Many times we do not have the time to watch a complete anime so sometimes, and at least I do, we can choose to watch one of the movies that complement the story either in the form of sequel or prequel and based on it we decide if we give a chance to the anime in question. Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, this story I told you about this week, is one of the top and most complete I have seen despite the short anime and I was telling you that it has only 1 season of 12 chapters. To that we should add this movie that comes divided into three episodes of about 25 minutes approximately. So, is it possible to watch this first and then choose to watch the anime? - I would say yes.
Muchas veces no tenemos el tiempo necesario para ver un anime completo por lo que a veces y que por lo menos yo lo hago, podemos optar por ver una de las películas que complementan la historia ya sea en forma de secuela o precuela y con base en ella decidimos si le damos una oportunidad al anime en cuestión. Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, esta historia de la que les hablé esta semana, es una de las más top y completas que he visto a pesar de lo corto del anime y les decía que tiene tan solo 1 temporada de 12 capítulos. A eso habría que sumarle esta película que viene dividida en tres episodios de unos 25 minutos aproximadamente. Entonces, se puede ver esto primero para después optar ver el anime? - yo diría que sí.
In case you didn't read the review, I'll explain it briefly. In this world there are three beings: the Kabane (zombies with their hearts covered in iron), the humans and the Kabaneri (a kind of hybrid between humans and these zombies). The fight is against the Kabane, these creatures that seem to learn habits and skills over time and are not the typical wandering zombies without any kind of intelligence. This film takes place almost two years after the events of the anime, when it was thought that much of the Kabane threat had been eradicated as it turns out that there is one last bastion to be recovered.
Por si no leiste la reseña te la explico brevemente. En este mundo hay tres seres: los Kabane (zombies con el corazón cubierto de hierro), los humanos y los Kabaneri (una especie de híbridos entre humanos y estos zombies). La lucha es contra los Kabane, estas criaturas que parecen que con el pasar del tiempo aprenden hábitos, habilidades y no son los típicos zombies errantes sin ningún tipo de inteligencia. Este film se desarrolla casi dos años después de los sucesos del anime, cuando se pensaba que se había erradicado gran parte de la amenaza de los Kabane pues resulta que queda un último bastión por ser recuperado.
Mumei, Ikoma and company will be in charge of this task so we will again witness great fights and action sequences. The good thing about this movie is that for those who have not seen the anime, they are constantly releasing small flashbacks to understand some things, obviously the real reason is to refresh the memory a little but as I said I think you can watch this movie even if you have not seen anything previous. One of the great features of this plot is that it is very human, everything is based on the fear of people and how thanks to it they move and behave. Fear leads to anger and hatred, feelings that will also be protagonists again.
Mumei, Ikoma y compañía serán los encargados de dicha tarea por lo que volveremos a presenciar grandes peleas y secuencias de acción. Lo bueno de esta película es que para aquellos que no hayan visto el anime constantemente van lanzando pequeños flashbacks para que se entiendan algunas cosas, obviamente la razón real es para refrescar un poco la memoria pero como dije creo que esta película la pueden así no hayan visto nada previo. De las grandes características de esta trama es que es muy humana, todo se basa en el miedo de las personas y como gracias a él estas se mueven y se comportan. El miedo lleva a la ira y al odio, sentimientos que también volverán a ser protagonistas.
If you ask me if this movie was necessary, I would say no; not because it is bad, the film is amazing, but because I feel that it does not contribute much to the effects of how the anime ended, I would have preferred a second season if they wanted to do something new so badly. What we do see are more mature characters, it seems that they are not as impulsive as in the anime and that makes the film not so “childish” or at least that's how I perceived it. I really like how they always include a family tragedy in the plot, another of their hallmarks. Here again we see sadness and helplessness and what someone can be capable of for another person.
