1. ›(ENG/ESP) Gossip girl (2021): A fan review.@andr3apat1no1807d

   Whether you liked it or not the original Gossip girl, was one of the biggest series of the '10 decade. The teenagers were mad about it, the parents hated it, the high-fashion brands wanted to show their products there and everyone DIED to know who was she. I was SUPER excited when i heard the news about the reboot because it's one of my favorite series, it's one of my comfort series too. One of the things that i found awesome when the trailer aired is that Kristen Bell who voiced the original GG was going to be on the show and it was going to be produced by the producers and creators of the original, as well.

   A few days ago when the pilot aired i was a bit shock. From a very beginning i knew that we wouldn't get the original cast but I didn't think it was going to be this bad, here it's a little review:

   The show sits 8 years after the final chapter of the original serie, all our main cast go to the very-known schools of Constance and St. Jude. We get our IT girl which is Julien Calloway and her friend/antagonist which is also her sister Zoya , of course, we get the minions: Savannah and Luna. Our super rich and "self-aware" boy: Obie and our playboy: Max and there's two caracters i can't relate to the original cast which are Aki and Audrey.

   What I did like

   The serie fulfills the standars of opulence of the original and it show us the Newyorker atmosphere, it also serves awesome style and fashion classes. The soundtrack is very good too, a bit different, because it reflects what we hear now, more rap instead of house or techno music. The serie is also very well produced, the photograhy is nice.

   What i didn't like

   Almost everything. I REALLY wanted to like this reboot, maybe with more chapters it will get better but i don't know, right now for me it's a mess.

   SPOILER ALERT

   First of all, we get to know who gossip girl is from the very beginning, that doesn't bother me but how what's bother me it's how was developt and the motives who led this people to do it. Gossip girl are the teachers and they do it because they're tired of the teenagers misbehaviours and attitudes, why on earth would teachers do that?.

   Second, we don't get as much as paternal pressence as in the original and i think this is something that was determinant for the show, GG would never be what it is without Lily or Rufus or even creepy old Bart Bass, maybe in further chapters we'll get that, who knows.

   Third, the IT girl sort of thing, feels forced. There was anything about Blake Lively that make this super natural, maybe there's something about how they styled Julien, that street style doesn't work for me.

   Fourth, they sort of control GG actions. The idea of the whole show is how GG messes up with their life, who come that this kids can control what she does?

   Fifth, i know the creators said they wanted a more inclusive and queer serie, but it also feels a bit forced.

   I wish I had better things to say, but i just can't. As i said before i didn't expect to be the same as the original BUT it doesn't seem like a good sequel/reboot of Gossip girl. That's it for today, thanks for coming this far. Bye!

   Te guste o no la Gossip girl original, fue una de las series más importantes de la década del '10. Los adolescentes estaban locos por ella, los padres la odiaban, las marcas de alta costura querían mostrar sus productos allí y todo el mundo MORÍA por saber quién era ella. Estaba SUPER emocionada cuando me enteré de la noticia del reboot porque es una de mis series favoritas, es una de mis series de confort también. Una de las cosas que me pareció increíble cuando se emitió el tráiler es que Kristen Bell, que ponía la voz a la GG original, iba a estar en la serie y que ésta iba a ser producida por los productores y creadores de la original, también.

   Hace unos días, cuando se emitió el piloto, me quedé un poco sorprendido. Desde un principio supe que no tendríamos al elenco original pero no pensé que iba a ser tan malo, aquí va una pequeña reseña:

   La serie se sitúa 8 años después del capítulo final de la serie original, todo nuestro elenco principal va a las escuelas muy conocidas de Constance y St. Tenemos a nuestra IT girl que es Julien Calloway y a su amiga/antagonista que también es su hermana Zoya , por supuesto, tenemos a las minions: Savannah y Luna. Nuestro chico súper rico y "autoconsciente": Obie y nuestro playboy: Max y hay dos personajes que no puedo relacionar con el reparto original que son Aki y Audrey.

   Lo que sí me ha gustado

   La serie cumple con los estándares de opulencia del original y nos muestra el ambiente neoyorquino, también sirve para dar clases de estilo y moda. La banda sonora es muy buena también, un poco diferente, porque refleja lo que escuchamos ahora, más rap en lugar de música house o techno. La serie también está muy bien producida, la fotografía es bonita.

   Lo que no me gustó

   Casi todo. REALMENTE quería que me gustara este reinicio, quizás con más capítulos mejore pero no sé, ahora mismo para mí es un desastre.

   ALERTA DE SPOILER

   En primer lugar, desde el principio se sabe quién es Gossip Girl, eso no me molesta pero lo que sí me molesta es cómo se desarrolla y los motivos que llevan a esta gente a hacerlo. Gossip girl son los profesores y lo hacen porque están cansados de los malos comportamientos y actitudes de los adolescentes, ¿por qué demonios harían eso los profesores?

