Fantasy anime transports us to imaginary worlds full of different things and creatures: magic, knights, demons, giants, orcs, trolls, goblins... These are places where we can see castles, kings, princesses, and much more.

The last anime I watched was a fantasy anime set in a place where there is a guild where adventurers gather. They respond to different requests to destroy or hunt monsters that roam the land or to respond to other types of missions that are offered.

Thus, a young priestess who has just reached the lowest level, porcelain, joins others of her level to go goblin hunting, but everything gets out of control and when her team is in danger, an adventurer arrives who quickly kills the goblins and manages to save her life. Thus begins Goblin Slayer.

As its name suggests, the anime, based on a series of Japanese light novels, focuses on the life of a young adventurer, a silver-ranked character whose face is never seen and whose real name is unknown, who only wants to take on requests or contracts related to hunting or killing goblins.

I must say that the first episode is very raw, as we see quite graphic scenes that show us the nature of goblins and also make us see this adventurer as a bit ruthless, but as the anime progresses, we understand the reasons why he hates goblins so much.

Now, the goblins, although not very smart, are all male, and their danger lies in their numbers. In addition, they are known for raiding villages, killing all their inhabitants, kidnapping women, raping them to reproduce, and then devouring them.

Our protagonist, known as Goblin Slayer, lost the only family member he had left at the age of 10 in an attack by goblins. From the place where his sister hid him, he witnessed how the goblins raped and murdered her, which is why he is obsessed with killing them all.

This character, who usually works alone, begins to team up with the priestess after rescuing her, and as the anime progresses, he ends up forming a group with the priestess, a tall elf who is an archer, a dwarf who is a sorcerer, and a lizard priest.

One of the strengths of this anime is its music. Both the opening and ending themes are good and feature appealing animations. In addition, the music used in the episodes for different moments—calm, battles, or fun—is well chosen.

As for the animation, there are two points worth mentioning. In the first season, it is clearly high quality, but in the second season, the quality drops.

Another strong point is the protagonist's high level of specialization. When it comes to his enemies, he is an unrivaled expert in hunting goblins, possessing extensive knowledge of their behavior, tactics, and weaknesses, which allows him to create successful strategies to attack them. He knows which weapons are most useful against them and the types of goblins they may face, among other things.

Although the anime only has two seasons, we see the characters develop. For example, the protagonist, Goblin Slayer, barely speaks and tends to use the same words, usually monosyllables or short phrases, to communicate, but his new friends encourage him to expand his vocabulary and relationships. Likewise, the priestess grows in power and confidence.

Another thing is that the anime starts off strong, giving us a realistic taste of fantasy by showing the brutal consequences of the war between monsters and humans, in the same way that goblins are often ignored by most experienced adventurers, but that doesn't mean they aren't a serious threat that can destroy lives.

Unfortunately, what started out so well fizzles out along the way, as the anime then slows down, and I confess that I even fell asleep at times, so I had to rewatch some episodes. Both seasons are similar in that the last two episodes are the ones that show the most action or the best battles.

In short, this anime has potential that could have been better exploited. I don't know how closely it follows the light novels that preceded it, but since the second season came out in 2023, there has been no news of whether it will be renewed for a third or more seasons. I give this anime a 6/10.

Los animes de fantasía, nos transportan a mundos imaginarios llenos de diferentes cosas y criaturas: magia, caballeros, o demonios, gigantes, orcos, troles, duendes, son lugares en los que podemos ver castillos, reyes, princesas y muchos más.

Justamente un anime de fantasía, ha sido el último que he visto y se desarrolla en un lugar en el que hay un gremio, en el cual se reúnen aventureros, estos responden a diferentes solicitudes para aniquilar o cazar monstruos que vagan por la tierra o también para responder a otro tipo de misión que sea ofrecida.

Así, una joven sacerdotisa que acaba de abobar el nivel más bajo, porcelana, se une a otros de su nivel para ir a cazar duendes, pero todo se sale de control y cuando su equipo está en peligro, llega un aventurero que acaba rápidamente con los duendes y logra salvar su vida, así comienza Goblin Slayer.

Tal como su nombre lo indica, el anime, basado en una serie de novelas ligeras japonesas, se centra en la vida de un joven aventurero, de nivel plata al que nunca se le ve el rostro y tampoco se conoce su nombre real, el cual solo desea atender solicitudes o contratos relativos a cazar o acabar con duendes.

Debo decir que su primer capítulo es muy crudo, ya que vemos escenas bastante gráficas, que nos muestran la naturaleza de los duendes y también nos hace ver a este aventurero un poco despiadado, pero a medida que el anime avanza, comprendemos los motivos por los que odia tanto a los duendes.

Ahora bien, los duendes, aunque no son muy listos, todos ellos son machos y su peligro radica en sus números. Además, se caracterizan por arrasar aldeas, matar a todos sus habitantes, secuestrar mujeres, violarlas para reproducirse y después devorarlas.

Nuestro protagonista al que se le conoce como Goblin Slayer, perdió al único familiar vivo que le quedaba, a la edad de 10 años, por un ataque de duendes, fue testigo desde el lugar en el que su hermana lo escondió, de como los duendes la violaron y asesinaron por ello está obsesionado con acabarlos.

Este personaje que suele trabajar solo, tras rescatar a la sacerdotisa, comienza a hacer equipo con ella y a medida que avanza el anime termina formando un grupo con la sacerdotisa, una alta Elfa que es arquera, un enano que es hechicero y un sacerdote lagarto.

Entre los fuertes de este anime tenemos su música. Tanto los opening como los ending son buenos y con animaciones que agradan. Además la música utilizada en los capítulos para los diferentes momentos: calma, batallas o diversión son acertados.

En cuanto a la animación, podemos hablar de dos. En la primera temporada se evidencia que es de alta calidad, pero en la segunda baja la calidad de la misma.

Otro punto fuerte es la gran especialización del protagonista, en cuanto a sus enemigos, es experto sin igual en la caza de duendes, posee mucho conocimiento de su comportamiento, tácticas y debilidades, lo que le permite crear estrategias acertadas para atacarlos, sabe que armas son más útiles contra ellos y los tipos de duendes a los que pueden enfrentar, ente otros.

Aunque el anime solo tiene dos temporadas, se ve que los personajes se van desarrollando y por ejemplo el protagonista Goblin Slayer, apenas habla y suele usar las mismas palabras, usualmente monosílabos o frases cortas, para comunicarse, pero sus nuevos amigos lo estimulan para que amplíe su vocabulario y relaciones, así mismo la sacerdotisa, va creciendo en poder y confianza.

Otra cosa es que el anime comienza de manera fuerte, dándonos una muestra realista de la fantasía, al mostrar las consecuencias brutales de la guerra entre monstruos y humanos, de la misma manera que los duendes suelen ser ignorados por la mayoría de aventureros experimentados, pero no por ello dejan de ser una amenaza sería que puede destruir vidas.

Pero lamentablemente lo que comenzó muy bien se va diluyendo en el camino, pues luego el anime se hace lento y confieso que en ocasiones hasta me dormí por lo que tuve que volver a ver algunos capítulos, ambas temporadas tienen similitudes en cuanto a que en los dos últimos capítulos son los que muestran más acción o las mejores batallas.

En resumen, este anime que tiene potencial tal vez pudo ser más explotado. Desconozco que tan apegado esté a las novelas ligeras que lo preceden, pero desde 2023 que salió su segunda temporada no hay noticias de si se renovará para una tercera o más temporadas, yo le doy a este anime un 6 / 10.

Forgettable adventure to pass time, mediocre in execution. Protagonist is shallow, despite gift of strategy.

This show is a prominent example of a new cheap trend in anime: main character is a faceless mannequin, or could be, since you would not be able to tell the difference because he never takes the helmet off, so that animators are not bothered to draw his face. As result, range of emotions that dummy-the-protagonist expresses is dramatically limited. The same could be said about the story: goblins are being killed in increasing quantities, and the entire gist of the plot is that main character is laughed upon for his burning hatred of weaklings that stronger fighters don't even bother hunting, but in the end he is acknowledged for his goblin-slaying expertise after fighting off massive attack of goblins. Meh.

When I watched the first season of this anime, I really didn't expect to find what I ended up seeing in the end: some sadistic goblins kidnapping women and a certain level of gore when it came to the confrontations. And I didn't expect it because at first everything seemed to be a bit adventurous, perhaps with touches of an isekai where magic with spells and strange creatures would predominate. The truth is that it is an anime that personally surprised me quite a lot, a bit cliché everything but it is very good. Knowing all this, I decided to watch this movie (I haven't seen the second season) to try to reinforce a little bit that initial season and see if I dare to take a look at the continuation of the story.

Cuando vi la primera temporada de este anime la verdad no esperaba encontrarme lo que al final terminé viendo: unos duendes un poco sádicos secuestrando a mujeres y cierto nivel de gore a la hora de los enfrentamientos. Y no me lo esperaba porque en principio todo parecía ser medio aventurero, quizás con pinceladas de un isekai en donde lo que iba a predominar era la magia con hechizos y criaturas extrañas. La verdad es que es un anime que en lo personal me sorprendió bastante, un tanto cliché todo pero es muy bueno. Sabiendo todo esto decido entonces ver esta película (la segunda temporada no la he visto) para buscar reforzar un poco esa temporada inicial y ver si me animo a echarle un ojo a la continuación de la historia.

The truth is that this movie is a kind of extra episode of the anime, I do not know if I see it as a film as such because nothing extraordinary happens in it that alters or changes the plot, everything is more or less in the same line. This does not mean that it is not worth watching, if you like anime you will like this.

