrible y la locura que puede llegar a ser el multiverso. Es tan desconocido, poderoso y cambiante todo esto que el mismo Doctor Strange no puede manejarlo solo por lo que decide buscar toda la ayuda necesaria.
In this new saga of our former surgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) we will see how thanks to the misuse of his abilities to open portals, control time and space itself through spells that are clearly prohibited everything begins to turn into chaos and begin to open doors that should not do so, these doors are the ones that will give us to know how terrible and madness that can become the multiverse. It is so unknown, powerful and changing all this that Doctor Strange himself can not handle it alone so he decides to seek all the necessary help.
Es en este punto cuando aparece nuestra querida Wanda Maximoff o La Bruja Escarlata (Elizabeth Olsen), como la quieran llamar, para echarle una mano a Strange quien junto a Wong, el Hechicero Supremo (Benedict Wong) tratarán de poner fin a toda la locura que se desatará a medida que pasa el tiempo. Desde aquí da inicio el viaje a través de los cientos de universos buscando solucionar lo que una vez se creyó podía ser la solución a un problema. Un viaje lleno de acción, de terror y de varios momentos en los que vi el reloj para ver cuanto faltaba para que terminara la película.
It is at this point when our beloved Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), as they want to call her, appears to lend a hand to Strange who along with Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Wong) will try to put an end to all the madness that will be unleashed as time goes by. From here begins the journey through hundreds of universes seeking to solve what was once believed to be the solution to a problem. A journey full of action, terror and several moments in which I watched the clock to see how much time was left for the movie to end.
No me malinterpreten con lo que dije anteriormente, esta película no es mala y se deja ver bastante por lo entretenida que es pero cuando menos te los esperas ella entra en un hueco algo denso y tedioso que nos saca un poco del "mood" que traíamos de acciones pasadas. Entiendo que no todo puede ir a un mismo ritmo siempre pero esos pasajes en donde la velocidad bajaba me parecieron pesados, perdí la concentración varias veces y hacía que me preguntara lo que dije antes, cuanto falta para que termine?... Me molesta que eso pasa porque el universo de Marvel es de las cosas que más me gusta ver pero cuando la película no te atrapa al 100% se nota mucho y hay que decirlo.
Don't get me wrong with what I said before, this movie is not bad and it is quite entertaining but when you least expect it, it enters a somewhat dense and tedious hole that takes us out of the "mood" that we brought from past actions. I understand that not everything can go at the same pace all the time but those passages where the speed slowed down seemed heavy, I lost concentration several times and made me wonder what I said before, how long until it ends? It bothers me that this happens because the Marvel universe is one of the things I like to watch the most but when the movie doesn't catch you 100% it's very noticeable and it has to be said.
El nivel de escenas de acción, típicas de Doctor Strange estuvieron excelentes. De hecho hay una, que es la más característica de todas, la verdad es que me voló la cabeza; bueno esa una cuantas más sinceramente estuvieron bastante buenas y bien logradas. Pero no todas esas secuencias cinematográficas y sobre todo efectos me gustaron del todo. Si la viste, la escena de las notas musicales me pareció terrible y si no la has visto pues cuando veas esa escena probablemente te acuerdes de esto pero si, de lo peor del film.
The level of action scenes, typical of Doctor Strange were excellent. In fact there is one, which is the most characteristic of all, the truth is that it blew my mind; well that a few more were honestly quite good and well done. But not all of those cinematic sequences and especially the effects I liked at all. If you saw it, the scene of the musical notes seemed terrible to me and if you haven't seen it then when you see that scene you will probably remember this but yes, the worst of the film.
Otra de las cosas que me llamó poderosamente la atención es el grado de horror y terror que vemos en esta película y eso es gracias a su director Sam Raimi. Acá en Venezuela es censura A y no se yo si eso deba de ser así del todo. Hay escenas muy oscuras en donde puede que hasta te sorprendas con uno que otro susto, hay violencia, en la interpretación de estos personajes vemos como muchas veces la personalidad se vuelve más sombría y lúgubre lo que hace que la percepción del miedo aumente un poco y le de al film un carácter mucho más serio y sombrío en relación a lo que veníamos viendo de Marvel. Sin duda es una película mucho más seria y compleja pero para adultos.
Another thing that caught my attention is the degree of horror and terror that we see in this movie and that is thanks to its director Sam Raimi. Here in Venezuela it's censorship A and I don't know if it should be that way at all. There are very dark scenes where you may even be surprised with a scare or two, there is violence, in the interpretation of these characters we see how many times the personality becomes more somber and gloomy which makes the perception of fear increases a little and gives the film a much more serious and somber character in relation to what we had been seeing from Marvel. Without a doubt it is a much more serious and complex film but for adults.
Hablemos un poco de algunos personajes y comencemos por Wanda, nuestra Bruja Escarlata. Creo firmemente que el peso de la película recae sobre sus hombros desde el primer momento en el que hace su aparición hasta el punto de que si no supiéramos como se llama la película podríamos pensar que la trama se basa totalmente en ella. Elizabeth Olsen es increíble, desde siempre me ha gustado su trabajo como La Bruja Escarlata, lo confirmé en WandaVision y lo reafirmo en este film. Y esto lo digo porque el contexto de su personaje es muy profundo, no es un superhéroe vacío y ya, existe un trasfondo muy sentimental y personal que requiere que actúe más de la cuenta y por encima del promedio y eso para mi es fundamental para empatizar valorar un personaje. De lo mejor de Marvel actualmente es ella.
