Halloween es el film slasher por excelencia, una historia de terror, violenta y directa, sin orígenes, explicaciones ni motivos y justamente es eso lo que la hace diferente y difícil de repetir; Michael Myers es un personaje icónico, uno de los mejores villanos en el mundo del cine, influyente como lo es el film en sí; en esta historia, él considerado como la representación de la maldad, un asesino sin un motivo, solo un impulso que ocasiona terror por dónde pasa; no tengo duda de que está idea de John Carpenter y Debra Hill en la creación de este personaje fue una bendición para su film estrenado en 1978 y una maldición para todas las secuelas y remakes que se han hecho y es que dar un motivo a "Michael" es lo que en mi opinión afectó enormemente a esta franquicia porque le restó la mística a un gran personaje.

Halloween is the slasher film par excellence, a horror story, violent and direct, without origins, explanations or motives and that is precisely what makes it different and difficult to repeat; Michael Myers is an iconic character, one of the best villains in the world of cinema, influential as is the film itself; in this story, he is considered as the representation of evil, a murderer without a motive, just an impulse that causes terror wherever he goes; I have no doubt that this idea of John Carpenter and Debra Hill in the creation of this character was a blessing for his film released in 1978 and a curse for all the sequels and remakes that have been made and is that giving a reason to "Michael" is what in my opinion greatly affected this franchise because it subtracted the mystique to a great character.
En 2018 se estrenó el film considerado como reinicio y secuela uno de los films más influyentes dentro del género de terror; este nuevo film conocido como simplemente "Halloween" trajo de vuelta a dos personajes icónicos en el cine; al gran "Michael Myers" y a la primera Final Girl, "Laurie Strode"; esta nueva historia a pesar desarrollarse 40 años después es una secuela directa de la que dirigió y co-escribió John Carpenter y borra toda secuela (y por supuesto remake) que se ha realizado en años atrás; esto sin ninguna duda fue lo que más me atrajo de este nuevo film porque pienso que fue una de las mejores ideas que le sucedió a esta franquicia; mi sorpresa fue que está historia no cerraría con un solo film, sino que contaría otros dos más e inevitablemente eso me generó muchas expectativas, ya que tenía más oportunidad de ver a dos de mis personajes favoritos en el mundo del cine; su secuela conocida como "Halloween Kills", secuela directa, homenajeando la secuela de 1981, siguió mostrando una noche de Halloween fatídica que terminó con muchas más muertes y nada de justicia; un final abierto que nos lleva a lo que veremos en el desenlace conocido como "Halloween Ends"; tres años han pasado de otro lamentable suceso en pequeño pueblo de Haddonfield, un pueblo que no consigue curara del trauma casado por los números asesinatos hechos por Michael Myers y que siempre está en búsqueda de señalar y hacer justicia contra quien pueda considerarse como un monstruo, pero no todas las personas han recurrido a ese camino, las sobrevivientes, "Laurie Strode" y su nieta "Allyson Nelson" decidieron comenzar una nueva vida lejos del trauma causado por Myers, pero al estar cada vez más cerca de celebrar otro Halloween, la memoria de un lugar infectado por la maldad se hace cada vez más evidente, despertando a quien estuvo alejado por mucho tiempo porque la maldad siempre está cerca acechando, cambiando de forma para volver a atacar.
