Ryan Murphy continues to launch new projects, and The Beauty is a delight that I am enjoying as if it were ice cream, but hot. Most people already know Murphy and his excesses, so we will find a lot of that in this new production. I have only seen four episodes and it is already time to recommend it. It is his first season, which is perhaps why I like it so much. We still don't know if it will be renewed, which is the problem with Murphy. His tendency to drag things out longer than necessary, as a clear example, this year season 13 of American Horror Story is going to premiere, and I don't even remember which season I stopped watching it, I think it was the Antichrist season, after that I couldn't stand that series anymore.

I've seen some tweets comparing the series to the movie The Substance, because both deal with the theme of an unhealthy obsession with physical beauty, for which people are willing to do anything to stay young, radiant, and attractive. They also have bodily horror in common, which I love. I'm fascinated by bodily horror; I think it's my cinematic fetish.

Exploding bodies, lots of blood, physical transformations, sex... In my opinion, a good mix to create a pretty interesting plot. Of course, all in Murphy's style. I think he's taking a more graphic approach, as he did with some scenes in the miniseries about Ed Gein. I like that, I hope he keeps it up throughout the series and doesn't shy away from showing scenes that some people find shocking, but which I find very visually appealing.

The first sequence of the first episode plunges us straight into the plot, and there's even quite a bit of action. The story revolves around a virus created by someone powerful, but a strain has been stolen and spread. It is transmitted in a very divine way, through sex, just like venereal diseases. However, this virus transforms people into beautiful beings. Everything explodes (literally) when top models begin to suffer strange attacks, cravings for water, super strength, and will kill to drink water and escape from something that seems to burn them from within. As a result of these events, two FBI special agents, Cooper and Jordan, are assigned to investigate and find out what is going on.

Not only are we going to see what happens outside of the main storyline, but there are also subplots that branch off from it. We'll find out who the millionaire businessmen behind the creation of the virus are, and we'll also meet Jeremy, a fat guy who just wants to sleep with lots of girls. I think he's a virgin, he's never had a woman in his arms, and we'll see his transformation and his encounter with The Killer, the man with an eye patch who is cleaning up to prevent it from spreading.

There's a good cast behind it, most of whom are actors who work on Murphy's productions. Evan Peters plays Cooper and Rebecca Hall plays Jordan. Incidentally, the latter will also be in Murphy's production of Sins this year, which will deal with the Lizzie Borden case. The new face in Murphy's cast is Ashton Kutcher, who plays millionaire Byron Forst, who spends his time enjoying the sweetness of beauty and appears to be the mastermind behind the virus. His character is quite over the top, but that fits with the whole story.

I don't think it's a coincidence that they chose him. Let's see, he was Demi Moore's partner, she was very successful with the movie The Substance, which dealt with a similar theme, and now he's in this series. Surely Murphy and the other co-creator have been inspired by many films about beauty and bodily horror, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I think I saw a review that said it's a copy, but no, it touches on similar themes, but it's not the same.

I think there will be 11 episodes in the whole season. I recommend you look it up and give it a chance to see if the first episode hooks you. I'm really enjoying it; it's just what I like. This time, Ryan Murphy has exceeded my expectations. Creo que es virgen, nunca ha tenido a una mujer en sus brazos, y veremos su transformación y su encuentro con El Asesino, el hombre con un parche en el ojo que está limpiando para evitar que se propague.

I had already seen the films Aquarius and Bacurau by Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho. I liked both, especially Aquarius, starring Sonia Braga. This actor already has a career in Hollywood. I've seen him in several movies and television series. The last one I saw him in was the miniseries Dope Thief. I think that has contributed greatly to the film being a strong contender this awards season. I liked the movie, and now that it has won the Golden Globe, it is the clear favorite to win the Oscar, which would mean that Brazil would win that award two years in a row. Armando, who goes by the name Marcelo, returns to the city of Recife, where his maternal grandparents are taking care of his young son. One of his goals is to leave Brazil with his son, but at the same time he wants to find information about his mother, so the same network that is helping him will get him a job in an office where identity documents are issued.

I think the political and criminal thriller part is fine. The corruption, the ambition of the powerful, the hitmen who will be sent to find and kill him. All that part kept me in suspense, wondering what would happen, but this is where there are some creative decisions that suddenly took me out of the story. For example, a surreal and even comical scene about a leg that terrifies prostitutes and homosexuals in a park. Those things surprised me a little.

That and the fact that the film is too long. It lasts two hours and forty minutes, and there are scenes that, although entertaining, drag on too long, slowing down the pace of the story. Of course, I liked the filmmaker's naturalistic and traditional style. Those scenes in the streets, with people, set in that era. Visually, I liked them, as they were very familiar to me, being from a South American country, so despite the linguistic differences with Brazil, we also have many things in common.

For viewers from other parts of the world, I think it's a somewhat difficult film to digest. The same goes for younger viewers, who are looking for something more dynamic. They are unlikely to want to watch a film that lasts almost three hours. I think it's those exotic images of a city and an era that may have seduced Cannes and the award associations where it has been nominated.