Si uds me preguntan si esta película era necesaria les diría que no; no porque sea mala ni mucho menos, el film es increíble sino porque siento que no aporta mucho a los efectos de cómo había terminado el anime, hubiese preferido una segunda temporada si tantas ganas tenían de hacer algo nuevo. Lo que si vemos son unos personajes más maduros, pareciera que no son tan impulsivos como en el anime y eso hace que el film no sea tan "infantil" o por lo menos así lo percibí yo. Eso si, me gusta mucho como siempre incluyen en la trama una tragedia familiar, otro de los sellos. Acá nuevamente veremos tristeza e impotencia y de lo que puede ser capaz alguien por otra persona.
The film maintains the gore and violence of the anime, which I'm happy about because when accompanied by the great animation it has, they complement each other perfectly; in fact I would dare to say that maybe I saw some slight improvements in the visuals. To say this is a lot because in itself the anime is impressive but it gave me that feeling. The use of CGI is very good, there are times when we see some 3D which is really top to appreciate, it's a little darker than the anime and still looks great. Honestly as much as you look for something bad I doubt you will find it, another reason to give this film a chance.
La película mantiene el gore y la violencia del anime cosa me alegra porque al ser acompañada por la gran animación que tiene hace que se complementan a la perfección; de hecho me atrevería a decir que quizás vi unas ligeras mejoras en lo visual. Decir esto es mucho porque de por si el anime es impresionante pero me dio esa sensación. El uso de CGI es muy bueno, hay veces que vemos algo de 3D que la verdad es muy top de apreciar, es un poco más oscura que el anime y aún así se ve de diez. Honestamente por más que busquen algo malo dudo que lo encuentren, otra razón más darle un chance a este film.
The antagonist of this film, which to me he isn't, he's just a person in a lot of pain since he was betrayed, has a very interesting story and seeing how it ends and the way it does helps make the film deeper and more emotional. The relationship between Mumei and Ikoma takes hold a bit, those bonds are closer than ever given the promise between the two. The ending is one you might expect, zero surprises. Now, I would think a second season should be coming, this movie to me was filler, no news on that but hopefully it will ever happen.
El antagonista de esta película, que para mi no lo es, solo que es una persona con un dolor muy grande ya que fue traicionado, tiene una historia muy interesante y ver como termina y la forma en la que lo hace ayuda a que el film sea más profundo y emocional. La relación entre Mumei e Ikoma se afianza un poco, esos lazos están más unidos que nunca dada la promesa que hay entre los dos. El final es uno que se pudiera esperar, cero sorpresas. Ahora, yo creería que debería de venir una segunda temporada, esta película para mi fue relleno, no hay noticias de eso pero esperemos que alguna vez pase.
Anyway, if you haven't seen this anime and want to know a little of what it's about, you can watch this movie without problems. You might get a spoiler or two, but nothing serious. Highly recommended, the film is very good along with its animation and the way it tells the stories. A great anime that should be seen by all fans of this world. I'm probably coming late to the environment of this anime but I'd rather that than never. This story is from 2016, not so long ago really, but the thing is that it's so good and it's recommended so much that makes me think that many around here maybe already took a look at it. There is something that must be said first: the resemblance with Shingeki no Kyojin is remarkable in every way, in its story, plot, motivation and character construction; this does not mean that it is a copy, obviously it is not but to what we saw SnK or at least to me, if it is something that caught my attention. After you finish it you understand that the amount of anime that are like these is immense so it is natural the resemblance.
Muy probablemente estoy llegando tarde al entorno de este anime pero prefiero eso a que nunca. Esta historia es del 2016, no hace mucho la verdad, pero el tema es que es tan bueno y lo recomiendan tanto que me hace pensar que muchos por acá a lo mejor ya la dieron un vistazo. Hay algo que se debe de decir primero: el parecido con Shingeki no Kyojin es notable en todos los sentidos, en su historia, trama, motivación y construcción de personajes; esto no quiere decir que sea una copia, obviamente no lo es pero a lo que vimos SnK o por lo menos a mi, si es algo que me llamó la atención. Después que la terminas entiendes que la cantidad de animes que son como estos es inmensa por lo que es natural el parecido.
