A week or two back, I watched Dune Part 1, and it was a beautiful experience. Although I was late to the part; but I enjoyed every bit of it. My plan was to watch Dune Part 2, as soon as possible, however, it took me some time. But here I am.

It is 1:00 AM in the midnight. I have just finished it, like five minutes back. And as usual, there is so much to talk about, to think about. But the first thing I regret is: not being able to watch this experience on IMAX cinema. Secondly, I might be going insane, but I believe after "Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit," I have never been addicted to a movie this way. Do not mind me, a nuclear fission reaction is going on in my mind. Ideas are in constant bombardment, while I am still trying to make a sense of everything.

Here to the movie

After watching it, I have come to a conclusion - Arrakis is not a place where anyone goes for something peaceful. Even the emperor is not safe there.

There is sand everywhere, giant worms beneath the ground, people who believe in prophecies, powerful houses and dukes, and basic human struggle for power through any means.

The Starting Point

The story continues after the destruction of House Atreides. (I had to write these names and things in my note, names are quite hard to remember, lol)

“The Battle for Arrakis had no witnesses. There was no warning and no declaration of war. By morning, House Atreides was no more.”

Alas! The Emeperor's daughter, who recorded those words, did not know that Paul was still alive. Not just alive, he has transformed into something new. Like the young Paul, we met in the first film was all doubtful and experiencing uncertain and wild things. He was mostly unknown to the ways - practically - of Fermens.

The Harkonnens

The Harkonnens are still horrible. And no offense to Mr.Skarsgard, baron vladimir is still the ugliest and uncomfortable character for me. He is creepy.

Irrespective of body-shaming, though the character deserves it, the household is the realistic of all. Their society seems to follow one simple and universal rule: power belongs to whoever is strong enough to take it. Or simply, "Might is right" phenomena. Not to yap with the analysis, but it reminds me of Thomas Hobbes's "brutish" term for human life.

Lisan al-Gaib

Our protagonist, Paul has learnt the ways of Fermen. And, by all means, he deserves to be called a protagonist. All credit to the writer and his brilliant acting. The bestest thing about him? It is his transformation. From all doubtful to all set. Just one drink, and he has become "Eren Yeager."

To the Fermen, he is the "Mahdi", the "Lisan al-Gaib," the promised leader who will guide them and bring back the "Green Paradise." And, they have waited for this person, for this moment for generations.

To continue with his transformation, Paul does not immediately accept the role. In fact, he appears to disguise it, halfway through the movie. Maybe he just wanted to protect the world from his "dreams becoming reality" sort of thing. However, once people start to believe there is no coming back. His killing of Jamis had already decided his fate ahead.

Paul is now called "Muad'Dib and Usul," meaning a small desert mouse. The one who points the way. I found this name fascinating. The world is big, and our hero is still learning his ways; but still, he has ways to survive, to lead, and at the same time, to love.

Sihaya

Even Chani, itself, is such a beautiful name for me. But Sihaya? Impressed! The meaning behind it? THE DESERT SPRING

She is not simply there because every hero apparently needs a love story. She, the only one, who challenges and questions Paul. She keeps on reminding him that Fermen are real people, not just an army waiting for a general to lead. Even, in the end, her rebellious nature was quite visible.

Oh yes, the small mouse and the desert spring kissed. It was a beautiful moment.

After all, romance and attraction is also part of human nature.

Reverend Mothers

They were playing a big role in the whole context. But, my focus was one thing, they are responsible for holding the memories of those who came before them. And they have the power to control people through their strange voice maybe or hallucination, whatever that power was.

"Power over spice is power over all."

Though, we had already established the fact that the Emperor helped destroy House Atreides. Reason? Well Paul's father was kind and weak. However, that guy gave birth to someone - who is now acting as an Emperor. Revenge taken well. But, I believe, Paul is just bounded by the faith. And not by his urge for revenge only. He wanted to escape this fate; he keeps on refusing to go to South. But faith had decided something else.

By the way, there are weapons, in Paul's custody, enough to destroy worlds.

