En el mundo del cine se habla de muchas sagas pero pocas veces se comenta acerca de esta y de lo increíblemente famosa y exitosa que es, esto último bajo mi opinión. Esta aventura inicia por allá en el año 2007 cuando Michael Bay decidió llevar al cine a estos personajes de series animadas y juguetes para que 16 años después todavía podamos seguir disfrutando del camino de los Autobots y su afán de recuperar lo que alguna vez fue su mundo. Han sido 6 películas dedicadas a los Transformers como tal y una que vendría siendo un spin-off de Bumblebee, que de hecho fue la última que vimos en el 2018, las que finalmente conforman este vasto universo de estos robots los cuales cada vez se nos presentan un poco más humanizados.
In the world of cinema, many sagas are talked about but this one is rarely commented about and how incredibly famous and successful it is, the latter in my opinion. This adventure began back in 2007 when Michael Bay decided to bring to the movies these characters from animated series and toys so that 16 years later we can still enjoy the path of the Autobots and their eagerness to recover what was once their world. There have been 6 films dedicated to the Transformers as such and one that would become a spin-off of Bumblebee, which in fact was the last one we saw in 2018, which finally make up this vast universe of these robots which are increasingly presented to us a little more humanized.
Esta nueva entrega explora un poco los inicios del camino de Optimus Prime y sus hermanos para, como ya dije, encontrar la forma de volver a Cybertron solo que en esta oportunidad tendrá a unos aliados un tanto particulares y esencia superiores. La verdad es que cuando comencé a ver la película no sabía del todo de que iba o que esperar, no leí sinopsis ni nada por lo que ese salto al pasado me sorprendió un poco. He visto las 7 películas de esta saga pero decir que las tengo claras en mi mente es mentira en el sentido de escoger cuales han sido las más top pero en un intento por poner a prueba mi memoria diría que las primeras han sido de las mejores, aquellas protagonizadas por Shia LaBeouf y Megan Fox. Pero bueno, vayamos y hablemos un poco de lo más reciente.
This new installment explores the beginnings of the path of Optimus Prime and his brothers to, as I said, find a way to return to Cybertron only this time he will have a somewhat particular allies and superior essence. The truth is that when I started watching the movie I didn't know what to expect, I didn't read the synopsis or anything, so this jump to the past surprised me a little. I have seen the 7 movies of this saga but to say that I have them clear in my mind is a lie in the sense of choosing which have been the top ones but in an attempt to test my memory I would say that the first ones have been the best, those starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. But well, let's go and talk a little bit about the most recent ones.
Esta parte de la historia tiene dos aristas. La primera es la que involucra a la parte humana y es acá en donde entra Noah Díaz (Anthony Ramos), un exmilitar de los Estados Unidos quien está lidiando con el desempleo y con la enfermedad de su hermano menor. Los malos pasos, ante la necesidad, lo llevarán a tener un encuentro cercano con unos de estos Autobots y de ahí en adelante la trama se contará sola. En paralelo también tenemos a Elena Wallace (Dominique Fishback) quien es una trabajadora de un museo la cual encuentra una extraña figura que termina siendo una de las piezas claves de toda esta historia. La cosa es que diferentes acontecimientos harán que ellos se conozcan y eventualmente su viaje se ligue con el de Optimus Prime y compañía.
This part of the story has two sides. The first is the one that involves the human side and this is where Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos), an ex-military man from the United States who is dealing with unemployment and the illness of his younger brother, comes in. The bad steps, in the face of necessity, will lead him to have a close encounter with one of these Autobots and from then on the plot will tell itself. In parallel we also have Elena Wallace (Dominique Fishback) who is a museum worker who finds a strange figure that ends up being one of the key pieces of the whole story. The thing is that different events will make them meet and eventually their journey will be linked with Optimus Prime and company.
Y la segunda arista es la que implica a los Maximals, una especie o raza mucho más avanzada de cybertronianos, quienes son los poseedores de una llave la cual es capaz de abrir portales desafiando el tiempo y el especio. La realidad es que su mundo fue destruido por Unicron, ya muy conocido por todos, por lo que estos seres se refugiaron en la tierra con el fin de pasar desapercibidos y así tener dicha llave segura y escondida. El líder de estos Maximals es Optimus Primal quien de la mano con Optimus Prime buscarán defender a la tierra de Scourge, el lacayo de Unicron quien está tras la llave. Es justo aquí donde tanto humanos como robots se unen para hacer frente a la amenaza contra los Decepticons.
And the second side is the one that involves the Maximals, a much more advanced species or race of cybertronians, who are the holders of a key which is able to open portals defying time and space. The reality is that their world was destroyed by Unicron, already well known to all, so these beings took refuge on earth in order to go unnoticed and thus have the key safe and hidden. The leader of these Maximals is Optimus Primal who together with Optimus Prime will try to defend the earth from Scourge, Unicron's lackey who is after the key. It is here that both humans and robots unite to confront the threat against the Decepticons.
Lo primero ha mencionar es que esta película no está a cargo de Michael Bay, si bien es verdad que es uno de los productores no es el director, ese rol es de Steven Caple Jr, un joven quien se catapultó tras dirigir Creed II. Esto lo digo porque este cambio es posible que nos haya hecho pensar sobre la posibilidad de ver algo diferente en lo que a realización se refiere o dentro de la misma trama pero la verdad es que no. El detalle con estas películas es que a pesar de que me gustan mucho son todas iguales, no veo una mejora tanto en el desarrollo de los personajes como en las propias escenas con CGI, tampoco es que existe un retroceso, ojo, pero si que es verdad que con el pasar de los años todo se ha mantenido en una misma línea sin muchos cambios; es como que quieren mantener la esencia.