Something devastating, and what strikes me most about this film, is that it reminds us that we have short memories. That's why our societies keep making the same mistakes. That last part, where the memory of a certain character has already faded, where people went on with their lives and seem to have forgotten the blood that was shed.

Todos los regímenes totalitarios son crueles, y eso se ve en la historia, donde el protagonista es un fugitivo que recibe ayuda de una red clandestina que apoya a los refugiados políticos.

Armando, quien usa el nombre de Marcelo, regresa a la ciudad de Recife, donde sus abuelos maternos cuidan de su hijo pequeño. Uno de sus objetivos es salir de Brasil con su hijo, pero al mismo tiempo quiere encontrar información sobre su madre, por lo que la misma red que le está ayudando le conseguirá un trabajo en una oficina donde se expiden documentos de identidad.

Creo que la parte de thriller político y criminal está bien. La corrupción, la ambición de los poderosos, los sicarios que serán enviados a buscarlo y matarlo. Toda esa parte me mantuvo en suspenso, preguntándome qué pasaría, pero aquí es donde hay algunas decisiones creativas que de repente me sacaron de la historia. Por ejemplo, una escena surrealista e incluso cómica sobre una pierna que aterroriza a las prostitutas y a los homosexuales en un parque. Esas cosas me sorprendieron un poco.

Eso y el hecho de que la película es demasiado larga. Dura dos horas y cuarenta minutos, y hay escenas que, aunque entretenidas, se alargan demasiado, ralentizando el ritmo de la historia. Por supuesto, me gustó el estilo naturalista y costumbrista del cineasta. Esas escenas en las calles, con gente, ambientadas en esa época. Visualmente, me gustaron, ya que me resultaban muy familiares, al ser de un país sudamericano, por lo que, a pesar de las diferencias lingüísticas con Brasil, también tenemos muchas cosas en común.

Para los espectadores de otras latitudes, creo que es una película algo difícil de digerir. Lo mismo ocurre con los espectadores más jóvenes, que buscan algo más dinámico. Es poco probable que quieran ver una película que dura casi tres horas. Creo que son esas imágenes exóticas de una ciudad y una época las que pueden haber seducido a Cannes y a las asociaciones de premios donde ha sido nominada.

Algo devastador, y lo que más me llama la atención de esta película, es que nos recuerda que tenemos poca memoria. Por eso nuestras sociedades siguen cometiendo los mismos errores. Esa última parte, donde la memoria de cierto personaje ya se ha difuminado, donde la gente siguió con sus vidas y parece haber olvidado la sangre que se derramó.

This is truly terrifying. There are no ghosts, no creatures from the beyond, no sudden scares; it is a documentary, and what it shows is reality. The documentary left me feeling very uneasy. What it shows, although I realize there is also a bias on the part of the director, is that everything we see, for those of us who are not from the United States, can seem like a surreal situation.

Problems between neighbors exist everywhere. In my third world country, these problems between neighbors are often resolved with extreme violence. It's something that happens everywhere. For example, last year I saw a news story about an elderly man in a city in Argentina who went to complain to some neighbors who were playing loud music. The situation became tense and he pulled out a gun. One of the men rebuked him harshly, and the man ended up shooting and killing him. Perhaps if that had happened in the United States, he could have justified it under the Stand Your Ground law.

After watching the documentary, I had to do some research. I am not American, so I am not familiar with the laws of that country and each of its states. By showing this real tragedy, the documentary aims to draw attention to the Stand Your Ground law that is in force in several states in that country.

I'm not a lawyer, but I know that these types of laws can lead to abuse when there is racial or political bias in their application. That's what this film wants to show, and it does so in a heartbreaking way. One of the novel aspects of the documentary is that it is based on footage from cameras that police officers wear on their uniforms and activate when they arrive at the scene where they are needed.

That's the scariest thing: what we see is what happened, not dramatizations. The most heartbreaking scene is when the incident occurs and everything that follows. The children. The reactions. Damn it. We don't need horror movies, we don't need Guillermo del Toro trying to scare us with a fashionable Frankenstein model, the real monsters can be our neighbors or ourselves.

What Susan Lorincz did was wrong. That woman is completely unhinged. She's the typical elderly neighbor that no one would want to have. Everything bothers her, and it's also clear that she's racist. She's a paranoid old woman. I don't know her background, I don't know if she had any traumas in the past, but she's a detestable old woman, or at least that's the image she gives in those images. Susan was bothered by the neighbors' children playing, making noise, supposedly bothering her, etc. Although the documentary makes the children seem like little angels, they probably bothered the old woman by saying things to her.

When a security system is unable to deal with these kinds of problems, violence and tragedy ensue. That's for sure. In the images, we see how the crazy lady constantly calls the police and they, in accordance with the law, try to mediate to resolve the situation. The system is so bad that it doesn't even occur to them that if that lady seems upset, something bad could happen. Well, that's the United States for you, with its good and bad sides.