Al final de la temporada ellos conocen a una especie de reina/doncella/sacerdotisa de alto nivel que para los efectos de esta película les pide una misión especial que es la que llevarán a cabo. Tienen que ir a una montaña lejana a hacer frente a un rey duende muy poderoso al mismo tiempo que tiene que rescatar a la hija de una persona muy poderosa del reino. La verdad es que esta película es una especie de episodio extra del anime, no se yo si verlo como un film como tal porque en el no ocurre nada extraordinario que altere o cambie la trama, todo va más o menos en la misma línea. Esto no quiere decir que no valga la pena verla, si te gusta el anime te va a gustar esto.

De las cosas que más valoro es el gore que hay, en apariencia no parece que cupiera eso pero ahí es donde hace el giro todo, la violencia con la que este cazador de duende se hace con sus presas es notable y esto pasa básicamente por la ira y el resentimiento que él le tiene a estas criaturas; todo es producto de experiencias pasadas. Esta violencia de la que les hablo está acompañada por el hecho de que puede llegar a ser muy gráfica, por momentos vemos mucha sangre y sobretodo expresiones corporales; las formas en como detallaron y diseñaron a los duendes va en concordancia con esto.

The animation is of great quality, since the anime I have realized that this section is perhaps the top of this “universe”. The fights are very good, all the sequences are extremely fluid and successful; I think that what was said before about how graphic it is helps to make everything more eye-catching. It is super interesting because we are facing a pretty average anime/movie I think, and that they have this kind of animation says a lot about the level of anime in general, the bar is getting higher and higher. I think this story may bore many because at least in the first season and this movie we have not seen anything different, I do not know if in the second season they bet on something different, but so far I feel that it is more of the same. I repeat: it is not bad but monotonous.

La animación es de mucha calidad, desde el anime me he dado cuenta que este apartado es quizás lo más top de este "universo". Las peleas son muy buenas, todas sus secuencias son extremadamente fluidas y logradas; creo que lo dicho antes referente a lo gráfica que es ayuda a que todo sea más vistoso. Es super interesante porque estamos ante un anime/película creo yo bastante promedio y que tengan este clase de animación dice mucho del nivel en el que está el anime en general, la vara cada vez se pone más alta. Creo que esta historia a muchos les puede aburrir porque por lo menos en la primera temporada y esta película no hemos visto nada diferente, desconozco si en la segunda temporada apuestan por algo diferente, pero hasta acá siento que es más de lo mismo. Repito: no es mala sino monótona.

It is a bit flat but you can watch it without problems and it lasts less than an hour and a half. It is enjoyable for its animation and for the gore/violence that can be seen. It's true that at times they kind of try to hint at something a little over the top but it's very mild. If you've already seen the second season let me know if it's worth watching and if you haven't seen anything then yes, I recommend this, at least to pass the time it's worth it.

En fin, estamos ante una película muy cool que no hace falta haber visto el anime para entenderla ya que al principio del mismo te hacen una especie de recuento de lo sucedido previamente. Es un tanto plana pero se puede ver sin problemas además de que dura menos de hora y media. Se disfruta por su animación y por el gore/violencia que se puede ver. Es verdad que a veces como que buscan insinuar algo un poco más subido de tono pero es muy leve. Si ya viste la segunda temporada hazme saber si vale la pena verla y si no has visto nada pues si, te recomiendo esto, por lo menos para pasar el rato sirve.

A few days ago I enjoyed the first season of Globlin Slayer, I did it because it was dubbed into Latin Spanish and I didn't want to read subtitles this time, but I liked it a lot so soon I will watch the movie and the second season in its original language, but I didn't want to miss the excitement of sharing my impressions, I must say that I liked it quite a bit considering that it is not a genre of anime that I watch frequently, of course it is full of common places in this regard, such as the existence of different races of creatures, where the human race is what predominates the most in the series but obviously there are races of elves, dwarves, lizards, among others, there are also evil creatures that threaten the existence of everyone else, there are also religious cults, under this panorama coexist the adventurers, who are a guild of individuals who are in charge of hunting evil creatures, the protagonist of the story is one of these adventurers and specializes in only hunting goblins.

Hace unos días atrás disfruté la primera temporada de Globlin Slayer, lo hice porque estaba doblada al español latino y no quería leer subtítulos en esta ocasión, pero me gustó mucho así que pronto me veré la película y la segunda temporada en idioma original, pero no quería dejar pasar la emoción de compartir mi impresiones, debo decir que me gustó bastaste considerando que no es un género de anime que vea con frecuencia, por supuesto que esta lleno de lugares comunes en cuanto a esto, como por ejemplo la existencia de diferentes razas de criaturas, donde la raza humana es lo que más predomina en serie pero obviamente existen las razas de elfos, enanos, lagartos, entre otros, también existen criaturas malvadas que amenazan la existencia de todos los demás, también existen cultos religiosos, bajo este panorama conviven los aventureros, que son un gremio de individuos que se encargan de cazar a las criaturas malvadas, el protagonista de la historia es uno de estos aventureros y se especializa en solamente cazar a los goblins.

La historia me gusta bastante, porque aunque refuerza el estereotipo de héroe que no busca gloria con sus acciones, también nos gana el corazón me recuerda mucho al Mandaloriano de la saga de Star Wars 😊 al no dejar ver su rostro pero si revelar que en el fondo tiene un gran corazón, en el camino llega a hacer equipo con una sacerdotisa tras rescatarla de una misión fallida con un equipo de novatos, pero más adelante también irán a pareciendo más compañeros que unirán a el la aventura o lo buscaran como apoyo para misiones más peligrosas, me gusta que hasta el momento de finalizar la primera temporada no se muestra el rostro del Goblin Slayer, esto mantiene mis expectativas con respecto a la continuación de la historia que pronto veré. Espero que le den una oportunidad a esta serie porque esta bien bonita

Today I bring you a new entry for my Anime Challenge.

This entry was supposed to be about an anime called "Great Teacher Onizuka", but when I searched to watch it I realized that it has more than 40 episodes and it's impossible for me to watch it in one day, so I decided to change it for time factor.

I've already had to make some unforeseen changes to the original list of anime for the challenge, but when I initially made it I didn't take into account the number of episodes, so I will most likely keep having to make changes to the list from now on.

This time the anime chosen is "Goblin Slayer". A rather dark adventure anime that was recommended to me on a couple of occasions before and I hadn't decided to watch, so I took the opportunity of this challenge to watch it and review it.

Se suponía que esta entrega sería sobre un anime llamado "Great Teacher Onizuka", pero cuando busqué para verlo me di cuenta de que tiene más de 40 episodios y me resulta imposible verlo en un día, así que decidí cambiarlo por factor tiempo. Hello to all anime fans, I hope you are feeling great today. I want to share with you a new review.. today I will talk about Goblin Slayer anime.. and the thing is that watching this series is quite an experience, especially when you expect another typical medieval fantasy anime, with some action and maybe a bit darker touch.. what it offers, however, is a controversial mix of raw themes, somewhat strategic combat, and a sometimes disconcerting aesthetic that can leave viewers in opposite extremes.. you either love it, or you hate it.. and I think that is the most complicated thing, deciding the value of this series. From the very first episode, the series doesn't hold back with the wow factor, this single episode sets the brutal tone they want to present or sell you, throwing you into chaos in a goblin raid that destroys any expectations of a joyride....
This episode is so intense that it generated a lot of controversy upon release, leaving many viewers unsure if they could continue the series or not... surely many of you will or could come to dismiss it with just this first episode. But hey, this intensity sets the tone for what the Goblin Slayer character means in this world, the series tends to fall back on repetitive goblin hunting sequences, which can make it feel somewhat monotonous.. and as for the animation, there is a curious mix between traditional 2D and 3D or CGI.. they don't give you a seamless blend and I think it's pretty far from what some of you would expect...
Honestly, it often felt like a strange clash, particularly with the main character, the Goblin Slayer's armor is made entirely out of CGI, which makes him feel out of place in contrast to the 2D characters around him, it's hard to shake the feeling that he comes from a different series every time he appears on screen... Especially since the CGI doesn't add anything specifically aesthetic to his character.. instead I feel like it devalues him, as if the budget wasn't enough to give him a uniform, coherent and appealing look, plus the Goblins lack a grotesque and intimidating aura.. they appear somewhat cartoonish, which somewhat reduces the fear factor that the series tries so hard and desperately to establish.

Quiero compartirles una nueva reseña.. hoy les hablaré del anime Goblin Slayer.. y es que ver esta serie es toda una experiencia, especialmente cuando esperas otro anime típico de fantasía medieval, con algo de acción y quizás un toque un poco más oscuro.. lo que ofrece, sin embargo, es una mezcla controvertida de temas crudos, combate algo estratégico, y una estética a veces desconcertante que puede dejar a los espectadores en extremos opuestos.. o lo amas, o lo odias.. y creo que es lo más complicado, decidir el valor de esta serie. Desde el primer episodio, la serie no se contiene con el factor sorpresa, este solo capítulo establece el tono brutal que te quieren presentar o vender, lanzándote al caos en una incursión de goblins que destruye cualquier expectativa de un viaje alegre..
Este episodio es tan intenso que generó mucha polémica al momento de estrenarse, dejando a muchos espectadores inseguros sobre si podrían continuar la serie o no.. seguramente muchos de ustedes la descartarán o podrían llegar a descartarla con solo este primer episodio. Pero bueno, esta intensidad marca la pauta para lo que significa el personaje del Goblin Slayer en este mundo, la serie tiende a recaer en secuencias repetitivas de caza de goblins, lo que puede hacer que se sienta algo monótona.. y en cuanto a la animación, hay una mezcla curiosa entre 2D tradicional y el 3D o CGI.. no te ofrecen una mezcla fluida y creo que está bastante alejado de lo que algunos de ustedes esperarían..
Honestamente, muchas veces se sintió como un choque extraño, particularmente con el protagonista, la armadura del Goblin Slayer está hecha enteramente de CGI, lo cual hace que se sienta fuera de lugar en contraste con los personajes 2D que lo rodean, es difícil sacarse la sensación de que proviene de una serie distinta cada vez que aparece en pantalla.. Especialmente porque el CGI no le añade nada específicamente estético a su personaje.. en lugar de eso siento que lo devalúa, como si el presupuesto no alcanzara para darle una apariencia uniforme, coherente y atractiva, además los Goblins carecen de un aura grotesca e intimidante.. aparecen algo caricaturescos, lo cual reduce un poco el factor de miedo que la serie intenta establecer con tanto empeño y con tanta desesperación.