   En segundo lugar, no tenemos tanta presión paternal como en el original y creo que esto es algo que fue determinante para la serie, GG nunca sería lo que es sin Lily o Rufus o incluso el viejo y espeluznante Bart Bass, tal vez en los próximos capítulos tengamos eso, quién sabe.

   Tercero, lo de la especie de IT girl, se siente forzado. No había nada en Blake Lively que hiciera esto súper natural, tal vez hay algo en cómo estilizaron a Julien, ese estilo callejero no me funciona.

   En cuarto lugar, como que controlan las acciones de GG. La idea de toda la serie es como GG se lía con su vida, ¿a quién se le ocurre que estos chicos puedan controlar lo que hace?

   Quinto, sé que los creadores dijeron que querían una serie más inclusiva y queer, pero también se siente un poco forzado.

   Me gustaría tener mejores cosas que decir, pero no puedo. Como dije antes no esperaba que fuera igual que la original PERO no me parece una buena secuela/reboot de Gossip girl. Eso es todo por hoy, gracias por llegar hasta aquí. Adiós!

   I have been closely following the recent reboot of Gossip Girl, for those who are unaware, Gossip Girl was a 2007 series produced by The CW that started a whole wave of "teen drama" although as a teenager it was little, it was followed story of a group of privileged young people who have just finished high school and begin to be stalked by “gossip girl” a blogger who at the same time fulfills the role of omniscient storyteller.

   

   Although honestly it is not to my liking and I have barely seen a couple of episodes the impact it has had on popular culture is undeniable, series like Riverdale or Elite drink to a greater or lesser extent of their influence and that is something absolutely respectable.

   The reason why despite my lack of interest in the original series I have been attracted to the new adaptation of Gossip Girl (This time exclusive to the HBO Max platform and that serves as a soft reboot and sequel) is because I see in it a good opportunity to tell a story that serves as a meta-commentary on previous events and adds substance to the panorama of adolescent series that we have now.

   

   The result after having released two episodes is mediocre at best, since although Gossip Girl delivers a great production in technical terms, it leaves much to be desired in the plot section, a problem that extends to many of the performances and dialogues that they blur every scene.

   I am not sure if it will be a generational issue, I am not exactly an old man and it is very difficult for me to connect with the conflicts that are presented here, far from being a hedonistic representation of North American elitism (something that sometimes does and sometimes not) is more a pretentious portrait of headless youth conflicts.

   

   Although the first chapter has several attractive aspects, things quickly fall apart when its continuation begins, the series hardly manages to maintain its own development.

   The plot of the "Gossip Girl" does not finish curdling either, it gets too involved in not repeating the formula of the original series but failed to justify it properly.

   

   The casting fulfills the task and a good portion of characters have interesting personalities, unfortunately those more central (Like Jullien) pale before the most secondary.

   I will continue to give it a try because I feel that there is potential and it also has the visually great moments of it, for everything else it leaves to be desired.

   He estado siguiendo de cerca el reciente reboot de Gossip Girl, para aquellos que la desconocen, Gossip Girl fue un serie de 2007 producido por The CW que dio inicio a toda una ola de “teen drama” aunque de adolescente tenga poco, se seguía la historia de un grupo de jóvenes privilegiados que acaban de terminar la secundaria y empiezan a ser acechados por “gossip girl” una bloguera que al mismo tiempo cumple el rol de narradora omnisciente.

   

   Aunque honestamente no es de mi agrado y apenas he visto un par de episodios es innegable el impacto que ha tenido en la cultura popular, series como Riverdale o Elite beben en mayor o menor medida de su influencia y eso es algo absolutamente respetable.

   La razón por la que a pesar de mi falta de interés en la serie original me he sentido atraído por la nueva adaptación de Gossip Girl (Está vez exclusiva de la plataforma HBO Max y que sirve de soft reboot y secuela) es porque veo en ella una buena oportunidad para contar una historia que sirva como meta-comentario a los eventos previos y aporte una sustancia al panorama de series adolescentes que tenemos ahora.

   

   El resultado luego de haberse estrenado dos episodios es en el mejor de los casos mediocre, ya que aunque Gossip Girl entrega una genial producción en términos técnicos deja mucho que desear en el apartado argumental, problema que se extiende a muchas de las actuaciones y diálogos que empañan cada escena.

   No estoy seguro de si será una cuestión generacional, no soy un viejo precisamente y me cuesta muchísimo conectar con los conflictos que aquí se presentan, lejos de ser una hedonista representación al elitismo norteamericano (Cosa que logra a veces si y a veces no) es más un pretencioso retrato de conflictos juveniles sin pies ni cabeza.

