Movies about apocalypses with survivors are usually fun to watch because they are mainly centered around how the survivors make it in a quarantined world or in this case, a quarantined country. The hassle, struggle, slight escapes from contacting a virus, survival, procreation and in some cases, conquering and becoming freemen once again are all fun to see. Let's talk about the post-apocalyptic movie “28 Years Later” which I just finished watching.

About the movie

The movie “28 Years Later”” is an intense movie that captures the brief moments before the ‘rage virus’ infiltrates a country and how survivors live and thrive afterwards.

Directed by Danny Boyle, the movie diverts from a typical zombie apocalypse movie and focuses more on family, community and the regression of civilization in a post apocalyptic world. The movie was released on the 20th of June, 2025 and has a run time of 129 minutes.

The film centers around a boy named Spike who was born and raised in isolation after the outbreak. Spike is slowly becoming a man and his father takes it upon himself to carry Spike outside isolation(an island), to see what the real world(mainland) looks like. During the first sojourn with his father, Spike barely survives the angry and hungry “infected” but once they return, his father makes him the star of the show anyway.

Shortly after, Spike realizes his mom is gravely sick and needs the immediate attention of a medical doctor. The only medical doctor is on the main island and so Spike, alongside his mother, make the journey to the terrifying mainland without so much as informing his dad. Would he survive out there with little to no help from his weak mother? or would a search party be sent out in their favour?.

The movie was a blend of horror and the coming of age narrative with some moments of brutality and tenderness. I half expected this to be a jump-scare movie where everyone who came across an infected was not spared but on the contrary it wasn't.

The themes of survival, fear, anger, self-discovery, love and loss were all explored in this movie. Each character did their very best to properly poetry some or all of these characters but some more than others. I particularly found the portrayal of Spike's community endearing. These people lived with a threat surrounding them but they all still lived happily. Played their music, danced to the tunes, helped anyone who needed help and gave accolades to those who deserved some. I admired how bravely and boldly they lived, paying little heed to the virus.

The cinematography was distinctive and this greatly contributed to an unnerving atmosphere. The action sequences and the fighting scenes were all so vivid. The movie producers did this thing where he paused/ slowed down “kills” to give viewers a better image of where certain arrows or bullets passed through.

The end gave hints to a sequel because it's only in the end that a particular character I was interested in sufficed and very briefly at that. That was certainly not all this particular character had to offer and this act alone left some threads unresolved, intentionally.

Rating and Recommendation

This movie was a daring and fresh take within the horror movie genre. To be honest, I can barely call this movie a zombie horror movie because there were little to no gruesome scenes. Yes there were kills and yes there were some utterly disgusting scenes but nothing too much.

The movie was slow paced but okay to watch. I would give it a 6/10 rating because although it was a good watch, it doesn't fully meet my expectations of what a horror movie should be. I look forward to the sequel however. For some reasons, I believe that it would be a better watch.

La esperaba con ansias, pues, soy más fanático de los DC que de Marvel. Aunque debo de confesar qué bueno, sé que sus películas no han estado a la altura de las de Marvel con los Vengadores. Las películas del universo DC no han sido tan taquilleras aun cuando se esperaba que Batman vs Superman pudiera ser un gran cierre del universo que conocíamos. Porque acá, nos trasladan a otro y no está nada mal. La película tiene una duración de dos horas y media las cuales son necesarias para la compleja historia que estaremos por observar. Una historia que ha sido bastante criticada por su la ligereza y el humor de la película, que contrasta con una de las historias más sombrías del universo DC.

I was eagerly awaiting it, as I am more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan. Although I must confess that, although I know their films have not been as good as Marvel's Avengers films, the DC universe films have not been as big a box office hit, even though Batman vs. Superman was expected to be a great finale to the universe we knew. Because here, they take us to another one, and it's not bad at all. The movie is two and a half hours long, which is necessary for the complex story we are about to see. A story that has been heavily criticized for its lightness and humor, which contrasts with one of the darkest stories in the DC universe.

Me emocionó mucho ver en la película aquel cuartel que veía de niño llamado La Liga de la justicia. Y aunque la propuesta al desarrollo de cada personaje no era lo que esperaba fue un giro bastante curioso que tal vez pueda ser útil. Por ejemplo, el papel de Nathan Fillion Linterna verde, Isabela Merced como Hawkgirl y a Edi Gathegi Mister Terrific. Ellos eran el grupo que se reunían en este nuevo Cuartel de la Justicia. No fueron tan relevantes en la historia pero sí formaron parte de ella.

I was very excited to see the headquarters I used to see as a child called the Justice League in the movie. And although the development of each character was not what I expected, it was a rather curious twist that might be useful. For example, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. They were the group that gathered at this new Justice Headquarters. They weren't that relevant to the story, but they were part of it.

David Corenswet es como el primo hermano de Henry Cavill ja ja ja… En serio, creo que intentaron buscar a alguien con un gran parecido. En fin, este nuevo Clark Kent el actor ha destacado su capacidad y profesionalismo para combinar la simpatía y la intensidad necesaria para el papel. No cabe duda que la producción buscó que este Clark Kent diera una interpretación que mostrara su humanidad como la misma fuerza de Superman y creo que Corenswet estuvo muy bien en su actuación. Espero que en esta segunda película, ya que no tiene a Krypto, quizás sea un poco más serio de lo que nos tenía acostumbrados.

