Although I love anime, I'm not one to watch or read many recommendations about it. Every now and then I do so to find out which good anime I can choose without fear of wasting my time, but sometimes I just choose something and that's it. Surprisingly, even though I saw this anime months ago, I hadn't realized that I hadn't shared a review of it. I really liked it, so I'm looking forward to its third season.
Jujutsu Kaisen
This anime tells the story of teenager Yuji Itadori, whose only living relative is his hospitalized grandfather, who dies before he can give him details about his parents because the young man doesn't seem very interested in knowing about them. But what does remain etched in his mind is what his grandfather told him: Yuji, you are very strong. Use that strength to help others, at least those closest to you.
Before his grandfather's death, Yuji and his occult club friends agreed to uncover a talisman that night at school. That talisman turns out to be a finger that brought curses to the school, which want to kill those who have the finger and keep it for themselves, Since it belonged to a dangerous curse, Yuji meets Megumi Fushiguro and Saturo Gojo, who come to the rescue. In the midst of the chaos, Yuji decides to swallow the finger, which turns him into the vessel Ryōmen Sukuna, to whom the finger belonged, to everyone's amazement. Yuji has the strength to control Sukuna, so he ends up becoming a shaman and studying at the Tokyo School of Sorcery.
Now, this anime presents us with a world that is normal in theory, but where all human beings emanate an energy called Cursed Energy, which comes from their negative emotions. Since they do not know how to control them, curses arise, and only shamans, of whom there are not many left, are able to control this energy and fight against these curses.
One of the strengths of this anime is that it presents us with a world of magic hidden in plain sight, where shamans use their powers to defend humanity without it knowing of their existence. It also shows us the rivalries that can arise between shamans because of their clans, power, or simply because they are unable to reach an agreement.
Each character has a unique power that can be inherited from their clans, as in the case of Saturo, who has six eyes, a hereditary visual ability exclusive to the Gojo clan, which allows its bearer to perceive cursed energy in extreme detail. Similarly, the young Megumi has inherited the Ten-Type Shadow Technique, unique to the Zenin clan, but does not bear the surname, as his father, who hated his clan, decided to change his surname to that of his wife.
In Jujutsu Kaisen, we see the characters develop as they gradually reveal the complicated relationships between some of these clans, where members who do not meet the standards desired by the heads of the family are cast aside and despised.
As for the anime's narrative, it constantly introduces new elements, revealing relationships, powers, intrigues, and more, which makes it extremely interesting. Some of the stories presented are even moving, and I personally feel that there are no gaps in the plot.
A vital aspect of any anime is its animation, and here we are presented with high-quality animation, especially in the action scenes or sequences, which makes you feel immersed in each battle as you watch.
Another point in its favor is its spectacular opening, especially the song from the second season, which is very good, and the animation created around it is detailed. I couldn't stop watching this opening, which is the one that has featured the most battles so far and is full of emotion in everything that happens in it.
Among the characters in this anime, the ones that stand out for me are Yuji Itadori, Saturo Gojo, Megumi Fushiguro, Sukuna, Mahito, Toge Inumaki, and Kento Nanami, the latter being a mentor who leaves a strong impression on Yuji and, I think, on all of us who saw him fight.
There are still many seasons or arcs to be brought to the screen, but what we have seen so far in its two seasons and the movie has immersed us in an interesting universe that we want to know more and more about after the epic finale of its second season. It is said that its third season will premiere in 2025, but so far there is no date or certainty that this will be the case. However, fans of this anime are definitely looking forward to seeing this arc. I give this anime an 8.5 out of 10 for its interesting characters, attractive and eye-catching combat system, excellent narrative, complex themes such as death, and excellent animation and music.

Aunque amo el anime, no soy de las que ve o lee muchas sugerencias al respecto de vez en cuando lo hago para saber que animes buenos puedo elegir sin temor a encontrarme con alguno que me haga perder el tiempo, pero a veces elijo algo y ya, sorprendentemente aunque hace meses vi este anime no me había dado cuenta de que no había compartido una reseña del mismo, la verdad me gustó mucho, así que espero con ansias su tercera temporada.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Este anime nos narra la vida del adolescente Yuji Itadori cuyo único familiar con vida es su abuelo hospitalizado, quien muere antes de poder darle detalles de sus padres porque el joven parece no estar muy interesado en saber de ellos, pero lo que si le queda grabado en su mente es el que su abuelo le dijo: Yuji. Eres muy fuerte. Usa esa fuerza para ayudar a los demás, al menos a los más cercanos.
Previamente a la muerte de su abuelo Yuji junto a sus compañeros del club de ocultismo quedaron en destapar un talismán esa noche en la escuela, ese talismán resulta ser un dedo que atrajo maldiciones a la escuela, las cuales desean matar a quienes tienen el dedo y quedarse con este, ya que pertenecía a una peligrosa maldición, así Yuji conoce a Megumi Fushiguro y Saturo Gojo quienes llegan al rescate y en medio del caos Yuji decide tragarse el dedo, lo que le hace convertirse en el recipiente Ryōmen Sukuna, a quien el dedo pertenecía, para asombro de todos, Yuji tiene la fuerza para controlar a Sukuna por lo que termina convirtiéndose en chaman y estudiando en la escuela de hechicería de Tokyo.
Ahora bien, este anime nos presenta un mundo en teoría normal, pero donde todos los seres humanos emanan una energía llamada Energía Maldita, esta proviene de sus emociones negativas y al no saber controlarlas, surgen maldiciones y solo los chamanes, de los cuales, ya no hay muchos, son capaces de controlar esta energía y de luchar contra estas maldiciones.
Uno de los puntos fuertes de este anime es que nos presenta un mundo de magia oculto a plena vista, donde los chamanes recurren a sus poderes para defender a la humanidad sin que esta sepa de su existencia, también nos presenta las rivalidades que pueden surgir entre los chamanes por sus clanes, poder o simplemente por no ser capaces de llegar a un acuerdo.
Cada personaje tiene un poder único., el cual puede ser heredado de sus clanes como es el caso de Saturo quien posee los seis ojos, una habilidad visual hereditaria exclusiva del clan Gojo, que permite a su portador percibir la energía maldita con un detalle extremo, así mismo el joven Megumi, quien ha heredado la fécnica de Sombras de Diez Tipos, propia del clan Zenin, pero no lleva el apellido, ya que su padre al odiar su clan, decido cambiar su apellido por el de su esposa.
En jujutsu Kaisen, se nota un desarrollo de los personajes donde nos van mostrando poco a poco las complicadas relaciones de algunos de estos clanes, donde si los miembros no poseen los estándares deseados por las cabezas de familia son apartados y despreciados.
En cuanto a la narrativa del anime, nos presenta cada vez un nuevo elemento descubriendo relaciones, poderes, intrigas y más lo que lo hace sumamente interesante, incluso llega a conmover por alguna de las historias que presentan y en lo particular me parece que no hay huecos en la trama.
Un punto vital en un anime es su animación y aquí nos presenta uno de calidad, sobre todo en las escenas o secuencias de acción, lo que hace que al ver cada batalla uno se sumerja en ellas.
Otro punto a su favor son sus espectaculares opening, en especial el de su segunda temporada la canción, es muy buena y la aminación que crearon en torno a la misma es detallada, yo no dejaba de ver este opening que es la que hasta ahora más batallas presenta y está cargada de sentimientos en todo lo que en ella ocurre.
Entre los personajes de este anime para mí destacan Yuji itadori, Saturo Gojo, Megumi Fushiguro, Sukuna, Mahito, Toge Inumaki y Kento Nanami, este ultimo un mentor que deja una fuerte impresión de Yuji y creo que en todos los que le vimos luchar.
Faltan muchas temporadas o arcos por llevar la pantalla, pero lo visto hasta ahora en sus dos temporadas y la película nos ha sumergido en un universo interesante del que deseamos saber más y más después del épico final de su segunda temporada, se dice que su tercera temporada se estrenaría este 2025, pero hasta el momento no hay una fecha o seguridad de que así sea, pero sin duda los fans de este anime deseamos ver este arco, yo le doy a esta anime un 8,5 de 10, por ser un anime con personajes interesantes, un sistema de combate atractivo y llamativo, excelente narrativa, tocar temas complejos como la muerte una excelente animación y música.