The soundtrack tries its best, but sometimes fails in this desperate attempt... the mystical background music often feels out of place in scenes that should be tense or suspenseful, while the more violent tracks that try to enliven all the action don't line up with what's going on visually. . there are some scenes where you expect the sound to signal some hidden danger or something, something to make you hold your breath, but instead it just announces another round of goblin hunting, losing all the subtlety and horror of a real latent danger.... This lack of synergy between the visual and the aural gives the series a somewhat meh feel, in my opinion, which I found frustrating because of its great potential..
And just that, speaking of potential, I think the story itself has fascinating themes.. the main character is relentlessly focused on his mission, driven by a trauma in his past, something that happened when he was still small... The series suggests some very good character development and mental complexity, as we are presented with the life of someone who has certainly seen and lived too much, and watching him work through various tactics, maximizing every resource and even using unusual weapons makes for many interesting combat sequences.... This tactical approach gives it a certain level of realism that is rarely explored in a fantasy anime, here our hero is not a god among others, but simply a highly skilled warrior who treats even low level enemies as truly deadly threats.. this attention to strategic detail I feel is some of the best in the series, making the encounters feel more grounded, better.

La serie sugiere un desarrollo de personaje y una complejidad mental muy buena, ya que se nos presenta la vida de alguien que sin duda ha visto y vivido demasiado, y verlo trabajar en diversas tácticas, maximizando cada recurso e incluso usando armas inusuales, da lugar a muchas secuencias de combate interesantes.. Este enfoque táctico le da cierto nivel de realismo que rara vez se explora en un anime de fantasía, aquí nuestro héroe no es un dios entre los demás, sino simplemente es un guerrero altamente capacitado que trata incluso a los enemigos de bajo nivel como amenazas realmente mortales.. esta atención a los detalles estratégicos siento que es de lo mejor de la serie, haciendo que los encuentros se sientan más fundamentados, mejores.

Despite the above, the series falls back into its fairly static formula of very recurring hunting missions... without exploring much beyond the Goblin Slayer obsession, instead of expanding the protagonist's world or his mental journey, the plot feels stagnant in mere Goblin hunts, which rarely change in outcome or style.... Obviously, some new characters are introduced, bringing some much needed variety to the cast, but while these characters add humor or dynamic group chemistry, they are not fully developed and I feel like several times they could have died and it wouldn't have mattered in the slightest.. they don't seem like real people with motivations....
Then there is the fanservice, which can feel distracting and out of place given the brutality of the series, although some may argue that it relaxes the tone of the series, which I find stupid, I feel it takes away a lot of seriousness from the story.. similarly with the graphic violence, I think it hits you, but I started to feel it quite gratuitous as the series went on.. They want to sell you the idea that it's violent and you have to watch it because it's violent and different, and violent.. I didn't like that feeling that it's just there to shock instead of serving the narrative, i feel that these two things quite undermine the potential of a story that could have been so much better...
But well, returning to something relatively good, I commented that the battles are indeed enjoyable in certain occasions... I liked how some poisons, traps and unconventional tactics were used.. making clear the great knowledge that the protagonist has about this type of fights.. It's satisfying to see him overcome some creatures, but it's still hard to ignore that the fights themselves start to feel repetitive, as if the only riddle to be solved over and over again is: “how to kill goblins differently this time”.

Luego está el fanservice, que puede sentirse distractor y fuera de lugar dada la brutalidad de la serie, aunque algunos pueden argumentar que relaja el tono de la serie, cosa que me parece estúpido, yo siento que le resta mucha seriedad a la historia.. de manera similar ocurre con la violencia gráfica, creo que te impacta, pero la comencé a sentir bastante gratuita a medida que avanzaba la serie.. Te quieren vender la idea de que es violento y tienes que verlo porque es violento y diferente, y violento.. no me gustó esa sensación de que solo esté ahí para impactar en lugar de servir a la narrativa, siento que estas dos cosas menosprecian bastante el potencial de una historia que pudo haber sido mucho mejor..
Pero bueno, volviendo a algo relativamente bueno, les comentaba que las batallas efectivamente en ciertas ocasiones son disfrutables.. me gustaron como se usaron algunos venenos, trampas y tácticas poco convencionales.. dejando en claro el gran conocimiento que tiene el protagonista sobre este tipo de peleas.. Es satisfactorio verlo superar a algunas criaturas, pero aún así es difícil ignorar que las peleas en sí mismas comienzan a sentirse repetitivas, como si el único enigma que se resolviera una y otra vez es: "cómo matar goblins de una manera diferente esta vez".

In the end, this anime has its moments, takes some risks, and doesn't apologize at all in showing the rawness of its world.. for some viewers, this approach may be “different” in a way.. it's not afraid to show its world in an unforgiving way, and avoids the typical superpowered protagonist by giving us a hero who wins through skill and previous preparation, not by magical invincibility, and although they are right in some part, for me the clumsy mix of animation styles, and the repetitive structure of the missions, limit it quite a bit... It's like the series is so focused on showing violence, fanservice, “brutal” stuff, that it forgets to fully develop its story and characters...
I give this anime a 6/10. It has the makings to be something special, but its execution limits it.. I guess if you like dark fantasy and don't mind a heavy dose of violence, well here it is for you to enjoy... just don't expect deep storytelling or top notch production. Es como si la serie estuviera tan enfocada en mostrar violencia, fanservice, cosas "brutales", que se olvida de desarrollar completamente su historia y sus personajes..
Yo le doy a este anime un 6/10. Tiene las bases para ser algo especial, pero su ejecución lo limita.. Supongo que si te gusta la fantasía oscura y no te molesta una dosis fuerte de violencia, pues aquí está para ti, para que lo disfrutes.. solamente no esperen una narrativa profunda o una producción de primer nivel. One anime series that I did manage to watch was Goblin Hunter, an anime that at first I didn't have high expectations about it, I really gave it a chance simply because my best friend told me to watch it and I decided to say yes, at least to see how it was. We watched the first season and these days the second season of many anime concluded, among them Goblin Slayer, so I decided to bring you the review of what I have seen so far of the anime, since as you know, I don't read manga.

Goblin Hunter is an anime that premiered in 2018, based on the light novel and manga under the same name. The manga was first published in 2017 and due to the good reception, it was decided to adapt it into a TV series. As for the anime, I can tell you that the anime is of the dark fantasy and horror genre, a genre that is not so much to my liking, even this same thing happens to me for movies or series. The main reason is that I don't really enjoy those kinds of stories, maybe I'm a little scared haha, although it's not that if I watch them I don't sleep. But as I said before, even though it's not my favorite genre, I decided to give it a chance.

The creator of the story is Kagyū Kumo, while the adaptation of the anime was in charge of White Fox and Liden Films, in seasons one and two respectively, while the direction was in charge of Takaharu Ozakia and Misato Takada, a change of both studios and directors between seasons. The main reason may have been because the anime was not as expected, at least in the first season, at least for me it wasn't, but I'll tell you more about that later. The plot of this anime is about a boy who is known as the Goblin Slayer, who accompanied by a priestess, go in search of these creatures that are usually considered evil, although in rank they are usually considered as weak, but the obsession for "Goblin Slayer" is only to accept missions where you have to look for these creatures. The main anime character is the priestess, although my favorite is the Goblin Slayer. Personally, following the story, I think the plot is more focused on Goblin Slayer.

En los últimos días, no he visto nuevos animes, tengo pensado ver algunos, pero a veces el tiempo no me alcanza. Una serie animada que sí logré ver fue Cazador de duendes, un anime que al principio no tenía altas expectativas sobre él, realmente le di una oportunidad simplemente porque mi mejor amigo me dijo para verlo y pues decidí decirle que sí, al menos para ver que tal. Nos vimos la primera temporada y en estos días concluyó la segunda temporada de muchos animes, entre ellos Goblin Slayer, así que decidí traerles la reseña de lo que he visto hasta el momento del anime, ya que como saben, no leo lo mangas.
Cazador de Duendes es un anime que se estrenó en el año 2018, basado en la novela ligera y manga bajo el mismo nombre. El manga se publicó por primera vez en 2017 y debido al bien recibimiento, se decidió adaptarla a una serie de TV. En cuanto al anime, les puedo decir que el mismo es del género de fantasía oscura y terror, un género que no es tan de mí agradó, incluso esto mismo me sucede para las películas o series. La razón principal es que no disfruto mucho de esas clases de historias, puede ser que soy algo miedoso jaja, aunque tampoco es que si las veo no duermo. Pero como les dije anteriormente, a pesar de no ser mi género favorito, decidí darle una oportunidad.
El creador de la historia es Kagyū Kumo, mientras que la adaptación del anime estuvo a cargo de White Fox y Liden Films, en las temporadas uno y dos respectivamente, mientras que la dirección estuvo a cargo de Takaharu Ozakia y Misato Takada, un cambio tanto de estudios, como de directores entre temporadas. La razón principal puede que se debió a que el anime no fue lo esperado, al menos en la primera temporada, al menos para mí no lo fue, pero de ello les hablaré más adelante. La trama de este anime trata sobre un chico que es conocido con el Cazador de Duendes, quien acompañado de una sacerdotisa, van es búsqueda de estas criaturas que suelen ser consideradas malvadas, aunque en rango suelen ser considerado como débiles, pero la obsesión por "Goblin Slayer" es solo aceptar misiones donde haya que buscar a estas criaturas. El personaje principal de anime es la sacerdotisa, aunque mi favorito es el Cazador de Duendes. En lo personal, siguiendo la historia, pienso que la trama se centra más en Goblin Slayer. Estos dos están acompañado de otros grupos de aventureros, en total son 5.

