Synopsis

Godzilla awakens, seemingly hunting something, and attacks certain titans... Kong, in the hollow earth, desperately searches for any remaining members of his kind.

Meanwhile, Dr. Andrew struggles to educate Jia, the sole survivor of her people. But Jia is troubled by nightmares or visions, while Monarch detects signals strangely similar to the drawings made by Jia... What is happening in the hollow earth? We'll have to investigate.

Casting

We will see familiar faces from other episodes of the saga, playing roles that are rather well acted, some of them caricatures, such as the podcaster or the pilot. Dan Stevens is funny and crazy, just the way I like him.

The other roles are fairly classic: the scientist mother, the chosen one...

My opinion

A new episode in the saga of these gigantic and terrifying creatures, who have little qualms about causing damage to maintain their alpha status. However, they are intelligent and therefore capable of strategy and alliance, and we see Kong unite to defeat a common enemy. Humans, as foolish as ever, seek to destroy what they don't understand rather than to join the real fight, even though in a previous episode they seemed to have understood that this was the key to survival. Fortunately, a few humans, always the same ones, and not necessarily the most powerful or well-known, are working in the right direction.

The story confronts us with A Great Evil and offers the script original techniques to combat it, giving rise to some very well-done special effects, with a few liberties taken, but it's enjoyable to watch, and we let ourselves be carried away, knowing that in this dystopia, it's possible.

On the other hand, if we count the number of collateral victims, we quickly get a headache :)

A good piece of entertainment that will clear your head for an evening, to which I give a solid 8/10.

Synopsis

Godzilla se réveille, il semble traquer quelque chose, et s'attaque à certains titans... Kong, dans la terre creuse cherche désespérément s'il reste de ses semblables.

Pendant ce temps le Dr Andrew éduque avec difficulté Jia, seule rescapée de son peuple. Mais Jia est perturbée par des cauchemars ou des visions alors que Monarch détecte des signaux étrangement semblables aux dessins faits pas Jia... Que se passe-t-il donc dans la terre creuse ? Il va falloir enquêter.

Distribution

Nous retrouverons des têtes d'autres épisodes de la saga, pour des rôles plutôt bien joué, certains dans la caricature, comme le podcaster ou le pilote. Avec un Dan Stevens dans l'humour et le déjanté comme j'aime encore bien.

Les autres rôles sont plutôt classique : La mère scientifique, l’héroïne élue ...

Mon avis

Un nouvel épisode de la Saga que ces créatures gigantesques et terribles, qui n'ont guère de scrupules à faire des dégâts pour garder leur statut d'Alpha. Intelligents cependant et donc capables de stratégie, et d'alliance, on verra Kong unir pour défaire un ennemi commun. Les humains toujours aussi idiots cherchent à détruire ce qu'ils ne comprennent toujours pas plutôt qu'à rejoindre la lutte, alors que dans un épisode précédent ils avaient l'air d'avoir compris que c'était la clef de la survie. Heureusement quelques humains, toujours les mêmes, et pas forcément les plus puissants ou connus, œuvrent dans le bon sens.

L'histoire nous met ici face au Grand mal, et offre au scénario des techniques originales pour le combattre, donnant lieu a des effets spéciaux fort bien réalisés, avec cependant quelques libertés, mais c'est plaisant à regarder, on se laisse porter sachant que dans cette dystopie, c'est possible.

Par contre si on compte le nombre de victimes collatérales, on a vite mal de tête :)

Un bon divertissement qui vous vider ala tête le temps d'une soirée, au quel je laisse un bon 8/10.

The title “Back in Action” was a no-brainer because a movie with that title just points in the direction of someone who goes back into the field after going off the radar for a while. For this reason, I decided to delay my watching of the movie for as long as I could. I already knew I was going to see it eventually, but I just didn't know when. The time actually came sooner than expected and I'm here to share my thoughts on the movie eight months after its official release.