In 2018 was released the film considered as a reboot and sequel one of the most influential films within the horror genre; this new film known as simply "Halloween" brought back two iconic characters in cinema; the great "Michael Myers" and the first Final Girl, "Laurie Strode"; this new story despite being developed 40 years later is a direct sequel to the one directed and co-written by John Carpenter and erases every sequel (and of course remake) that has been made in years before; this without any doubt was what attracted me the most of this new film because I think it was one of the best ideas that happened to this franchise; my surprise was that this story would not close with only one film, but it would tell two more and inevitably that generated me a lot of expectations, since I had more opportunity to see two of my favorite characters in the world of cinema; its sequel known as "Halloween Kills", a direct sequel, paying homage to the 1981 sequel, continued to show a fateful Halloween night that ended with many more deaths and no justice; an open ending that leads us to what we will see in the denouement known as "Halloween Ends "; three years have passed since another unfortunate event in the small town of Haddonfield, a town that can not heal from the trauma caused by the number of murders committed by Michael Myers and is always looking to point out and do justice against anyone who can be considered a monster, but not all people have resorted to that path, the survivors, "Laurie Strode" and her granddaughter "Allyson Nelson" decided to start a new life away from the trauma caused by Myers, but being closer and closer to celebrate another Halloween, the memory of a place infected by evil becomes more and more evident, awakening who was away for a long time because evil is always nearby lurking, changing shape to attack again.
Después del estreno y las críticas negativas que tuvo "Halloween Kills", tanto Jamie Lee Curtis como el director de los tres films, David Gordon Green, anunciaron que el cierre de esta trilogía sería igual o tal vez más controversial de lo que fue la segunda parte; desde primer momento sé que los tres films son historias relatadas desde punto de vista de Laurie Strode y es que en todos estos films dirigidos y co-escritos por Green, observamos lo devastado que está este personaje y el lugar donde vive, todo por las muertes ocasionadas por Michael; la influencia negativa de un asesino ensombreció a todo un lugar y nunca se liberaron de lo que puede considerarse como una maldición y nunca tuve dudas de que esto era lo que quería relatar Green y Danny McBride en su historia que no está enfocada en demostrar el motivo que active a Myers a asesinar; la historia creada por ambos guionista era demostrar la influencia que tiene una imagen real de la maldad sobre todo lo demás, posiblemente una crítica a la sociedad que parece siempre tener un gran apetito por lamentables sucesos, sus víctimas y victimarios y en este film en especial veremos todo eso, aunque lo que me atrae de este tema después de ver el film es que no todos superan un horrible trauma, no todos pueden pensar en dejar el pasado atrás, no todos pueden olvidar y seguir adelante y ese es el tema principal en esta historia que está más que nunca enfocada en los sobrevivientes de ese fatídico Halloween y en otra representación del mal en esa festividad.
Este film tiene una duración de dos horas, las cuales divido en un acto de introducción para mostrar la actualidad de las protagonistas y dar introducción a los nuevos personajes, el segundo y tercer acto son cortos, pero efectivos, el ritmo es rápido, constante y puedo decir que es hasta perfecto porque encaja en el género que pertenece está historia; se puede criticar a Green en ser ambicioso en querer hacer algo diferente, pero creo que al ser un fan de esta franquicia usa mucho el homenaje a otras películas de Halloween y hasta muestra algo que en mi opinión elimina el mito de la omnipresencia del asesino en diferentes lugares y eso me pareció genial. Hay críticas que pueden ser aceptadas porque este film no es perfecto, pero a causa del constante homenaje o la influencia dentro de la franquicia y otros films, no me puedo quejar de la manera de dirigir de Green, las escenas tanto del comienzo, como del enfrentamiento final, son lo mejor de esta tercera y última parte.
After the release and the negative reviews that "Halloween Kills" received, both Jamie Lee Curtis and the director of the three films, David Gordon Green, announced that the closing of this trilogy would be equally or perhaps even more controversial than the second part; From the first moment I know that the three films are stories told from Laurie Strode's point of view, and in all these films directed and co-written by Green, we observe how devastated this character is and the place where she lives, all because of the deaths caused by Michael; the negative influence of a murderer overshadowed a whole place and they were never freed from what can be considered a curse and I never had any doubt that this is what Green and Danny McBride wanted to tell in their story that is not focused on showing the motive that triggers Myers to murder; the story created by both screenwriters was to demonstrate the influence that a real image of evil has on everything else, possibly a critique of society that seems to always have a great appetite for unfortunate events, their victims and victimizers and in this particular film we will see all of that, although what appeals to me about this theme after watching the film is that not everyone gets over a horrible trauma, not everyone can think about leaving the past behind, not everyone can forget and move on and that is the main theme in this story which is more than ever focused on the survivors of that fateful Halloween and another representation of evil in that holiday.