This true story is interesting to study and really draws attention to these kinds of issues. The documentary was nominated for an Oscar, and I think it's one of the favorites to win. It was a mistake that someone died in this tragedy, but at the same time, the woman did something that is not against the law. I put myself in her shoes, if I were a paranoid old man (which I am), I might have done the same thing she did and I would be locked up in jail. Something I like about the United States is the right to private property and self-defense, but at the same time it's something that scares me and I'm not interested in living there. I know it's a contradiction, but that's what I think.

I think this is a documentary that Americans will understand better, but I still recommend it. It gave me chills at several points. I hope these tragedies don't happen, but the real world is very cruel.

Lo que hizo Susan Lorincz está mal. Esa señora está completamente desquiciada. Es la típica vecina mayor que nadie querría tener. Todo le molesta, y también se nota que es racista. Es una vieja paranoica. No conozco sus antecedentes, no sé si tuvo traumas en el pasado, pero es una anciana detestable, o al menos esa es la imagen que da en esas imágenes. A Susan le molestaban los niños de los vecinos que jugaban, hacían ruido, supuestamente la molestaban, etc. Aunque el documental hace que los niños parezcan angelitos, probablemente molestaban a la anciana diciéndole cosas.

Cuando un sistema de seguridad no es capaz de lidiar con este tipo de problemas, se producen violencia y tragedias. Eso es seguro. En las imágenes, vemos cómo la señora loca llama constantemente a la policía y ellos, de acuerdo con la ley, intentan mediar para resolver la situación. El sistema está tan mal que ni siquiera se les pasa por la cabeza que, si esa señora parece molesta, podría pasar algo malo. Bueno, así son los Estados Unidos, con sus lados buenos y malos.

Esta historia real es interesante de estudiar y realmente llama la atención sobre este tipo de problemas. El documental fue nominado a un Óscar y creo que es uno de los favoritos para ganar. Fue un error que alguien muriera en esta tragedia, pero al mismo tiempo, la mujer hizo algo que no va en contra de la ley. Me pongo en su lugar, si yo fuera un viejo paranoico (que lo soy), quizá habría hecho lo mismo que ella y estaría encerrado en la cárcel. Algo que me gusta de Estados Unidos es el derecho a la propiedad privada y a la autodefensa, pero al mismo tiempo es algo que me da miedo y no me interesa vivir allí. Sé que es una contradicción, pero eso es lo que pienso.

Creo que es un documental que los estadounidenses entenderán mejor, pero aún así lo recomiendo. Me ha dado escalofríos en varios momentos. Espero que estas tragedias no ocurran, pero el mundo real es muy cruel.

I'm watching some lighthearted series, which are good for killing time and also entertaining, and Steal has just been released on Amazon Prime. The trailer convinced me to watch it. It's a thriller about a financial heist, and the first episode is very good, it flies by and keeps you in suspense throughout. The second episode also convinced me to watch the whole thing.

However, I liked the first three episodes and half of the fourth the most, because after some things that happen in the fourth episode, despite maintaining my interest in finding out who the hell is behind it all, it's towards the end where, in my opinion, it falls short in several aspects. The last two episodes aren't bad; they have their share of tension and action to wrap up the plot, but maybe I was expecting a different ending.

It is still a product that offers entertainment. If you like stories about robberies and the mystery of discovering, along with the protagonists, who organized it. In this case, the robbery is not of a bank, but a very well-planned robbery of an investment fund that manages the money of millions of people for their pensions. The execution of the robbery in the first episode is excellent, but it is not something new. It uses the usual codes: a group of well-trained assailants who take over the investment fund and force the employees with the power to carry out transactions to execute them on the spot.

Next comes the police investigation, this time led by a gambling-addicted and somewhat cocky cop. I didn't like his character very much. Everyone must be a suspect, because the thieves knew how everything worked, so surely someone on the inside was involved. In each episode, the plot thickens, which is the intention of the story, to make us wonder what the hell is going on, because it seems that the MI5 secret service is also investigating or perhaps involved.

Sophie Turner handles the pressure well and makes a good impression in this miniseries, in which she plays the lead role. Her character is called Zara Dunne and she works at an investment fund. She is a very intelligent woman, but she has her problems, she is not taken seriously, and she suffers from frustrations in life. She does not get along with her mother, who is an old woman who works as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital and is also a bitch, but, on the other hand, Zoe is not exactly a saint either.

She gets caught up in the whole complex plot of the robbery, which we quickly discover and which is shown to us in several flashbacks. I liked her performance, although I also think she has changed quite a bit. The actress has been working a lot, in some projects better than others, but it's clear that she doesn't want to be typecast forever as Sansa Stark, even though it was the role that launched her to fame and will be linked to her forever. By the way, a series about Lara Croft is in the works and she will be the lead. I think she'll do well, although she probably won't escape criticism from fans of the video game.

Archie Madekwe plays Luke, Zoe's coworker. I don't like the character; he's a whiner, but he's not that likable either; he's actually just another jerk. I think the actor does a good job; that's just how the character is. The one I didn't like so much was Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as Detective Covaci. I wasn't convinced by him as a cop tormented by his gambling addiction.

The supervillains of the heist were fine, including actor Andrew Howard, who has played the villain in many stories; his son of a bitch face helps. In these gangs of thieves, there's always one who's pretty crazy. It's a cliché in these kinds of stories, and this time, the paranoid guy who's lost his mind is this guy.

