Hi people! I promised to continue my review of The First Night with the Duke. If you’re reading this for the first time, you can check out part one of this review. I don’t think I have to go over the plot again right? Right! So we begin with…

Episode 7 Yeah, the answer I had been earnestly waiting for finally arrived. Cha Soen Cheak finally said she liked Yi Beon. You needed to see him glowing like someone who has just been handed a kingdom. And out of the blue, a new guy comes onto the scene. His name is Yi Gyu. (Forgive my manners, but this guy is all shades of ugly and annoying) Looking all polite but had daggers hiding under his sleeves. I think he also had a crush on Cha Seon Chaek. Then there is Yi-beon’s best friend who is secretly crushing on Eun-ae. Ahh..so many love polygons.

So we go over to Episode 8 The father of Cha Seon Chaek says “No way” and crashes the romance. Very annoying. Saying things like old alliances, blah blah. Here I saw a lot of political mess piling up. Yi-Beon’s enemies increased in numbers and the vibe between the lovebirds became so tense.

When I got to Episode 9, tragedy struck. Cha Seon Cheak got kidnapped. Nobody knew her whereabouts except for the fact that she received a letter in Yi-beon’s handwriting. Yi-Beon himself went into hero mode. He gave no heed to the rules or the king’s orders but engaged the Royal army in search of his beloved. Meanwhile, Hwa-seon (the suspect in everyone’s eyes) starts digging for the real kidnapper.

This Episode 10 is full of so many complete events happening all at once. Cha Seon Cheak is found. The perpetrator of the kidnapping kills the messenger she assigned to carry out the job. His body turns up in a well. Everyone started assuming that it’s Hwa-seon’s handwork as she has always been an enemy of Cha Seon Chaek. Yi-Beon’s rage could level a building. People started losing trust and started picking sides. It was in this state, that the drama hit its darkest point.

The movie wrapped up with Episodes 11–12 Yi-Beon was asked to go to war as part of political schemes. A few days later, word comes back that he’s dead. Cha Seon-chaek is wrecked emotionally even when she verbally says she doesn’t believe the rumors. But there was a plot twist, magic showed up(because obviously, I don’t think there was any other way out) It turns out she and her modern-world self have swapped bodies. So time had to stop for her to rewrite the ending of the story on her Laptop, after she found herself back in her room in the modern world. After rewriting the story, Yi-Beon returns alive, the bad guys eat dust, and they finally got married. The final scenes showed that they had given birth to six kids and were still head over heels for each other.

Meanwhile, back in the modern world… I see the laptop show a new notification of a new story which makes me think that maybe there is gonna be a season 2. Which I may not want to watch since I feel like there is nothing more to show. And like I said in my previous post, I’m giving this movie a 10/10.

Yesterday I sat down to watch Alien Earth episode two and Im honestly feeling pretty mixed about this whole thing, first one was ok and very similar to a lot of other movies on the franchise, the show has some decent stuff going for it but man there are so many moments that just dont make any sense that it gets really frustrating to watch, its a lot of copy pasting scenes like they had the story written but them film it on multiple scenes that then put together, I know this is how suppose to work but like they film them in an order that doesnt make much sense making the story telling a bit hard. The world building looks pretty solid with all these mega corporations running everything, the visual effects are decent enough and the cinematography has that dark sci fi vibe that works for the franchise, but when you start paying attention to the actual plot and character decisions you realize sometimes you feel dishoriented. Noah Hawley might have done great work on Fargo but this feels like he bit off way more than he could chew with the Alien universe, the writing feels sloppy and characters make decisions that are not so clever and go against basic logic or common sense which kills the immersion real quick, like for example why the hell would Cavalier let Wendy and the other kids go to the crash site, he knows he cant control them and Wendy is so experimental, that desicions is just madness.

As I mention thats the biggest problem have with this episode is how Boy Kavaliear just sends these kids on what is basically a suicide mission without any real training or preparation, these are supposed to be hybrids with supercomputer brains but they act like regular children who have never seen danger before in their lives. We are told repeatedly that these kids are smarter than regular humans because of their synthetic upgrades but then they make the dumbest possible decisions, you even see them playing and fighting like children of their age 10 to 12 years old, like when Nibs struggles to handle that little eyeball creature even though she supposedly has superhuman strength and speed, it just doesnt add up at all. Then you have Hermit using an elevator to escape the Xenomorph which somehow still works perfectly even though a massive spaceship just crashed into the building, like how does that make any physical sense, the infrastructure would be completely destroyed but apparently elevators are immune to spaceship crashes now. Wendy suddenly develops super hearing abilities out of nowhere and can hear alien chatter that nobody else can detect, there is no explanation for why she has this ability or why the other kids dont have it too, it just happens because the plot needs it to happen which is lazy writing, its a similar problem in Thunderbolts when it comes to Void powers, none are explain, he is just super powerful and there is nobody who can beat him, all out of thin air. The security camera thing is another joke where Wendy can somehow access and control cameras that have been working fine for hours while the actual rescue teams cant use them, that remind me of the movie Lucy that was heavily cretinism for this matter, she finds her brother in seconds while trained professionals have been searching for ages without any luck.