About The Movie

The movie “Back in Action” starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, is a light-hearted action comedy about a former spy couple who come out of retirement to protect their family and deal with threats linked to a digital weapon that went missing during their last mission.Set after they have settled into suburban life with their children, the film mixes domestic family challenges with action sequences and comedic moments. The big question is; would the couple be able to protect their children from the life they've kept away from them for so many years?

This action comedy film was released on the 17th of January. Directed by Seth Gordon. The film has a runtime of 114 minutes.

My Opinion

This was a fun and silly yet entertaining film although the plot wasn't original. One could tell the end from the beginning but the action sequences and the timely screen appearances of the lead actors made the movie worth watching.

The chemistry between the two lead actors Diaz(as Emily) and Foxx(as Matt) was undeniable. One would think they were an actual couple in reality.Their playful banters and charismatic performances stood out. Also, after spending ten years away from the acting world, Cameron Diaz acted pretty well each time she came on the screen. And that is a big flex.

The action sequences were well choreographed with the fights being fast paced and exciting to watch. The fight between the couple and a group of paid gunmen at a fueling station was one of my favourites. This was the point of the big reveal. Emily and Matt had to fight the bad guys that had surrounded them and for the first time, their children saw them in full swing. This of course led to a truckload of questions and I must say, I like how well the parents handled the situation.

Then there was my favorite character; Glenn Close as Ginny. Ginny was Emily's British estranged mother who was an embodiment of a vicious lady. She didn't appear in many scenes but whenever she did appear, she was mostly the hero of that moment. Ginny was a liberal and very wise character that brought a tinge of excitement to every single scene.

Some of the themes portrayed in this film include family and parenthood, responsibility, love, redemption, teamwork and partnership and identity amongst others. The film portrayed how hard parenting kids, especially teenagers, can be. However, the film went a notch higher to show the best possible ways to always handle certain situations involving teenagers. It was quite insightful.

The ending was action-packed and quite satisfying but this somehow tipped off the viewers about a possible sequel because a villain was still lurking around somewhere, somehow.

Recommendation and Rating

Back in Action is an enjoyable movie perfect for casual movie nights or just for passing time. It may not be a very memorable movie seeing that the plot isn't an original or mind blowing one but the movie is certainly a light-hearted and fun watch. I would give it a 7 out of 10 rating. This movie is recommended for those who like the action comedy genre or those just looking to have an amusing, lightweight experience rather than a complex story.

One of Them Days with Keke Palmer and SZA just dropped some time ago and Im not much into comedy so decided to watch with my wife and honestly I wasn't expecting much from another buddy comedy about broke people scrambling for rent money but this movie actually surprised me in the best way possible. The whole setup is pretty straightforward, Drew played by Keke Palmer and Alyssa played by SZA are roommates living paycheck to paycheck when Alyssa's trifling boyfriend takes their rent money and disappears with it, leaving them exactly nine hours to come up with fifteen hundred dollars or get evicted by their landlord who clearly means business since we see another tenant already getting thrown out on the street. What makes this work so well is the chemistry between Palmer and SZA, they really feel like two friends who genuinely care about each other even when they're making questionable decisions left and right, plus the movie takes place in Los Angeles which gives us some great scenery of neighborhoods that don't usually get the spotlight in mainstream cinema. The supporting cast is solid too with appearances from Katt Williams as this street wise guy named Lucky who hangs around the payday loan office warning people about the dangers of high interest loans, Maude Apatow as the new gentrifying neighbor who actually ends up helping them out, and even Lil Rel Howery shows up to buy some stolen Jordans which adds another layer of chaos to their already hectic day.