David Corenswet is like Henry Cavill's cousin, ha ha ha... Seriously, I think they tried to find someone who looked a lot like him. Anyway, this new Clark Kent actor has shown his ability and professionalism in combining the charm and intensity needed for the role. There is no doubt that the production wanted this Clark Kent to give a performance that showed his humanity as well as Superman's strength, and I think Corenswet did a great job. I hope that in this second film, since he doesn't have Krypto, he will perhaps be a little more serious than we are used to.

En Venezuela y gran parte del mundo cinematográfico de Hollywood estaba en la espera de ver actuar a la venezolana en la gran película de Superman pues el tan solo hecho de pertenecer a la gran lista de actores con experiencia y renombres ya era nombrada en muchas revista y programas de TV. Aunque no tuviera mucha presencia, fue una villana bastante acorde. Pero fue más propaganda que lo que apareció en las dos horas y media de la película ja ja ja… Ok ok, por algo se empieza. Y ni hablar de este Lex Luthor Interpretado por Nicolas Hulot. Un actor que lo hemos visto en comedia hasta thrillers y fantasía, acá el actor aporta una gama que va desde la frialdad controlada hasta destellos de pasión y humor negro lo que puede hacer de este Luthor un personaje mucho más complejo que aquel villano tradicional. Lamento que tengan mucho que leer pero tal como la película, es necesario resalta estos detalles.

In Venezuela and much of the Hollywood film world, people were eagerly awaiting to see the Venezuelan actress perform in the big Superman movie, as the mere fact of belonging to the long list of experienced and renowned actors had already earned her mentions in many magazines and TV shows. Although she did not have much screen time, she was a fairly convincing villain. But it was more hype than what actually appeared in the two and a half hours of the movie, ha ha ha... Okay, okay, you have to start somewhere. And let's not even talk about this Lex Luthor played by Nicolas Hulot. An actor we've seen in everything from comedy to thrillers and fantasy, here the actor brings a range that goes from controlled coldness to flashes of passion and dark humor, which can make this Luthor a much more complex character than the traditional villain. I'm sorry you have so much to read, but just like the movie, it's necessary to highlight these details.

Para finalizar y no seguir alargando la cosa, quiero mencionar que esta es una gran película que nos presenta una amenaza que pone a prueba el liderazgo de Superman, su verdad y su esperanza para la humanidad. Es una buena mezcla de acción, drama humano y momentos de reflexión que comenta sobre poder, responsabilidad y sociedad. Sinceramente, esperaré con muchísimas ansias su segunda propuesta en este nuevo universo DC.

To conclude and not drag things out any longer, I want to mention that this is a great film that presents us with a threat that tests Superman's leadership, his truth, and his hope for humanity. It's a good mix of action, human drama, and moments of reflection that comment on power, responsibility, and society. Honestly, I will eagerly await his second offering in this new DC universe.

When I first saw the poster, the red background and a fierce red hair lady with a sword I said to myself “This is it” I took a deep breath and dived in.

Honestly, watching this film felt like being thrown into a whirlwind of swords, betrayal, and pure grit. You know when you meet a character, and from the first scene you just know her life is about to become a storm of fire and blood? That’s Red Sonja. Her story doesn’t start with her being powerful; it starts with her being broken. She loses her family, her home is destroyed, and she’s left with nothing but rage, grief, and this burning need for vengeance. Right from the jump, I could feel the weight of her loneliness, and it made me want to root for her, almost like I was standing in her corner.

One of the earliest scenes which remained in my mind was when she was transformed into a warrior. It is not this fabulous montage - no, it is rough, painful, nearly brutal. Each cut, each blow, each trip in the training was another chisel driving her on the path to becoming this iron-willed woman that was not going to allow the world to step on her again. Factually, it made me sit back and think about my own scars, the things that I survived to be able to stand here today. That part resonated in a different way, as though the movie was not about her but about anyone who has ever had to rise from ashes to ashes.

Next is the evil queen who is as villainous as they come. She is not only lusting after power, but scheming and mean in that fashion that makes you want to scream at the screen. There was this one scene when she displayed her superiority with magical artifacts and the smirk on her face was enough to give me chills. The queen is not only an obstacle in the way of Sonja, but also her reflection of everything that Sonja despises: oppression, arrogance, power abuse. Watching Sonja deal with her was like watching a person go against their worst nightmares.

The fights, however -- you see. Not all the battles that Sonja engages in are just about the swinging of the swords; it is more like a dance of death and life. One of the scenes was this one in the ruins when she got surrounded and it seemed like she was not going to get out. And I swear I was holding my breath and watching her as she parried and struck, and her red hair went flying like flame itself at the heart of the carnage.

It wasn’t just about her surviving — it was about her proving that no matter how many times the world tried to cage her, she was always going to break free. That scene had my heart pounding, and when she finally struck down her enemies, I actually let out this shaky laugh, like damn, she did it.

However, the twist is that although she is fierce and deadly, she has this vulnerability about her, Sonja. She keeps her trauma like a sword that is invisible and fastened to her back. There are times that her eyes are vulnerable, moments that the loneliness comes back to her and it reminded me that she is still a human under all that armor. I think that that is what made me identify so much with her: she is not invincible. She bleeds, she hurts, she doubts herself but keeps on fighting, anyway.

