  1. Baby Driver - When Driving Is an Art@reviewzzz480d

When I first watched Baby Driver I expected it to be just a regular action movie but honestly it turned out to be a completely different experience The movie isnt just car chases and explosions but its made in a new way that makes you enjoy every scene The directing was very good and the music was an essential part of the story which made me feel that every movement and every scene had its own rhythm.

The hero Baby has an unnatural talent for driving and works as a getaway driver for a gang that robs banks But what distinguishes him is not only his skill but also his love for music which makes him do everything while listening to songs on his headphones I think this was one of the best things about the movie because every scene was ingeniously tuned to the rhythm to the point that the chases were like action dances not just random scenes.

The story has a nice dramatic element especially when Baby tries to get out of the world of crime to start a new life with the girl he loves But like any gangster movie getting out isnt always easy and he finds himself in big trouble.

The acting was excellent especially from Ansel Elgort as Baby and Kevin Spacey who played the gang leader with frightening coolness I hope anyone who loves different action movies should watch Baby Driver because its not just a chase movie but an enjoyable visual and musical experience The movie teaches you that driving is not just a skill but it can be an art when done right.

  2. Baby Driver@cinetv565d

I don’t exactly keep lists but it’s somewhere at the back of my head, my favourite movies from each year. Dialing a bit back to 2017, there is one movie I really enjoyed and I’ve seen more than once for the unique feel it had to it. The more I thought about it, the more I figured this was cool enough to share with everyone, hence why we are here now. Presenting to you:

    Baby Driver (2017)

In the city of Atlanta, there is a young getaway driver named Miles(Ansel Elgort) who is nicknamed “Baby.” So, Baby has a condition called tinnitus that he contracted in the car crash that killed his parents and now finds some form of solace with music. He works for Kingpin Doc(Kevin Spacey) and helps get his assembled robbers across in a bid to pay off his debt. However, when a particular robbery goes awry, Baby quits his life of crime, pays off his debts, puts his deaf foster father in good care, and sells pizza. Living a somewhat smooth life with his diner girlfriend, Debora(Lily James).

All of that somewhat comes crashing down when Baby reconnects with Doc again, who has one final job for him. He manages to convince him to join, but a particular teammate of his takes a dislike to him. When one member is erratic and far too trigger-happy for comfort, the chances of success are slim. The question now is whether or not Baby can get out of this in one piece without damage to those he loves.

You know, after seeing this movie, I’d read that the writer and director of this film, Edgar Wright had spent two decades planning for it. It’s probably why when it comes to the technicalities and cinematography, this film was able to excel as much as it did.

That thing called one final heist, or one final robbery is something we’ve pretty much gotten used to now. Because you can just be sure it never goes well. Generally, when it comes to life, those carefully made plans where the chief plan is to get this done and then stop completely are hardly ever successful because you’re definitely going to be faced with challenges that you may not be able to scale through. And that, like other films in this genre, is why Baby Driver was the way it was. You’ll be on the edge of your seat because you can sense the approaching disaster.

When it comes to the script writing itself and characterization, I may have had some issues, which I won’t talk about since I don’t want to give any more spoilers, but I was in love with Ansel Elgort’s interpretation of the role, “Baby.” His method of using music as a form of catharsis. The whole mannerisms that made him look like he was not entirely alright in the head but still subtly calculative and intelligent, did it for me. It’s not every time I like the main lead, but Baby was alright for me in this film.

I wasn’t too mad about the ending either, and even though some events were predictable, my hot take is: what movie isn’t at this point? I think when it comes to Hollywood, we’ve seen more or less everything, so it’s hard to be completely clueless and taken by surprise at a film from start to finish. Loved this movie to no end and I hope you enjoy it as well!

  3. Baby Driver [2017]@sirdelly1007d
    [Source](https://anfieldindex.com/wp-content/uploads/babydriver-Review.png)

Hello friends, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has been reading my content. I'm here with another interesting movie that I came across on Netflix, title Baby Driver.

The movie is about a boy who's a former getaway driver, to partake in a heist, threatening to hurt his girlfriend if he refuses. But the plan goes awry when their arms dealers turn out to be undercover officers.

Baby is a gateway driver in Atlanta. As a child, he survived a car crash that killed his parents and left him with tinnitus. He finds catharsis in music, using is iPods to soothe his tinnitus.