That dinner party scene with the rich British people felt completely out of place and tonally inconsistent with everything else happening in the episode, it was supposed to be funny I think it was hilarious but it just came across as awkward and forced, how they hell they didnt felt the SPACE SHIP crashing into the building??. The Xenomorph shows up and kills everyone at the party which goes against some of the movies because Im use to watch Xenomorphs capture humans alive for reproduction purposes but this one is on a speed run trying to kill everything that walks, Xenomorphs dont just go on killing sprees for no reason. But then after massacring all these people in seconds the creature suddenly decides to take its sweet time with Hermit instead of just killing him immediately, if you pay attention it goes slow with him instead of just reaping his head off or break him in half, one can argue because he didnt attack it directly but still, this inconsistent behavior feels driven by writers rather than character driven which breaks the immersion. The trained soldiers watching the Xenomorph crawl out of Morrows bag without doing anything about it was another one that had me thinking but I let this one slide, the show is also suppose to be horror sci fi so lets stay they just froze but these are supposed to be elite military soldiers but they look more like rescue soldiers. Wendy choosing to run back into the building instead of jumping down to follow the Xenomorph makes no sense either, we already saw her jump off a massive cliff without getting hurt so why not do the same thing here, it feels like the writers forgot about her abilities when it was convenient for the story, men this already feels like a rant but after a good episode one they just killing what could be great encounters between the hybrids and the Xenomorph or they just holding up for latter.

I also found from time to time accent issue with some of the kids that slightly bother me, its like some of the actor keeps switching between Indian and American pronunciations that was a bit distracting although not the end of the world. So far whats holding up the episode together is that it does feel like an Alien movie and expanding with other type of species and enhanced humans, things that they could have expand more and give more context about but we dont know any of ther abilities so far, not from cyborgs like what do we know about Morrows powers?? he can turn his arm into a welding machine, a fire arm and a machete, TF with that? they are adding great things to the Alien universe like the characters, the factions at Earth and potentially other types of Aliens but everything happens so fast that it lacks context. The whole story of sending untrained children into a dangerous rescue mission falls apart when you really think about it, even if they have enhanced physical abilities they still lack the experience and knowledge needed for this kind of operation, its basically child endangerment disguised as heroism.

Looking at the bigger picture this episode feels like it was written and film by a group of people with different people handling different scenes without communicating with each other about continuity or character consistency. There are quick peeks of what could be a really interesting show buried under all these script problems, the corporate politics angle has potential and seeing Earth get invaded by Aliens instead of everything happening in space is a fresh take on the franchise, but when characters make decisions that go against basic human nature or established rules just to move the plot forward it becomes really hard to stay focus in what happens next. The practical effects work is solid and Timothy Oliphant does his best with the material he is given but good acting and decent visuals cant save a script that treats its audience like they wont notice obvious plot holes and logical inconsistencies. Im hoping future episodes will tighten up the writing and give these characters more believable motivations because right now it feels like watching a expensive fan fiction project rather than a professional television production worthy of the Alien name, Im so disappointed on Episode 2 and at most would give it a 7/10 because the potential is there but the execution needs serious work before this show can live up to its source material.

I had been looking for something in streaming for a long time but I ended up watching something else until I finally decided, the truth is a film that does not take itself seriously and I think that's its greatest virtue, because if it had tried to be more profound or complicated it would have been a complete disaster but by staying in the territory of pure entertainment it manages to fulfill its purpose without pretending to be something it is not. Viola Davis is tremendous in her role as the president with a very strong personality and although the script gives her some lines that are kind of cheesy she delivers them with so much conviction that you believe them, I liked when she starts throwing punches all over the place with those arms that look like a bodybuilder, This woman looks fitter than most action movie actors and it shows when she snaps the neck of a guy twice her size like it's nothing, Anthony Anderson does what he can as the first gentleman although his character is more like the typical husband who is there to make occasional jokes and be the one who cares about the kids, but he has a couple of moments where he stands up for himself that are just fine. The movie is exactly what it says in the promo no more no less, an American president fighting Australian terrorists at a G20 summit that turns into a bloodbath, the fights are well done although they are nothing you haven't seen before in similar movies like Air Force One or Olympus Has Fallen, but at least they look believable and Davis moves like someone who actually knows how to fight rather than looking like an actress pretending to know martial arts I think this makes him more believable. Antony Starr as the main bad guy well although his character is pretty standard because he's the typical bad guy with a foreign accent who has some past trauma that motivates him to do terrible things, in this case it's something to do with cryptocurrencies and manipulating global markets using deepfakes of world leaders to create economic panic.

