Hello superhero lovers. Today I want to talk about one more movie of the famous Marvel Cinematic Universe, besides being the first installment where we are introduced to one of the most powerful and relevant beings today, Doctor Strange. I liked this movie a lot, especially for the special effects and the vision they give to reality and time. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this film features the distinctive leading role of Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as the participation of other actors such as Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is a curiously well-crafted combination of fantasy, science fiction and action.

    Plot

The film introduces us to Doctor Stephen Strange, a very famous neurosurgeon who, due to a car accident, has lost the ability to use his hands, which are the main tools of his remarkable work. Christina Palmer, his ex-lover and current co-worker, tries to encourage him, but due to her frustration and desperation to get his hands healed quickly, he seeks endless experimental surgeries. With no success, he learns of a strange case of a paraplegic who suddenly started walking again. Upon getting in touch with him, he suggests that he go to Kamar-Taj in Nepal. Arriving there, the doctor is greeted by a sorcerer of sorts named Karl Mordo.

Mordo takes Strange to The Ancient One, a great sorceress who has lived an indefinite amount of time and who has been teaching all the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj. She shows the astral plane to our doctor, who is amazed to see how the different dimensions that exist are comparable to the dimensions of the mirror, this being its great power. He asks her to show him more, but his skeptical attitude causes him to be rejected at first. After much insistence, they let him learn the magical arts, while he is in charge of both wizards. Strange seeks information from ancient books in the library, including books with forbidden texts.

    Trailer & Review

Below, I will leave you the trailer of the movie:

    20240522_150315_0000.png

This movie was one of those that blew my mind, even though it didn't really grab my attention. While the interest was there, I wasn't and still am not a big fan of this Marvel character. Sure, I must admit that Benedict Cumberbatch's work is very admirable when playing Doctor Stephen Strange. But, beyond that, what really impressed me, beyond the characters, the scripts and the story they try to tell, are the special effects, which took them to the extreme by demonstrating as a kind of interpretation what is reality and space, comparing them by mirrors. The style and CGI of this film is impressive, as well as the sound effects and the soundtrack.

The personality of the protagonist, who begins as a renowned, stubborn and self-centered neurosurgeon who suffers an accident that limits his ability and his great ability to perform complex operations leads him to the top of experimenting with things that are beyond his understanding, which makes him meet The Ancient One, who shows him a world beyond what he knew, thus opening his mind to a wealth of knowledge and a power that many wish to obtain. The theme of reality and time is dealt with a lot throughout the film, and **Strange'**s dedication to mastering the power of time travel leads him to try things that can cause problems with reality. This teaches him more than one lesson that will serve him well later in life.

On the other hand, the enemy presented in this film, does not call much attention to me, except in the scenes where he demonstrates his immense power and completely alters reality, giving us a spectacular view of the world and its realities altered by an unknown power. The battle of good and evil makes its appearance in this film, once again, as in all superhero movies, only this time the way they fight goes beyond hand-to-hand combat or a demonstration of physical power. The relationships and confrontations we see throughout the film is, for me, a visual spectacle. The way they play with the laws of nature and the knowns of this world blows your mind, combining magic with science in an interesting way.

Finally, the special effects that this movie has are impressive, really. And of all the movies I have seen so far from Marvel Studios, none has impacted me as much as this film did. The different scenes where reality breaks completely, giving a broken mirror effect, showing us an endless number of alternate realities and a multiverse that goes beyond human comprehension. This is combined with CGI, sound effects and a soundtrack that are spectacular as well. While it is true that the typical story of the protagonist becoming a hero is notable in this installment, what makes it interesting is the way they mix fantasy with science fiction, showing us a world beyond the normal, with powerful characters like we have never seen before, up to that point. This makes this movie an excellent choice for any fan who hasn't seen it yet.

Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 as far as the sci-fi, fantasy and action genre is concerned.

  2. Doctor strange@steemychicken11337d

We continue with marvels phase 4 movies

I think this movie is a perfect poem to Sam Raimi's return to Marvel movies. He points a metaphorical "middle finger" at Disney's restrictions, and directs the film in his own style, treading on the first steps of his directing career: the thriller. But he doesn't do it in a goofy or stupid way, but one that makes you chuckle at the violence (unusual in Marvel, until now). Very positive that it doesn't waste on the pointless effects of the different universes or the protagonists' powers, but uses them sparingly, letting the characters play and highlight the scenes. Really, even if it's a bit of an exaggeration, I missed Raimi from Marvel.