I would have to say that the first half is the best part of the movie when the comedy feels natural and the situations escalate organically, Drew has this job interview at four in the afternoon for a franchise manager position at Norms which adds extra pressure since she's trying to better herself while dealing with all this craziness. Meanwhile Alyssa is more of the free spirit artist type who believes everything will work out through good vibes and positive energy, which obviously drives the more practical Drew up the wall when they're facing homelessness in a matter of hours. Their desperate attempts to raise money lead them through various LA locations including a blood bank where Janelle James has a cameo as a first day phlebotomist who accidentally lets Drew give way too much blood, resulting in some pretty funny physical comedy as she stumbles around in this ridiculous outfit they gave her from the donation clothes pile. The movie does does great at showing how drastically money can affects communities through the character of Bethany played by Maude Apatow, when she moves into their building all the longtime residents literally stop what they're doing to stare at her like she's some kind of exotic animal and you can feel the tension of a neighborhood in transition.

Where things get really interesting is when they find some expensive Jordans hanging from power lines and decide to take them down and sell them, not realizing these shoes belong to the local intimidating guy everyone calls King Lolo who definitely doesn't appreciate people messing with his property. This leads to probably the most tense parts of the movie as they now owe him even more money on top of their rent situation, and the actor playing King Lolo brings a genuinely menacing presence that makes you believe these women are in real danger. The whole sequence where SZA climbs the electrical pole to get the shoes is both hilarious and terrifying, especially when she gets electrocuted like a cartoon character but somehow survives, which gives you an idea of how the movie balances realism with more outrageous comedy elements. Bernice, played by newcomer Aiza Scott, becomes another highlight when they track down Alyssa's cheating boyfriend to her house, she's got this larger than life personality and when she chases them down the street after they disturb her afternoon, the way she runs like a track star while completely focused on revenge had me cracking up in the theater.

It more like towards the third part of the movie, very close to thee ending is where the movie had its most ups and downs, dont want to exaggerate neither, its a bit as it tries to wrap everything up with coincidences and conveniences that feel a little too neat or I would say too rushed, like when Bethany suddenly becomes the solution to their art selling scheme or when the job interviewer shows up at their imprompt gallery opening. I have to admin that the movie does earn a lot of credit on the emotion side of the story and how the actors perform those parts, particularly Palmer who becomes the one who is both the responsible friend trying to keep everything together and the awkward woman who can barely form sentences around the cute firefighter she has a crush on. SZA holds her own as an actress even though this is basically her film debut, she brings a natural quality to Alyssa that makes her feel like a real person rather than just the "irresponsible friend" stereotype, and when the two friends have their inevitable falling out you actually care about whether they'll work things out. The movie also does nice work with its LA locations, from the Norms diner on La Cienega to various neighborhood spots that give the film an authentic feel for people who actually live in these areas rather than just visiting for Instagram photos.

One of Them Days isn't going to change cinema forever but it succeeds as exactly what it sets out to be, a funny hangout movie about friendship that happens to have something to say about economic anxiety and neighborhood change without being preachy about it. The direction by Lawrence Lamont keeps things moving at a good pace even when the plot gets a little contrived, and the script finds ways to give the supporting characters actual personalities rather than just making them plot devices. Palmer and SZA carry the movie with their easy rapport and comic timing, they feel like real friends who've been living together long enough to know exactly how to push each other's buttons, and even when they're making terrible decisions you're rooting for them to figure things out. The movie clocks in at about an hour and forty minutes which feels just right for this kind of story, it doesn't overstay its welcome or try to be more important than it needs to be, it just wants to make you laugh and maybe think a little about what it's like to live one financial emergency away from disaster. If you're looking for something light and entertaining that also happens to showcase some great chemistry between two performers who clearly enjoyed working together, One of Them Days delivers exactly what you'd hope for from a Saturday night comedy, nothing crazy and its hard for me to score comedy although this one is not one that I would constantly be looking for when I want to watch some comedy, feels like we just had to.

Firstly I got this idea from our jolly Irish, @tengolotodo, and since I feel my post schedule has become a bit monotonous lately, why not add another community to the posting list. In this post I'll talk about the last game weeks, my players, the points and the plans for the next.