Tenía tiempo que cuando buscaba algo en streaming me llamaba la atención G20 pero al finla terminaba viendo otra cosa hasta que por fin me decidí, la verdad es una película que no se toma en serio a sí misma y creo que esa es su mayor virtud, porque es que si hubiera intentado ser mas profunda o complicada habría sido un completo desastre pero al quedarse en el territorio de puro entretenimiento logra cumplir su propósito sin pretender ser algo que no es. Viola Davis está tremenda en su papel de presidentecon una personalidad bastante fuerte y aunque el guion le da algunas líneas que son medio cursis ella las hace con tanta convicción que uno se las cree, me gustó cuando empieza a repartir golpes por todos lados con esos brazos que parecen de fisicoculturista, esta mujer se ve mas en forma que muchos actores de películas de acción y eso se nota cuando le quiebra el cuello a un tipo que le dobla el tamaño como si nada, Anthony Anderson hace lo que puede como primer caballero aunque su personaje es más como el típico esposo que está ahí para hacer chistes ocasionales y ser el que se preocupa por los niños, pero tiene un par de momentos donde se defiende que están bien. La película es exactamente lo que dice en la promoción ni mas ni menos, una presidente estadounidense peleando contra terroristas australianos en una cumbre del G20 que se convierte en un baño de sangre, las peleas están bien hechas aunque no son nada que no hayas visto antes en películas similares como Air Force One o Olympus Has Fallen, pero por lo menos se ven creibles y Davis se mueve como alguien que realmente sabe pelear en lugar de verse como una actriz fingiendo saber artes marciales creo que esto lo hace más creíble. Antony Starr como el malo principal bien aunque su personaje es bastante común porque es el típico malo con acento extranjero que tiene algún trauma del pasado que lo motiva a hacer cosas terribles, en este caso es algo relacionado con criptomonedas y manipular los mercados globales usando deepfakes de los lideres mundiales para crear pánico económico.

One thing I liked about G20 is that it doesn't try to be clever or lecture you on geopolitics or economics, it just puts a president in an impossible situation and leaves her to fend for herself however she can with her previous military training and I think that works because Davis totally sells the character, from the family scenes where she's dealing with her rebellious teenage daughter to the more intense moments where she's crawling through ventilation ducts trying to rescue the other world leaders. The pacing is pretty good, the first half hour takes its time introducing the characters and setting up the whole situation but once the action starts it doesn't stop until the end, there are some particularly good sequences like when Davis fights in the hotel kitchen using all kinds of utensils as improvised weapons, that scene is very well filmed and shows that director Patricia Riggen knows how to handle action sequences without losing sight of the characters. The special effects are good but nothing spectacular, you can tell they didn't have the budget of a blockbuster but it doesn't look cheap either, the hotel sets and the scenes in South Africa really add up and help create that atmosphere of an international conference that later becomes a war zone, Marsai Martin as Davis' daughter is fine although her character falls into the cliché of the teenage computer genius who can hack anything in seconds, but at least she is not as annoying as these characters sometimes are in other films of the genre.

Una cosa que me gustó de G20 es que no trata de ser inteligente ni de darte lecciones sobre geopolítica o economía, simplemente pone a una presidente en una situación imposible y la deja que se las arregle como pueda con su entrenamiento militar previo y creo que eso funciona porque Davis vende totalmente el personaje, desde las escenas familiares donde está lidiando con su hija adolescente rebelde hasta los momentos mas intensos donde está arrastrándose por los ductos de ventilación tratando de rescatar a los demás líderes mundiales. El ritmo es bastante bueno, la primera media hora se toma su tiempo presentando a los personajes y motando toda la situación pero una vez que empieza la acción no para hasta el final, hay algunas secuencias particularmente buenas como cuando Davis pelea en la cocina del hotel usando todo tipo de utensilios como armas improvisadas, esa escena está muy bien filmada y muestra que la directora Patricia Riggen sabe como manejar las secuencias de acción sin perder de vista a los personajes. Los efectos especiales están bien pero nada espectacular, se nota que no tenían el presupuesto de una superproducción pero tampoco se ve barata, los sets del hotel y las escenas en Sudáfrica árecen de verdad y ayudan a crear esa atmósfera de conferencia internacional que luego se convierte en zona de guerra, Marsai Martin como la hija de Davis está bien aunque su personaje cae en el cliché de la adolescente genio de la computación que puede hackear cualquier cosa en segundos, pero por lo menos no es tan fastidiosa como a veces son estos personajes en otras películas del género.

