   Film może wywoływać kontrowersje ze względu na wydźwięk humorystyczny, ale w całym zamyśle o to chodziło by ukazać wojnę oczami dziecka który jest zafascynowany nazizmem i wojna.

   To film trudny pełen bólu, ale jednocześnie dostajemy ciekawa przemianę bohatera.

   Ciężko powiedzieć, ze to film o wojnie. Bo tutaj wojny nie ma wiele, bardziej to film ukazujący jak fanatyzm potrafi wyniszczyć młodego człowieka zamykając go szczelnie w klatce nie dając mu możliwości poznania innych ludzi z obawy ze zmieni swoje poglądy.

   Jeśli miałbym wskazać na coś humorystycznego to w filmie najlepsza komediowa rola była pani sekretarki, która miała zawsze świetna ripostę i brnęła niczym terminator na aliantów ;)

   Film jest bardzo dobry to dramat Niemieckiego dziecka, który wierzył w słuszność rzeszy nie wiedząc tak naprawdę o co chodzi i kim są Żydzi. Taika Waitti stworzył niezwykły film o zakazanej przyjaźni, o fanatyzmie i nauce kim są ludzie. Mocne i śmieszne przez łzy dzieło.

   Hola a toda la Comunidad Hive, hoy les presento Jojo Rabbit, estrenada en el 2019 y dirigida por Taika Waititi es una película que mezcla el horror del la segunda guerra mundial con algo de comedia, diversión, y humor negro, pero que a su vez muestra una historia trágica, haciéndole llegar a su público un mensaje de forma suave pero directo. Ya que en lo personal creo que también es una película para un público joven de entre 10 y 13 años. (Y por favor no piense que es igual que la película ”La vida es bella” en lo personal esa no me gusto para nada.) les aseguro que es una película de la segunda guerra mundial muy diferente a las que ya conocían antes, eso en caso de que conozcan algunas, yo conozco varias, y créanme que de verdad vale la pena verla, porque como ya saben la mayoría de las películas de la segunda guerra mundial siempre dejan un sabor triste al final a diferencia de esta.

   ¿De qué trata?

   Esta película trata de un niño que es fanático del régimen Nazi y que tiene un amigo imaginario nada más y nada menos que Adolf Hitler, JoJo inicia el día alistándose en las Juventudes Hitlerianas, preparándose física y mentalmente para un fin de semana de capacitación en la Jungvolk, un campamento para niños nazis, allí le enseñan a los niños camuflaje, técnicas de emboscada, disparo con armas de fuego, como lanzar granadas entre otras cosas y a las niñas como curar heridas, como hacer las camas y el aprendizaje de como quedar embarazadas, JoJo el cual es molestado por no tener un carácter de agresividad en las actividades, ya que es un niño simpático, elocuente y bueno, decide destacarse por su valor agarrando una granada y lanzándola con la mala suerte que esta repico y se regresó, luego cuando sanan sus heridas le dan un empleo de cartero, mientras que los otros van a la guerra, al llegar a su casa escucho unos ruidos y descubrió una chica que estaba escondida en un cuarto secreto, era una judía que su madre protegía. De allí vienen unas series de situaciones cómicas y otras muy sentimentales, es una película muy interesante y entretenida.

   Opinión Personal

   Bueno esta película me encanto es una Comedia con drama, tiene un contenido interesante en cuanto al alistamiento de niños a la guerra y la preparación de las niñas para embarazarse, ya que Alemania necesitaba personal, colocando como ejemplo de la fraulein Rahm que había tenido 18 hijos para Alemania. La persecución de los judíos y el morir en la horca para los que estaban en contra del régimen, la quema de libros, fue unos de los argumentos de la película. Un dato curioso por si no se habían dado cuenta es que el mismo director de la película Taika Waititi interpreta a Hitler de manera espectacular, vemos un Hitler cobarde, temeroso, y súper cómico, me encanto su cara cuando a JoJo le iba a estallar la granada, luego cuando se desmaya, Jojo nuestro protagonista al final se da cuenta de la verdadera realidad sobre las consecuencias que trae una guerra y la desigualdad hacia otros seres humanos.

   Sin embargo, un punto a recordar es que la historia se sitúa en un punto donde a la Alemania Nazi ya no le quedaba mucho tiempo, por eso vemos a Jojo alistándose con solamente 13 años ya que en los últimos meses antes de que la segunda guerra terminara, alistaban prácticamente a los preadolecentes y casi a cualquier tipo de persona, por eso la guerra no dura mucho en esta película, además de que esta se centra más que todo en la amistad del niño y la chica judía.

   Lo asombroso a mi parecer de esta película y puede que suene a cliché, es que al comienzo podemos ver a un personaje fiel a sus creencias en cuanto al régimen, y al pasar poco a poco el tiempo podemos ver su evolución y como sus pensamientos cambian de acuerdo a los acontecimientos que le van pasando y como el mismo protagonista se da cuenta de que al final cuando la guerra le ha arrebatado todo comprendería lo absurda e innecesaria que es.

   Personal Opinion

   Well I loved this movie, it is a comedy with drama, it has an interesting content regarding the enlistment of children to the war and the preparation of girls to get pregnant, since Germany needed personnel, placing as an example the fraulein Rahm who had 18 children for Germany. The persecution of Jews and death by hanging for those who were against the regime, the burning of books, was one of the plots of the film. A curious fact in case you had not noticed is that the same director of the film Taika Waititi plays Hitler in a spectacular way, we see a Hitler cowardly, fearful, and super funny, I loved his face when JoJo was going to explode the grenade, then when he faints, Jojo our protagonist at the end realizes the true reality about the consequences of war and inequality towards other human beings.

