   Hello, hello dear cinephile friends, I hope you are doing well and have a great weekend, I confess that I am a little sad because this great contest is about to come to an end, but I am happy because I still have time to continue! participating! So today I would like to share with you a movie that I have loved since I was very little. This is Casper, which was released in 1995 and stars Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty and Malachi Pearson as Casper McFadden. I hope you like it.

   Hola, hola queridos amigos cinéfilos, espero estén muy bien y que tengan un muy buen fin de semana, les confieso que estoy un poco triste porque ya este grandioso concurso está por llegar a su final pero, ¡contenta porque todavía estoy a tiempo de seguir participando! Así que hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una película que me gusta mucho desde que era muy pequeña. Se trata de Casper, la cual fué estrenada en 1995 y está protagonizada por Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty y Malachi Pearson como Casper McFadden. Espero les guste.

   

   Plot / Trama

   Carrigan Crittenden is a rather selfish heiress who gets upset because her father only inherited a mansion inhabited by ghosts, although later she is happy when she discovers that there is a treasure hidden there but the first time she goes she is scared by said ghosts so he decides to contact James Harvey a paranormal therapist to go investigate so he travels with his daughter Kat to the mansion in Maine. Once settled in the mansion, Casper's chaotic and crazy uncles try to make James and his daughter leave, but since James is difficult to scare, Casper ends up gaining their trust and they become friends. On Kat's first day at school, she inadvertently begins to gain popularity when her classmates find out that she is inhabiting the mansion (since they are fully aware that it is haunted) so they propose to hold the Halloween party at the mansion instead. from the house of the most popular student.

   Carrigan Crittenden es una heredera bastante egoista la cual se molesta porque su padre solamente le dejó de herencia una mansión en la que habitan fantasmas, aunque después se pone contenta cuando descubre que allí escondido hay un tesoro pero la primera vez que va es espantada por dichos fantasmas así que decide contactar a James Harvey un terapeuta paranormal para que vaya a investigar así que el viaja con su hija Kat a la mansión en Maine. Una vez instalados en la mansión, los caóticos y locos tíos de Casper tratan de hacer que James y su hija se vayan pero como James es difícil de asustar Casper termina ganándose la confianza de ambos y se vuelven amigos. En el primer día de Kat en la escuela sin querer empieza a ganar popularidad cuando sus compañeros se enteran que está habitando la mansión (ya que son plenamente conscientes de que está embrujada) por lo que proponen hacer la fiesta de Halloween en la mansión en lugar de la casa de la estudiante más popular.

   The 3 crazy ghosts try to make peace with James, and since they know that he is looking for the ghost of his deceased wife as they think he has unfinished business, they tell him that they will find her for him on the condition that he helps them get rid of Carrigan. . Casper and Kat become great friends and since Casper can't remember anything about his life as a human, Kat decides to help him remember, so she takes Casper to an old abandoned toy room where he begins to remember. When Casper sees a sled, he remembers that he passed away due to illness from playing late in the snow. He also remembered that his father had invented a machine to resurrect a ghost, although he was declared insane for this. When Casper finds out about the Halloween dance that will be held at the mansion he tries to convince Kat to be his partner in the dance but she says no because he is not alive.

   Los 3 fantasmas locos intentan hacer las paces con James, y como ellos saben que él está buscando el fantasma de su esposa fallecida ya que cree que tiene asuntos pendientes le dicen que la encontrarán para él con la condición de que los ayude a deshacerse de Carrigan. Casper y Kat llegan a hacerse grandes amigos y como Casper no puede recordar nada sobre su vida como humano Kat decide ayudarlo a recordar, así que lleva a Casper a un viejo cuarto abandonado de juguetes en la que él empieza a recordar. Cuando Casper ve un trineo, recuerda que falleció debido a unaenfermedad por haberse quedado jugando hasta tarde en la nieve. También recordó que su padre había inventado una máquina que sirviera para resucitar a un fantasma aunque por esto fué declarado loco. Cuando Casper se entera del baile de Halloween que se realizará en la mansión intenta convencer a Kat para ser su pareja en el baile pero ella le dice que no porque no está vivo.

When the party starts, Kat goes downstairs to receive the guests and Casper is sad that she can't attend, but the spirit of Kat's mother appears to thank her for her sacrifice because Kat needs her father and allows her to come back to life, but only until 10 pm. Casper asks Kat to dance who at first does not recognize him but then he indirectly confesses her identity and she hugs him. At the same time James receives a visit from his wife who tells him that she has no unfinished business. At 10 o'clock James and his wife say goodbye and Casper, who gives Kat a kiss, becomes a ghost again with all of Kat's classmates present, who are scared and flee in terror. Then James, Kat, and the ghosts continue the party so it doesn't go to waste.