And I must not forget the betrayals either-- because, of course, in a world such as hers not every one who smiles at you is a friend. There is a point where someone Sonja had believed she could trust betrays her and I was just sitting there thinking oh no not again. This sting of betrayal was more evident because it resembled real life whereby the knives that hurt the most are those that we often held close to our hearts.

The climax of the struggle between her and the queen? Whew. That was fire and thunder in one. The stakes were apocalyptic, the sort of fight where one wrong move would bring everything to an end. There was the sound of their swords not only physical but symbolic as well as two opposing forces of will collided. And when Sonja at last stood triumphant, bloody, but unconquered, it was like this burst of relief, pride, and naked power.

I felt as though I had walked along with her and had a little bit of her strength with me. It is a movie that tells you that you can live the fire also. And honestly? That struck me severely

Honestly, Game of Thrones , that series was a rollercoaster of betrayal, love, war, and shocking deaths that left me staring at the screen like, “Wait, did that just happen??”

So picture this: it all starts with the Starks in Winterfell. You know, Ned Stark, honorable to the core, the kind of man you’d trust with your life. He gets dragged into King’s Landing politics, thinking it’s all about justice and truth. But my dear, that place is crawling with snakes. The Lannisters, especially Cersei and Jaime, are out here plotting and hiding dark secrets like the fact that Cersei’s kids are not the king’s children at all, but her brother Jaime’s. When Ned discovers this, I was like, “Ah, it’s over for him!” And true to form, instead of playing the game smartly, Ned stands on honor—and what happens? Boom. They chop off his head in front of everyone, even his own daughters. I swear, that scene broke me. I couldn’t believe the “main character” just died like that.

And then the whole thing goes crazy. Bobby Stark, the son of Ned, stands up and fights back to restore honor to his family. I was rooting so hard for him, like yes go Robb! Then there was the Red Wedding. It still causes my chest to tighten just to think about it. Think of being at a feast with drinking, laughing, celebrating and then all of a sudden you hear the doors shut, the music changes and arrows are flying. His wife, his mother, almost his whole army were all cut to pieces at the dining-table. I felt cheated as though I was at the wedding. This scene taught me that there are no safe people in Game of Thrones.

Imagine you’re watching, you’re already tense, and then Littlefinger, this guy, honestly—he never just speaks, he plants. He whispers in ears like poison dripping slow. Remember how he nudged Ned Stark right into that trap? He promised loyalty, made Ned believe he had the City Watch backing him. And then boom—the second Ned tries to play honorable, Petyr literally tells him, “I did warn you not to trust me.” I swear, my chest tightened. It wasn’t just betrayal; it was the coldness of his words, like someone slamming a door on hope. That scene made me realize the game wasn’t for good men. And I hated how right Littlefinger was.

Then there’s Cersei—oh, Cersei. If Littlefinger plays with whispers, she plays with fire. Literally. That wildfire explosion at the Sept? I still can’t get that out of my head. The slow build was torture: Loras Tyrell’s trial, Margaery’s subtle panic when she realizes something’s off, the High Sparrow still smug in his self-righteousness. And then—green fire swallowing everything. Dozens, hundreds gone in seconds, their screams drowned in the roar. Margaery, one of the few people who could match Cersei’s cleverness, gone in the blink of an eye. I remember clutching my pillow like it was a lifeline, whispering, “No, no, no…” And the way Cersei just sipped her wine as her enemies burned? That’s the kind of cold-blooded ruthlessness that made me both hate her and, weirdly, admire her audacity.

And of course there is Daenerys. Her arc was me screaming. She begins as this meek girl who is sold off into marriage to Khal Drogo and comes out as the “Mother of Dragons.” And that its first time that she laid eggs in the fire? Chills. Pure chills. The more powerful she grew, the more dangerous also. She liberates slaves, takes the cities, and you begin to see this merciless side. By the time she burns King Landing- innocent people and all I was torn. Yes, she wanted to break the wheel, but did she have to break children as well? I did not know which to cheer for and which to cry.

Then the North. Let’s talk about Jon Snow. This man, eh! Loyal, brave, kind of brooding in that attractive way. When he got stabbed to death by his own men at the Wall, I nearly threw my laptop. I said, “Nooo, not Jon!” Then the next season, boom—he comes back from the dead. That moment felt like resurrection for me too. His battle scenes, especially the Battle of the Bastards, were insane. When he stood in front of Ramsay Bolton’s charging army alone, sword drawn, ready to face death… my heart was in my throat. And Ramsay—don’t get me started on him. The way he fed people to his dogs, tortured Sansa, made her suffer… I’ve never hated a character so much. Seeing Sansa feed him to his own hounds? That was justice. I clapped in my room like someone at a football match.

And oh, the Night King. From the first moment he appeared, with those icy blue eyes, I felt this dread. The whole time I kept asking myself, “How can they even defeat this thing?” When the White Walkers crashed into Winterfell, the whole episode had me sweating. Arya sneaking around in the dark, soldiers dying left and right, dragons battling in the night sky it was pure chaos. And then out of nowhere Arya Stark leaps and takes him down with a dagger. I screamed like she was my sister. “Yesss Arya!!!” That was such a satisfying twist.