Weak Points

The pacing is the biggest flaw. I get it that there is time limit, and it is a movie, not a tv show. But still, better skip some extras than pacing up everything. As an example, for two-third of the movie Paul rejects every possible way of being declared a Messiah. However, within few minutes, he is just a new person. Was it the drinks effect, or the Jamis's Jinn? I will have to look into it, but overall pacing was not something which I liked.

Then there is another thing: our protagonist and the fermen never suffer any significant loss. There is a water filled up of their martyred/dead people, but they are losing anyone. Moreover, they win every battle with no to little struggle. Even the final battle felt so rushed.

The cinematography is beautiful

Being honest, I do not want to end such a masterpiece, as I have compared it with the peakest peaks LOTR, with some negative talking. Back to the positive points, the desert feels endless. Sometimes, all the time, characters look tiny against the massive landscape. The action scenes are large and people feel like little ants. The visuals never feel like they are there only to show off. The movie deserves every credit for its cinemetography. And more importantly, Paul riding such a giant worm was a peak fun for me. No double meanings :)

The cast

Timothee Chalamet makes Paul’s transformation believable. He begins as someone trying to survive and ends as someone capable of changing the entire worlds order. Zendaya gives Chani strength and independence, while Rebecca Ferguson continues to make every conversation feel like a hidden plan is already happening.

And Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha?

Man, he literally nailed his role. He was strange, unsettling, and someone who looked like someone without any peaceful thoughts. Him acknowledging Paul as a great fighter was the most peaceful experience.

Now all eyes are onto the third part. And of course, doors are much more larger than the part 1.

This thing should be declared illegal. I really want to see the third part, as soon as possible. Yes, I can read about it. But, I do not want to spoil all the fun.

I don't want power over spice or armies. I just want to watch the ending.

But the power to make us impatient for the next film.

This series is categorized as drama and soap opera on IMDB. Drama yes, but soap opera is definitely not what I usually watch, so this is definitely a huge exception for me. The reason I started watching it was because I was really tired and was not in the mood to torture my mind with something heavy and serious, so I gave it a chance. Currently I'm watching season 3 and even though I'm watching other movies in the meantime, it's still interesting. or should I say funny? Let's see.

A rich powerful family who owns multiple businesses and live in the USA try to do everything that they can to maintain their status. Along the way, they experience multiple adventures and multiple challenges. Along the way, they also learn the true definitions of family, friends, and love.

This is the storyline on IMDB, but this doesn't even begin to cover what you're seeing in this series.

The series starts with Fallon arriving home after her father asked her to, being convinced she's going to be made COO of the company. Instead, a huge surprise is waiting for her. Her father has a new fiance, who's being named as CEO, instead of Fallon. You can guess the disappointment Fallon was feeling, but she's not the compromising, giving in type, so you're guessing correctly that revenge was her answer.

As I mentioned, I'm currently watching season 3 and the twists and turns you see in this series is mind blowing.

You know I grew up in a family where if you don't stab someone in the back before dinner, you don't get dessert. - Fallon Carrington in Dynasty

I posted this quote from Fallon on Snaps, that describes perfectly what these two families are up to most of the times.

What sets this series apart from the pack is its humor and acting. If you can detach yourself, or your feelings is a better word, from what's happening and enjoy what you see, you're going to have a good time.

Casting Elizabeth Gillies in Fallon Carrington's role was the best decision they could do. I've never seen her playing in anything, but it looked like this role was written for her. They could have not find a better actor to play Fallon. She has all the qualities such a role requires and I love every minute with her.

It wouldn't be fair on my behalf, to only mention Elizabeth Gillies, as there were others just as brilliant as her. Alan Dale had an excellent performance playing Joseph Anders, Rafael de la Fuente as well, playing Sam Jones. These characters are well written and add a lot of value to the series. There are annoying characters as well, as in every series, which is long enough to have the chance to see the characters for hours, but I guess that's a personal opinion and you may not think the same way about them.