The story of this anime also has many explicit and sexual scenes, another reason to be considered not for all audiences, it falls into the Ecchi and Seinen genre, terms that are not so well known to me, but something good with this kind of anime is that we learn new things. The story of the anime in the first season was pretty good in general, I do not know how well adapted it was with respect to the manga, but as I did not read it, I can tell you that omitting that, I thought it was a good season, if not perfect, but at least there were great moments of full adrenaline, of course a lot of violence and nudity for me liked, but this does not mean that the anime was bad, because it is not, at least in the inaugural season.

The plot of the second season was really boring, because yes, in the first one there was a lot of violence, well in this second one it was the opposite, which must have been a disappointment for fans of the Globin Slayer genre. What is the animation is another point where there was a dip between the first and second season of the anime. Visually, the first season was good, with good battles, pretty good character designs, outstanding visual effects. The second season in terms of battles there was a noticeable drop and doing some research, the animation studio was changed for the second season, which was a total mistake, a lot of censorship and most likely they wanted to leave the violence aside to attract a larger audience, that could be the main reason. I did like the soundtrack in both seasons. The opening and ending are not my favorites, but they are not bad at all.

El desarrollo de los personajes y su crecimiento está bastante bien, realmente no tengo quejas en este aspecto. Nos encontramos con la sacerdotisa que es un personaje realmente tierno, mientras que Goblin Slayer es realmente lo contrario, le tiene un gran odio a los duendes y quiere acabar con todos. Para conocer cuáles son los motivos, pues es importante ver esta serie Gore, porque la trama, lo que nos muestra, es una violencia realmente extrema, que para aquellos que no son amantes de este tipo, no les va a gustar, aunque no es mi género favorito los animes Gore, con fantasía oscura, pero no fue desagradable ni mucho menos, tiene sus cosas destacadas en la historia. La historia del anime en la primera temporada fue bastante buena en general, no sé qué tan bien adaptada, estuvo con respecto al manga, pero como no lo leí, les puedo decir que omitiendo eso, me pareció una buena temporada, si no es perfecta, pero al menos hubo grandes momentos de full adrenalina, claro mucha violencia y desnudo para mí gustó, pero esto no quiero decir que el anime haya salido malo, porque no es así, al menos en la temporada inaugural.
La trama de la segunda temporada fue realmente aburrida, porque sí, en la primera hubo mucha violencia, pues en esta segunda fue lo contrario, lo que debió ser una decepción para los fanáticos del género de Globin Slayer. Lo que es la animación es otro punto donde hubo un bajón entre la primera y segunda temporada del anime. Visualmente, la primera temporada fue buena, con buenas batallas, diseños de los personajes bastante buenos, efectos visuales destacados. La segunda temporada en cuanto a las batallas hubo un gran descenso notable e investigando un poco, se cambió el estudio de animación para la segunda temporada, lo cual fue totalmente un desacierto, mucha censura y lo más probable es que quisieron dejar la violencia a un lado para atraer a un mayor público, es pudo ser la razón principal. La banda sonora sí me gustó en ambas temporadas. Los opening y ending no son de mis favoritos, pero no están nada mal.

Goblin Slayer is an anime that honestly is not for all audiences, especially for the first season, in the second there is a lot of censorship, which is why the fandom was very disappointed with the second installment, after seeing a first not perfect but at least entertaining for fans of the genre. From the first season I would highlight the animation and part of the story and character development. At least as a personal taste. An anime that was correct and I would give it a 7 for the first season. The second would be a 4, it has its things that I liked, but too much dialogue, little action in the first episodes, which is why I didn't finish watching it. Goblin Slayer es un anime que sinceramente no es para todo público, sobre todo por la primera temporada, en la segunda hay mucha censura, razón por la cual el fandom quedó muy decepcionado con la segunda entrega, luego de ver una primera no perfecta pero sí al menos entretenida para los fanáticos del género. De la primera temporada destacaría la animación y parte de la historia y desarrollo de los personajes. Al menos como gusto personal. Un anime que fue correcto y le colocaría un 7 en la primera temporada. La segunda sería un 4, tiene sus cosas que me gustaron, pero demasiados diálogos, poca acción en los primeros episodios, razón por la cual no lo terminé de ver. Si eres fan del género Gore, además de los animes con contenidos sexuales, pues la primera temporada es la ideal para ti. Pero, si no te gusta ver esto, no es una opción. El anime me sorprendió para bien en la primera temporada y la segunda fue una decepción, esa es mi conclusión de acuerdo a mi experiencia personal.

Watching anime is one of the things I love to do in my free time. I don't like criticizing anime because, whatever way they present it to me, I like to look at the bright side of it. Well, this is kind of hard to look at, although at some point in the series it went on to be interesting.

Early last week, I wanted to watch a movie in my free time, but I don't have any anime at all, which is somewhat odd. So I went to the anime page to search for one to download, and I saw this anime. So I said to myself, Let me watch it. There's one thing I have with series. I don't really like suspense; I always download a full season at once to avoid any form of stress. So I decided to download a full season of this anime.

Before saying anything about the anime, I'd like to go over the review first.

Goblin Slayer is an adventure story, particularly centered on a man whose name is "Goblin Slayer," who holds a great grudge against goblins due to past encounters. Despite being a silver-ranked adventurer, he takes missions only related to goblins to be able to eradicate them from the world because he thinks of them as formidable foes that could destroy the world.

There was one other person, a young priestess, who was able to join the adventurer. She found a group of newbies who were really excited about adventuring. They chose the task of eliminating goblins, thinking it would be a straightforward task, only to find themselves overwhelmed and defeated by the goblins. There are a lot of reasons why I believe that this anime could have been better.

First, the concepts of goblins, orcs, and adventures have become common concepts in anime, as we've seen in "Reincarnated as a Slime" and other ever-interesting anime, which made it hard for this to look interesting even if it had a good ending. The high taste for those great animes made this movie look average and hard to accept.

Another thing is the level of violence. When starting the first episode, I was quite terrified, to be honest, due to the fact that there were violent acts by the goblins towards people. Men were killed and women were treated unfairly, which first made it hard for me to continue, but I had to summon my courage to continue it because I've already downloaded the whole season and I don't have any other one to watch.

What I was saying is that first impressions last longer, and these scenes that were introduced in the first episode degraded the high expectations I had for the movie.

Apart from the first episode's problems, I found it hard to grasp the concept of the plot even after the fourth episode. Only until the fifth episode was I able to grasp what they were actually trying to pass across; the first four episodes weren't able to live up to what I expected.

But after the sixth to seventh episode, the anime got interesting after they were able to form groups with other members; this went on to be interesting till the end of the movie. But it's a little too late for me. This has been one of those animes with the slowest start. I was only able to be patient enough. If I hadn't waited, I could probably not recommend it to anyone. But seeing it through to the end, I was able to leverage everything together to give it an average.

Season 2

Season 2 is still currently airing, even though season 1 was quite average. I have high expectations for season 2 because I understood some parts of season 1 and the suspense that was in place for season 2, so I had to give it my best shot for season 2. Wish me luck 😅.

After I finish season 2, I'll surely come to give a review about it. I hope it lives up to my expectations this time.

Hello everyone, i hope you are doing great. I will cut right to the chase and let you all know that Goblin Slayer season 2 is out. Yeah, it's true there is already a season 1 out there, which was released in 2018 and it has 12 episodes.

Goblin Slayer for all of you who don't know what the anime is about, is a fantasy, action/adventure anime that is quite gory so be prepared before you watch it. The story of the first season is quite simple, we have a team of rookie adventurers who begin their journey in a goblin cave.

They believe that goblins are easy to kill but apparently, the reality is a bit different, especially for some rookies. So the team is basically massacred and as the priestess of the group is about to give up, an armored-like knight guy appears around nowhere, kills every goblin and saves her.

Apparently, the guy is named The Goblin Slayer and as the name suggests he has an obsession with killing goblins. In fact, he doesn't have a group and he is fighting solo only goblins, nothing else with a goal to eliminate them. Soon the priestess with join him along with a couple of other characters, a lizardman, an elf and a dwarf and together they will face more and more Goblins.

The second season will also have 12 episodes, there are 5 currently out but still i don't see any actual plot. It's more like the adventures of the party killing goblins and their everyday lives. There is some character evolution as well still there is a long way to go. Hopefully, we will see some kind of plot regarding the goblins or a stronger goblin-like foe in the coming episodes.

What I Like and What I Don't

To tell you the truth it's not one of the best anime out there, in my opinion at least, but it's not the worst either. I would say if i have to rate it that i would give it a 6.5/10. What i really really like about it, are the fight scenes that are full of gore scenes. Also, the way they fight the goblins are always different depending on the case and the terrain which makes it seem a bit more "real" in a way.

It's not like you have the typical team that easily kills everything with their OP powers. Instead, you have actual characters who struggle against many enemies, have limited powers and can easily get hurt if they don't follow a plan. Not that they are stupid or something, but the anime tries to show you the reality and cruelty of all those adventures and quests we may play in games or see in other animes that seem cool.

What i don't like is that i don't actually see, for now at least, an actual strong plot. Instead, i watch their everyday lives and some fights along the way. I would prefer a better structured plot which it would seem more interesting in my eyes, as it would seem more interesting to explore their everyday lives should an actual strong plot exist. Now i don't seem to care that much about the character but only the fight scenes and maybe the Goblin Slayer a bit.