My choices might seem odd to some, in actuality to my friends they brought a fair amount of ridicule. Yet when choosing these players on Wednesday night, I made my choice like how I do when placing a bet; based on last results and quite frankly my guts.

I'll be clear, making choices because of the influx of new players and sheer rowdiness in this summer transfer season wasn't easy. Yet I was chanced to watch a few matches and it's from those matches that I made my decision.

The first thing I thought of when filling my team last week was.. Don't choose Salah. Now don't get me wrong, Salah is phenomenal. His work rate alone is stupendous and that smell of a goal is beautiful and renowned. That's exactly why I didn't choose him. He is well feared and rightfully so.

Hence the defenders of opposing teams would be high pressed to block him. Nunez who was turning out to be his new Firmino has been sold-and apparently doing wonderfully in his new club (Slot I won't soon forgive you!!!)

So instead of Salah, I took my bet on the new Liverpool lads and at least one of them made my day.

Hugo Ekitike is a talent, and I wonder just how far he would go, surely someone that would be captained for a long time. After choosing Ekitike, Alisson and Wirt, I moved on to sign the keeper that kept Liverpool out of the community shield. His saves made me get him and it seemed to have stop Chelsea too.

After these 4 players, the rest were made simply on guts.

Reijnders was one bet I didn't expect to win but was really glad it did. I hardly watch Man City, nor do I keep track of their movement unless of course when they play Liverpool. So I really didn't know anything about Reijnders, I just saw his form and price and boom. Kudus, Cucurella and Gabriel were safe choices though, these were people I know could safely anchor 4 points and above due to their work rate and past matches. I know Nottingham for its defense and I remember Traore in particular to be awesome in midfield.... ...and gbam my starting 11 was all set.

I think the real miracle is the fact that all my benched players are got 0 points. We thank God for that😂😂

This massive luck in team selection made me win my first hive fpl pvp...

... Against who I can only guess to be @deraaa or someone who found it fitting to use her name as his team name.

And landed me at the 20th spot in the team table..

... down with the other 61's...

Overall it was a good football week with the only downside being Chelsea disgracing themselves on the 1st day.

Which is sad because I wanted to trouble @blanchy some more in the Last Man Standing Draw...

Changes for next week haven't been decided yet but it would most likely be from the bench, cause why can four players in a row get 0 points? That's just lazy of them...

Se que muchos andan preguntandose si vale la pena ver esta nueva version de I Know What You Did Last Summer y sinceramente después de verla creo que las dos son igual me gustaron y están allí en una pelea jajaja, yo vi la versión original del 97 en el cine y luego la vi varias veces en televisión, claro en el 97 yo era una chama y por supuesto me ausstó y creo que fue de esas primeras pelis de terror que vi en el cine sola con mis amigas de ese entonces y después vino Final Destination, así que podría decir que I Know What You Did Last Summer fue la que me metio en este genero. Pues obviamente tenia las expectativas bien puestas no sabia absolutamente nada de lo que me esperaba y eso fue lo mejor que me pudo pasar, esta version del 2025 me agarro desprevenida con todos los cambios que tiene me sentí que no sabía para donde iba pero eso me gustó porque me mantuvo atenta todo el tiempo, la vi con mi hijo que también vio conmigo Final Destination Bloodlines y le había gustado bastante y con esta también la pasamos bien eso ya dice mucho de una película que logra conectar con diferentes edades. No voy a mentirles diciendo que es perfecta porque por supuesto tiene sus problemas en el guion y las actuaciones a veces son algo forzadas, pero la verdad es que no necesito que una pelicula de terror sea una gran obra maestra para que me guste porque yo lo que voy buscando es que me haga pasar un buen rato y que me mantenga alerta y eso fue algo que logró completamente.