   Jojo Rabbit is one of those movies that I am too drawn to, and I feel like one of the main reasons for this is because of its approach to a very particular subject: innocence.

   

   Directed by Taika Waititi (who after What We Do in The Shadows and Thor Ragnarok could be considered one of the best mainstream filmmakers of today), Jojo Rabbit is a film that tells the story of Johannes “Jojo” Betzler, a young German 10-year-old who is part of a 1926 German youth indoctrination system, Jojo (played by Roman Griffin Davis) is totally obsessed with Nazism and Hitler himself, to the point that his mind projects him as an imaginary friend. Jojo's life changes when he discovers that his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in the attic.

   Those who do not know Waititi's style and read the description of the film could expect a rather dark film, with a dramatic approach to the holocaust (As usual) but all this could not be further from the truth.

   

   Jojo Rabbit takes advantage of the realistic but crazy of its premise (as well as the painful historical context in which it arises) to tell an emotional story that mixes black comedy very well with quite deep moments.

   Without the intention of giving dense and boring moral lessons, Waititi's ability to put ourselves in the shoes of an innocent young man and full of many erroneous ideas that were implanted in his head makes us see all the events with a very particular perspective, where each piece The puzzle generates some empathy (Although it derives from comedy).

   

   On the surface it is a great and deserved mockery of Nazism, but it also serves as a representation of a movement that even if the exaggerations of the work in our reality were already absurd. That cynicism is perhaps the soul of Jojo Rabbit.

   The satire here is far from subtle but it is always effective.

   Jojo Rabbit is not only extremely narrative proficient, but also has an excellent presentation, a fast paced but very well measured that perfectly replicates childlike emotion and conveys every piece of information and world building effectively.

   Jojo Rabbit es una de esas películas por las que me siento demasiado atraído, y siento que una de las principales razones de esto es su forma de abordar un tema muy particular: la inocencia.

   

   Dirigida por Taika Waititi (Quien luego de What We Do in The Shadows y Thor Ragnarok podría ser considerado uno de los mejores cineastas mainstream de la actualidad), Jojo Rabbit es una cinta que narra la historia de Johannes “Jojo” Betzler, un joven aleman de 10 años que forma parte de un sistema de adoctrinamiento de jóvenes en 1926, Jojo (Interpretado por Roman Griffin Davis) está totalmente obsesionado con el nazismo y el propio Hitler, a tal punto de que su mente lo proyecta como un amigo imaginario. La vida de Jojo cambia cuando descubre que su madre (Scarlett Johansson) está escondiendo a una chica judía en el ático de su casa.

   Quienes no conozcan el estilo de Waititi y lean la descripción de la película podrían esperar una cinta bastante oscura, con un acercamiento dramático al holocausto (Como es usual) pero todo esto no podría ser más alejado de la realidad.

   

   Jojo Rabbit aprovecha lo realista pero alocado de su premisa (Así como el doloroso contexto histórico en donde surge) para narrar una historia emotiva que mezcla muy bien la comedia negra con momentos bastante profundos.

   Sin ánimos de dar densas y aburridas lecciones morales la habilidad de Waititi para ponernos en la piel de un joven inocente y lleno de muchas ideas erróneas que fueron implantadas en su cabeza nos hace ver todos los eventos con una óptica muy particular, en donde cada pieza del rompecabezas genera cierta empatía (Aunque derive de la comedia).

   

   En la superficie es una genial y merecida burla al nazismo, pero también sirve como una representación de un movimiento que incluso si las exageraciones propias de la obra en nuestra realidad ya era absurdo. Ese cinismo es quizá el alma de Jojo Rabbit.

   La sátira aquí dista de ser sutil pero siempre es efectiva.

   Jojo Rabbit no solo es extremadamente competente desde lo narrativo, sino que también cuenta con una presentación excelente, un ritmo acelerado pero muy bien medido que replica a la perfección la emoción infantil y que transmite cada pieza de información y world building con eficacia.

   

   No dejemos de lado tampoco las brillantes actuaciones, no solo de los niños Griffin Davis y Archie Yates (Quien interpreta a Yorki, el mejor amigo de Jojo), sino de Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Thomason McKenzie y el propio Taika que hace de Hitler (El ficticio).

   Brillantes elecciones musicales y una hermosa fotografía, cada uno de estos aspectos complementa lo que viene siendo una de las mejores cintas del 2019.

   La naturaleza burlona de Jojo Rabbit nunca la cohibe de transmitir mensajes importantes, todo lo contrario, termina usándola a su favor para hacerlo de manera muy divertida y conmovedora.

   

   Aunque entiendo que el estilo de Taika puede parecer “payaso” y si esperan algo serio Jojo Rabbit nunca será de su agrado, hay que admitir que objetivamente es una genialidad, que toma un doloroso evento y lo convierte en el vehículo de una simple pero gran historia.

   Una película extremadamente balanceada que básicamente podría ver en loop infinito, absolutamente recomendada.

   Si existe algo que me apasione más que las Drag Queens, definitivamente es la Historia Mundial. Es por eso que cuando en el curso de inglés al que asisto desde hace un año, nos dijeron que veríamos una película ambientada en la Segunda Guerra Mundial y que además estaba protagonizada por un niño increíble que posteriormente me robaría el corazón no pude evitar sentirme instantáneamente interesado en ver este film.