Hello to all anime lovers, well the truth is that I started with a lot of desire to see this second season of goblin slayer, but honestly from the first episode I felt a very high decline in its animation.

Needless to say that compared to the first season, the colors and fluidity of movement of the characters were more than polished and successful, but in this second season things got worse.

I add, not only the graphics is ugly, but they resorted to the typical episode of talking and talking text between characters and not even animate a battle.

Hola a todos los amantes del anime, bueno la verdad empece con muchas ganas de ver esta segunda temporada de gobling slayer, pero honestamente desde el primer episodio se sintió un declive muy alto en su animación.

Sobra decir que comparado con su primera temporada, los colores y la fluidez de movimientos de los personajes eran mas que pulidos y acertados, pero en esta segunda temporada la cosa pues paso a peor.

Añado, no solo el apartado gráfico es feo, si no que recurrieron al típico episodio de hablar y hablar texto entre personajes y no animar ni una batalla.

Pero los animadores simplemente omitieron las escenas de muerte con(un salto de trancision de pantalla ) y "el grupo del heroe retornando de una titanica tarea de matar duendes" sin mostrar ni una toma del evento.

Clearly there will be people who will argue (but at least they are continuing the series, if you complain so much go watch the first season 1 million times and stay there).

But being honest being 2 totally different studios, the truth is not the same.

The worst thing that can happen is that they simply release a third season (even with crappier animations) and in a couple of years when nobody cares about the saga.

Claramente la idea es ver toda la serie cuando este completa en esta temporada, para al menos saber si la serie tiene fin. Pues si no lo tiene y piensan alargarlo a una tercera o cuarta temporada, creo que simplemente la cosa no funcionara.

Digo por el declive de animacion (de esta segunda que ya es de bajo presupuesto), sumado a la perdida de audiencia o de fans. Lo peor que puede pasar es que simplemente saquen una tercera temporada (aun con animaciones mas cutres) y en un par de años cuando a nadie le importe dicha saga.

Anyway, I guess it depends entirely on the manga author and if there is money to continue animating, because if the thing had been: I plan to make the series in low quality but I'm going to release 40 episodes in a row to end the series, well, I wouldn't say anything. But if they are only going to animate 12 episodes and it will continue in 8 years...the truth is that it is not worth dreaming about dreaming that it could be better in a third installment in the future.

En fin supongo que depende enteramente del autor de manga y si hay dinero para seguir animando, pues si la cosa hubiese sido : pienso hacer la serie en calidad baja pero voy a sacar 40 episodios de golpe seguidos para ponerle fin a la serie, pues no diria nada. Pero si solo van a animar 12 capitulos y continuara dentro de 8 años...la verdad no amerita ilusionarse con soñar que podrá ser mejor en una tercera entrega a futuro.

Que esta portada no los engañe ya que estamos ante un anime que lo es todo menos apto para toda la familia. Como siempre ando escuchando y buscando recomendaciones de animes que no he tenido la oportunidad de ver y en esta ocasión le tocó el turno a Goblin Slayer, una historia que la verdad me sorprendió muchísimo y es que al principio del mismo todavía no me convencía de todo pero conforme va avanzando la trama comienza a ponerse muy interesante.

Don't let this cover fool you because this is an anime that is anything but suitable for the whole family. As always I'm listening and looking for recommendations of anime that I haven't had the opportunity to see and this time it was Goblin Slayer's turn, a story that really surprised me a lot and at the beginning of it I still wasn't convinced at all but as it progresses the plot starts to get very interesting.

Ya hablaremos un poco más de eso pero cuando digo que no es apto para toda la familia es porque generalmente el anime es así, no es un producto que deba ser consumido por niños, por ejemplo. Este en especifico además de la violencia explicita que se hace presente está otro factor y es las connotaciones sexuales que tiene, no es para nada grafico ni sale en la pantallas pero claramente se entiende que sucede y no, no son por la razones que creen. Pero bueno, vamos entonces y hablemos un poco más a fondo de esta gran historia.

Esta historia comienza con una sacerdotisa quien está decidida a convertirse en una aventurera y para lograr ese cometido se une a una expedición con otro grupo de jóvenes, sin experiencia alguna ninguno de ellos, con la finalidad de lograrlo. La cuestión es que dicha misión sale absolutamente mal y nuestra aprendiz queda atrapada y llena de miedo en el fondo de una cueva la cual está llena de duendes. Pero todo da un giro inesperado cuando de la nada aparece un misterioso guerrero y acude al rescate de la joven sacerdotisa.

Creo que lo que más me gusto de este anime es el hecho de que pareciera que estamos dentro de un videojuego en donde los personajes principales tienen que ir avanzando y logrando completar las tareas y misiones que se les van presentando y esto es gracias a que podríamos decir que uno de sus géneros es precisamente la aventura y la acción. Es una historia que tiene todo tipo de personajes; desde los humanos, hasta elfos, duendes, enanos mágicos, hechiceros, hombres reptiles y cualquier otra criatura fantasiosa.

I think what I liked most about this anime is the fact that it seems that we are inside a video game where the main characters have to go forward and manage to complete the tasks and missions that are presented to them and this is thanks to the fact that we could say that one of its genres is precisely the adventure and action. It is a story that has all kinds of characters; from humans, to elves, goblins, magical dwarves, wizards, reptilian men and any other fantasy creature.

Y es que todos estos personajes conviven bajo la figura de un gremio, un sitio a donde van todos en búsqueda de trabajo. En ese lugar hay jerarquías e irás escalando de posiciones dependiendo de cuantos trabajos/misiones hagas, trabajos que no son otra cosa que peticiones de las personas de los pueblos para que les solucionen algún problema que tengan con alguna criatura no deseada.

And all these characters live together under the figure of a guild, a place where everyone goes in search of work. In this place there are hierarchies and you will climb positions depending on how many jobs/missions you do, jobs that are nothing more than requests from the people of the towns to solve some problem they have with some unwanted creature.

Al principio hablé de las connotaciones sexuales que podemos ver en este anime y la verdad es que si las hay pero no por las razones que cualquiera pudiera pensar. Para darles contexto, para que estos duendes se puede reproducir tienen que estar con una mujer humana de ahí a que en el anime siempre veamos como estos secuestran a cada rato a las mujeres. Pero no se alarmen que en ese sentido no es para nada explicito, nunca se va a ver nada de esa naturaleza en las pantallas más allá de la sugestión.

También quiero tocar par de puntos que pienso que son un fuerte muy grande esta historia, la animación y obviamente el elemento "gore". La primera está increíblemente bien lograda, a pesar de no ser un anime de renombre lo que hicieron con las animaciones es una locura, la manera como juegan con la cámara lenta o slow motion, el diseño de los personajes, las secuencias de acción que vemos bastante, son cosas que elevan la experiencia a la hora de ver este anime. Para mi un anime que cuente con una buena animación, es casi un éxito seguro.

I also want to touch on a couple of points that I think are a great strength of this story, the animation and obviously the "gore" element. The first one is incredibly well done, despite not being a renowned anime what they did with the animations is crazy, the way they play with slow motion, the character design, the action sequences that we see a lot, are things that elevate the experience when watching this anime. For me an anime that has a good animation is almost a sure success.

Y lo segundo es el nivel alto de violencia que vemos y por consiguiente las altas cantidades de sangre. En este tipo de historias es muy común que veamos estos elementos ya que son el gran valor agregado del anime y por el estilo de historia que nos cuenta, les recuerdo que se trata de una fantasía oscura llena de horror. Y el horror es algo que está muy presente, es increíble como en ocasiones sientes la tensión de que algo malo está a punto de pasar.

Pero no todo es violencia y sangre amigos, aquí también vemos una gran cantidad de valores que son muy importantes para el desarrollo de esta historia. Goblin Slayer es como es por un hecho que le sucedió en su pasado y a raíz de ahí formó una personalidad con un sentido de arraigo muy grande pero a la vez creando una corteza alrededor de las personas que lo hace una persona de pocas palabras y un tanto solitaria.

But not everything is violence and blood friends, here we also see a lot of values that are very important for the development of this story. Y es ahí donde entran los valores a los que me refiero, la amistad, el compañerismo, la familia y sobretodo el sentido de pertenencia. Ese grupo de personas le enseñarán a nuestro protagonista que no hay necesidad de ser un extraño a pesar de estar rodeado entre tanta gente pero creo que la enseñanza más importante de toda esta historia es el poder confiar los unos con los otros. TODOS tienen sus diferencias pero a medida que avanza la trama vemos como esas se van disipando para dar paso a la confianza y el respeto pleno.

And that is where the values I am referring to come in, friendship, companionship, family and above all the sense of belonging. This group of people will teach our protagonist that there is no need to be a stranger despite being surrounded by so many people but I think the most important lesson of this whole story is to be able to trust each other. En fin, un anime que lo tiene TODO a pesar de ser uno bastante corto, cuenta con doce episodios nada más con una duración de veinte minutos cada uno. No me arrepiento en lo absoluto de haberle dado una oportunidad, al contrario, me gustó mucho y es por eso que vengo aquí a recomendarlo. Son esas joyas que están ahí medio ocultas pero una vez que las descubres, no hay vuelta atrás. En lo que a la segunda temporada se refiere se espera que a lo largo de este año hayan noticias definitivas o en el mejor de los casos se estrene. Les dejo el tráiler de esta primera temporada.

Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown is a film released in 2020, it has a duration of 80 minutes and is a direct continuation of what happened in the anime, just as the anime was also produced by White Fox. Nuestros protagonistas además de rescatar a la chica tienen el desafió de enfrentarse al clima y tener que afrontar a los goblins siendo cosas que complicaran todo el asunto.

She is the adventurer who must rescue, she went with her group mates to complete a mission in a snowy area. She shows that she is a novice because she is not very adaptable and loses her composure when things do not go the way she wants, this is also seen in the decisions that she makes as a leader in which she does not take into account the consequences of the same.