He escuchado a muchas personas hablando de esta peli sobre todo de mi generación y creo que es de esas que amas u odias porque algunos dicen que es horrible y otros que es una de las mejores secuelas que han visto en años, yo la verdad me mantengo en en el medio pero mas cerca del lado positivo. Jennifer Love Hewitt y Freddie Prinze Jr regresan a sus papeles originales y aunque no tienen tanto tiempo en pantalla como hubiese esperado, cuando aparecieron me llevó a esa época de los 90 recuerdo que las amigas con las que fui al cine eran unas vecinas del edificio donde vivía eran morochas y fuimos con la tía de ellas y la verdad sentí algo de nostalgia, sobre todo cuando apareció Jennifer que me parece teniendo esa presencia en camara que la hizo famosa en la franquicia original. Los nuevos actores hacen lo que pueden con el material que les dieron, algunos brillan mas que otros pero en general cumplen con su trabajo de ser carne de cañon esperando su turno para morir de manera creativa, que al final es lo que uno espera de una pelicula de I Know What You Did Last Summer. La directora Jennifer Kaitton Robinson, que habia hecho Do Revenge antes, maneja bien el ritmo y las escenas de tensión aunque hay momentos donde se nota que no tiene mucha experiencia con el terror, pero se defiende bastante bien considerando que este no es su genero habitual.

Lo que mas me gustó fue como lograron actualizar la formula sin cambiarla demasiado, siguen siendo jovenes ricos que hacen algo malo y después son perseguidos por alguien con un gancho, pero le metieron algunos cambios que no me esperaba para nada y que funcionan dentro del contexto de la historia. Las muertes están bien hechas aunque no son tan sangrientas como hubiese esperado de una pelicula de terror moderna, se quedan mas en el lado de lo sugestivo que en mostrar todo grafico, pero para mi eso esta bien porque la franquicia original tampoco era conocida por ser super gore sino mas bien por las persecuciones y el misterio del quien lo hizo. Las escenas de persecucion son decentes aunque no llegan al nivel icónico de la original con Helen Shivers corriendo por las calles de Southport, pero hay un par que me mantuvieron bien pendiente esperando ver que iba a pasar. Me parece que en cunato al diseño de la peli se mantiene fiel al original y todo se ve como una amenza, el sonido de las botas y el gancho rasguñando las superficies me dio igual escalofrios despues de tantos años, para mí esos detalles pequeños son los que demuestran que los que hicieron esta pelicula lograron mantener la esencia y lo especial de la original.

El misterio de quien es el asesino esta bien manejado aunque si prestas atencion puedes adivinar algunas cosas antes de tiempo, pero igual hay ciertas cosas ur te mantienen confundido hasta el final, hay como tres o cuatro personajes sospechosos que van apareciendo a lo largo de la pelicula y todos tienen sus razones para querer venganza. La revelacion final me tomo por sorpresa y aunque no voy a hacer spoilers puedo decir que es mas atrevida de lo que me esperaba, van por un camino que otras secuelas no se han atrevido a tomar y eso me parecio muy bueno sobretodo ahorita que ya las pelis son tan predecibles. Ya casi al finl es mi parte favorita porque todo se acelera y las muertes se vuelven mas creativas, hay una en particular que me dejo con la boca abierta por lo brutal que fue pero sin caer en la exageracion, logran ese balance dificil entre ser impactante pero no ridiculo. El final deja la puerta abierta para mas peliculas lo cual no me molesta si mantienen este nivel de calidad y hay una escena a mitad de creditos que promete cosas interesantes para el futuro.