   Jojo Rabbit es el nombre de la película dirigida por Taika Waititi un productor neozelandés que realizó la adaptación del libro Caging skies de Christine Leunens, la cual fue protagonizada por Roman Griffin Davis en el papel principal de Johannes "Jojo" Betzler y la sorprendente aparición de una de mis actrices favoritas, Scarlett Johansson como Rosie Betzler la madre de Jojo, junto a ellos estarán Thomasin McKenzie en el papel de una niña judía llamada Elsa Korr, Archie Yates como Yorki el mejor amigo de Jojo y el propio director de esta película Taika Waititi haciendo el papel más hilarante de esta película Hitler.

   

   

   The story is about a boy named Jojo who has an imaginary friend in Hitler (whom he adores) and whose big dream is to belong to the Hitler Youth (which were also mandatory) for this he enlists in the camps where hundreds of children are indoctrinated and trained for the war, in one of these tests Jojo gets injured, so he is sent back home where he realizes that his mom has been hiding a Jewess in the attic of his house.

   This film takes place in the middle of the war between the Allies and Nazi Germany, so the bombings and clashes are not lacking, as expected in this type of stories set in war, but despite that what I like most is the touch of humor that the director puts, which of course being a subject that is still controversial was normal to generate so much controversy. The most beautiful thing is how the story evolves through the relationship that an indoctrinated young man has with his Jewish "enemy" managing to change little by little the perception he has towards Nazism. Perhaps thanks to his mother who is definitely one of the sweetest mothers I have ever seen on the big screen, Scarlett Johansson's role is brilliant throughout the film. I never heard Rosie judge her son for his ideals, they both come to understand each other despite their differences, it's amazing to see her smile despite her struggles and the times she was going through definitely her Oscar nomination was well deserved.

   La historia trata acerca de un niño llamado Jojo que tiene un amigo imaginario en Hitler (a quien adora) y cuyo gran sueño es pertenecer a las Juventudes Hitlerianas (que además eran obligatorias) para ello se alista en los campamentos donde cientos de niños son adoctrinados y entrenados para la guerra, en una de esas pruebas Jojo sale herido, por lo que es enviado de vuelta a casa donde se da cuenta que su mama ha estado escondiendo a una judía en el ático de su casa.

   Esta película se desarrolla en medio del conflicto bélico entre los Aliados y la Alemania nazista por lo que los bombardeos y los enfrentamientos no faltaran, como era de esperarse en este tipo de historias ambientadas en guerras, pero a pesar de eso lo que más me gusta es el toque de humor que le pone el director, que por supuesto al tratarse de un tema que todavía es controversial era normal que generara tanta polémica. Lo más bonito es como va evolucionando la historia a través de la relación que un joven adoctrinado tiene son su “enemigo” judío logrando cambiar de a poco la percepción que tiene hacia el nazismo. Quizás gracias a su madre que definitivamente es una de las madres más dulces que he visto jamás en la gran pantalla, el papel de Scarlett Johansson es brillante en toda la película. Nunca escuché a Rosie juzgar a su hijo por sus ideales, ambos se llegan a entender a pesar de sus diferencias, es increíble verla sonreír a pesar de sus luchas y los momentos que estaba viviendo definitivamente su nominación al Oscar fue bien merecida.

   It was really fascinating the chemistry between Jojo and his imaginary Hitler, perhaps this imaginary character arises from the absence of Jojo's father. I never thought I would see Hitler portrayed in such a humorous way, in this movie they ridicule the Nazi propaganda and their extremist ideas. By the way during the course of the movie Hitler becomes clumsier, selfish and bitter.

   In the same way I couldn't stop laughing with the characters of Captain Klenzendorf played by the great Sam Rockwell and with the authoritarian Fräulein Rahm played by Rebel Wilson.

   Another thing in particular that I loved was that it showed the reality the colors and the contrasts of the Nazi villages that are always portrayed in a dark and sinister way. The cinematography of the film is great, the colors and the shots and how everything gets darker as the film progresses, it's amazing how the director shows us the world as Jojo sees it.

   Estuvo realmente fascinante la química entre Jojo y su Hitler imaginario quizás este personaje imaginario surge de la ausencia del padre de Jojo. Nunca pensé ver a Hitler representado de una manera tan jocosa, en esta película ridiculizan la propaganda nazi y sus ideas extremistas. Por cierto durante el transcurso de la película Hitler se va volviendo más torpe, egoista y amargado.

   De la misma manera no paré de reírme con los personajes del Capitán Klenzendorf interpretado por el gran Sam Rockwell y con la autoritaria Fräulein Rahm interpretada por Rebel Wilson.

   Otra cosa en particular que me encantó fue que se mostrara la realidad los colores y los contrastes de los pueblos nazis que siempre son retratados de manera oscura y siniestra. Es genial la fotografía de la película, los colores los planos y como todo se va oscureciendo a medida que avanza la película, es increíble como el director nos muestra el mundo como lo ve Jojo.

   Cuando Jojo abraza los pies de su mama y aquellos inconfundibles tacones de charol es la parte más dura y emotiva de este film. Al final Elsa y Jojo lo pierden todo pero también ambos ganaron un hermano, precisamente esta parte es muy inspiradora todos los involucrados perdieron al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

   Jojo Rabbit is a wonderful satire of an unfunny subject, many people think that everything is wrong with this movie but it is just the world as a child sees it. We also don't have to take things to heart, we must continue to remember the victims of the Holocaust and these types of stories serve to put today's youth in context, without downplaying it of course, at the end of the day it's not right to laugh at the massacre of Jewish civilians at the hands of the Nazis but at no point does the film pretend to do so what's more, the film knows when to get sentimental and I love those transitions.

