Saludos, amigos. Hoy voy a compartir las impresiones de la más reciente versión de Batman. Según mi criterio, la película tiene un metraje muy largo para lo que allí se desarrolla, por lo tanto, se advierten escenas tediosas porque no aportan nada relevante a la historia, logrando que se pierda el interés. Esta propuesta, desde el principio, supone que el espectador posee todas las referencias para comprender lo que se está presentando y eso es un error, puesto que los antecedentes son muy diversos. Confieso que al enterarme de que Robert Pattinson sería el protagonista, mis expectativas disminuyeron y no me equivoqué. El actor permanece atado a la sombra de Edward Cullen, su personaje en la saga Crepúsculo, de allí que su representación de Bruce Wayne sea gris y su Batman atormentado y taciturno. La típica representación de un Emo, muy distante del empresario galán y filántropo, que oculta una razón para transformarse en justiciero.
Resulta inevitable no dirigir la mirada a la trilogía de Batman dirigida por Christopher Nolan y protagonizada por Christian Bale, es un punto de comparación porque en cada filme de Batman se espera algo mejor, pero lo que ha llegado al cine han sido proyectos fallidos. La infame Batman v Superman de Zack Snyder es olvidable con un Ben Affleck que no se amoldaba a lo que es Bruce Wayne y resulta que de nuevo cometen un costoso error de casting al seleccionar a Pattinson, quien se presenta como un despojo social que tuvo la suerte de nacer en una familia adinerada. Más allá de un guion un tanto incoherente, el actor se muestra muy limitado, no hay matices en él, no muestra rudeza o enojo, no se distingue la dualidad que debe regir la representación Wayne/Batman. Del maquillaje demacrado y sus ojos permanentemente negros ni hablar, más la escenografía oscura y lluviosa, parecía más una aproximación a El Cuervo de Álex Proyas.
En virtud de lo previo, en pantalla se observa a un Bruce Wayne y a un Batman compartiendo la misma expresión. No hay ninguna diferencia con su alter ego. Batman habita en una atmósfera oscura y busca vengarse de los malos, mientras que Bruce lleva una opulenta vida de millonario. En este punto, fijo posición y me quedo con el trabajo realizado por Christian Bale. Y es que esta historia de Matt Reeves y Peter Craig se aleja, de forma abismal, de las entregas anteriores del Caballero de la Noche, el referente que posee la mayoría de los seguidores del personaje. Aquí Bruce prácticamente es un secundario que cede toda la escena a Batman, lo que resulta un aspecto novedoso, mas no acertado.

This proposal, from the beginning, assumes that the viewer has all the references to understand what is being presented and that is a mistake, since the backgrounds are very diverse. I confess that when I found out that Robert Pattinson would be the protagonist, my expectations lowered and I was not wrong. The actor remains tied to the shadow of Edward Cullen, his character in the Twilight saga, hence his representation of Bruce Wayne is gray and his Batman is tormented and taciturn. The typical representation of an Emo, very distant from the gallant businessman and philanthropist, who hides a reason to become a vigilante.
It is inevitable not to look at the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, it is a point of comparison because something better is expected in each Batman film, but what has come to the cinema have been failed projects. Zack Snyder's infamous Batman v Superman is forgettable with Ben Affleck not conforming to what Bruce Wayne is and it turns out that they once again make a costly casting mistake by casting Pattinson, who is featured as a social dispossession who was lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family. Beyond a somewhat incoherent script, the actor is very limited, there are no nuances in him, he does not show rudeness or anger, the duality that should govern the Wayne/Batman representation is not distinguished. From the emaciated makeup and her permanently black eyes, not to mention, plus the dark and rainy scenery, it seemed more like an approximation to El Cuervo by Álex Proyas.
By virtue of the foregoing, a Bruce Wayne and a Batman are seen on screen sharing the same expression. There is no difference with his alter ego. Batman dwells in a dark atmosphere and seeks revenge on the bad guys, while Bruce leads the opulent life of a millionaire. At this point, I take a stand and stick with the work done by Christian Bale. And it is that this story of Matt Reeves and Peter Craig moves away, in an abysmal way, from the previous installments of the Dark Knight, the reference that most of the followers of the character have. Here Bruce is practically a secondary who gives the entire scene to Batman, which is a novel aspect, but not successful.
Sé que estos elementos están dispuestos en pantalla de forma intencional, justo para crear una nueva mirada, explorar un lado que no se había visto antes, sin embargo, me parece una apuesta perdedora porque no se respeta la esencia de la versión original de los Cómics. La doble personalidad que sostiene a Batman se resquebraja, parece que los días no tienen divisiones y todo fue narrado en pocas horas. Una oscuridad que llega a causar un efecto claustrofóbico y repulsivo, un Batman que no representa un símbolo aterrador para los criminales, en una Ciudad Gótica donde la verosimilitud es frágil a lo largo de las tramas. La inserción a la fuerza de un desfile de villanos es otro punto que bordea lo absurdo, al igual que el romance planteado.
Acá se nos muestra a Ciudad Gótica más corrupta y violenta, donde impera el crimen en todos sus estratos. La vida es viciosa y deprimente, de allí la ambientación funesta, que no está mal para emitir un mensaje, pero es tan recurrente que termina cansando. La fotografía es demasiado oscura, nos hundimos en una penumbra que se dibuja eterna. Es evidente que el tono sepia y el filtro opaco son a propósito, no obstante, importantes detalles de diversas escenas se pierden ante tanta lobreguez. Ocultaron tanto las imperfecciones debajo de la fina tela de la noche que no quedó nada destacable a la vista.
