Bueno, no podía faltar la reseña de una de las películas no se si de las más esperadas del año pero si una que definitivamente le pone un fin a una era de terror, tormento y miedo que comenzó hace unas décadas atrás. La historia de Michael Myers o bueno el personaje como tal tiene una infinidad de fanáticos que a lo largo de los años han rendido "culto" a una de las sagas más importantes del terror y del cine slasher pero que este mes llegó a su final. Ahora, es un final digno?, la película vale realmente la pena?, es tan terrible como se ha cansado la gente de decir? - dos de esas preguntas son afirmativas y la otra evidentemente no lo es.

Well, I could not miss the review of one of the most anticipated films of the year but one that definitely puts an end to an era of terror, torment and fear that began a few decades ago. The story of Michael Myers or the character as such has an infinity of fans who over the years have worshiped one of the most important sagas of horror and slasher films, but this month came to an end. Now, is it a worthy ending, is the movie really worth it, is it as terrible as people have tired of saying? - Two of those questions are affirmative and the other one is clearly not.

Tengo que confesar que cuando me senté a verla mis expectativas eran bastante bajas por lo dicho anteriormente, la gente la acribilló ya que según muchos esta nueva parte de a trama se había quedado corta y porque no era el final que esperaban. Yo no lo creo así, si bien es verdad hay un par de cosas muy mejorables, en términos generales estuvo bastante bien, nos dieron ese toque sangriento digno de estos films, la trama como tal tampoco la vi tan mala, de hecho fue de las cosas que más la atención me llamó y por supuesto el final, un final que según yo estuvo acorde, más no se le podía pedir. Pero entonces vamos y hablemos un poco de lo es el último viaje de este mítico y brutal asesino.

I have to confess that when I sat down to watch it, my expectations were quite low because of what I said before, people were riddling it because according to many people this new part of the plot had fallen short and because it was not the ending they were expecting. I do not think so, although it is true that there are a couple of things that could be improved, in general terms it was pretty good, they gave us that bloody touch worthy of these films, the plot as such I did not see it so bad, in fact it was one of the things that caught my attention and of course the ending, an ending that according to me was in accordance, I could not ask for more. But then let's go and talk a little about the last journey of this mythical and brutal killer.

Lógicamente esta historia es la continuación de la saga y más en específico se ubica cuatro años después de los eventos de Halloween Kills y es que durante todo esos años Michael Myers ha estado desaparecido, se ha perdido su rastro por lo que el pueblo de Haddonfield ha vivido con cierta tranquilidad a pesar del miedo perenne que habita en ellos. Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) vive con su nieta Allyson (Andi Matichak) en un aparente clima de calma en donde ella está terminando de escribir lo que será un libro con todas las vivencias que padeció bajo la presencia de Myers, es como si estuviera dándole un cierre a décadas de persecución a través de esas líneas. El tema es que esa pesadilla estaría lejos de acabarse por completo lo que significaría el último baile entre estos iconicos personajes.

Logically this story is the continuation of the saga and more specifically is located four years after the events of Halloween Kills and is that during all those years Michael Myers has been missing, his trail has been lost so the town of Haddonfield has lived with some tranquility despite the perennial fear that inhabits them. Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) lives with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) in an apparent climate of calm where she is finishing writing what will be a book with all the experiences she suffered under the presence of Myers, it is as if she was giving closure to decades of persecution through those lines. The thing is that this nightmare is far from over, which would mean the last dance between these iconic characters.

Pero que desencadena todo esta ola de maldad nuevamente? - en el pueblo hay un joven llamado Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) quien es acusado de un hecho nefasto y lamentable, no diré de qué se trata para evitar spoilers, y que a raíz de eso tal parece que una maldad que estaba oculta se comienza a manifestar tanto en los habitantes del pueblo como en nuestros protagonistas y es acá cuando Laurie deberá otra vez buscar la forma de frenar esa oleada de violencia que ha vivido muchos años en Haddonfield y que pareciera que no tuviera fin. A partir de aquí es cuando comenzamos a ver lo que siempre vemos en estos films, muertes, asesinatos, venganzas, rabia contenida y sobretodo sangre, no tanta como se pudiera esperar pero sangre al fin.

