It all begins with Joe Gardner, a high school music teacher in New York City. Although he teaches, he's not particularly passionate about it because his true dream is to become a professional jazz musician. Suddenly, he's presented with the opportunity of a lifetime: to play at a prestigious jazz club with a renowned artist. On that very day, incredibly excited about having achieved his goal, he gets distracted, falls down a manhole, and slips into a deep coma.

At that moment, his soul separates from his body and begins its journey to the "Afterlife." Realizing that his life is about to end at its peak, Joe resists dying and, in his attempt to escape, accidentally ends up in the "Backworld": the place where new souls receive their tastes, interests, and personality before they are born.

To find a way back to his world, Joe poses as the mentor of "22," a rebellious soul who has been trapped there for centuries because she is unable to obtain her "spark," the essential requirement for passage to Earth. They strike a deal: Joe will help her find her spark, and in return, she will give him her pass so he can return to his body.

However, the plans go awry. While attempting to return to Earth, an accident occurs, and the roles are reversed: 22's soul ends up trapped in Joe's body, while Joe himself becomes trapped inside a therapy cat. From there, we see a beautiful contrast. Since it's 22's first time in the physical world, he begins to enjoy the simplest things, like eating pizza or watching a leaf fall from a tree, while Joe is desperate and frustrated about getting his life back.

Eventually, they are both discovered and returned to the "Far Out." After a series of conflicts, Joe manages to keep the pass and returns to Earth. He finally manages to play at the jazz bar, and his performance is excellent. But after the concert, the film's true psychological twist occurs: Joe realizes he feels exactly the same as before.

This situation leaves us with one of the most beautiful reflections I've seen through the fable of the fish: we often spend our entire lives desperately searching for the ocean, without realizing that we are already swimming in it. The film teaches us that the "spark" isn't an obsessive goal or professional success, but simply the fact of being alive and knowing how to appreciate each day with balance and dignity.

I loved the movie and the message it conveys, which is why I give it my highest rating. It's fantastic, and you have to see it if you love motivational stories.

A new Apple TV series that I've only seen four episodes of, but it already has me hooked. We're all looking for something entertaining, and this series is perfect for passing the time (and having a little fun too). It's hilarious; at least for me, it's quite entertaining, and I've enjoyed four of the ten episodes, which are released one per week.

As the title suggests, the fun is guaranteed. Putting ordinary people with ordinary lives that spiral into chaos through extortion, lies, sex, and murder is a winning combination. What's more, the cast is excellent. Everyone is fantastic, from the insufferable characters to the calculating killer and the protagonist whose world is crumbling.

Paula is separated; her ex left her for a younger, more attractive coworker. They have a daughter and share custody. Of course, her ex has a better job and position, so the girl lives with him. Her life has become a mess: she works at a trashy newspaper with an inept boss and a couple of unbearable colleagues. How could things get any worse?

She makes the mistake of hiring male webcam escorts for virtual sex to alleviate her loneliness. Everything is about to go wrong. Lies and an attempted extortion will lead to a murder, of which she is the victim. Danger lurks; the police suspect her, and the killer is searching for her. Chaos takes over her life, while she simply feels sexual desire.

You don't need to demand much credibility in some situations; just let yourself be carried away by the story and enjoy it, because I laughed quite a bit and it also kept me on the edge of my seat. The combination of humor and tension is one of the strengths of this series.

Tatiana Maslany deserves all the praise. She's the one who gives her character all that energy, making us suffer with all the misfortunes that befall her. She makes mistake after mistake, and her character is a ticking time bomb that explodes wherever she goes. The problems will only continue to pile up.

I think she'll be nominated for an award for her role, and I already consider this series one of the funniest of the year. It's a role tailor-made for her. I think she's a very solid actress; I remember her very well from Orphan Black, a series I really like and where she demonstrated her talent. Here she has another great opportunity to shine.

Todos buscamos algo entretenido, y esta serie es perfecta para pasar un buen rato (y también para divertirse un poco). Original stories, straight out of fairy tales, but with a twist—difficult to take in and understand, reminiscent of those classic films—I came across the story of the man with scissors for hands. Does anyone remember it?

Aquí vemos una obra recreada en el ambiente de lo inimaginable, un hombre extravagante, que hace maravillas con sus manos de tijeras, cortes únicos y extraordinarios, con una sencillez, e ingenuidad indescriptible.

Pero lo mas peculiar de esta historia es su trasfondo, en el que vemos como la sociedad se deja llevar por las apariencias, algo que aun seguimos viendo hoy en día, y en un mundo lleno de caos, que llegue alguien extraño, sin conocimiento de lo que es la maldad, es objetivo de burlas, maltrato y rechazo.

Eduardo es victima de todo esto, en su mundo incomprendido, pero a la vez, conoce lo que es el verdadero amor, y la amistad verdadera, y eso es lo que se lleva en su mente y corazón.

Es una historia llena de drama, romance y fantasía, se las recomiendo, por si no la han visto, un clásico de los 90.