Baby ferries crews of robbers assembled by criminal mastermind Doc as recompense for the theft of a car containing Doc's illicit goods.

In leisure, he remixes snippets of conversations he records and cares for his deaf foster father, he meets a waitress, and they start dating.

His next robbery goes awry after an armed military bystander chases them down, but Baby evades him and the police.

Meanwhile, having paid his debt, Baby quits his life of crime and starts delivering pizzas. Doc interrupts his date with his girlfriend and insists he join a post office heist, threatening to hurt his girlfriend and his father should he refuse.

The crew consists of easygoing Buddy, his sharpshooter wife Darling, and trigger-happy Bats, who had taken a dislike to baby during their previous time working together.

When the team attempts to purchase illegal firearms, one of the crew recognizes one of the dealers as a covert operative and opens fire. They kill most of the dealers.

Afterward, one of the crew makes Baby stop at his girlfriend's diner, unaware of their romance. Baby, aware of his homicidal habit, prevents him from killing her to avoid paying.

Doc is furious, revealing that the dealers were corrupt cops on his payroll. He decides to cancel the heist, but the crew overrule him.

Baby attempts to slip away late that night, hoping to take his girlfriend and leave Atlanta, but he is stopped by two members of the crew, who have discovered his recordings and believe he is an informant.

Moreover, Baby convinces them and Doc of his innocence by playing them a tape of one of his remixes. However, a second tape reveals a prior conversation with his girlfriend.

During the heist, one of the crew kills a security guard. Disgusted, Baby refuses to drive away, causing one of the crew to hit him.

He rams the car into some rebar that impales, killing him; Baby and others flee on foot. When a sharpshooter is killed in a shootout with police, one of the crew blames Baby for her death and vows to kill him.

Do you think baby Will be able to escape and survive, as one of the crew blames baby and vows to kill him? Find out what happened on Netflix as it gets more interesting.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Hi hive, today I came across a movie that I had seen a few years ago (when it was just released) and I got hooked on watching it and remembered how much I had liked it and so today I come to talk to you about Baby Driver.

Baby Driver is a movie released in 2017, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Jon Bernthal (who by the way do an outstanding job, but that's something I'll talk about later).

What happens if we mix chases, robberies, good music and romance in one movie? As a result we get Baby Driver. This movie shows us Baby, a young man with extraordinary driving skills who takes advantage of them by working as a driver to escape from robberies and make a living, however his perspective on life changes when he meets the girl of his dreams.

The film itself does not have a surprising premise, it is not something out of this world and it is not one of those movies complicated to understand, the jib that baby driver has is different from that, it seeks to have excellent scenes with excellent music to tell us a story, and yes, I think it is impossible to talk about this movie without talking about the music (which is a great strength in the film).

    E7B01AE2-C9B2-4797-BCC5-80FF518F5B1B.jpeg

    imagen

The music in this movie is not only perfectly chosen, but also the way it is used allows us to know or understand feelings that our protagonist is living, the music is used as another channel of information which is used perfectly.

The audio mix in this movie is crazy and it is used 100% when headphones are used, all the sound effects are captured, the audio pans, everything is perfectly achieved, Baby Driver gives an over importance to every sound and it shows (and I mean that in the best way possible).

    4C86019E-3A05-47BB-B203-777E0EC0B336.jpeg

    imagen

The performances in this film are very good and although everyone does an excellent job, our protagonist (Ansel Elgort) manages to perform very well in the role, he manages to convey every feeling without having to be exaggerated or expressive and in my opinion I think that's even more difficult.

In my opinion, baby driver is an excellent movie, it is a good action movie, it has incredible music and one or two touches of romance without falling into excess and without losing the essence of an action movie. When I saw this movie in 2017 I was impressed, because I have not seen anything that has a similar ego (I guess there must be other movies like this but still).

    B00712E1-3D5C-475D-8C7C-A276D8B16863.jpeg

    imagen

That if part of my love to this movie is because of the music? Yes. What if it's an excellent movie? I also think so.

In conclusion, it is a movie that has a little bit of everything, but it manages to fulfill the expectations.

  5. Baby Driver - Are you in?@cute-cactus1471d

Are you in? Am I in? Yes, you are!

When our right to choose is somehow taken away, the options presented to us are nothing more than a formality. They are always the ones who decide our place. They say, they know and you do! Just like a puppet!