This movie handles the family part because even though Davis is the president of the United States she is also a mother and wife and she doesn't ignore that area but uses it to give more eotion to the fights, when terrorists threaten her family you really feel that Davis will do anything to protect them. The scenes between her and Anthony Anderson are natural even though the dialogue is sometimes stilted and they have good chemistry as a couple, he's not just the useless husband waiting to be rescued but he also does his part when things get ugly, he even has a great moment where he kills a terrorist to protect his kids that is very well done. The other world leaders are basically filler characters but some like the British prime minister and the IMF president have funny moments, like when they realize that the US president really knows what she is doing and decide to follow her leadership instead of panicking as it would happen in real life, Ramon Rodriguez as the secret service agent is very good, he has good chemistry with Davis and his action scenes are great, the guy moves well and seems believable as a professional bodyguard, he is the typical loyal agent that would do anything to protect his president.

Esta película maneja la parte familiar porque aunque Davis es la presidente de Estados Unidos también es madre y esposa y no ignora esa área sino que la usa para darle mas eoción a las peleas, cuando los terroristas amenazan a su familia uno realmente siente que Davis va a hacer cualquier cosa para protegerlos. Las escenas entre ella y Anthony Anderson son naturales a pesar de que el diálogo a veces es forzado y tienen buena química como pareja, él no es solo el esposo inútil esperando a ser rescatado sino que también pone de su parte cuando las cosas se ponen feas, incluso tiene un momento genial donde mata a un terrorista para proteger a sus hijos que está muy bien hecho. Los demás líderes mundiales son básicamente personajes de relleno pero algunos como el primer ministro británico y la presidenta del FMI tienen momentos divertidos, como cuando se dan cuenta que la presidente estadounidense realmente sabe lo que está haciendo y deciden seguir su liderazgo en lugar de entrar en pánico como pasaría en la vida real, Ramon Rodriguez como el agente del servicio secreto está muy bien, tiene buena química con Davis y sus escenas de acción están geniales, el tipo se mueve bien y parece creible como guardaespaldas profesional, es el típico agente leal que haría cualquier cosa por proteger a su presidente.

Now comes the bad part of G20 and it's that it's dem predictable from the first moment you know exactly how it's going to end and which characters are going to survive, there are no real surprises or any unexpected changes that make you think that maybe things could go wrong for the main characters, there are also some moments where logic is defied as when Davis manages to fight against many guys at the same time without getting a scratch, or when his daughter manages to hack super advanced security systems using basically her school laptop. Another thing is the conversations between them are pretty basic tell me the bad guy who says lines that sound like they were written by a cliché sentence generator, also there are several scenes where the characters explain things that had already happened or were obvious and the ending is too common with Davis giving the bad guy a final beating while uttering some heroic lines that sound super fabricated, but at least it's a satisfying ending where all the bad guys get their comeuppance and the family is reunited again.

Ahora viene lo malo de G20 y es que es dem predecible desde el primer momento ya sabes exactamente como va a terminar y cuáles personajes van a sobrevivir, no hay sorpresas reales ni ningún cambio inesperado que te haga pensar que tal vez las cosas podrían salir mal para los protagonistas, también hay algunos momentos donde la lógica se desafía como cuando Davis logra pelear contra muchos tipos al mismo tiempo sin recibir ni un rasguño, o cuando su hija logra hackear sistemas de seguridad súper avanzados usando básicamente su laptop del colegio. Otra cosa son las conversaciones entre ellos son bastante básicas digame el malo que dice líneas que suenan como si las hubiera escrito un generador de frases cliché, además hay varias escenas donde los personajes explican cosas que ya habían pasado o que eran obvias y el final es demasiado común con Davis dándole una paliza final al malo mientras pronuncia algunas líneas heroicas que suenan súper fabricadas, pero por lo menos es un final satisfactorio donde todos los malos reciben su merecido y la familia se reúne otra vez.

For me G20 is a movie you can watch with your family on a Sunday afternoon without having to think too much, it's just to entertain no more, the good thing is that Viola Davis is stunning and clearly had fun playing the role, her muscles and convincing attitude make you really believe that she could be a president capable of kicking ass when needed. My score for G20 is 6/10 it's an average movie that only makes you distracted for two hours so if you watch it expecting a big deal you're going to be left in disappointment, now if you want to see a president dishing out bare-knuckle justice against terrorists then I recommend it. The movie is well made technically, has good performances and fulfills its purpose as light entertainment, I think it's perfect for when you don't know what to see and want something that doesn't make you think too much, now that I think about it I saw it at the right time because if I had seen it before when I was looking for something deeper I would have left it in the middle.

Para mí G20 es una película que puedes ver con tu familia un domingo por la tarde sin tener que pensar demasiado, es solo para entretener no más, lo bueno es que Viola Davis está imponente y claramente se divirtió haciendo el papel, sus músculos y su actitud convincente hacen que uno realmente se crea que podría ser una presidente capaz de patear traseros cuando sea necesario. Mi puntuación para G20 es 6/10 es una peli común que solo te hace distraer por dos horas así que si la ves esperando una gran cosa vas a quedar en la decepción, ahora si quieres ver a una presidenta repartiendo justicia a puño limpio contra terroristas entonces te la recomiendo. La peli está bien hecha técnicamente, tiene buenas actuaciones y cumple su propósito como entretenimiento ligero, creo que es perfecta para cuando no sabes que ver y quieres algo que no te haga pensar mucho, ahora que lo pienso la vi en el momento correcto porque si la hubiese visto antes cuando buscaba algo más profundo la hubiese dejado a la mitad.