Who is behind all this? The robbery shakes up the financial system and even political leaders are screwed. To find out who is the mastermind behind all this and what their intentions are, you have to watch it until the end.

Estoy viendo algunas series ligeras, que son buenas para matar el tiempo y también entretenidas, y Steal acaba de estrenarse en Amazon Prime. El tráiler me convenció para verla. Es un thriller sobre un atraco financiero, y el primer episodio es muy bueno, se pasa volando y mantiene la tensión durante todo el metraje. El segundo episodio también me convenció para verla entera.

Ahora bien, los tres primeros episodios y la mitad del cuarto son los que más me han gustado, porque a partir de algunas cosas que suceden en el cuarto episodio, a pesar de mantener el interés por saber quién demonios está detrás de todo, es hacia el final donde, en mi opinión, se queda corto en varios aspectos. Los dos últimos episodios no están mal; tienen su parte de tensión y acción para cerrar la trama, pero quizá yo esperaba un final diferente.

Sigue siendo un producto que ofrece entretenimiento. Si te gustan las historias sobre robos y el misterio de descubrir, junto con los protagonistas, quién lo organizó. En este caso, el robo no es a un banco, sino un robo muy bien planeado a un fondo de inversión que maneja el dinero de millones de personas para sus pensiones. La ejecución del robo en el primer episodio es excelente, pero no es algo nuevo. Utiliza los códigos habituales: un grupo de asaltantes bien entrenados que se apoderan del fondo de inversión y obligan a los empleados con poder para realizar transacciones a ejecutarlas allí mismo.

A continuación viene la investigación policial, esta vez dirigida por un policía adicto al juego y algo engreído. No me gustó mucho su personaje. Todo el mundo debe ser sospechoso, porque los ladrones sabían cómo funcionaba todo, por lo que seguramente alguien de dentro estaba involucrado. En cada episodio, la trama se complica más, que es la intención de la historia, para hacernos preguntarnos qué diablos está pasando, porque parece que el servicio secreto MI5 también está investigando o quizás involucrado.

Sophie Turner maneja bien la presión y causa una buena impresión en esta miniserie, en la que interpreta el papel principal. Su personaje se llama Zara Dunne y trabaja en un fondo de inversión. Es una mujer muy inteligente, pero tiene sus problemas, no la toman en serio y sufre frustraciones en la vida. No se lleva bien con su madre, que es una vieja que trabaje de enfermera en un psiquiátrico y tambien es una hija de puta, pero, por otra parte, Zoe tampoco es precisamente una santa.

Se ve envuelta en toda la compleja trama del robo, que descubrimos rápidamente y que se nos muestra en varios flashbacks. Me gustó su interpretación, aunque también la veo bastante cambiada. La actriz ha estado trabajando mucho, en algunos proyectos mejor que en otros, pero está claro que no quiere que la encasillen para siempre como Sansa Stark, aunque fue el papel que la lanzó a la fama y que estará vinculado a ella para siempre. Por cierto, se está preparando una serie sobre Lara Croft y ella será la protagonista. Creo que lo hará bien, aunque seguramente no escapará a las críticas de los fans del videojuego.

Archie Madekwe interpreta a Luke, el compañero de trabajo de Zoe. No me gusta el personaje; es un quejica, aunque tampoco es tan simpático; en realidad es otro idiota. Creo que el actor hace un buen trabajo; así es el personaje. El que no me gustó tanto fue Jacob Fortune-Lloyd como el detective Covaci. No me convenció como policía atormentado por su adicción al juego.

Los supervillanos del robo estaban bien, entre ellos el actor Andrew Howard, que ha interpretado al villano en muchas historias, su cara de hijo de puta ayuda. En estas bandas de ladrones siempre hay uno que está bastante loco. Es un cliché en este tipo de historias, y esta vez, el paranoico que ha perdido la cabeza es este tipo.

I was disappointed by Yorgos Lanthimos' last two films. I didn't like Poor Creatures at all, and Kinds of Kindness didn't impress me. That's why I had put off watching Bugonia, which stars Emma Stone again and also features Jesse Plemons. I think I was reluctant to be disappointed again by a director whose early films I found brilliant.

This time, I felt something of the Lanthimos that captivated me in the past. Although this film is a remake, the original is Korean and I've never seen it, but when I looked it up, I saw that it was quite a successful film and I think this one has been well received because the original material was already good. He works packing products at Auxolith, a large pharmaceutical company, and also spends time beekeeping with his cousin Don, another young man who is not normal. These two are like a version of Dumb and Dumber, but in a horror version.

This pair of idiots believe that the president of the pharmaceutical company is an alien from Andromeda who has come to destroy the planet, and that they will be the saviors. So they kidnap Michelle to force her to confess and arrange a meeting with the emperor of Andromeda. They have it all planned out, and that's where the story gets even more deranged.

I loved seeing Emma Stone with her head shaved and covered in body cream. The kidnapping and crazy interrogations make us hate Teddy and his cousin. There's a lot of torture and physical violence, which increases the tension at certain moments. While the police search for the missing businesswoman, they hope to force her to take them to their mothership on the day of the next eclipse. Absorbed in what they believe to be reality, they are two first-class morons.