   Carrigan idea un plan de convertir a su secuaz Dibs para encontrar el tesoro pero termina muriendo ella, y ataca a Casper y a Kat pero, Casper se las ingenia para engañarla para que cruce al otro mundo, luego se descubre que el tesoro en realidad es una pelota firmada por un jugador famoso. Casper con ayuda de Kat intenta usar la máquina para resucitar, pero cuando se dan cuenta de que James ahora es un fantasma Casper decide sacrificarse y resucitarlo para que Kat no sufriera. Cuando la fiesta empieza Kat baja a recibir a los invitados y Casper queda triste por no poder asistir, pero el espíritu de la madre de Kat aparece para agradecerle su sacrificio porque Kat Necesita de su padre y le concede volver a la vida pero solamente hasta las 10 de la noche. Casper saca a bailar a Kat quien al principio no lo reconoce pero luego el indirectamente le confiesa su identidad y ella lo abraza. Al mismo tiempo James recibe la visita de su esposa la cual le dice que no tiene ningún asunto pendiente. Al sonar las 10 James y su esposa se despiden y Casper, que le da un beso a Kat vuelve a ser fantasma con todos los compañeros de clases de Kat presentes, los cuales se asustan y huyen despavoridos. Luego James, Kat y los fantasmas continúan con la fiesta para que no se desperdicie.

   My Opinion / Mi Opinión

   I remember that the first time I saw it I was about 5 years old because my dad gave it to me on VHS since I really liked the comics that were on TV. The story is really very beautiful, and the choice of the actors was very good since the development of the characters is very good, I really liked the 3 crazy ghosts which are quite funny and although it is seen that they are half cheats in the end they comply his promise to reunite James with his wife. I also found Casper to be an adorable character and although it made me sad that in the end he couldn't be resurrected, I really liked that he and Kat became great friends. In general, I really liked the performance of the entire cast since they managed to make the movie quite entertaining. Other actors that I really liked are Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci.

   Recuerdo que la primera vez que la ví tendría como 5 años porque mi papá me la regaló en VHS ya que me gustaba mucho las comiquitas que pasaban en la TV. La historia es realmente muy bonita, y la elección de los actores fué muy buena ya que el desarrollo de los personajes es muy bueno, me gustaron mucho los 3 fantasmas locos los cuales son bastante graciosos y aunque se ve que son medio tramposos al final cumplen su promesa de reunir a James con su esposa. También Casper me pareció un personaje adorable y aunque me dió tristeza que al final no lograra resucitar, me gustó mucho que él y Kat se hicieran grandes amigos. En general me gustó mucho la actuación de todo el casting ya que lograron hacer de la película una bastante entretenida. Otros actores que me agradaron mucho son Bill Pullman y Christina Ricci.

   The photography and special effects are also very good, as well as the slightly somber color palette that is seen mostly in the scenes inside the mansion. I also really like that in this movie they show details about Casper's life, such as his last name and cause of his death, it is also revealed that he stayed in the mansion to accompany his father who I was devastated. As time went by, he was left alone and his only company, his ghost uncles, mistreated him a lot, so I perfectly understand why he wants to make friends. Also in this movie I see Casper in a different way from the cartoon since in the cartoon they showed him as a stalker who chased people looking for friendship, however in the movie we can get to know him better and empathize with him in a great way.

   La fotografía y efectos especiales también son muy buenos, así como la paleta de colores un poco sombríos que se ven más que todo en las escenas dentro de la mansión. También me gusta mucho que en esta película muestran detalles sobre la vida de Casper, como por ejemplo su apellido y causa de su muerte, también se revela que él se quedó en la mansión para acompañar a su padre el cual estaba devastado. Al pasar el tiempo se fué quedando solo y su uúnica compañía sus tíos fantasmas lo maltrataban mucho, así que entiendo perfectamente el que quiera hacer amigos. También en esta película veo a Casper de manera distinta a la comiquita ya que en la comiquita lo mostraban como un acosador que perseguía a la gente buscando amistad, sin embargo en la película lo podemos conocer mejor y empatizar de gran manera con él.

   The soundtrack is also something I like about the movie especially the song "Casper The Friendly Ghost". I remember that years ago they gave me a CD with all the soundtrack but in a flood that occurred years ago at home it got wet and damaged. In addition to this movie, I also really liked another one called "Casper Meets Wendy" whose partner for Casper this time is a little witch's apprentice who was played by Hilary Duff as a girl. Although I hadn't seen both movies in a while, getting them back after so long in storage filled me with nostalgia, I'm happy to have been able to enjoy them again today and also to be able to share this one with you.