I recently watched The Substance (2024), a film starring one of my favorite artists, the brilliant Demi Moore. This film left me thinking a lot for several days. The plot revolves around the obsessive search for eternal youth and the relentless social pressure not to age. Honestly, I don't think it's wrong to want to look good; taking care of yourself is valid. However, the film reaffirmed for me that we must accept the passage of time with dignity. Old age is part of life; it's difficult to understand and accept, but we have to learn to live with it, always striving for a dignified, healthy, and balanced life.

The weight of the story rests on two main characters who reflect the same crisis. On one hand, Elizabeth Sparkles (Demi Moore), a fading celebrity who can't bear being replaced by the relentless passage of time, and on the other, Sue (Margaret Qualley), that younger, perfect, and radiant version who emerges as the ideal solution. The chemistry and psychological tension between the two is brutal, showing how ego and desperation can shatter a person.

At first, I confess that the film's ending disappointed me a little because of how extreme it becomes. However, analyzing it from a psychological perspective, I understood that this ending, although extremely dramatic and disturbing, perfectly highlights the central message. It's a stark metaphor that there are always consequences, especially when we cross the boundaries of nature and our own identity. It reminds us that trying to fragment ourselves to fit into impossible molds only destroys us. In the end, true beauty lies in reconciling with the mirror at every stage of our existence.

I recommend it about 80%. It's not Demi Moore's best film, but I know it will make you think.

I want to tell you about a work that, in my personal opinion, deserves a perfect 100/100: the beautiful Venezuelan novel Cumboto (1947), written by Ramón Díaz Sánchez. If you haven’t read it yet, today I’ll tell you why it’s an essential gem.

The Structure: A Perfect Puzzle

For me, this novel is not a simple linear narrative; it is a fascinating puzzle of jumbled memories that echoes on its own, waiting for that exact piece coming from afar to create the perfect fit. The story unfolds in a circular and episodic manner. The novel’s timeline is frozen in the memories of a stormy night, a bad night that “stirs the swamp lying dormant beneath the crust of the last 25 years.”

Through the evocative voice of Natividad, our main narrator, the action pauses in the first chapter to unfold the past sequentially and resumes masterfully the following morning. As E.M. Forster so aptly put it, the great merit of a story is to make the audience want to know what happens next, and I assure you that the mystery surrounding the library, the trunk, and the family secrets will captivate you from beginning to end.

Spiritual Doubts and Their People.

The most powerful core of the work lies in what Natividad himself calls his “spiritual doubts.” I am deeply moved by his identity crisis as he finds himself caught between two realities: “To which of the two worlds did I belong? To the one with the cheerful sun that gilds the mangoes and darkens the coconut’s flesh, causing the oil to seep out, or to the one with the white twilight that glides over the shiny, cold floors?” This dilemma is interwoven with fictional yet deeply real characters. From old Cervelión—a long, flute-like black man who connects the protagonist to his ancestral roots—to the silent Eduvige, the enigmatic Grandmother Anita with her prophetic trunk, and the taciturn white governess Frau Berza, who kept a secret while striking the piano keys at the White House.

A Canvas of Rhythm, Magic, and Poetry

What ultimately earns this work my highest rating is the lyrical power of its atmosphere. Díaz Sánchez writes with the mastery of a landscape painter: the wild rumble of drums, the nights of blue donkeys, the smell of firewood, and the singing of Black people hard at work blend with fantastical rituals and pure mysticism. It is an impeccable handling of light and darkness.

My verdict:

Cumboto’s greatest strength is the intelligent simplicity with which it is written. The author manages to transport us into a state of paradisiacal reverie without ever falling into cloying stories. It is poetic, it is intelligent, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to you!

It's over. It's finally over. This third and final season took a long time to film, there were problems, and it shows in the story. It aired approximately four years after the second season. Of course, Sam Levinson brought us the failed series The Idol during that time, which was utter garbage. I already gave my opinion on that show when it premiered; for me, it was a complete disappointment, and the worst part was that unbearable singer called The Weeknd.

Euphoria began as an innovative, provocative, and shocking series. Scandal was its weapon to attract audiences. The controversy arose due to its high sexual content. I remember social media being flooded with opinions about the scene in which a group of naked men exposed their genitals. All of that, which was provocative for the viewer at the time, now has no effect.

This last season didn't thrill me. What began as a story supposedly portraying a young generation of our time has become a strange pastiche, a mix of genres with some interesting elements, but it feels as if the characters of Euphoria have somehow slipped into the universe of another story: a crime thriller, complete with drug dealers and even a Western style with final showdowns. There are even segments inspired by B-movies.

It feels like a completely different story, dragging along the characters left over from the first two seasons. It's worth noting that when the series premiered, Zendaya was the most famous of the entire cast. Now, most of them are stars, with Emmy, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominations and even wins. Just as the characters have changed, so have the actors. They now have the same prestige as Zendaya.