Se nota que es una novata al ser poco adaptable y perder la compostura cuando las cosas no van como quiere, esto también se nota en las decisiones que toma como líder en las cuales no toma en cuenta las consecuencias de las mismas.

The other characters the goblin slayer, the priestess, the elf, the dwarf and the lizardman are exactly the same as in the anime. This is something that does not surprise at all since if in the anime their development was not given importance much less they will do it here, the fact that it does not surprise me does not mean that it does not disappoint me how little importance they are giving the characters. Los demás personajes el goblin slayer, la sacerdotisa, la elfa, el enano y el hombre lagarto son exactamente iguales que en el anime. Esto es algo que no sorprende en lo absoluto puesto que si en el anime no se le dio importancia a su desarrollo mucho menos lo harán aquí, el hecho de que no me sorprenda no quiere decir que no me decepcione la poca importancia que se les está dando a los personajes. The animation and the soundtrack are simply wonderful maintaining the standard that the anime set. I daresay I found the soundtrack much more epic.

In this film, the world of Goblin Slayer expanded more than is believed for 4 specific reasons: 1) The theme of some new gods was touched upon, leaving the door open to be retaken in the future. 2) Everything takes place in a new environment with new elements to which the protagonists must adapt. 3) Goblins are getting smarter than you think, learning much faster and even trying to do things to get stronger. 4) It shows us a new mutation of the goblins that presents new challenges to be able to face it.

En esta cinta se expandió el mundo de Goblin Slayer más de lo que se cree por 4 razones en concreto: 1) Se tocó el tema de algunos nuevos dioses dejando la puerta abierta para ser retomado en un futuro. 2) Todo transcurre en un nuevo ambiente con nuevos elementos a los cuales los protagonistas deben adaptarse. 3) Los goblins son cada vez más inteligentes de lo que se cree, aprendiendo mucho más rápido e incluso intentando hacer cosas para hacerse más fuertes. 4) Nos muestra una nueva mutación de los goblins que presenta nuevos desafíos para poder enfrentarlo.

Algo que se plantea en esta película y que espero que se retome en la próxima temporada es el hecho de como los protagonistas deben adaptarse al constante aprendizaje de los goblins, siendo que en la cinta los mismos se ven sorprendidos por los avances que tienen estos, si bien esto ya se vio con anterioridad en esta ocasión causo más impacto debido al salto intelectual que dieron los goblins. Es un añadido interesante puesto que si usan este recurso en un futuro le dará cierto toque de constante evolución para poder hacer frente a la amenaza.

Haré un pequeño énfasis en la aventurera novata puesto que me pareció simplemente maravilloso el cómo después de haber sido raptada por los goblins esta se muestra notablemente traumatizada y con mucho rencor hacia estos siendo totalmente acorde con todo lo que vivió. En este apartado también mencionare como el Goblin Slayer había previsto esa reacción, menciono esto debido a que se muestra mínimamente más empático que en el anime. No quiero que me malentiendan con esto último que destaque, no es un desarrollo de personajes ni mucho menos pero por lo menos es un cambio minúsculo en el personaje que es merecedor de resaltarse.

Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown is an excellent film that can be considered as a longer episode of the anime because it does not break with what it establishes but rather maintains it and in some cases improves it minimally. If you expect a movie with an interesting message and deep characters this is the wrong movie for you, what it does offer are action scenes, a lot of blood and very ingenious strategies to be able to face the differences in numbers. For all the above mentioned this film deserves a rating of 4.5 stars out of 7, hopefully the next installments will give some depth to its characters.

Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown es una excelente película que puede ser considerada como un episodio más largo del anime debido a que no rompe con lo que este establece sino que lo mantiene y en algunos casos lo mejora mínimamente. Si esperan una película con un mensaje interesante y personajes profundos esta es la cinta equivocada para ustedes, lo que si ofrece son escenas de acción, mucha sangre y estrategias muy ingeniosas para poder hacer frente a las diferencias de números. Por todo lo anterior mencionado esta película merece una calificación de 4,5 estrellas de 7, esperemos que las próximas entregas les den algo de profundidad a sus personajes.

Goblin Slayer was created by Kagyū Kumo first as a series of light novels, later there were two manga adaptations and an anime adaptation released in 2018 that has 12 chapters produced by White Fox, a second season was confirmed for this year but not A specific release date was given, it also has a film produced by the same studio (The next post will deal with it jejeje). The anime has a lot of action, adventure, horror and a lot of blood, the story focuses on the Goblin Slayer and places us in a fantasy world in which there are various monsters and adventurers who are hired to hunt them through missions for money such as reward, goblins are considered very weak and monsters less formidable but our protagonist knows very well that these should not be underestimated under any circumstances.

Goblin Slayer fue creada por Kagyū Kumo primeramente como una serie de novelas ligeras, posteriormente se hicieron dos adaptaciones a manga y una adaptación al anime estrenada en 2018 que cuenta con 12 capítulos producida por White Fox, se confirmó una segunda temporada para este año pero no se dio una fecha de estreno en concreto, también posee una película producida por el mismo estudio (De ella tratara el siguiente post jejeje). El anime cuenta con mucha acción, aventura, horror y muchísima cantidad de sangre, la historia se centra en el Goblin Slayer y nos ubica en un mundo de fantasía en el cual existen diversos monstruos y aventureros que son contratados para cazarlos mediante misiones por dinero como recompensa, los goblins son considerados muy débiles y los monstruos menos formidables pero nuestro protagonista sabe muy bien que estos no deben ser subestimados bajo ninguna circunstancia.

Se nos da información de él y de la razón de su cacería sin cuartel hacia los goblins a cuenta gotas en diferentes capítulos siendo un motivo bastante cruel y predecible a partes iguales, el hecho de que siempre piense en maneras de enfrentarlos lo ha llevado a tener una vida bastante solitaria pero llega a comprender que tener amigos es favorable en su empresa de erradicación de esas alimañas.

Como les comenté al inicio de este post, este anime nos es para cualquier fanático y es que a pesar de tener un aspecto muy típico a los Isekai u otros animes ambientados en la edad media, este Seinen tiene un enorme cantidad de gore (en serio en cantidades industriales) además de que los goblins llegan a hacer muestras brutales de cruedad a los aventureros a los que se enfrenta, pasando a más que solo violencia física, así que si en serio no están acostumbrados a este género o esperan algo un poco más Shōnen por favor eviten este anime.

Algo que particularmente me gusta mucho de este anime es que además de su tono tan maduro (ya que en serio no es un anime para niños) el desarrollo de los personajes me parece muy bueno y sobre todo saber la historia del Goblin Slayer, su motivación y la razón por la que tanto odia a los Goblins hacen que sea mucho más atractivo, además su animación está muy bien lograda y su soundtrack se encarga de llevar tanto los momentos de tensión como los momentos épicos a otro nivel, espero que sí lo han visto me dejen su opinión en los comentarios y nos veremos en otra oportunidad.

El mundo es claramente una tierra fantástica donde hay diferentes tipos de criaturas y monstruos, estos monstruos son variados, desde ghouls, gusanos comedores de tierra, limos, dragones y por supuesto goblins. Estas criaturas son detenidas por la legión de héroes, organización a la que puede ingresar todo aquel que quiera dar la vida por salvar a otros, aunque hay personas que solo quieren la fama de llamarse héroes, lo cierto es que nuestro protagonista solo quiere matar. una cosa de "duendes", ahora te preguntas ¿por qué ?, porque en el pasado su pueblo fue destruido por duendes, quienes asesinaron a su hermana, y en respuesta a eso él va en busca de venganza. Ahora, tomemos en cuenta la historia del anime, una niña se aventura en una cueva con otras personas para matar duendes porque piensan que son fáciles, pero las cosas no salen bien y termina sola viendo una masacre, hasta que nuestro héroe llega de forma épica, matando a tantos goblins como sea posible, luego ella se une a él para luchar contra los goblins, y luego otro grupo se une a él en su causa, eso es todo lo que puedo decir sin estropear, ahora aquí viene mi opinión personal.

En primer lugar, como ya sabrán los que han visto mi publicación, soy un gran amante del isekai, y Goblin Slayer tiene una muy buena idea de su mundo, con varias criaturas y monstruos que hacen que el mundo cobre vida. Los escenarios están muy bien diseñados, aunque siendo sincero a veces se siente un poco vacío pero no me quejo, tiene sentido, nadie querría salir a un mundo donde cualquier cosa puede aparecer y matarte para comerte, en ese Siento que el anime encaja muy bien con esa temática, la idea como tal no es muy original, pero la calidad que tiene en presentar los peligros es muy buena, personalmente creo que el manga es mejor, se nota mejor la desesperación de los personajes y levanta la fuerza de los personajes, yo lo veo así pero no lo sé, ¿qué te parece?

El personaje principal o héroe me parece algo genial, como dije antes, no me parece algo súper original porque su personalidad fría y tranquila ya la había visto en otros animes como berserk, sin embargo es realmente genial ver a un hombre real peleando sin miedo contra esos seres a los que nadie quiere matar, como ya sabes, los goblins no son fuertes ni nada de eso, por eso la mayoría de héroes no toman esas misiones, buscan fama y grandeza, pero él es diferente, él solo mata goblins y salva aldeas enteras Con su ingenio, porque no tiene poderes especiales, ni una espada sagrada y esas estupideces, va y mata por su propia fuerza, su espada corta le es muy útil, todo su arsenal de trampas se mezcla con su ingenio y así sobrevive, simplemente genial, eso es lo que más me gusta del personaje, además de tener un carisma introvertido, es un tipo muy cool.