The characters, now, are a well-directed film with an incomplete script. What can we say about the excellent Elisabeth Olsen, who with her performance is capable of not only bending even the coldest viewer but making him, almost, ally with her actions (Scarlet Witch powers, indeed). Under Raimi, we see a different, different and extremely dangerous Wanda Maximoff, and Olsen sells her unbelievably. Opposite her, Benedict Cumberbatch plays decently, playing a likeable Strange, but also other Stranges from different universes, giving a special touch to each one. The rest of the characters are enjoyable and, most importantly, work without interfering with the main showdown between Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange.

Is it the best Marvel movie of Phase 4? Maybe . However, this says a lot about the (moderate) quality of the Phase, but also what a huge bar they have to reach. Because the Multiverse of Madness isn't perfect. It lags, and lags incredibly in the average to bad scenario. The beginning of the film begins without an explanation of how America Chavez came to be, many points are solved in an almost childishly easy way, while the ending was very underwhelming. As if he wanted to finish and leave. And it's a shame, because such a film deserved something more than the boring writing of Michael Waldron and Jade Bartlett.

  3. "Doctor Strange 2" Images of Scarlet Witch and America Chavez Leaks Online@readingdanvers1665d

    Doctor Strange.jpg

So yeah, Spoiler Warning if you want to walk into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness totally blind or your waiting for official updates than it is time to stop.

    Doctor Strange leak.jpg

I saw this on Twitter and couldn't wait to share it with you because this so awesome and it is legit. This image was taken from official Lego toys which are officially toys for Marvel. The box itself also contains spoilers for the big bad of the movie, but I don't want to spoiler that. Toys have been major source for spoilers.

Now I want to talk about how awesome the female co-stars look. We already know that Elizabeth Olsen official finale look as Scarlet Witch in WandaVision was amazing, but her look looks impossibly even better. The hair looks better and her makeup is much more impressive and stands out. And we get our first official, not official, look of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. America Chavez doesn't look as fierce as she does in the comics, but it's an interesting look. Much less Disney than the actresses usual look. It's a bit of a shame that she doesn't have the curly hair that she does in the comics. But the full image show her doing the Chavez Leak punch position which is cool.

They both look pretty amazing. I bet that with all of the reshoots that they are doing now, this movie will end up being amazing. May can't come fast enough. What

do you think about these new looks?

  4. Dr Strange - Marvels top production@melbourneswest1916d

    img_0.9850413486223943.jpg

    All images sourced from here

Marvel, probably the best cinematic universe to grace our screens this century with the growing CGI tech seamlessly incorporating animation and real world into one. A blended magical experience bringing all our favourite super hero's, stories and fantasy to life on the big screen.

The 2000s have seen many try with great success and also great failures, budget seems to play a big roll in which tech a movie uses. As the tech advances so to do our on screen adaption. This also leaves cheaper tech available to smaller production companies that can now produce decent cringe worthy CGI moments, but they're still good.

There are alot of good films to date and many more planned in the pipeworks but I would like to provide my input on what I think the best film to date has been and which onscreen adaption has been on point.

    img_0.5212371237452124.jpg

Growing up I was never a Dr Strange fan I was more focused on Hulk, Spider Man, Thor but I have to admit my favourite was Iron Man. I was over the moon when Iron Man hit our big screens, a great decision for Marvel to being this character out first. But I'll be first to admit their early films were shocking, they didn't seem to grasp the character in its full potential. Fortunately character development and the natural order of the films delivered us an Iron Man character that really came to light by the end of his journey.

I still don't watch the early films of Iron Man, he's been a better supportive character in The Avengers and not as a stand alone character. They were decent films but it's as if each film gave us a different Iron Man then what we were seeing in The Avengers.

    img_0.8053225750326344.jpg

Then the introduction of Dr Strange arrived and I was familiar with the sorcerer but wasn't the biggest fan. Until I watched the stand alone origins film! I think it's important to note that Dr Strange had a number of similarities between Tony Stark as he was an arrogant, confident and cocky surgeon. Top of his field with no one to match him. Similar to Stark Dr Strange suffers a debilitating injury that costs him his life or his way of life. Like Stark Dr Strange heads out on a quest to secure his life and retain what he has.

But also on that path he encounters a situation that alters his character and ignites growth. Thrown into a world he had no idea existed and what started off as away just to heal his hands so he can go back to being an awesome surgeon his faced with becoming a guardian of Earth.

    img_0.4624165732582203.jpg

It's as if Marvel got to retell the story of Iron Man with a twist and through their plot line errors were able to regain the story telling through Dr Strange. Ultimately perfecting the movie with great newly advanced tech and CGI which they had continuously built on through the development of The Avengers and Marvel Cinematic universe.