‎One look at the title of this movie and your first guess would most likely to be that it is all about a Christmas movie, but it is more than that . A Naija Christmas is a Nigerian movie released in the year 2021. It centres around a family; a single mom and her three sons. The first son—though the oldest but the unreasonable one—is an aspiring music producer, and also kind of a playboy. The second son who is kind of weird in a nerdy kind of way, and then the last born with not really much of a background info, only that he is unpredictable and completely unsuspicious. ‎ ‎It mostly circled around the love stories of this three brothers. The oldest brother, Ugo, who is a playboy but seeing himself fall madly in love with a church girl which is the last thing he would probably admit ever happening until he met Ajike. His initial purpose for establishing a relationship with her was for his own selfish gain and the only reason Ajike wanted anything to with him was because of his voluntary action to help out in the Christmas gala that was coming up for kids in the neighborhood. But his ulterior motive was unknown to Ajike. ‎ ‎Then there comes Obi. The one in love with a colleague of his who has no feelings for him at all but deceives him into thinking so all for the purpose of using him to achieve a promotion at their place of work because Obi is considered to be among the smartest in the firm. Obi is so in love with this colleague of his that he even fails to notice the one person that cares about him and always willing to stand by him. Though they were close friends but she wanted more than that between her and Obi. ‎ ‎And then there's Chike, the one with the most complicated love story. Apparently, Chike went for someone way older than him. And not only is she older than him, she is also a married woman. Yeah, a married woman. The lady just want their relationship to be based on friends with benefits but Chike it's not cool with that but desires more. Among the three brothers, it was unfortunate that his story was the only one that did not have a "...they lived together happily ever after". Well, I kinda saw it coming from the beginning because such relationship mostly people involved in such relationships hardly have a future together. ‎ ‎I loved the drama portrayed in the movie. Not to mention the comedy which landed perfectly well at the appropriate times. It's the kind of movie a family can come together and watch and would be guaranteed of having a good time. In the movie we see misunderstandings between the characters, sacrifices made out of love, people losing their way but later finding it back with other amazing features. ‎ ‎It had a typical Nigerian setting with a blend of Igbo and Yoruba culture. I was impressed with this movie and I find it what recommending to those who are yet to watch it. I give it a rating of 7.5 out of 10. ‎

The drama builds slowly, first from the grandmother's daily routine, to learning about her family relationships and certain aspects of her life that her grandson will come to know. This delves into the sorrows of the grandmother's life and how she tries to cope with them.

Ya llegado a cierto punto, vemos como el nieto, que si bien intentó sacar provecho de la situación, acaba encariñado a su familiar y comienza a dar importancia a otros aspectos de esta relación. El final es previsible y bien emotivo.

At a certain point, we see how the grandson, who initially tried to take advantage of the situation, ends up becoming fond of his relative and begins to value other aspects of this relationship. The ending is predictable and very emotional.

When I'm asked about my go-to genre in a movie, I don't blink twice before answering that question because I know my all-time go-to genre in a movie and that is "horror," yeah, you heard right. I love horror movies, though sometimes I get scared when I watch such movies at night, so what I do is never watch such movies at night, so I don't find myself running around the house in the middle of the night.

A few days back, I was bored and needed something to keep myself busy, then I realized I hadn't seen a movie in forever, even though it's just a few days. I went to my movie app and saw this movie "Together" at first I thought it was a romantic movie "now blame that on the title" then I went further into seeing the trailer and guess what "it wasn't all romantic like I thought it to be" so that alone built something in me and I was like "let's go" and my journey into the movie started.

The Plot

"Together" tells the story of Millie Brown, who got a job at an elementary school in the countryside and decided to move there with her long-time boyfriend, Tim, an aspiring musician. Shortly before they moved, their friends hosted a party to send them off when Millie proposed to Tim in the presence of her friends. Tim hesitated to respond thereby embarrassing her at the party.

While hiking in the woods, the couple fell into a cave during a rainy storm and decided to camp inside the cave till morning. Tim drank water from a pool inside the cave, and immediately he started having traumatic memories of his mother and his late father's corpse on the bed. Waking up the next morning, Tim and Millie find their legs partially stuck together, but then they dismiss the incident after separating.

After the incident when they got home, Tim started experiencing episodes where he was physically drawn to Millie, as the symptoms persisted, Tim visited a doctor who told him what he was feeling was a panic attack, but Tim was sure it wasn't a panic attack, but something else that he couldn't explain.

Tim had a gig to perform with his friends at an event, so Millie drove him to the train station, but he experienced another episode and dragged himself to Millie, who was at her school. An angry Millie confronts him inside the kids' restroom when they found themselves making out, after which their genitals got stuck. They painfully forced themselves to separate, where they were caught by Jamie, another teacher.