A teenager nicknamed Baby, who is constantly exposed to hum due to a damage in his ear after a traffic accident as a child, listens to music constantly to suppress the hum. I don't know how annoying the hum is, but I don't think I'll complain about listening to music all the time. It can feel great.

    source

Whatever the reason, being in debt to your boss is one of the biggest disasters to think about because debt never ends! This is exactly the case with Baby. He stole his boss's car and caused the loss of millions of dollars in his trunk. Seeing Baby's ability to drive, her boss gave her a second chance to pay off her debt instead of killing her.

The opportunity offered as a second chance is actually sinking further into the swamp of crime. He asks Baby to drive on the escape route after the robberies his team will do on his behalf. Desperate, Baby has to accept this and the next in order to pay the debt.

    source

The answer to the question I started writing is exactly the short dialogue between Baby and his boss. Her boss calls Baby before the robbery and asks the question. Are you in? Baby answers the question with a question. Am i in? Because as long as the debt continues, he does not have the chance to say he does not exist.

The chase scenes between thieves and cops in heist movies are breathtaking. It is a natural impulse to watch the movie more carefully in those moments when action and adventure are not missing for a moment. Master driver Baby manages to bring the excitement of watching to the top.

The robberies are not the only thing that develops in the movie Baby Driver! The protagonist, nicknamed Baby, falls in love with a waitress. In such crime movies, love is the weakest point. Baby dreams of paying off his debt and driving his car west with the girl he fell in love with without making any plans, accompanied by music.

    source

The boss, who has never done business with the same team, has done dozens of business with Baby and has been successful in all of them. But as the final scene of the movie approaches, why he did business by gathering the same team remained as an unanswered question. The events that have already happened prove how correct the principle of not using the same team more than once is true.

Even though his debt is gone, Baby is threatened over the girl he fell in love with. For Ansel Elgort, who has played the character of Baby very well until that moment, it's time to become a lion. When you threaten people over their loved ones, you awaken the beast inside them. That's exactly what happened with Baby. The monster inside him awoke and the scenes of the Baby Driver movie that were more dominant than the beginning emerged.

    source

If I proceed through the Baby character and the role depending on the character, I can divide the movie into two stages. One of them turns out to be Baby, who has surrendered to his destiny and fulfilled the task given to him completely. The other turns out to be events that describe the actions of a man who is threatened with the murder of the girl he loves. The two episodes are very well connected and the fun-filled 1:52 hour movie Baby Driver has emerged.

It has a feature that can be easily placed in memory for those who watch the movie. It gives an impression that I think the audience will surely remember. It stands as a movie that I can easily recommend among those who have not watched it.

Also, those who love to listen to music may have more desire to listen to music after watching the movie!

See you in my next article, all content belongs to me.

  6. Baby Driver - Driving never had a better soundtrack | Impressions and film review@jauregui981692d

    image.png

    image.png

Hello, living beings! Today was another night where I didn't want to watch anything new, so I decided to re-watch a movie I had already seen and Baby Driver came my way. I love it, I love it so much, it was the best movie to watch stoned out of my sleep from the second dose of the covid shot, with my active cat allergy, and migraine, it distracted me enough and made me think I had already reviewed this movie, but I looked and apparently I hadn't.

As you may already know if you saw it, Baby is a simple chauffeur who has nothing simple about him, as he works as a driver for the robberies in which he participates, well, that's the whole movie, and it would be just as boring and banal as that description if the story, the construction of his character, his relationship with Debora, his adoptive father, and the soundtrack were not extremely incredible and very well worked.

    image.png

¡Hola, seres vivos!

    image.png

I'm hungry, anyway, you have to know how exquisite the soundtrack is and how the situations fit the songs, or the songs fit the situations, I don't know. One of my favorite scenes is at the beginning when Baby goes to buy the coffees, and where we presume that it's the first time he sees Debora walking down the street, but the way he sees her passing by can give us to understand that he had already seen her before, but that's not what I wanted to say.

What I wanted to say is that in that scene of Baby buying the coffees listening to Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle it is funny, witty, and wonderful the fact that while he is walking through the streets enjoying himself, parts of the lyrics of the song appear in graffiti everywhere, already from that moment, not even in the previous scene of him driving through the city running from the police after the robbery, no, it was in that scene that I loved the movie and knew it was not going to be a waste of time, and that is why I have seen it more than 4 times.

    image.png

    image.png

Lily James as Deborah is what allows Baby to develop through the film, not her past history, not the robberies she is a part of, not caring for her adoptive father who is deaf and in a wheelchair, not her hearing problem and the memory she has of the event that damaged her hearing, what makes Baby grow up, mature, make hard decisions is her, sometimes it doesn't take a lot of complicated and horrible things to make you decide to change, and the simplicity, purity and the relationship they both come to have is enough to make it happen.