En cuanto a los personajes secundarios, están muy bien definidos, este es el elfo arquero, el enano, el hombre lagarto que es una especie de nichromancer, entre otros que no luchan y otros, la verdad no quiero dar muchos detalles porque Realmente es algo que vale la pena disfrutar, mi favorito es el enano, pero todos como tal tienen mucho carisma y escenas épicas, pero cada personaje tiene un rol definido que aporta mucho al equipo, pero el anime no puede existir sin el rica y hermosa waifus 7u7, ya sabes A qué me refiero, porque en este anime hay una gran variedad de mujeres realmente hermosas, empecemos por la amiga de la infancia, ella es hermosa, tierna, lo ama mucho y se preocupa por él pero como en todo anime nuestra protagonista no da ni cuenta (en serio, ¿qué pasa con estos chicos? Ojalá tuviera esa suerte), luego tenemos a la hermosa chica de la legión de héroes, es tímida, muy linda cuando habla y usa una trenza lateral, ella es realmente hermosa, ella me s el coche de Gada para regalar las misiones, en cualquier caso no quiero extenderme con esto, hay muchas waifus de las que te enamorarás cuando las veas.

Ya culminando, tengo que decir que es un anime muy bueno, es excelente para pasar un fin de semana o verlo con tu pareja, amigo, mascota o lo que sea, sin embargo en mi opinión al anime le faltó un poco más de impacto, quizás para los que No he leído el manga me parece anime loco y que es demasiado épico y de verdad si es un anime épico pero en mi opinión el manga es mucho mejor, siento que el personaje tiene más vida en el manga que en el anime, sus gestos , problemas, desesperación, eso es algo que el manga expresa mejor que el anime, además que el arte que tiene es muy bueno, es maravilloso, te recomiendo que veas el anime primero para que lo disfrutes al máximo y luego mires el manga, para ver la gran diferencia de impacto, el anime es increíble, tenemos que admitirlo, pero si tuviera que darle una calificación sería (8/10) mientras que el manga es (10/10) este. eran todos amigos, espero que les haya gustado este post y nos vemos pronto, hasta la próxima.

Hey! I hope everything is good in your corner and you're going through your weekend with a great attitude. Today I'm uploading a sketch I did of Goblin Slayer. Any guess as to what Goblin Slayer does? Yup, you guessed it. He slays goblins. This is apparent from the very first episode of the anime. Personally, I like the anime, despite having all the terrible things that happen in it. I think that it all adds to the story and that without it, the anime wouldn't be the same. Not gonna lie, watching Goblin Slayer slay goblins is pretty awesome. I'm all for action when I watch anime.

This can be a tough anime to watch for some that aren't used to seeing large sums of blood. I'll warn you now that this anime does not hold back at all so be advised. If you've seen anime like Berserk or Tokyo Ghoul, I'll say that this anime is above those in terms of gore lol. Let me know what you think about the anime if you've seen it. I'd also like to hear your thoughts about the sketch I did.

Apenas han salido dos capítulos de esta serie que parece prometedora en esta temporada, en lo particular yo sigo el manga y sé por experiencia que es difícil meter todo el contenido del manga ni que decir de las novelas en un solo anime, hubiera sido genial que serie fuera de 24 capítulos para que alcanzara al manga hasta donde va pero hay que darle tiempo y disfrutar los 12 capítulos que nos trae esta primera temporada.

Recently finished reading the latest chapter of this story and damn that was worth the binge. Yes, that was a hint that this post was going to be about praises for the manga. The first 3 chapters was enough to hook me into the Goblin Slayer fan train. It’s damn good that it was enough to inspire me to write a review about it.

Warning: This post will contain some spoilers and dark themes that may not be appealing for the sensitive hearts. All of the images collected here are screenshots from the manga. Credits for the production goes to Kumo Kagyu (writer), Noboru Kannatsuki (illustrator), and the rest of the manga’s production staff. I review the story based on the manga alone.

Summary of the Post:

Plot
An inexperience priestess finds herself in a dire situation after having her party wiped out from a goblin ambush during a quest. She was saved by Goblin Slayer, a silver ranked adventurer that earned his fame for doing what his title exactly says. From then on, we, the audience, begin our journey admiring the Goblin Slayer through the eyes of the Priestess.

The Goblin Slayer’s obsession with eradicating goblins borders to madness and sanity. At one point, the story depicts the banes of having goblins exist in the world, thus there is a need to slay them all. However, we are given a protagonist that has reached the extremes of racial prejudice against goblins that it becomes a barrier social connections.

The plot is straightforward but can be deceptive in some way. Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy and it entails violence, nudity, and other unpleasant elements of reality most sensitive people would not be able to stomach. Without the story being labeled as “dark”, one could pass off the plot to an other fantasy where the power of unicorns and friendship was all it takes to keep evil at bay. This one lived up to the simple plot and packed several surprises fans of the dark themed stories would love to explore.

Goblin Slayer is kept alive not because of a plot armor. He remains alive in the story because he made himself capable of staying alive.

Characters
The characters in the story are fleshed out from familiar archetypes we often see in anime and manga in the beginning. It can’t be helped and this is necessary for the audience to connect to. Archetypes are there to help the audience get a feel for the character and it makes it more convenient for story writers to develop their world further with these templates. The genius of this manga lies in how it takes advantage of our over familiarity as part of highlighting each character’s personality the most.

Throughout the manga (Chapter 1-29), no unique name was ever mentioned (if there was, I missed it). Characters are referred to what they a known to do for a living. You have Goblin Slayer, Priestess, High Elf Archer, Knight, and so on and so forth. This simplifies the process of the audience relating to the character by adhering to their label in the story. I mean, would it really matter if the blacksmith’s real name is Tetsuya? Or the Priestess’ real name is Agatha White von MakingupthenameasIgoalong? Nope, more unique names would just confuse us and we wouldn’t even care given how much security a side character’s role is to the story.

Think about it for a moment, the first party the priestess was involved into had trivial back stories before they die to show that there is something 3D about their personality. But we still end up with an outcome that they would be disposed of in the story, so there’s no need to invest in time putting some unique names to it. The readers won’t be connecting with them long anyway. We could speculate that the author was just lazy to put up some names for each character. It is troublesome to create new characters only to have them meant to die. Job titles seems like a quick fix to this problem.

There are too many references from your standard RPG games in the manga and it blends in the story well. We see dwarves and elves naturally hating one another. Priestess being kind and caring. Abilities we would naturally find in whatever job class the character wears. The story takes full advantage of this over familiarity that there is less friction in connecting with the characters.

Perhaps, the only oddity well highlighted in the show is the Goblin Slayer himself. The title isn’t something you would get from any regular mmorpg. This gives the main protagonist more subtle attention. It’s the smallest details of this manga that when taken as a whole made me appreciate why it deserves the hype its getting.

The motivations that drive each character to move in the story are quite simple to understand. This simplicity is taken for granted but it glues the story together and makes the story greater than the sum of its parts. The Priestess wants to be stronger and be more useful to her comrades. The High Elf Archer wants to fulfill her duties and at the same time wants to help Goblin Slayer realize the joy of being an adventurer. Goblin Slayer just wants to kill every goblin. We see the story flow smoothly even with these different character goals in mind.

I appreciate the genius in story telling by focusing on the supporting character’s perspective to highlight the main character, Goblin Slayer. We get to know the MC through the eyes of the people surrounding him during his adventures early on. I think the Priestess is the most suitable character to help us see their world.

The Priestess started out as a Porcelain adventurer (lowest rank), young, naive, and is slowly being introduced to the world as an adventurer. We see how awesome Goblin Slayer is from her perspective based on how inexperienced she is and we are in their world. The readers were meant to put their shoes on the Priestess role. She’s human enough to connect with. Not overpowered, still learning, and has rational fears of the unknown. Whereas, it would be difficult to connect with the manga’s main hero.

I mean, I could understand why the Priestess would act like this and that in certain ways but I could not understand the logic of the Goblin Slayer in an instant if the focus was all about him. I can understand being inexperienced at a job, caring, and introspection. But I could not bring myself to say I understand what it’s like to have my entire family murdered by goblins, my elder sister turned into a sex toy until her death, or engage in fatal training to answer to an inordinate obsession. Nope, definitely too fantasy for me to connect with the main hero.

But that’s cool, because readers weren’t intended to force themselves into the main hero, that’s why the story invests some more screen time in side characters that could help us understand the main hero better.

Because beyond the action hack and slash, blood and gore, we are left to care for the character responsible for story and not a singular spectacular scene. Any character could be drawn to do something amazing but it takes a loved character to convince the reader that he is worth cheering for while he fights.

Strengths of the Manga
The line art, inking, and panelling is amazing. The art style really speaks for itself when telling the story. We see cute and ugly deserving their own highlights in the manga. Voluptuous adventurers versus fucking ugly goblins. Adventurers dressing up to their job titles.

This manga makes perfect use of contrast in the most subtle areas where readers can take for granted. Notice that when the scene involved the heroes in a dark and damp areas, the ink gets heavy whereas when they are in town, there is a lot of room for white space? Duh, this is a no brainer but has anyone noticed that the context of the conversations during danger zones and safe zones also contribute to how much dark the scene is drawn?

In town, it’s a safe zone and everything is lighter. The conversations taken up are less serious and we are left with conversations that explore the lighter sides of our characters. However, when we find our heroes venturing in dangerous places, the amount of ink is proportioned to the context. The simple change in gradients sets up the visual mood and places more emphasis on what the characters are saying during these moments.

Remember how much this manga puts more emphasis on job titles than unique individual names? It offers more room for unique characters to be inserted later on. The introduction of a job title “Goblin Slayer” opens up to more characters you usually won’t find in a regular mmorpg. Maybe we’ll get to see “Chronicler”, “Exorcist”, “Black Gunner” or something along those lines.

The relationship between Goblin Slayer and Priestess is another area fans of the manga could explore. You can say it’s more of a student master relationship from the beginning as Priestess learns more from their adventures. Or it can be platonic or romantic later on. They have the chemistry for it. One is serious, stoic, and narrow visioned while the other is a unicorn. Just your standard cold and warm partnership, used many times cause it works.