This is an action anime within the steampunk genre where we are shown pure and simple survival. It turns out that the world is plagued by creatures called “Kabane” which are nothing more than a kind of zombies with a heart covered with iron, that is, impenetrable to a conventional weapon. This has caused people to live in “stations”, cities surrounded by large walls and connected by railways on which large trains called “Koutetsujou” move. In them people travel between stations depending on their needs and the threats of these beings.
Esto es un anime de acción dentro del género del steampunk en donde nos muestra la supervivencia pura y dura. Resulta que el mundo está plagado de unas criaturas llamados "Kabane" que no son otra cosa que una especie de zombies con un corazón recubierto de hierro, es decir, impenetrables para un arma convencional. Esto ha hecho que las personas vivan en "estaciones", ciudades rodeadas por grandes murallas y conectadas por vías férreas sobre las cuales se mueven grande trenes llamados "Koutetsujou". En ellos las personas viajan entre estaciones dependiendo de sus necesidades y de las amenazas de estos seres.
Ikoma and Mumei are the main characters. Both are a kind of hybrid, half human, half kabane which make them incredibly strong and with great abilities. They have a human mind and decide to be on the side of the people. Basically the story is the journey of a small town between one station and another where they will have to face different obstacles, among them another human, Biba, who has a different vision of things and the world and who will try to impose himself by being as cruel as he can be. I can honestly tell you that this has been one of the best anime I have seen in a long time, I have seen several but this one caught me from episode one, it is really good.
Ikoma y Mumei son los grandes protagonistas. Ambos son una especie de híbrido, mitad humanos, mitad kabane los cuales los hacen increíblemente fuertes y con grandes habilidades. Ellos al tener mente humana deciden estar del lado de las personas. Basicamente la historia es el viaje de un pequeño pueblo entre una estación y otra en donde tendrán que hacer frente a diferentes obstáculos, entre ellos otro humano, Biba, quien tiene una visión distinta de las cosas y del mundo y que buscará imponerse siendo lo más cruel que se pueda ser. Honestamente les puedo decir que este ha sido uno de los mejores anime que he visto en mucho tiempo, he visto varios pero este me atrapó desde el episodio uno, es realmente bueno.
The plot is cool because it has many twists and turns, there is always a challenge to overcome. If it's not the kabane, it's the fear and hatred of the people, the mistrust that grows between them in the face of precisely that fear makes us see how humans can really become in complicated situations. These anime tend to be very emotional because the engine of most of the characters are feelings, Ikoma's is the fear of not disappointing and not letting anyone else die and Mumei's is the desire to live in a world where freedom and tranquility of the little things is guaranteed. Beyond the action, which there is plenty of, we also have those reflective moments that soften anyone.
La trama es cool porque da muchos vuelcos, siempre hay un desafío que superar. Si no son lo kabane, es el miedo y el odio de las personas, la desconfianza que va creciendo entre ellos ante precisamente ese miedo hace que veamos como pueden llegar a ser realmente los humanos en situaciones complicadas. Estos anime tienden a ser muy emocionales porque el motor de la mayoría de los personajes son sentimientos, el de Ikoma es el miedo a no defraudar y no dejar morir a nadie más y el de Mumei es el de querer vivir en un mundo en donde la libertad y la tranquilidad de las pequeñas cosas esté garantizada. Más allá de la acción que la hay y bastante también tenemos esos momentos reflexivos que ablandan a cualquiera.
Being zombies it goes without saying that if someone is bitten by them they end up turning into Kabane, another reason for fear. Ikoma is different because he knew how to contain that “virus” and Mumei was forcibly converted but you will see that in the anime. The animation is a luxury, but a great one. The level we see in the fight sequences, the fluidity, the colors, the level of detail is very well achieved; I don't want to sound repetitive but visually it's a spectacle. Obviously we have a lot of gore, blood, violence reigns when you fight against creatures that are looking to kill you. This makes, as I said, we see some cruelty, there are very epic scenes and others that are difficult to see because of the degree of emocional they have.