I loved their relationship, how natural it started, and the mutual way it developed, and I have to say that I had completely forgotten the trip they had together to the laundromat and then the perfect date to that completely expensive place I don't remember the name of, those scenes just disappeared from my mind and it was so nice to see them again as if it was the first time.

    image.png

Another of my favorite things is that they put the sound when Baby doesn't have his headphones on, little details like that make the movie even better than it already is, because even though we are watching the movie, we are listening to it through Baby's ears, so we had to experience the same as him, I loved that.

Here's the trailer! Go see this movie, even though it's only five years old, I felt like it was many years ago, and I have only one thing I didn't like, why did they have to reveal Baby's name? I mean, yes, perfect, the whitest possible name for him, but everything would have been more perfect if we had never known and Baby had stayed Baby. I'm off to cook.

    image.png

Me voy a cocinar.

  7. Baby Driver (2017) review: a musical masterpiece.@richardalexis1873d

The film poster was taken from Filmaffinity Imagen Separador.png

Those who are familiar with my posts will know that something I always detail when it comes to both movies and video games is the pace with which they tell their stories, both from a narrative perspective and from pure timing, how it feels to consume a piece of contents.

Baby Driver has many reasons to win my heart but one of his best achievements is precisely in this, Edgar Wright is a master of rhythm, and this is always repowered in his works by a brilliant addition.

    [Imagen](https://lanetaneta.com/10-mejores-citas-de-baby-driver-screenrant/)

In this cocktail of fluidity we have to add another factor that in my opinion takes it to another level: a great emphasis on the music, not just the original soundtrack, but pre-existing themes that are added to the film with almost surgical precision.

Baby Driver tells the story of Baby, a young man played by Ansel Elgort who works as the driver in a series of high-level robberies to repay an old debt with his boss - The mastermind of these crimes - Doc, played by the now infamous Kevin Spacey. There are two things we should know about Baby, first: apparently he suffers from Tinnitus and needs to listen to music constantly to drown out the pain - Or it could be that he is just a big fan of being glued to an iPod all the time - and is an excellent driver .

Of course, Baby wants to escape from this world of crime for a long time, but every time he tries something he pushes him again.

    [Imagen](https://www.moviementarios.com/critica-baby-driver/)

The true achievement of Baby Driver is how it is built through its musical montages, where each element of the tape comes together to highlight these sounds, each scene is brilliantly choreographed and measured, and is never done superfluously, it always comes with contributions to the plot.

With a varied cast, with giants like Jamie Foxx, Jorn Bernthal and Jon Hamm, Baby Driver exudes creativity in every shot, it is full of huge displays of talent.

Another of the points in his favor is in the remarkable use of practical effects, especially in the constant car chases.

    [Imagen](https://www.moviementarios.com/critica-baby-driver/)

Baby Driver is a film that flows too comfortably between mainstream cinema and pure and dense art, that it really has something to offer for everyone. Simple, sophisticated and without spending time on unnecessary things.

As a bonus, keep shazam in hand, because awesome music of absolutely any genre is going to be playing all the time.

    [Imagen](https://lanetaneta.com/10-mejores-citas-de-baby-driver-screenrant/)

    [Imagen](https://www.moviementarios.com/critica-baby-driver/)

    [Imagen](https://www.moviementarios.com/critica-baby-driver/)

  8. Baby Driver (Film): Review.@martinmcfly2734d

The year begins and after a couple of days I already catch up with some of the films that were on my list for a long time, and although Baby Driver, the 2017 film directed by Edgar Wright, is not the first one I saw, it is maybe the best job I've seen so far this year lol, and that's why I decided to talk about it.

    ---

Year: 2017 Category: Action. Director: Edgar Wright. Cast: Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal, CJ Jones.

    Plot

A young orphan with a great ability to drive is forced to drive to flee the police in different criminal blows because he owes a debt to the one who organizes the assaults, but when he falls in love with a young girl and no longer wants to continue driving the things will go out of control.

