I have always liked to see movies based on real events, it allows you to know in a certain way the story of a hero, of a character that made a difference with his actions, helping others, fighting for his dreams, taking a new path, and knowing how he achieved it, what were his beginnings, is something really memorable.
There are many stories to tell, something or someone who made a difference and marked the lives of others, this time I will talk about this movie, called Freedom Writers or better known as Street Diaries, released in 2007, its main character is Erin Gruwell.
Siempre me ha gustado ver películas basada en hechos reales, te permite conocer de cierta forma la historia de un héroe, de un personaje que marco la diferencia con sus acciones, ayudando a los demás, luchando por sus sueños, emprendiendo un nuevo camino, y el saber cómo lo logro, cuáles fueron sus inicios, es algo realmente memorable.
Existen muchas historias que contar, algo o alguien que hizo la diferencia y marco la vida de los demás, en esta oportunidad les hablare de esta película, denominada Freedom Writers o mejor conocida como Diarios de la Calle, estrenada en el año 2007, su personaje principal es Erin Gruwell.
Review.
Erin Gruwell is a young teacher who has just begun to teach her first language classes in a school in Long Beach (California), where the students who attend this institution come from the streets, living in slums, surrounded by violence, drugs, and abuse, made up of dangerous and rival gangs.
The story is based on the year 1994, where Erin goes to this school, wanting to help these young people, take them on the right path, making them feel better people, which is why despite all the difficulties and tensions that existed at that time about violence and racism, this teacher sought to connect with her students somehow.
She taught them stories that they did not know, such as the Holocaust, bought them books, made them read them and taught them something different day after day, which allowed them to unite as classmates, to live together as a group, leaving aside their differences.
Erin Gruwell es una joven profesora que recién comienza a dar sus primeras clases de lengua en una escuela de Long Beach (California), donde los alumnos que asisten a esta institución provienen de las calles, viven en barrios marginales, rodeado de violencia, drogas, y maltratos, conformado por bandas peligrosas y rivales.
La historia se basa en el año 1994, donde Erin acude a esta escuela, queriendo ayudar a estos jóvenes, llevarlos por el buen camino, haciéndolos sentir mejores personas, es por ello que a pesar de todas las dificultades y tensiones que existían en esa época sobre la violencia y el racismo, esta profesora buscaba conectar con sus estudiantes de alguna manera.
Les enseño historias que ellos desconocían, como el holocausto, les compra libros, hace que los lea y les va enseñando día tras día algo distinto, que los permita unirse como compañeros, poder convivir como un grupo, dejando a un lado sus diferencias.
Erin buys them some diaries, so that they could write down their experiences, their life, what they have suffered either by abuse or the loss of a friend, although at the beginning it was difficult to get these kids to learn to live together, and do what she asked them to do, over time Erin managed to gain their trust and respect.
One day she took them to a museum to learn a little more about this history, a great experience for them, she told them about other teenagers who were less fortunate and suffered great tragedies, as well as about Anne Frank. She got them to meet Miep Gies, who is the person who helped Anne Frank and her family, and she told them about her experience and everything she lived through at that time.
These kids had a difficult life, so much so that one of the students named Eva witnesses a shooting which makes her a witness, where this girl with fear, but with courage decides to confront both her father and the rest of the gangs and give her real testimony, it is really admirable because this courage that Eva takes, was from what she learned with the teacher Erin, that shows how much influence this teacher had on the lives of these students.
Erin les compra unos diarios, para que allí fueran anotando sus experiencias, su vida, lo que han sufrido ya sea por abuso o la perdida de algún amigo, aunque el principio fue difícil lograr que estos chicos aprendieran a convivir juntos, y hacer lo que ella les pedía, con el tiempo Erin logro ganarse su confianza y su respeto.
Un día los llevo a un museo, para que conociera un poco más de esta historia, una gran experiencia para ellos, les habla de otros adolescentes que fueron menos afortunados, y sufrieron grandes tragedias, así como de Ana Frank,la misma logra que conozcan a Miep Gies, la cual es la persona que ayudo a Ana Frank y a su familia, para que ella les cuente su experiencia y todo lo que vivió en esa época.
Estos chicos tuvieron una vida difícil, tanto que una de las estudiantes llamada Eva es testigo de un tiroteo la cual la hace testigo, donde esta chica con miedo, pero armándose de valor decide enfrentarse tanto a su padre como al resto de las bandas y dar su testimonio real, realmente es admirable porque este valor que Eva toma, fue de lo aprendido con la maestra Erin, eso demuestra lo mucho que influyo esta profesora en la vida de estos estudiantes.