   More than a satire it is a lovely tale to ponder, full of beautiful sentiments and morals that will make you think about how unnecessary hate is. This is a sobering film that you can enjoy as a family so if you haven't seen it I invite you to watch it, for me it's a 9/10.

   Jojo Rabbit es una sátira maravillosa de un tema nada gracioso, muchas personas piensan que todo está mal con esta película pero solo es el mundo como lo ve un niño. Tampoco tenemos que tomarnos las cosas tan a pecho, debemos seguir recordando a las víctimas del Holocausto y este tipo de historias sirven para poner en contexto a los jóvenes de hoy en día, sin restarle importancia por supuesto, al final de todo no está bien reírse de la masacre de civiles judíos en manos de los nazistas pero en ningún momento la película pretende hacerlo es más, la película sabe cuándo ponerse sentimental y esas transiciones me encantan.

   Más que una sátira es un cuento adorable para reflexionar, lleno de sentimientos hermosos y moralejas que te harán pensar en lo innecesario que es el odio. Esta es una cinta aleccionadora que puedes disfrutar en familia así que sino la has visto te invito a verla, para mí es un 9/10.

   In my exploration to look for new communities on Hive, I came across Movies & TV Shows and I saw that it was the perfect place where I could share a few words about something I love: Movies and series. So to start in this new community I wanted to share what was what impacted me the most about jojo rabit, that according to the trilers, was going to be exclusively comedy, but apparently it was not what I expected.

   
   

   En mi exploracion para buscar nuevas comunidades en Hive, me encontre con Movies & TV Shows y vi que era el lugar perfecto donde podia compartir algunas palabras de algo que me apaciona: Las peliculas y las series. Asi que para iniciar en esta nueva comunidad queria compartir que fue lo que mas me impacto de jojo rabit, que segun los trilers, iba a ser exclusivamente comedia, pero que al parecer no era lo que yo esperaba.

   
   
   

   When you see the trailer of the movie Jojo Rabbit, you imagine that it will be a complete comedy about the Nazis of more than 90 minutes showing how absurd and even ridiculous were the people who followed that ideology of the superior race, of course we all know the horrible things that the Nazis did to many innocent people, but if they take another movie that focuses exclusively on the sadness, then we would have another National Geographic documentary. I really thought it would be a great movie to watch as a family, so when my wife and I went to visit my wife's aunt, and after lunch, I suggested that we watch a comedy movie as a family.

   
   

   Cuando ves el trailer de la pelicula Jojo Rabbit, te imaginas que sera una completa comedia sobre los nazi de mas de 90 minutos mostrando lo absurdo y hasta ridiculos que eran las personas que seguian esa ideologia de la raza superior, claro todos conocemos las horribles cosas que los nazi le hicieron a muchas personas inocentes, pero si sacan otra pelicula que se centre exclusivamente en lo triste, pues tenriamos otro documental de National Geographic. La verdad pensaba que seria una excelente pelicula para ver en familia, asi que cuando con mi esposa fueimos a visitar a la tia de mi esposa, y despues del almuerzo, propuse que vieramos en familia una pelicula de comedia.

   La verdad, para mi jojo rabit mas que solo comedia toca varios puntos importantes sobre lo que se les enseña a los niños, ya que podemos ver como desde el principio la ideologia nazi se les enseñaba a los niños con bastante fuerza, ya que se les decia que unirse a las filas de las juventud hitleriana era el mayor honor porque despues serian soldados del ejercito aleman, tambien que los judios eran los enemigos ya que eran los causantes de todos los males y que debian matarlos cuando los vieran y sin dudarlo y por ultimo que Hitler era todo un heroe. Y podemos ver a nuestro personaje principal Jojo, fanaticamente arraigado a ese modo de pensar e incluso consideraba que su mejor amigo imaginario era el propio hitller.

   Luego, podemos ver como La historia se va desarrollando mejor despues de que jojo sufriera un accidente con una granada en un entrenamiento, asi que queda un poco discapacitado de una pierna y con cicatrices en la cara por lo que ya no califica para ser un soldado de Hitler, por eso para que no se haga un daño mayor se le asigna colaborar colocando en las calles propaganda nazi, pero todo cambia para Jojo luego de que un dia regresa temprano a casa y su madre no esta, pero se da cuenta de que en su casa hay una judia que ha sido escondida por su madre.

   Pero al pasar tiempo con Elza, la niña judia que la mama de jojo esconde, vamos viendo todo empieza a dar un cambio en la tarma, ya que al conocerla mejor llegan a formas una bonita amistad y jojo llega a enamorarce de ella, pero todo se torna triste cuando unos oficiales de la gestapo van a la casa de jojo porque han recibido un llamado de que alli hay un judio, u luego de ser librados de una muerte segura pasan los dias y mientras jojo persigue una mariposa azul por la plaza descubre que han colgado a su mama por estar distribuyendo propaganda anti-nazi. Este fue el momento mas triste de la pelicula ya que fue algo totalmente inesperado y la verdad queria ver a jojo y su mama bailando cuando la guerra acabara.