There is a clear satire of the conspiracy theories that are currently spreading around the world via the Internet. Let's remember that there are still people who say that the Earth is flat, so why not believe that there are crazy people like the ones in this movie who believe that aliens are about to destroy the world? Las dos últimas películas de Yorgos Lanthimos me decepcionaron. No me gustó nada Poor Creatures, y Kinds of Kindness no me impresionó. Absortos en lo que creen que es la realidad, son dos subnormales de primera.

Hay una clara sátira de las teorías conspirativas que actualmente se están difundiendo por todo el mundo a través de Internet. One of the movies I hadn't seen last year was Eden. I got to see it this weekend, and even though I had read some negative reviews, I liked the story. What surprised me is that it's based on real events. Events that I knew nothing about, and after seeing the movie, I started looking for information about this case in the Galapagos Islands.

The people portrayed in this film existed in real life. Currently, there are no survivors. The last one died in 2000, and as the opening credits of the film say, the story shown on screen is a recreation based on the testimonies of those who survived. Although it seems that they were faithful to most of the events narrated, there are also things that are completely fictional, especially the great mystery of everything that happened when hell broke loose in that paradise, and that the last people who lived through it have left this world. I believe they left books explaining what happened.

Something I really liked about the film is how it portrays our human nature. I've said it countless times: we are ruthless beings. In the past, in ancient times, our survival instinct led us to commit violent acts. It has always been this way, which is why I laugh at all those who proclaim that we are good people. No. We all have goodness and evil within us. We are all capable of committing horrible acts if we find ourselves in danger; we are all capable of doing the unimaginable to protect our loved ones.

The story takes place on the island of Florence, located in the Galapagos. After the Great Depression of 1929 and with World War II already brewing, Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his German wife, Dore Strauch, move to these beautiful and unspoiled islands, which seem like an earthly paradise, to live in solitude. Damn it. The doctor wants to be alone, but people come and disturb his peace. That's where the first problems begin, which will intensify when a certain baroness named Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn arrives on the island, with that grand European-style surname, but this woman is quite horny and with her are her two young lovers with whom she enjoys doing dirty and naughty things.

This is what I liked about the movie, how it shows us our true colors, being on an island where, with the arrival of the baroness, there were only ten inhabitants, which made peaceful coexistence impossible. Because of selfishness, ambition, deception, lies, all those things that divide us. That's how things are, that's how they were before, that's how they are now. Or are you going to tell me, reader, that you are a being of light who is friends with everyone? I assure you, dear reader, that you have neighbors in your neighborhood or building whom you don't greet, whom you dislike, whom you can't stand. Don't fool yourself into pretending to be a very good person, because in reality we all have our dark side.

The film also discredits all those leftist hippie ideas about peace and love, about living together as brothers and sisters, sharing our things, letting go of our whims, tastes, and possessions. That's just a deception, a bunch of lies wrapped up in ideology. The reality will always be that when we are pushed to our most primitive state. When man punches us in the gut, when peaceful coexistence becomes impossible, the anger we all have latent in those moments will explode. From our origins, strength and violence have been part of us.

The film may be a little long, but with this tremendous cast and seeing how everything becomes more violent, I didn't mind. I liked what Ron Howard did with this story. Perhaps another filmmaker more skilled at dark stories would have done better, but I liked the end result and include it among my favorites from last year.

Las personas retratadas en esta película existieron en la vida real. Actualmente, no hay supervivientes. El último murió en 2000 y, como dice el crédito inicial de la película, la historia que se muestra en pantalla es una recreación basada en los testimonios de los que sobrevivieron. Aunque parece que fueron fieles a la mayoría de los hechos narrados, también hay cosas que son completamente ficticias, especialmente el gran misterio de todo lo que sucedió cuando se desató el infierno en ese paraíso, y que las últimas personas que lo vivieron han dejado este mundo. Por el egoísmo, la ambición, el engaño, las mentiras, todas esas cosas que nos dividen. Así son las cosas, así eran antes, así son ahora. ¿O me vas a decir, lector, que eres un ser de luz que es amigo de todos? Te aseguro, querido lector, que tienes vecinos en tu barrio o edificio a los que no saludas, que te caen mal, que no soportas. No te engañes fingiendo ser una persona muy buena, porque en realidad todos tenemos nuestro lado oscuro.

La película también desacredita todas esas ideas hippies de izquierda sobre la paz y el amor, sobre vivir juntos como hermanos y hermanas, compartir nuestras cosas, desprendernos de nuestros caprichos, gustos y posesiones. Eso es solo un engaño, un montón de mentiras envueltas en ideología. La realidad siempre será que cuando nos empujan a nuestro estado más primitivo. Cuando el hombre nos golpea en el estómago, cuando la coexistencia pacífica se vuelve imposible, la ira que todos tenemos latente en essos momentos explotará, desde nuestros origenes, la fuerza y la violencia han sido parte de nosotros.