This film has a duration of two hours, which I divide into an introductory act to show the current events of the protagonists and give introduction to the new characters, the second and third acts are short, but effective, the pace is fast, steady and I can say that it is even perfect because it fits the genre that belongs to this story; you can criticize Green for being ambitious in wanting to do something different, but I think being a fan of this franchise it uses a lot of homage to other Halloween movies and even shows something that in my opinion eliminates the myth of the omnipresence of the killer in different places and I thought that was great. There are criticisms that can be accepted because this film is not perfect, but because of the constant homage or influence within the franchise and other films, I can not complain about the way of directing Green, the scenes of both the beginning and the final confrontation, are the best of this third and final part.
Uno de los problemas que tuve con "Ends" fue la actuación de alguno de sus actores, preferiblemente de Andi Matichak y Rohan Campbell, ellos interpretan a "Allyson Nelson" y "Corey Cunningham"; Andie interpreta una versión adulta de Allyson, personalmente sentí que su personaje es muy diferente a lo que era en las dos anteriores películas y sé que parte de ese cambio es por perder a sus padres en una sola noche; ella ha avanzado gracias al apoyo que recibe de su abuela y que la vez ella también brinda porque al final, ambas son sobrevivientes, ellas tienen otra oportunidad aunque no tienen una felicidad plena, en este momento no hay nada malo en el trabajo de esta actriz, pero al compartir escena con Rohan todo cambia; no hay química entre ambos y todo se ve muy forzado, no importa que pueden tener en común ambos personajes porque el tiempo en cámara de ambos no es creíble y siendo sincero es muy mal actuado, en especial por parte de Rohan lo cual todo lo que hace es sobreactuado y eso afecta a la historia, parece una novela de TV, una sátira, obra escolar; no me gustó para nada su interpretación y molesta porque su personaje es sumamente importante en esta historia. Sobre el trabajo de Jamie Lee Curtis, es perfecta como "Laurie" nunca ha desentonado en ninguna de sus interpretaciones de este personaje, ni siquiera en "Halloween Resurrection" que es la peor película en toda la franquicia; en este cierre lo hace bien, demuestra sonrisa y esperanza de vivir y no veía eso de este personaje desde el film del 78' y eso es muy bueno, pero la experiencia, el constante trauma la hace tener miedo y estar atenta a la vez, con ganas de hacer justicia y de terminar con todo a la vez; eso transmite la primera Final Girl y me pareció excelente.
One of the problems I had with "Ends" was the acting of some of its actors, preferably Andi Matichak and Rohan Campbell, they play "Allyson Nelson" and "Corey Cunningham"; Andie plays an adult version of Allyson, I personally felt that her character is very different from what she was in the two previous movies and I know that part of that change is because of losing her parents in one night; she has moved forward thanks to the support she receives from her grandmother and that she also provides because in the end, both are survivors, they have another chance although they don't have a full happiness, at this moment there is nothing wrong with the work of this actress, but when sharing scene with Rohan everything changes; there is no chemistry between both and everything looks very forced, it doesn't matter what both characters may have in common because the time on camera of both is not credible and to be honest it is very badly acted, especially by Rohan which everything she does is overacted and that affects the story, it looks like a TV soap opera, a satire, school play; I didn't like her interpretation at all and it bothers because her character is extremely important in this story. About the work of Jamie Lee Curtis, she is perfect as "Laurie" she has never been out of tune in any of her interpretations of this character, not even in "Halloween Resurrection" which is the worst movie in the whole franchise; In this closing she does it well, she shows smile and hope to live and I haven't seen that from this character since the 78' film and that's very good, but the experience, the constant trauma makes her be afraid and attentive at the same time, wanting to do justice and to end everything at the same time; that's what the first Final Girl transmits and I thought it was excellent.
