Mad Max: Fury Road is an action-adventure film released in 2015, directed by George Miller. The film stars Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, and Nicholas Hoult as Nux. The film plunges us into a ravaged world where water and resources are scarce, while those in power control others through fear and domination.

At the beginning of the film, we meet Max, a man who lives alone in a dangerous desert region. Shortly thereafter, he is captured by Immortan Joe’s men and finds himself a prisoner of his group. This opening perfectly illustrates just how harsh and dangerous the film’s world is. For me, this part immediately made it clear that the film wasn’t just an action movie, but also a story of survival and freedom.

For her part, Imperator Furiosa is driving a massive vehicle carrying five women who are trying to escape Immortan Joe’s rule. Furiosa has decided to leave the citadel in order to find a place where they can live freely. Her plan and her courage drive the entire story forward, and I particularly appreciated the fact that she isn’t someone who waits for someone else to come and save her, but rather takes matters into her own hands.

When Immortan Joe discovers that Furiosa has escaped, he sets out in pursuit with his men. Max also finds himself caught up with Furiosa’s group after the situation turns chaotic. Even though Max and Furiosa don’t trust each other at first, they gradually realize they need each other. I really liked their relationship because trust doesn’t develop immediately—it’s built little by little through the trials they face together.

Their journey becomes increasingly difficult as the group constantly tries to escape their pursuers. The movie is packed with action and movement, but what really kept me hooked wasn’t just the action. It was, above all, the question of whether they would succeed in finding a place to start a new life in freedom.

Furiosa believes they can reach the Green Place, a place she has fond memories of. This hope motivates the entire group, especially the women who want to escape the lives they’ve been forced to lead. To me, this part shows that sometimes, hope can keep us moving forward even when the situation becomes extremely difficult.

During the journey, Max gradually transforms from a man focused solely on surviving on his own into someone willing to help others. Furiosa also realizes she can count on him. This evolution in their relationship makes the film more than just an action movie, as we see people who didn’t know each other gradually become a group capable of relying on one another.

Nux also undergoes a significant transformation. At first, he serves Immortan Joe with great determination, but after meeting Furiosa’s group, his way of thinking and his feelings begin to change. His relationship with Capable also influences his outlook on life. I found his transformation significant because it shows that even someone who grew up in a very harsh system can choose a different path.

When they discover that the Green Place is not what Furiosa had imagined, the group’s hopes hit a major roadblock. Furiosa is disappointed, but instead of giving up, she decides to return to the Citadel. This decision completely changes the direction of the story, and I appreciated how the film shows that sometimes, the place we’ve been searching for isn’t necessarily where our true future lies.

Max supports Furiosa’s plan, and the whole group decides to return to the Citadel. This time, their goal is no longer just to escape, but to create the possibility of a new life. Furiosa becomes someone who knows exactly what she wants, while Max plays an important role in helping the group. This part made me see how the story gradually shifts from a simple struggle for survival to a true quest for freedom and hope.

In the end, Furiosa confronts Immortan Joe, and his power over the Citadel’s inhabitants finally comes to an end. Nux makes an important choice that helps the group achieve its goal. This part particularly struck me, because the people who had previously lived in fear finally have a chance to experience a different kind of life.

For me, the ending was satisfying because the film doesn’t just show the defeat of an adversary—above all, it shows that true victory lies in giving others hope and the chance to start a new life.

Even though Max played a crucial role in the group’s survival, he chooses to leave on his own. Furiosa and the others remain at the Citadel with the hope of a new life, while Max quietly walks away. I found this ending fitting for Max’s character, as he is someone who doesn’t easily become attached to a place or a group, yet whose presence in their lives has nonetheless left a lasting impact.

Overall, Mad Max: Fury Road is, for me, a film that blends action, adventure, survival, and a story deeply rooted in freedom. Furiosa and Max follow different paths, but they ultimately come together around a shared goal: to leave a difficult life behind and seek a new beginning. The impressive scenes, the characters, and the relentless pace really kept me engrossed in the film from start to finish. For me, it’s a film brimming with energy, but one that also carries a message far deeper than the action we see on screen.

So I recently watched Oppenheimer (2023). This is one of those movies that is hard to review, not because there is not much to talk about, but because there is so much happening in this movie, like way more than I expected.

I heard about Oppenheimer for a long time before finally watching it and I knew it was directed by Christopher Nolan and that it was about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb. Knowing the story is one thing. Sitting down for a movie that lasts three hours is another. They differ.

This movie is long. But surprisingly, I never felt like it was simply a "long movie" for the sake of being long.

This review won't discuss any major events or twists from the movie.

The Story

Oppenheimer follows J. Robert Oppenheimer’s life and career, played by Cillian Murphy, focusing on his role in one of history is most significant scientific projects.

The movie isn't simply about science.