During the night, Tim and Millie find themselves supernaturally drawn to each other, causing their bodies to contort unnaturally. They managed to separate themselves that night using a saw. In the morning, Millie insisted that they visit a hospital, but she couldn't find her car keys when she realized she had left them at Jamie's place. She went to get the keys and asked Tim not to do anything and to wait for her in the house.

The moment Millie left the house, Tim went to the cave to look for an answer when he came across a couple who were partially fused together because they had refused the fusion at the beginning. Millie ran home after witnessing a video of a couple who accepted the fusion when she met Tim at the driveway. He told her what he saw in the cave about the couple who refused the fusion process. Tim claims he doesn't want to end up like them, the two went home and accepted the fusion process as they fuse into a singular being.

My Review Currently, I don't know where to start as I'm speechless right now. I didn't expect the movie to be this, though. From the beginning, everything seemed different till at some point I started feeling the peak of the movie.

It takes the idea of relationship to move to the next level by fusing together to become a singular being, and that really shows the term "love." The movie was incredible because it started by showing the cracks in their relationship before taking things to a horrific turn.

Now talking about the acting, it was top-notch. I haven't seen a horror movie like this, though; it ticked all my boxes for a perfect horror movie. I'm glad I saw this movie to the end, and also there was no boring scene to behold because every scene served its purpose.

I'm gonna rate this movie a 9/10, the one is for my time spent watching the movie. Images are screenshots from my phone.

When the True Story series dropped on Netflix recently, my first thought was, “Oh, another Kevin Hart comedy? Bet he’s gonna trip and fall into a situation that gets more and more ridiculous, but in a funny way.” LOL! Kevin is a master of comedy, a one-man joke factory who has made a career of being the charming, energetic sidekick or the flustered, pint-sized hero. So when I started watching this drama on Netflix, I thought, "Okay, this is going to be a little dramatic, a little seriousness to the scenes before the jokes start", but no, I was wrong!

The true story is not a comedy, but rather a completely gripping, serious, and extremely dark thriller that will make you question everything you know about Kevin Hart, and maybe even how to properly dispose of a dead body. (Disclaimer: Please do not take this as legal or practical advice. This is a joke. Or is it? You'll have to watch the show to find out how complicated the story is.) The series takes us into the life of a highly successful stand-up comedian and actor named "The Kid", this is the character played by Kevin and at times in the story, it feels like this is actually a true story and that too of Kevin.

The plot is pretty simple: The Kid is on a comedy tour in his hometown of Philadelphia, where he's basking in the glow of a billion-dollar superhero movie deal. But his success and happiness are overshadowed by his older, spoiled brother Carlton, played with a fierce intensity by Wesley Snipes. After a night of partying that starts things off the rails, The Kid finds himself in a hotel room with a dead woman. From there, the show becomes a masterclass in how not to handle a crisis like this. A little spoiler, I had a strong feeling from the night of the party that The Kid's brother was the one framing it.

Well, instead of calling the police or even a lawyer after being in a hotel room with a dead woman, the two brothers panic. This is where the humour, or at least the dark irony, comes in. You're watching these two grown men, one a superstar and the other a walking burden, make a series of ridiculous decisions that turn into a full-blown crime saga that involves goons, blackmail, and a fanbase and overly devoted supporters, most notably Kid's team members, including his manager and bodyguard. Although he does do something very strange at the end of the series, Kid probably wanted the same thing because if he had shared everything with his bodyguard at the beginning, the problems would have been a lot less.

Let's talk about the performances, because this is where this series really shines. Kevin Hart completely breaks out of his comedic roots and proves himself capable of a completely different kind of role. He has a knack for the dramatic, and the audience knows that very well. In this series, you will see a side of him that you have never seen before: not the funny, restless guy who screams his way out of a difficult situation, but a man who is genuinely scared that all the fame, money and love he has earned over the years will be lost. It's not just a pretence of being scared; you can feel the fear, the desperation and the inner struggle of a man whose hard-earned life is falling apart with every bad decision he makes. But apart from Kid, the other actors in this series also give strong performances, such as Kid's brother, his manager, bodyguard, a die-hard obsessive fan and the villains. You don’t watch this series to find out what happens next; you watch to see how the characters react, and what new and terrible decisions they will make that will dig themselves into an even deeper hole.

Ultimately, True Story is a thrilling ride. It's a strong statement from Kevin Hart that he's not just a comedian, but a serious actor as well. Those who, like me, came in expecting to see Kevin's comedy will be pleasantly surprised by this thriller. It's a show that forces you to confront the dark side of fame and family, while reminding you that sometimes, a "true story" is something else altogether.