It's not an anime that's easily digestible; in fact, I'd go so far as to say it's a work that demands a considerable intellectual and emotional investment from the viewer. From the very first moment, its oppressive atmosphere and enigmatic narrative captivated me, inviting me on an inner journey through a bleak post-apocalyptic world.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, como una mente curiosa y apasionada por la ciencia ficción y la filosofía, mi encuentro con Ergo Proxy fue una experiencia que me dejó profundamente marcado. No es un anime que se digiera fácilmente; de hecho, me atrevería a decir que es una obra que exige al espectador una inversión intelectual y emocional considerable. Desde el primer instante, su atmósfera opresiva y su narrativa enigmática me atraparon, invitándome a un viaje interior a través de un mundo post-apocalíptico desolador.
The story of Ergo Proxy unfolds in Romdeau, a utopian city protected by a dome, where humans coexist with androids called AutoReivs. The initial premise seemed intriguing to me: the emergence of the "Awakening of Reason," a virus that grants consciousness to the AutoReivs, unleashing chaos and jeopardizing the apparent perfection of this society. However, what really hooked me was the introduction of Re-l Mayer, an inspector from the Intelligence Bureau who, despite her privileged position, feels a deep existential void. Her voiceover, full of cynicism and melancholy, was the perfect guide to delve into a mystery that, little by little, revealed itself to be much more complex than I imagined.
La historia de Ergo Proxy se desenvuelve en Romdeau, una ciudad utópica protegida por una cúpula, donde los humanos coexisten con androides llamados AutoReivs. La premisa inicial me pareció intrigante: la aparición del "Despertar de la Razón", un virus que otorga conciencia a los AutoReivs, desata el caos y pone en jaque la aparente perfección de esta sociedad. The beings that most caught my attention were the "Proxies," entities created by humans thousands of years ago during a global ecological catastrophe known as the "Migration." Each Proxy was designed to be an "agent" or "administrator" of a specific area, overseeing the process of the planet's reclamation and, eventually, the creation of new human civilizations under domes. They are immortal and virtually indestructible beings, possessing extraordinary strength and abilities, including the ability to manipulate matter and energy at a fundamental level. Their appearance is that of a human, but they can reveal their true form, which is often more monstrous or ethereal, when they utilize their powers or when their true nature is exposed.
Los seres que más llamaron mi atención fueron los "Proxys", entidades creadas por los humanos hace miles de años, durante una catástrofe ecológica global conocida como la "Migración". Su función principal era terraformar la Tierra, que había quedado inhabitable, y crear un entorno adecuado para el regreso de la humanidad. Cada Proxy fue diseñado para ser un "agente" o "administrador" de un área específica, supervisando el proceso de recuperación del planeta y, eventualmente, la creación de nuevas civilizaciones humanas bajo cúpulas. Son seres inmortales y virtualmente indestructibles, poseedores de una fuerza y habilidades extraordinarias, incluyendo la capacidad de manipular la materia y la energía a un nivel fundamental. The main characters of Ergo Proxy are, without a doubt, its heart. Re-l Mayer is a fascinating protagonist; her skepticism, intelligence, and constant search for the truth, despite the danger, reminded me of the great detectives of literature. But beyond her investigative side, her vulnerability and desperation to find meaning in her existence made her incredibly human. Vincent Law, on the other hand, is the antithesis. A tormented character, riddled with guilt and with a nebulous past. His journey is one of self-discovery and redemption, and his struggle to accept his true nature is the emotional driving force of the series.
Los personajes principales de Ergo Proxy son, sin duda, su corazón. Re-l Mayer es una protagonista fascinante, su escepticismo, su inteligencia y su constante búsqueda de la verdad, a pesar del peligro, me recordaron a los grandes detectives de la literatura. Pero más allá de su faceta investigadora, su vulnerabilidad y su desesperación por encontrar un sentido a su existencia la hicieron increíblemente humana. Vincent Law, por otro lado, es la antítesis. Pino, Vincent's little AutoReiv companion, was my ray of light in such a bleak world. Her innocence, her childlike curiosity, and her evolution as she gains consciousness are touching. She represents hope, the ability to find beauty and wonder even in the most bleak environment. It is through her eyes that we are often presented with a necessary contrast to the existential darkness of the other characters.
Pino, la pequeña AutoReiv compañera de Vincent, fue mi rayo de luz en un mundo tan sombrío. Su inocencia, su curiosidad infantil y su evolución a medida que adquiere conciencia son conmovedoras. The story's style is a masterful blend of cyberpunk, noir, and existentialist philosophy. Ergo Proxy isn't afraid to ask profound questions about identity, memory, the nature of consciousness, and the purpose of life. The references to Western philosophy, especially thinkers like Lacan, are subtle yet enriching, inviting me to reflect beyond what is presented on screen.
La animación de Ergo Proxy es, sencillamente, excepcional, por ejemplo los tonos oscuros, la paleta de colores apagados y el diseño detallado de los entornos contribuyen a crear una atmósfera gótica y distópica que me envolvió por completo. Las escenas de acción, aunque no abundantes, son impactantes y bien coreografiadas, pero es en los momentos de quietud, en los acercamientos de los rostros y en la expresividad de los ojos de los personajes donde la animación realmente brilla. It's not for those looking for constant action or easy answers; it requires patience and an open mind. But the rewards will undoubtedly be great. Ergo Proxy is, for me, a masterpiece of animation, an anime that elevates the genre to an art form and that has undoubtedly earned a permanent place on my list of favorites. This work of art is about to turn 20 years old, so I invite you to watch it. Both the story and the animation have aged very well; you won't regret it.
Mi recomendación para ver Ergo Proxy es enfática: si eres un amante de la ciencia ficción que busca algo más que entretenimiento superficial, si te gustan las historias que te desafían a pensar, que te invitan a explorar los rincones más oscuros de la psique humana y las grandes preguntas de la existencia, entonces esta es tu serie. No es para aquellos que buscan acción constante o respuestas fáciles, requiere paciencia y una mente abierta. Pero la recompensa sin duda será grandiosa para ti, Ergo Proxy es, para mí, una obra maestra de la animación, un anime que eleva el género a una forma de arte y que, sin duda, se ha ganado un lugar permanente en mi lista de favoritos. Está por cumplir 20 años esta obra de arte, así que te invito a verla, tanto en historia como animación ha envejecido muy bien, no te arrepentiras.

Saludos mis Otakus favoritos de #TheAnimeRealm espero que estén disfrutando de lo que resta de su fin de semana para iniciar activadísimos la primera semana oficial de agosto. Hoy les traigo mi opinión sobre una serie a la cual le di una oportunidad hace poco y de la cual todos están hablando en este momento. Se trata de DanDaDan.
Cabe destacar que la vi en su idioma original con subtítulos en español y desde el teléfono. Tal vez no fue la mejor opción para hacerlo pero la verdad es que en ese preciso momento necesitaba ver algo diferente y al escuchar hablar de esta serie que mezcla Extraterrestres, Fantasmas y.… ¿Amor?, al ver esta trama tan peculiar, tuve que darle una oportunidad.
Menos mal que no la vi antes porque hubiera quedado muy desesperada para esperar un año entero y ver su segunda temporada que ya está en emisión actualmente. Esta pretendo empezarla a ver apenas termine la segunda temporada de Mi Feliz Matrimonio.
Lo que más me gustó de esta serie fue su mezcla con sentido de terror y diversión al mismo tiempo agregando toques de chistes pervertidos o que se dejan malinterpretar para darle un doble sentido. Esto para mí fue una joya. Nunca había visto un animé que balanceara tan espectacular el tema entre el miedo, la perversión y lo gracioso.
Dandadan cuenta la historia de Ken 'Okarun' Takakura y su inesperada relación "amistosa" con Momo Ayase. A uno le encanta hablar sobre los temas de alienígenas mientras que a la chica le atrae el tema de lo sobrenatural y fantasmagórico. ¿Vaya pareja no? Pues de entrada me identifiqué con Okarun.
Su historia personal me recordó mucho a la mía, no tanto durante mi infancia sino actualmente. Esto porque ¿Amigos? tengo tan pocos que los cuento con los dedos de una mano y me sobran dedos. Así que en este aspecto Okarun y yo somos iguales, al igual que su doble personalidad a quien Le Pega la Depre.
Esta frase me resultó una de las más graciosas, y me causó mucha impresión de la buena ya que al verlo transformado en esta especie de entidad sobrenatural, que hiciera tanto hincapié sobre estar deprimido teniendo superpoderes de otro plano, fue algo inesperado.
En cuanto a Turbo Abuela, la amé por su perversión y por la interacción tan improvisada que tuvo con Okarun. Esa primera escena entre ellos fue una de las mejores. Pero la serie no sólo se enfoca en presentar diferentes tipos de relaciones entre los personajes (muy bien desarrollados por cierto), sino que va más allá.
En esta serie todo es relevante y cuando digo todo, es TODO. Me explico. La trama, llama la atención porque al sonar tan bizarra está hecha de manera espectacular en todos sus aspectos, desde el diálogo hasta las escenas de pelea y acción. Los personajes cuentan con mucha esencia, cada uno tiene su peculiaridad que lo hace tener peso en la historia y ¿sus diseños? es la cereza del pastel, es arte en movimiento.
Otro aspecto que me gustó mucho de la serie es la música de Intro y su Ending. Van acorde al ritmo de la serie y el Opening en sí, me gusta mucho porque muestra una pequeña introducción de lo que está por venir pero al final la serie resulta tan alocada que es difícil de predecir. Uno no sabe si pasará algo grave y terrorífico o extrañamente gracioso a tal punto de hacerte reír a carcajadas.
Esta serie resultó ser toda una Joya y me encanta por todos los toques y detalles artísticos que le dan a cada episodio y a cada escena. Y aunque suene extraño, también tiene escenas románticas que le roban el corazón a cualquiera. Yo por mi parte soy Team Okarun - Momo ¿y ustedes? De mi parte la super recomiendo para que te relajes a través de la risa y le doy sus bien merecidas:

Greetings, my favorite Otakus from #TheAnimeRealm. I hope you are enjoying the rest of your weekend so you can start the first official week of August full of energy. Today I bring you my opinion on a series that I recently gave a chance to and that everyone is talking about right now. It's called DanDaDan.
It's worth noting that I watched it in its original language with Spanish subtitles on my phone. Maybe it wasn't the best option, but the truth is that at that precise moment I needed to watch something different, and when I heard about this series that mixes aliens, ghosts, and... love?, seeing such a peculiar plot, I had to give it a try.
Thankfully, I didn't watch it earlier because I would have been desperate to wait a whole year to see the second season, which is currently airing. I plan to start watching it as soon as I finish the second season of My Happy Marriage.
What I liked most about this series was its blend of horror and fun, with touches of perverted jokes or ones that can be misinterpreted to give them a double meaning. For me, this was a gem. I had never seen an anime that balanced the themes of fear, perversion, and humor so spectacularly.
Dandadan tells the story of Ken ‘Okarun’ Takakura and his unexpected “friendly” relationship with Momo Ayase. He loves to talk about aliens, while she is attracted to the supernatural and ghostly. What a couple, right? Well, from the start, I identified with Okarun.
His personal story reminded me a lot of my own, not so much during my childhood but now. This is because I have so few friends that I can count them on one hand and still have fingers left over. So in this respect, Okarun and I are the same, as is his split personality who Le Pega la Depre (gets depressed).
This phrase struck me as one of the funniest, and it made a big impression on me because seeing him transformed into this kind of supernatural entity, who placed so much emphasis on being depressed despite having superpowers from another plane, was something unexpected.
As for Turbo-Granny, I loved her for her perversity and for her improvised interaction with Okarun. That first scene between them was one of the best. But the series doesn't just focus on presenting different types of relationships between the characters (which are very well developed, by the way), it goes further.
In this series, everything is relevant, and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Let me explain. The plot is striking because, despite sounding so bizarre, it is spectacularly crafted in every aspect, from the dialogue to the fight and action scenes. The characters are full of essence, each with their own peculiarities that give them weight in the story, and their designs? They are the icing on the cake, art in motion.
Another aspect that I really liked about the series is the intro and ending music. They match the rhythm of the series and the opening itself. I really like it because it gives a little preview of what's to come, but in the end, the series is so crazy that it's hard to predict. You don't know if something serious and terrifying will happen or something strangely funny that will make you laugh out loud.
This series turned out to be a real gem, and I love all the artistic touches and details in each episode and scene. And although it may sound strange, it also has romantic scenes that will steal anyone's heart. I'm Team Okarun - Momo, how about you? I highly recommend it for a relaxing laugh, and I give it its well-deserved:
When I think about movies that easily relax me, I could rattle off a very long list of projects that manage to do so. However, I would be quite unfair (especially given the theme of this new edition of the competition) to mention only a single title, because the topic is too broad for me to complete this "mission." Therefore, for the first time, I need to broaden my choices, and all of them focus on the feature movies of Studio Ghibli, for which I have had enormous appreciation and genuine admiration since their first movie.
I find it difficult to even try to categorize all the qualities present in this studio's movies, but I can't help but mention a few that "hook" me in any movie project they release. The first is how the themes they address (which at first glance may seem too simple) tend to capture my attention almost immediately. What begins as a trivial atmosphere soon becomes something very substantial and full of relevant meaning. A work done by highly competent screenwriters.
Another aspect is how the chosen directors handle the material they're given. I can't recall (if there ever was one) a movie that was directed in the slightest disappointing way. Everything that was made was very well directed (especially by my favorite director from the studio, the fantastic Hayao Miyazaki, who is also a phenomenal screenwriter) and certainly has the power to inspire other filmmakers to do the same (or at least have some basis for creating something new from what has already been done), just as it can inspire the audience.
Other aspects relate to the technical aspects that are responsible for bringing to life memorable characters full of psychologically interesting layers. Highly vibrant colors (even when used in the most bucolic or sad scenes, this aspect is highly valued to bring more weight to the events), striking lines (which make the existence of not only the characters, but the settings and everything that is part of them faithful) and last (but not least), the soundtracks, which always move me with their richness of detail.
Studio Ghibli is the brainchild of directors Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and producer Toshio Suzuki. Their projects have gained notable worldwide recognition as they've become a benchmark for quality and exploded onto the movie market. The power this studio's projects carry is hauntingly magical, relaxing, immersive, powerful, and thought-provoking. I love how they consistently deliver something of the highest quality, and they make me love movies (especially animated movies).

Cuando pienso en películas que me relajan fácilmente, podría enumerar una larga lista de proyectos que lo consiguen. Sin embargo, sería bastante injusto (sobre todo teniendo en cuenta la temática de esta nueva edición del concurso) mencionar solo un título, ya que el tema es demasiado amplio como para que pueda completar esta "misión". Por lo tanto, por primera vez, necesito ampliar mis opciones, y todas se centran en los largometrajes de Studio Ghibli, por los que he sentido un enorme aprecio y una genuina admiración desde su primera película.
Me resulta difícil siquiera intentar categorizar todas las cualidades presentes en las películas de este estudio, pero no puedo evitar mencionar algunas que me enganchan en cualquier proyecto cinematográfico que estrenan. La primera es cómo los temas que abordan (que a primera vista pueden parecer demasiado simples) tienden a captar mi atención casi de inmediato. Lo que comienza como una atmósfera trivial pronto se convierte en algo muy sustancial y lleno de significado relevante. Un trabajo realizado por guionistas altamente competentes.
Otro aspecto es cómo los directores elegidos gestionan el material que se les proporciona. No recuerdo (si es que alguna vez hubo alguna) una película dirigida de forma ni remotamente decepcionante. Todo lo realizado estuvo muy bien dirigido (especialmente por mi director favorito del estudio, el fantástico Hayao Miyazaki, quien también es un guionista fenomenal) y sin duda tiene el poder de inspirar a otros cineastas a hacer lo mismo (o al menos tener una base para crear algo nuevo a partir de lo ya hecho), así como al público.
Otros aspectos se relacionan con los aspectos técnicos, responsables de dar vida a personajes memorables llenos de matices psicológicamente interesantes. Colores vibrantes (incluso cuando se usan en las escenas más bucólicas o tristes, este aspecto es muy valorado para dar más peso a los acontecimientos), líneas impactantes (que hacen que la existencia no solo de los personajes, sino también de los escenarios y todo lo que los compone sea fiel) y, por último (pero no menos importante), las bandas sonoras, que siempre me conmueven con su riqueza de detalles.