It is the type of show where you think this can't be more complicated, but the writers always prove you wrong. There's always another twist or turn, to complicate the already bad situation further.

As usually happens, these people are loyal to two things, which is money and power. No matter who you have to stab in the back, it totally worth it if it helps you reach your goal.

Now you may think we've seen this so many times as there are tones of such series, but the difference between them is the humor and acting. The writers tried to make it funny and entertaining and succeeded in my opinion.

With some pauses, some short, some longer, I'm going to watch the whole series, which is 5 seasons, because it totally worth it, but again, you should not take it seriously, if you want to enjoy it.

The Power of the Dog is a love story. That’s probably not how most people would describe the film,  but love is the driving force of the four main characters. However, as Shakespeare  showed us in Othello, love can be a powerful and dangerous motivation.

The movie raises the question, “What will one do for love?” The Power of the Dog is, in a sense, a response to that question. The main characters are two brothers, a widow and the widow’s son.

The brothers are Phil and George--Benedict Cumberbatch and Jesse Plemons. The widow and her son are Rose and Peter--Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit-McPhee. These four characters carry the plot, although Cumberbatch brings the greatest energy.

Phil is constantly saying, “Wait for George.” He won’t start anything without George. He is emotionally dependent on his brother, and yet he calls George ‘Fatso’. Phil would like to bully his brother, but George seems impassive and unmoved by whatever Phil does.

The two men are rich ranchers in Montana. Very early in the film we follow them on a cattle drive. They arrive at a town and stop with their ranch hands at a restaurant for dinner. This is where we meet the widow, Rose. She is the cook who serves dinner. Her son, Peter, helps.

Peter is a slim, ethereal figure. As he walks gracefully around the dining room Phil berates him, calls him a Nancy. Phil is loud, brutal and crude. All the while George sits at the head of the table, watching, saying nothing. When the dinner is over, Phil leaves with the other men and George stays behind to settle the bill.

He hears Rose crying in the kitchen. He goes in to comfort her, and to apologize for Phil’s behavior. He puts his hand on her shoulder, which seems like a bold move for him. He takes to visiting Rose and soon the two are married. He tells Phil nothing about this ceremony until a week after the wedding.

Phil is stunned, furious. To him Rose is a schemer, a usurper. She literally takes his place. She now shares the bedroom with George. Phil listens to their night noises. He hears Rose brushing her teeth. He hears husband and wife as they make love in their marital bed.

Phil is determined to crush Rose. We learn that he is brilliant, where George is not. Phil graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale. George could not make it through college. Phil has the wit and the will to destroy the marriage. However, Rose has an underestimated ally: Peter, her son.

At the very beginning of the marriage Peter is in medical school. When he comes home for the summer he notes what has transpired. His mother drinks in the daytime. She barely gets out of bed. Phil has shredded her self esteem.

Peter seems innocent, naive, soft. This is how Phil sees him. But there is more to Peter than that. This is the boy who had to cut his father down from a rope—a suicide. His father was an alcoholic. Drank, as Peter explains to Phil, up to the end.

Peter tells Phil that his father gave him advice before he died: Life is about obstacles, removing obstacles. This becomes a prophetic statement.

Almost like characters in a Greek drama, Phil, George, Rose and Peter are set in their roles at this point in the film. They move toward what seems to be an inevitable conclusion. The four of them are tied together in a dynamic of conflicting loves.

George loves Rose. Phil, in his own distorted way, loves George. Peter loves his mother. There is a final element, a secret love that seals the fate for all of them. We learn about this love as the film progresses.

As someone who appreciates good writing I have to say I love this script. It is lean, and organized. There is a principle in story writing known as ‘Chekhov’s gun’. Promulgated by the Russian author, Anton Checkov, the principle is this: if an author introduces an element early in a story—say, a gun--that element, the gun, has to appear meaningfully later in the story.

There is a moment, in one of the movie’s first scenes, in which the camera focuses on a coiled rope. It’s a passing instant, easy to miss. But the rope, especially a coiled rope, becomes a motif throughout the film and most importantly at the end of the film.