Se supone que uno de los objetivos de Batman es hacer que la ciudad mejore, él quiere contribuir a crear oportunidades para la redención y que los habitantes tengan esperanzas. Ese sería el mensaje central. No obstante, presenciamos un argumento inconsistente donde hay muchas lagunas, asumen el riesgo de suponer que cada espectador conoce a estos personajes, por tal razón y, sin mayores explicaciones, los presentan de forma caótica, lo que produce una acumulación de incertidumbres que cuestionan el soporte de la historia. Apelar a la memoria colectiva para respaldar esta propuesta es un error colosal porque entonces este largometraje inició en otra parte.
I know that these elements are intentionally arranged on the screen, just to create a new look, explore a side that had not been seen before, however, it seems to me a losing bet because the essence of the original version of the Comics is not respected . The dual personality that sustains Batman cracks, it seems that the days have no divisions and everything was narrated in a few hours. A darkness that comes to cause a claustrophobic and repulsive effect, a Batman who does not represent a terrifying symbol for criminals, in a Gotham City where credibility is fragile throughout the plots. The forceful insertion of a parade of villains is another point that borders on the absurd, as is the romance raised.
Here we are shown the most corrupt and violent Gotham City, where crime reigns in all its strata. Life is vicious and depressing, hence the dire setting, which is not bad for sending out a message, but is so recurrent that it ends up getting tiring. Photography is too dark, we sink into a penumbra that is drawn eternal. It is evident that the sepia tone and the opaque filter are on purpose, however, important details of various scenes are lost in the gloom. They hid the imperfections so well under the thin fabric of the night that nothing remarkable was left in sight.
One of Batman's goals is supposed to be to make the city better, he wants to help create opportunities for redemption and for the inhabitants to have hope. That would be the core message. However, we witness an inconsistent argument where there are many gaps, they take the risk of assuming that each viewer knows these characters, for that reason and, without further explanation, they present them in a chaotic way, which produces an accumulation of uncertainties that question the history support. Appealing to the collective memory to support this proposal is a colossal mistake because then this feature film started somewhere else.
También me parece que el tiempo fue mal utilizado. Tras el desenlace se cae en cuenta que sobraron muchos minutos para lo que se planteó. En esta entrega, el antagonista principal es Enigma, desde el principio se presenta como si se tratara de otro Guasón de Nolan. Los acertijos dispuestos a lo largo de la trama pueden resultar entretenidos, pero allí está un Batman infalible que, sin mucho análisis, resuelve cada incógnita, sin equivocarse, y más allá de avanzar, ralentiza la historia. Las escenas de acción son muy escasas y se ocultan ante tanta oscuridad.
En lo que respecta a los personajes, Colin Farrell personifica a El Pingüino y luce desaprovechado, es una parodia de lo que es uno de los antagonistas más representativos del universo de Batman, acá fue degradado sin miramientos. La inclusión de Zoë Kravitz como Gatúbela resultó interesante hasta cierto punto, pero al adentrase en el personaje va perdiendo consistencia hasta lograr que no se justifiquen sus actos, pese a que salva algunas escenas con su actuación, el guion la dispersa y, por momentos, queda como simple comparsa. La presencia de Alfred fue casi testimonial, no tiene incidencia en la trama y su personaje queda desperdiciado con un Andy Serkis del que se podía sacar mucho jugo.
Mención aparte está la actuación de Paul Dano como Enigma, logra una caracterización cercana a la de un psicópata, del cual nos ofrecen poca información más allá de su niñez y las razones para atentar contra Batman y la sociedad que defiende. No obstante, está muy lejos del antihéroe de los Cómics porque también lo sumergen en las tinieblas y le hacen perder su gracia distintiva. En el cine, el Enigma interpretado por Jim Carrey, representa una versión más parecida por la extravagancia que le imprimió a su personaje, con todo y el tono carnavalesco de aquella versión de Batman.
Con toda sinceridad, esta película no me gustó. En reiteradas ocasiones, pensé en dejar de verla por lo incoherente, tediosa y oscura. Las tramas carecen de fuerza y resultan demasiado superficiales. La maldad o bondad no tiene líneas profundas de caracterización y, justamente allí, se pierde todo sentido. A mi juicio, la interpretación de Pattinson es patética, el guion carece de verosimilitud... Honestamente, los ejecutivos de DC deberían olvidarse de Batman por un buen rato.
Regarding the characters, Colin Farrell personifies The Penguin and he looks wasted, he is a parody of what is one of the most representative antagonists of the Batman universe, here he was unceremoniously demoted. The inclusion of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman was interesting to a certain extent, but as she gets into the character she loses consistency until her actions are not justified, despite the fact that she saves some scenes with her performance, the script disperses her and, at times, It remains as a simple troupe. Alfred's presence was almost testimonial, it has no impact on the plot and his character is wasted with an Andy Serkis from whom a lot of juice could be drawn.
Special mention is the performance of Paul Dano as Enigma, he achieves a characterization close to that of a psychopath, of whom they offer us little information beyond his childhood and the reasons for attacking Batman and the society he defends. However, he is very far from the anti-hero of the Comics because they also plunge him into darkness and make him lose his distinctive grace. In the cinema, the Enigma played by Jim Carrey, represents a more similar version due to the extravagance that he imprinted on his character, complete with the carnivalesque tone of that version of Batman.
In all honesty, I didn't like this movie. On repeated occasions, I thought about stopping seeing it because of how incoherent, tedious and dark it was. The plots lack strength and are too superficial. Evil or goodness does not have deep lines of characterization and, precisely there, all meaning is lost. In my opinion, Pattinson's performance is pathetic, the script lacks credibility... Honestly, DC executives should forget about Batman for a while.