Concurso CineTV: Studio Ghibli, uma fonte de prazer cinematográfico inesgotável.
Quando eu penso sobre os filmes que facilmente me relaxam, eu poderia mencionar uma lista muito longa de projetos que conseguem fazer isso. No entanto, eu estaria sendo bem injusto (especialmente dentro do tema desta nova edição do concurso) ao mencionar apenas um único título, porque o tema é abrangente demais para eu concluir essa “missão”. Sendo assim, pela primeira vez eu preciso ampliar as minhas escolhas, e todas elas estão voltadas aos projetos de longa metragens do Studio Ghibli, ao qual eu tenho um enorme apreço e uma admiração genuína desde o seu primeiro filme.
Eu acho que é até difícil tentar categorizar todas as qualidades que estão presentes nos filmes desse estúdio, mas não posso deixar de mencionar algumas que me “fisgam” em qualquer projeto cinematográfico que eles lançam mundo à fora. A primeira delas é como os temas abordados (que à primeira vista podem soar como algo simples demais) tendem a captar à minha atenção de uma maneira quase que imediata. O que começa com uma atmosfera trivial, logo se torna em algo muito substancial e repleto de significados relevantes. Um trabalho feito por roteiristas bastante competentes.
Outro aspecto é como os diretores escolhidos conduzem o material que eles recebem. Eu não consigo me recordar (se é que existe algum) de nenhum filme que tenha sido dirigido de uma maneira minimamente decepcionante. Tudo que foi feito, foi muito bem dirigido (especialmente pelo meu diretor favorito do estúdio, o fantástico Hayao Miyazaki, que também é um roteirista fenomenal) e certamente tem o poder de inspirar outros cineastas a fazerem o mesmo (ou ao menos terem alguma base para criar algo novo a partir do que já foi feito), assim como consegue inspirara a audiência.
Outros aspectos estão relacionados ao segmento técnico que são responsáveis por dar vida a personagens memoráveis e cheios de camadas psicologicamente interessantes. Cores altamente vibrantes (mesmo quando são usadas nas cenas mais bucólicas ou tristes, esse aspecto é altamente valorizado para trazer mais peso para os acontecimentos), traços marcantes (que fidelizam a existência não apenas dos personagens, mas dos cenários e de tudo o que faz parte deles) e por último (mas não menos importante), as trilhas sonoras, que sempre me emocionam com sua riqueza de detalhes.
Studio Ghibli é uma criação do trio Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata (diretores) e Toshio Suzuki (produtor), e seus projetos foram ganhando notória visibilidade pelo mundo à medida em que foram sendo devidamente reconhecidos até serem usados como referência de qualidade e terem explodido no mercado cinematográfico. O poder que os projetos desse estúdio carregam com eles é algo assustadoramente mágico, relaxante, imersivo, poderoso e reflexivo. Eu adoro como eles sempre entregam algo de extrema qualidade, e me fazem gostar ainda de cinema (em especial, dessas animações).

That's how I ended up stumbling upon "Chicuarotes," a film directed by Gael García Bernal, who, arguably, is one of the greatest exponents of the land of eternal spring.
And, while it delivers on what it promises (being a stark portrayal of a considerable portion of Mexican reality), I find it a little ironic that it seems to reflect one of the flaws that Güeros acknowledged in one of the most iconic lines of the entire work: "Fucking Mexican cinema! They get some fucking beggars and shoot in black and white and say they're already making art films. And the damn directors, not content with the humiliation of the Conquest, still go to the Old Continent and tell French critics that our country is nothing more than a nest of swine, broken, diabetic, squatters, thugs, fraudulent, treacherous, sleazy, whoring, self-conscious, and precocious.
Chicuarotes, of course, isn't in black and white, but it seems surgically constructed to generate a reaction that blurs the lines between morbidity and pity, something that on several specific occasions ends up working, but at other times feels extremely exaggerated and manipulative.
Throughout the film, we follow two young people from a place called San Gregorio Atlapulco who, desperately trying to earn money for a better life, gradually delve into a world of crime to get ahead.
Along the way, obviously, everything that can go wrong will go wrong, and the cost of success will become increasingly high.
Chicuarotes could be defined as a collection of interesting ideas that weren't properly curated. It exists as a spectacle of misery closer to an episode of "La Rosa de Guadalupe" than to arthouse cinema, which is regrettable considering the decent quality of its direction and the performances of all the young protagonists.
It's interesting, yes, but it's so determined to make its characters suffer that it sacrifices our ability to empathize with them in the process. It's predictable because from the start, its framing makes it clear that Everything Will Go Wrong, and the surprises we encounter along the way are almost cartoonish.
With this, I don't mean that I don't think it's a decent film. I feel there's a powerful message amidst all the disaster, and beyond the morbidity, I have no doubt it seeks to make its viewers reflect.
However, I'm left with those Mexican works that have a more optimistic approach, not because the reality of this country is perfect, but because it's always possible to find a silver lining at the end of the tunnel.

No obstante, tenemos al primer ministro británico y al presidente de los Estados Unidos quienes no están gozando de mucha popularidad y a quienes se les nota que no se llevan nada bien, entre ellos surge una fuerte discusión pública la cual los deja muy mal parados, es por ello que sus respectivos asesores le aconsejan viajar juntos a la próxima cumbre de la OTAN.

La verdad es que a mí me gusta muchísimo este tipo de películas conspirativas, dónde siempre está en riesgo los secretos del gobierno americano o donde están a punto de desaparecer por un ataque terrorista; sin embargo, la siento un poco exagerada en cuanto al número de ataques que recibieron los mandatarios y lo único que tuvieron fue unas cuantas cortadas. Creo que ya no hay innovación en cuánto a este tipo de producciones.
En cuanto a la parte de comedia, fue más una comedia tonta que algo que de verdad diera risa, le faltó más realismo, tiene unas escenas muy lentas y dramáticas; Pero es una película buena que seguramente hay personas que difieren conmigo y opinan que es muy buena, de todas maneras si la recomiendo porque si tiene partes buenas y la trama también lo es.
Now, what is my opinion of the film? The truth is that I really like this type of conspiracy film, where the secrets of the US government are always at risk or where they are about to disappear due to a terrorist attack; however, I feel it is a little exaggerated in terms of the number of attacks the leaders received and the only thing they had was a few cuts. I think there is no longer any innovation in this type of production.
As for the comedy, it was more of a silly comedy than something that was really funny. It lacked realism and had some very slow and dramatic scenes. But it's a good movie, and I'm sure there are people who disagree with me and think it's very good. In any case, I recommend it because it has some good parts and the plot is also good.

Are you in the mood for a suspenseful series full of drama based on a love triangle? I recommend giving School Days a try. This series is another one of my favorite classics. It is based on a visual novel that had a totally unexpected and very dark ending. This series premiered in 2007, and when I watched it, I got the impression that it was ahead of its time, especially because of how each of the characters developed. The story is supposed to be Shonen, quite entertaining, where they show you right from the start the typical introverted boy who has strong feelings for the prettiest girl in his class.
Se te antoja ver una serie cargada de suspenso y muchísimo drama basado en un triángulo amoroso? te recomiendo darle una oportunidad a School Days. Esta serie para mí es otro de mis clásicos favoritos. Está basado en una novela visual que resultó con un desenlace totalmente inesperado y muy oscuro. Esta serie se estrenó en el 2007 y al verla me dió la impresión de estar adelantada a su época, sobre todo por el desarrollo que tuvo cada uno de sus personajes. Se supone que la historia es Shonen, bastante amena donde te muestran de entrada el típico chico introvertido quien tiene sentimientos fuertes por la muchacha más linda de sus salón.
The series begins innocently enough, but the most curious thing about it is that there are no adults to be seen at any point in the anime. Neither parents nor teachers interact with the main characters, so it's unclear who supervises them. However, the plot grabs you so much at the beginning that you put this detail aside to unravel or delve deeper into how the story will end. Will the boy win the girl? Will everything really turn out okay if he follows the advice his other friend gives him? What you have to keep in mind at this point is that Makoto makes his intentions clear at all times, and his circle of friends doesn't see it coming (his bad intentions) until everything ends badly.
La serie empieza con mucha inocencia pero lo más curioso de todo es que en este animé no notas ningún adulto en ningún momento, ni los padres ni los profesores como tal interactúan con estos protagonistas, así que se desconoce quién los supervisa como tal. Pero la trama te atrapa tanto al inicio que dejas este detalle de lado para desenmarañar o querer indagar más en cómo podrá terminar esta historia. ¿El chico conquistará a la chica? ¿realmente todo irá bien si sigue los consejos que le da su otra amiga? Lo que hay que tener en cuenta en este punto es que Makoto deja en claro sus intenciones en todo momento y su círculo de amistad no lo ve venir (esas, sus malas intenciones) hasta que todo acaba mal.
What I liked about this series is the perspective from which the story unfolds. Everything revolves around Makoto, the introverted boy. I don't know if he was innocent from the start, but I got the impression that he was the villain from the moment he formed alliances with the best friend of the girl he likes. From that point on, he becomes an inveterate Latin lover who can't be stopped and wants all the girls in his class, but he keeps up the pretense that he really likes Kotonoha, when it's clear that he doesn't know where to turn and hits on every girl who crosses his path without any scruples. His transformation as the episodes progress is overwhelming, and he goes from being the introverted nerd who arouses curiosity to the most hated character in the series.
Lo que me gustó de esta serie es que el punto de vista bajo el cual te desarrollan la historia. Todo gira en torno a Makoto, el muchacho introvertido. No sé si desde un inicio fue inocente pero a mi me dio la impresión de que es el villano desde el momento que forma alianzas con la mejor amiga de la chica a la que le gusta. Ya a partir de ese punto se convierte en un latin lover empedernido que no lo logra parar nadie y quiere con todas las chicas de su salón pero manteniendo el engaño de que quien realmente le gusta es Kotonoha, cuando claramente se nota que no sabe en dónde caerse muerto y le tira la punta a cuanta niña se le atraviese por el medio sin ningún tipo de escrúpulos. Su transformación a medida que avanzan los capítulos es abrumadora y deja de ser el chivo introvertido que causa curiosidad al más odiado de la serie.