Al ser zombies está de más decir que si alguien es mordido por ellos se termina convirtiendo en Kabane, otro motivo para el miedo. Ikoma es distinto porque supo contener ese "virus" y Mumei fue convertida a la fuerza pero eso lo verán en el anime. La animación es un lujo, pero uno grande. El nivel que vemos en las secuencias de pelea, la fluidez, los colores, el nivel de detalles está muy bien logrado; no quiero sonar repetitivo pero visualmente es un espectáculo. Obviamente tenemos mucho gore, sangre, la violencia impera cuando luchas contra unas criaturas que lo que buscan es matarte. Esto hace que, como ya dije, veamos cierta crueldad, hay escenas muy épicas y otras que son difíciles de ver por el grado de emocional que tienen.
And finally we have the characters. I think this is another of the added values of the anime. They all contribute what is necessary for the story to be deep and to reach the viewer. Friendship, family love, self-love, solidarity, empathy, will; are some of the traits that we will see in the people who make life in this plot. There are top characters: Kurusu, a samurai with a lot of honor, Ayame who is the leader of this town and a person with infinite kindness and Takumi who is the friend we all would like to have. Ikoma and Mumei are the axis of everything, both with an infallible determination plus everything I mentioned before.
Y para finalizar tenemos a los personajes. Creo que es otro de los valores agregados del anime. Todos aportan lo necesario para que la historia sea profunda y que llegue más al espectador. Amistad, amor familiar, amor propio, solidaridad, empatía, voluntad; son algunos de los rasgos que veremos en las personas que hacen vida en esta trama. Hay personajes top: Kurusu, un samurai con mucho honor, Ayame quien es la líder de este pueblo y una persona con una bondad infinita y Takumi quien es el amigo que todos quisiéramos tener. Ikoma y Mumei son el eje de todo, ambos con una determinación infalible más todo lo que les comenté antes.

Watching anime full of battles and interesting stories is great, a week ago my son chose an anime to watch and I was hooked watching it because its plot, animation and music enchanted me, although it deals with a topic let's say that trite, but in many cases depending on the way in which they raise it can catch us zombies.
Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri/ Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
This anime places us in the industrial era on the island of Hinoto, Japan during which a plague gave rise to the kabane, zombies that have a special feature, after becoming their hearts, their only weak point, is covered with a strong layer of iron, also these kabane are not slow or dumb, They are quite aggressive and intelligent, some manage to use weapons, others merge with each other to become stronger and sometimes when they see that they kill others of their species or group, they become more violent, besides being tempted by the smell of blood which attracts them.
After this crisis the humans were forced to take refuge in train stations fortified with great walls, and manage to find food, weapons and other supplies, using the railroad tracks, but a locomotive is taken by a group of kabane and bursts into the Aragane station, to which a young girl has arrived with what appears to be a priest in the midst of the chaos the priest is bitten and asks the young girl named Mumei to continue alone.
On the other hand, we have Ikoma a young man of about 16 years who lives in Aragan station and with his friend Takumi try to study remains of kabane to develop weapons and defend themselves, Ikoma is obsessed by the subject, because as a child he lost his sister after an attack of kabanes; so in the midst of chaos at the station, Ikoma is bitten, but manages to keep his brain is not affected by the virus, so he manages to maintain his humanity and control his body.
Now, after boarding the train, Ikoma's secret is discovered and he is thrown off the train, but he still clears the way and opens the doors so that the train can leave the station city. His friend Takumi and others put him back on the train, but the frightened people want to kill him and throw him off the train again, but Mumei, who opened the way for them to reach the train and evacuate, shows them that his heart is like Ikoma's and lets them know that they are Kabaneri, a hybrid between human and kabane.
Basically, this anime is showing us the battles along the way to find another station to take shelter and rescuing others along the way, as well as discovering and sharing ways to defend themselves from the kabame.
As well as how Mumei thanks to his dealings with humans realizes how much he had forgotten about his human side, as expected there is an antagonist who is the least expected person although there are hints of the kind of person he really is, as well as reminding us how humans attack what we don't understand or value.
This anime of 12 chapters, is available on Prime Video in Japanese with subtitles and also has a sequel, its name Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen, which narrates the events after a year and a half has passed after chapter 12, it is available on the Netflix platform in different languages and has 3 interesting chapters.