    Opinion

Baby, a young orphan who lives with Joseph, a deaf old man in a wheelchair, works as a driver for Doc, a criminal mind that is responsible for organizing different crimes, including stealing banks. On each occasion Doc selects a different group of criminals, however, due to an old debt that Baby has with him, he is obliged to participate as a driver in each of the operations. When Baby finally ends his debt with Doc decides to retire and start a relationship with Debora, a young waitress, however, soon Doc requires Baby's services again and extorts him to do another job, this time with Darling and Buddy, a kind of Bonnie and Clyde, and with Bats, an extremely violent criminal, whom Baby knows of his last two jobs.

Starting from the above I must say that the film has a fairly simple plot, the genius of the film is not in the script, in fact, that is probably its weak point, but that's what I'll talk about at the end, for now, I must highlight the great direction, the synchronization between music and events is excellent, the audiovisual aesthetic is simply wonderful, I already knew the director from films like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The World's End, which are all comedies, for that reason I must say that I did not expect a work of this style, which is very different from the kind of movie I was used to seeing of him.

It is a very dynamic and entertaining film that does not slow down at any time, it keeps everything simple, the protagonist who is a good guy but who is forced by circumstances to participate in criminal actions, the girl whose only purpose is conceived together with the development of the main character, the relative who wants the best for the protagonist but who still can not do anything to prevent him from continuing in the crime world, and of course, the villains, which in this case are the criminals with whom he works.

As I said the audivisual work is very good, with a soundtrack that goes from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Bob & Earl, The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, Queen, T. Rex, Beck, Carla Thomas and many others. The visual aesthetics is excellent, the synchronization also, including some sequence shot, in addition to the persecutions that, although unreal, with a very good choreaography, and a staging very well worked.

The performances are very good and although there is none that is really superior to the others, everyone does it very well, starting with the protagonist, Ansel Elgort, whom I see for the first time. Lily James, Eiza González, CJ Jones, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx do a relatively good job, especially Foxx. Kevin Spacey acts in automatic, in a role very similar to the one made in the film 21.

The film is good and entertaining, but as I said, if I should mention any flaw it must be in the simplicity of the script in the development of the story, but especially of the characters, it is not clear why the characters are dedicated to doing the things they do, it just does not make sense, except for the main character, which shows us with the help of flashbacks some of his motivations that justify his personality, for the rest, the actions, motivations and incentives of the other characters are not clear, in fact, seem not to exist, it is as if they did things only because the plot wants it, which makes them one-dimensional characters with very little or null depth.

    Trailer

    Score

    7/10

Very entertaining film, does not slow down at any time, makes a deployment of very dynamic and effective resources that manages to keep the viewer interested in the plot at all times.

(Baby Driver)@panza3114d

  11. 'Baby Driver' Review: Probably Edgar Wright's best film so far@namiks3200d

    baby-driver-3840x2160-action-crime-hd-4k-2017-8567.jpg

Egdar Wright breaks his historical chain of comedy films with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost with his latest film, Baby Driver. A music-filled thriller with a simplistic narrative that reminds the viewer of Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Drive' from 2011.

Music drives this film forward. It's fused into its narrative, with our protagonist suffering from tinnitus and using the world of music to block out the uncomfortable sound of constant ringing; it's the disconnect he needs from his past and present, given a car crash in which his parents died in is the reason for his tinnitus.

Spending his childhood with a foster parent, Baby reduces himself to a life of crime from a young age, unfortunately stealing from a very dangerous man that is impressed by Baby's talents as a driver. Baby is forced to pay off his debt as a getaway driver throughout the years, eventually leading to the 'one last job' manipulation of criminals.

Narrative-wise, Baby Driver is a film about criminal manipulation, and the tough escape anyone would face when forced to accept the next job, but Baby is generally a good person; his morals are all in the right places, and it shows when he attempts to protect people from his not-so-friendly criminal associates.

The blend of music and choreography is a beautiful blend in Baby Driver, with Edgar Wright's cinematography focusing on connecting music in one way or another with character actions and interactions, even during the action scenes. It feels almost like a musical in parts, and that's where it feels truly unique as a film, despite its many similarities to other works of the same genre.

It truly feels like Edgar Wright's best film so far, with him having true creative freedom and him exploring his creative potential outside of comedy.

  12. Review Film: Baby Driver (2017)@film-trail3214d

After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.