The betrayals did not have to be big explosions. Occasionally, they were these tiny daggers that went between the ribs. As in the case of Jon Snow being betrayed by his own brothers at Castle Black. I could relate to each and every one of those, as a stab in my own gut. Seeing that knife go in and in and in and then Ollie,--cute little Ollie,--the death stroke? I don?? nehell concerns myself with the fact that I have never screamed at a screen louder than this. I was actually heartbroken The screwed up part is? It taught me how tenuous loyalty is in that world. One minute they are hailing you as Lord Commander, the next colder than the snow you are left bleeding.

And I don t even want to talk about the Red Wedding. And that is not only betrayal- it is trauma. The scream of the violins, the sound of the doors shutting, the scream of Catelyn when she sees what is going on. Seeing Robb, Talisa and even his unborn child slaughtered in the most sudden, dishonorably way- it was like someone had yanked the rug out of my feet. It made me empty, like… what is the point of cheering on anyone in this world when hope just continues to be slaughtered?

But you know the thing that really shook me? The ending. All that bloodshed, betrayal, war and prophecy leave Bran as king. Bran! The boy who spent the larger part of the time rolling around in visions and riddles. I did not know whether to laugh or just accept it. It somehow felt anticlimactic, but then again, perhaps it is supposed to. In a world so uncertain the person who did not even seek power was given it.

Reflectively, Game of Thrones has left me with all sorts of emotions, including anger, grief, joy, betrayal and relief. It revealed to me how power can corrupt you, how love can make you blind, how honor can kill you and how sometimes in order to survive, you need to be ruthless. But I kept watching, in spite of the heartbreak.


From Littlefinger’s whispered lies to Cersei’s wildfire inferno, every betrayal hit like a gut punch. And I’ll be honest with you: it left me shaken, sometimes angry, sometimes even a little numb.

I swear, telling you this now, it’s like I’m right back there, watching those betrayals unravel in slow motion, my heart racing like I could change the outcome if I just yelled at the screen loud enough.

When D’Angelo Barksdale carelessly reveals plans of its formal owner Wendell „Orlando” Blocker (Clayton LeBouef) to go independent and try his hand in drug business, Blocker is brutally beaten. More chillingly, stripper Keisha Michaels (Shaneera Lawson-Smith) dies of an overdose at a party attended by Barksdale enforcers. Lessons also crystallises The Wire’s thesis through Omar Little’s iconic declaration. After Barksdale’s crew torched his van, Omar ambushed and killed Stinkum Artis while wounding Wee-Bay (Hassan Johnson)—a retaliation that jeopardises the task force’s case. When pressed by detectives, Omar delivers his legendary line, framing his violence as a logical consequence of Avon’s hubris: “Come at the king, you best not miss.”This is not mere bravado; it is a street-level articulation of systemic lawlessness. The line’s ubiquity in modern discourse—from political commentary to social media—proves its universality: in any corrupt hierarchy, challenging power without finishing the job is suicide.

Simon further deepens his critique through subtle character revelations that expose the porous boundary between criminality and legitimacy. McNulty’s reckless recruitment of his young sons to tail Stringer Bell in a supermarket—resulting in the discovery that Stringer attends community college economics classes—epitomises the show’s genius. Stringer, the pragmatic strategist of the Barksdale empire, embodies the episode’s central irony: even those seeking redemption within the system (like Stringer’s bid for legitimate business) are crushed by its inertia. His plea to Avon to cease the vendetta against Omar falls on deaf ears, foreshadowing the organisation’s downfall through Avon’s emotional myopia. Meanwhile, McNulty’s parental negligence underscores how the job consumes every facet of life, blurring the lines between dedication and self-destruction.

Even the episode’s lighter moments serve its grim thesis. Herc and Carver’s farcical attempts to pass the sergeant’s exam highlight how institutional priorities pervert purpose. Similarly, McNulty’s cover-up of Bunk’s extramarital affair (and subsequent chaos when Bunk burns his clothes to hide evidence) is classic Wire dark comedy: a reminder that the personal and professional are inextricably entangled in a broken system. These scenes are not diversions but lessons in institutional absurdity—the trivial distractions that enable larger failures.

Yet Lessons transcends its era because it refuses to offer easy answers. The task force survives Burrell’s purge, but only through Phelan’s political leverage—a reminder that justice here is transactional, not moral. Omar’s testimony remains compromised; Keisha’s death is all but ignored; and the club’s exploitation continues. There is no catharsis, only the grinding reality that power adapts but never surrenders. When Simon later claimed The Wire was about “the American city and how we live together,” Lessons proves he meant it as a warning. The Epstein scandal did not emerge from a vacuum; it was the logical endpoint of systems Lessons dissected with surgical precision: the commodification of the vulnerable, the collusion of institutions, and the myth of accountability.

After watching the last installment of Venom it gave me some nostalgia because I feel that Tom Hardy is still the only thing that keeps this franchise afloat but I also wondered if this trilogy closing was really necessary because it left me like when you finish a series that you don't know if you liked it or just watched it because you were already hooked, the movie has good moments but it also has parts that make you think why the fuck Sony keeps doing these things without Spider-Man. One thing I didn't like is that it's many things at once, sometimes it's a road trip comedy, other times it wants to be an emotional drama about friendship and suddenly it turns into a generic action movie with CGI all over the place. Eddie Brock is on the run all over the United States with his symbiote attached, from Mexico to Las Vegas to the desert and ending up at a super-secret military base where everything obviously goes to hell, but instead of feeling like he's in danger I was always left waiting for the next bad joke or the next forced reference to the previous movies.

