In this new video, I reflect on what the ending of the movie La La Land (which I consider one of my favorites, by the way) means to me.
I'm taking the time to defend my perspective on what, for me, is one of the best endings to a love story. One that's based on true and deep love.
But you, have you seen La La Land yet? What did you think? Let me know in the comments 💕

›La La Land: A Movie I Avoided Until I Couldn't Anymore ✨@filoso443d
There are some movies you feel like you've seen without ever actually watching them. La La Land was one of those for me. It was introduced endlessly—on TV, on YouTube, through countless reviews and clips. By the time I had the chance to watch it, I felt like I already knew it too well to be curious. And honestly, there was a bit of stubbornness too—I didn’t want to do what everyone was doing at the time.
But one day, with nothing pressing to do and Netflix just a click away, I finally gave in. The play button was right there ▶️. And the reasons to give this film a chance were many:
The lead actress is Emma Stone.
The music is good 🎶.
The colors are beautiful 🎨.
I like dancing 💃.
A TITLE FULL OF MEANING
According to Namuwiki, the title La La Land refers to a dreamlike state, a land of fantasies. It also carries a subtle criticism—“living in La La Land” can imply being out of touch with reality. Add to that its phonetic similarity to L.A. 🌴, the heart of the entertainment industry, and the title becomes a brilliant metaphor for the story it tells.
STAR POWER
Ryan Gosling plays Sebastian, the jazz pianist. I wasn’t especially interested in him as an actor, but I looked him up and realized he starred in The Notebook (2004) 💌. His past relationships with co-stars like Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams also pop up in the search results—Hollywood always makes sure personal and professional lives intertwine in the public eye.
Emma Stone, who plays Mia, left an impression on me in The Amazing Spider-Man 🕷️, and like Gosling, she too dated her co-star in real life. Her distinct facial features—large eyes, expressive face—sometimes give off an anime-like vibe. Maybe that’s part of why she fit so well in Cruella too.
(Side note: If you want to date an actress, maybe becoming an actor really is the fastest route.)
AN AESTHETIC STATEMENT
The movie's poster seems to say, “I am a great film” 🎬, and it lives up to the promise. The opening sequence, filmed on a blocked-off LA freeway, is a joyful burst of music and color. It loudly announces: yes, this is a musical.
But curiously, that grandeur doesn’t continue consistently. Unlike Mamma Mia, where song and dance are constant companions, La La Land is more restrained. Maybe it’s the difference between a jukebox musical filled with ABBA hits and an original score. Or maybe La La Land just chooses its moments more carefully.
THE SCENE EVERYONE REMEMBERS
The hilltop dance scene. The streetlight. The sunset. It’s probably the most iconic moment in the film. Interestingly, the location itself isn’t especially impressive in real life. But with the addition of just one streetlight, director Damien Chazelle transformed it into something magical ✨. That’s the power of vision—and cinema.
A NOT-SO-TYPICAL ENDING
I expected a happy ending. Two dreamers pursuing their goals, falling in love—it felt like it was heading there. But the ending is... different. It's not tragic, but it’s not quite what I hoped for either. Maybe it's happy in its own way—both characters achieving their dreams. But for the audience? It might leave a bittersweet taste.
FINAL THOUGHTS
La La Land surprised me. It was more understated than I expected, more grounded, more real. It’s a musical, yes, but also a reflection on love, dreams, and the cost of ambition. And while I initially avoided it, I’m glad I finally pressed play. Some things are worth experiencing for yourself, no matter how often they’ve been talked about.
Hello lovers of movies in the house, still on Christmas celebration. Guess what, I have an interesting movie you have to watch, you can't just afford to miss it, so simply grab your popcorn and search for it on YouTube(LA LA LAND) it is only available on YouTube for now.
THE PLOT :(Romance, Love, Dreams, And Sacrifice)
La la land is a romantic musical movie directed by Damien Chazelle starring Ryan Gosling as Sebastian and Emma Stone as Mia. Set in Los Angeles, it follows the international lives of two ambitious dreamers - Sebastian a jazz musician and Mia an aspiring actress.
Both struggling to find success in their respective careers while navigating with their complex relationship. The movie opens with a vibrant musical tone. "Another day of sun" on a crowded Los Angeles freeway during rush hour. This sets the tone for the movie's playful yet poignant exploration of love ,dreams and sacrifice that comes with them.Mia working as a barista on a studio set is repeatedly rejected from audition, growing disillusioned by the restless pursuit of fame.
Sebastian on the other hand is a passionate jazz playlist with dreams of opening his own club but was forced to play in a mediocre jazz band to make ends meet. Their first meeting was antagonistic, Mia is frustrated with Sebastian for honking at his car and Sebastian is annoyed by her judgment of his music.
Despite their rocky start, the two meet again at a party where Mia attends out of curiosity and Sebastian performs as part of the band. They begin to bond over their shared dreams and aspirations and their romantic relationship blossoms as they encourage each other to pursue their passions.
Mia writes a one- woman's play and Sebastian, though financially unstable, eventually opens his jazz club. However their relationship is tested by the realities of their Dreams. Mia's plays didn't garner the attention she hoped for leading her to question her path while Sebastian is offered a lucrative gig with a pop musician which compromises his ideas of preserving jazz.
As their individual successes and failures pull them in different directions their love story faces challenges. Mia's growing frustration with the sacrifice she is making for Sebastian, along with his increasing time and commitment for his band strains their bond. Despite these struggles they remain supportive of each other's dreams. Though the weight of their respective careers forces them to make different choices.
Eventually after a period of separation , Mia gets the role of a lifetime in a movie and Sebastian jazz club finally finds success . The movie culminates in a bittersweet yet beautiful fantasy sequence where the two envision what their life could have been like if they had stayed together and the final scene shows how Mia now successfully passes.
MY REVIEW ABOUT THIS MOVIE(LA LA LAND)
La la land is a visually stunning and emotionally moving movie . It celebrates the magic of Los Angeles and their chase for dreams while also exploring the struggle that comes with balancing love and ambition. With its beautiful music, amazing performance and powerful themes. I think this movie stands out as both a tribute to classic.
I assure you this movie is a must -see for everyone who loves heartfelt and artistic movies.
All the pictures are gotten from the movie as well
Those who do not like jazz often say that it is music that brings more enjoyment to those playing it than to those listening it. Sometimes it is hard to shake the impression that the same could be said about films aimed at winning Oscars and other prestigious awards – they almost always bring more joy to the artists who make them than to the audiences who watch them. This can even happen with films that achieve success in their Oscar-winning ambitions. One such example is La La Land, a romantic musical directed by Damien Chazelle in 2016, which, whether by coincidence or not, has jazz music as one of its central themes.
La La Land in the title is a term used to describe Los Angeles, or more precisely, its entertainment industry and its members, whose dreams, worldviews, and life priorities often have very little connection to real life. One of them is Sebastian Wilder (played by Ryan Gosling), a jazz pianist obsessed with the purity of musical style who struggles to accept that his beloved music is being "spiced up" with more modern and commercial elements. His dream is to one day own a club where he can play the true, unadulterated, and authentic jazz. Mia Dolan (played by Emma Stone) is a former student who decides to head to Los Angeles to start an acting career but finds herself waiting tables after six years of countless auditions. Mia and Sebastian meet by chance several times, but it takes time for them to realise their mutual attraction and begin a romantic relationship. In doing so, they become each other's inspiration and help each other make decisions that could change their career trajectories. Mia decides, at Sebastian's suggestion, to write and stage a one-woman show, while Sebastian agrees to join a jazz fusion band at Mia's urging and gradually gains money and fame. However, Mia is less successful, which eventually creates an insurmountable gap between the two.
La La Land did not succeed in its aim to win the Oscar for Best Picture, but Damien Chazelle could console himself with the Oscar for Best Director, as well as five others, including those he likely cared about most – for Best Music and Best Song. Following such prestigious awards came very good box office results and critical acclaim that declared Chazelle's film an unquestionable masterpiece. As with many "Oscar" triumphs, after some time many of them begin to seem overly hyped, revealing flaws that were previously overlooked; La La Land is not without its shortcomings. Some of these can be easily concealed by Chazelle's talent in choosing Los Angeles locations, directing several quite appealing musical and dance numbers, or the excellent performances of Gosling and Stone. However, some problems are impossible to hide, especially those of a conceptual nature.
Chazelle, who shares a deep love for jazz with his protagonist, envisioned his film as a sort of homage to classic Hollywood musicals of the 1940s and 1950s. However, on the other hand, he set the plot and characters in the 2010s, attempting to provide a somewhat realistic and convincing story; yet this means La La Land will always be overshadowed by the conflict between dreams and reality, creating an impression of a film whose characters and narrative would feel much more at home in different temporal-spatial coordinates. A significant problem lies in the poorly constructed character of Mia, who behaves throughout the film like a spoiled, passive-aggressive creature that is destructive towards Sebastian but for whom the script demands sympathy from the audience. Stone, who would win an Oscar for her role, did her best but could not resolve this issue. Although Gosling made an effort to learn how to play piano for this film, his lack of musical talent is quite evident in scenes where he is required to sing. Chazelle also struggles with pacing; thus La La Land feels rather drawn out, particularly highlighted in its bittersweet finale partially inspired by the French musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
However, La La Land mostly falters due to missed opportunities. Chazelle, who worked tirelessly to make his debut Whiplash, likely envisioned this film as a sort of reckoning with Hollywood and all its negatives. The script contains some fairly subversive elements, such as Sebastian's assertion that "Los Angeles loves everything but values nothing." However, Chazelle lacked the courage to push these ideas through to their conclusion, succumbing instead to pressure to create a spectacularly appealing fairy tale about the American dream factory and depicting a world that can increasingly be questioned as to whether it ever truly existed.