The first thing to mention is that this film is not in charge of Michael Bay, although it is true that he is one of the producers, he is not the director, that role belongs to Steven Caple Jr, a young man who catapulted after directing Creed II. I say this because this change may have made us think about the possibility of seeing something different in terms of realization or within the same plot, but the truth is that it is not. The detail with these movies is that even though I like them a lot, they are all the same, I don't see an improvement in the development of the characters or in the CGI scenes themselves, not that there is a setback, but it is true that over the years everything has remained in the same line without many changes; it's like they want to keep the essence.
En lo personal me hubiese gustado ver un poco más de contexto acerca de los Maximals, creo que son personajes muy top y muy bien logrados pero en esta película apenas se habla de ellos y de sus orígenes, creo que un poco más de profundidad acerca de esta nueva raza hubiese estado mejor porque pienso que había potencial allí. En cambio seguimos viendo mucho énfasis en Optimus Prime y en su personalidad proteccionista y paternal y en la hermandad real que existe alrededor de todos estos Autobots. No me quejo pero es lo que vengo diciendo, tenemos 6 películas en este plan, se podía haber hecho algo un tanto diferente. Aún así las escenas en donde todos se unen bajo un mismo objetivo son de las mejores, mucha acción y sentimentalismo al mismo tiempo, porque si, esto último es un sello de la franquicia, las conexiones emocionales que uno el espectador puede formar con estos robots.
Personally I would have liked to see a little more context about the Maximals, I think they are very top characters and very well done but this movie barely talks about them and their origins, I think a little more depth about this new race would have been better because I think there was potential there. Instead we still see a lot of emphasis on Optimus Prime and his protective and fatherly personality and the actual brotherhood that exists around all these Autobots. I'm not complaining but it's what I've been saying, we have 6 movies in this plan, something a little different could have been done. Still the scenes where they all unite under the same goal are some of the best, lots of action and sentimentality at the same time, because yes, the latter is a hallmark of the franchise, the emotional connections that one the viewer can form with these robots.
La película nunca me aburrió, al contrario, tiene unas buenas dosis de comedia, como ha sido siempre, lo que la hace muy disfrutable. La acción también está presente en la forma de batallas épicas a gran escala que estas bestias nos tienen acostumbrados. En este film en concreto parte de la acción se desarrolla en Perú, en el Machu Pichu, lo que hace que todo sea más surrealista todavía ya que estamos viendo como gran parte de la acción se da en una de las maravillas del mundo y eso si, sin ningún policía o fuerza humana del orden que intervenga. Dañan un museo y llegan patrullas, pelean en el mismo Machu Pichu y no aparece nadie, curioso por no decir menos. Probablemente sean detalles tontos pero me fijo en eso y creo que debería de haber un poco de congruencia.
The movie never bored me, on the contrary, it has a good dose of comedy, as it has always been, which makes it very enjoyable. The action is also present in the form of large scale epic battles that these beasts have accustomed us to. In this particular film part of the action takes place in Peru, in Machu Pichu, which makes everything even more surreal as we are seeing how much of the action takes place in one of the wonders of the world and that if, without any police or human force of order to intervene. They damage a museum and patrols arrive, they fight in Machu Pichu itself and no one shows up, curious to say the least. Probably they are silly details but I look at that and I think there should be a little congruence.
Los personajes. El cast está formado por Pete Davidson, Peter Cullen, la famosa voz de Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman, otro icono, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage, entre otros. La cosa es que a ninguno los verás actuar más allá de sus voces. Para mi este trabajo es vital porque cada uno tiene una personalidad que lo distingue, poner voz a un robot y lograr crear una conexión y empatía es muy complejo de lograr. Creo que el mejor en esta entrega fue Mirage a cargo de Pete Davidson, muy natural y fluido. En cuanto a los humanos debo decir que para mi fueron cualquier cosa, rescato un poco más Anthony que a Dominique por la relación con su hermano y porque le tocó vestirse de héroe, literalmente. Personajes no de relleno pero perfectamente olvidables y si ningún tipo de relevancia.
The characters. The cast includes Pete Davidson, Peter Cullen, the famous voice of Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman, another icon, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage, among others. The thing is that you won't see any of them acting beyond their voices. For me this work is vital because each one has a personality that distinguishes them, to put voice to a robot and create a connection and empathy is very complex to achieve. I think the best in this installment was Mirage by Pete Davidson, very natural and fluid. As for the humans I must say that for me they were anything, I rescue a little more Anthony than Dominique because of his relationship with his brother and because he had to dress up as a hero, literally. Characters not filler but perfectly forgettable and without any kind of relevance.
Aún así la película me gustó, para mi no es un fraude ni una pérdida de tiempo. No es la mejor de la saga sin dudas pero creo que tampoco es la peor. Le doy un 7.5/10, me gustaron los Maximals a pesar de no saber mucho de ellos, siempre Optimus Prime con su pandilla es algo muy divertido de ver, las escenas de acción y efectos estuvieron buenas y siempre la comedia dando un toque diferente. Dura aproximadamente dos horas. Por acá les dejo el tráiler.
I still liked the movie, for me it's not a fraud or a waste of time. It's not the best of the saga without a doubt but I don't think it's the worst either. I give it a 7.5/10, I liked the Maximals despite not knowing much about them, always Optimus Prime with his gang is something fun to watch, the action scenes and effects were good and always the comedy giving a different touch. It lasts approximately two hours. Here is the trailer.

Aprecio este soft reboot, aunque a mí parecer no se solventaron todos los errores que caracterizaban a las películas de Michael Bay (una oportunidad perdida), sigue siendo entretenida... Veremos qué hacen con el cliffhanger.