This movie is really, really good. The writing, the acting—all topnotch. I won’t say watching the movie is a pleasant experience. Phil’s bullying, especially of Rose, is upsetting. She crumbles under the abuse. As discomfiting as parts of the film may be to the viewer, though, the movie is riveting, and certainly unforgettable.

Some interesting data points:

Plemons and Dunst are married in real life. This made their scenes together more interesting for me to watch.

The move is set in Montana, but was shot in New Zealand.

Joan Campion was writer and director. She lives in New Zealand.

The title of the film is a quote from Psalm 22. Jesus is said to have spoken these words from the cross as he implored the Lord to help him:

Deliver me from the sword,     my precious life from the power of the dogs.

Release date of the movie as 2021. Run time is 2 hours and 8 minutes. I watched it on Netflix.

The horror craze continues in 2026, and while many will wait until October (Halloween) to binge-watch these films, in my case, that's impossible because these movies are generating so much buzz due to their apparent quality. Obsession, Backrooms, Leviticus, and now it's Evil Dead Burn's turn, the sixth installment in this saga that has been delivering horror films for over 10 years. Horror can be conceived in various ways; for example, with Leviticus, my previous review, we see it in a more paranoid and passionate way; with these Evil Dead films, the genre is much more direct, raw, and therefore more effective. As I say in the title, perhaps this film is one of the best examples of what horror can be.

Sigue el auge del terror en este 2026 y aunque muchos esperarán a Octubre (Halloween) para lanzarse el maratón completo de estos films en mi caso es imposible hacer eso porque son películas que están dando de que hablar por su aparente calidad. Obsession, Backrooms, Leviticus y ahora le tocó el turno a Evil Dead Burn, la sexta entrega de esta saga que tiene más de 10 años dándonos películas llenas de horror. El terror puede ser concebido de diversas formas, por ejemplo con Leviticus, mi reseña anterior, lo vemos de una manera más paranoica y pasional; con estas películas de Evil Dead el género es mucho más directo, crudo y por tanto más efectivo. Como digo en el titulo, quizás este film sea uno de los mejores significado de lo que puede ser el terror.

Obviously, all these films are sequels to each other, meaning it would be good if you were at least familiar with the most recent ones, in this case, Evil Dead Rise. I say this because this one begins exactly where the previous one started. Having said that, we begin with an activity at a lake where two young people are attacked by this entity (Jessica), thus beginning the story. Meanwhile, one of the protagonists finds a mystical object, which allows this demon to sense its energy and begin the hunt. The plot opens with two couples who are very close friends, and due to unforeseen circumstances, one of them ends up dead. To show respect, Alice (Souheila Yacoub) decides to go to her in-laws' house, unaware that a true nightmare is about to begin.

Obviamente todas estás películas son secuelas entre si, es decir, sería bueno que estén familiarizados por lo menos con los últimos films, en este caso Evil Dead Rise. Lo digo porque esta comienza exactamente en el lugar en donde comenzó la anterior. Habiendo dicho esto empezamos con una actividad en un lago en donde dos jóvenes son atacados por esta entidad (Jessica) dando inicio a lo que será la historia. En paralelo tenemos a uno de los protagonistas encontrando un objeto místico lo que hace que este demonio perciba esa energía y así comience la caza. La trama arranca con 2 parejas que son muy buenos amigos y que por cosas que suceden uno de ellos termina muerto. Para mostrar respeto Alice (Souheila Yacoub) decide ir a casa de sus suegros sin saber que allí empezaría una verdadera pesadilla.

You might be a little lost, but believe me, everything connects. In the end, that lake demon has a lot to do with Alice's husband's death, and that's where the plot leads. The truth is, this family has secrets, identities that have been mentioned in previous films, hence the interest in these demonic entities. As a horror film, it works perfectly because it combines everything: the paranormal experience with possessions and demons alongside gore, excessive violence, copious amounts of blood, mutilation, etc. It all comes together to make it visually spectacular. If you're someone who's easily affected by all this, then this film is clearly not for you; on the other hand, if you're someone who enjoys a good dose of horror at its most extreme, you'll definitely enjoy it.