›La ciudad de las estrellas - La La Land [SPA-ENG]@palomap3647d
Hola, querido hiver.

I've got back into the habit of watching films and series and although I've been doing it for a couple of months I hadn't dared to write a review. Until today. Needless to say, I'm not an expert film buff. Don't expect data and knowledge or a thorough analysis here. I have a very basic level of knowledge thanks to the fact that I took an optional audiovisual subject in high school. But I do want to write down my impressions when there is a film or series that moves me, either for better or for worse. I'll skip the introductions and get straight to the point: my review of City of Stars or La La Land.
I confess that this film made me lazy because it is a musical. It's an incongruous detail in me, since I love music, in any style. However, my generation has witnessed few releases of this genre that have been successful in both acting and musicals.
As if that wasn't enough, until yesterday I hadn't seen any of the lead actors perform. I have been out of touch with film and audiovisual news for many years. I knew their names and little else, which I consider an advantage when evaluating their work in this film.
The story follows the relationship of Mia (Emma Stone), a waitress who dreams of becoming an actress and who accumulates casting call after casting call in which she is not selected. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) is a jazz-crazed pianist who works playing wherever he can, i.e. low-class venues.
What is initially presented as a lighthearted and dynamic comedy slows down as the two characters grow closer. The setting accompanies these changes, from a brightness at the beginning of the film to an intimate darkness.
The two partners support each other's dreams. Both go through great disappointments in which throwing in the towel is the most sensible thing to do. It is then that love comes to the surface and provides the extra boost of motivation and self-confidence that the lover needed to try one more time.
I won't say more so as not to spoiler. But its ending is one of the most incredible I've ever seen. The last five minutes of the film stirs your soul and makes you wonder if what you've seen up to that point is reality or part of a dream. It's superbly crafted, it puts life itself in front of us and I think that's why it goes so deep.
As for the work of the actors, Emma Stone won the Oscar for this film and it is totally deserved. She goes through every possible emotion, sometimes within the same scene, she sings, she dances, and her image as a seemingly weak girl is an exquisite contrast.
However, the male lead barely conveyed anything to me, I'm sorry to say. The boy is cute, but he spends most of the film with the same expression. Only in the end does he seem to try to caress the level of his partner, falling far below. To leave you with a better taste in your mouth, I'll praise his dancing skills, which surprised me for the better.
The photography, costumes, decoration... create a dreamlike landscape that invites you to dream. The music is delightful, with well-known melodies that lead us through the entire emotional spectrum.
In short, I recommend it with my eyes closed. It is one of those films that you have to see at least once because it is a classic of the future.

›SOUNDTRACK: La La Land (2016) - Opinion [ENG - ESP]@aaalviarez749d
Is talking about the soundtrack of a musical like raining on a doughnut? Is it like adding more sugar to a doughnut before eating it? Well, I don't think of it that way. I'll answer that at the end. In the meantime I want to tell you about the sountrack of the movie La La Land (2016). In the past I wrote a review about the movie itself, but today I want to focus on its soundtrack and why it's one of the ones I listen to the most. Please stay until the end.
The influence of jazz and the sound of the piano is present throughout the album, taking into account that its protagonist, Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) plays and composes with this instrument and is a jazz lover. I like that when playing the album I can switch back and forth between the instrumental songs and the songs with lyrics. Also, I really appreciate that it's in the order they appear in the film. If one is concentrating you can even change moods like when the film is moving forward in its story.
In view of that structure, I will tell you about this album by dividing the songs into two groups:
SONGS WITH LYRICS
A LOVELY NIGHT The lyrics practically show a dialogue between the two protagonists. But it seems more like a courtship. However, both recognize what they like and what they don't like, what they believe to be true and what seems to be subject to the molds of the society where they live. They don't forget the humor, making little jokes about their appearances and expectations, being signs that they really do see their union as possible. It is inevitable to listen to this song without being reminded of the scene in the movie where it is shown, which honors the first verses of the song about the romantic environment they are in. Wait, is Se whistling? The pauses and energy mid-song is very good.
CITY OF STARS This is one of the songs they decided to show part way through, which I think is great. As the movie progresses we can see the evolution of the song. First, it comes to our ears with no lyrics, just the chords on a sad guitar as Seb listens to the reasons why Mia (Emma Stone) doesn't like jazz, and effortlessly that's what the song is called at the moment: "Mia hates jazz". Then, he reappears with Seb at the piano, who whistles along and sings a phenomenal verse, talking about his own vision and future, but still doesn't finish it. Then, with their relationship consummated, he appears suggesting that the song is still in the oven, but Mia is encouraged to improvise and add her own verse, to then give way to a bridge where they both sing together about their expectation of finding love and giving it place above their artistic career, ending with the slow and sad chords of the beginning. This song will have its final appearance in the last tracks, and at the end of the film's credits, with just the chords and Mia humming along. Beautiful.
AUDITION (the fools who dream). It belongs to the third act of the film, with Mia auditioning before a jury who invites her to evoke a memory. She speaks of a woman who dies with the desire to return to the thing that took her life little by little, suggesting the idea that we must follow our dreams even if they seem to be killing us. Quite a time to recite this, isn't it? In view of the fact that she finds herself at an audition where she didn't want to be and was brought in almost in fits and starts. But there she was, still pursuing her dream of being a great actress, with a high vulnerability. A simple song, with a clear message.
INSTRUMENTAL
HERNAN'S HABIT and SUMMER MONTAGE / MADELINE are two jazzy songs that show the joy and purity that Seb wanted Mia to see. Seb appears in both songs when they are shown in the film, excited about what is happening in that composition or improvisation of each song. They are two songs that, through your ears, he is showing you the place where Seb wants to be and that he wants Mia to be with him. The energy it transmits is very positive and even makes you want to dance, although if we try to recreate the same steps of Mia in the second piece could question our sanity.
MIA & SEBASTIAN THEME. Another of the songs that take shape as the story progresses. We meet these chords with both protagonists about to meet, in a restaurant where Seb is hired to play Christmas music, but there he improvises with an ending that has nothing to do with the song itself or the genre requested, costing him his job. Later, she is recognized by Mia while she is in a restaurant with other people and then decides to leave them to join Seb in a more formal relationship. Here the song has more form, a better arrangement and a fitting ending. The song "Planetarium" lasts 4 minutes and 19 seconds, and includes the "Mia & Sebastian Theme", with an orchestral arrangement where it shows that it is already an accomplished piece, recognizable to the audience, and helped by the images of the dance inside the planetarium, can help us relate it to the couple. It's their song.
IT'S OVER / ENGAGEMENT PARTY. Is the missing piece of the puzzle. When you understand the story, these chords are the ones that will mark this last section. The piano seems to cry, slowing down at the end, but ending as if it were a love song. Or are they telling us that some endings are sad but characterized by love?
EPILOGUE
This is the best song of the film, not only because it brings together the songs we have been listening to throughout the production, but it shows us that they have been just part of a whole. This song takes us through different rhythms, speeds, tones, instruments, evoking in us feelings, as it has happened in the story we are about to finish telling, and as it happens in our life itself.
The piano at first seems to be hesitant to start playing once again, because even some of its notes have very little volume, compared to others, and only increases its volume and energy when the second hand begins to accompany the first. The orchestra bursts in with stunning harmony leaving behind that melancholic piano showing you the beauty of the story. The pauses are well-timed and well thought out, making the transition from one rhythm to the next seamless.
The changes of speeds and alternating instruments help a lot to that change of mood I was referring to, evoking how high and sublime can feel the dreams we want to achieve with the people we love, how sad loneliness can sound, evoked by those solos of the guitar in the middle of the song. After taking you through that roller coaster ride, it brings you comfortably back to tranquility, and ending as we began. Wait, is that sad piano again? It's seven minutes and forty seconds without waste. It's one of the YouTube videos I watch the most.
The album doesn't forget commercial songs like A-Ha's "Take on Me," and A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran," which serves as Mia's dagger for Seb the second time around. If you detail the lyrics you can see what I mean, which is a great way to use music to introduce comedy into a musical. Well, it's not like they invented it either, but I thought it was a very nice touch.
I have this disc downloaded on my computer, and I don't need internet to play it. It is an excellent work and compilation that even contains some additional tracks with the audio of scenes from the movie. For me, talking about the soundtrack of a musical is not throwing more sugar on a donut. It is to open the donut in the middle and discover its wonderful arequipe filling that will show the very essence of what it is made of. If that filling turns out to be good, there will be no problem eating it alone. See you next time!
CITY OF STARS. Hermoso.
AUDITION (the fools who dream).
IT'S OVER / ENGAGEMENT PARTY.

This is not the first time I have talked about La La Land in this community and the reason for this is quite clear: every time I decide to watch it again I find something totally new.
Regardless of what we think of his filmography, Damien Chazelle is one of the most brilliant filmmakers that exist today, something he has demonstrated with a small catalog but characterized by an incredibly consistent level of quality, where even the most polarizing films (I'm referring to Babylon, obviously) they manage to stand well above the average to which this industry has accustomed us.