Finishing, the strengths of this or these anime is its animation the details of the train stations of some of the characters that you notice give more brightness and detail of the main ones, you will see differences between the skin colors of the kabaneri for having been created in different ways, plus more elegance among the nobles, samurai and some nobles or characters that need to be highlighted, the music was created for the anime, it is also very present that honor so rooted in Japanese culture that always gives that unique touch.

Ver animes cargados de batallas y con historias interesantes es genial, hace una semana mi hijo eligió un anime para ver y yo quede enganchada viéndolo porque su trama, animación y música me encanto, aunque trata de un tema digamos que trillado, pero que en muchos casos dependiendo de forma en la que lo planteen nos puede atrapar los zombis.
Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri/ Kabaneri de la Fortaleza de Hierro
Este anime nos ubica en la era industrial en la isla de Hinoto, Japón durante la cual una plaga dio origen a los kabane, zombis que tienen una característica especial, tras convertirse sus corazones, su único punto débil, se cubre con una fuerte capa de hierro, además estos kabane no son lentos o tontos, son bastante agresivos e inteligentes, algunos logran usar armas otros se fusionan entre si, para hacerse más fuertes y a veces al ver que matan a otros de su especie o grupo, se tornan en más violentos, además de ser tentados por el olor de la sangre la cual los atrae.
Tras esta crisis los humanos se vieron obligados a refugiarse en estaciones de trenes fortificadas con grandes murallas, y logran enconar alimentos, armas y otros suministros, usando las vías férreas, pero una locomotora es tomada por un grupo de kabane e irrumpe en la estación de Aragane, a la cual ha llegado una joven con lo que parece ser un sacerdote en medio del caos el sacerdote es mordido y le pide a la jovencita de nombre Mumei que continúe sola.
Por otra parte, tenemos a Ikoma un joven de unos 16 años que vive en la estación de Aragan y junto a su amigo Takumi tratan de estudiar restos de kabane para desarrollar armas y defenderse, Ikoma está obsesionado por el tema, porque cuando era niño perdió a su hermana tras un ataque de kabanes; asi en medio del caos en la estación, Ikoma es mordido, pero logra que su cerebro no sea afectado por el virus, por lo que logra mantener su humanidad y controlar su cuerpo.
Ahora bien, tras abordar el tren, el secreto de Ikoma es descubierto por lo que es arrojado del tren, pero aun así él despeja el camino y abre las puertas para que el tren logre salir de la ciudad estación. Su amigo Takumi junto a otros lo suben de nuevo al tren, pero la gente asustada desea matarlo y arrojarlo nuevamente del tren, pero Mumei quien abrió camino para que llagaran al tren y evacuar les muestra que su corazón es como el de Ikoma y les hace saber a los presentes que ellos son Kabaneri, un híbrido entre humano y kabane.
Básicamente, este anime nos va mostrando las batallas a lo largo de un camino para encontrar otra estación donde refugiarse y rescatando a otros en el camino, además de descubrir y compartir maneras para defenderse de los kabame.
Así mismo como Mumei gracias a su trato con humanos se da cuenta de cuanto había olvidado de su parte humana, como es de esperarse hay un antagonista que es la persona menos pensada aunque hay indicios de la clase de quien es realmente, además de recordarnos como los seres humanos atacamos lo que no comprendemos o valoramos.
Este anime de 12 capítulos, está disponible en Prime Video en japonés con subtítulos y además cuenta con una secuela, su nombre Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen, la cual narra los hechos luego de que ha pasado año y medio después del capítulo 12, está se encuentra disponible en la plataforma Netflix en diferentes idiomas y tiene 3 capítulos interesantes.
Terminando, los fuertes de este o estos animes es su animación los detalles de las estaciones de tren de algunos de los personajes que se nota le dan más brillo y detalle de los principales, verán diferencias entre los colores de piel de los kabaneri por haber sido creados de diferentes formas, además de más elegancia entre los nobles, samurái y algunos nobles o personajes que necesitan ser resaltados, la música fue creada para el anime, además está muy presente ese honor tan arraigado en la cultura japonesa que siempre le da ese toque único.