There's been a significant amount of flops and successes in the Marvel franchise over the past few years and I feel as if some of the stand alone movies were created just to fund raise, which is fine I would still support them, but they left me wanting more. Dr Strange is not one of those movies.

    img_0.50379736876022.jpg

I was excited to see his role as a main character in Infinity war and his continued character growth has gone from strength to strength indicating that the producers and screen writers have learned alot in their time expanding the Marvel universe and I'm excited and await in anticipation as we get to explore more of Dr Strange's expanded universe the the foes he comes up against.

I do feel they weakened him in Endgame is Dr Strange is one of the most powerful beings in the universe, Thanos technically should have been no match to him considering he defeated Dormammu in his stand alone film. Dormammu is a far superior villain than Thanos even with all the infinity stones. But alas, a plot line is needed and the Sorcerer needed to take a step back to ensure the others could shine.

Also, they needed to make him vanish in infinity war otherwise there wouldn't be much of a story line.

Dr Strange could have ended Thanos in Infinity War but chose not to, he stood back and allowed things to roll out. He also decided to hold water back instead of dominating the battlefield in one swoop.

Fan theories have explored many reasons why the producers chose not to utilise Dr Strange in his true form. But let's be honest it's a movie and about making $$$

This can be easily assessed by the fact that the most powerful being fsr superior than the infinity stones and many other Marvel universe weapons was sitting at home in the next town.

Jean Grey, The Phoenix. Yet we saw no debate of X-Men. Again, a highly skilled team that would have ended Thanos in a moment. I don't think The Phoenix was even able to have been turned to dust with the click of Thano's fingers.

Yes, not everyone was able to be impacted by Thanos and the infinity stones. Many more powerful beings would not have been at all impacted by these stones.

  5. [Movie review] Long-faced cloak (amazing)-"Doctor Strange"@filoso1974d

Strange, a neurosurgeon seeking perfection, was seriously injured in a car accident and his hands lost function. After a struggle, he moved to the east and became a stranger with extraordinary magical powers with the help of the mysterious wizard Gu Yi, guarding the earth. .

    "Doctor Strange"

    "Doctor Strange"

After reading the topic, are you all at a loss? what is this? Maybe you have read the "Harry Potter" series of novels, in which Professor Dumbledore often chanted such strange spells to turn out amazing things. No, Marvel also used such a spell to make the "Doctor Strange" movie. Speaking of the famous "long face" in the film and television industry, there is nothing more than Benedict Cumberbatch (Benedict Cumberbatch), after "Holmes" he starred in "Doctor Strange". The doctor in our impression is either meticulous with gold-rimmed glasses, or the laboratory master is unruffled, and the doctor mentioned today is wearing a cloak and using "magic" to save the world. How is this movie? Let's start the wonderful trip to Russia with "Volume Fu".

The plot of "Doctor Strange" is not complicated. The perfect neurosurgeon Strange was seriously injured in a car accident and his hands lost function. After struggling, he moved to the east and became possessed with the help of the mysterious wizard Gu Yi. An extraordinary magical doctor, guarding the earth. Wait, shouldn't it be a fantasy movie from the official synopsis? Although many media have used the term fantasy masterpiece, this movie is a science fiction film at its core. why? This starts with the resumption of Marvel Universe by Marvel Pictures. The "Iron Man" and "Avengers" series of movies that everyone knows are all from the Marvel universe series. The Marvel movie consists of three stages. The first stage starts with the "Iron Man" series released in 2008, to the subsequent single roles of Captain America, Thor, and Hulk. The second stage focuses on deepening the contradictions in the setting of the Marvel universe, such as "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Iron Man 3" and the climax of "Avengers 2". Until the end of the second stage, the heroes have stood up. The camp, ready to fight afterwards. The beginning of the third stage is generally considered to be "Captain America: Civil War", and then the recently released "Doctor Strange". Because the first two stages span nearly 10 years, this series needs new heroes to attract the audience, so "Doctor Strange" "Appeared; at the same time, because the salaries of the main actors in the first two stages are rising, investors can’t afford it or the film series is coming to an end, it needs a brand new Marvel idol to appear, which is also one of the reasons for looking for Juanfu to appear in this film. . If you think the Marvel movie we mentioned earlier is a science fiction movie, then why is "Doctor Strange" under the same setting and worldview not a science fiction movie? "Doctor Strange"