   

   Aunque el primer capítulo tiene varios aspectos atractivos las cosas no tardan en derrumbarse cuando empieza su continuación, la serie difícilmente logra mantener su propio desarrollo.

   La trama de la “Gossip Girl” tampoco termina de cuajar, se enfrasca demasiado en no repetir la fórmula de la serie original pero fracasada en justificarla apropiadamente.

   

   El casting cumple con el cometido y una buena porción de personajes tienen personalidad interesantes, lastimosamente aquellos más céntrales (Como Jullien) palidecen ante los más secundarios.

   Seguiré dándole una oportunidad porque siento qué hay potencial y también tiene sus momentos visualmente geniales, para todo lo demás deja que desear.

   Si de series ¨para adolescentes¨ hay que hablar, es imposible no mencionar Gossip Girl, seguramente, si entablas una conversación al respecto, escucharás nombres como: Pretty little liars, Sex and the city, The vampire diaries, y por supuesto, Gossip Girl... Gossip girl fue un drama adolescente basado en las novelas de Cecily von Ziegesar, estrenado en el 2007, posicionándose como una de las series más aclamadas de la ultima década.

   Honestamente, cuando estaba en emisión tan solo tenia 9 años, por lo que quizás, no llamó mucho mi atención, para mi en ese momento floricienta seguía siendo lo mejor del mundo jajaja pero luego, al crecer, tuve la oportunidad de comenzar a verla desde su inicio, y quedé encantada, los personajes, las historias, la muy buena producción, todo llamó mi atención.

   Honestly, when it was on air I was only 9 years old, so perhaps it did not attract my attention much, for me at that time floricienta was still the best in the world hahaha but then, growing up, I had the opportunity to start watching it from its beginning, and I was delighted, the characters, the stories, the very good production, everything caught my attention.

   

   Algunas personas creen que Gossip girl es solo una serie basada en la vida de niños ricos e inmaduros pertenecientes a poderosas elites, que hacen desastres mientras van creciendo y escapan de los problemas solo por ser bonitos, pero realmente, en lo que comienzas a ver la serie y tratas de entender, te das cuenta de que esta serie trata temas súper importantes como lo son la importancia de la toma de decisiones, el hacerse cargo de las consecuencias de nuestras acciones, la autonomía e independencia, la felicidad propia y el cumplimiento de nuestros sueños.

   Some people believe that Gossip girl is just a series based on the lives of rich and immature children belonging to powerful elites, who make disasters while they grow up and escape from problems just to be pretty, but really, in what you start to see the series and you try to understand, you realize that this series deals with super important topics such as the importance of decision-making, taking charge of the consequences of our actions, autonomy and independence, own happiness and the fulfillment of Our dreams.

   

   Gossip Girl consta de 6 increíbles temporadas, cada una con mas drama que la anterior, aquí de seguro de encariñas con algún personaje, en lo personal, amo a Blair Waldorf, su personaje es simplemente único y siento que es la esencia de Gossip Girl, para Blair el destino no existe, el destino es una "excusa estúpida", no tendríamos que esperar que las cosas pasen, tenemos que hacer que pasen, actuar, movernos. Luchar por eso que deseamos y no detenernos hasta conseguirlo. Eso amigos es pura determinación.

   Nuestra Queen B puede ser mala cuando quiere, pero si hay algo con que nos enseño su personaje en Gossip Girl es que nadie puede jugar con nosotras, saber valorarnos es la muestra más grande de amor.

   Gossip Girl consists of 6 incredible seasons, each one with more drama than the last, here I am sure of affection with some character, personally, I love Blair Waldorf, her character is simply unique and I feel that she is the essence of Gossip Girl, For Blair fate does not exist, fate is a "stupid excuse", we should not wait for things to happen, we have to make them happen, act, move. Fight for what we want and not stop until we get it. That folks is pure determination.

   Our Queen B can be bad when she wants to, but if there is something that her character in Gossip Girl taught us with, it is that nobody can play with us, knowing how to value us is the greatest sample of love.

   

   Otra de las lecciones que nos deja GG es que no somos rocas, podemos movernos y cambiar si estamos en un lugar que no nos gusta o no nos hace sentir bien, ¿Por qué quedarnos donde no estamos bien?, irnos siempre será una buena opción si es para encontrar nuestra verdadera felicidad.

   Another lesson that GG leaves us is that we are not rocks, we can move and change if we are in a place that we do not like or does not make us feel good, why stay where we are not well?, Leaving will always be a good option if it is to find our true happiness.

   

   Gossip girl es una cajita de sorpresas, es realmente entretenida, y sin duda, terminarás adoptando alguno que otro truco o consejo.
