Entre el cielo e internet no hay nada oculto y es que si eres lo suficientemente inteligente y con una pizca de sentido común como para saber manejar las herramientas que el internet ofrece pues déjame decirte que serás capaz de encontrar, o por lo menos intentarlo, a cualquier persona. Esa es la teoría o premisa de este film, ahora que ponerla en practica es lo complicado. Me topé con esta película en el típico ejercicio de buscar que ver para pasar el tiempo y hubo algo que me llamó a atención, Rotten Tomatoes le da un 87% sus críticos y la audiencia un 90%. No se si entienden esos números pero son grandes calificaciones, siempre me dejo llevar por los de la audiencia ya que son los que realmente valen y al ver ese 90% era más que evidente que este film tenía algo, una joya oculta quizás?...

Between the sky and the internet there is nothing hidden and if you are smart enough and with a bit of common sense to know how to handle the tools that the internet offers, let me tell you that you will be able to find, or at least try to find, anyone. That's the theory or premise of this film, but putting it into practice is the tricky part. I stumbled upon this film in the typical exercise of looking for something to watch to pass the time and there was something that caught my attention, Rotten Tomatoes gives it 87% of its critics and the audience 90%. I don't know if you understand those numbers but they are great ratings, I always go by those of the audience since they are the ones that are really worth and seeing that 90% it was more than evident that this film had something, a hidden gem perhaps?...

Con todo y eso comencé a verla sin muchas expectativas, he aprendido que los gustos de las personas son muy variados y subjetivos por lo que procuro siempre ir con cuidado a no esperar algo para que después sea un fiasco total. Esta película tiene un elemento importante: la intriga, ese sentimiento que cada vez aumenta conforme van apareciendo informaciones y que más que aclarar todo lo que hace es hundirte aún más en un mar de dudas, eso amigos es lo que hace especial, si cabe el término, a este film. Acá no verán grandes actuaciones ni mucho menos locaciones ni efectos, todo el punto de vista del film es una pantalla de una laptop y de un teléfono, toda la trama se desarrolla en el internet y en los secretos que este esconde. Así que sin más, vayamos y hablemos un poco de esta particular historia.

However, I started watching it without many expectations, I have learned that people's tastes are very varied and subjective so I always try to be careful not to expect something that later is a total fiasco. This film has an important element: the intrigue, that feeling that increases as more and more information appears and that more than clarifying everything what it does is to sink you even more in a sea of doubts, that friends is what makes this film special, if the term fits, to this film. Here you will not see great performances or much less locations or effects, the whole point of view of the film is a screen of a laptop and a phone, the whole plot takes place on the internet and the secrets it hides. So without further ado, let's go and talk a little bit about this particular story.

Esta es una historia que tiene como protagonistas a una madre, Grace (Nia Long) y a su hija June (Storm Reid) quienes tienen la típica relación que uno puede esperar. June de 18 años que le da igual todo y que su mundo gira en torno a sus amigos y las redes sociales y Grace pues la madre trabajadora que tiene que lidiar con la clásica hija adolescente. Todo va bien, a pesar de esto tienen una relación especial y buena, no hay nada fuera de lo normal hasta que nuestra mamá decide irse de vacaciones a Colombia con un nuevo novio, una nueva persona que llegó a su vida. Con la fecha de regreso programada todo sigue acorde al plan hasta que de la nada Grace deja de comunicarse, cero mensajes ni llamadas, tal parece que la misma tierra se la tragó.

This is a story that stars a mother, Grace (Nia Long) and her daughter June (Storm Reid) who have the typical relationship you might expect. June is 18 and doesn't care about anything and her world revolves around her friends and social media and Grace is the working mother who has to deal with the classic teenage daughter. Everything is going well, despite this they have a special and good relationship, nothing out of the ordinary until our mom decides to go on vacation to Colombia with a new boyfriend, a new person who came into her life. With the scheduled return date everything goes according to plan until suddenly Grace stops communicating, no messages or calls, it seems that the earth itself swallowed her up.

Es justo acá cuando a trama comienza a andar, June al ver que su madre no aparece la reporta como desaparecida con todos los obstáculos que eso supone: Grace en el extranjero y June en su cuarto. Si lo ven así ustedes dirán que esta muchacha mucho no puede hacer pero ahí es donde se equivocan y es que gracias al internet y a una mente ágil veremos como June mueve todas las posibilidades que la red puede ofrecer para buscar información y empezar a armar el rompecabezas que la lleve al paradero de su madre reconstruyendo sus movimientos y dando con sus ultimas conexiones. La película es extrañamente entretenida, te mantiene siempre pensando y sacando conclusiones, como queriendo ir un paso más adelante, cosa que al final hace que te enganches un poco.

The film is strangely entertaining, it keeps you always thinking and drawing conclusions, as if wanting to go one step further, which in the end makes you a little hooked.