Para mí I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 es una pelicula que cumple con lo que promete, es entretenimiento puro que no pretende revolucionar el genero sino dar un buen rato a los fans del terror y la nostalgia de los 90. Si van esperando algo profundo lo mejor es que busques en otro lado, pero si quieres recordar esa primera vez que viste la peli o ver a unos muchachos siendo perseguidos por un loco con un gancho mientras intentan descubrir quien es el asesino entonces te va a gustar. Ojo no estoy diciendo que sea perfecta porque tiene algunos momentos flojos pero logra capturar esa esencia de las peliculas de terror de finales de los 90 que yo por lo menos extrañaba, esas donde no todo tenia que tener un mensaje profundo sino que solo necesitaban asustarte y entretenerte. Yo le doy un 7.5/10 y la recomiendo si eres fan de la franquicia original o si te gusta el terror mas clasico, pero eso sí no la veas con las expectativas muy altas. A mí me dejo con ganas de ver que hacen con la siguiente entrega y eso ya es más de lo que puedo decir de muchas secuelas que he visto ultimamente.

I know that many are wondering if it's worth watching this new version of I Know What You Did Last Summer and honestly after watching it I think they are both the same I liked them and they are there in a fight hahaha, I saw the original version of 97 in the cinema and then I saw it several times on TV, Of course in '97 I was a kid and of course I loved it and I think it was one of those first horror movies I saw in the cinema alone with my friends at that time and then came Final Destination, so I could say that I Know What You Did Last Summer was the one that got me into this genre. Well obviously I had my expectations set, I knew absolutely nothing of what to expect and that was the best thing that could happen to me, this 2025 version caught me off guard with all the changes it has, I felt like I didn't know where it was going but I liked it because it kept me attentive all the time, I saw it with my son who also saw Final Destination Bloodlines with me and he liked it a lot and with this one we also had a good time, that says a lot about a movie that manages to connect with different ages. I'm not going to lie to you saying it's perfect because of course it has its problems in the script and the performances are sometimes a bit forced, but the truth is that I don't need a horror movie to be a great masterpiece for me to like it because what I'm looking for is to have a good time and keep me alert and that was something it completely achieved.

Source I've heard many people talking about this movie especially from my generation and I think it's one of those that you either love or hate because some say it's horrible and others say it's one of the best sequels they've seen in years, I actually stay in the middle but closer to the positive side. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr return to their original roles and although they don't have as much screen time as I would have expected, when they appeared it took me back to that time in the 90's I remember the friends I went to the movies with were neighbors from the building where I lived they were brunettes and we went with their aunt and I felt some nostalgia, especially when Jennifer appeared and I think she has the camera presence that made her famous in the original franchise. The new actors do what they can with the material they were given, some shine more than others but overall they do their job of being cannon fodder waiting for their turn to die creatively, which in the end is what one expects from an I Know What You Did Last Summer movie. Director Jennifer Kaitton Robinson, who has done Do Revenge before, handles the pacing and tension scenes well although there are moments where you can tell she doesn't have a lot of experience with horror, but she does pretty well considering this isn't her usual genre.

What I liked the most was how they managed to update the formula without changing it too much, it's still rich kids who do something bad and then are chased by someone with a hook, but they made some changes that I didn't expect at all and that work within the context of the story. The kills are well done although they are not as gory as I would have expected from a modern horror movie, they stay more on the suggestive side than showing everything graphic, but for me that's okay because the original franchise wasn't known for being super gore either but rather for the chases and the mystery of who did it. The chase scenes are decent although they don't reach the iconic level of the original with Helen Shivers running through the streets of Southport, but there are a couple that kept me on my toes waiting to see what was going to happen. I think the design of the movie stays true to the original and everything looks like a threat, the sound of the boots and the hook scratching the surfaces gave me the creeps after so many years, for me those small details are the ones that show that those who made this movie managed to keep the essence and the specialness of the original.

