Finalmente ha terminado su historia una de las mejores series que hemos podido ver en los últimos años de la mano de Netflix. Recuerdo cuando comencé el viaje de Ozark me dije que se me parecía mucho a Breaking Bad por todo el contexto, los personajes y que gracias a una necesidad tras otra siempre la familia Byrde terminaba más hundida en problemas de lo que quisiera. Estoy seguro que no será en estos momentos pero si en un futuro en el que esta serie va a ser catalogada como de las mejores de que se han hecho, porque aún hoy por hoy siento que está muy infravalorada.

Finally has finished its story one of the best series that we have been able to see in recent years by the hand of Netflix. I remember when I started the journey of Ozark I said to myself that it was very similar to Breaking Bad because of all the context, the characters and that thanks to one need after another always the Byrde family ended up deeper in trouble than I would like. I'm sure it won't be at this time but in the future that this series will be ranked as one of the best ever made, because even today I feel it's still very underrated.

En esta última parte de lo que fue la cuarta temporada que vino siendo la final de la serie quisieron dar un cierre a todo este enredo de poder, dinero y disputas familiares que se viene dando desde comienzos de la serie, lo que no se yo es que si la forma en la que lo hicieron fue la que más me gustó. Obviamente y en este tipo de opiniones habrán cientos de argumentos y todos diferentes del porque a algunos si les gustó, a otros no tanto y otro grupo nada de nada. A mi si me gustó pero hubo unos detallitos que me hicieron un poco de ruido. Hablemos entonces del final del paseo de la familia Byrde.

In this last part of what was the fourth season, which was the final of the series, they wanted to give closure to all this tangle of power, money and family disputes that has been going on since the beginning of the series, what I don't know is if the way they did it was the one I liked the most. Obviously and in this type of opinions there will be hundreds of arguments and all different of why some people liked it, others not so much and another group not at all. Como dije estamos ante una segunda parte de la temporada en donde se le dará un cierre a todas esas historias y cabos sueltos que hay por ahí. Por un lado tenemos todo el rompecabezas que hay entorno a Marty y Wendy y su relación con el cartel de Omar Navarro y la aparición de su sobrino, Javier. Si, aparecerán nuevos personajes en este entorno que hará todo más complicado para que esta operación sigue en marcha pero es ahí en donde veremos de que están hechos este par, en especial Wendy. Adicional a todo esto, que ya de por si es bastante, habrá una "lucha familiar" por todo el tema de Ben en el que los hijos de los Byrde Jonah y Charlotte se verán involucrados; otros de los cabos que eran necesarios de cerrar y lo hicieron.

As I said, we are facing a second part of the season where we will give closure to all those stories and loose ends that are out there. On the one hand we have all the puzzle around Marty and Wendy and their relationship with the Omar Navarro cartel and the appearance of his nephew, Javier. Yes, new characters will appear in this environment that will make everything more complicated for this operation to continue, but that is where we will see what this pair is made of, especially Wendy. In addition to all this, which is already quite a lot, there will be a "family fight" over the whole Ben issue in which the Byrde's children Jonah and Charlotte will be involved; another of the ends that needed to be closed and they did it.

Por otro lado pero no muy lejano a todo lo anterior veremos cual es la reacción de Ruth ante lo ocurrido con Darlene y su primo Wyatt, la verán mucho más decidida y menos temerosa que en ocasiones pasadas y seguirá siendo un pilar para que esta trama logre el cierre que se estaba buscando. Le tocará tomar grandes decisiones que sin duda afectarán su futuro pero, como siempre, todo lo hace sin arrepentirse. La verdad es que esta serie o por lo menos estos últimos siete episodios tienen tres ejes, tres puntos en donde descansa todo el peso de la trama: los Byrde, Ruth y el Cartel; todos ellos convergiendo directa e indirectamente para ver quienes son los que verdaderamente tienen el poder.

On the other hand, but not far from all of the above, we will see Ruth's reaction to what happened with Darlene and her cousin Wyatt, we will see her much more determined and less fearful than in the past and she will continue to be a pillar for this plot to achieve the closure it was looking for. Esta última temporada no perdió su esencia con respecto a lo que veníamos viendo, al contrario, creo que la mejoró porque a medida que iban pasando los capítulos y la historia se iba haciendo más profunda y delicada todo se fue convirtiendo en algo más turbio y denso de lo que veía siendo. Creo que en parte esto fue por el nivel de decisiones que se tomaron, el tipo de tratos que se quisieron cerrar, los cuales muchos de ellos sobrepasaban las propias capacidades de los involucrados trayendo como consecuencia todo lo que verán en esta segunda parte.

This last season did not lose its essence with respect to what we had been seeing, on the contrary, I think it improved it because as the chapters went by and the story became deeper and more delicate, everything became murkier and denser than what I had seen it to be. I think this was partly due to the level of decisions that were made, the type of deals they wanted to close, which many of them exceeded the capabilities of those involved, bringing as a consequence everything you will see in this second part.

Es tal cual lo digo en el titulo de la publicación, todo se resume en una lucha de poder, de influencias y de dinero en donde no siempre el que tiene más sale ganando. Salen ganando los que mejor se acomodan, los que mejor la piensan y los que al final tienen más agallas para afrontar posibles reveses. La trama sigue siendo inquietante de principio a fin, la tensión nunca baja porque SIEMPRE hay un nuevo asunto que atender, lo inesperado también es algo que está latente ya que no sabemos cual puede ser la reacción de los personajes al ser todos increíblemente volátiles e impredecibles. En fin, las emociones y sobretodo los cliffhanger son piezas claves en esta parte final.