That was actually one of the things I found interesting about it.

A movie about the creation of the atomic bomb might focus on explaining physics experiments and scientific theories but Oppenheimer is more interested in the people behind the science.

It is about ambition.

It's about politics.

It is about responsibility.

It is about what happens when human beings gain the ability to create something that can change everything about completely.

And, most importantly, it is about the person at the center of this.

J. Robert Oppenheimer was not a simple character to understand, and that is what makes him interesting to watch.

But the movie doesn't make him feel like a hero or villain & we see sides of him through the story.

Cillian Murphy Was Incredible

Let's talk about Cillian Murphy.

I already knew he was a talented actor, especially from Peaky Blinders, but his performance here was something else.

He disappears into the character.

So Oppenheimer is not someone who is always shouting or doing dramatic stuff but a lot of his performance is in his expressions, body language, and how he reacts to everything happening around him.

There are moments where you can tell what he is thinking by looking at his face.

And, it is not easy to do.

Cillian Murphy carries a huge part of this movie on his shoulders, also I think he was one of the biggest reasons I stayed so invested in the story.

His appearance changes throughout the movie, but his eyes in addition to expressions stood out.

Tiredness and tension in his performance fit the character.

Christopher Nolan's Direction

We can not discuss Oppenheimer without mentioning Christopher Nolan.

Nolan has made complicated movies, and, Oppenheimer isn't one of his simplest.

The movie shows different parts of Oppenheimer's life & uses various perspectives & styles to tell the story.

At first, I had to pay close attention because the movie moves around frequently.

But once I understood what Nolan was doing, I started appreciating it more.

Rather than a biography from start to finish, Nolan creates something that feels like a collection of memories, events, conversations and consequences coming together.

The editing is especially important here.

The movie has a lot of characters, different timelines and, political discussions, but it keeps moving.

Sometimes quickly.

The Supporting Cast

The supporting cast in this movie is ridiculous.

There are many famous actors. Sometimes I thought, “Wait, that is actually him.”.

Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek and many others all have roles in the movie.

I liked that most of these characters did not seem to be present just to give a famous actor a role.

They all add something to the story.

Robert Downey Jr. especially surprised me.

I have seen him in many Marvel movies, so it was refreshing, like, seeing him in a different kind of role, his performance here more restrained and serious, and I thought he did a great job.

Emily Blunt also gives a strong performance, as well as her character adds perspective to Oppenheimer's life.

The cast really makes the movie feel much bigger than just one person's story.

The Cinematography

Oppenheimer impresses.

There are a lot of close ups, especially during conversations, in addition to the movie uses light and shadow extremely well.

There are also abstract visual sequences that represent thoughts, ideas &, scientific concepts.

These moments are some of the most interesting visuals in the movie because Nolan doesn't always explain everything with dialogue.

Sometimes you see something and know it shows what's happening inside Oppenheimer's mind.

There are large scale scenes.

When the movie shows something enormous, you feel its scale.

The Sound

The sound design deserves its own section.

This movie is loud.

Very loud.

The sound is not just there to make things exciting.

There is constant tension in the movie, and the sound plays a major role in creating it.

The music by Ludwig Göransson is also excellent.

So the soundtrack has this constant sense of urgency as well as even during conversations there can be music underneath that makes you feel like something important is happening.

There are moments where the music almost feels like a heartbeat.

The movie feels more intense.

Oppenheimer is a movie that benefits from being watched with headphones or a sound system.

The Science

I was worried I wouldn't understand the scientific side of this movie before watching it.

So I am not exactly someone who knows a lot about nuclear physics, hehe.

Thankfully, the movie does not expect you to understand every scientific detail.

It shares why the work matters without becoming a physics lesson.

The movie focuses more on the consequences of complicated scientific ideas rather than the ideas themselves.

And that is likely the correct decision.

The most interesting question isn't "How does this work?".

It's "What happens when we actually make it work?"

That's where the movie becomes powerful.

The Themes

This is where Oppenheimer became more than a historical movie for me.

The movie presents uncomfortable questions.

A scientist has a responsibility for the things they create.

Can scientific progress be separated from politics?.

What happens when ambition goes too far?.

Once something is created, you can't really take it back.

The movie does not simply give you easy answers.

Instead, it allows you to sit with these questions.

I liked that.

It would have been easy to make Oppenheimer into a simple hero who changed in our current environment, but the movie is much more complicated than that.

There are moments of achievement, but there is also fear, guilt, pressure and uncertainty.

The movie gets that something can be historically important but terrifying.

Is It Too Long?

This is probably the biggest question people have about Oppenheimer.

Three hours is a stretch.

And I am not going to pretend every single scene moved at the same speed.

There are sections where you need to pay attention, there are a lot of names, conversations, and, political events going on, and if you look away for a few minutes you can end up asking yourself who everyone is, yeah.