But what triggers all this wave of evil again? - In the town there is a young man named Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) who is accused of a nefarious and regrettable fact, I will not say what it is to avoid spoilers, and as a result of that it seems that an evil that was hidden begins to manifest itself both in the inhabitants of the town and in our protagonists and it is here when Laurie must once again find a way to stop this wave of violence that has lived many years in Haddonfield and that seems to have no end. From here is when we begin to see what we always see in these films, deaths, murders, revenge, contained rage and above all blood, not as much as you might expect but blood nonetheless.

Por lo general cuando salen este típico de películas en donde la generación de expectativas es masiva suelo leer alguna que otra crítica, no buscando condicionarme sino más bien por mera curiosidad y lo que leí de este film es terrible, muy pero muy pocos buenos comentarios por lo que eso me hace preguntarme, es posible que toda esa gente esté equivocada? - esto lo digo porque sinceramente el bodrio de película que esperaba no lo vi, es más, hubo partes en donde realmente disfruté la experiencia. Estamos claros que no es lo mejor de genero pero he visto peores en donde la crítica fue muy condescendiente y es aquí donde pienso que por ser la saga que es se le exige demasiado, se espera que sea perfecta para los ojos de un par de personas que probablemente estén pagadas para escribir lo que convenga.

Usually when this kind of movies come out where the expectations are massive I usually read some reviews, not looking to condition myself but rather out of mere curiosity and what I read about this film is terrible, very, very few good comments so that makes me wonder, is it possible that all those people are wrong? - I say this because I honestly didn't see the awful movie I was expecting, in fact, there were parts of it where I really enjoyed the experience. We are clear that it is not the best of the genre but I have seen worse where the critics were very condescending and it is here where I think that being the saga that it is, too much is demanded, it is expected to be perfect for the eyes of a couple of people who are probably paid to write what is convenient.

La trama en si me gustó, no quiero adelantar mucho pero hay como un plot twist que por lo menos es interesante en el que está involucrado Corey, la verdad no lo vi con malos ojos. Recuerdo el principio de la película y es uno muy bueno, me gustó porque es algo que no te esperas además de que está lleno de esa incertidumbre, misterio y hasta un jump scare por ahí que le dan la bienvenida a lo que será esta nueva entrega. Ya cuando comienza la historia si hay partes en donde el freno de emociones aparece para ralentizar un poco las cosas pero eso es normal y es que no toda la película puede estar bañada de sangre además de que ayuda a dar un poco de contexto para lo que va a suceder después.

The plot itself I liked, I don't want to give too much away but there is a plot twist that is at least interesting in which Corey is involved, the truth is I didn't see it with bad eyes. I remember the beginning of the movie and it's a very good one, I liked it because it's something you don't expect and it's full of uncertainty, mystery and even a jump scare that welcomes you to what this new installment will be. Already when the story begins there are parts where the brake of emotions appears to slow things down a little but that's normal and that is that not all the film can be bathed in blood and it helps to give a little context for what will happen next.

Algo que se ve en Ends y que también se ve un poco en Kills es el uso de la maldad como motor y para mi ese es el centro de toda la película, que tan poderoso puede ser el hecho de que dependiendo de lo que te pase, de tus experiencias pueda despertar algo que tengas dormido y que nadie, ni tú mismo, sabías que tenías. La premisa es que todos tenemos algo de maldad en nuestro ser y personalidad solo que el evento que despierta ese instinto no ha llegado y eso es lo más peligroso, que es impredecible y si no se sabe controlar es imparable. En Halloween Ends pasa mucho eso pero de dos formas, mucha miedo e ira guardada que al final explota contra quien sea y la forma que recién explicaba y de ahí el legado del que hablo. Myers es tan poderoso que sembró oscuridad en todas las personas, muchas de ellas sin saberlo y es eso lo que representa para mi la escancia de estos films y es algo que lo verán reflejado en esta última entrega.