However, I believe that this man had never been so close to absolute perfection as when he directed "La La Land", a musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone that, within a love story that is touching and devastating in almost equal quantities, knows how to brilliantly capture the toxic relationship that many of us have with success, capable of sacrificing whatever is necessary to achieve it.
A couple of months ago I wrote a brief review in which I delved deeply into this aspect of the film, on that occasion, taking as a starting point the thematic similarities it had with whiplash (another Chazelle film that explored the search for success within the show business, although he approached it from a murkier angle).
I still agree with this position and for me it is one of the main reasons why it is easy to connect with La La Land, but, in my most recent viewing, I ended up emphasizing its more "optimistic" aspects, something that actually does not ignore the pain of its tragic events but rather reinterpret them from a sweeter than sour perspective.
You see, La La Land has always existed (for me) in a limbo where it worships and pays homage to the world of entertainment, but is also capable of showing its negative aspects with a cynicism that is easy to ignore thanks to its own tone. Mia, the young actress, is never presented as someone more talented than the other women around her, unless we are observing her through the eyes of Sebastián, someone who is obviously blinded by the love he feels for her.
Sebastián, on the other hand, is a man who feels a genuine passion for jazz, but at the same time is incapable of giving in when it comes to realizing his dreams, determined to fulfill them within his own terms and rejecting what the modern society has done with the culture it worships.
Although describing its protagonists in this way could make us think that La La Land is a love story between two mediocre people, ironically, these defects are what allow us to connect with them, appealing to that ambitious and childish part within us. A part who sadly dies when we grow and must settle for being something in life that we never wanted to be.
As a person who has always been obsessed with cinema, music and television, I sometimes feel that it is impossible for me to connect with someone except through the art that I love, not only as a consumer but also as a person capable to create it to a greater or lesser extent.
Every conversation held between Mía and Sebastián is built on art: the longing for the classics of the past, the possibility of enjoying what we have in the present, and why not: the ability to create more things for the future.
There's love? Yes, but it is a love strategically positioned between their passions, and they use themselves as an engine to achieve everything they want, until unfortunately the cost of those desires separates them.
While this doesn't make the ending any less depressing, it does end up recontextualizing the feelings of both protagonists when they meet again 5 years later, both flooded with the overwhelming idea of "what if...", but satisfied with the fact that the sacrifice taken mutually took them to the place they wanted.

Hello everyone! Lovers of good entertainment. Dear Movies & TVShows community, this time I want to share with you a new review, this time of a very well known movie, which I'm sure you've heard of, and most likely have seen. Considered by many as one of the best movies of the last decade, I will give you my opinions of the movie: La La Land. It is clear that this movie is on the favorite list of many moviegoers. Starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, this film stands out for its impressive aesthetics and choreography... of course, also for its great ability to convey and provoke many emotions, all this through a mixture of romance, music and drama, which undoubtedly knew how to approach in a sublime way.
From the first moment, it immerses us in a stylish world, and a vibrant musical spirit that characterizes Los Angeles. This opening is not only visually great, but it also shows you what the tone of the film will be: a celebration of life, dreams and music.... The music is very catchy, something that grabs the viewer's attention very quickly... And it transports you into this captivating artistic dynamic.
The main characters here in this story are Mia and Sebastian, two big dreamers who are struggling to reach their goals and dreams in the big and competitive world of Los Angeles entertainment!!! Mia is a classic aspiring actress.... She works as a barista while trying to audition for some roles, and Sebastian is a pianist, who hopes to open his own club someday, and be recognized. Their paths cross, and from there, we will see how their lives slowly intertwine...both personally, and professionally as well.
One of the things I loved the most about this great movie, is the great chemistry, which is very palpable between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Their performances are very sincere, and they really manage to transmit many intense emotions throughout the film, it is very enjoyable to see their characters interact, the relationship between them develops naturally. It's not a typical perfect love story, they have their ups and downs, their moments of joy... but also of sadness, which makes the viewer identify, and the story in general resonates more, it's more realistic...

The music featured in this film deserves a special mention as well... the original songs are very memorable, I thought they were excellent.... They are perfectly integrated to the whole atmosphere, and to the narrative. Each musical number is not only a visual delight for the eyes, but it also moves the story forward and deepens a lot with the development and journey that these characters are having. Songs like “City of Stars” and “Audition” were my favorites, they are such standouts...and they stick in your head long after you've finished watching the movie.
On the other hand, I've already said it, but visually La La Land is a delight, the cinematography that the director has is spectacular... using a vibrant color palette and lighting that is reminiscent of those classic old Hollywood musicals, plus all the carefully composed scenes... wow, no doubt in technical quality I think it is one of the best I've seen. In addition, the dance numbers are brilliantly choreographed with great precision, and gracefully executed by the very talented performers, this adds an additional level of enjoyment to this story, it feels familiar, yet unique.
The direction is impeccable, you can really feel the director's love for jazz and musicals. You can feel it in every frame of the film, he masterfully manages the balance between nostalgia for classic musicals and a modern experience, which makes this film feel very fresh. Despite its incredible qualities, like everything else in life, it's not perfect. There are moments where the narrative can feel a bit predictable, and I felt a few times that the pacing became a bit slow at some points. However, these are minor quibbles in a film that, for the most part, is an extremely satisfying cinematic experience.... Though clearly, when something becomes very popular, there will obviously be criticisms. Some people have argued that La La Land is overrated or that it doesn't deserve all the nominations and awards it's received...
Personally, I think that clearly those opinions are valid, but it doesn't diminish the fact that this movie is very well-made, with great heart, impressive execution, and most important of all, it has touched thousands of people, who started watching it and when they finished it they didn't feel the same, that's very significant. I believe that not all films have to be revolutionary to be works of art, and La La Land with its charm and style, manages to capture the essence of pursuing dreams, despite all the obstacles that life will put in the way.
The constant struggle between chasing all your dreams and the realities of everyday life... is something that many can surely relate to. Mia and Sebastian face various obstacles and sacrifices on their way to success, the story shows you all the difficulties of what it's like to try to move forward. This realism in the film adds a lot of depth, and makes the story more impactful. Another thing I liked is how the nature of love and relationships is explored, all mixed with the context of pursuing individual dreams. The relationship between the main characters is not fairy tale love, the film shows all their personal ambitions, and how they sometimes conflict with what the relationship is really about.. which leads to some tense moments. This realistic approach is one of the best things about this film.
The ending of the film is very reflective... it leaves the viewer thinking. This reflection on dreams is one of the most powerful aspects of this film. We see as always, despite the joy, there was also that feeling of faint sadness, moments of melancholy.... The transitions between the incredibly vibrant musical numbers, and the more emotional scenes are handled with great skill. This film is undoubtedly a celebration of cinema, music and dreams. It is a film that manages to be both a tribute to old musicals, as well as something modern and beautiful, showing us universal themes such as love and ambition. With incredible performances, great music, and truly exquisite direction...
La La Land is a film that is totally worth seeing and enjoying. If you haven't seen it, I invite you to give it a chance, even if musicals are not your thing, you will surely fall in love with this story. I give it a great rating of 9.8/10. While not perfect, it is certainly one of the best movies I have seen, and one that will surely be remembered for a long time. The lasting impression, and the feeling it achieves, certainly make it unique. I share with you the trailer for you to take a look, I hope you liked this review, see you in the next one! Take care of yourselves!

Hello dear Hive community, I hope you are doing well and are having a nice week, for my part it has been loaded with a lot of work but that does not mean that I didn't have time to watch a nice movie like La La Land.
Well I guess here more than I know about the Oscars and their nominations throughout history, but something that caught my attention at the time I was reading the nominees is that they mentioned another film which had participated Ryan Gosling which I can appreciate in Babie and it is La La Land a film which has had quite a few Oscar nominations in his year and I got to ask myself why?
Among the cast that we can appreciate in this story is Emma Stone as Mia, Ryan Gosling as Sebastian, J.K Simmons as Bill, Jonho Legend as Keith, Finn Wittrock among other actors, the music is composed by Justin Hurwtiz, director Damien Chazelle and is the work of 2016.

The story is about two dreamers of life those who have dreams and live for their passions but have not achieved them ... that happens to Mia a girl who wants to be an actress but has not been launched to stardom, on the other hand we have Sebastian a passionate Jazz player who likes to play and wants to have his own club where his music is not corrupted and can share it with others What happens if these two dreamy souls meet, can love outweigh the dreams?
The story as such is a musical but if I'm honest I'm not a fan of musicals is more what just enjoyed were Disney but this movie certainly makes these new parts Sena boring instead of them are entertaining and make you see the lyrics more carefully, on the other hand the scenery I liked and specific parts I can say that visually I liked but I do not feel that this is what will highlight the most for me subjectively opinion.
The story shows us two people who are looking for their dreams but when they meet they try to look for them together, on the one hand Sebastian realizes that sometimes to get what we want we must do things that we do not feel like doing but with them it is more possible to achieve our goal, on the other hand Mia tries in a different way to achieve her goal of being an actress, both are already couples but trying to achieve their dream they lose a little love not because they no longer love each other but because they are more separated, so they reach a moment of a breakup.
Sincerely this couple seems very real to me, many times our love can be true in every way but many times it doesn't reach them, you have to take care of things but that love despite being real and strong is only a transition that person who can trust you more than yourself, something that Mia lived it the truth that scene where he supports her when she already threw in the towel filled me with sentimentality despite the fact that "I will always love you" sometimes is what remains of an unconditional love of support.