Acá, quien debió ser la protagonista en primer plano y la víctima de todo el triángulo amoroso desarrollado como si fueran adultos en vez de niños con sus crush es la linda de Kotonoha, así que no la culpo por las acciones que tomó al final del animé. Aunque admito que se le fue la mano, el comportamiento que tuvo al final fue impulsado al extremo por parte de quienes ella creía, eran sus amigas y su gran amor verdadero. La historia al final me dio la impresión que se volvió un complot en contra de ella, todo por ser fiel a sus principios pero Makoto la engaña y manipula tan fácilmente que ella cae rendida ante su lujuria. Convirtiendo a Kotonoha como una más de su larga lista de niñas con las que ha estado.
As for Setsuna and Sekai, they are harpies to me and my second most hated characters in the anime. The game is supposed to have different endings in the graphic novel, which turns out to be more like a game itself. In one of those many endings, Setsuna has her happy ending with Makoto, as does Sekai. But in the anime, the love triangle between them ends badly, very badly, and deservedly so. Sekai deceives her best friend to shamelessly steal her boyfriend, while Setsuna tries to “protect” Sekai, whom she also considers her best friend, from this boy Makoto, who is shamelessly using Sekai to satisfy his needs. Both worked alongside Makoto, they didn't let themselves be manipulated, they simply did it because they wanted to, and that's how this story shows a very dark and disturbing side of each of its characters in its anime version.
En cuanto a Setsuna y Sekai, ellas para mí son unas arpías y mis segundos personajes más odiados del animé. Se supone que el juego tiene diferentes finales en la novela gráfica que resulta ser más como un juego en sí. En uno de esos tantos finales, Setsuna tiene su final feliz con Makoto al igual que Sekai. Pero en el animé tanto enredo amoroso entre ellos termina mal, muy mal y bien merecido por cierto. Sekai engaña a su mejor amiga para quitarle al novio de manera descarada, mientras que Setsuna intenta "proteger" a Sekai, a quien considera también su mejor amiga, de este chico Makoto quien está usando descaradamente a Sekai para satisfacer sus necesidades. Ambas trabajaron a la par con Makoto, no se dejaron manipular, simplemente lo hicieron porque quisieron y es así como esta historia muestra un lado muy oscuro y perturbador de cada uno de sus personajes en su versión animé.
Hoy como los domingos, empezamos con el desayuno familiar en la mesa mientras vemos algún programa de TV. Preferentemente de comedia puede ser the big bad theory, Friends o The Middle. Realmente son las que más vemos una y otra vez y siempre no siguen regalando nostalgias y alegrías.

Ella la vio muy concentradamente tanto que nos sorprendió. Le gustó bastante, pero al finalizar se fue a su cuarto a jugar y nosotros a encender nuestra TV para ver una de las series que teníamos planificada ver. Se supone que empezaríamos hoy, pero sus cortos capítulos llenos de angustia cada uno de ellos nos ayudaron a terminarla antes de lo pensado.
After breakfast, we sat down as a family that is, with the little girl and princess of the house to watch The Parent Trap, one of Lindsay Lohan's old movies. She watched it so intently that we were surprised. She liked it a lot, but when it ended, she went to her room to play, and we turned on our TV to watch one of the series we had planned to watch. We were supposed to start today, but its short, suspenseful episodes helped us finish it sooner than expected.
El paciente, así se llama la serie de las que les vengo hablar. Es una producción muy interesante, de esas que te atrapan en momentos con suspenso y drama. Debo confesar que una de las cosas que me llamó la atención fue saber que Steve Carrel protagonizaría esta serie. Fue algo así como cuando vi a Jim Carrey actuando en una película de terror. ¿La recuerdan? Creo que se llamó numero 13 no me esperaba a un actor de comedia con tan semejante papel y puedo decir que fue sorprendente. Logró hacer un magnífico trabajo y en este caso, Steve Carrel nos demostró que un verdadero actor dispuesto y listo para cualquier compromiso.
The Patient is the name of the series I'm here to talk about. It's a very interesting production, one of those that grabs you with suspense and drama. I must confess that one of the things that caught my attention was knowing that Steve Carell would star in this series. It was kind of like when I saw Jim Carrey acting in a horror movie. Do you remember it? I think it was called Number 13. I didn't expect a comedy actor to take on such a role, and I can say that it was surprising. He did a magnificent job, and in this case, Steve Carell showed us that he is a true actor, willing and ready for any challenge.
La actuación de Steve Carell es muy buena, sientes en carne viva la gran presión por la que el personaje pasa. Por otro lado, Domhnall Gleeson, quizas lo recuerdan en Black Mirror quien lo recuerdo con una buena actuación pero acá, el papel le ha quedado muy grande y para mí, fue una mala decisión que fue él Sam, quien representa un asesino en serie pero que sinceramente da es otra impresión. Sí, la de ser un niño consentido más que un asesino en serie, psicópata e irremediable. Aun así, la serie en sí tiene una gran trama. Aunque la producción es del 2022 y hasta ahora que la estoy descubriendo de seguro fue por la falta de publicidad de la serie y no está mal. Realmente se puede disfrutar de una gran angustia y preocupación por las víctimas y sobre todo por nuestro querido Steve Carell quien representa al Doctor Alan Strauss.

On the other hand, Domhnall Gleeson, whom you may remember from Black Mirror, gave a good performance there, but here, the role is too big for him, and for me, it was a bad decision to cast him as Sam, who is supposed to be a serial killer but honestly gives a different impression. Dude muchísimo para verla, pero no cabe duda de que la serie te mantiene constantemente pendiente de que va a suceder, es muy original y con etapas de buen suspenso. Yes, Alan Strauss is a famous psychiatrist who finds himself locked in a dangerous and morally complex situation when his patient, Sam Fortner (Domhnall Gleeson), begins to reveal crucial information to him, but before that, he has locked him in a part of his house so that he can conduct his consultations on his own terms. I hesitated a lot before watching it, but there's no doubt that the series keeps you constantly on edge, wondering what's going to happen next. It's very original and has some great suspenseful moments. If you're unsure about The Patient, I definitely recommend it.