    The Review

Making film wih theme of someone who is good at driving, and packed with cool, yes like, Transporter series, Italian Job to Drive (forget the racing movie that has entered the eighth series). Everything presents a finesse in the cool driver driving the eye while in action on the screen. However, the English Filmmaker, Edgar Wright, known via his Blood & Ice Cream trilogy (starting with Shaun of the Dead), tried to present something different. With a more modern look but also paying homage to the classic works of its predecessor.

As a tough driver named Baby (Ansel Englort) a young actor who is popular after appearing in the teen drama, Fault in Our Stars. Without a word, Baby becomes the steering helper of Doc (Kevin Spacey), the head of a mysterious criminal gang that recruits the people of his choice to carry out his illegitimate illegal actions. Baby who was trapped in the cunning ploy of Doc's debt to be willing to enter into his criminal circle, then met Deborah "Debby" (Lily James) the sweet-looking diner waitress who captivated her heart. Determined to leave his shoddy job, Baby is caught up in the dilemma of a new man by the Doc, Bats (Jamie Foxx) starts to screw up and act arbitrarily. Destructive plan of many parties in it.

Honestly in outline, there was nothing new that Wright had to offer from the movie that he had written himself. The story is generic and appears superficial on the surface. What makes it interesting is Wright's dynamic directorial and fictional characters are strong enough on the screen. The ranks of big names involved like Spacey, Foxx, Jon Hamm to new star Eiza Gonzalez appear alluring on screen. Not just as a sweetener supporting plots, they also have a balanced portion of each other. The two main stars Englort and James, able to look quite compact and quite tying the emotions on the screen. Bringing the narrative of his movie as young as Rebel Without a Cause.

But the most memorable thing of Baby Driver is the music selection. Wright knew exactly what to play when the movie was running, the song was the main cast for Wright. Channeling this ordinary story becomes interesting when presented with it. Lots of good scenes (including when Baby and Debby danced in the cleaners) synergize beautifully with the strains of the song. Including inserts, Baby habits that can not be separated from his i-pod in action. And that's what helped at least the plot that seems to me quite generic, although at 1/4 finally far from the word cliche and twisted well.

Baby Driver may not be as good as the great compliment that accompanies the movie out there. But it must be admitted that Wright is a top-notch director. His guidance as well as his capable players play capable of catapulting his manuscript  too strong. It may take some time to see if the film is capable of leaving a deep impression on the mind. But for now, may call it a dynamic and fashionable movie this year.

    Baby-Driver-Poster (1).jpg

Car chases and movies go together like peanut butter and jelly. The car chase is almost as old as film itself. But it seems recent history has seen an increase in films that center on the cars. Films like Transporter, Drive, John Wick, Mad Max:Fury Road and the endless Fast and Furious films have given us plenty to choose from in this genre. So Writer/Director Edgar Wright must have had something new and different to say in this genre, right? Right?

Edgar Wright does weave his car chases around a story. It is standard fare. You have the Mastermind (Kevin Spacey), the protagonist (Ansel Elgort), the love interest (Lily James) and the heist crew. In this case, the boss doesn't use the same crew twice. You get a mish-mash of players on each job (Jon Hamm, Eiza Gonzalez, Jamie Foxx, Lanny Joon and Flea). The boss, Doc, only keeps one thing constant...his driver. His driver is Baby (Elgort), an otherwise gentle kid with a talent for driving. An accident when he was young has left him with tinitus. He drowns out the ringing in his ears with several iPods loaded with a variety playlists that get him in the groove.

The film is more about pacing and choreography than anything else. Most of the characters are flat and, at times, overwrought. The staccato dialogue is consistent with the pacing, but felt a bit cliched. Even forced at times. Ultimately, this film comes down to how much you like car chases. The chases are choreographed with the music, which also places a heavy emphasis on the soundtrack, which was carefully selected and intriguingly varied. Great effort was put into timing the soundtrack with essential action unfolding on the screen. It worked for me. Gimmicky? Sure. But it worked.

There are lots of things I look for in a film. But ultimately, my ratings come down to how much I liked it. I didn't really expect to like this film. It seemed a bit shallow. The characters lacked development. The story was predictable. The dialogue could have been better, but did match the tenor of the film. The soundtrack was solid and the choreography to the film was well done. Ultimately, this film succeeded for me on pacing. Not much to hang your hat on. Seemingly a thin strand to give a solid rating to. But it was enough for this type of film. At least it wasn't a parody of itself like Fast and Furious. I would give this film a solid 7.5/10.
