Cuanto nos mienten los gobiernos? - yo creo que la respuesta a esa pregunta es infinita y la razón detrás de esas mentiras y secretos, para ellos, es la seguridad de una nación y la estabilidad en todos los componentes y sectores de un país; para mi? - pues la de salvaguardar intereses personales con la finalidad de seguir en el poder al costo que sea necesario. Siento que esto es el día a día en las altas esferas gubernamentales, planes fallidos y secretos de estado que por alguna razón salen a la luz y ponen en peligro esa estabilidad de la que les hablé anteriormente. Pues bueno esta serie va un poco por ese camino, uno el cual está lleno traiciones y corrupción hasta más no poder.

How much do governments lie to us? - I think the answer to that question is infinite and the reason behind those lies and secrets, for them, is the security of a nation and the stability in all the components and sectors of a country; for me? - For me, it is to safeguard personal interests in order to remain in power at any cost necessary. I feel that this is the daily life in the high governmental spheres, failed plans and state secrets that for some reason come to light and jeopardize the stability of which I spoke before. Well, this series goes a bit down that road, one that is full of betrayal and corruption to the max.

Es verdad que como esta serie hay muchas por ahí pero para mi lo que la diferencia de las demás es lo bien lograda y actuada que está además del hecho que desde el primer instante la trama te da una inyección de adrenalina y acción que te va a convertir en un adicto de la historia. Y es tan el éxito que está teniendo que en apenas horas de su estreno se confirmó que tendría una segunda temporada. Que se de esto con gente como Netflix cuya especialidad es cancelar contenido a diestra y siniestra por lo menos para mi es significativo. Así que bueno, vayamos y hablemos un poco de esta gran serie que llegó para llenar un poco de calidad ese catalogo de Netflix que está ligeramente en decadencia.

It is true that there are many series like this one out there, but for me what sets it apart from the rest is how well done and acted it is, besides the fact that from the very first moment the plot gives you an injection of adrenaline and action that will make you addicted to the story. And it is so successful that within hours of its premiere it was confirmed that it would have a second season. That this is happening with people like Netflix whose specialty is to cancel content left and right, at least for me, is significant. So well, let's go and talk a little about this great series that came to fill a little quality that Netflix catalog that is slightly in decline.

Esta complicada trama comienza con Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), un agente del FBI que acaba de iniciar su camino en la Casa Blanca trabajando detrás de un teléfono que tiene la particularidad de que nunca suena o no debería de hacerlo. Por qué? - pues porque esa es una línea de emergencia de la propia Casa Blanca y si llegara a sonar es sinónimo de que algo muy malo está por ocurrir. Oh sorpresa, una noche el teléfono suena lo que sorprende a Peter quien al atender se da cuenta de que en efecto hay algo grande ocurriendo; una masiva conspiración que puede que incluya a los funcionarios de más nivel del gobierno incluyendo a la ocupante del despacho Oval, la presidenta de los Estados Unidos.

This complicated plot begins with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), an FBI agent who has just started his journey at the White House working behind a phone that has the peculiarity that it never rings or should not ring. Why is that? - Well, because it is a White House emergency line and if it does ring, it means that something very bad is about to happen. Oh surprise, one night the phone rings which surprises Peter who upon picking it up realizes that there is indeed something big going on; a massive conspiracy that may include the highest level government officials including the occupant of the Oval Office, the President of the United States.

Justo en ese instante cuando Sutherland atiende la llamada da inicio a una cuenta atrás para buscar descubrir y neutralizar cualquiera que sea el plan que se está gestando. A partir de acá todo será desconfianza, mentiras y espionaje acompañados de una acción trepidante de principio a fin. Y es que la combinación de todos esos elementos es la clave para que esta serie sea lo que es, una increíblemente entretenida pero con una carga de drama político muy importante, diría que es hasta un thriller muy bien hecho en donde la desesperación y las ansías por descubrir la verdad los va a consumir poco a poco a medida que los capítulos van avanzando.

Just at that moment when Sutherland answers the call, a countdown begins as he seeks to uncover and neutralize whatever plan is being hatched. From this point on, it's all about mistrust, lies and espionage accompanied by fast-paced action from start to finish. And the combination of all these elements is the key to make this series what it is, an incredibly entertaining but with a load of very important political drama, I would say that it is even a very well done thriller where desperation and the desire to discover the truth will consume you little by little as the chapters progress.

Este tipo de series por lo general son muy directas ya que buscan ir a lo suyo sin mucho adorno ni relleno; primer episodio, menos de cinco minutos ya hay explosiones y persecuciones, así sin anestesia. Es en ese momento cuanto te das cuenta que aburrirte o pasarla mal no están en el vocabulario de la trama, todo lo contrario, la expectación que les va generar esos primeros minutos serán suficiente para que se queden enganchados los nueve capítulos restantes. Es esa trama toda complicada, con plot twist a cada rato, con agentes doble cara y una desconfianza a la orden del día lo que hace que por lo menos para mi sea un tanto creíble. Alguien me dijo que era un poco fantasiosa pero les pregunto, ustedes no creen que cosas como las que verán acá no suceden siempre en la Casa Blanca? - y sin querer ser conspiranoico pero si, esas amenazas deben de existir.