Something that is seen in Ends and is also seen a little in Kills is the use of evil as an engine and for me that is the center of the whole film, how powerful can be the fact that depending on what happens to you, your experiences can awaken something that you have dormant and that no one, not even you, knew you had. The premise is that we all have some evil in our being and personality only that the event that awakens that instinct has not arrived and that is the most dangerous thing, it is unpredictable and if you do not know how to control it is unstoppable. In Halloween Ends that happens a lot but in two ways, a lot of fear and stored anger that in the end explodes against whoever and the way I just explained and hence the legacy I'm talking about. Myers is so powerful that he sowed darkness in all people, many of them without knowing it and that is what represents for me the essence of these films and it is something that you will see reflected in this last installment.

En cuento a los personajes es acá donde está el punto débil, Jamie Lee Curtis está muy curtida de su personaje Laurie, es una persona guerrera que nunca se va a dejar a ganar por Michael, es de esas personas que están dispuestas a hacer lo que sea para defender los suyo y lo que le rodea. Lo que le rodea es Allyson, otra protagonista que no estuvo mal pero que al final es intrascendente, no deja una marca ni un peso en la historia a pesar de ser importante, siento que ella debió de ser como un catalizador para muchas de las cosas que pasan en el film pero no fue así, un personaje tibio y hasta cursi.

In terms of the characters, this is where the weak point is, Jamie Lee Curtis is very tanned in her character Laurie, she is a warrior who will never let Michael win, she is one of those people who are willing to do whatever it takes to defend her own and what surrounds her. What surrounds her is Allyson, another protagonist who was not bad but in the end is inconsequential, she doesn't leave a mark or a weight in the story despite being important, I feel that she should have been like a catalyst for many of the things that happen in the film but it was not so, a lukewarm and even cheesy character.

Y finalmente Corey, el protagonista principal, uno al que le faltó mucha pero bastante y en cantidades industriales carisma y fuerza. No puedes interpretar el personaje que tiene siendo tan frio y sin ser capaz de proyectar una pizca de emoción a la pantalla. Entiendo que parte de su personalidad sea un poco introvertida pero en mi opinión se queda muy corto. Además de que Allyson y Corey como pareja no generan nada de sentimiento, no hubo química alguna y eso considero que es sumamente importante para que los personajes logren traspasar esa cuarta pared. Como dije, la interpretación de los personajes y su desarrollo es lo realmente flojo en esta película.

And finally Corey, the main protagonist, one who lacked a lot but quite a lot and in industrial quantities of charisma and strength. You can't play the character he has by being so cold and not being able to project a shred of emotion to the screen. I understand that part of his personality is a bit introverted but in my opinion he falls far short. Besides the fact that Allyson and Corey as a couple don't generate any feeling at all, there was no chemistry whatsoever and that I feel is extremely important for the characters to break through that fourth wall. As I said, the interpretation of the characters and their development is what is really weak in this movie.

7/10 puede parecer bastante pero la verdad es que si la disfruté, o por lo menos no me aburrí. El final fue uno muy digno, nada del otro mundo pero aceptable, las escenas en donde vimos las masacres y ese elemento gore también estuvieron decentes, la trama como tal, todo el trasfondo de ella es una que llama la atención porque es muy curiosa y es ángulo que muchos no se esperan pero los personajes le quitaron mucho peso, allí baja la calidad un poco. Tiene una duración de menos de dos horas con sus momentos altos y bajos. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.

7/10 may seem quite a lot but the truth is that I did enjoy it, or at least I didn't get bored. The ending was a very decent one, nothing out of this world but acceptable, the scenes where we saw the massacres and that gore element were also decent, the plot as such, all the background of it is one that draws attention because it is very curious and is angle that many do not expect but the characters took away a lot of weight, there the quality drops a little. It has a duration of less than two hours with its high and low moments. I leave the trailer below.