   Luego de la desgarradora escena de la mama de jojo, la pelicula pasa a analizar los ultimos momentos de la 2da guerra muendial, ya que vemos que hitler se suicida y los aliados y rusia estan cada vez mas cerca de tomar el control, asi que empezamos a ver unos desesperados nazi, tratar de dar lo ultimo para vencer a sus enemigos, los nazis muy cobardemente usan a los niños, las mujeres y los ancianos para combatir, incluso les dan granadas a los niños para que exploten cuando se les acerquen a los soldados aliados. Pero sin mucha batalla, los nazis pierden y jojo es salvado de una ejecucion segura, asi que como no tiene a nadie ya que la guera le ha quitado a sus padres, va a buscar a elza para comenzar a vivir una vida normal.

   A MASTERPIECE! because it leaves us a very valuable and important lesson about the upbringing that is given to children and what they are exposed to around them, as they can be affected for better or worse. Also as with jojo, children see things very differently from adults and often do not know that what they do can be wrong, so when they are taught from an early age to hate, they create for society a person who is intolerable, racist or extremist. Also the learning system of a child is very accelerated, that's why we can see in the movie that when he was taught the idea of killing a Jew with total normality and it was something that Jojo could do without remorse, we see that he himself says that he would enjoy doing it to please Hitler. And it is very sad, but the reality that we live today around us is very similar to what we see happening in the movie, since entertainment is plagued with extreme violence, in the most popular movies very violent scenes are shown abirtamente, as for example the best selling games are those that show a confrontation to death to win the game or as they say so it does not sound so explicit battle royale, that clearly is incensitizing the children that when they grow up they become criminals, as it happened with the German children, that since they were little they were taught to hate and to murder without mercy, that is why so many horrible crimes were committed during the war, where most of the dead were innocent civilians who had no intention of entering into a war conflict.

   
   

   ¡TODA UNA OBRA MAESTRA! ya que nos deja una muy valiosa e importante leccion sobre la crianza que se les da a los niños y a lo que se exponen al alrededor, ya que pueden verse afectarlos para bien o para mal. Ademas como paso con jojo, los niños ven las cosas que es muy distinta de los adultos y muchas veces no saben que lo que hacen puede ser incorrecto, por eso cuando desde pequeños se les enseña a odiar crean para la sociedad a una persona intolerable, racista o extremista. Ademas el sistema de aprendizaje de un niño es muy acelerado, por eso podemos ver en la pelicula que cuando le enseñaban la idea de matar a un judio con total normalidad y era algo que jojo podia hacer sin remordimientos, vemos que el mismo dice que disfrutaria hacerlo para agradarle a hitler. Y es muy triste, pero la realidad que vivimos hoy dia a nuestro alrededor es Muy parecido a los que vemos que ocurre en la pelicula, ya que el entretenimiento esta plagado de violencia extrema, en las pelicuas mas populares se muestra abirtamente escenas muy violentas, como por ejemplo los juegos mas vendidos son aquellos que muestran un enfrentamientos a muerte para ganar el juego o como le dicen para que no suene tan explicito battle royale, eso claramente va incensibilizando a los niños que al crecer se combierten en todos unos criminales, como paso con los niños alemanes, que desde pequeños se les enseño a odiar y a asesinar sin piedad, por eso fue que se cometieron tantos crimenes muy horribles durante la guerra, donde la mayor parte de muertos fueron civiles inocentes que no tenian ninguna intencion de entrar en un conflico belico.

   Jojo Rabbit is a nice 2019 comedy-drama film written and directed by Taika Waititi, who also plays Hitler in the film. This director became better-known because of his work in Thor: Ragnarok, a movie that highlighted not only his colorful style but also his love for making comedies, something he is very successful at.

   I watched this film yesterday, being one of the few Oscar films that I hadn't watched and I was pleasantly surprised by the heart of this movie, it's not only funny but also very hopeful and sweet, something we need more of these days.

   

   Jojo Rabbit is about Jojo, a kid that lives in Nazi Germany and who has been indoctrinated to believe in the Nazi regime. He is very devoted to the cause, as much as a child can be, and even goes as far as to have an imaginary Hitler friend, who advises him on the things he should do to be a proper nazi. One day he discovers a girl that has been hiding in the attack his house, she is a jew and his mother had been hiding without telling him.

   These two children become friends, the girl, who is older, teaching him that jews aren't the monsters he was lead to believe they were, and little by little, realizing that he has been taught only prejudice and should strive for change.

   

   I want to congratulate Scarlett Johansson for having such a successful year in 2019, having 2 roles that got nominated for an academy award (the other one being in A Marriage Story), she is wonderful here, as a fun and loving mother. The two children were also amazing in this film, having to carry most of it and with amazing chemistry, the young actors Thomasin McKenzie and Roman Griffin Davis truly have a great career ahead of them.

   I had never seen a WWII film that was told in such a fun way since it's a sensitive topic, perhaps the only other example I could think of is Life is Beautiful. But what is truly innovative is that it's told from the perspective of a german child that has been indoctrinated to fully believe in the Nazi cause, yet it is told in such a fun manner.

   

   Jojo Rabbit is one of the best films of 2019, it's fun yet touching and full of heart.

   This is a film about the importance of accepting and understanding each other. It's a beautiful movie that you can even watch with your children as long as they are old enough to understand what WWII is.