This ending...I am a hopeless romantic and I am also aware of things, I am a dreamer who does my best to get what I want and the fact that they could fill me with happiness, maybe they don't end the way the viewer expects but it is a real ending. Many times you have to let go of the person you think is right but is not the one, besides being a love movie, I feel it is a well executed overcoming movie and a nice musical. My rating is a 9/10 (my heart would have wanted something happier) but we are always left wondering if it would have been....

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whatever time of day you are reading this, I greet you. I haven't been in this community for a long time, I confess that I had not seen La La Land before, until a few days ago I decided to see it and.... Why nobody told me it was a musical? or at least that's what I would say if I didn't grow up watching movies like High School Musical and others from Disney Channel, actually I do like musicals and I'm tired of pretending that I don't...
La La Land is a 2016 film directed by Damien Chazelle and starring (I stand up) Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, playing Mia, an aspiring actress and Sebastian, a jazz pianist. I admit that I knew about the movie but for some reason I had never decided to see it, I just let it pass (and that happens to me with many productions that I know about them but I have never seen them), until I finally decided to do it and the truth to me I thought it was a very good movie, it has humor, it has music, it has drama, it has romance, it has everything!
Surely many have already seen this movie, but I still do not want to make spoilers because surely there are many like me, who have not yet seen the film after so long after its release. The protagonists after several events begin to have a relationship and a coexistence, both are still looking for their dreams, but it is not so easy because Mia never passes the auditions and Sebastian is still an unemployed jazz pianist who fights against that jazz is a music only for restaurants.
I won't give too many details about the movie, but, in the end Mia's dream of being an actress is fulfilled and Sebastian's dream of opening his own club and not letting "real" Jazz die, which if you ask me is fine, but the character tends to be like rock fans who say "the music died" or "only rock is real music" the bad thing is that Mia ends up married to another man and has a daughter, they meet again in Sebastian's club and imagine what their life would have been like if they were still together.
It really is a movie that I recommend to see, sorry for not being so good in this opportunity to review, but I did not want to tell the whole movie and I saw it recently (I'm still processing that they have not been together). As a fact, this movie got 14 Oscar nominations and won 6 of them (one of them to Emma Stone as best actress). I highly recommend this movie especially if you don't dislike musicals, it will make you laugh and cry, the chemistry between the actors is very good, the scenes between them feel very natural. I'll say goodbye for now, thank you very much for reading and I hope to see you in a future post ❤️
Totalmente recomendada!
Hi hive, today I come to talk about a movie that I wanted to see for a long time, but I never had the chance, so yesterday I was bored looking for some interesting movie and I came across this one again and for this reason is that today I want to talk about La La Land.
La La La Land is a romantic musical released in 2016, directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. This movie shows us Mia and Sebastian who cross paths and realize that both can complement each other to fulfill their dreams, but obviously not everything is perfection and the ups and downs are not long in coming. Now, after having given a little context, let's get started!
It should be noted that since this movie came out I always wanted to see it because I really like Emma Stone's career, however between one thing and another I never ended up seeing it, but it seemed to me that it had an interesting proposal, because although I have never been the number one fan of musicals if I feel that this one had something different ... is it really so?
First I always like to start talking about what I loved most about the film and in this case I had a hard time deciding on one, and it has many good aspects, but to start highlighting one would be the general direction of the film, it is quite amazing how La La Land takes advantage of all the resources to convey as many emotions as possible, plus the cinematic shots are amazing, mixing an old aesthetic but with a fairly modern production, creating a very interesting and original balance.
Undoubtedly in a musical the music must stand out, but not only have to be simple dance scenes to fill spaces in the story, but they have to use music as a channel to finish conveying the message, small melodies that unite the characters, songs that tell us the feelings of our protagonists and how little by little a "great song" is built, this concept La La Land has it extremely clear and it is that it takes the "musical" very seriously, because in this aspect the film does not fail at any time.
The cast is amazing and I really couldn't expect anything less from Emma stone and Ryan Gosling, both excellent actors and as if that wasn't enough they have a great chemistry, this makes us sincerely empathize with each of the characters and what they have between them, because everything feels very genuine and real.
The message of La La Land is quite beautiful, that is the perfect word to define it, to see how both characters complement each other and support each other until at a point of "maturity" their paths separate, however leaving intact the love and affection that exists between the two characters, it may dream a little exaggerated because it is indeed a movie, but I also consider that it can be something quite common in everyday relationships, that's why it conveys so much feeling.
Since last night when I saw the movie I have kept the soundtracks on loop, with few movies this happens to me, but with this one from the first song I knew that the soundtracks were going to be perfect, and indeed, even listening to songs like "Another day Of Sun" or "City Of Star" makes my skin crawl with emotion, incredible!
I want to mention that I had high expectations when I decided to see this movie, several people had recommended it to me and I had already read on the internet that it was a good movie, but I admit that although they were high I still exceeded them, I honestly did not think that this movie was going to reach me so much.
In conclusion I think it is a great movie and an excellent musical, it was really hard for me to find a bad point to this movie, because until the end it left me quite satisfied, I consider it one of the best movies of Damien Chazelle and I feel that La La Land could easily become my new "comfort movie". Totally recommended!
After several years of completely ignoring it and partially motivated by how much I had liked Whiplash, I decided to give it a try for the first time in what is probably the best-known film in Damien Chazelle's entire filmography: La La Land, a musical starring by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone where we follow the story of two emerging artists (A musician and an actress) who fall madly in love at a rare moment in their lives.
You see, beyond the high level of recognition they received at the time (with an Oscar for Best Director included), it's easy to dismiss a film of this type if our tastes don't superficially align with everything that it appears to be, as someone who has never felt a level of affinity for musicals and who found their aesthetics corny and pompous, in the midst of my ignorance I felt there was nothing of value to see here... A serious mistake.
Although La La Land is a romantic movie with all that this implies, at the end of the day it is nothing more than a facade to present us with one of the most humane stories I have had the opportunity to see in a long time, where in between of a selection of musical themes composed by the excellent Justin Hurwitz (who, by the way, also had a hand in the recent Babylon and the previously mentioned Whiplash) plunges us into a world where unfortunately our artistic and professional ambitions must exist to the detriment of personal connections.
The key to its effectiveness lies in the efficient use of every second of the footage, where we follow the first steps in Sebastián and Mía's relationship, the way in which both complement each other and promote their ambitions, and later, the emergence of a series of drawbacks that make it unfeasible.
Was it a matter of timing? Did they want to show us the cost involved in the search for perfection? Should we question the decision of its protagonists? In the end, although it is interesting to stop to analyze each of these questions, the painful reality is that any answer we can give is not going to alter the course of the events we witness, this seems beautiful to me.
If Whiplash ambiguously studied the idea of breaking your soul to achieve our goals, La La Land presents us with a slightly more subtle vision of the same idea, less physically exhausting, but at the same time just as tragic.
The impact that one of them had on the life of the other is permanent, but unfortunately, the world took them on different paths.
La La Land is a beautiful film no matter how you look at it, there is not a single aspect that has not been perfectly executed for the story that was wanted to be told, from details as minute as the costumes of its characters, the way in which they they move in and out of the frames, how they express their opinions by speaking, singing, or with any non-verbal gesture. She's obsessed with nostalgia, but instead of filling us with empty hopes, she decides to accept life as it is, promising us that despite the pain everything will eventually be alright.
›The Oscars is coming up - Don't waste your time on La La Land@unbiasedwriter1227d
The Academy Awards is arranged this Sunday. It is a fantastic event and I look forward to it myself. But I have learned long time ago that not all movies winning actual awards are worth watching. One of the worst examples is La La Land. If you haven't seen it yet, read this review, and forget about watching it.
Why you shouldn't watch La La Land.
La La Land, the movie that won several Oscars, is a complete waste of time. The fact that it received any awards is baffling to me because the movie is a disaster from start to finish.
Firstly, the plot of La La Land is incredibly predictable and cliche. The movie follows the story of a struggling actress and musician trying to make it in Hollywood, a plot that has been done countless times before in much better films. The characters are flat, uninteresting, and lack any depth whatsoever.
Furthermore, the musical numbers in La La Land are uninspired and forgettable. The songs are forgettable, the choreography is bland and the performances lack any real emotion or passion. The movie tries to pay homage to old Hollywood musicals but fails miserably in comparison to the classics.
The chemistry between the two main characters is also non-existent. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone seem to be going through the motions without any real connection or spark between them. Their performances are lackluster and do nothing to elevate the film.
Moreover, the movie suffers from pacing issues. The first half of the movie drags on with nothing much happening, while the second half feels rushed and disjointed, with the story jumping from one plot point to the next without any real continuity or coherence.
In conclusion, La La Land is a movie that fails on every level. The predictable plot, uninspired musical numbers, lackluster performances, and pacing issues all add up to a film that is not worth watching. The fact that it won several Oscars is a complete mystery to me, and I would not recommend wasting your time on this overhyped and underwhelming movie.
Sipping a cup of tea while feeling the morning raindrops, my beloved wished me a sweet morning. A sweet smile formed on my face. I played a song of my choice to feel his love.
The sun is nearly gone.
The lights are turning on.
A silver shine that stretches to the sea
We've stumbled on a view
That's tailor-made for two
What a shame those two are you and me
We all want a person in our life whose presence we get inspiration from. Whom we are ready to do anything for love. For which we proceed to fulfil our dreams.
So, how's your love life going? Are you waiting for someone like that? That will make you feel precious at every moment. If there is someone in your life who loves you anew every moment, never let him go.