La película puede ser un poco larga, pero con este tremendo reparto y viendo cómo todo se vuelve más violento, no me importó. Me gustó lo que Ron Howard hizo con esta historia. Quizás otro cineasta más hábil en historias oscuras lo habría hecho mejor, pero me gustó el resultado final y la incluyo entre mis favoritas del año pasado.

A clear example of what not to do. The critics (who, in my opinion, are paid) who praise this miniseries are really first-rate sycophants. I understand that there are tastes for all audiences and, of course, there will be people who, when consuming this miniseries, may like it, but those praises that come from professionals who write on major websites. The lesson I take away from watching this story is that I will never again watch anything created by Megan Gallagher. By the way, I don't know if it's the same Megan who is an actress, but I think it's another Megan. I don't want to see anything else from this screenwriter, because with this miniseries I have found myself watching a soap opera disguised as a thriller.

Eight unbearable episodes. This is unforgivable. It's a story designed to waste the viewer's time. The most decent part is the first episode, which starts right away with the central conflict, but what comes next is a parade of unbearable, stupid, and boring characters who don't stand out. The screenwriter and creator wants to convey a feminist message, portraying the men in these two women's lives as selfish, concerned only with themselves, who do not help their wives and instead reproach them, etc. Here, the good man is the Latino police officer, of course, the epitome of goodness. They even add an episode in which we see what a good father and husband he is, but it is an unnecessary family drama for the conflict and resolution of the story, just annoying filler.

It is difficult to feel sympathy for characters who are also all pretentious, because they are rich, full of privileges, and their stress comes from not knowing which coffee to choose at Starbucks.

The disappearance of the child and the desire to add plot twists, mystery, not knowing who is behind it, the motives, etc., all lack emotion. But we'll leave the worst for last, when the motives for the child's kidnapping are explained, who the woman behind it really is. Something totally absurd.

It premiered a few days ago on Netflix, the platform that generates both love and hate. What motivated me to give it a chance were its stars, Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson. If it weren't for them leading this story, I wouldn't have bothered to watch a single minute. I first saw the trailer and realized that it has that look that all Netflix series have. It's that feeling that all of their original productions seem to use the same cinematographer, because they all look the same. I don't know if it's just me or if others have that feeling too.

That detail gave me a bad feeling, but when I looked it up on the Internet and saw that it was an adaptation of one of those books they call best sellers, although that's not synonymous with being a good product, because sometimes those best-selling books are complete trash. But still, with these two actors in the lead roles, it could be something decent to watch.

Without being anything extraordinary, I at least found it entertaining. A thriller with murders to solve, where the protagonists are also the main suspects. I liked how they played with us, the viewers, making us suspect both of them. Another thing I appreciate is that it only has six episodes, which I thought was wonderful. I'm tired of watching some series or miniseries that are torture, whose premise doesn't go any further, and all they do is drag out the episodes with unnecessary nonsense. This one is short, and six episodes are enough.

Added to this is the fact that the victim liked to sleep with many men, including Jack, and everything becomes complicated, and we begin to suspect everyone.

The use of flashbacks is the device that will gradually shed light on the characters' pasts and the motive behind the murders that are being committed. Surprising revelations, new evidence, characters trying to cover their tracks—all of this makes the series quite entertaining, and of course, just when everything seems to be resolved, we are thrown a final surprise twist.

I liked it, but that doesn't mean that some situations didn't seem a little implausible to me, but it's that kind of thriller and I found it entertaining thanks to the two main characters, which is what makes you want to finish it. It's not something that will leave you speechless and stick in your memory, but as a product of entertainment for the general public, I recommend it.

Si no fuera por ellos liderando esta historia, no me habría molestado en ver ni un minuto. Primero vi el tráiler y me di cuenta de que tiene ese aspecto que tienen todas las series de Netflix. Es esa sensación de que todas sus producciones originales parecen utilizar al mismo director de fotografía, porque todas se ven iguales. No sé si soy solo yo o si otros también tienen esa sensación.

Ese detalle me dio mala espina, pero cuando lo busqué en Internet y vi que era una adaptación de uno de esos libros que llaman best sellers, aunque eso no es sinónimo de que sea un buen producto, porque a veces esos libros superventas son una auténtica basura. Pero aun así, con estos dos actores en los papeles principales, podría ser algo decente para ver.

Sin ser nada extraordinario, al menos me pareció un buen entretenimiento. Un thriller con asesinatos que resolver y donde los protagonistas son también los principales sospechosos. Me gustó que jueguen con nosotros, los espectadores, haciéndonos sospechar de ambos. Otra cosa que aprecio es que solo tiene seis episodios, lo cual me pareció maravilloso. Estoy cansado de ver algunas series o miniseries que son una tortura, cuya premisa no va más allá, y lo único que hacen es alargar los episodios con tonterías innecesarias. Esta es corta, y seis episodios son suficientes.