The winners are those who are better accommodated, those who think better and those who in the end have more guts to face possible setbacks. The plot remains unsettling from beginning to end, the tension never drops because there is ALWAYS a new issue to deal with, the unexpected is also something that is latent since we do not know what the reaction of the characters may be because they are all incredibly volatile and unpredictable. In short, the emotions and especially the cliffhanger are key pieces in this final part.

Lo que si continua igual es la forma en la que se nos presenta la serie en el sentido de su cinematografía, es otro de sus grandes puntos fuertes. Las escenas, los colores (muy cálidos cuando estamos en México y fríos cuando estamos en Estados Unidos), la fotografía en general, todo está elaborado para que te adentres en la historia y formes parte de ella. Puede parecer tonto pero esos elementos ayudan mucho a que la serie cobre más sobriedad y profundidad.

What remains the same is the way in which the series is presented to us in the sense of its cinematography, which is another of its great strengths. The scenes, the colors (very warm when we are in Mexico and cold when we are in the United States), the photography in general, everything is elaborated so that you get into the story and become part of it. It may seem silly but these elements help a lot to make the series more sober and deep.

Que decir de los personajes. Creo que Wendy (Laura Linney) es la joya de la corona por lo menos de esta segunda parte. Es muy impresionante como esa actriz manejó todas las emociones necesarias por las que estaba pasando Wendy. La transformación de este personaje durante toda la serie siendo esta parte final el resultado definitivo fue épico, pasó de ser de una simple empleada del sistema a una persona totalmente despiadada, controladora, manipuladora y con ínfulas de grandeza al punto que la llegas a odiar, eso nos habla de lo buena actriz que es. Creo y sin miedo a equivocarme que estamos ante una de los personajes más detestables que he visto en una serie o película en mucho tiempo. Así que bravo por Laura Linney, espero verla llevarse los premios que le correspondan porque decir que se los merece es quedarse cortos.

What to say about the characters. I think Wendy (Laura Linney) is the crown jewel at least of this second part. It is very impressive how that actress handled all the necessary emotions Wendy was going through. The transformation of this character throughout the series being this final part the final result was epic, she went from being a simple employee of the system to a totally ruthless, controlling, manipulative and with pretensions of grandeur to the point that you get to hate her, that tells us how good an actress she is. I think and without fear of being wrong that we are facing one of the most detestable characters I've seen in a series or movie in a long time. So bravo to Laura Linney, I hope to see her get the awards she deserves because to say she deserves them is an understatement.

Hablar de Ruth es hablar de excelencia. Hoy en día Julia Garner es de las mejores actrices "jóvenes" que hay en el panorama televisivo. Lo que ella hizo con este personaje es increíble, es uno que nunca renunció a lo que es ella en realidad, siempre fue leal a su forma de ser y sus raíces, cuando había que verla llena de ira se le vio y cuando tenía que llorar y sacar el lado sensible también la vimos. Un personaje muy completo que a pesar de todo estoy seguro que se ganó el corazón de todos los que vimos esta serie. El más lineal yo diría que fue Marty (Jason Bateman) que con todo y las buenas actuaciones que nos brindó su personaje no sufrió tantos cambios significativos. Quizás en esta segunda parte, cuando toca el poder un poco, si lo observamos con un temple distinto; el exceso de poder cambia a las personas.

To talk about Ruth is to talk about excellence. Today Julia Garner is one of the best "young" actresses on television. What she did with this character is incredible, it is one that never gave up who she really is, she was always loyal to her way of being and her roots, when she had to be seen full of anger she was seen and when she had to cry and bring out the sensitive side we also saw her. A very complete character that despite everything I'm sure she won the hearts of all of us who watched this series. The most linear I would say it was Marty (Jason Bateman) that with all the good performances that gave us his character did not suffer so many significant changes. Para ir concluyendo. Una serie que termina bien pero que como dije tuvo un par de detalles que me parecieron un poco simples para lo que yo pudiera esperar y lo que veníamos viendo de esta trama. Claramente no puedo decir más porque estaría cayendo en los temidos spoilers pero si, hubo un par de cosas que no me gustaron mucho por la manera en que se dieron. Lo que si puedo decir es que la maldad puede venir representada de múltiples formas y si a eso le agregas el poder "infinito" el resultado puede ser escalofriante. Que esto le quita merito a esta brutal serie? - no, para nada. Para mi es de las mejores que he visto y muy posiblemente la ponga en mi top 5 de series de todos los tiempos.

To conclude. A series that ends well but as I said it had a couple of details that seemed to me a little simple for what I could expect and what we were seeing of this plot. Clearly I can not say more because I would be falling into the dreaded spoilers but yes, there were a couple of things that I did not like much for the way they were given. What I can say is that evil can come represented in multiple forms and if you add to that the "infinite" power the result can be chilling. Does this detract from the merit of this brutal series? - No, not at all. For me it is one of the best I've seen and quite possibly I'll put it in my top 5 series of all time.

Que vamos a clasificar? el final o la serie completa? - si es el final le doy un 8/10 pero si hablamos de la serie completa le doy 9.5/10. Es perfecta, nunca decae, siempre pasaba algo que nos dejaba sin palabras, las actuaciones fueron de primera categoría, la evolución de los personajes fue algo muy top, de lo mejor, el entramado fue impresionante, lograr que nunca resultara cansino y tedioso es algo de lo que hay que agradecer.

What are we going to rate? the finale or the whole series? - If it's the ending I give it an 8/10 but if we talk about the whole series I give it 9.5/10. It's perfect, it never declines, there was always something that left us speechless, the performances were first class, the evolution of the characters was something very top, the best, the plot was impressive, making that it never became tiresome and tedious is something to be thankful for.