Después de ver la última entrega de Venom me dio algo de nostalgia por que siento que Tom Hardy sigue siendo lo único que mantiene esta franquicia a flote pero también me pregunté si este cierre de trilogía era realmente necesario porque me dejó como cuando terminas una serie que no sabes si te gustó o nada más la viste porque ya estabas enganchado, la película tiene momentos buenos pero también tiene partes que te hacen pensar por qué carajos Sony sigue haciendo estas cosas sin Spider-Man. Algo que no me gustó es que es muchas cosas a la vez, a veces es una comedia de viaje por carretera, otras veces quiere ser un drama emocional sobre la amistad y de repente se convierte en una película de acción genérica con CGI por todos lados. Eddie Brock anda huyendo por todo Estados Unidos con su simbionte pegado, desde México hasta Las Vegas pasando por el desierto y terminando en una base militar súper secreta donde obviamente todo se va al carajo, pero en lugar de sentir que está en peligro siempre me quedé esperando el siguiente chiste malo o la siguiente referencia forzada a las películas anteriores.

Tom Hardy is still the main reason I always watch these movies, to me it seems like the guy really gets into character and manages to create that weird chemistry between Eddie and Venom that is the only thing that sets this franchise apart from the rest of the superhero garbage Hollywood brings us every month. When Hardy is on screen doing his weird voices and talking to himself as if he were a married couple fighting over who drives the car the movie works and even gets a good laugh, the problem is that the rest of the actors are too much like equals they don't generate any impact. Chiwetel Ejiofor does what he can as the military man obsessed with capturing aliens but his character is poorly written and I never knew if he was good or bad or confused, Juno Temple appears as the scientist who is obviously going to become a symbiote later on but her backstory about losing her brother to a lightning bolt is so bad that it seems like she was added just because. The only moments where the movie really shines are when Eddie and Venom are alone on the road, talking about life and doing stupid shit like dancing with Mrs. Chen in a Las Vegas casino, I liked that dance scene a lot but then the regular action comes in and it's all messed up again.

Cuando Hardy está en pantalla haciendo sus voces raras y hablando consigo mismo como si fuera una pareja de casados peleando por quien maneja el carro la película funciona y hasta da risa de buena manera, el problema es que el resto de los actores son demasiado equis no generan ningún impacto. Chiwetel Ejiofor hace lo que puede como el militar obsesionado con capturar aliens pero su personaje está mal escrito y nunca supe si era bueno o malo o estaba confundido, Juno Temple aparece como la científica que obviamente se va a convertir en simbionte más adelante pero su historia de trasfondo sobre perder a su hermano por un rayo está tan mal que parece que la agregaron porque si y ya. Los únicos momentos donde la película realmente brilla son cuando Eddie y Venom están solos en el camino, hablando sobre la vida y haciendo pendejadas como bailar con Mrs. Chen en un casino de Las Vegas, esa escena del baile me gustó bastante pero después llega la acción común y se echa a perder todo otra vez.

Visually the movie is okay although it is nothing spectacular, Venom's special effects look better than in the previous movies but there are still moments where it looks like a video game of the last generation, especially in that part when he is running through the desert riding a horse which is obviously pure CGI. The action scenes are also good but for me they lack that creativity that I really expected after three movies, we already know that Venom can make tentacles, we already know that he can turn into a motorcycle, we already know that he can eat heads, but here he doesn't do anything new that justifies making another movie about the same character. The main bad guy is a guy named Knull who is supposedly the god of the symbiotes, he appears about five minutes into the whole movie and most of the time he's sitting in a chair looking down like he's depressed, they may be saving him for future movies but here he was no threat he was more boring than intimidating, his segudiors don't help much either because they are basically black bugs running towards the camera making weird noises. The movie tries to make up for the lack of a real threat by throwing in a bunch of military scientists and minor aliens but it never manages to create a real sense of danger, you always know that Eddie and Venom are going to come out okay in the end because they are the main characters and Sony needs to keep the franchise alive to keep making money.

Visualmente la película está bien aunque no es nada espectacular, los efectos especiales de Venom se ven mejor que en las películas anteriores pero aún hay momentos donde parece videojuego de la generación pasada, más que todo en esa parte cuando está corriendo por el desierto montado en un caballo que obviamente es puro CGI. Las escenas de acción también están bien pero para mí les falta esa creatividad que la verdad esperaba después de tres películas, ya sabemos que Venom puede hacer tentáculos, ya sabemos que puede convertirse en moto, ya sabemos que puede comer cabezas, pero aquí no hace nada nuevo que justifique hacer otra película sobre el mismo personaje. El malo principal es un tal Knull que supuestamente es el dios de los simbiontes, aparece como cinco minutos en toda la peli y la mayoría del tiempo está sentado en una silla viendo hacia abajo como si estuviera deprimido, puede que lo esten guardando para futuras películas pero aquí no fue ninguna amenza fue más aburrido que intimidante, sus segudiores tampoco ayudan mucho porque son básicamente bichos negros que corren hacia la cámara haciendo ruidos raros. La película intenta compensar la falta de una amenza de verdad metiendo a un montón de científicos militares y aliens menores pero nunca logra crear una sensación real de peligro, siempre sabes que Eddie y Venom van a salir bien al final porque son los protagonistas y Sony necesita mantener la franquicia viva para seguir haciendo dinero.