The movie is shown in the beginning, it is raining early in the morning, a man is sitting inside a car, several people are sitting outside a company waiting for someone, that man gets out of the car, that is the main character of this movie, that is the hero of this movie. He is the manager of this project. Meanwhile, everyone joins and discusses with the above officials about the work. Two people start misbehaving with a laborer, then the hero comes and obeys them, but listens to his prohibition. No, as soon as the hero attacks them. This is how the movie starts, the director has presented it very nicely in the beginning, you will like it from the beginning. It started very naively.

You will get the real fun of the movie from the time you watch the first 15-20 minutes of this movie, and you will understand the main story of this movie from when you start enjoying this movie. I especially like the ending of this movie. The kind of action scene shown at the finish is amazing.

J'avais dans la tête de regarder un autre film, mais il était temporairement indisponible. Pour ne pas perdre trop de temps à choisir, nous avons opté pour ce film russe qui parlait de portail dans le résumé.

Il dure 1h38 et se classe dans les catégories action, aventure, drame.

Synopsis :

L'histoire commence à l'heure actuelle, en Russie, près de la Neva. Une société extrait du sable d'une carrière, mais un couple s'est allongé devant le premier camion pour l'empêcher d'avancer. Ce couple veut terminer des fouilles dans un ancien abri qui date de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et plus précisément du siège de Leningrad.

Ce couple ne demande qu'un petit délai pour emporter des objets et autres témoignages de l'époque. Le responsable de la société, Mikael Shurov, arrive sur place et décide d'aller discuter avec la femme qui lui plaît bien. Elle ira lui montrer le lieu des découvertes. Mikael Shurov avait convenu d'un signe avec le camionneur pour provoquer un accident.

Malheureusement, il y a eu un quiproquo entre le camionneur et Mikael. L'accident a eu lieu. La femme se retrouve à l'hôpital et Mikael va vivre le siège de Leningrad, par épisodes.

Mon avis et petites infos :

Nous avons laissé une chance à ce film russe, en le regardant jusqu'au bout. On a déjà été agréablement surpris par des films et séries russes, mais pas ce coup-ci.

Nous nous sommes plusieurs fois demandés ce qu'ils avaient fumé, c'est dire ! Il y a bien un fil conducteur, mais c'est assez tordu comme histoire.

Bon, on s'en doutait, mais ça nous a confirmé que la vie était très dure pendant la guerre, surtout dans ces contrées très froides. La Neva était gelée en grande partie, trop fragile pour la traverser à pied et difficile à traverser avec une barque où il fallait slalomer entre les morceaux de glace et les tirs de l'ennemi.

Je ne connais pas les acteurs russes.

Je vous ai parlé de portail en début d'article, ce qui indique du voyage dans le temps, en 1941-44 en l'occurrence. C'est toujours délicat de voyager dans le temps, car nous pourrions, volontairement ou non, modifier l'une ou l'autre chose, ce qui aurait un énorme impact sur le présent.

A steady diet of CSI and its early 21st-century progeny – slick, technologically fetishistic police procedurals – fostered a dangerously pervasive myth: that American law enforcement operates with near-superhuman efficiency, armed with futuristic tools capable of effortlessly unravelling complex crimes. This glossy fiction painted a picture of omnipotent, morally unambiguous heroes operating within a frictionless system, profoundly distorting public perception of the gritty, resource-starved, and politically compromised reality of policing, particularly in struggling urban centres like Baltimore. The Wire, from its inception, served as a potent and necessary antidote to this delusion, meticulously dismantling the fantasy. Nowhere is this corrective vision more starkly, brilliantly realised than in its second episode, The Detail, which lays bare the Baltimore Police Department’s systemic impotence, forced to combat powerful criminal organisations like Avon Barksdale’s with one, often two, hands firmly tied behind its back by bureaucracy, politics, and its own internal rot.

This institutional emasculation is immediately and viscerally established through Lieutenant Cedric Daniels’ appointment to lead the nascent Barksdale detail. Far from the gleaming command centres of network television, Daniels finds his task force consigned to a damp, water-stained concrete basement devoid of basic furnishings and woefully lacking essential equipment. The human resources allocated to him are equally deficient. He inherits a roster of compromised officers: alcoholics, retirees clinging to pensions, and personnel manifestly unqualified for such a high-stakes investigation. The arrival of Officer Roland “Prez” Pryzbylewski (Jim True-Frost) epitomises the department’s dysfunction. Prez, whose incompetence is swiftly demonstrated when he accidentally discharges his weapon during a safety demonstration for colleagues, poses a genuine danger. His retention, solely due to influential family connections within the department, forces Daniels into a pragmatic but demoralising compromise: bolstering the detail with the quietly competent Detective Leander Sydnor (Corey Parker-Robinson), a necessary counterbalance to the political dead weight.