The world building in this manga is something to look forward to. Early on, the importance of rank is emphasized as you go up the food chain. Adventurers at the top are far better compensated than low ranked adventurers. This creates side conflicts in the story that add more flavor to it. We see Goblin Slayer is silver ranked and that’s already a high rank just from doing menial tasks such as goblin hunting.

Goblins are the first monsters any starting adventurer would encounter. It’s easy to underestimate their threat due to their appearances but we know by now that goblins are not something to be underestimated with. The manga is able to present a benign threat into something game changing when left alone. It also demonstrates how people easily overlook this threat and go on living as if it doesn’t exist.

Perhaps, someone at the adventurers guild recognized this threat and the hero that deals with the threat to merit Goblin Slayer the silver ranked position. Before the priestess ever met Goblin Slayer, the man has already gained fame from doing what he does best, slaying goblins, he even has bards singing over his adventures.

It is obvious that what we are seeing isn’t just a character with an obsession. We, as a reader, are shown how much a deep rooted hate can propel someone to be at the brink of madness and sanity. We know the Goblin Slayer is sane. But we also know that his obsession has driven him unsociable with others (I’m referring to his inability to connect with people outside the farm he lives in). This isn’t a healthy lifestyle but it is how he copes. It is interesting to see how he develops further as a protagonists. I am seeing his new friendship will be his salvation from his internal pains.

Things to Improve on
Though the focus isn’t entirely on the action scenes, I would definitely want to see more panels dedicated to a well choreographed battle once in a while. The quick still shots of enemies being hacked or destroyed are good for showcasing a character’s ability to end the fight early. But it’s the process that gives an action more dimension and satisfaction once executed in the simple scene of hack and slash.

I can see why this manga is dark but I couldn’t help but feel a lot of it is being tamed. Yes, we get to see gore, rape, and several instances of violence but the impacts are quickly brushed off in the narrative and diverted straight to the action scenes or other conversations also important to the story. In the beginning we see the Priestess commenting about how women rescued from the goblins end up living miserable lives (hinting of PTSD). These are brief moments that are actually bombshells of feels when fully explored.

The Goblin Raids remind me of the Rape of Nanjing, Rwandan Rape, and War Crimes. Survivors would either go insane, get rejected by their families, or live under the protection of the temple because they have no where else to go. If the manga does explore these realities than showcasing more action, the dark fantasy genre takes on a serious turn to being a reflection of our reality. But that’s not what we really want as a reader right? It’s best not to focus on those matters because we’d get less fans to stomach the story.

Conclusion
There are many ways to view the manga as a reader. You can either take it lightly and appreciate what the dark fantasy genre offers or you can start asking the real questions of what the goblins really represent. I recall one conversation by the campfire by our heroes mentioning goblins are born from the failures. If that were true, maybe the origin of goblins are brought by failures of humans as race and goblins tend to be the metaphor brought to life to haunt their world.

9/10 would recommend you giving it a read.

As you know by know i tend to write a lot of anime reviews but the majority of them has one thing in common. I am writing them after i watch the entire anime or at least 3-5 episodes in order to have a better point of view. This time though by just watching the first episode i think i really can tell where this anime is headed!

General Info That Nobody Cares But Should!

Goblin Slayer came out at October 7 2018 so as you can imagine only the first episode is out! The liceoncor behind it is Funimation and the studio is called White Fox! White Fox studio is known for anime like Akame ga Kill, Steins;Gate and Re:Zero Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu so expect only great things!

The genres of the anime or tags (name it as you like) are action and fantasy but oh god it's so much more! In a way it's a category of it's own! Also the number of total episodes is not yet known but i speculate it will be around 10-12. Finally, the anime is originated from a Light Novel which later become a manga too.

Plot

The world in this anime is similar to that of an MMORPG online game. It is very common for the people to enroll in guilds, becoming adventurers, doing quests and fight monsters for rewards. Thus, we have a young priestess that just join a guild and informed about the quest and the ranking system.

Soon enough a group of 3 people invite her to join their party as they need one more person in order to go to a nearby cave and kill some goblins. The other adventurers are the same rank as the priestess so seem a little worry but they tell her that everything is alright as they even have a mage in their party.

The group is consisting of 4 people, 1 boy and 3 girls. The boy using his sword to attack, one of the girl her martial arts, the other one fire magic attacks and the priestess uses healing spells. Soon enough they find themselves in the cave with the 2 main fighter of the group to be in front and the other 2 in back as natural.

Here is the interesting part. In the majority of the anime you will expect to see the goblins up front and the human protagonists to completely obliterate them but the author made it a little bit more realistic and hardcore. The goblins have set a trap and suddenly come up from the back and attack the mage.

While the magician manages to kill one they simply take her magic ward and stab a knife in her belly. When the other 2 realize what's going on they run to help their team killing a couple of goblins, but soon a bunch of them literally stab him all over while a hobgoblin (a stronger and taller goblin) stops the martial arts girl.

What happens then isn't another killing but all the goblins are gathered and rape the poor girl(How cruel). The priestess run to save her life while surrounded by 2 goblins and piss herself from the fear. Then a man in armor comes out of nowhere and start brutally killing them.

Long Story short he kills all the goblin with different methods and when he finds the nest that the rape girl is, he also finds some goblin newborns. What he does is brutally killing them to cut the issue from the root while the priestess cry as she now sees and understands the true cruelty of the world.

Is It Worth Watching?

If you like dark style anime with extremely brutal and gore scenes then this anime is the perfect for you. Don't expect to see much of the characters backstory as they die soon :P. Also, don't expect to see what you see in every other anime were the power of friendships, the power of love etc etc beats everything. The author tries to show a realistic point of view to a mmorpg world that everyone imaging as a paradise!

The animation is pretty good too with only a tiny bit of CGI that wasn't but at all. Also i went to check the correspondingly chapters of the manga in order to find out if they skipped some of the gore scenes in the anime. They didn't skip a thing!

Rating 9.5/10

The New Anime Season is on and that means that i am gonna spent a considerable amount of time watching then on my PC and sitting on my throne!

Synopsis

In a fantasy world of swords and magic, where demons and wars plague the lands, where the people are awaiting a grand hero to give them salvation, who will answer their call? Certainly not this man, he's off killing goblins again.

Fight Ye Not Monsters

Would you become a monster in order to fight a monster? Is it wrong to gaze into the abyss fully aware that it will gaze back? A question well illustrated in the hit manga series written by Kagyu Kumo, "Goblin Slayer". This story presents an absolutely grueling tale of tragedy and suffering that takes the expectations of a hero's journey and smashes it into the dark swamp of reality.

It Takes One to Know One

At first glance, Goblin Slayer is actually quite the simplistically boring character. He has a completely one-track mind about his goals in life, that being killing goblins and nothing else. Every single action, decision, or notion by him will find itself relating to the subject of goblin slaying. He has no reaction to sneers and criticism by his fellow adventurers nor threats of world destruction.

The thing is that when Goblin Slayer starts his journey, he has no purpose beyond killing goblins. Everything he had was already destroyed, so he has nothing to protect anymore. His vengeance is his sole driving motivation. That lust to make other living beings suffer isn't that far from the existence of the standard goblin. Goblin Slayer is fully self-aware of his problems, but he simultaneously can't give up because him being that "goblin" has become so necessary to the survival of villages everywhere.

Goblin Slaying Party

At the start of the story, Goblin Slayer saves a young priestess from a horde of goblins and she then watches him systematically dismantle the nest in the most efficient way possible. He doesn't even spare the helpless baby goblins because he knows what vengeful children like them can become. This experience was not what Priestess expected the start of her adventuring life to be like, but she also just witnessed her entire party get slaughtered and defiled by the goblins just as mercilessly.

Given that continuing to fight with Goblin Slayer would certainly only mean experiencing more horrifying madness, it seems strange that she opts to form a party with him. She states that she wants to continue testing her faith in "the Earth Mother", but I think she has a fascination with Goblin Slayer specifically. Is there actually no place for the stalwart, heroic adventurer in this world? Is that ideal just mere fantasy?

But at the same time, being the Goblin Slayer proves to be a painfully lonesome occupation. There is no fame or wealth, only the satisfaction from ending lives. I think Priestess wants to act as a pillar of humanity for him. Maybe she can be her own self-fulfilling prophecy.

Gore and Violence as Far as the Eye Can See

There are a lot of words that could describe the art design of Goblin Slayer. Vivid. Disgusting. Brutal. Every goblin's death is gruesome and savage to the point of absurdity. Blood and guts spew out of them constantly, gore and fat coats the swords once they slice through them, and they scream and struggle to survive to the very end.

This art style has the function of just looking good. It presents the story comprehensively so that you understand what is happening every step of the way. But at the same time, it also brings out that inner sadist in you. You know that those goblins are "bad guys", so there's no moral consequence to enjoying their suffering. So as you watch, you look forward to goblin skulls getting shattered and their eyeballs popping out of their sockets.

I think the art needed to be graphic and vile because, in a way, it forces the viewer down the same arc as Goblin Slayer himself. Do you begin to enjoy the slaughter too much? What reason do we want them dead again? Wasn't it to save the villagers? Are we just killing for sport now?

Conclusion

Believe me when I say that I'd love to recommend this to everyone, but I can't really do that. First of all, it's NSFW of the highest regard as far as I'm concerned. Secondly, if you don't want to see implications of rape, then steer clear. The women of this story are ravaged and abused on several occasions. And thirdly, if you don't connect with Goblin Slayer's story, then he might get annoying with how he literally only cares about goblins.

But besides that, I think Goblin Slayer is a brilliant take on the generic fantasy story. If you want some dark, cruel violence with some interesting characters and strong world-building, then check it out.