   La banda sonora también es algo que me gusta de la película en especial la canción "Casper The Friendly Ghost". Recuerdo que hace años me regalaron un CD con todo el sountrack pero en una inundación que hubo hace años en casa se mojó y se dañó. Además de esta película también me gustó mucho otra llamada "Casper Meets Wendy" cuya compañera de Casper esta vez es una pequeña aprendiz de bruja la cual interpretó Hilary Duff siendo una niña. Aunque tenía tiempo sin ver ambas películas, conseguirlas de nuevo después de tanto tiempo guardadas me llenó de nostalgia, estoy feliz de haber podido disfrutarlas hoy otra vez y también de poder compartir esta con ustedes.

This time the central theme is Halloween, I must tell you that I have no particular memory of my childhood on this date because in my country it was not customary to celebrate this holiday, that is, we knew it obviously by movies or TV shows, but it was not customary to see children in costumes asking for candy in the street, today, although it is still not customary to see children in costumes asking for candy in the street, it is increasingly common to have parties with this theme, in addition to decorating shops and malls with things allusive to the holiday.

   Genial, otro concurso de @cinetv, me siento feliz de participar, sobre todo porque este tipo de actividades me permite conocer mejor a los otros Hivers, cuales son sus costumbres y culturas, además de sus gustos cinematográficos desde luego. En esta ocasión el tema central es el Halloween, debo decirles que no tengo ningún recuerdo particular de mi niñez en esta fecha ya que en mi país no era costumbre celebrar esta festividad, es decir, la conocíamos evidentemente por películas o series de televisión, pero no era costumbre ver a niños disfrazados pidiendo dulces por la calle, hoy en día, aunque todavía no se acostumbra ver a niños disfrazados pidiendo dulces en la calle, sí que es cada vez más frecuente hacer fiestas con esta temática, además de adornar tiendas y centros comerciales con cosas alusivas a la festividad.

   What I remember well is that at this time of the year, there were always many films on TV where Halloween was the main theme, but among all of them Casper was my favourite, not only because it starred Christina Ricci, my favourite actress at the time, but also because I remember that I was looking forward to it when it came to the cinema because I used to watch the animated series. When I saw it for the first time I was surprised because although the design of the main character is exactly the same, in the film he has much more depth and even a dark tinge that makes him much more interesting, so I loved it.

   Lo que sí recuerdo bien es que en estas fechas, siempre transmitían por televisión muchas películas donde el halloween era el tema principal, pero entre todas ellas Casper era mi favorita, no solo porque fue protagonizada por Christina Ricci, mi actriz favorita de ese tiempo, sino porque recuerdo que yo la esperé con ansias cuando llegó al cine ya que anteriormente yo veía la serie animada. Cuando la vi por primera vez me sorprendí ya que a pesar de que el diseño del personaje principal es exactamente igual, en la película tiene mucha más profundidad e incluso un tilde oscuro que lo vuelve mucho más interesante, así que me encantó.

   I liked that in this film we got to know the surname of this character (McFadden) plus we also got to know what was the cause of his death (pneumonia) and in fact it is quite a sad scene where Casper talks about this with Kat (Christina Ricci) I remember I felt overwhelmed to see her sad expression as she narrated how he got sick and died, plus it made me see this character from a different approach, Casper was once a happy child, he didn't know his mother because she died in childbirth, but he had a loving father, and suddenly they were separated by death and Casper stayed behind to keep his devastated father company, but eventually he became lonely, his only company (his ghost uncles) mistreated him and living people were afraid of him, can you imagine how he felt? This explains why he was desperately looking for friends.

   Me gustó que en esta película pudimos conocer el apellido de este personaje (McFadden) además de que también supimos cual fue la causa de su muerte (neumonía) y de hecho es una escena bastante triste donde Casper habla sobre esto con Kat (Christina Ricci) recuerdo que me sentí sobrecogida al ver su expresión de tristeza mientras narraba como se enfermó y murió, además me hizo ver a este personaje desde un enfoque diferente, Casper alguna vez fue un niño feliz, no conoció a su madre porque ella murió en el parto, pero tuvo un padre amoroso, y de pronto fueron separados por la muerte y Casper se quedó para hacerle compañía a su padre que estaba devastado, sin embargo eventualmente se fue quedando solo, su única compañía (sus tíos fantasmas) lo maltratan y las personas vivas le temían ¿pueden imaginar como se sentía él? Esto explica porqué buscaba desesperadamente amigos.

   When we learnt about Casper's story, we stopped seeing him as a stalker ghost, who annoys everyone in search of friends, now we see him from a more human point of view, we are able to understand him and we obviously sympathise with him, this had a great impact on me and taught me to think that behind every person there is a story that we must take into consideration before passing any judgement.