Serial killers are an exceptionally rich inspiration for authors of crime films or TV series, but precisely because of this, they are overused and come with a truckload of irritating clichés. One of the rare series that attempts to engage with this phenomenon in a somewhat original way is Mindhunter, which, in its quest to be “different”, returns to the source. And that source, at least in the modern understanding of the term, is John E. Douglas, a former FBI agent known for co-creating the modern concept of the serial killer and criminal profiling with his colleague Robert Ressler in the 1970s. Douglas, who served as a technical consultant for the authors of The Silence of the Lambs, retired from the FBI in 1995 and that same year chronicled his experiences in the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. The most fascinating part of the book isn’t so much Douglas’s account of his own life and career, but his detailed analysis of the most notorious serial murder cases and the years-long conversations he held with their perpetrators in prisons and hospitals to uncover their motives—or to equip himself and other researchers with tools to predict, prevent, and solve crimes.
Douglas has had an extraordinary influence on Hollywood over the past decades, serving as inspiration for numerous characters in films and TV shows about criminal profiling, most famously with Criminal Minds. It was only a matter of time before Douglas himself and his book became the subject of a screen adaptation, and Netflix provided the answer with Mindhunter, a highly promoted television series. It was an exceptionally ambitious project bolstered by the prestige of David Fincher, a renowned filmmaker whose work includes films about serial killers, who produced the first season and directed several episodes, including the pilot. With such talent, an intriguing premise, and Netflix’s reputation as the streaming king, it wasn’t hard to expect Mindhunter to become a hit, backed by overwhelmingly positive reviews.
The first season of Mindhunter, which has 10 episodes, was written primarily by British writer Joe Penhall, whose adaptation diverged significantly from the details of Douglas’s source material. This included the character of Douglas himself, renamed Holden Ford (played by Jonathan Groff). The story begins in 1977, as the FBI adjusts to the post-Hoover era and dramatic societal changes the old director had stubbornly tried to stifle. Holden is a young, ambitious agent with a psychology degree and hostage negotiation experience, whose job includes teaching local police forces FBI investigative techniques. Ford joins Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), an older agent who recently founded the FBI’s Behavioural Science Unit (BSU), and the two hatch the idea of interviewing serial killers during their travels to gather scientific data—not just assisting local investigations but also conversing with the killers themselves. Despite their superior Sheppard’s (Cotter Smith) skepticism toward the initiative, their efforts begin to bear fruit, and eventually the project is approved, with psychiatrist Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) joining the team as a consultant. Holden, however, increasingly struggles with success and the corrosive toll that immersion in unimaginable atrocities takes on his private life.
Mindhunter’s strengths start with Fincher’s direction; the four episodes he helmed are exceptionally well-directed, establishing a distinctive atmosphere from the start through clever use of suggestive imagery and editing, a style seamlessly continued throughout the remaining episodes. The narrative structure, meanwhile, strives for originality by departing from the norms of police procedurals like CSI. Ford and Tench participate in investigations and solve crimes, but not in the elegant, “tidy” way typical of the genre; many intriguing cases remain unresolved, as they would in real life. The soundtrack, built around 1970s pop hits, further enhances the atmosphere and occasionally serves as a sly ironic commentary on the proceedings.
The show’s biggest asset, however, is its focus on the very thing that defined the source material: the profiles and conversations with serial killers, whose real-life counterparts remain intact in the adaptation. Among them, Ed Kemper stands out—a man whose necrophilia-driven murders starkly contrasted with his affable demeanour and ability to befriend both police officers and FBI interrogators, including Douglas, who described him as the most intelligent and agreeable of all his interviewees. In the series, Kemper is played by Cameron Britton, who masterfully contrasts Kemper’s menacing presence with a mechanical, agreeable voice.
Such scenes, however, are too few. To pad out the 10-episode content, producers overemphasize the private lives of the investigative team members. Predictably, this leads to the characters—and the show itself—falling into irritating clichés. Ford is paired with Debbie (Hannah Gross), an attractive “hippie intellectual” who serves no purpose beyond symbolising contemporary social changes or fulfilling explicit sex scenes to meet the quota of content modern prestige TV series apparently couldn’t do without. Tench fares worse: McCallany, a master of character acting, struggles to elevate a poorly written character bogged down by clichéd family dynamics—the conservative old-school agent must have a traditional family, but fate dealt him a foster son who turns out to be autistic. Even worse is Dr. Carr, played by the attractive Anna Torv (known for her role in Fringe), whose lesbian identity feels tacked on solely to meet an LGBT quota. Amid all this, the serial killers and the protagonists’ professional work become less important than whether Ford, abandoned by his girlfriend at season’s end, will discover he prefers Dr. Carr and help her “play for another team”. When topped off with an absurd, gratingly pumped-up emotional cliffhanger, the series that should have been a masterful blend of drama and true crime begins to resemble a Mexican telenovela. The creators of Mindhunter *aced a far tougher challenge in the second season than they did in the first.

Great video games have been hugely successful because of the way they are developed, always seeking to create a great adventure within the game and thus connect with players, allowing them to enjoy hours of gameplay or until the story ends. This is something that has sparked the creativity of many film directors, allowing them to achieve a great adaptation of a game into a movie in a certain number of hours that is admirable, simply because it is a great summary. As a result, in recent months we have seen great movies based on games that have managed to bring out and revive all the adventure and action that these types of games contain.
This happened with the most recent release from the great Netflix platform, which adapted the game Until Dawn, which was released in 2015. After many years, its name has come to light, but this time with a horror movie where things will get complicated and people's lives will be at stake, as we will see how a group of friends want to search for clues about a death in order to understand what happened. However, not everything is as it seems, as they will be trapped in a valley with multiple masked killers, and death becomes much stronger. The good thing about this adaptation of a game is that everything has to end, and this is where we ask ourselves: Will they make it out alive? Who is the masked killer? And many other questions that are only answered during the hours of the movie.
Grandes videojuegos han sido un gran éxito por la manera como están desarrollados y siempre buscan crear una gran aventura dentro del juego y de esa manera conectar con los jugadores y poder disfrutar de horas de juegos o hasta que termine la historia. Este es algo que ha despertado la creatividad de muchos directores del cine y de esa manera poder lograr una gran adaptación de un juego a una película en una cierta cantidad de horas que es admirar, por el mismo hecho de ser un gran resumen, por ende en los últimos meses hemos visto grandes películas de juegos que han logrado sacar y de esa manera poder revivir toda la aventura y acción que ese tipo de juegos contiene.
Esto pasó con la entrega más reciente de la gran plataforma de Netflix en sacar una adaptación del juego de Until Dawn, la cual fue lanzado para el año 2015 y luego de muchos años su nombre sale a la luz, pero esta vez con una película de terror donde las cosas se irán complicando y la vida de las personas estará en juego, ya que veremos como un grupo de amigos, quieren buscar pista sobre una muerte para así poder entender lo qué pasó, sin embargo, no todo es como suena, ya que estarán encerrados en un valle con múltiples asesinos enmascaraos y la muerte se hace mucho más fuerte y lo bueno de esa adaptación de un juego todo tiene que terminar y es aquí donde nos preguntamos ¿Podrán salir con vida?, ¿Quién será ese asesino enmascarado? Y muchas otras cosas que solo están allí en esas horas de película.
Achieving this type of adaptation is very interesting work, as there are two possible outcomes: it either works well or it fails miserably. Doing this is quite a challenge, but this installment maintains a good pace, narration, and even that touch of horror that sets it apart from other films in this genre, creating something with great impact and taking it to another level, as if it were a completely new installment. Another thing that caught my attention is how interesting the plot is, as something as simple as a search ends up being a huge headache for many, knowing that death awaits them with every decision they make, as if it were a game in real life, as well as that supernatural touch in recreating everything in a direct way without much explanation.
Lograr este tipo de adaptaciones es un trabajo muy interesante, ya que esto tiene dos caminos o sale bien o queda mal, ya que hacer esto es todo un reto y esta entrega mantiene un buen ritmo, la narración e incluso ese toque de terror distinto a las demás películas de este género y lograr crear algo de gran impacto y de esa manera poder llevar este a otro nivel como si fuera una gran entrega totalmente nueva. Otras de las cosas que me llamo la atención es lo interesante de la trama, ya que al ser algo sencillo como una búsqueda, termina siendo un gran dolor de cabeza para muchos, al saber que la muerte los espera al tomar cada decisión como si fuera un juego en la vida real, como también ese toque sobrenatural al recrear todo de una manera directa y sin tanta explicación.
Each of the scenes is very well crafted, conveying a sense of intense pressure and anxiety, as no one wants to go out for a walk and have it be the last day of their lives. It's all about taking risks to add a little more excitement, and for those who don't know about the game, it's just another horror movie with a bit of mind games, making it a terrifying installment. It features a large number of characters, each of whom has to take certain actions and make decisions in order to move forward and not be the first to die, since the further you advance, the more details and the truth behind it all are revealed, which adds value to the film. Everything will be over once dawn breaks, so it will be a game to see who can survive all those hours, while, on the other hand, the killer adds value through the way they move, and everything ends in disaster.
Cada una de las escenas muy bien trabajadas, donde se puede notar esa gran presión y ansiedad, ya que nadie quiere salir de paseo y que ese sea el último día de sus vidas, todo sea para poder arriesgarse y de esa manera poder darle un poco de más emoción y para los que no conozcan sobre el juego sea otra película más de terror con algo de juego mental y de esa manera ser una entrega aterradora. Cuenta con una gran cantidad de personajes, la cual cada uno de ellos tiene que tomar ciertas acciones y decisiones para así poder ir avanzando y que no sean el primero en morir, puesto que entre más avances se pueden ir descubriendo más detalles y la verdad de todo lo que está detrás de eso, puesto que le aporta valor a la entrega y todo podrá terminarse una vez que salga el amanecer por eso será todo un juego y ver quien podrá sobrevivir toda esa cantidad de horas, mientras que, por otro lado, el asesino aporta valor por la manera como se va moviendo y todo termina en un desastre.