But I did not think the runtime ruined the experience.

The movie has a lot of story to tell, and cutting it down too much probably would have removed some of the context that makes the later parts meaningful.

I understand why some people find it slow.

This is not a movie you put on in the background while scrolling through your phone.

You have to watch it.

Conclusion

Overall, Oppenheimer (2023) was different from what I expected.

I expected a movie about the atomic bomb.

I watched a movie about a person, a group of scientists, politics, ambition, fear, responsibility and the consequences of changing in our current environment.

It's not a traditional action movie, even though there are some extremely intense moments.

It's not a straightforward biography either.

It's more like a psychological and historical Drama that uses the story of Oppenheimer to explore a much bigger question about humanity itself.

The performances are excellent, the cinematography is beautiful, the sound design is incredible and, the music adds another layer of tension to almost everything.

But I think the biggest strength of the movie is that it doesn't treat its subject as something simple.

There are no easy answers.

Even after the movie ended, I kept thinking about some of the questions it raised.

That's usually a sign for me.

These is the very first Indian action movie I started watching while growing up and at first we use to know it as dantawayia not until I recently found out while scrobbing that the name is rebel. Can't blame me. All we care about in a movie as of then was action and nothing else.

What happens when a person who has spent his entire life trying to stay away from violence is suddenly forced to become the very thing he never wanted to be? These is one of the questions that came to my mind while watching Rebel (2012), is directed by Raghava Lawrence and starring Prabhas as Rishi.

I didn't see Rishi begin this movie as the angry man I eventually meet. He starts out as a happy-go-lucky young man, the son of Bhupathi, a powerful man who has his own reputation and influence. But Bhupathi doesn't want his son to inherit his violent way of life. Instead, he sends Rishi away to study and learn music. So there is almost a contradiction built into Rishi from the beginning: he is the son of a powerful man, but he is being raised to become something different.

Then we have the villains. Rishi is searching for Stephen and Robert, and the mystery surrounding their identities and their connection to his family's tragedy gives the revenge plot something to chase. Mukesh Rishi plays Jayaram/Robert, while Pradeep Rawat plays Simhadri. It gradually reveals how deeply connected these people are to the destruction of Rishi's family. Tears almost ran out of my eyes when rishi found out his parents were dead. It's was so emotional.

I think the movie's treatment of the father-son relationship deserves attention. Bhupathi doesn't want Rishi to follow his path, which makes his death even more important to Rishi's transformation. His father was already a powerful figure, but he wanted his son to live differently. In a strange way, Rishi ends up becoming exactly the kind of person his father didn't want him to become not because he wanted that life, but because circumstances pushed him there. But I don't like it that way.

The father tries to protect the son's innocence. The enemies destroy that innocence.

And I observed a clear difference between the two halves of the film. The first half spends more time establishing Rishi's personality, his relationship with Deepali, his family and his carefree nature. Then the story takes a much darker direction after the major tragedy, turning the second half into a search for the people responsible.

During its run from 2007 to 2019, “The Big Bang Theory” was one of television’s most acclaimed sitcoms. It stood alongside other successful sitcoms such as “Friends” and “Seinfeld,” but Chuck Lorre’s series stood out for its clever sense of humor when addressing topics related to geek culture: science fiction and real science. As a result, audiences could identify more easily with its characters, despite it being the typical comedy with canned laughter playing every minute.

The success of “The Big Bang Theory” was enormous—so much so that they created a spin-off centered on its most iconic character: Dr. Sheldon Cooper, the most eccentric scientist you will ever see on television. After the original series ended, “Young Sheldon” captured the fans’ attention by depicting the character’s childhood as a direct prequel to “The Big Bang Theory.” When that series also concluded, it was followed by “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” (the series about Sheldon Cooper’s brother).

As you can see, these spin-offs were produced to continue capitalizing on the fame of “The Big Bang Theory,” but none of them were as good as the original because they moved completely away from its essence. No matter how much context these series added to the same television universe, they were merely failed attempts to keep exploiting Chuck Lorre’s greatest achievement.

Sheldon Cooper and his friends were the stars of the show because most of them were strange people living in a normal world. Their humor was more satirical and focused on aspects of everyday life. The drama arose very naturally, without things becoming serious all the time. Now… why am I mentioning all this? Well, to understand this series, it is necessary to know its background, context, and spin-offs beforehand; otherwise, it would make absolutely no sense.

Stuart Bloom began as a secondary character in “The Big Bang Theory,” as the owner of the comic book store the protagonists frequented. He interacted with them as an acquaintance. As the seasons went by, he became increasingly recurrent, eventually turning into a close friend of some members of the main cast. He had his moments in the spotlight, to the point of almost becoming a major character—though he never actually did.