    "Doctor Strange" (network map)

How about the performance of "Doctor Strange", which is responsible for the creation of the third stage of Marvel movies? Was it a hit? The author thinks it is very exciting, different from all previous Marvel movies. The previous series of this movie were almost based on the dazzling fighting of superheroes as a buying point, while "Doctor Strange" changed to a shooting method that bombarded with plot and visual effects. Some viewers even praised the filming method of "Inception", the inspiration of "2001 A Space Odyssey", and the style setting of "Harry Potter". The combination of these elements is unique and impressive. Profound, with amazing visual effects, coupled with a talented director and luxurious cast, the first shot of Marvel's third stage has been launched!

"Doctor Strange" is not like other Marvel movies. The plot must involve various superheroes in order to respond to the audience's expectations. The story in the film took place at the time of "Iron Man 2". In the context of the world at that time, other superheroes had not yet appeared or assembled, so even if the audience is not familiar with the setting of the Marvel universe, they can understand it. This is also the brilliance of the main creator. The film is independent and the narrative is complete. For the time being, there is no need for other superheroes to support the scene.

    "Doctor Strange"

    "Doctor Strange" (network map)

The main creative of the film almost applied the unified mode of the Marvel series of movies, starting with a wonderful fight, and then began to tell the protagonist's journey from "mortal" to superhero, and finally the battle between good and evil, ending with easter eggs. This is a standard Marvel-style plot, and of course it is also one of the characteristics of Hollywood commercial movies, with a strong sense of rhythm. There is nothing new under the sun. How can a director use such a routine to make a movie with new ideas and the audience can buy it? The main creator handed in a satisfactory answer-using unprecedented shooting techniques and amazing special effects, coupled with wild imagination, and wonderful performances to conquer the audience.

Although the film took advantage of filming such as "Inception" in special effects, the stunning visual effects left a deep impression on the author. On this basis, the director rubbed the "magic" and "spell" in the original setting of "Doctor Strange" into a sci-fi movie, but there is no sense of contradiction and it is refreshing. In addition to shooting techniques, we will again mention the visual effects of the film. I can guarantee that my friends have hardly seen the surprising scenes in "Doctor Strange" in any other movies. The creators used the wildest imagination to restore the world in the eyes of "Doctor Strange" to the real world to the greatest extent. The special effects in the film are magnificent, dazzling, and amazing. Forgive the author for his poor words, maybe only when we sit in the cinema You can be completely conquered by special effects when you watch the movie. If this article did not win the Oscar special effects award that year, I believe many film critics will be quite surprised.

    "Doctor Strange"

"Doctor Strange" special effects (network diagram)

It is not just the amazing special effects on the trailer that draws the audience into the movie theater, but also the long-faced "curls" that fascinates hundreds of millions of female audiences. As mentioned above, the Marvel Universe series of films needs a new national idol in the third stage. Marvel Pictures has searched for many years and finally reached a consensus with Juan Fu. How does Juan Fu perform in the film? Some critics believe that, like Sherlock Holmes, Benedict Cumberbatch was born for the role of Doctor Strange. He is charming, indifferent, withdrawn and always selling a little humor. He is born cold and has a classic long face. It is very suitable for the "great magician" in the Marvel world. These characteristics are vividly expressed in the film. If Robert Downey Jr. resigned in the third stage of Iron Man for various reasons, Master Fu can take over his position in the Marvel world, let alone his attraction to countless female audiences. In short, it was a pretty correct decision for Marvel Studios to choose Volume Fu as Doctor Strange! Having said so many advantages, "Doctor Strange" is also unsatisfactory. For example, in the original book, the protagonist eventually became Doctor Strange under countless foreshadowings and wonderful settings. In the film, many plots and foreshadowings were deleted. No wonder many die-hard fans yelled that the plot went too fast. The film is less than two hours old, but it is too difficult to have to squeeze in Dr. Strange's massive setting. This is also the director's helplessness.

    "Doctor Strange"

    "Doctor Strange" (network map)

In addition to the fact that the plot is advancing too fast, the sentences in some movies are also a bit confusing. For Chinese audiences, these are even more "cold sentences". For example, in such a surprising movie, there is a joke about Adele, and the audience is not smiling, nor is it not smiling. Speaking of the shortcomings in the plot, it is even more important to mention the villain in the film. Similar to the other villains in Marvel movies, the villains in this film are still worried about their IQs, and there is not much history to dig, and there is not much continuity. Just like going through the barriers and fighting monsters, this one is the same Lost it. Marvel never thought that a villain can be used for a long time, and these villains are always inferior in strategy and emotional intelligence. A good movie, a decent protagonist is important, but there is no such thing as a big villain, and there is always a bit of regret. This is one of the few shortcomings of the film.