   Al conocer la historia de Casper dejamos de verlo como un fantasma acosador, que molesta a todos en busca de amigos, ahora lo vemos desde un punto de vista más humano, somos capaces de entenderlo y evidentemente simpatizamos con él, esto me generó un gran impacto y me enseñó a pensar que detrás de cada persona existe una historia que debemos tomar en consideración antes de emitir cualquier juicio.

   Now that I have seen this film again as an adult I realise the enormous depth it has, it has a message about how we deal with the death of a loved one and how we go through the grieving process, both Casper's father and Kat's father become obsessed with the subject of death and desperately seek the opportunity to be reunited with their loved ones, it made me feel sad but at the same time the film shows us a wonderful and less grim side, I mean all souls can transcend and cross over to the other side where they can rest, we know this because Kat's mother tells her husband when she returns for a few moments, she also tells him that she felt so loved when she was alive that she left no unfinished business in this world, this gave him closure to his suffering and allowed him to let her go, assuming his new life without her, but with the hope of being reunited with her when it was time for him to leave. This escene always made me cry, but it also makes me laugh at the end because of the reaction of everyone who saw Casper turn back into a ghost.

   Ahora que volví a ver esta película de adulta me doy cuenta de la enorme profundidad que tiene, pues guarda un mensaje en torno a como manejamos la muerte de un ser querido y como pasamos por el proceso del duelo, tanto el padre de Casper como el padre de Kat se obsesionan con el tema de la muerte y buscan de forma desesperada la oportunidad de reunirse con sus seres queridos, eso me hizo sentir triste pero, al mismo tiempo la película nos muestra un lado maravilloso y menos lúgubre, me refiero a que todas las almas pueden trascender y cruzar hacia el otro lado donde pueden descansar, lo sabemos porque la madre de Kat se lo dice a su esposo cuando regresa por unos instantes, además también le dice que se sintió tan amada cuando vivía que no dejó ningún asunto pendiente en este mundo, esto le dio a él un cierre a su sufrimiento y le permitió dejarla ir, asumiendo su nueva vida sin ella, pero con la esperanza de reunirse con ella cuando a él le llegara el momento de partir. Esta escena siempre me hace llorar, pero también me hace reír al final debido a la reacción de todos los que vieron a Casper volver a convertirse en fantasma.

   The latter leads me to wonder why we are afraid of ghosts - are we afraid of being harmed or of ending up like them, with some unfinished business that binds us to a sub existence? It would be interesting to look inside ourselves and answer those questions (in case anyone here believes in ghosts).

   Esto último me lleva a preguntarme ¿por qué le tememos a los fantasmas? ¿tenemos miedo de que nos hagan daños o a terminar como ellos, con algún asunto pendiente que nos ate a una sub existencia? sería interesante mirar dentro de nosotros mismos y responder esas preguntas (en el caso de que alguien aquí crea en los fantasmas)

   On the other hand, I also liked that they represented in the film, although in an even hilarious way, everything that an ambitious person is capable of doing to achieve what they want, and this leads me to another important point of the film... the treasure... what is a treasure? this word can have many connotations, what for me can be a treasure, for you it can be rubbish, and this happened to Carrigan, she died in vain in search of what she thought was the treasure (jewels, property documents, money) but what was inside the boot were Casper's belongings, his treasure, something that made him (a clean, noble and selfless soul) happy.

   Por otra parte también me gustó que representaran en la película, aunque de una forma incluso hilarante, todo lo que es capaz de llegar a hacer una persona ambiciosa por lograr lo que desea, y esto me conduce a otro punto importante de la película... el tesoro ¿qué es un tesoro? esta palabra puede tener muchas connotaciones, lo que para mi puede ser un tesoro, para ti puede ser basura, y esto mismo le sucedió a Carrigan, murió en vano en busca de lo que ella creía que era el tesoro (joyas documentos de propiedades, dinero) pero lo que había dentro del baúl eran las pertenencias de Casper, su tesoro, algo que a él (un alma limpia, noble y desinteresada) lo hacía feliz.

   It was because of all these things that I discovered that Casper became an important part of my childhood and I remember it so fondly, it is not just a Halloween movie, but an opportunity to reflect on our actions and to look inside ourselves for unfinished business that we need to resolve.    Por todas estas cosas que descubrí fue que Casper se volvió parte importante de mi infancia y la recuerdo con tanto cariño, no es solo una película de Halloween, sino una oportunidad para reflexionar acerca de nuestras acciones y para mirar dentro de nosotros mismos en busca de asuntos pendientes que tengamos que resolver.