This type of series are usually very direct as they seek to go about their business without much embellishment or filler; first episode, less than five minutes and there are explosions and chases, without anesthesia. It is at that moment when you realize that boredom or having a bad time are not in the vocabulary of the plot, on the contrary, the expectation that will generate those first minutes will be enough to keep you hooked for the remaining nine chapters. It is this complicated plot, with plot twists at every turn, with double-faced agents and a distrust that makes it somewhat credible, at least for me. Someone told me that it was a little fantasy but I ask you, don't you think that things like what you will see here don't always happen in the White House? - And without wanting to be conspiranoid but yes, those threats must exist.

La acción es otro plato relevante aquí. Si bien es verdad todo se mueve más en un nivel diplomático en donde las decisiones se toman en un oficina a puertas cerradas la acción de la que somos testigos es bastante top. Todas las persecuciones, combates cuerpo a cuerpo, explosiones, enfrentamientos armados y todo lo referente a esto la verdad es que está muy bien logrado, la producción se nota que fue algo que se cuidó bien, no hay algo que tu digas que se quedó corto o a mitad de camino. Y es que repito, con todo lo que les estoy diciendo siento que la acción no es el genero principal y aún así da la sensación de que lo es.

The action is another relevant dish here. While it is true that everything moves more on a diplomatic level where decisions are made in an office behind closed doors, the action we witness is pretty top notch. All the chases, hand to hand combat, explosions, armed confrontations and everything related to this, the truth is that it is very well done, you can tell that the production was something that was well taken care of, there is nothing that you say that it fell short or halfway. And I repeat, with everything I'm saying I feel that action is not the main genre and yet it gives the feeling that it is.

Pero si hay algo que muy sinceramente me llamó la atención es la construcción de los personajes. Por lo general son dos o tres los que sobresalen, en esta oportunidad no es así, casi todos por no decir la mayoría son personajes que tienen un peso y una historia super interesante. Lo cool es que todos tienen algo que contar, la serie se encarga de darles un pequeño contexto para que el espectador entienda de donde vienen, por que están ahí y la razones de sus acciones. Todos y cada uno de ellos están excelentemente actuados, hasta los protagonistas secundarios tienen cierto peso que en algún punto de la trama son relevantes y de interés para el desarrollo de la historia. Este para mi es el gran acierto de esta serie, los personajes que le dan vida a una gran conspiración apoyados con un drama y una frialdad bastante interesante.

But if there is something that sincerely caught my attention is the construction of the characters. Usually there are two or three that stand out, but this time it's not like that, almost all of them, if not most of them are characters that have a weight and a super interesting story. The cool thing is that they all have something to tell, the series is responsible for giving them a little context for the viewer to understand where they come from, why they are there and the reasons for their actions. Each and every one of them are excellently acted, even the secondary characters have some weight that at some point in the plot are relevant and of interest to the development of the story. This for me is the great success of this series, the characters that give life to a great conspiracy supported with a drama and a very interesting coldness.

Gabriel Basso, un actor nuevo, por lo menos para mi, creo que borda muy bien el papel del agente todoterreno; cuando le toca ser analítico y sobre todo físico cumple a cabalidad con el personaje. Es el típico agente con un conflicto en su pasado por lo que sus hombros tienen mucho peso, así que fallar no es una opción. Luciane Buchanan (Rose Larkin) es la "ayudante" de Peter, es quien estará a su lado por circunstancias de la historia. Un personaje sencillo la cual viene a ser el lado sensible y humano de esta pareja. Pero es Hong Chau (Diane Farr) la que creo se lleva toda la atención. Una mujer con una convicción muy fuerte pero que deberá escoger que es lo que mejor le conviene. Muy sobria actuación, de verdad que si, diría que es de lo mejor de esta serie.

Gabriel Basso, a new actor, at least for me, I think he embroiders very well the role of the all-terrain agent; when it's his turn to be analytical and above all physical, he fulfills the character to the fullest. He is the typical agent with a conflict in his past so his shoulders carry a lot of weight, so failure is not an option. Luciane Buchanan (Rose Larkin) is Peter's "assistant", who will be at his side due to circumstances of the story. A simple character who comes to be the sensitive and human side of this couple. But it is Hong Chau (Diane Farr) who I think gets all the attention. A woman with a very strong conviction but who will have to choose what is best for her. Very understated performance, really yes, I would say she is one of the best in this series.

Pero es que todos, Christopher Shyer quien hace del Vice Presidente, su hija Maddie; dos agentes del Servicio Secreto y hasta dos asesinos s sueldo son grandes personajes pero hablar de cada uno es extenderse mucho. Cada uno aporta algo importante a la historia y eso es algo que se valora. A esta serie le doy un ***9/10*** porque se las trae, es muy buena en todos los sentidos. Actuaciones top, buena acción, una intriga al máximo, conspiraciones y espías por doquier. La recomiendo altamente y más sabiendo que habrá segunda temporada. But everyone, Christopher Shyer who plays the Vice President, his daughter Maddie; two Secret Service agents and even two assassins for hire are great characters but to talk about each one is to extend too much. Each one brings something important to the story and that is something that is appreciated. I give this series a 9/10 because it is very good in every way. Top performances, good action, intrigue to the maximum, conspiracies and spies everywhere. I highly recommend it and even more knowing that there will be a second season.