La historia tiene lugar en un pueblo llamado Dahlonega, en algún lugar cerca de Atlanta. Anna y Jack están casados, pero ella lo dejó hace bastante tiempo tras una tragedia familiar, que se nos revela a medida que avanza la historia. Me gustó, pero eso no significa que algunas situaciones no me parecieran un poco inverosímiles, pero es ese tipo de thriller y lo encontré entretenido gracias a los dos personajes principales, que es lo que te hace querer terminarlo. No es algo que te vaya a dejar boquiabierto y se te quede grabado en la memoria, pero como producto de entretenimiento para el gran público, lo recomiendo.

Hey guys, it's a pleasure to be here to talk to you about a movie I saw that I found exceptional. It's not your typical love story, drama, superhero tale, or story of princes and princesses on white horses.

I'm referring to the movie "Incendies" (2010). Known in Spanish as The Woman Who Sang, it's a Canadian film and, to my surprise, it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

It's a raw narrative that, while not a true story, is inspired by real events and people. The film is based on the play by Lebanese-Canadian author Wajdi Mouawad, who portrays the life of a Lebanese activist named Souha Bechara.

The film's historical context is the Lebanese Civil War. Throughout the film, we follow the difficult circumstances faced by the main character, Nawal, who from a young age has had to deal with a series of heartbreaking situations in the midst of a country in conflict. We notice that the narrative does not follow a linear path; as we progress through the plot, we become more immersed in the story and become investigators of the events, which is very exciting. As viewers, we begin to formulate our own conjectures about how the events unfolded, but as we advance, we discover that not everything is as it seems.

It's not the best movie in the world, but it will make you reflect on maternal love, the horrors of war, life's circumstances, and how complex it can be to live amidst such atrocities.

It's worth watching, not only to be horrified by the cruelty of some situations, but also to learn that beyond everything, there are things worth living for. It truly is a film for reflection.

Grace's behavior from the beginning is not really abnormal, so she is a little crazy and anxious before feeling frustrated because her life has changed after giving birth. She's a very sexy woman, she really likes to fuck, but as in many marriages, after the super hot stage, when the kids come along, things change, and Jackson, played by Pattinson, no longer seems to have any sexual desire for her, even though she always tries to cheer him up, that man is no longer turned on by his wife.

Here, the flawed storytelling becomes apparent, because the director keeps inserting flashbacks and dream sequences, products of Grace's imagination, creating a mixture that I found tiresome, boring, and which made me lose interest. I understand that his intention is to show the mental anguish a woman can experience after having her baby, living in that house, taking care of the home, wanting to have sex while her husband (who I can't remember what the hell he does for a living) seems to be having sex with other women, except her.

Jennifer Lawrence's performance has been highly praised, and it's not bad, but many of her scenes and the things her character does seemed so exaggerated to me that I feel no sympathy for her. If the director's idea is for us to feel compassion for this woman, he only managed to make me reject her, and she would be a crazy woman I would decide to stay as far away from as possible.

I kept watching it just to see how the story ended, but I had a hard time finishing it. I don't know, maybe it wasn't the right time to watch it, but it's one of the worst movies of the year. Not even Jennifer Lawrence's boobs can save it from being a total disaster.

La actuación de Jennifer Lawrence ha sido muy elogiada, y no está mal, pero muchas de sus escenas y las cosas que hace su personaje me parecieron tan exageradas que no siento ninguna simpatía por ella. Si la idea del director es que sintamos compasión por esta mujer, solo consiguió mi rechazo, y sería una loca de la que decidiría mantenerme lo más alejado posible.

What the hell is real, what is fantasy? Is Alex going crazy, or does he really have some kind of power to have premonitions? Is it just him, or is it something that's part of his family's legacy? Many questions arise, and chapter after chapter, we learn more about his life, his past, who he dates, who his neighbors really are, and, above all, that great danger that seems to stalk them all in Tremor and that they find impossible to change.

Is what is written in the book of destiny immutable? Can it not be changed, no matter what you do? These questions are very interesting and one of the reasons why I kept wondering where this story would go, always eager to see where the filmmaker would introduce his plot twists to leave us speechless.

I enjoyed the story, despite being one of the most skeptical people in the world, although I must also clarify that it is not Oril Paulo's best. There are details that I didn't like at all. One of them is the damn length of the series. There are eight episodes, but since the pace isn't that fast and it takes its time for many things, it ends up being very long. The ideal way to tell this story would have been with a few well-condensed episodes. These decisions about how many episodes there are are always the result of negotiations between the production company and the creators.

There is one episode focused on a subplot of the story that I found completely unnecessary. It's not a bad episode, I even liked it, but if I analyze it in terms of the story as a whole, it ends up being filler material. I find it excessive that they devote so much time to a trauma from the past of Judy, Alec's girlfriend in Tremos, who loves to do naughty things in bed all the time. A woman like that is what we all want, someone who asks us to do dirty things all the time. But her trauma, besides being quite sadistic, doesn't really have any weight in the central story. For me, this was like a concession to feminist propaganda. Simple as that.

And boy, did I have to like the story to be able to stand seeing the insufferable face of actor Willy Toledo. I detest this repugnant man, and I'm breaking my rule of not caring about actors' personal lives, but this bastard is a communist and an activist who defends the Cuban and Venezuelan dictatorships. He plays Leo, Alec's neighbor, who is married to Maria. Fortunately, they gave him a dark character, just like that piece of shit in real life.