What frustrates me the most about The Last Dance is that it had potential and the idea that Eddie and Venom have to part ways forever could have been really emotional if they had developed it right, but instead they make up a whole story about invading aliens and secret military bases that I already feel like I've seen a thousand times in other movies. The script feels like it was written by many people every new character that appears is there to serve a specific function in the plot but they are never like real people with motivations of their own, the hippie family that appears in the middle of the movie could have been fun but only serves to move Eddie from one place to another, the military scientist that appears at the end could have been an interesting change but his revelation is more random than anything else. Even the ending where Venom sacrifices himself to save Eddie and the world is pretty forced because I never felt like there was enough reason to believe they were really going to part ways for good, I know Sony is going to find a way to bring him back in the next movie because these franchises never really end they just take breaks until they need more money. The movie is almost two hours long but to me it felt like they cut important scenes to get more action in, there are moments where characters make decisions that don't make sense just because the script needs them to be in a certain place at a certain time.

Lo que mas me frustra de The Last Dance es que tenía potencial y la idea de que Eddie y Venom tienen que separarse para siempre pudo haber sido realmente emotiva si la hubieran desarrollado bien, pero en lugar de eso se inventan toda una historia sobre aliens invasores y bases militares secretas que ya siento que he visto mil veces en otras películas. El guión es como si hubiera sido escrito por muchas personas cada personaje nuevo que aparece está ahí para servir una función específica en la trama pero nunca son como personas reales con motivaciones propias, la familia hippie que aparece a la mitad de la película pudo haber sido divertida pero solo sirve para mover a Eddie de un lugar a otro, el científico militar que aparece al final pudo haber sido un cambio interesante pero su revelación es más random que otra cosa. Incluso el final donde Venom se sacrifica para salvar a Eddie y al mundo es bastante forzado porque nunca sentí que hibo razones suficientes para creer que realmente se iban a separar para siempre, se que Sony va a encontrar la manera de traerlo de vuelta en la siguiente película porque estas franquicias nunca terminan de verdad solo toman descansos hasta que necesitan mas dinero. La película dura casi dos horas pero a mi me pareciuó como si hubieran cortado escenas importantes para meter más acción, hay momentos donde los personajes toman decisiones que no tienen sentido solo porque el guión necesita que estén en cierto lugar en cierto momento.

For me Venom The Last Dance is exactly what one would expect from Sony trying to make superhero movies without having the rights to the most important characters and it's not that I have the war mounted on them but come on do something better, it's entertaining if you turn off your brain and just want to see Tom Hardy do weird voices for two hours, but as a trilogy closer for mpi it was quite incomplete and unsatisfying. I thought it didn't bring anything new to the universe of these characters nor really justify its existence beyond the commercial aspect, if you're a fan of the first two movies you'll probably enjoy this one too and well I actually saw it so I wanted to complete the trilogy but don't expect anything out of this world it's just going to entertain you and that's it. My score for this last part of Venom is 6.5/10, I think it's the typical throwaway entertainment product that Hollywood produces when they don't feel like taking real risks, it's not something that deserves an enthusiastic recommendation.

Para mí Venom The Last Dance es exactamente lo que uno esperaría de Sony intentando hacer películas de superhéroes sin tener los derechos de los personajes más importantes y no es que les tengo la guerra montada sino que vamos hagan algo mejor, es entretenida si apagas el cerebro y solo quieres ver a Tom Hardy hacer voces raras por dos horas, pero como cierre de trilogía para mpi fue bastante incompleta y poco satisfactoria. Me pareció que no aporta nada nuevo al universo de estos personajes ni justifica realmente su existencia mas allá del aspecto comercial, si eres fan de las primeras dos películas probablemente vas a disfrutar esta también y bueno yo realmente la vi por eso quería completar la trilogía pero no esperes nada de otro mundo solo te va a entretener y ya. Mi puntuación de esta ultima parte de Venom es 6.5/10, opino que es el típico producto de entretenimiento descartable que Hollywood produce cuando no tiene ganas de tomar riesgos reales, no es algo que merezca una recomendación entusiasmada.

Thinking about this movie is really unexpected that after so many years this actress decided to return and give her an opportunity again in Hollywood, I´m talking about Pamela Anderson, she is in the new movie The Last Showgirl, she plays Shelly a 57 year old showgirl that has been doing the same act in Vegas for over 38 years but suddenly it is cancelled since that moment she must figure out what the hell she is going to do with her life. What really got me hooked though was how the movie doesnt try to make Vegas look all glamorous and exciting like most movies do, instead it shows you the backstage chaos and the day to day grind of people who are basically just trying to survive, which feels way more real than all that glittery bullshit we usually see. A move directed by Gia Coppola, as soon as you see that last name you start to judge right away because his grandfather is not more than Francis Ford Coppola a legend in Hollywood so knowing you expect more than a decent movie.