A movie that will give you a heavenly feeling of love. It will help you ask questions about love. I will help you how to make every moment beautiful with your sweetheart. The film will help you get lost in the world of dreams, forcing you to watch certain scenes repeatedly.
Have you ever seen a movie where love is beautiful? Love doesn't have to end in sadness; it's a story that never ends.
Very few movies have made me think this way. I longed to return again and again to that heaven, which was ready to fill my heart with love. We change paths for minor reasons or to fulfil our dreams. One time all their dreams came true. After everything, I miss the most the person who changed me. We may be satisfied with the pleas position, but we have already lost the person who reached the peak of usefulness to allow him to move on. After watching the movie La La Land these words came to mind the most.
This movie is a perfect sample of the romantic genre. This movie is a combination of beautiful cinematography, music, and romanticism. So here is my honest review and maybe a little bit of a spoiler.
About the Movie
In the opening scene, you'll see a bunch of guys (most of them in their 30s) worrying about it. Sings and dances across a traffic jam to forget the harsh reality. It was first started by a woman wearing a yellow dress and immediately followed by two men.
After this delightful traffic jam sequence, when we meet Mia Dolan (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) in their respective cars. A boy (Sebastian) with music in his veins. Whose dream was to become a great musician and bring the dying jazz music back to everyone. He was willing to sacrifice everything to fulfil that dream. But on the other hand, is a girl (Mia Dolan) who works in a coffee shop for now but her big dreams. Mia is an aspiring actress. She will gain much fame.
She had already participated in dozens of auditions, but luck was not on her side. The sequences where the movies show her fantasy world with her surroundings blacked out really do a great job of connecting the audience to her mind or psychology or whatever you call it.
On the other hand, Sebastian wants to open his own jazz club called "Chicken on the Stick"; although the suggestion of another name ", SEB°S" comes up as the movie progresses, he immediately says no. Hence, his obsession is so clearly explained. But dreams and reality do not go hand in hand. As a result, jazz is losing its popularity, a bitter truth.
The meeting of these two characters is dramatic, but the most metaphorical is their "a beautiful night" scene sequence. Their chemistry, emotions and other things and harsh realities are depicted very nicely there.
The music of this movie soothes your ears, while the cinematography and acting soothe your eyes.
Casts
La La Land is a 2016-Hollywood musical movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, Directed by Damien Chazelle. The film lives up to its title, showing a dreamlike state of mind with great technology.
Well, the definition of "La La Land" refers to a euphoric, dreamlike state of mind detached from the harsh realities of life. And guess what? This movie explains a lot about that state. La La Land also refers to LA (Los Angeles) because people like dreams go to fulfil their dreams. The plot of this movie also continues in LA.
The musical genre of cinema is by far the oldest genre. People remember "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Sound of Music" when they hear the musical, as those are 1900's trademarks for the music.
Thoughts and opinions
This, to me, is a charming film that will leave you laughing till the end. La La Land is an incredibly scripted and beautifully shot film. sometimes feel like I'm lost in a misty fantasy world where dreams can come true, and I can help make them happen.
Gosling and Stone were at their best in their original roles. They missed out on one aspect entirely, though. And that is the dance number. It's not clear to me that neither is the trained dancer; it's clear that the numbers were somewhat static and flat due to pre-training.
It's always incredible how the portrayal of a scene changes when an actor doesn't have to hide their face while they perform a complex skill.
Please watch it whenever you're looking for a dreamy musical romance. You won't be disappointed.
Here are some of my favourite quotes from the movie:
“And here’s to the fools who dream. Crazy as they may seem. Here’s to the hearts that break. Here’s to the mess we make.” – Mia
“Look in somebody’s eyes to light up the skies.” – Mia and Sebastian
“You said yourself, no one wants to go to that club. No one wants to go to a club called ‘Chicken on a Stick.'” – Sebastian
There are many more that hit my heart. This movie gave me good time. I hope you enjoy my post and thanks for reading. Don't forget to share your thoughts on my comments section.
For all those fans of musical love films, you can't go any farther than La La Land. This is a 2016 musical directed by Damien Charzelle. It is actually the seventh film he has directed and I have to say it is a real classic.
Plot
When Sebastian, played by Ryan Gosling, a pianist, and Mia, played by Emma Stone, an actress, pursue their dreams and excel in their respective fields, they are forced to choose between their love for one another and their jobs.
For me I think the aim of a musical is to let the songs and dancing tell the story. The arrangement of songs in the film was spot on and second to none. Maybe second to Sing 2, but that's just my personal opinion.
The cast played their roles perfectly. The chemistry between Sebastian and Mia was spot on and the discord after really showed what an arguing couple looks like. To be honest, I was simply impressed.
The film was really successful and brought in a total of 446.1 million dollars over a budget of 30 million dollars. It also won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, the Academy Award for Best Direction, and the Academy Award for Best Music.
To be honest, if it didn't win the award for best music, I would have thrown a fit about which other film in that year would have won it, with songs like City of Stars, Fools Who Dream, and Start a Fire, which was sung by none other than John Legend. I think it was the best film musically of 2017.
The moral of this film is to follow your dreams, no matter how hard they may seem. So if you're a musical romance movie fan, here is La La Land.
It was two hours filled with overwhelming emotions and a deep afterglow.
Damien Chazelle. The new director, who has just turned 30, is writing a new history of music films with his natural talent. After his debut film Whiplash , which received critical acclaim, his second work, La La Land, once again proved his unrivaled position. In fact, before seeing the movie, the only reason 'Ryan Gosling' appeared was for the purpose of viewing. After the drive , I wanted to see more of his explosive and calming acting, so I read almost all of his filmography. Regardless of the genre, it was enough to expect a role in La La Land just by looking at her progress so far, acting as a similar yet different character every time. And, expectations were paid back with satisfaction of 200% and 300%.
As those who have already seen the film will know, La La Land is a very realistic and at the same time romantic love, dream, and music in a truly perfect harmony. In terms of genre, it may have been difficult to maintain the balance a bit because romance, musical, and drama elements are mixed together, but it was produced as a masterpiece again. Actually, this part was a work that I did not need to think about. Some musical movie lovers expressed that this movie poorly imitated the characteristics of a classic musical movie, but I agree with this part. Compared to masterpieces such as Chicago or Moulin Rouge, the development and visual splendor of a musical film may be less. However, I don't think it's necessary to limit La La Land to a musical movie. This is because the lives of the two main characters in the film and the jazz music that flows are exactly in sync with one another. Jazz music accompanies me when I am happy or when I am sad. It amplifies the feeling of happiness and, on the other hand, caresses the sadness and wounds. Jazz is 'current music' with infinite variations, and although our lives are also full of uncertainty, nevertheless, 'continue to move forward' is a present-day continuous. Life and jazz, two intangible beings with the same attributes, meet under the fateful love of two men and women in the film, presenting unpredictable joys and sorrows.
The background and directing method of the film are also very interesting.Although the main stage is a modern city, scenes that seem to pay homage to an old film, and rebellion without reason , starring James Dean, who is currently playing at the Rialto Theater in the play, sources that seem to reflect on the golden age of art and romance are appropriately placed. It makes you struggle with the sensibility of perfume that comes from the depths. On the other hand, the scene where Emma Stone goes to a party with her friends and sings a monologue song, and the scene where she tap dances under the evening sunset with Ryan Gosling, the overall color is very sophisticated and gorgeous. It was the part where the director's excellent directing ability, who placed retro and modernity in the right place, stood out. If you like period dramas, I think you will enjoy it sufficiently.
The love story in the movie was good, but the scenes that reveal the sincerity of young people's dreams and the importance of them touched me even more. An aspiring actor who dreams of becoming a great actor while working part-time at a cafe, but fails every audition. He wants to open his own club, but the reality is that he is a jazz pianist who gets fired while playing carols at a restaurant. Although they are not common professionally, their story will become 'our story' at some point. Hopes such as 'what kind of person I will become' or 'I will make it happen' sometimes inflict wounds and pain on young people. However, it is undoubtedly the most splendid period in life to never give up and move forward believing in one's own beliefs and subjectivity. It is a time when you gain strength and maturity that does not lose your true self while being caught up in a vortex of emotions such as challenge, success, failure, frustration, passion, hope, innocence, romance, love, parting, pain, and loneliness. There seems to be a good reason that 'youth' is what most socially or economically successful middle-aged people want to regain the most. It is a time when the 'humanity' is directly embodied, when each day is anxious but also exciting, frustrated but also hopeful.
I am also not that different from the main characters. The goals I thought or planned are being achieved one by one, but it is still far from reaching the ultimate ideal and dream. But, I'm not afraid. My life up to now has always been a moment of uncertainty and choice. From a young age, I wanted to become a writer or a film director, but the engineering school I chose did not fit my inclinations as it was difficult to get proper support, and I spent time wandering instead of wandering while experiencing various activities outside of school. The gap between 'what I want to do' and 'what I have to do' came like a heavy burden, and unresolved worries and worries began to turn into frustration and sighing. I didn't give up though. It's really lonely to navigate a path that most people don't go without any help. Even if I talked to someone around me, that person did not (until now) sympathize with my thoughts and ideals . So, it seems that an obsessive feeling that I have to get stronger on my own has taken hold. Fortunately, it is now more flexible. The efforts I have made so far related to writing, exercise, and entrepreneurship are returning positive feedback one by one. I think that the struggles of the main characters in the play can be seen only as a romantic romance to some. However, for me at least, their efforts, worries, sorrows, and achievements are not only used in the film, but as a clear 'reality'.