A ver, uno sabe como funciona el internet y la vida en general por lo que la pregunta es obligada, es posible hacer en la vida real todo lo que esta joven desde su cuarto hizo? - la respuesta es que no lo se aunque es posible. Vemos cosas que si me lo preguntan les diría que fueron producto del azar y suerte, hay otras que para mi fueron muy rebuscadas y es que es complicado que alguien piense de la misma manera, yo diría que todo esto fue gracias al ingenio, sentido común y una capacidad para resolver este tipo de problemas. En el film hacen referencia a que June junto a su amiga ven estos documentales en donde, escudriñando en lo más mínimo, se pueden resolver ciertas cosas. Y eso si que es real, existen los famosos detectives del internet en donde intentan resolver casos por sus propis manos, algo así vemos aquí.

We see things that if you ask me I would say that they were the product of chance and luck, there are others that for me were very far-fetched and it is complicated for someone to think the same way, I would say that all this was thanks to ingenuity, common sense and an ability to solve such problems. In the film they make reference to the fact that June and her friend watch these documentaries where, by scrutinizing the smallest thing, certain things can be solved. And that is real, there are the famous internet detectives where they try to solve cases by their own hands, something like that we see here.

El fin de la película creo que entretener y lo hace sin problemas. Es como adictivo ver como una pista lleva a la otra, como uno junto a June vamos navegando por el internet convertidos en estos detectives desbloqueando pistas, porque así lo sentí yo, como un scape room en donde el objetico final es encontrar a Grace. Creo que si hay un poco de ficción porque al final la vida no es tan perfecta, la burocracia es de las cosas más detestables que hay y aunque de la impresión de que los que tienen que ayudar no lo están haciendo la realidad es que si, para mi todas estas personas fueron muy amables y comprometidas cuando en la realidad cuesta un poco que esto sea tan así.

The purpose of the film is to entertain and it does it without problems. It's kind of addictive to see how one clue leads to another, how one together with June we go surfing the internet turned into these detectives unlocking clues, because that's how I felt, like a scape room where the ultimate goal is to find Grace. I think there is a bit of fiction because in the end life is not so perfect, bureaucracy is one of the most detestable things there is and although it gives the impression that those who have to help are not doing it, the reality is that yes, for me all these people were very kind and committed when in reality it is a little difficult for this to be so.

Es una historia que siempre te va a mantener a la expectativa, es impresionante como eso no decae. Y de la mano con esto también hay que decir que la cantidad plot twist son importantes, otro de las factores que hacen que la historia sea más interesante, de hecho es la chispa que hace que el ritmo no se vaya a pique. Algo que no me gustó fue el final, siento que fue el más obvio y sencillo, la opción más fácil y eso realmente mató esas expectativas de las que les hablé, no es uno malo pero en lo personal no me atrapó para nada. En cuanto a los actores tal y como dije no hay mucho que decir al respecto, son personajes cuyo accionar se limita a hablar a través de una pantalla por lo que esas habilidades de actuación no son muy explotadas que digamos.

It is a story that will always keep you in expectation, it is impressive how it does not decline. And hand in hand with this we must also say that the amount of plot twists are important, another factor that makes the story more interesting, in fact it is the spark that makes the rhythm not to go down. Something I didn't like was the ending, I feel it was the most obvious and simple, the easiest option and that really killed those expectations I told you about, it's not a bad one but personally it didn't catch me at all. As for the actors as I said there is not much to say about them, they are characters whose actions are limited to talk through a screen so those acting skills are not very exploited.

Storm quizás fue la que probablemente entregó más drama y tensión al film, siempre vivía con una angustia perenne y eso si se logra apreciar. Me gustó la participación de Joaquim de Almeida quien es más conocido como Hernán Reyes en Rápido y Furioso, en la historia es un personaje muy importante y verlo en otra faceta es como raro, de ahí a que me llamara la atención.

Storm was perhaps the one who probably delivered the most drama and tension to the film, she always lived with a perennial anguish and that can be appreciated. I liked the participation of Joaquim de Almeida who is better known as Hernan Reyes in Fast and Furious, in the story he is a very important character and seeing him in another facet is kind of weird, that's why it caught my attention.

Un 7.7/10. No entendí el porque de esa calificación tan alta, la película es buena pero hasta ahí, la considero una más del montón con la que te entretienes bastante las dos horas que dura y ya está. Si la recomiendo, creo que vale la pena que pasen por ese viaje cibernético, es interesante y agobiante a la vez. No esperen algo de mucho nivel, es muy básica pero como comenté cumple con su trabajo. Está disponible en Apple TV. Les dejo el tráiler por acá para que le echen un vistazo.

I didn't understand the reason for such a high rating, the movie is good but up to that point, I consider it one more of the bunch with which you are entertained enough for the two hours it lasts and that's it. If I recommend it, I think it's worth going through that cybernetic trip, it's interesting and overwhelming at the same time.