Also, it's very good at making you understand the different circumstances that these people who are locked up go through.... The animation is exceptional, it has very colorful strokes and they make every scene feel like a moving illustration, it's very nice to watch, although they have some 3D, CGI type scenes, they are not many actually, and mostly they are designed to show some things that are difficult to animate by hand.

El día de hoy les quiero compartir una nueva reseña, esta vez les voy a hablar de un anime muy interesante que tal vez conozcan o tal vez no, en el momento que se estrenó fue comparado con otro famoso anime, pero siento que en cierta parte tiene su propia esencia que lo distingue. Se trata de Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, este anime te transporta a un Japón con un estilo steampunk que está plagado de peligros y es acechado por criaturas aterradoras.. la historia comienza cuando una plaga que transforma a las personas en Kabanes llega, son una especie de zombies, pero tienen sus corazones protegidos por una especie de jaula de acero y fuego, lo que los hace extremadamente difíciles de matar.
Los sobrevivientes se refugian en ciudades amuralladas conectadas por trenes fuertemente armados, los cuales son su única esperanza de transporte seguro entre estos bastiones.. en este mundo extraño conoceremos a Ikoma, el protagonista, este chico es un joven ingeniero que trabaja en la estación, reparando algunos trenes y está trabajando en una pistola a presión que puede llegar a perforar los corazones de los Kabanes. Sin embargo, un día un ataque inesperado de una de estas criaturas lo cambia todo, ya que una logra morderlo.. en un desesperado intento por salvarse, evita que el virus llegue a su cerebro y esto lo convierte en un Kabaneri, un híbrido entre humano y Kabaneri. Una de las cosas que realmente destacan de esta serie es su ambientación, siento que todo este mundo está muy bien construido, aunque tiene similitudes con otras obras, este atributo de los trenes blindados añaden una capa extra de mucha intriga y emoción.
Además, es muy bueno haciéndote entender las diferentes circunstancias por las que pasan estas personas que están encerradas... La animación es excepcional, tiene trazos muy coloridos y hacen que cada escena se sienta como una ilustración en movimiento, es muy lindo de ver, aunque tienen algunas escenas en 3D, del tipo CGI, no son muchas en realidad, y más que nada están diseñadas para mostrar algunas cosas que son difíciles de animar a mano.

Also, the opening is amazing, it's one of my favorites, and even after so many years, I remember it perfectly and from time to time I listen to it.. among other things I liked about this series is its cast of characters, Ikoma is a protagonist that I found quite interesting, although his goal of eliminating all the Kabanes can be a bit simplistic, and I think this is the main reason why he is compared a lot with Eren, since these two characters have that goal of “eliminate them all” that can get to be confused with something simple.
But even with this, I feel that his evolution and the way he interacts with the other characters make him very endearing, he is not a copy of Eren at all, their personalities are very different, and I really appreciate this. On the other hand, Mumei, the other Kabaneri, is a very interesting character as well, she has a mysterious past, and the way she fights the Kabaneri is impressive... she is the classic powerful character, that is always in anime, and mostly enjoyable to watch, her development throughout the series and her relationship with Ikoma, are central elements that keep the viewers interest.
The rest of the cast also seems diverse to me, we have the leader of the train, who is a noble aristocracy who cares deeply about her people.. we have the protagonist's best friend, who is always willing to defend him and stand up against any injustice, among many more.... I feel that each character brings something unique to the story, making the group feel like a true community that supports each other and always wants to bring out the best in each other.

El resto del reparto también me parece diverso, tenemos a la líder del tren, que es una aristocracia noble que se preocupa profundamente por su gente.. tenemos al mejor amigo del protagonista, que siempre está dispuesto a defenderlo y enfrentarse a cualquier injusticia, entre muchos más.. Siento que cada personaje aporta algo único a la historia, haciendo que el grupo se sienta como una verdadera comunidad que se apoya mutuamente y siempre quiere sacar lo mejor de sí.