The 10 minute ending played a role in making the lack of directing felt a little in the first half disappear at a glance. In addition, it gave a long, long aftertaste that did not go away even after 3 days had passed. The scene where the main characters, who met after 5 years, looked at each other eagerly, could be understood by anyone who had ever been in love at least once. Ryan Gosling's brilliant eyes and subtle smile seemed to say, "I still love you, but it can't happen anymore. We were really happy back then, weren't we?" We were unconsciously 'Sebastian' and 'Mia' for about 1 hour and 50 minutes. It is impossible to stop the deep afterglow that comes when you can 100% empathize with any emotion. Because it wasn't a predictable happy ending, it's even more bittersweet and realistic. However,
There is no more beautiful parting than letting go of someone who was with you in the brightest time of your life after time passes .
2016 romantic musical written and directed by Amien Chazelle.
Despite her talent, Mia Dolan always fails in the competitive world of Los Angeles auditions, but she never loses her dream of being an actress. Sebastian Wilder, a brilliant pianist, has problems paying the rent while dreaming of opening his own jazz club. Although no one else believes in them, they don’t lose hope and think that their success is only a matter of time, so when Mia and Sebastian finally talk, they find something that unites them: the desire to realize their dreams.
Before talking about what I think of the film, I must say that I am not a fan of musicals, because although I like how the choreography, dances and music can combine wonderfully, the idea of characters directly expressing their emotions through dancing and singing does not seem so attractive to me. This, of course, is just a personal bias and not something inherently negative. Having said that, the film is excellent.
La La Land not only has the classic scenes of musicals where reality is suspended, but it has musical moments that include diegetic music, which express the feelings and emotions of its characters, becoming genuine dramatic moments. Something that Amien Chazelle had previously done in the wonderful Whiplash, but with other connotations. In fact, these two films have some similarities.
The film has beautiful cinematography by Linus Sandgren, the costumes are fantastic, the images are intensely accompanied by the music of Justin Hurwitz, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have good chemistry and perform very well individually, the musical moments and choreography are also very well executed, and the complementary participation of John Legend is so cool.
The film was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards of which it won six; Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Production Design.
La La Land is about a couple with ambitious dreams, the romance of its characters is not the result of an impetuous need to stay irrationally together, but of the mutual support to realize their individual dreams, and the effect that the pursuit of dreams has on their relationship.
The story just keeps getting better and better as its intense finale approaches, making the two hours and eight minutes a great show.
If you saw the movie, let me know your opinion and if you haven’t seen it yet, let me know if you are interested in seeing it or if you prefer to see something different.
A romantic drama directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
What is my favorite musical movie?
Without a doubt, "La La Land" will be for all eternity my favorite, I argued forever.
Beyond the plot and the outcome, this film is a spell for sensitive souls, those who have the power to feel the beauty and melancholy of life with their emotions.
Each and every one of the people in this world at some point have longed for something, they want so much that when the road is difficult and they begin to think that their desire seems impossible, then they begin, perhaps for fear or despair, to make decisions They directly affect things of greater importance in their lives, resulting many times in inevitably unexpected facts.
In "La La Land" happens exactly the same, they tell us such a "real-life" story and without a happy ending that seems illogical that the film is a musical. Although while you are seeing it, you can hardly realize this.
But then, what makes the film so wonderful and acclaimed by the public?
The emotions that can be captured through their romantic scenes, the music that invades you to the spinal cord with its elegance and delicacy, the vibrant colors that never disappear, captivating the viewer instantly without any precedent.
It is a typical history outlined in the scenarios of a magic story, as if it were an unreal story.
I've already seen it many times and I never get tired of it. Already to end and as a curious information, I recently realized that in almost all its scenes the red, yellow, green and blue color are present, in addition to the costumes mostly are unicolor also highlighting the aforementioned colors. Also Other highlights specially for me is the gorgeous Emma Stone 😍, a total delight to watch throughout in this movie. 😉👍

Wait a minute! A musical? Well, for many years I stayed away from this genre, a victim of the tendency to think that they are cheesy, boring, monotonous, etc. But in more recent times I started to give it a chance in my list of movies to watch. I have seen that it is enriching to enjoy the good references of this genre. The versatility of the actors is evident, plus it gives you criteria within the wide range of options in the cinema, now from home. That's why I want to talk to you today about La La Land.
Commenting on this film I realized how divided people are about it. Some liked it a lot, others liked it a little. Some found it to have a positive message, others found it a sad musical. If you haven't seen it, it deserves your attention. And I'm sorry to tell you that this post contains spoilers. If you have seen it, you may be on one of the pro or con teams. Here I tell you what my opinion is, and also my three favorite lines from the movie.
Si no la has visto, merece tu atención.
During the winter season, the struggles of each main character are shown, in order to get to know them and somehow achieve empathy. Life sometimes becomes cold, difficult and insensitive for some. And at this stage we get to know them both.
Him. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a pianist who seeks to promote jazz in its most traditional form. He knows the challenge of pursuing a career as a musician and becoming famous. He has his opinion on what brings and steals the city of Los Angeles. He seems to have his goal clear in his mind, knows what he wants, and in the meantime, is willing to take menial jobs while he waits to materialize his goal.
Her. Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring celebrity actress who eagerly takes every audition she can get her hands on for an important role that will lead her to fame. She strives, hopes, dreams? And she also has her opinion of what the city of Los Angeles can help her, and in turn, what she herself can do for her city. At the same time, she works in a coffee shop, where every visit from celebrities presses the "PLAY" key of her dreams.
That first winter, along with the spring and summer that follow, make up the first part of the film. Spring shows how love blossoms between them. And during the summer, the temperature of their love rises to the maximum, making them (and the viewer too) believe that it is possible to have both: a successful career in the artistic world and a true and lasting love. The parallel stories are barely noticeable, and very straightforward, so we can more easily focus on what happens to both of them. That exclusive focus doesn't bother. Then comes the scene that splits the film in two.
Already in the fall, in the middle of the tour of the band Sebastian belongs to, he returns home and prepares a surprise dinner for Mia. She does not hesitate to show him that she feels lonely and at the same time worried about him, who seems to see him imprisoned by a contract that forces him to play music he does not really like. But Sebastian's success is enough for him to put his career above Mia's, who in two weeks will have her play that she has been working on for months. The selfishness in his words are so notorious that he can almost be seen personified sitting in a chair next to her, and she senses it, although she tried for a few seconds to erase it, but she could not. It is when their love begins to darken, just as the leaves on the trees dry up, change to earth colors and blend with her as they fall to the ground. Realism has punched them right in the pit of the stomach. Can you succeed in life as a couple while pursuing your individual dreams? Winter arrives again, and brings with it the climax of the film, but we'll get to that later.
Ése foco exclusivo no molesta.
Here is one of the aspects I liked: the realism present. Show business is not usually a bed of roses, and some features often leave you with serious frustrations and disappointments. You have to be serious about finishing what you start in order to pick yourself up and move on, fighting and hoping for another chance. Also, it doesn't take much success for someone to change and become selfishly inclined (mind you, it doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen more often than we would like). During the summer you were both enthusiastically supportive of each other, but it stopped being that way, sadly. And how much of yourself should you invest to achieve your personal goal, while at the same time selflessly supporting each other's goal, and simultaneously making your relationship stronger? Really? If you didn't sit down and weigh all of this?
Now, I notice that some people put their lowest marks for the film on, for example, Gosling's faint-heartedness and lack of spark in his role, leading some to opine that there is a lack of chemistry between the lead couple. Still, I think he could be part of that role, because maybe that's how a man who has tasted the sweet, the tasteless, the bitter and the bitterest of the musical career could be seen. His dreams and illusions, which Mia once had, are tempered with truth and objectivity, making expectations not so high. Pusillanimous? I would say realistic.
Well, no one is arguing that the film is well made. The symmetry in various shots really are a delight. They leave you with so much to see. Like when they come out of the cafeteria, walk and are stopped because they will be filming a movie scene nearby. Or those where they show the facade of the theater rented for Mia's play. Although there is no song that stands out from the rest in such an evident way, all of them are of a very good quality, both in composition and lyrics, capable of enriching the story and telling you the feelings involved in that part of the story. Particularly, from the first time I saw the movie, the chords of "Mia & Sebastian's Theme" were like arrows piercing my body. The piano notes in "City of stars" feed the sadness and frustration vibe, while feeding the dreams and positivity.
The detail of Sebastian's hands playing the piano really struck me as a separate story, as I dedicate a separate paragraph to it here. The first time "Mia & Sebastian's Theme" plays, he plays the piano with both hands, though he gives it an abrupt ending. Midway through the film, when Mia goes to see him play live for the first time with her friend's band, she doesn't like the way they sound, knowing that it doesn't sound like what Sebastian really wanted to play. You can see on her face that she doesn't agree with the band's sound and genre. And that's when he plays the electronic piano with only his right hand. Meanwhile, the left hand was kept apathetically inside his trouser pocket, only willing to play the traditional piano, as indeed he did skillfully in the parts assigned for it. In my opinion, the left hand represents her, and the fact that she does not use it to generate the electronic sound in the concert represents Mia's obvious disagreement with it. And at the end, when he is left without her, who inadvertently visits him accompanied by her current husband, he starts playing "Mia & Sebastian's Theme" again with only his right hand, perhaps reflecting a lonely start in his life and career. It seems that the song is not sure to be presented for that moment. Then he adds the left hand and they both begin to tell us a story using the chords we have been hearing throughout the film, harmonically, intensely, joyfully, fully and ideally. But in the end, he ends up playing it the same way he started it: only with the right hand. It slows down and sounds even sadder. He is left without her. He chose his professional career and a life without his true love. His life would continue to "sound" like this, only with what he is able to generate with one hand. Masterful.