Pasé por alto esta serie cuando se estrenó y no entiendo por qué no la vi. Entre tantas producciones, acabó quedando en el olvido, hasta que hace poco alguien me la recordó y no dudé en verla.

Si Oriol Paulo participa en una producción, escribiendo el guion y dirigiendo, tengo que verla porque me encanta su estilo narrativo, especialmente los thrillers, ya que es un cineasta al que le gusta incluir muchos giros argumentales en sus historias.

¿Es inmutable lo que está escrito en el libro del destino? ¿No se puede cambiar, hagas lo que hagas? Estas preguntas son muy interesantes y una de las razones por las que me mantuve preguntándome hacia dónde iría esta historia, siempre expectante por ver dónde introduciría el cineasta sus giros argumentales para dejarnos sin palabras.

Disfruté de la historia, a pesar de ser una de las personas más escépticas del mundo, aunque también debo aclarar que no es la mejor de Oril Paulo. Hay detalles que no me han gustado del todo. Uno de ellos es la maldita duración de la serie. Son ocho episodios, pero como el ritmo no es tan rápido y se toma su tiempo para muchas cosas, acaba siendo muy larga. La forma ideal de contar esta historia habría sido con unos pocos episodios bien condensados. Estas decisiones sobre cuántos episodios hay son siempre el resultado de negociaciones entre la productora y los creadores.

Catching up on the series created by Steven Knight, I watched the first season of A Thousand Blows and also found it to be excellent entertainment. I already mentioned in the post about House of Guinness that this filmmaker continued with the visual style of Peaky Blinders, and that style is also reflected in A Thousand Blows, making it very visually striking.

From the outset, we are immersed in the story, with two Jamaicans arriving in London's East End to try to improve their lives. Hezekiah is the protagonist and believes he is going to be hired as a lion tamer at a zoo, but disappointment awaits him. Fate brings him and his friend Alec together with Mary Carr, a woman who leads a gang of professional thieves called The Forty Elephants, or at least what appears to be a faction of a larger gang.

The search for money to survive in that wild, dirty, and dangerous London, especially for two black foreigners, pushes them to participate in organized fights in a pub owned by Sugar Goodson, an extremely violent boxer and mobster. It is the meeting of these three main characters that triggers everything that happens in the season.

The surprising thing about this is that it is inspired by real characters and events.
In real life, these characters existed; the gang of women and Mary Carr were real. Of course, the creator of the series adds fiction to create a very entertaining story, since, like his other productions, it maintains a good pace, scenes of violence, and also adds other elements, such as class differences, racism, and all those things that immigrants have to suffer when they arrive in a country where racial differences are very evident. A Danish immigrant is not the same as a Jamaican immigrant.

I'm not a fan of boxing, I don't like the sport, but I do like to watch it in movies or series. The Rocky saga and the movie Raging Bull, for example, are movies that I love and are set in that world. In the case of this series, it is set in a time when this sport was beginning to enter the upper echelons of London society, and when people who came from underground fighting could earn money, as is the case with the protagonist of the story, Hezekiah, about whom it is difficult to find information on the real character.

I found a website that, before the series premiered, was dedicated to compiling information about this real-life character, and it's very interesting to see how much information is missing. Perhaps that's why the series creator also had to take what was available and invent many other things.

I like the actor Malachi Kirby, who plays Hezekiah Moscow, who manages to win over the viewer, but the ones who stand out the most are Stephen Graham as the violent Sugar Goodson. He trained hard for his physical transformation and looks terrifying. He is a first-rate actor; everything he does, he does brilliantly. The other standout is Erin Doherty, who plays Mary Carr, damn her. She's my favorite character in the series. The actress, like Graham, will be recognized for the miniseries Teenage. Here she confirms once again that she has extraordinary acting talent. By the end of the episodes, I didn't even care what happened to Hezekiah, I just wanted to know how Mary Carr would end up.

The last episode ends with a cliffhanger, but don't worry, right after the credits roll, there are previews for the second season, which means they had already filmed the second batch of episodes. And I have more good news: the trailer for the second season was released at the end of 2025, because apparently the idea was to release it last year, but they left it for now, for 2026. I haven't looked up the release date, but it's probably not too far off, since they're promoting the trailer, so we'll soon find out how the whole story ends.

La actriz, al igual que Graham, será reconocida por la miniserie Teenage. Aquí confirma una vez más que tiene un talento interpretativo extraordinario. Al final de los episodios, ni siquiera me importaba lo que le pasara a Hezekiah, solo quería saber cómo acabaría Mary Carr.

En el último episodio hay un buen cliffhanger, pero no te preocupes, justo después de los créditos aparecen los avances de la segunda temporada, lo que significa que ya habían rodado la segunda tanda de episodios, y tengo más buenas noticias: el tráiler de la segunda temporada se estrenó a finales de 2025, porque al parecer la idea era estrenarla el año pasado, pero la dejaron para ahora, para 2026. No he buscado la fecha de estreno, pero probablemente no esté muy lejos, ya que están promocionando el tráiler, así que pronto sabremos cómo termina toda la historia.