Si comparo mis expectativas de Halloween (2018) con Halloween Ends, seguramente el primer film de la trilogía tiene una gran ventaja y me alegra que esa película mostró lo que quería ver en un nuevo film sobre "The Shape" o "The Boogeyman", me sentí complacido y con ganas de ver más y aunque "Kills" posiblemente no estuvo a la altura por alguna que otra escena que en mi opinión sobra, debo decir que apruebo (en mi opinión de fan) la decisión sobre cómo enfocar está historia entre Michael Myers y la comunidad Haddonfield; ahora con esto no diré que tenía cero o pocas expectativas sobre este cierre porque pienso que eso era imposible y lamento que por actuaciones de alguno de sus protagonistas y decisiones en el guion en el último acto, no creo que este sea el mejor film dentro de esta trilogía; sé que lo que vemos en "Ends" era algo imposible de evitar en esta historia por como se ha relatado era evidente que la maldad es algo que nos rodea en dónde podemos evitarla o terminar infectados y este último puede ser más factible cuando existe el miedo y odio; en esta parte de la historia es lo que me ha gustado el film, sus creadores fueron fieles a eso en vez de buscar algo que no debería tener respuesta como es el motivo que tiene Myers para matar; en son considero que la historia completa es perfecta, el problema en esta película es la ejecución y mi crítica negativa es el tiempo excesivo que dan a eso con malas actuaciones y después de un tercer y último acto muy apresurado dónde suceden cosas que algunos consideraran inentendible; por eso que es esta tercera película la considero la más floja de las tres y lamento que sea así porque pudo ser mejor y es que hubiera funcionado mejor si el personaje de Corey le hacen una introducción en el anterior film o se hubiera cumplido el plan de estrenar ambas películas con una separación de semanas como debió ocurrir el pasado año, tal vez ver Halloween Kills y Ends juntos se entendería mejor la idea de Green. Esta fue la última película producida por "Blumhouse Productions" seguramente en algunos años veremos un reinicio de esta historia y por declaraciones hechas por el mismo Carpenter, que se hagan las secuelas que quieran porque lo importante serán los cheques que deberán pagarle.
If I compare my expectations of Halloween (2018) with Halloween Ends, surely the first film of the trilogy has a big advantage and I'm glad that film showed what I wanted to see in a new film about "The Shape" or "The Boogeyman", I was pleased and looking forward to see more and although "Kills" was possibly not up to par for some scene that in my opinion is left over, I must say that I approve (in my fan opinion) the decision on how to approach this story between Michael Myers and the Haddonfield community; now with this I will not say that I had zero or low expectations about this closure because I think that was impossible and I regret that for performances of some of its protagonists and decisions in the script in the last act, I do not think this is the best film in this trilogy; I know that what we see in "Ends" was something impossible to avoid in this story by how it has been told was evident that evil is something that surrounds us where we can avoid it or end up infected and the latter may be more feasible when there is fear and hatred; in this part of the story is what I liked the film, its creators were faithful to that instead of looking for something that should not have an answer as is the reason that Myers has to kill; in are I consider that the whole story is perfect, the problem in this film is the execution and my negative criticism is the excessive time given to that with bad performances and after a third and last act very hurried where things happen that some will consider unintelligible; that's why I consider this third film the weakest of the three and I regret it because it could have been better and it would have worked better if Corey's character was introduced in the previous film or if the plan of releasing both films a few weeks apart as it should have happened last year had been fulfilled, maybe seeing Halloween Kills and Ends together would be better understood the idea of Green. This was the last film produced by "Blumhouse Productions" surely in a few years we will see a reboot of this story and according to statements made by Carpenter himself, let them make as many sequels as they want because the important thing will be the checks they will have to pay him.