The joke behind his character is that he is irrelevant and uninteresting in everyone else’s life. Toward the end of the series, he got a girlfriend, which created a strong contrast with Rajesh Koothrappali, the most pathetic character he rivaled.

So seeing someone like Stuart star in another spin-off alongside other secondary characters feels like a desperate attempt to achieve success through the fame of “The Big Bang Theory.” But what made this particular production different from the others was that it abandoned all logic by taking science fiction seriously.

Indeed, the series is about Stuart being tasked with saving the universe—or rather, the multiverse. Universal chaos breaks out, and only he can fix it somehow. I would like to think that the Stuart who stars in this series is not the same one we knew from the original series, because this version comes from a dimension in which interdimensional moths invaded Earth and caused an apocalypse. Throughout the series, we see alternative versions—or variants—of the same character.

For example, one version of Stuart suddenly arrives at his store and gives him the mission of embarking on a multiversal adventure using a special machine created by Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard.

After the second episode, the series loses all sense, as Stuart and his friends simply travel from one universe to another without any destination in mind—or even the slightest idea of how to save the universe. The story lacks coherence and seems narratively pointless, as events unfold in a very conventional manner. The only interesting aspect is seeing some members of the original series make brief appearances—and the worst part is that Sheldon Cooper does not appear.

I can understand wanting to give the franchise a new twist, but the original series was very realistic, and its humor revolved around not taking science fiction seriously. Taking that subject seriously in order to create an adventure involving space-time travel feels completely out of place with characters who had been largely irrelevant for years.

Honestly, I think this series was poorly executed—or perhaps deliberately made that way—since its final episode is like a tasteless joke that breaks the fourth wall and confuses the viewer even further.

The series not only lacks a coherent narrative, but also seems to have been made without any apparent purpose. The main plot leads nowhere; this entire journey to save the multiverse turned out to be an absurd, pointless endeavor that accomplished nothing beyond making as many jokes and references as possible. I do not know what Chuck Lorre and the rest of the production team were thinking, but I found this to be a very disappointing season finale because it was consistent with absolutely nothing.

Apparently, however, there will be a second season of the series, and honestly, it does not make me curious or interested. I think it is time to definitively close the “The Big Bang Theory” universe before it is remembered as the series that triggered a regrettable franchise of terrible television shows.

The movie Kirikou and the Sorceress. I watched this movie a very long time ago, and I can still remember that Kirikou was one of the movies my mom normally put on for us when we were kids. I really enjoyed watching it. So today, I was looking for a movie to make a review on, and I suddenly remembered Kirikou. I decided to watch it again and share my review with my amazing friends here. Watching it again really brought back some childhood memories.

Kirikou was a boy full of wisdom and knowledge. He was very smart, and what made him different was that he could already talk while he was still inside his mother's womb. His mother was always surprised because she could not understand how a baby that had not even come out of her womb could already be talking to her.

His mother gave birth to Kirikou, and immediately he came into the world, he went straight into the water and bathed himself. After that, he asked his mother, "Mother, where is my dad?" His mother was so shocked. How can a baby that was just born already be asking about his father and talking like a grown person?

The people in the village really loved Kirikou because of the way he talked. They enjoyed having conversations with him because he talked like a very intelligent grown-up.

There was also a wicked sorceress called Karaba. She made the people in the village suffer and live in fear. She had dried up their water source, and the villagers were struggling because of it.

There was a time when the children of the village were playing, and Karaba put an evil tree there to attract them. The children climbed it, but the tree suddenly started moving with them and carried them away. Kirikou saw what was happening and immediately looked for a way to save them. He took a cutlass and started cutting the tree down. He told the children to shake it because it would make it easier for him to cut it down. This was how he finally saved them.

Another time, Kirikou entered a hole and discovered a cow with a very big stomach filled with water. Since the village was suffering from lack of water, he got a cutlass and cut open the stomach of the cow. Suddenly, the water rushed out and the people in the village started celebrating.

Just when things between Dan and Serena seem to be moving in the right direction, Vanessa comes back into Dan's life, and suddenly everything gets more complicated.

I actually liked Vanessa's introduction. She already has a history with Dan that Serena doesn't share, and you can immediately feel how comfortable they are around each other. Of course, discovering that Vanessa still has feelings for him makes the situation much more interesting.

But the masked ball is what really makes this episode fun. It's the perfect setting for Gossip Girl: beautiful clothes, hidden identities, jealousy, misunderstandings and people making questionable decisions.

Jenny also continues to surprise me. She desperately wants to be part of Blair's world, but she's slowly learning how dangerous that game can be. The Serena, Nate and Jenny confusion at the party was probably my favorite part of the episode.

And once again, Lily and Rufus have that chemistry that makes me wonder how different everything could have been if their past had worked out differently.