Levinson continues to use sex as a weapon to provoke, but none of it excites me anymore. His disaster with The Idol had the same problem; it also had a high sexual content and couldn't prevent it from being a failure. Of course, with Ephoria things change, because even though the season is the worst of the three, having characters and acquaintances we loved or hated makes it more bearable.

It's in the visual aspect where Levinson continues to excel; he deserves the recognition. He does it very well. The problem is that nothing that happened managed to move me. I no longer cared about the characters, so when two important characters leave this world, I couldn't care less. I felt nothing.

The last episode also seemed very long to me, with all that semi-spiritual nonsense that Levinson tried to force in. There was a moment when I just wanted it all to end, a scene between Lexi and Cassie. Luckily, it was followed by a scene with good action, which woke me up again, because those two were making me sleepy with their chatter. Jules' character, beyond showing off her physical attributes, was quite distant. I mean, she's trans, but she has nice breasts.

There were complaints on social media from feminists about the character Sydney Sweeney plays, but it's all because, since she's labeled a right-wing woman who supports Trump, they want to attack her character, Cassie, and her hypersexualization. I loved the scene where she says she's not retarded when asked if she's a Democrat. That infuriated left-leaning Americans.

Seeing breasts, semi-nude bodies, and sex doesn't bother me (I love this), but even that didn't matter to me in this story. It has its positive and admirable aspects, but as a general conclusion, it strayed from the path in many ways. This time I’m bringing you this series—I’m sure many of you will recognize it, especially because of these two great characters, top-notch actors like Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. It’s a movie full of action, drama, and humor—a little bit of everything— and you definitely won’t get bored, because in every scene, you’ll see that serious yet funny side of these characters.

What This Story Is About

To tell you a little bit about this movie, for those who haven’t seen it yet, the story is about two cops who are forced to work together. They’re total opposites, but putting their differences aside, they team up to bring justice, catch the bad guys, and do their job—doing good.

As I mentioned, this film is part of a series consisting of four installments, each with a completely different story and new villains to catch. Yet these two men remain dedicated to their work as good cops, seeking to apprehend the criminals and murderers who want to kill them and their families. Their sole objective is to protect their loved ones and uphold the law.

What are these characters like?

They are undoubtedly completely different, with distinct personalities—one with a somewhat crazy, unbalanced, reckless nature, and the other, of course, serving as the counterbalance: more mature, centered, and serious. Both share a desire to do good, protect and care for their city from villains, save their family, and maintain order amid the chaos.

This review doesn’t do it justice—this movie has so much to tell and show, but I’ll let you discover it for yourselves. You won’t regret it; it features charismatic, rebellious characters and scenes packed with action.

En que se basa esta Historia

Para contarles un poco sobre esta película, a quienes aun no la han visto, la historia se basa en dos policías, que son obligados a trabajar juntos, son totalmente opuestos, sin embargo, dejando a un lado sus diferencias, se unen para hacer justicia, atrapar a los malos, y cumplir con su trabajo, haciendo el bien.

Dicho film, como mencione es una saga, la cual consta de 4 versiones, historias totalmente diferentes, otros chicos malos que atrapar pero estos dos hombres se mantienen fieles, en su trabajo, como buenos policías, en busca de atrapar a los delincuentes, asesinos, que quieren acabar con ellos, y a su vez a su familia, es por ende que su único objetivo es proteger a sus seres queridos y hacer cumplir la ley.

Como son estos personajes

Sin duda son totalmente distintos, con personalidades diferentes, uno con un carácter algo loco, desequilibrado, imprudente, y el otro por supuesto, tiene que ser el balance, mas maduro, centrado, serio. Ambos coinciden en querer hacer el bien, proteger y cuidar a su ciudad de los malos, salvar a su familia, manteniendo el orden, en tanto caos.

Me quedo corta con esta reseña, esta película tiene mucho que contar y mostrar, pero dejare que ustedes indaguen sobre ella, no se van arrepentir, la misma cuenta con personajes y escenas carismáticas, rebeldes, y llenas de mucha acción.

Por otro lado, la protagonista, Elena Anaya, interpreta a una mujer enigmática que, durante los primeros momentos de la película, parece ser solo alguien recluida en una habitación que forma parte de un experimento consensuado y en quien se tiene una tremenda desconfianza.

Asimismo, la otra mujer que vive en la mansión, el ama de llaves interpretada por la actriz Marisa Paredes, encarna a un personaje que custodia los secretos más oscuros de su empleador.

No contaré la película, pues pienso que, al igual que yo, tendrán que verla varias veces para sacar sus propias conclusiones. La verdad es que, en estas historias de personas poderosas y adineradas, pareciera que la ley no los alcanza; sin embargo, lo que sí los alcanza es un destino fatal del que nadie puede escapar.

Los invito a disfrutar de este film que los mantendrá sentados en la silla hasta el final. Yo le doy un 70/100, y no porque sea muy amante del suspenso, sino porque me mantuvo atenta y creó un gran debate, al punto de tener que volverla a ver con más detenimiento.