    Obtuvo el Premio a Mejor Guión adaptado

    Sin duda alguna, la producción ganadora de la noche del domingo pasado en la entrega de los premios de la Academia fue la cinta Parasite de Bong Joon-ho con sus cuatro Oscars, incluyendo los dos más importantes. Pero en un año de grandes tramas, excelentes actuaciones y una gran variedad, creo que la película que más se aferrará a la memoria (y a las emociones) de las personas es Jojo Rabbit, dirigida, producida, actuada y co-escrita por Taika Waititi, a partir de una novela de Christine Leunens. Es decir, creo que la mayoría de las cintas nominadas este año son buenas, muchísimo, pero no son el tipo de historias que las personas pudieran ver una y otra vez: Joker puede resultar incómoda, al igual que Parasite; 1917 es algo sencilla en la trama; Once upon a time... in Hollywood es muy lenta y no es lo mejor de Tarantino; Little women puede convertirse en la favorita para los amantes de las películas de época; pero Jojo Rabbit tiene todos los elementos de esas historias que se nos quedan en la cabeza durante mucho tiempo y que nos gusta repasar varias veces. ¿Quién ha visto Forrest Gump o La Vida es Bella una sola vez? Bueno, en ese sentido, creo que esta película se puede disfrutar repetidamente y explicaré por qué.

    Originalidad en la idea central

    A grandes rasgos, Jojo es un niño de unos diez años que tiene un amigo imaginario. Eso no es nada nuevo, ¿cierto? Pero vamos a contextualizar. Jojo Betzler es un niño alemán que crece durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Además es - como millones de alemanes en aquel entonces - acérrimo seguidor del partido Nazi y de Adolf Hitler, al punto de que su amigo imaginario es el mismísimo Führer. El que Adolf Hitler, probablemente el hombre más malo de la historia, pueda ser el amigo imaginario de una criatura inocente es una idea arriesgada y única que puede resultar descabellada hasta que recordamos que millones de personas escucharon, admiraron, idolatraron y obedecieron a este hombre porque dentro de sus cabezas los argumentos y las ideas de Hitler les parecían válidas. Si eso le sucedió a personas adultas, ¿cómo no esperar que Jojo admire al hombre que salvó al pueblo alemán del monstruo Judío?

    Personajes y situaciones

    Jojo es un niño tierno, ingenuo, despierto de mente que busca demostrar su valía ante sus semejantes. Su ternura acaso sólo sea superada por la de su único amigo real, Yorki. Pero, ¿qué pensará y qué hará Jojo cuando descubra que en su propia casa su propia madre oculta a una niña judía? No diré quién es ni por qué lo hace, pero esta aparición pondrá de cabeza su mundo, sus idelaes y su relación con el Hitler imaginario.

    

    Adolf es su amigo imaginario

    Porque hay que recordar que el Hitler que vemos no es un Hitler histórico. Se trata de la proyección de la mente de un niño de diez años que no sólo lo llama Adolf en vez de Führer sino que _lo escucha_, le consulta, debate con él con gran confianza y _lo usa_ como a cualquier otro amigo imaginario: un mecanismo de defensa para adaptarse o evadir una realidad negativa: padre ausente, falta de integración entre sus semejantes y por supuesto, la guerra. A ellos se suman la madre del niño, los oficiales y claro, la niña judía oculta en su casa, cada uno con un _encanto_ particular.

    Una novela de iniciación

    

    El libro

    El término alemán Bildungsroman fue acuñado para referirse a las novelas de formación o novelas de aprendizaje, también llamadas novelas de iniciación, historias que retratan la transición de la niñez a la vida adulta. En este caso no vemos a Jojo llegar a adulto, pero sí entrar a la adolescencia y dejar atrás su niñez. Y esa transición es trabajada de gran manera en la cinta. La aparición de la niña judía y la interacción con ella, es decir con el enemigo, es el inicio de la madurez de Jojo, quién comienza a cuestionar sus valores, sus creencias y comienza a dudar de lo que siempre ha pensado - y en especial sentido - sobre los enemigos del Reich. Al inicio es un pequeño inocente, temeroso e ingenuo que no sabe atar los cordones de sus zapatos e idolatra al líder alemán; pero luego se va transformando y va resquebrajando la burbuja ideológica en la que ha vivido toda su vida y comienza a comprender la vida por sí mismo, más allá de lo que le han dicho. La ruptura de la fidelidad ciega a las ideas y la aparición del constante cuestionamiento de la realidad son la señal más clara del proceso de madurez, de crecimiento, de Jojo, que se cristaliza en dos escenas que no revelaré para evitar mayores spoilers.

    El melodrama

    En su ensayo sobre la novela Madame Bovary de Gustave Flaubert, titulado La orgía perpetua, el escritor peruano Mario Vargas Llosa expone que la magia de esa novela, su favorita, radica en el perfecto equilibrio entre cuatro elementos, entre los cuales destaca, con algo de rubor, el melodrama (la cursilería). Más propio de los folletines o de las telenovelas, el melodrama es evitado por los libros y las películas serias que se quedan en el espectro de lo meramente dramático. Pero, como a Vargas Llosa, a todos nos gustan las escenas melodramáticas, aunque nos avergüence reconocerlo en algunos casos.