Let's talk a little bit about some characters and let's start with Wanda, our Scarlet Witch. I firmly believe that the weight of the movie falls on her shoulders from the first moment she makes her appearance to the point that if we didn't know what the movie is called we could think that the plot is totally based on her. Elizabeth Olsen is amazing, I have always loved her work as Scarlet Witch, I confirmed it in WandaVision and I reaffirm it in this film. And I say this because the context of her character is very deep, she is not an empty superhero and that's it, there is a very sentimental and personal background that requires her to act more than the account and above average and that for me is essential to empathize to value a character. She is one of Marvel's best characters at the moment.
De otro personaje del que quiero hablar es de la nueva incorporación a este universo, América Chávez o Miss América (Xochitl Gomez). Sin dar muchos detalles por un tema de spoilers es una superheroína que se unirá a este basto mundo de Marvel, de que forma lo hará? - todavía no lo tenemos claro pero la película nos deja con bastante evidencia cual es su superpoder el cual está muy bueno, increíble para ser sincero, y que si es trabajado correctamente puede ser de las grandes cosas que veamos en un futuro en Marvel. Tuvo un par de escenas que en lo personal no me convencieron mucho, sobretodo las de combate cuerpo a cuerpo, hace falta pulirla un poco más pero esto ni implica que el personaje sea bastante interesante pensando a largo plazo.
Another character I want to talk about is the new addition to this universe, America Chavez or Miss America (Xochitl Gomez). Without giving too many details because of spoilers, she is a superheroine that will join this vast Marvel world, how will she do it? - We still don't have it clear but the movie leaves us with enough evidence which is her superpower which is very good, incredible to be honest, and if it is worked correctly it can be one of the great things we will see in the future in Marvel. It had a couple of scenes that personally did not convince me much, especially those of melee, it needs to be polished a little more but this does not imply that the character is quite interesting thinking in the long term.
Para ir finalizando quiero tocar brevemente el tema de los cameos. Evidentemente no voy a escribir ni una letra acerca de quienes son ellos pero en mi muy humilde opinión dejaron mucho que desear. Nunca espero que hayan cosas de este estilo en las películas pero si los van a hacer, traten de hacerlo lo mejor posible. Creo que este fue otro paso atrás de esta película, no es que sea muy relevante pero como en todo el film en general creo que esperaba otra cosa.
In closing I want to briefly touch on the cameos. Obviously I'm not going to write a single letter about who they are but in my very humble opinion they left a lot to be desired. I never expect things like this in the movies but if you are going to do them, try to make them as good as possible. I think this was another step backwards for this movie, not that it's very relevant but as in the whole film in general I think I expected something else.
En fin. Una película que creo que es una puerta para la nueva etapa de Marvel. Nos muestran nuevos personajes, tramas que puede que no hayan tenido un cierre y claramente un multiverso de posibilidades más. No es la película que más me ha gustado, es más, creo que me gustó más la primera entrega que esta segunda pero tampoco vamos a desmeritarla porque tiene sus cosas que la hacen atractiva de ver. Si, es obligatorio que la vean porque ya es algo cultural hacerlo y porque como les dije es una continuación de lo visto anteriormente y un puente para lo que vendrá.
Anyway. A movie that I think is a gateway to the new phase of Marvel. We are shown new characters, plots that may not have had a closure and clearly a multiverse of possibilities. It is not the movie that I liked the most, in fact, I think I liked the first installment more than this second one but we are not going to downplay it because it has its things that make it attractive to see. Yes, it is mandatory to see it because it is already a cultural thing to do and because as I said it is a continuation of what we have seen before and a bridge for what is to come.
Un 7.5/10 porque no me encantó del todo. Creo que me hice muchas expectativas y al final no fue tan épica como pensé lo sería. Aún así, solo por ver a Wanda, al mismo Doctor Strange que no estuvo tan mal después de todo y por conocer a la nueva adición a la flota de Marvel creo que vale la pena que vayan a verla. Al final todo esto que escribí son opiniones y como la mía hay mucha variedad más. Tiene una duración de dos horas aproximadamente y está disponible en todas las salas de cine. Les dejo el tráiler como siempre.
A 7.5/10 because I didn't love it at all. I think I had high expectations and in the end it wasn't as epic as I thought it would be. Still, just to see Wanda, Doctor Strange himself who wasn't so bad after all and to meet the new addition to the Marvel fleet I think it's worth going to see it. In the end all this I wrote are opinions and like mine there is a lot more variety. It has a running time of about two hours and is available in all theaters. I leave you with the trailer as always.

Tengo tiempo esperando el film pero aún no he podido verlo. Por lo que leo, a pesar de no ser tan espectacular, aún así comentas que vale la pena verlo. Lo de tener mucho hype y luego terminar decepcionado es algo que a mí me sucede bastante, pero voy a intentar bajar mis expectativas con este film para que no me suceda hahahah. Sin duda es un film que hay que ver para poder seguirle la trama a lo que Marvel haga en el futuro, y como bien dices parece que ha sido muy bien recibidio por la mayoría. Me interesa lo que comentas que tiene partes que pueden ser un poco de terror, eso me gusta ya que es de mis géneros preferidos, y aunque el post se supone que debe bajar mi hype, saber que tiene escenas así lo que hace es subirlo 😅
Tal como le comente a otro user que reseño este film, no he visto la primera película y tengo una pereza de hacerlo jajajaja Ojo, yo veo el cine de superherores y he visto la mayoría de Marvel. Eternals y la de Spiderman fueron las ultimas que vi, pero lo que me fastidia es que tengo que ver Wandavision para no perderme de ciertas referencias en esta película, es como que Marvel Disney me induce a consumir todo para disfrutar mejor la película. Por los momentos voy a tratar de ponerme al día, porque realmente quiero ver este film.