Remembering her days on Baywatch Pamela Anderson probably didn´t demonstrate her acting capacity because back in the ´90 she was more a sex symbol now with her new role she wants to show that she can performed more deepest characters. Shelly is presented as weird mix of being vulnerable but also stubborn as hell, a person who refuse give up in life even though all those years of disappointment she carries, at the same time you can see a more motherhood side when she is taking care of other dancers show us that she care about others. In addition to this story a new person is shown Jamie Lee Curtis playing the role of Shelly best friend Annette both of them are going to continue fighting and hang on onto whatever dignity they have left. Jamie Lee Curtis as usual embrace her role giving perfect mix of bitterness and humor to a character who could have easily been just another sad aging performer and completing the triplet is David Bautista who plays Eddie the stage manager bringing this quiet strength to the role, also theres a story between him and Shelly that the movie reveals slowly, every single character is in place including the supporting cast which are Kiernan Shipka and Brenda Song who plays the younger dancers both did a good job showing how they look up to Shelly even when she is struggling with her own demons.

This is the moment when we must concentrate in talk about the resurgence of Pamela Anderson career, being honest she as an actress that doesn´t has a long acting history, she is remember for few things like the Baywatch T.V. series and an infamous sex tape, I really didn´t know about it existence I only knew about the Kim Kardashian sex tape now about this one too but let focus, returning to the main topic that is Pamela Anderson as an actress, she really brought something special to this role that surprised the hell out of me. In the movie she is now a 57 year old woman remembering her first audition where she felt nervous and totally out of her comfort zone after that flashback she bring us back to the present where we can see that she actually has been doing the same for almost four decades since the 80s she has always been part of the Razzle Dazzle we can confirmed that at the moment we saw the promotional posters of those first year as performer knowing that it has been her life for 40 years if weird to tell how you can feel about it can be impressive or depressing is something to think about it, as Shelly she continue showing us her life but now at the backstage, it is full of energy and chaos during the show everyone scrambling around changing costumes between number, the good part of all this chaos is that the young dancers feels comfortable with Shelly, she has become a very important part of their life like a mother figure in special for Jodie whos dealing with family shit, knowing that probably Shelly is dealing with her personal demons she is willing to be a guidance for the people who surround her and not only be tag as an aging performer.

I do believe that a good way a movie can reflect a real aspect in a story is creating that essence that can touch your soul and the way of doing it is showing us real personal relationships this movie show us the relationship between all those women has how they support each other in a industry that basically treats them as disposable but also can show us how that same industry can affect, manipulate and destroy a relation between a daughter and a mother, Billy Lourd is Shelly´s distanced daughter Hannah their scenes together are some of the most emotionally powerful in the whole movie, you can see how Shellys dedication to her career has cost her the relationship with her own daughter creating this tension between following your dreams and being a responsible parent, this kind of situation is what many families faces just thinking that with a better job can provide a better life to their children but unfortunately for Shelly wasn´t the case, being parent will never be easy also being an aging actress and that is reflected in a very difficult scene which is the audition scene feature Jason Schwartzman as this casting director who basically tells Shelly that she is too old not talented enough for what he is looking for and that her time has passed, dam that was brutal and realistic, the way that this casting director spit all those words to Shelly felt diabolic because it shows how the entertainment industry treats aging women, especially those whose careers have been based on their looks, even though that unfortunately moment that Shelly lived, I can tell you that the a scene with Jamie Lee Curtis is an slap in the face for those who think that age is a problem, this actress is incredible in her role as Annette, she gets up and dances by herself in the middle of a casino making that scene both heartbreaking and beautiful, it show someone who still has passion for performing even though the world has written her off giving a look to a woman that still can fight and defiance to the moment.

I didn´t think this will be a movie that can impress me but I always believe that we must give a chance to movies that probably will never be our first option to watch The Last Showgirl only call the attention of the people for the actress Pamela Anderson and that´s the truth why? For the same reason that I watched, I need to know that despite all this years she has something to good to show us as an audience and let me tell you she did it, more that than the movie is good, the way that Vegas was shown without fall into all the usual cliches about the excess, the glamour, the sex, gambling you know all those things when you hear Vegas, also the way time is passing showing how Shelly started as a main show in the Razzle Dazzle and the audience is waiting for her with expectation but then the present hit you with a totally different reality theres almost now audience waiting for her even though that situation in backstage the performers and her are rushing to get ready a give best of them that night but everything get to end when the Razzle Dazzle is bought and close in this point of the movie Shelly knows she stock in a world that doesn´t belong to her anymore, that she doesn´t know anything else but being a performer, her desperation at that point is real working hard to not fall apart as everything does around her. Pamela Anderson proves that she was not only the old sexy woman that many people watched back in the days in Baywatch, she really gave more as an actress in this role as Shelly doing a good job and working with a good supporting cast that backup her making her shine in this movie. Despite all the thoughts Pamela Anderson movie, yes Im going to call it in that way because I do believe that´s the way many people will call it, is a good movie showing the struggle many actors and actress passed through at the moment they reach certain age and not only they because in real life many people pass for the same thing every single day, that´s why I got something in my mind, the way Shelly work in the same place doing the same thing for more than 40 years and at the end she only received a ¨thank you for your services¨, that happen to many people so is good to stay working for so many years in the same place or is better to move, grow as an person, learn different things and no only get stock in one place in one thing in one job, probably many people will say well is better move but sometimes for other is not so easy for that reason this is a good story force you think in the future when we all are going to arrive in one point of our live. At the end this movie doesn´t confirm if will work perfectly for Shelly but at least show us that she learn about herself who she is and that she can continue with her life with out her costumes and a stage, not a revolutionary movie but a good enough one time watch a 6.5/10 is fine.