After hearing the author talk so much, let's return to the title-cloak. In ordinary people’s perception, only magicians and ancient knights will appear in cloaks. If this is a science fiction movie, the protagonist is wearing a cloak, is it too far-fetched? I think this is one of the reasons why Marvel deliberately put "Doctor Strange" on the big screen. The novelty of the audience has long been consumed by superheroes one after another, so it is time to launch a different Marvel movie. Up. In the film, Juan Fu is a magician who knows all kinds of "magic", but this is not absolutely antithetical to science. In Marvel's settings, there are many such supernatural settings, and "Doctor Strange" is a test of water to show another charm of Marvel. In the settings of the Marvel series, the origins of the universe, parallel universes, and other settings are quite complete. In the current technological advancement, Marvel has also absorbed the current scientific and technological theories, making it seem that they will never be out of date, and the story remains Wonderful, this is probably the secret of Marvel's success. What's more, Arthur Clark said that all too advanced technology is no different from magic, so this film is a fantasy masterpiece and a science fiction movie.

"Doctor Strange" is an important film in the third stage of the Marvel Universe movie. To a certain extent, the success of the movie determines the revenue of the subsequent series. It is also a huge bet that Marvel Pictures has invested heavily in. Now it seems to be a success. . "Doctor Strange" successfully brought out the follow-up plot of the Marvel series of movies, and at the same time found a soul character for the subsequent Marvel movies to replace the Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. who is likely to no longer appear in Iron Man. Coupled with the supposedly good box office income, it can kill three birds with one stone. This is a very successful film.

The long face, the cloak, and the amazing make up "Doctor Strange". This is a fascinating and amazing Marvel movie that has never been seen before. It has also been evaluated by many audiences as a movie that cannot be missed this year, friends Do you want to take action?

  7. Movie Review: Doctor Strange@thatanimesnob2992d

So, I watched Doctor Strange and boy what a forgettable movie it was. Nothing about it felt like it was its own thing. It was just stealing ideas from left and right without ever managing to grow an identity of it own.

The selling point for example is the trippy visuals which are constantly warping reality into a psychedelic kaleidoscope. They do not have an in-story meaning for looking like this; it’s just for the cool factor. Inception did the same thing a few years back and although it was a lazy representation of a person’s psyche, it was meant to be a representation of their minds.

Not only Doctor Strange does not excuse why things warp the way they do, it goes as far as using the stupid mirror world copout, where all the battles are taking place in a copy of reality and thus nothing gets actually damaged in the real world. Hell, nobody even notices it. Despite the flamboyant presentation, nothing actually happens. It’s a bunch of chuunis having make belief battles in their minds.

Pretty colors aside, there is still nothing much going on in the movie. Since it’s an origin film, means that most of it is spent on the protagonist beginning as normal, then finding a power, and then training how to use said power. By the time he is capable enough to count as a superhero, the movie is close to over. It’s a boring build up and unlike heroes like Spiderman or Batman there is very little to care about Strange. It’s just some guy who wants to heal his hands and uses mystical powers to do so. He never comes off as someone who does it for the world. This is not compelling drama, he is not an interesting character.

Take the script aside as well. The very way the battles work is not good at all. They are random magic stuff appearing and disappearing all the time. There is no strategy, there are no tactics, it’s random bull where everything is possible therefore nothing feels significant. When magic can be abused to the point they can teleport instantly anywhere they want and even travel to other dimensions by flying into them, you stop giving a damn.

Furthermore, the plot convenience is too obvious for Strange. He starts as an average guy and within a few days he tops elite sorcerers. There is this magic cloak that has a will of its own and helps him out all the time. Villains somehow constantly fail to kill him when they have no problem with anyone else. He unexplainably manages to control an infinity stone and constantly messes with time. Which means he abuses a trope I hate: Time loops and time resets. That’s how he wins, he repeats events until he does them right, and rewinds time so it’s like nothing happened in the end. What is wrong with modern entrainment? Stop doing that!

    To hell with this movie.