The mystery of who the killer is is well handled although if you pay attention you can guess some things before time, but there are still certain things that keep you confused until the end, there are about three or four suspicious characters that appear throughout the film and all have their reasons for wanting revenge. The final revelation took me by surprise and although I will not make spoilers I can say that it is more daring than I expected, they go down a path that other sequels have not dared to take and I thought that was very good especially now that movies are so predictable. Almost at the end is my favorite part because everything is accelerated and the deaths become more creative, there is one in particular that left me with my mouth open for how brutal it was but without falling into exaggeration, they achieve that difficult balance between being shocking but not ridiculous. The ending leaves the door open for more movies which I don't mind if they maintain this level of quality and there is a mid-credits scene that promises interesting things for the future.

For me I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 is a movie that delivers what it promises, it's pure entertainment that doesn't pretend to revolutionize the genre but to give a good time to horror fans and 90's nostalgia. If you're expecting something deep you better look elsewhere, but if you want to remember that first time you saw the movie or see some guys being chased by a madman with a hook while trying to find out who the killer is then you'll like it. I'm not saying it's perfect because it has some weak moments but it manages to capture that essence of the late 90's horror movies that I missed, the ones where not everything had to have a deep message but just needed to scare you and entertain you. I give it a 7.5/10 and I recommend it if you are a fan of the original franchise or if you like classic horror, but don't watch it with very high expectations. It left me wanting to see what they do with the next installment and that's more than I can say for many sequels I've seen lately.

Y es que si el guión es uno de sus puntos fuertes ya que la película no sienta las bases de este universo del yermo, en el cual podemos estar viendo que constituye cada cosa y cómo Hasta cierto punto es una especie de sociedad incluso nos dejan entrever que probablemente furiosa en una posible tercera entrega ahora sí se cuela ella podría ser una especie de villana que tarde o temprano en este mundo nuevo post apocalíptico no queda de otra que ser corrupto o tener mano dura, pero en esta película es un poco complicado definir porque hay villanos pero no todos son villanos la verdad es que todos son malos al mismo tiempo, pero a su vez todos están lidiando con sus propios intereses.

But then I kept hearing whispers about it—the kind of whispers that sound like, “This isn’t what you think it is.” And the fact that it was mixing vampires, forbidden love, and generational duty? I thought, okay, let me give it a shot. Little did I know, I was about to fall down a rabbit hole of passion, betrayal, and blood that would leave me restless at night.

That first moment—when Juliette and Calliope’s worlds collide… Juliette, the vampire trying so hard to live a normal life, pulled at something in me. She wasn’t the usual broody, heartless vampire we’ve seen a hundred times—she was awkward, vulnerable, almost soft. And then there’s Calliope, this fierce monster hunter raised to slay Juliette’s kind. When the two lock eyes, it’s not just attraction—it’s a collision course.

Watching them together felt like being in on a secret the world wasn’t ready for. I swear, I was holding my breath during their first kiss. That scene wasn’t just romance—it was rebellion, it was danger, it was the kind of moment that makes you remember your own first forbidden crush.

And the tension? My God. Whenever they were together there weighed like a millstone upon you the burden of their families. On the one hand, it is the vampire legacy Juliette is born into her family literally preparing her to accept her bloodlust. And on the other side, there are the sharp-eyed monster-hunting clan that she is waiting to prove herself to, in terms of strength and weaponry. The show was such that it made me feel like I was situated between two storms and lightning is striking on both sides. One dinner scene in particular has really stayed with me Juliette and her family attempt to be nice and Calliope and her family stare at them like they are wolves in sheep clothing. The furtive looks, the strained civilities, the under-pinning of any moment now, this table might turn into a riot--I was lapping it up. It did make me think of things in real life when two families or groups are fake friends and pretend to get along, but there is no other feeling with them but tension ready to pop.

The twists were cutting deeper. The thing that truly shocked me was the fact that the show did not flinch when it came to betrayal. I say, love stories are beautiful but First Kill served as a reminder that love is painful also, particularly when there is divided loyalty. Then one minute I would be cheering Juliette and Calliope on to just take off and leave their families in the dust, and then one minute I would be like, OH NO You did NOT just do that to them.