    

    Jojo y su madre

    Ojo: cursi no es romántico y melodrama no es drama. Drama es que la abuela Coco esté anciana y moribunda, melodrama es que cante la canción de su papá, salvándole de la desaparición en el último instante. Drama es que Mia y Sebastian hayan tenido que separarse por motivos profesionales, melodrama es que él haya abierto su club de Jazz usando el nombre y el logo que ella le había diseñado años atrás cuando aún eran novios. Una frase recordada textualmente cincuenta años más tarde, la sobreposición a los temores propios para salvar a otro, la forma en que Guido hacía de la guerra un juego para que su hijo no se asustara, todo hace parte de la cursilería que también está presente en Jojo Rabbit, con momentos, imágenes, escenas y sobre todo frases como _"Siempre hay tiempo para el romance. Algún día conocerás a alguien especial"_. Estos detalles, estas escenas y frases se distribuyen a lo largo del guión, consiguiendo su objetivo: hacer sentir. La historia provoca risas, llanto, ternura, tristeza... es una historia muy emotiva, aunque en mi opinión creo que se excede un poco (mínimamente, apenas por encima del límite) con lo melodramático.

    Dos claves

    

    El humor

    Ahora bien, ¿cómo lo hicieron funcionar? ¿como se toma a un Hitler imaginario para contar la historia de una guerra atroz? ¿cómo se consigue mezclar melodrama y guerra en una novela de iniciación que no resulte deprimente? La clave está en dos puntos centrales de la cinta. La primera es el humor. Jojo Rabbit es una comedia. Negra, pero comedia. El fanatismo político, el antisemitismo, el odio, el egocentrismo del líder Nazi, el colaboracionismo, todo es denunciado en clave de humor. Pero un humor serio. Cuando Hitler aconseja a Jojo "Quema la casa y culpa a Winston Churchill" o cuando al final de la guerra se oye a Yorki decir "no es un buen momento para ser Nazi", reímos y sonreímos porque resulta gracioso. Sin embargo, no es ridículo. No se trata de una burda parodia al nazismo. Es ironía, mordacidad, ingenio, al servicio de la denuncia.

    

    La niñez

    Y el otro elemento clave es la niñez. Si bien Hitler es gracioso por lo irónico de las líneas que dice, Jojo resulta encantador y gracioso debido a su condición de niño. Si le dices a un niño de ocho o diez años que los judíos tienen cuernos y cola, lo primero que hará al encontrarse con uno es buscar esas señas de identificación. Si le dices que el amor se siente como mariposas en el estómago, le dará asco. Y es que Jojo es, después de todo, un niño. Nazi, sí, pero primero niño. La celebrada película _La vida es bella_ usa el humor también, pero en aquella es Guido, el padre, quien _disfraza_ la realidad para proteger a su hijo; lo vemos y nos damos cuenta de que _sólo él puede tener esas ocurrencias_. Pero en Jojo es diferente, acaso mejor, porque nadie le disfraza la guerra a Jojo, es él mismo quien con su mirada de niño entiende la realidad según lo que le han contado y lo que su imaginación le sugiere. La comedia en este caso nace de su ingenuidad, de su ternura. No todos podemos ser Guido, pero sí hemos sido niños una vez.

    El resultado

    Nótese que he llegado hasta aquí minimizando los spoilers y hablando solamente de la historia, sin explicar lo técnico. La dirección, fotografía, actuaciones, guión, vestuario, dan material para un análisis extenso, pero me interesaba hablar de la esencia de la historia y de los elementos que subyacen debajo de todo lo técnico. El resultado es una historia divertida, alegre, dolorosa, irónica, de denuncia, de amor, de nostalgia, de exaltación de la niñez y condena del odio; una historia que es a la vez como un documental de History Channel, una sátira de los hermanos Cohen y un libro de cuentos infantiles; y es en esa mezcla inusual en la que alcanza su trascendencia y su condición de memorable. Es una película de 9/10 puntos que provoca volver a ver aún antes de terminar la historia por primera vez. Si ya la vieron, saben a lo que me refiero; si no, entonces ¿por cuánto tiempo más van a seguir ignorándolo?

    What an original and unique film I just watched. It is extremely hard to compare this movie with previous ones because it is so different that I cannot think of many productions that could justify a proper comparison. The only semi-exception could be the classic "Life Is Beautiful."

    In a way, this can be considered the mirror image of Life is Beautiful. That movie was about the life of an innocent Jewish boy during WW2, with a bit of comedy and the always present cloud of tragedy and drama. Jojo Rabbit is about the life of an innocent Nazi boy during the same period, with enough comedy and cute moments in the first half, and a dramatic resolution.

    One key difference is that with Life is Beautiful both genres (drama-comedy) are constantly mixed throughout the movie. With Jojo Rabbit we have first a little bit of comedy, and then we have drama, the genres aren't mixed at all.

    

    In Jojo Rabbit, we have a small child that has Hitler himself as his imaginary friend, well a ridiculed Hitler in fact, sort of like a cartoon version or how a small kid would imagine him to be. The kid is totally indoctrinated and believes everything the Nazis say about Jews, the Aryan race and so on. Nevertheless, the movie quickly shows us this is simply a very innocent kid without evil inside his heart.

    He lives with his mother and his dad is supposedly fighting the war in another country. He goes to some type of training camp for Nazi kids and it seems the person he talks the most is his imaginary friend, along with his mom of course, who seems like a fine lady. Hard to understand how her child is such a Nazi fan, I guess this is the sort of thing that can happen if the government is in charge of educating the children instead of the parents.

    As their country is in war it is inevitable that bad things will happen eventually. There is a surprise that is key to the story but it can't be mentioned because it would be a very ugly spoiler. What I can tell is that the story is extremely original and unique, it provides an impactful exploration of the feelings a small boy can experience when his country is facing a war, and how somehow good people can get wrapped in bad situations that are outside their control.