Magistral.
And we come to the opinion that I consider most important: Is it a happy or a sad musical? How do you feel at the end of the movie? The team of the happy ones put the capital letters in the first part, in those scenes with a very luminous color palette, with pure colors in the costumes that bombard the screen with euphoria, optimism, love, illusion? The music enhances the happiness that interprets the view. Those scenes between both protagonists that seem extracted from a fairy tale, with enough duration to really make you believe that, enjoy it, imagine that you are the one in those crisp clothes doing those dance steps so aesthetically. Reason why you smile, sheltered by the darkness of the room, which gives you the assurance that no one is watching you. You can see how, individually, Sebastian and Mia gain ground in trying to achieve their goal, sending you a clear message that you can achieve your dreams with tenacity, dedication and perseverance. But it's not all like that. The sad team suggests that the film shows that romantic love is not above all else. The sad nuances are also seen as supporting actors in the first part, but protagonists in the second. I loved how the light was used for this in some scenes, turning them off all over the set and a single spotlight is who survived to indicate where to look, what to feel.... Classic. The chords of the songs make the sadness bigger in your chest, at least in mine. So, is it a happy or a sad musical? Before we answer, let's talk about the ending.
Set in the second winter season, it shows an open ending. For those of you wondering "What would have happened if...?" Well, they leave nothing to your imagination: they show you what happened and what you might wish had happened; the real versus the ideal; the good versus the better.... They seem to be giving you the opportunity to choose the ending you like the most.
So, is it a happy or sad musical? I think it depends on what your emotional state is at the time you see it. If you're on a good run in life and everything seems to be going well for you, your heart will surely race with joy at the overflowing desire to achieve the dreams of the people you see on screen, you'll smile at the good things happening to them, you'll be quickly won over by the words of encouragement from Mia's friends and you'll share the feeling of accomplishment as they both progress in their careers. But if you think you're not doing so well in life, you'll be sensitive to what happens to the protagonists individually, to the discouragements they have, you'll feel in your heart the effort they make to combat discouragement and negativism, and you'll share the realistic approach they often show. If you're courting someone else, it won't be hard to imagine yourself substituting their faces for yours and your partner's in the happier, more romantic scenes. But if you're not at a good point in the relationship, you'll quickly know what went wrong between them. But, if you're open-minded, willing to have an entertaining time, you're sure to enjoy it objectively, and you'll get a little bit of everything.
As I said in a previous post, in films we hear sentences that are well thought out, that make you think, that you remember as time goes by, either because they are authentic, truthful, profound, original, controversial, vile lies or because they are key to understand the film. So I present again the three sentences that I liked the most of this production.
"I want to be on the ropes. I just let life beat me until it gets tired" (Sebastian)
"How are you going to be revolutionary, if you're such a traditionalist?" (Keith)
"Do you like the music you play?" (Mia)
(Keith)
"¿Te gusta la música que tocas?" (Mia)
Bright and dark. Joyful and sad. Optimistic and realistic. Romantic and disillusioning. Very well done. Simple, harmonic, clear and aesthetic story. Good music. Simple and interesting lyrics. Artistic details delicately placed in key places. Two hours of good material. I recommend it.
Luminosa y oscura. Alegre y triste. Optimista y realista. Romántica y desilusionante. Muy bien hecha. Historia sencilla, armónica, nítida y estética. Buena música. Letras sencillas e interesantes.
It had been a long time since I had followed my usual content on movie reviews, which at first was my main niche next to video games, but seeing that in December I made some which did not reach many people, I decided to give myself a break, but the wait is over and just now I saw this movie that since it came out caused me a lot of intrigue, but I've never had the opportunity to see, so let's start with this great review
La la Land is a film of the musical genre particularly based on the golden age of the same, written and directed by Damien Chazelle fantastic director passionate about music, and also creator of what is for me is his greatest success Whiplash. For this film I would count on the stellar performances of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, which would tell us the story of Mia a waitress who works in a venue near one of the Warner Bros. facilities; and De Sebastian a very talented pianist who is a diehard jazz fan. Both have dreams and ambitions, Mia wants to be an established Hollywood actress and Sebastian wants to form his own jazz club and make it the best in Los Angeles. But for both of them life will take a 180-degree turn when they meet and their great romance begins.
[Emma Stone "Mia" And Ryan Gosling "Sebastian"](https://www.espinof.com/criticas/la-ciudad-de-las-estrellas-la-la-land-fantastica-y-emocionante)
Before starting I would like to emphasize that the musical genre is not at all my favorite, but La La Land awoke in me that certain curiosity since at the time it was very much commented, besides that in the Oscar where I participate it obtained 11 nominations of which I win 6 of them, and that without a doubt one of the most curious situations of the history of the awarding happened, when at the end of the ceremony they had won the best movie of the year by a mistake that in the end was taken by Moonligth. So my question was what is so special about this film, I will try to explain it based on my opinion and having said this warning let's start.
[Los Angeles una ciudad llena de magia y grandes historias - Los Angeles is a city full of magic and great stories. ](http://getamericas.com/la-la-land-experience/)
[La Epoca dorada del cine musical - The golden age of musical cinema](https://cinemusical.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/lista-de-peliculas-de-los-anos-50/)
This film is a love letter to all the cinema of yesteryear, to the most golden era of the genre and that without a doubt marked a great era in the history of cinema. La la Land recreates all this to perfection during the first hour of the film, where the dances, the music and where the genre stands out the most in history. I read as a curiosity that La La Land had a meaning behind it, some describe the phrase as a feeling of euphoria and joy, where the important thing is to ignore all the problems and be happy; Others talk about this expression referring to Los Angeles, the place where this movie was filmed, and that they talk about the city as a place where all the dreams you want to achieve are fulfilled and an idyllic place to live, all these feelings are transmitted during this great work.
[Here we see the clear homage - Aqui vemos el claro homenaje ](https://www.espinof.com/otros/la-la-land-descubre-todas-sus-referencias-y-homenajes-en-este-fantastico-video)
More than a movie, I consider La La Land as a tribute to cinema, since, in my opinion, more than giving a story to our characters where we saw the relationship formed from scratch with its nuances and better developed perhaps to my taste it would have been better, but the intention of the director was to capture this connection that Mia and Sebastian felt through dance and choreography very much like it was done in classic cinema, but that to my taste was never achieved, and I consider this the worst factor of the movie.
But that without a doubt in the technical section is a masterpiece, the theme of the colors, the costume design, the production, the cinematography, as for example, each scene between Mia and Sebastian automatically took us back to the 50s, thanks to the way they both dressed, the stage that surrounded them, the soundtrack, in short it was a very gratifying experience to watch, One of my favorite scenes and that I would like to highlight is the small musical Dancing in the Stars ,the level of production was too good and I recognize that even though the musicals are not to my liking, I feel that it fit very well in the film, where the music and dance spoke for themselves and allowed the viewer to observe how magical the city is and how nice it is to be taken to the stars.
8.5🎶
With this I end this opinion, I hope you liked it and vote positively, that no doubt we will return with more than the usual content, besides the gameplay that I am having a great time, I recommend this film to every lover of classic cinema, finally, my final rating for La La Land is ....
›LaLaLa Land: one of the best movie of f last decade (ENG - ITA)@serialfiller2276d
A few days ago, in evening zapping I happened to find one of my favorite films of the last 10 years. In watching one of my favorite scenes, that of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling improvising on the "City of Stars" piano, I realized that I had never talked about La La Land.
Damien Chazelle's film is one of the best films of recent years. Oscar-nominated film and proclaimed, wrongly winner by Warren Beatty, only to abdicate for the more modest "Moonlight". Even without the most coveted statuette, it remains a masterpiece. Even if you are not fond of musicals, it is a film that I highly recommend to recover. Behind the simple songs that cover the entire duration of the film, behind 2 perfect protagonists there is much, much more.
First of all, there is a perfect direction, that of the young Chazelle who, on the second big-screen adventure, confirms to be director of Walk of fame. His love for the seventh art is palatable and La La Land is above all a tribute to cinema as a collector of dreams and energy. Technical perfection lies behind every shot, the symmetry of photography, its clean and refined machine movements are a feast for the eyes. The sequence plan with which the film opens is already the history of cinema. 4 bombastic, very fast minutes and an incredible difficulty will give you the perception of how much this filmmaker knows how to do behind the camera. It is said that it took 3 months to shoot the sequence plan of which I speak.
Gosling and Stone's alchemy is something rarely seen on screens. The couple manages to be tender but firm, dreamer but concrete, in love but selfish in the best sense of the word. On their determination, Chazelle aims a lot and the couple of actors returns a double Oscar performance, which Emma Stone will also be able to bring home in reality. The ending remains one of the most beautiful, unsettling and strong endings in the recent history of cinema. We were used to happy ending musicals or even too big ones. Here instead we have a bittersweet and very brave ending. Love is everything, it is what we all desperately seek. But love can also be towards oneself, towards one's profession, towards one's dreams. Everyone, in their own small way, will have had to sacrifice something for someone. No sensational gestures are needed, stifling choices to tangibly deprive yourself of something. Sometimes it is the healthy couple routine, the genuine desire to be together that makes us more flat, less brave, less decisive towards our dreams. So why, in the name of love, do not let go? Do not forget the other to focus on yourself? What's wrong with that? We live and come from a cynical and ruthless society that has nevertheless always tolerated those who have decided to let go of real affections in the name of their dreams. But isn't that love really after all?