It has this one heart stopping scene where Juliette is simply hungry and she ends up doing something even she could not have anticipated. The wearyness and the guilt in her eyes; the way Calliope felt her heart break in those few seconds; it was cruel. It got me thinking of how at times, we end up hurting those that we so much need to protect and we are not even aware of it until it is too late.

And the family drama? Whew. Juliette’s mom was this perfect mix of elegance and menace—you could tell she loved her daughter, but her loyalty was first to the vampire legacy. Calliope’s family, on the other hand, reminded me of that unyielding kind of love—strict, disciplined, but suffocating. Watching Calliope try to balance her heart against her family’s expectations hit me harder than I expected. Haven’t we all been there in some way? Caught between what we want for ourselves and what the people we love demand of us?

What it did to me… This is where I will be honest to you: the watching of First Kill pulled me back into the past when I had to choose between love and loyalty. The pain of knowing that you will damage someone no matter which decision you make. It brought me back to late-night fights, confessions confided in low tones, and times when a wordless moment speaks louder than words could ever do. And perhaps that is why this tale stuck with me--those were not the only vampires and hunters in it. It was concerning the universal, heart-racking fact that love never comes free of charge. I was sitting there, and asking myself: suppose I had been Calliope, could I have killed the man I loved? And were I Juliette, Would I identify myself, with some one, to the exclusion of myself? Those are questions to which no element of fantasy can give pall. They are uncooked, humane and spooky.

The blood, the tears, the choices—they all stitched together into something more than a show. It became a mirror. A mirror to those moments in life where love feels both like salvation and destruction.

My reflection… First Kill is not flawless but there are parts in which the story faltered in pace, or where the fantasy took over the essence of the story. The fact however is, that it did not have to be perfect. It had to be true. And in that haunting, passionate fashion, it was.

It took me back to the real meaning of being human, even in a world of monsters. That love is not tidy or comfortable- it is dirty, frightening, and at times destructive. But also it is worth fighting. And perhaps, just perhaps that is what makes us live.

Now, what would you do, you see,--suppose you were called upon to choose between family and love, between duty and your own hearts, what would you do? Since that is the question First Kill leaves burning in me and I can not stop thinking about it.

Americana is a classic Outlaw Western story set in modern times. This movie has murder, robbery, family drama, twisted morals, and a variety of other elements that make for a compelling Western. And they do all of these things without making the story corny.

This movie was cast well. All of the actors were great in their roles. All of the main characters in the film were misfits who showed desperation in their own ways. Whether it was to find love, to share their talent with the world, to prove that their self-perception is valid, to reclaim what is theirs, or to get rich, their desperation determined how they moved through the story. Do to their desperation, they were all drawn to the Lokota Ghost Shirt based on how possessing the Ghost Shirt could help them achieve their goals.

The movie has a little blonde dreamer played by Sydney Sweeney. A gritty female character willing to do whatever it takes to survive, played by Halsey. A good guy played by Paul Walter Hauser. The two thugs in the movie, played by Eric Dane and Kevin Wiggins, were good and intense in their roles. The leader of the Native American group, played by Zahn McClarnon, was cool. But the little boy stole the show in my opinion. He had the most to prove in the movie, and his character was hilarious.

The quest for the Lakota ghost shirt brings out the best in the worst in the characters. A lot of the characters end up doing things that you wouldn't expect based on how they were introduced. A lot of the decisions they make seem understandable based on what people do when presented a problem while having their backs against the wall. The story is presented in an interesting way, and you also get some good action through the film. There's plenty there to keep you entertained throughout the movie.

If you like classic Westerns or dramas with a good story, Americana is worth watching. The story picks up quickly and is entertaining throughout the entirety of the film. I found myself empathizing with a lot of the characters and wanting things to work out for them. There were times I got a good laugh, times I got an intense standoff, and other times I got a good old-fashioned shootout, and I enjoyed all of it. Overall, I rate the movie Americana