Puede que estén un poco perdidos pero créanme que todo se conecta. Al final aquel demonio del lago tiene mucho que ver con la muerte del esposo de Alice y por allí se va la trama. La realidad es que esa familia tiene secretos, tiene identidades que han sido mencionadas en películas anteriores, de ahí el interés de estas entidades demoníacas. Como película de terror funciona a la perfección porque combina de todo: la experiencia paranormal con las posesiones y los demonios junto a el gore, la violencia desmedida, la cantidad de sangre, mutilaciones, etc. Todo se une para que visualmente sea espectacular de ver. Si eres una persona a la que le afecta todo esto está claro que este film no es para ti; por el contrario si eres de los que disfruta una buena dosis de horror en su máxima expresión no tengas dudas que esto lo vas a disfrutar.

The real strength of these films lies in their visuals: the way things unfold, the actors' makeup, and the slasher elements. Behind this lies a plot that I personally would have liked to see developed further, specifically the origin story of this evil and how to stop it. It's mentioned here, but only to justify the hunt and little else. There are also some script issues; some decisions are poorly made, but understandably so, to move the plot forward. And this is a very personal opinion, but I felt the last 15-20 minutes of the film were unnecessary. It felt like we were watching the reincarnation of the T-1000 from Terminator (those who have seen the film will understand). I understand the underlying message of the scenes, but not the execution; they went a bit overboard.

Y es que el punto realmente fuerte de estas películas es lo visual, la forma en como se dan las cosas, el maquillaje que tienen los actores y lo slasher que puede ser todo. Detrás de esto hay una trama que en lo personal me hubiese gustado que desarrollaran un poco más que tiene que ver con la historia del origen de este mal y su forma de detenerlo. Acá lo mencionan pero únicamente para justificar la cacería y poco más. También hay detalles con el guion, hay decisiones que están mal tomadas pero que se entienden que pasen para que la película avance. Y ya esto es algo muy personal pero a mi me sobraron los últimos 15-20 minutos de película, parecía que estábamos viendo la reencarnación del T-1000 de Terminator (entenderán esto los que hayan visto el film). Entiendo el fondo de las escenas pero no la forma, exageraron un poco.

The acting was quite good, but I want to highlight Luciane Buchanan's performance as Thya. For me, she's perhaps the best character in the film, along with Souheila Yacoub's. Portraying this type of possessed character and adding all the grotesque elements is very difficult to pull off, but Luciane definitely nailed it. Actually, everyone was great, but for me, she's the best. Souheila's performance is also good, but it's because of the character's resilience; she goes through a lot. In short, we have a typical and worthy horror film with all the expected elements; it has its "flaws," meaning it's far from perfect, but it's incredibly enjoyable. There's tension, suspense, you might even get scared at times, and a visual feast full of death and violence. I highly recommend it; it's definitely worth watching. I've included the trailer below.

El nivel de actuación fue bastante bueno pero quiero destacar lo que hizo Luciane Buchanan como Thya. Para mi el mejor personaje de la película quizás junto al de Souheila Yacoub. Interpretar a este tipo de personajes poseídos pero además agregarle todo lo grotesco es algo muy complicado de lograr pero definitivamente es algo que Luciane clavó a la perfección. En realidad todos pero para mi ella es top. Lo de Souheila es bueno también pero por lo resiliente del personaje, ella pasa por mucho. En fin, estamos ante una película típica y digna del terror con todos los elementos esperados; tiene sus "fallos", es decir, está lejos de ser perfecta pero se disfruta una barbaridad. Hay tensión, suspenso, puede haber miedo a veces y un deleite visual lleno de muerte y violencia. Muy recomendada la verdad, para mi vale la pena sentarse a verla. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.