Sin embargo, más allá de eso la película mantiene ese ritmo de terror, donde todo puede pasar en cuestión de segundos y de esa manera poder terminar con toda una entrega donde la acción y la posibilidad de poder salir con vida están presentes, pero será todo un juego donde podrá pasar lo que sea y si buscas una película distinta y que sea aterrador no dejes pasar esta nueva entrega.

The film begins by showing us the ancient Gunpowder Plot, with Guy Fawkes being caught and subsequently hanged in the 1600s. It then transports us to the near future, with England being subjugated by a totalitarian and fascist government led by Chancellor Adam Sutler. In sequence, we see two characters getting dressed and preparing to go out while listening to a daily broadcast of "the face of England" talking about "undesirables" such as the US government, immigrants, and homosexuals. Going out in the middle of the night during a curfew, a girl named Evey Hammond is stopped by British police officers on a street with other intentions.
When she calls for help, a man dressed in black, wearing a cape and a Guy Fawkes mask, appears. He takes down the abusive police officers and saves the girl, introducing himself dramatically with a more formal and polite manner of speaking than usual. The masked man invites Evey to see his "symphony orchestra" perform that night. She agrees, and that same night he takes her to a high place to listen to a recital being played throughout the street via speakers at every intersection and avenue. Finally, we see the Old Bailey destroyed by a huge explosion that ends with fireworks forming the letter V in the sky. This is how our masked activist, hero, and number one enemy of this government makes himself known.

La película inicia mostrándonos la antigua Conspiración de la Pólvora con Guy Fawkes siendo atrapado y posteriormente ahorcado en los años 1600s. Luego, nos transporta a un futuro cercano con una Inglaterra siendo subyugada por un gobierno totalitario y fascista liderado por el Canciller Adam Sutler. En secuencia vemos a dos personajes vistiéndose y preparándose para salir mientras se escucha una transmisión diaria de “la cara de Inglaterra” hablando de los “indeseables” como lo son el gobierno de los Estados Unidos, los inmigrantes y los homosexuales. Al salir a plena noche en medio de un toque de queda, una chica llamada Evey Hammond es detenida por unos policías británicos en una calle con otras intenciones.
Al pedir auxilio, aparece un hombre vestido de negro, con capa y la máscara de de Guy Fawkes. Él acaba con los abusivos policías y salva a la chica y se presenta de forma dramática con una forma de hablar bastante formal y educada de lo normal. El enmascarado invita a Evey a ver su “orquesta sinfónica” sonar esta noche. Ella accede y esa misma noche la lleva a un lugar alto para escuchar el sonar de un recital en toda la calle mediante los parlantes que hay en cada cruce y avenida. Finalmente, vemos cómo el Old Balley es destruido con una enorme explosión que termina con fuegos artificiales haciendo la figura de la letra V en el cielo. Así es como se hace llamar nuestro enmascarado activista, héroe y enemigo número uno de este gobierno.

Watching this film many years later fills me with both nostalgia and fascination, as I have discovered many of the reasons why it is so well known today, 20 years after its release. When I was just a child or even a teenager, I saw this film as just another action-drama that was shown from time to time on television. Now, I realize that it is much more than just a film adaptation of a DC adult comic book. You could even say that it is a symbol, a huge reference, and a message—all at once—to today's society, once you give it a chance. However, I'm not very good at talking about political and social messages, so I'll just give my opinion.
We can say that this is one of the most famous and influential masked character films in the world of cinema and popular culture today. This can be seen in the simple fact that the use of the Guy Fawkes mask has become quite popular since then. And it's no wonder when you watch the first 10 minutes of the film, which I described above. It is definitely one of the best introductions you can find for a character as enigmatic as V. An anarchist seeking revenge, leaving a clear message of freedom and hope to society while facing a powerful and extremist enemy. In short, that's what this film is about, but there's more, as you could even get a love story out of it. It all depends on how you look at this film.

Ver esta película muchos años después me causa tanto nostalgia como fascinación ya que he descubierto muchas de las razones por la cual es tan conocida en la actualidad, ya 20 años después de su estreno. Y es que cuando era apenas un niño o incluso de adolescente veía esta cinta como una más de acción y drama que se transmitía de vez en cuando en la televisión. Actualmente, me doy cuenta de que es muchísimo más que una simple adaptación cinematográfica de un cómic para adultos de DC. Se podría decir incluso que es un símbolo, una enorme referencia y un mensaje -todo esto a la vez- hacia la sociedad actual, una vez le das la oportunidad. Sin embargo, no soy muy bueno hablando de mensajes políticos y sociales, así que solo daré mi opinión, nomás.
Podemos decir que esta es de las películas de personajes enmascarados más famosa e influyente que existe en el mundo del cine y de la cultura popular actual. Esto se puede notar por el simple hecho de cómo el uso de la máscara de Guy Fawkes se popularizó bastante desde entonces. Y no es de menos al ver sus 10 primeros minutos de película, los cuales ya les describí arriba. Definitivamente es de las mejores introducciones que se pueden encontrar para un personaje tan enigmático como lo es V. Un anarquista que busca venganza dejando un mensaje claro de libertad y esperanza a la sociedad mientras se enfrenta a un enemigo poderoso y extremista. En resumen eso es de lo que trata esta cinta, pero hay más, ya que incluso se podría sacar una historia de amor de aquí. Todo depende de con qué ojos veas esta película.
I admit that I am a fan of superheroes, especially their movies. DC is a bit of a special case for me, and it's no lie that it has some priceless gems. In this case, it's not the story of a hero, but rather a character who represents a hopeful idea in a dystopian world that is very, very similar to what we see in the real world. Speaking of dystopian worlds, we already know that this subgenre of science fiction is very popular because it has a huge variety of stories with chaotic futures of all kinds. So far, we have talked about many of these films, but none resemble a racist, conservative, and extremist dystopia like the one we see in V for Vendetta. And I said that it is very similar to the real world since it is a fact that governments with these characteristics existed (and continue to exist) today. But of course, we are not here to talk about politics.
We are here to talk about how excellently crafted the story told in this film is. From beginning to end, we can see how each character relates to everything that is happening, revealing a variety of versions of the same story that ends with an explosive message of freedom, hope, and security. It all sounds very political, and to a large extent it is, which personally detracts from it a little. And it's not surprising, since it has so many elements, so many references and so many messages and hints about governments and dictatorships of the past and present that it is difficult to avoid or ignore completely. The way in which each terrorist act is carried out by our masked activist, the decisions and actions of the high-ranking members of this regime, and the different ways of thinking of the characters in this film remind us again and again that what we are seeing is a war of ideals.