I just stumbled on one of those beautiful edits from The Summer I Turned Pretty and finally decided to make this post. My TikTok FYP has been going crazy with the whole “Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah” debate, and it’s been so fun going through them. The edits, comments, banter, observations, and all the different takes people have about the show. Honestly, I would have sworn the Movie and TV Shows community on Hive would also be filled with creators’ posts about this show, The Summer I Turned Pretty. Shockingly, I got here and haven’t seen a single post about it, even after my endless scrolling. This almost made me chicken out of making this post, because the big question is “WHO ELSE IS FOLLOWING THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY OVER HERE?!” But I decided to post anyway. I want to have faith that there are TSITP fans here too.

This isn’t exactly a movie review by the way. It’s more like me sharing my thoughts about the show and telling you which team I’m on (with my reasons, of course). I honestly hope someone argues with me so we can start a whole conversation and banter, lol! Guys, the tension is a whole lot, it’s literally torture to wait a whole week for new episodes of a show that ends with crazy cliffhangers every time. As much as I like following shows so I can relate to posts on social media, the tension that comes with it is a lot too. I remember how pained I was when I finished Game of Thrones about two years ago and had no one to rant to or share my feelings with. I couldn’t even find recent posts about it. I just had to stay in my room and process the whole thing by myself, which was torture too. Honestly, I don’t even know where I stand; it’s torture either way.

Anyways, who else is TEAM CONRAD over here? YES, I am a hundred percent Team Conrad and have been since the very beginning. I don’t understand why people misunderstand his character so much or the things he was going through when he was with Belly. Obviously, he didn’t handle his depression well, but really, I don’t think it’s fair to tell people how to process hurt. I just wish he had communicated better and stopped being so scared of messing things up, because that’s exactly what happened eventually. His character is very complex, he battles with anxiety, panic attacks and so much more, it's crazy.

I’ve never been on Team Jeremiah because of certain things that happened in season one. The most annoying was when he shot that firework to distract Belly and Conrad from having their very first kiss. The anger and jealousy in his eyes was so questionable. And then, seeing how bubbly Conrad was the next morning, Jeremiah still went ahead to confess his love to Belly. Who does that?! He created that unnecessary triangle that’s stressing us all till now. And after Belly went back to Conrad after their talk, Jeremiah got crazily mad. He literally started seeing Belly as a potential love interest when he sensed there was something between her and Conrad. Like he just wanted to compete with him or something, since people always made him feel Conrad was better than him. I could go on and on, for real.

Even with Jeremiah cheating in this new season and how annoying his character has been, I still don’t understand the hate people give to him. They even extend the hate from his character to him as a person—that’s so low! I don’t get how people can’t separate an actor from their role. Some were even mocking his eyes. His eyes? those eyes are so damn beautiful, duhh! Jeremiah is gorgeous, he’s such a fine person. I just judged way beyond looks before choosing a team. Jeremiah’s character is weak, insecure, and manipulative, but also complex and deserving of grace sometimes. For instance, his dad is usually way too hard on him, and he constantly feels the need to prove himself.

Let’s talk about Belly for a minute before I end this, because I could go on and on, lol. Belly babies Jeremiah way too much and compromises so much in that relationship. Just so he doesn’t get mad or start crashing out, she literally suppresses her own happiness for his sake. She wouldn’t take half of those things if she were with Conrad. With him, she finds it natural to say her mind, even if it comes out harsh sometimes. She could easily forgive Jeremiah for cheating, but couldn’t forgive Conrad for being depressed and withdrawn while his mom was dying. GREAT! Belly needs to be brutally honest with herself, and we all know that if she ever gets to that point, she’ll definitely go for Conrad.

Aside from all of this, I hate storylines like this! It’s so messed up, because why make one person be between two brothers? It’s not even just between them, there are too many back-and-forths, and it’s like they don’t realize how messed up it is. I can’t even imagine that happening in real life—it’s so cringy. Jeremiah would have been the best best-friend material for Belly, while Belly and Conrad remain the soulmates that they already are. But for the sake of drama, where’s the fun in that? lol. So, we wait to see how it all pans out.

The whole wedding situation is also hilarious—Jeremiah doesn’t even know what’s next, he just wants to win so badly. Like Belly is a trophy or something, okay! As much as I want Belly and Conrad to end up together, I don’t even know what that would look like. Her shuffling between brothers is just weird. Still, I look forward to whatever Jenny Han is cooking—it better be good. I cannot handle being heartbroken at the end of this show. I’ll come here to crash out.

On this whole “TEAM CONRAD OR TEAM JEREMIAH” debate, it’s literally everywhere—even the football team Juventus posted about it on TikTok! And guess what? THEY ARE TEAM CONRAD, YAYYYYYY! NBL(National Basketball League) also posted as well and they are team Conrad.