Owanbe Thieves is a movie of love, struggle, betrayal, and also consequences that follows every human's decision in life. Owanbe is a term used for parties observed here in Nigeria and as it has been generally fantasized, we are one of the few countries that grace parties, celebrate like the won't be another so I guess being present at such parties made them derive the name OWANBE (he/she is there).

This movie actually centered on a struggling couple who are from different tribes but loved and stood by one another. The wife's family was obviously not in support of the marriage and so, the couple were not financially or morally supported but rather placed on pressure and bullying which they always refused.

The movie showed how even close people would want to take advantage of you because you're in a position to get their help. The couple showed that there could always be trust, endurance, perseverance and true love no matter how hard life may be.

Owanbe Thieves originated from the couple deciding to rob the wife's family of almost all sprayed money that was acquired on the wedding day by the wife's mother and her immediate sister who got married to a politician. The operation was successful and that became their kickstart to a stress-free robbery with no ammunition.

The movie basically established the fact that the wealth you acquired with no genuine work or labour will not last long because you would always think less of how to make the one you have yield more but think more of spending it lavishly because more will always come from where the previous ones came from. Not until fire catches up with the a goat or Ram's body before the realization dawn that the game is up.

From my own perspective, I feel that as a couple, we are not always meant to think or reason same way and when one party is going south and threading the path of destruction, then the other can be the light to bring them back to the right path. They could have maintained a good life with their first operation from the wife's family but they choose to continue and extend to outsiders which officially turned them to "OWANBE THIEVES".

The last thoughtful part of the movie where I will be rounding up on the review of this movie, of which will come as a question is "why is it always that men do not think of cheating while struggling hard with life alongside the enduring wife but would end up becoming a cheat as soon as wealth arrives and he's living a big man's life?" Is it really in the male gender's vein, blood vessels or gene? I'm just curious because that has been the most experiences of women who suffer with their husbands till they get rich.

For me, I would have rated the movie a 99% but I do not like how it ended with the wife having the last robbery, alongside their kid and that was where she decided to turn the game off the husband. Unfortunately, I guess they shot the child in the process of dragging the gun.

Last weekend I participated in the global effort to save the cinemas, and went to see The Odyssey in a movie theater. It's been years since I last went to the cinema, but there was so much hype about this film that I wanted to see it for myself.

IMAX, 4DX, and other gimmicks

Part of the decision to go out to see this movie was the experience of shaking seats and other effects wrapped around the film, to make it more attractive to visit a theater for it. In the end, due to time constraints and overbooked cinemas, we ended up going to one that did not have any of these extra features. Sure, there was a huge screen, which is the least you can expect from a theater, though I'm not sure it was IMAX. Plus, we ended up watching it dubbed into Spanish. It was all good, though.

The Long Way Home After the War

The film's plot is heavily oriented on the classical Greek tales of The Iliad and The Odyssey, telling the story of Odysseus' journey home after winning the Trojan war. Since these songs were part of the oral tradition for centuries before being written down by Homer, the historical basis is murky at best. Even following Homer, the stories have been translated and interpreted at will, so no one should blame Christopher Nolan, the director of this film, for what he included or left out.

Just like when you're watching an opera, where it is useful to be familiar with the general outline of the plot, so you can enjoy the music, with this story too it's immensely helpful to have read the books. The timeline tends to jump around quite a bit, as various stages of the story are retold, remembered, and reemphasized in a new light. Personally, I believe this is the one great strength of this particular interpretation.

Mirroring Contemporary Times

None of the classical Greek gods appear in the film. Even supernatural creatures are some types of animals, distorted humanoids, and most of all manifestations of the fear, guilt, and remorse haunting the characters (mainly Odysseus). Didn't he manage to win the war by deceit, offering the wooden horse as a gift, and thus breaking one of the most fundamental rules of society? But he's not the only one, by far.

There seems to be an ongoing fear of the "sea peoples", which ring a bell to modern ears, as they allegedly brought down the great civilizations of the bronze age Mediterranean. - I even gave myself a face-palm when Odysseus outright said: "Our age of bronze is collapsing." On the other hand, to include something so ridiculous in the script can't be an accident. I think it was fully intentional, with a good reason.

