Hello film and television-loving friends, I hope you are doing very well. I was really looking forward to watching the new movie by director Adam Rehmeier: Carolina Caroline, because I like movies featuring Kyle Gallner ever since I saw him in Dinner in America. This story lean more toward drama and thriller, where we see the story of two people who, despite being complete strangers, form a rather dangerous bond that leads them to make risky decisions—which is what gives meaning to the entire story. So if you like stories featuring police chases and armed robberies, you might like this movie.
The story takes us to Texas, where a young woman named Caroline (Samara Weaving) works at a service station. Her life is actually quite monotonous; she has no one else besides her father, with whom she has lived since childhood after her mother abandoned them. But on an ordinary workday, a guy named Oliver (Kyle Gallner) walks in with a seemingly normal attitude, though he immediately catches Caroline's attention. Oliver plays a sort of game with the money he uses to pay for items from the convenience store, and Caroline clearly knows he is scamming the owner.
This instantly brings them together. At first, they just spend time together, but then Caroline realizes that Oliver has a unique way of looking at the world, especially money. She begins wanting to do the same things he does, which is basically scamming people by making them believe he is actually helping them by giving them extra money as payment for a service or product. Caroline finds this lifestyle that Oliver leads interesting and starts practicing so she can also rob or scam other people. What starts as petty thefts soon escalates into large sums of money.
Both Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving have really great chemistry throughout the movie; it genuinely feels like they are soulmates who have just found each other. The only thing is they aren't leading a normal life—amid robberies that escalate to changing identities, cars, and locations just to keep getting more money. The movie turns into a chase when the police realize it has become a habit for a woman to walk into certain banks and hold people hostage until she walks away with the money. Both think they have everything under control and that no one will catch them, but sooner or later, things start to go wrong.
The setting has a very small-town style, where the characters travel through neighborhoods, bars, hotels, and places where they start a rather dangerous romance. Both feel they have everything well calculated and will never be caught. Perhaps this gives even more meaning to their relationship strengthening, as both also come from pasts where they were abandoned and feel they are made for each other. The music also adds a touch of excitement to the story, keeping you entertained as you watch how they play with people's minds and trust to get money.
I really liked the movie; I feel I loved the chemistry between the actors and that it's one of those lower-production films that still keeps you hooked until the end. I liked the idea of how two people can figure out a way to steal so much money and lie in so many ways just to get what they want—of course, in real life, that is quite wrong. However, it has a pretty good ending; although it wasn't what I expected, I think it was perfect for the situation both characters experienced. Sometimes it's hard to leave bad habits behind 🤪🫢😂; I recommend you watch it.

Hola amigos amantes del cine y la televisión, espero se encuentren muy bien. Tenía muchas ganas de ver la nueva película del director Adam Rehmeier: Carolina Caroline, porque me gustan las películas donde aparece Kyle Gallner desde que lo vi en Dinner in America. Esta historia es más de drama y thriller donde vemos la historia de dos personas que aunque no se conocen de nada, llegan a formar un vínculo bastante peligroso en donde terminan tomando decisiones arriesgadas y es lo que le da sentido a toda la historia. Asi que si les gustan las historias donde existe persecución policiaca y los robos a mano armada, está película podría gustarles.
La historia nos lleva a Texas donde una joven llamada Caroline (Samara Weaving) trabaja en una estación de servicios, realmente su vida es bastante monótona y no tiene nada más que a su padre con el que vive desde pequeña después de que su madre los abandonara. Pero un día normal de trabajo entra un chico llamado Oliver (Kyle Gallner) con una actitud aparentemente normal aunque llama la atención de inmediato de Caroline. Oliver hace una especie de juego con el dinero que está pagando por cosas que se lleva de la tienda de servicios y claramente Caroline sabe que está estafando al dueño.
Esto los une de inmediato, al comienzo pasan el tiempo juntos pero luego Caroline se da cuenta de que Oliver tiene una forma peculiar de ver el mundo pero sobre todo el dinero. Ella empieza a querer hacer las mismas cosas que él, que básicamente es estafar a las personas haciéndoles creer que en realidad las está ayudando dándoles más dinero como pago por un servicio o producto. Caroline encuentra interesante esta forma de vida que lleva Oliver y empieza a practicar para ella también poder robar o estafar a otras personas. Donde al comienzo son pequeños robos pero luego se convierten en grandes sumas de dinero.
Tanto Kyle Gallner cómo Samara Weaving tienen una química bastante buena durante toda la película, realmente se siente que son almas gemelas que se acaban de encontrar. Solo que no están teniendo una vida normal, entre robos que van escalando hasta lograr cambiar de identidad, de autos y de lugares para seguir obteniendo más dinero. La película se vuelve una persecución cuando la policía se da cuenta de que ya es algo habitual que una mujer llega a ciertos bancos y somete a las personas hasta llevarse el dinero. Ambos creen que tienen todo bajo control y que nadie los atrapará pero tarde o temprano las cosas empiezan a salir mal.
La escenografía es muy de estilo pueblerino, donde los personajes recorren barrios, bares, hoteles y lugares donde empiezan a tener un romance bastante peligroso. Ambos sienten que tienen todo bien calculado, que nunca serán atrapados. Tal vez esto le da más sentido a que su relación se fortalezca porque ambos vienen también de pasados donde fueron abandonados y sienten que están hechos el uno para el otro. La música también le da el toque de emoción a la historia, hace que te entretengas viendo como juegan con la mente y la confianza de las personas para obtener dinero.
La película me gusto bastante, siento que me encantó la química de los actores y que es de esas películas que no están tan producidas pero aún así te mantienen viéndola hasta el final. Me gusto la idea de cómo dos personas pueden ingeniárselas para robar tanto dinero y para mentir de tantas formas con tal de obtener lo que desean, claro que en la vida real eso está bastante mal. Sin embargo, tiene un final bastante bueno aunque no era lo que esperaba pero creo que fue perfecto para la situación que vivieron ambos personajes. Algunas veces es difícil dejar malos hábitos atrás 🤪🫢😂, les recomiendo verla.