Admito que soy fan de los superhéroes, sobre todo de sus películas. DC es un caso un tanto especial para mí y no es mentira que tiene joyas invaluables. En este caso, no es la historia de un héroe de la que se trata, sino de un personaje que representa una idea esperanzadora en un mundo distópico muy, pero muy parecido a lo que se puede ver en el mundo real. Hablando de mundos distópicos, ya sabemos que este subgénero de la ciencia ficción es muy popular por tener una enorme variedad de historias con futuros caóticos de todo tipo. Hasta ahora hemos hablado de muchas de esas películas, pero ninguna se asemeja a una distopía racista, conservadora y extremista como la que vemos en V for Vendetta. Y dije que es muy parecida al mundo real ya que es un hecho que existían (y siguen existiendo) gobiernos con estas características en la actualidad. Pero claro, no estamos aquí para hablar de política.
Estamos para hablar de lo excelentemente hecha que está la historia que nos cuenta esta película. De principio a fin podemos ver cómo cada personaje que aparece se relaciona con todo lo que está pasando, lo cual revela una variedad de versiones de una misma historia que termina con un explosivo mensaje de libertad, esperanza y seguridad. Suena muy político todo y en gran parte es así, lo cual hace que le reste uno que otro punto en lo personal. Y no es de extrañar ya que tiene tantos elementos, tantas referencias y tantos mensajes e indirectas a gobiernos y dictaduras del pasado y del presente que es difícil evitar o ignorar por completo. La forma en la que se elabora cada acto terrorista por parte de nuestro enmascarado activista, las decisiones y formas de actuar de los altos miembros de este régimen y las distintas formas de pensar que tienen los personajes en esta película nos recuerdan una y otra vez que lo que vemos es una guerra de ideales.
At first, what caught my attention most about this film was none other than its main character, V. This masked antagonist and vigilante who seeks to liberate an England plunged into dictatorship was, for me, a kind of superhero with a very good vocabulary and excellent taste in literature and classical music. Not to mention his style and his skills in fighting and slaying his enemies. His story, or at least the story we are shown in the film, is one of the best I've ever seen, to be honest. It's one of those character developments that are worth getting to know. From then on, I only saw him as a superhuman, something like Steve Rogers (Captain America) or Wade Wilson (Deadpool). Even before I knew these two Marvel characters, I found it incredible how they show us V's origin as an experimental case of a super soldier.
One of the things I would like to mention about this movie is the striking resemblance between this totalitarian and fascist government and that of Nazi Germany during World War II. Both Chancellor Adam Sutler and the issue of human experimentation and the way this country is governed are clear examples of this. I suppose it's no coincidence, as it wouldn't be the first time that a film of this kind has been inspired by one of the darkest periods in human history to create a dystopian future as realistic as the one we see here. And if we look more closely, we can see many other signs and references to today's society, some forms of government, and even religion itself, with the scene of the pope with Evey, for example. There is even a mention of a pandemic, something that now resonates quite strongly for obvious reasons.

Al principio, lo que me llamaba la atención principalmente de esta película es nada menos que su personaje principal, V. Este enmascarado antagonista y justiciero que busca liberar una Inglaterra sumida en una dictadura fue para mí una especie de superhéroe con un muy buen léxico y excelentes gustos por la literatura y la música clásica. Eso sin mencionar su estilo y sus habilidades para pelear y degollar a sus enemigos. Su historia, o al menos la historia que nos muestran en la película, es de lo mejor que he visto, la verdad. Es de esos desarrollos de personajes que valen la pena conocer. Desde entonces solo lo veía como un superhumano, algo así como un Steve Rogers (Capitán América) o un Wade Wilson (Deadpool). Incluso antes de conocer a estos dos personajes de Marvel se me hizo increíble la forma en la que nos muestran el origen de V como un caso experimental de supersoldado.
Una de las cosas que sí me gustaría mencionar sobre esta película es el enorme parecido que tiene este gobierno totalitario y fascista con el de la Alemania Nazi de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tanto el Canciller Adam Sutler, como también el tema de los experimentos con humanos y la forma de gobernar este país es una clara muestra de ello. Supongo que no es casualidad, ya que no sería la primera vez que una cinta de este estilo se inspira en una de las épocas más oscuras de la historia humana para crear un futuro distópico tan realista como el que vemos acá. Y si nos fijamos más en detalle podemos notar muchas otras señales e indirectas a la sociedad actual, algunas formas de gobierno y hasta la misma religión con la escena del papa con Evey, por ejemplo. Incluso hay hasta una mención de una pandemia, algo que ahora resuena bastante por obvias razones.
Apart from its political, social, and religious criticism, this film also conveys many messages related to freedom and hope. Starting with the character of V, an enigmatic masked man who loves literature, music, cinema, and art. These are practically everything that a totalitarian government seeks to eliminate from its people: forms of expression and freedom. However, be that as it may, what happened after that is simply one of the most emotional and impressive turning points I have ever seen in a film in my entire life.
This is something that this film also has, apart from the many references and social and political messages. And that is the way it masterfully and unprecedentedly blends drama with suspense. Just mentioning the rain scene (for those who know it) will make you recognize that this is undoubtedly the case. Of course, beyond being something audiovisual, it is the way it builds this story and adds elements in a way that does not seem forced or unnecessary. Take humor, for example, which is only seen in one scene as a direct mockery of Chancellor Adam Sutler's government. Another example would be the issue of homosexuals with the case of the girl who was imprisoned in one of those government "reform centers". The latter is even a story within a story that serves as the driving force behind everything that happens in this film.

Otro ejemplo sería el tema de los homosexuales con el caso de la chica que fue prisionera en uno de esos “centros reformatorios” del gobierno. Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspects of this film. It is worth mentioning that the production was handled by the same people who made The Matrix at the time. However, beyond seeing an exaggerated use of CGI and other visual effects, we notice that it has an excellent amount of practical effects and a cinematic quality that was quite excellent for its time. The style of photography, the shots, the use of light and shadow, the makeup, and the palette of cool, gray colors are particularly striking. The action sequences are also excellent, especially when they use the classic slow-motion style. The sound effects are well done too, but what stands out most about this film is undoubtedly its soundtrack. The music used throughout most of the film is fascinating, especially if you are a fan of classical music. In short, this is a film that I recommend watching only if you like revolutionary messages dressed up in action and suspense.
Personally, I give it a rating of 9/10 in terms of the science fiction, suspense, and action genres.

Es por películas como esta que considero que los años 2000s fueron los mejores años del cine, sobre todo para gigantes como DC. El éxito que tuvo esta película en su momento, que se le considere una obra de culto y un gran referente en la cultura popular actual es una muestra de ello. En lo personal es una sorpresa para mí reconocer todo esto que les acabo de escribir de una película que, hace varios años atrás, pensé que era una simple cinta de acción más. Incluso, como dije antes, esta película también se puede contar como una historia de amor. Sobre todo con la forma en la que la relación de Evey con V a lo largo de las dos horas de largometraje que tiene va evolucionando a algo más allá que pura venganza y odio.
Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos del apartado audiovisual que tiene esta película. Cabe mencionar que la producción estuvo a cargo de los mismos que hicieron The Matrix en su momento. Sin embargo, más allá de ver un uso exagerado del CGI y otros efectos visuales, notamos que tiene una cantidad excelente de efectos prácticos y una calidad cinematográfica bastante excelente para su época. Everytime I get a recommendation from someone I'm just getting to know, it's always a given for me to approach it with skepticism. If it turns out to be an exceptional piece, you'd gain my respect as far as movies are concerned. If proven otherwise, it's fine. We'd just talk about other things.
Why am I saying this? Someone recommended the animated series Castlevania to me recently, and now the person has my respect in folds, after watching. Without further ado, the point of this post is to review the series Castlevania, let's get to that.
Castlevania is a fantasy animated series, consisting of four seasons. The series follows Dracula, who has assembled an army of vampires to rid the world of humans, who brutally murdered his wife due to their misinterpretation of science as witchcraft. His son Alucard, knowing that that isn't what his mother would have wanted, has to team up with Trevor Belmont, the last member of a family known for the elimination of vampires and other non-human species, causing harm to humans, and Sypha, a speaker adept at magic.
This trio team up to kill Dracula and luckily for them, amidst Dracula's elite courtmembers, disunity arises. But even with this, are these three enough to overpower the myth turned reality that is Dracula?
The thing about this movie is that I can't even pinpoint one particular thing I loved. You know when you watch a series you initially didn't know what to expect from it, and even if you somehow expected to find faults, you were rewarded with none? That's what Castlevania did to me. It started out with the intention of killing Dracula but may I tell you? It didn't stop at just that. I'd have loved to tell you so many other things about the plot but no, go have your own share of the fun watching it.
I dreaded starting this series actually because I feared for how long it was. It's a total of 32 episodes and I didn't think I'd even be able to finish it but this drama had a whole lot in store for me. A whole lot I'm grateful I came across. The characters were everything. There was Alucard, the fairly used human being as described in the movie, lol. I liked his aloofness which made him seem as the leader in the trio, whenever Sypha and Trevor decided to play their enemies to lovers game.
Sypha and Trevor were two sides of the same coin and I loved them. They were talented, sensible and went according to plan. The way things turned out for them left me so thrilled. The villains here, did so much and I was happy with how some of them ended. Although some of them deserved painful endings, they didn't get it. But you know the good thing about that? It didn't in anyway make the ending less satisfying.
The animation, the graphics, the CGI, and everything was mind-blowing in this series. It's one that stays with you for a very long time. I really really enjoyed this one and so, I'll be rating it a solid 9.8/10.