I think this line, and the whole film in its close to three hour entirety, is supposed to show us the end of an era. When old norms and values are abandoned, and everything becomes relative, heroes turn into villains, and villains... remain villains, as everything loses its purpose. There is no going back. Even when reaching the place that used to be home, one is confronted with yet more battles, and further killings.

Go Ahead and Watch it - If You Want

All in all, I did not think the movie was bad. Still, I did not find it immensely captivating, or particularly deep to ponder. It was certainly too long, and by the time Odysseus finally reached Ithaca I just wanted him to kill everyone to get it over with. So I will give this film an ambiguous rating of 50/100. There are many better ones out there, and certainly lots of worse ones.

I have been watching some historical movies recently, and I came across Hidden Figures (2016), and trust me, I didn't expect what I watched because I was expecting the movie to be about space only. But what I left with was something about courage, knowing what you stand for and your value when the world keeps trying to throw all shades of things, which was absolutely brilliant. Because watching this movie and how things were done back then, I was like, how many people with such a brilliant mindset were ignored just because they were colored? I didn't expect to go reading about the characters online after the movie ended. What I admire most about this movie, unlike others, is that it didn't make anyone the superhero or the villain. Instead, I saw how complicated we humans can be sometimes.

Though there were only a few characters in this movie, one of the characters that I noticed first was Katherine Johnson. I admire her confidence even though it wasn't loud, and that was very difficult to ignore about her. Right from a very young age, she has been solving difficult mathematics, yet she strives for more anywhere she finds herself because she doesn't want to feel less.

What I love deeply about this movie is that she knew her worth and what she was capable of doing, and she never allowed people's opinions to shut her down or put her aside. She strived for excellence even when she was the only Black lady in the room. The two other characters that were also closer to Katherine Johnson were Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan, two other inspiring characters that changed a lot about NASA.

For me, this movie won't be complete without the supporting character like Al Harrison, who was the boss of Katherine and also gave her the opportunity to prove herself, even though he was hard at first. Also, Vivian Mitchell and John Glenn demonstrated how difficult changes can look, especially when people have been surrounded and know what it means to be in an unfair system for so long. Some were stocked with their old beliefs, while some embraced the new beliefs.

What I categorically enjoyed most in this movie was when Al Harrison questioned Katherine about where she usually goes and why she's always late, and she explained the challenges of always running down the NASA campus for minutes just to use the "colored" restroom, and this scene became more interesting when Al went straight to the white restroom and broke the "white only" segregation sign with a crossbar while others watched him, and he told all of them that there are no more colored and everyone in his department is free to use the restroom without having to run some kilometers just to get access to the colored restroom. I also like the scene when John Glenn specifically asked for Katherine to check and confirm the numbers of the flight before he took off. I just felt so emotional watching that scene because she earned it.

I don't have any complaints about this movie because the little I had, I googled to confirm. And let me add this: a lot of people don't know their worth, but these three women that made the movie stood out for me: Katherine Johnson, who was a math genius right from a young age, made an unforgettable contribution to NASA that made flight trajectories to space possible and knowing exactly where and when they would land. Dorothy Vaughan, a woman with a very large heart, went ahead to teach herself the FORTRAN computer language when everything around NASA was changing and a lot were afraid that they could lose their jobs. She didn't keep this knowledge to herself; she taught others too and became the very first Black female supervisor in NASA. Mary Jackson was a very strong and resilient woman who stood against all odds that she was faced with and went ahead to become the first female Black engineer at NASA and contributed to the improvement of aircraft designs.

So, I will give this movie a 10/10 because these ladies' brilliance has nothing to do with skin type or race or gender. Their work alone didn't change a lot of things around NASA; it changed the system entirely till today because three women were courageous, brilliant, and knew their worth in a predominantly male environment that wasn't built to favor them. I won't waste time recommending this movie to anyone who enjoys inspiring true stories and learning how to know their worth.