This is the movie I've seen more times in the last years. Surely most people have already seen it. If you have seen it and loved it, you probably coincide with the opinion expressed in this post. If you saw it but did not like it, maybe this post will make you reconsider some aspects. And if you have not seen it (where have you been hiding ?!) I hope this article pushes you to see this great film.
Yes, it's a musical.
I have heard many people say "I don't like musicals, with all that singing". For those who think like that, I say: What a pity! Cinema is art, acting is art, dance is art and music, of course, is also art.
From that combination (when it is done in good shape) it results an artistic product of great value for those of us who love the different artistic manifestations. However, those who don't like so much "singing", I will tell you that _**La La Land**_ is not _**Les Miserables**_ (another great movie) where all the dialogue, **everything**, it's sung. All movies have a soundtrack, so any movie you watch, especially comedies and romances, uses background songs in at least six or seven sequences. Pay attention and you will find out. And that happens in _**La La Land**_. The film uses songs within its plot, but it has long sequences of normal dialogues, with the particularity of the musicals in which the songs and dances are played and performed here, masterfully, by the same actors; And does not that prove a major acting challenge for those who in addition to learning the script must learn dance steps and lyrics? The fact that a movie is a musical, then, is a _plus_ and not a _but_.
# The visual
The details of scenography, costumes and photography are taken care of perfectly in this film. The initial sequence shows a traffic jam in a wide avenue and there everything is perfectly chosen: the color of each vehicle, the different models, the colors of the clothes of each character and even their ethnic features; everything aims to show the human diversity that seeks a dream and that comes to LA to pursue it. They are a few dozen cars, but they represent the dreamers of the whole planet. Likewise, throughout the film, no visual detail is random, everything is perfectly taken care of, each costume of each character in each scene, each color of each place, each ray of sun, moonlight, artificial lights, even those objects that seem to be watered in any way, everything, absolutely every single visual element present in the film has been conscientiously chosen.
Then there's the script, the story. Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) are two quite different people who possess a common trait: both have a dream. Mia wants to be a great actress and Sebastian is a musician who wants to open a Jazz Club. They are dreamers in the city of stars. It's not a lightning, but they fall in love and project a life in which they will achieve their respective dreams and stay together. However, not everything goes well. When Sebastian decides to join a band that plays a kind of modern Jazz, Mia rebukes him for having given up his dream. He says that this is called "maturing", that he did it because she wanted him to have a stable job. He doesn't seek to blame her, what happens is that he doesn't say what he really wants to say: I did it for you.
Sebastian took that job in order to improve his quality of life, his and Mia's; and although many debate it, putting it to her, her well-being, above himself. However, Mia doesn't want him to give up what he loves, wants him to take his money and open his club. She wants him to achieve his dream **because she loves him**. It's her who doesn't accept his resignation. Then, when Mia gives up her desire to be an actress because it hurts her to be rejected again and again, it's Sebastian who doesn't allow it. He goes to find her, reprimands her and takes her to the next audition. And he does it **because he loves her**, because he believes in her and he's convinced that she will achieve it. And it is very romantic that two people can love each other to the point that, although they stop believing in themselves, they never stop believing in each other.
# The ending
After Mia's audition, the film jumps five years forward. She has become a renowned actress and has a family ... but not with Sebastian. Why? Because they were away she filming in Paris and he in LA opening his club? Why did not he go to Paris with her at least for a while? Why did not he wait for her? Did they try, at least, to be together for a while? none of this we can know. What we know is what matters most: they are not together. Perhaps during those years they devoted all their energies to pursue and reach their respective dreams and when they realized, it was too late. However, wasn't Mia who scolded Sebastian not to give up his dream and even designed the logo of the Jazz Club he opened? And it was not Sebastian who sought out Mia and convinced her to attend the audition that changed her life when she had given in? So, achieved their dreams is not somehow honor the love of the other? "I'm always gonna love you" they say to themselves. And they do that, even if they are not together at the end.
Sebastian loves Jazz and does not want to let it die. The society tries to relegate it as a musical genre of an era that has already passed and he says "not on my watch". Love that music and want to rescue it to preserve its greatness, in the middle of a city in which "they worship everything, and they value nothing". Mia dreams of being an actress thanks to her aunt who, in her childhood, made her discover the world of cinema. The final sequence of the movie shows the public what they both think about seeing themselves after five years, what could have been but was not; it is the nostalgia of that life that they could have had together, that dramatic "what would have happened if" that is simply a fantasy. In addition, the film itself is a tribute to classic Hollywood and past times, with black fades, signs in ancient fonts, obvious winks to Singin 'in the rain, a Funny Face, with mentions of Rebel without a cause, of Casablanca; The poster on Mia's bed is the great actress Ingrid Bergman. This film, not only honor the dreamers who come after your dream, it also pays tribute to that city of stars that makes them possible.
Do you like movies? Do you like music? Do you like jazz? Do you like romantic movies? Have you enjoyed the cinema classics of the 40s and 50s? Do you have a dream you want to achieve? If your answer is affirmative for at least one of those questions, this movie is for you. Only those who respond negatively to all the previous questions (can someone like that exist?) are exempt from seeing one of the best cinematographic pieces of recent years.
For the excellent work of Damien Chazelle, writer and director of the film, the perfectly cared visual details, a beautiful photograph, the memorable performances of the main couple, the exquisite choreographies of the dance scenes, the renewal of the best of the stories of classic Hollywood cinema, the tribute to art, dreams and dreamers, for me La La Land is a 10/10, I consider it a classic of the cinema and I think that it had to win in the main categories of the Academy Awards where, in my opinion, did not get the recognition that it deserved. You haven't seen it yet? run to see it! Have you seen it? Then tell me what do you expect to see it again?
¿Aún no la has visto? corre a verla.
›'La La Land' by Damien Chazelle Review@namiks3136d
I'm not particularly fond of either the romance or musical genres. I find often enough that the two genres are particularly boring, with almost try-hard levels of writing that the actors struggle to successfully pull off. That said, if a film gains as much traction as La La Land has, I'm certainly going to check it out.
In short, La La Land is your average narrative: two people fall in love due to their similar levels of passion and ambition for the arts. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) is an aspiring jazz pianist and Mia (Emma Stone) is an aspiring actress. As Sebastian's career within Los Angeles is welcomed with plenty success, Mia is stuck in the struggle of landing gigs as she watches Sebastian's rise unfold before her. Their relationship is then put to the test.
Typically, I'd say that such a narrative isn't anything special, and even though I do partially believe that, La La Land manages to justify such a weak narrative with its unique cinematography and rather stylish performances. With my bias on musicals, I for once enjoyed the greater picture, even when such moments of singing and rich playful emotion slightly distracted me from it.
Cinematography is the film's biggest strength by far, and I'm near certain everyone with an interest in the world of cinema has seen the various screenshots of the sun-kissed land of Los Angeles; a gentle colour palette of purple, blue, pink, and yellow. It works excellently as a visual perception of a land known for its opportunities for creatives for the characters, almost a utopia in which dreams become reality, although we know very much that it isn't the case, and the struggle is as large as any other. It's beautifully artistic and each frame can be considered a picture, which is often something that can't be said for most films these days.
There's something unique about La La Land, and I believe it's the dedication to be different; to go all-out and dream-like in almost an inspirational fashion. Damien Chazelle is a truly talented director when given the right budget and cast, although that was already evident with Whiplash and 10 Cloverfield Lane.
›10 Facts About La La Land That Will Knock Your Socks Off@moviemarauder3303d
Hey movie marauders! La La Land took the world by a storm. It got so many Oscar nominations and great reviews. This modern musical was a deep story that honestly made me cry at the end. Let's take a look at some fun facts you probably don't know about this romance, musical, and drama:
1. Ryan Gosling actually played the piano in the movie. He practiced 2 hours a day for 6 days a week. (John Legend was jealous how fast Ryan Gosling learned how to play the piano).
2. The scene where Mia's (played by Emma Stone) audition was interrupted by the casting director is based off of an experience Ryan Gosling had.
3. Emma Watson and Miles Teller were supposed to play Mia and Sebastian. Emma Watson turned down the role for Beauty and the Beast. Miles Teller's long contract negotiations made them switch to Ryan Gosling.
4. Emma Stone sang "Audition(The Fools Who Dream) live. She chose when to switch from dialogue to singing (there was no pre-recorded track). Composer Justin Hurwitz played the piano in her ear in another room.
5. John Legend (who plays Keith) improvised a lot of his lines (including his big monologue).
6. La La Land originally took place in Boston.
7. Director Damien Chazelle wrote the screenplay for La La Land in 2010, but could not find a studio to produce it.
8. Because of Director Damien Chazelle's success with his movie Whiplash, he was able to get Summit Entertainment to make La La Land.
9. Sebastian's car fob trick of putting it under your chin to amplify the signal actually works.
10. The scene where Mia and Sebastian sing "A Lovely Night" took 8 takes and 2 days to shoot. The entire movie took 8 weeks to shoot.