    

    Doing this sort of movie especially with a production of such a high value will be always something positive for me. However, I would really like to see movies exploring the atrocities of other totalitarians powers that produced even more tragedies in the past century. It is important to always remember all the evil that came to this world thanks to National Socialism in Germany, but I feel a lot of people are not aware of the even greater evil that came uppon this world through Soviet socialism or through Mao's Communist China.

    National Socialists weren't the only villains of the past century. In the socialist Soviet Union, the disaster was of even bigger proportions, it covered more land, countries, and people and it lasted much longer. In Mao's communist revolution in China, the number of people that were killed for ideological reasons was multiple times bigger than the number of Jews murdered by the National Socialists in Germany, besides, it is thanks to them that North Korea exists today, otherwise, there would be only 1 Korea and it would be free and prosperous like today's South Korea.

    It is sad to see so little movies being produced about these 2 evil political movements as if their victims didn't matter. The tragic stories that can be told about the Polish or Ukranian people, for example, under the rule of Soviet socialism also deserve proper attention and public reflection.

    

    The best

    • Roman Griffin Davis does an amazing job as a child actor portraying a Nazi fanatic child that despite his indoctrination still has a good heart.
    • Top-notch performances from Scarlet Johansson and Taika David Waititi who besides being the writer and director of this movie, is also the actor who played Adolf Hitler, the imaginary friend of Jojo.
    • A lot of fun dialogue from the Nazi child when he speaks nonsense about Jews as if this were the most normal thing in the world.
    • Emotional intense moments in the last half an hour that can touch the feelings of even the toughest person.

    The worst

    • Some people might get uncomfortable seeing a light-hearted movie about Nazism.

    Hoy, por fin, logré ver Jojo Rabbit. La última película de Taika Waititi, que tiene nominaciones al Oscar a mejor actriz de reparto y mejor película. Y tiene con que, ya que Scarlett Johansson se luce como la madre viuda de un niño nazi, y la película tiene todo para estar nominada (porque por más que me haya gustado, no creo que gane) a mejor película, con una historia entrañable que puede llevarte de reír hasta llorar en algunos puntos. La película tiene de protagonista a Jojo, un niño de 10 que en la Alemania nazi quiere ser un gran Nazi para estar lado a lado con Hitler, quien es su mejor amigo imaginario (interpretado por Waititi) para librarse del bullying que lleva de los otros niños. Tras pasar tiempo en su casa, Jojo descubre que hay una chica judía viviendo en su casa, oculta por su madre, que al parecer es una desertora. Con esto, Jojo crea una amistad con la muchacha para así sacarle información sobre los judíos, escribir un libro y volverse famoso después de publicarlo.

    

    Ahora que conocemos la historia, es comprensible porque algunos comparan la película con “el niño de la pijama de rayas”, siendo en su mayor parte, una comedia. Y es una comedia inocente, que para algunos sufre demasiado de inocencia, pero para otros, como yo, nos muestra a la Alemania Nazi cómo nunca se había mostrado en el cine, mucho menos en el cine de estados unidos: nos muestra una Alemania Nazi desde la perspectiva de un niño enamorado de la idea Nazi, haciendo que esta se nos muestre de forma divertida y de color pastel. La película derrama inocencia, con Nazis siendo tontos, graciosos y buenas personas. Pero cuando la película se quiere poner seria, llega a ser una película que podría sacarle las lágrimas al más duro, con alguna escena no muy fuerte, hasta que te das cuenta de todo el contexto que se lleva a cabo.

    

    Si saben de Taika, saben que es más caracterizado por hacer humor que por hacer drama, y a esta película no le falta humor, pasando de diálogos de comedia negra que cuestan entender a la primera, a chistes tan estúpidos cómo confundir a los “pastores alemanes” con verdaderos pastores alemanes. El humor de esta película tiene varias capas, pero yo la vi caracterizada por sobre todo, por la sátira. Una sátira dónde vas a ver a niños cargando cañones o a Hitler saltando por la ventana tras despedirse. Escenarios absurdos como nazis vestidos con plumas en medio de una guerra, dónde se nota que los actores, más que actuando se están divirtiendo; dónde se nota que la película, a diferencia de la mayoría de las películas que trata temas bélicos, está hecha con todo corazón para ser una película hermosa y llena de felicidad hasta su último momento.

    

    

    Y no, para mí no es lo mejor del año ni lo mejor que tienes para ver entre los nominados a Oscars, pero si es una película que vale la pena y tiene su puesto entre los nominados muy bien ganado. Leí por ahí que alguien dijo sobre la película “no es del tipo de películas que me gustan ver, pero si es el tipo de películas que me gusta saber que se hacen”, y esto es porque, se atreve a quitarse todos los tabús de encima y crea a un Hitler carismático, nos muestra una guerra como si esta fuese una fantasía, poco a poco nos va destruyendo el racismo de los personajes de forma orgánica y bien planteada. La película SI peca de ser muy inocente a veces, pero cuando deja de serlo, nos da un choque de contraste que no te esperas, casi gritándonos a la cara “así era la guerra, aquí no hay buenos bandos, aquí hay buenas personas”, y eso fue lo que más me encariñó a la película, la capacidad de ser imparcial y mostrarnos de forma muy sutil muchas cosas, como la amistad, el amor de una madre, la capacidad de ser buena persona, de mejorar y de querer el bien ajeno.