As I mentioned, this is a story based on true events, full of drama, crime, with great learning, these kids want to continue attending classes with Erin, which is why she fights for it, and to continue being their teacher in the coming years.
To finish, the diaries that each one wrote, Erin decides to print them and put together a book which she called "The Freedom Writers Diary", thus creating her great book, this story ends telling us that these young people went ahead, with the guidance and support of their great teacher, who managed to enter the University.
Como bien lo mencione, esta es una historia basada en hechos reales, llena de drama, crimen, con un gran aprendizaje, estos chicos quieren seguir asistiendo a las clases con Erin, es por ello que ella lucha para que así sea, y poder seguir siendo su profesora en los próximos años.
Para finalizar, los diarios que cada uno escribió, Erin decide imprimirlos y armar un libro el cual denomino “The Freedom Writers Diary", así crean su gran libro, esta historia termina contándonos, que estos jóvenes siguieron adelante, con la guía y apoyo de su gran profesora, que lograron entrar a la Universidad.
Listening to the story of each of these students, of everything they lived and suffered, is admirable, it makes you sad, but at the same time you understand that sometimes we end up living situations that were not in our plans, but that makes us stronger, learn more every day and overcome them in some way or another.
These kids counted on the support, guidance, strength and learning from this great teacher, who for them became like part of their family.
And although the other teachers did not agree with her teaching methods, because they did not believe in these kids, and that they had a future, even so, Erin managed to show them that they only needed someone to believe in them, to motivate them and teach them that beyond those walls there is a future ahead for them.
Escuchar la historia de cada uno de estos estudiantes, de todo lo que vivieron y sufrieron, es admirable, da tristeza, pero a la vez entiendes que a veces terminamos viviendo situaciones que no estaban en nuestros planes, pero que nos hace ser más fuertes, aprender cada día mas y lograr superarlos de alguna u otra forma.
Esto chicos contaron con el apoyo, guía, fortaleza y el aprendizaje de esta gran profesora, que para ellos se convirtió como parte de su familia.
Y aunque los otros profesores no estaban de acuerdo con sus métodos de enseñanza, porque no creían en estos chicos, y que tuvieran un futuro, aún así, Erin logro demostrarles que ellos solo necesitaban que alguien creyera en ellos, que los motivara y les enseñara que más de allá de esas paredes hay un futuro adelante para ellos.
This film starred Hilary Swank playing the role of Erin Gruwell, a great actress the truth, received great criticism, but was certainly accepted by many, this film shows us different scenarios, related to violence, racism, different cultures and ideologies, which made these guys had these clashes.
At the beginning it was hard for her to get these young people to understand each other, I like how the film shows us the changes she is achieving in each one, in their attitude and their way of thinking, thus allowing her to be heard by them, to see that her goal was to teach them and make them better people.
Esta película fue protagonizada por Hilary Swank interpretando el papel de Erin Gruwell, una gran actriz la verdad, recibió grandes críticas, pero que sin duda fue aceptada por muchos, esta película nos muestra distintos escenarios, relacionados con la violencia, el racismo, las diferente culturas e ideologías, lo que hacía que estos chicos tuvieran estos enfrentamientos.
Al principio fue duro para ella, lograr que estos jóvenes lograran entenderse, me gusta como la película nos va mostrando los cambios que va logrando en cada uno, en su actitud y su manera de pensar, permitiendo de esta manera que sea escuchada por ellos, que vieran que su objetivo era enseñarles y hacerlos mejores personas.
Her interest and passion for her work, wanting to help these kids, made her lose her marriage, because her husband did not know how to understand and support her, so he decided to leave her, I really did not like this part, she was not doing anything wrong, maybe she did not know how to balance both things, her personal life with her work, and that resulted in this separation, also in my opinion, her husband was a little hard on her, he should have supported her more.
But well every head is a world, this did not stop her and she went ahead, she achieved her goal which was to help these kids, it is a nice story, it is worth watching.
Su interés y la pasión por su trabajo, el querer ayudar a estos chicos, hizo que perdiera su matrimonio, ya que su esposo no supo comprenderla y apoyarla, por lo que decidió dejarla, la verdad esta parte no me gusto, ella no estaba haciendo nada malo, quizás no supo equilibrar ambas cosas, su vida personal con su trabajo, y eso trajo como consecuencia esta separación, de igual forma en mi opinión, su esposo fue un poco duro con ella, debió apoyarla más.
Pero bueno cada cabeza es un mundo, esto no la detuvo y ella siguió adelante, logro su objetivo el cual era ayudar a estos chicos, es una bonita historia, vale la pena verla.