Prez’s recklessness escalates catastrophically. Succumbing to peer pressure and alcohol alongside Daniels’ original detectives, Ellis Carver (Seth Gilliam) and Thomas “Herc” Hauk (Dominic Lombardozzi), Prez participates in an ill-conceived, late-night raid on the Barksdale drug market at the Franklin terraces. What begins as a drunken whim ignites a small riot. In a moment of brutal, unprovoked violence, Prez pistol-whips a 14-year-old boy over a minor verbal exchange, an act that ultimately costs the teenager his eye. Daniels, fully cognisant of the trio’s culpability in instigating the chaos and the severity of Prez’s assault, makes a chilling decision. Instead of upholding the law, he actively coaches Carver, Herc, and Prez on fabricating a false alibi for the Internal Investigation Division (IID), prioritising departmental protection and political expediency over accountability and justice. Meanwhile, the investigation into the murder of William Gant, a potential witness against D'Angelo Barksdale, unfolds with its own set of distortions. Detective Bunk Moreland, methodical and less prone to McNulty’s obsessive leaps, harbours legitimate doubts about an immediate Barksdale connection. However, the department’s leadership, personified by the politically attuned Deputy Commissioner Ervin Burrell (Frankie Faison), actively hopes the killing is unrelated. A witness murder would jeopardise the already fragile prosecution against Barksdale in a city crippled by budget constraints – optics and fiscal pragmatism outweigh the pursuit of truth. When The Baltimore Sun publishes the story, exposing the witness killing, it triggers a crisis of trust. McNulty, ever the volatile maverick, immediately suspects Judge Phelan leaked the information, straining their relationship and highlighting how media exposure becomes another weapon in the political skirmishes that define the department’s priorities.

The episode’s masterstroke, however, lies in the psychological warfare waged against D'Angelo Barksdale (Larry Gilliard Jr.). McNulty and Bunk, leveraging their formidable skills honed in homicide, stage a very public "fishing expedition," arresting D'Angelo on flimsy charges and dragging him from the open-air drug market of The Pit. In the interrogation room, they deploy a devastatingly effective tactic: appealing to a flicker of conscience. By framing Gant as a "working man," a "civilian," and inventing a poignant backstory involving fictional children, they manipulate D'Angelo into drafting an apology letter. The Detail exemplifies The Wire’s exceptional writing, allowing the plot to unfold with organic momentum through sharp, naturalistic dialogue that avoids clunky exposition. David Simon astutely constructs the portrait of police dysfunction not just through the physical squalor of the basement detail and the incompetence of its personnel, but crucially through the political calculus of its superiors. Conversations drip with concern for media narratives and budgetary optics, revealing a leadership utterly detached from the core mission of crime-fighting. Prez’s transformation from bumbling liability into a brutal assailant, pistol-whipping a minor with impunity, starkly illustrates how the system enables and protects toxic behaviour, adding fuel to the community’s justified resentment.

Surprisingly, glimmers of humanity pierce the pervasive cynicism. Bubbles (Andre Royo), despite his devastating addiction, demonstrates remarkable ingenuity in aiding Kima Greggs’ investigation, offering a fragile lifeline of cooperation. D'Angelo’s palpable distress over Gant’s death and his near-defection find a plausible catalyst in the introduction of Donette (Shamyl Brown), his girlfriend and the mother of his son. This domestic anchor makes Gant’s "fictional children" resonate, providing a crucial emotional context for his momentary moral crisis – a rare instance where the show suggests personal connection might fracture the organisation’s hold.

Simon, however, steadfastly refuses to offer comforting heroes. The nominal protagonist, Jimmy McNulty, is portrayed early on as a deeply flawed, often pathetic drunk, his brilliance obscured by self-destructive tendencies. Even Daniels, positioned as the detail’s moral compass, is fatally compromised. His pragmatic coaching of the false alibi for Prez, Carver, and Herc – an act condoning serious criminal assault and perjury with potentially catastrophic consequences for the department and the victim – is not a lapse but a chillingly rational calculation within the broken system he serves. This refusal to sanitise its protagonists is The Wire’s greatest strength and its most devastating critique.

Finally, The Detail achieved unexpected cultural resonance through the now-iconic "Chicken McNugget" scene. Originally written for Homicide: Life on the Street episode Bop Gun, it features D'Angelo, Wallace (a young Michael B. Jordan), and other Pit dealers debating whether the inventor of the Chicken McNugget became wealthy. D'Angelo, perhaps reflecting his own demotion within the Barksdale hierarchy, cynically posits the inventor remained a low-paid corporate cog. In reality, Herb Lotman, the actual innovator, became a food industry magnate. Yet, The Wire’s immense popularity has likely cemented D'Angelo’s fictionalised, pessimistic narrative as a 21st-century urban legend – a fittingly ironic footnote for an episode so concerned with the chasm between perception and reality, between the glossy myths of power and the grim, constrained truth of institutional failure. The Detail doesn’t just tell a story; it performs an autopsy on the American urban policing myth, revealing the rot long before the fantasy had even fully solidified, proving itself the essential antidote the genre desperately needed.