  8. A Geeky Dad's Movie Guide: Dr. Strange (Standard 2D)@hanshotfirst3519d

On Saturday, I took my 11 year old son to see the standard 2d version of Dr. Strange. I did not bring my 9 year old daughter. I am writing this review from the same perspective as my preview two reviews: an adult watching a movie intended for kids. In full disclosure, I love all of the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I used to read the comic books, watch the cartoons and play superhero tabletop games... so I am definitely biased (hence the word "Geeky" in the title).

To help put this review in perspective, I have seen every one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies beginning with 2008's Iron Man. My favorite is Guardians of the Galaxy with the Avengers a close second. My least favorite is The Incredible Hulk. Aside from the Incredible Hulk, I would watch them all again.

So now to Dr. Strange. Although I enjoyed the experience, I would place this movie near the bottom of my list. It is definitely better than The Incredible Hulk. Perhaps it is on par with the Thor movies... which were entertaining but not great.

The use of the word "experience" was no accident. The special effects in this movie are simply the most amazing thing I have ever seen. If you have seen Inception, imagine the scenes where the city is folded... then imagine a bunch of magical ninjas fighting on those buildings as they change. It was breathtaking. There is constantly something visually amazing displayed before you. Unfortunately for my son and I, it was little too much.

My family does not enjoy 3d movies. They tend to fatigue our eyes and leave us with a little motion sickness. Therefore, we avoid them. I could not imagine seeing the movie in 3d. It would simply be too much for us (for those of you who like 3d... go see this movie immediately! I can't imagine how awesome it is if you can handle it!). Even in 2d, my son and I left the theater feeling a bit queasy. In fact, during the middle of the movie, my son reclined his seat and rolled onto his side to watch because he was not feeling well.

    But that is our problem.

For people who like roller coasters and can handle 3d movies, I bet this would be the coolest thing they have ever seen on screen. Because the movie is based on magic, the backgrounds are constantly moving. Floors and walls transform. Characters do not have to obey the laws of physics and can transition from running on the floor to the ceiling in two steps. At one point, there is an unforgettable action sequence where the characters are in regular time while everything else is slowly moving back in time. I have seen battles where everyone is frozen in time except the combatants... but everyone moving in reverse? It was stunning.

So it sounds like we have two pluses for this movie. It has mind blowing special effects and great action sequences. But here's the problem... it's an origin story. Most origin stories are the least exciting of the series because they have to tell so much story.

Dr. Strange does a good job of explaining how and why Stephen Strange became the powerful sorcerer he eventually becomes... but from a kid's point of view (and the geeky dad next to him) it seems to take forever.

*I can't wait for the action to start... [Image Link](http://www.kissradio.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2016/04/dr-strange-e1460571939332.png)*

Marvel knows what its audience wants, so of course, the movie beings with a really cool ten minute action sequence. Then it gets into the story of an incredibly talented surgeon with the standard love interest. Next, the movie goes into character-build mode and shows Stephen Strange as an arrogant, yet funny, doctor who loves music.

Because I don't want to spoil anything, I have to "yada, yada, yada" over the next few minutes of the movie. Yada yada yada... Strange ends up in Nepal* where he begins the standard part of many origin stories... the training. Strange meets his teacher and participates in many, many minutes of training. Most of the spells look really cool and the explanation of the powers was essential, but it took very long time.

Once the action sequences finally began, they were incredible. They included great effects, perfect choreography, and enough witty banter to make them enjoyable. Like all of these movies, there are minor battles mixed with some more story telling leading up to the final battle. Even the final battle was more cerebral than exciting. But again, it looked amazing.

I left the theater thinking, "That was cool. Glad they got that story out of the way so the next ones can be more fun." When I asked my son what he thought, he said he loved it. I probed a little further and asked him where he would rank it compared to the other Marvel movies. In the past, whenever he had seen a new Marvel movie, he would always report that the most recent one had become his new favorite. This was not the case with Dr. Strange. He was able to list at least three movies he liked better. As I reminded him of others, Dr. Strange kept falling lower on the list. It seems my son had the same opinion as I did: he liked it but did not love it.

    Geeky Dad's Movie Guide

Number of times I fell asleep: 0 Number of eye rolls: 0 Number of face palms: 0 Number of times my kids asked to go to the bathroom or get food out of sheer boredom: 0 Number of times I checked steemit:3 Number of times I said "That's ridiculous":0 Did my kid like it: Yes Would I see it without my kids: Yes... because I am a superhero geek Full price/Matinee/Rental/Free/Not worth the time: Matinee (If you see this, you must see it in a good theater on the big screen)

Special note: My 11 year old son liked it. My 9 year old daughter would have been bored.

As a reward for making it to the end of the post, I present to you...
