  1. Mobland (2025): Helter Skelter - S01E08 - RECAP@skiptvads393d

    Source

Mobland has turn into this filling in space series for me on sundays, either to warm up before catching up on other series or waiting latter for the day on The Last of Us or TWD Dead City, but the truth is that if it didn't exist I think I wouldnt mind. Episode 8 titled Helter Skelter dropped on Sunday morning as usual and it did felt like watching a chess match where every player thinks they are three moves ahead but nobody actually knows what game they are playing anymore specially Conrad with the only one with his eyes wide open is Harry. The episode starts with the results of Brendan’s brutal death and Saraphina’s rescue but what we get is this slow burn psychological warfare that had me questioning everyone’s motives by the end and its always the same thing with this series. This episode might not have the explosive action sequences some of the previous ones used to but it’s packed with some of the most sneaky betrayals and manipulation setting up for a ridiculous finale, I say this because Im honestly not sure how good it will be. Harry’s relationship with Cat Mallister becomes the main focus and honestly this is NOT Tom Hardy best work although its not his fault its mainly because of the script and his character that is probably a cyborg and not a human just following ridiculous orders, showing a man playing multiple sides while trying to protect his family but it feels he is getting in bed with the devil, talking about bed Im starting to think Eddie is Conrad son you know, after Maeve love him so much and now Conrad telling Bella to not forget who owns her, its a very sick situation. I doubt this series is going to have more than two or three seasons since soon we will have a few of the characters having to choose between loyalty and survival.
Source The episode starts with Conrad and Maeve mourning Brendan's death and it feels genuine even though they both sick to their head, some of the most genuine tears since the series started from this two characters, they were making memory about his birth and all the plans they had for him and for a brief moment you kinda forget how bad parents they were and how they constantly treated him while he was alive, Brendan was the trash of the family, not worth of their organization. After all this drama we get lovely Seraphina back, damn that girl is hot; she is back at Costwolds but she is completely broken and blaming herself for her brother's death even though Kevin tries to confort her by that there was nothing she could have done about it, she had no idea of what was going down at home with the Stevensons. Now the really dark side of this scene is when Maeve brings Seraphina in like this lovely step mother, its like watching a vyper getting twisted around your arm and getting close to your neck just to keep going into your other arm, have no idea at first what was that move about, probably to look like she is moved as any other one in the family to avoid been connected to what really happen. Truth is that it was a setup as Maeve sedate Seraphina and then came down saying she heard Seraphina talking about she been number one while sleeping like she was the one who leak the information to Richie, it wouldnt be crazy if Maeve silently kills Seraphina and that gets reveal latter on. Source Source The whole situation with Harry's connection to Cat Mallister is also getting more suspicious, when Conrad and Kevin question how he managed to secure Saraphina, Harry drops the bomb that he contacted Cat but his answers were a bit vague and evasive like he doesnt want to tell exactly how he knows her and why, this fuels more suspicion about his true loyalty and whether he is planning something behind the scenes to either save his ass or remain loyal to Conrad, not sure. Harry's confrontation with Eddie was probably one of my favorite scenes in the entire episode and to be hones very unexpected because it shows just how calculated and strategic Harry really is, Eddie thinks he is this untouchable guy within the family because he's involved with Gina now and he's all arrogant and obnoxious but times 10 with Harry, the moment they start talking Harry completely disarms him by pretending not to care as long as Eddie respects Gina's feelings, its easy to identify Harry didn't give Eddie what he was looking for. But then Harry promise that he'll help Eddie rise to power just so he can push him off the top, which absolutely terrifies Eddie and expose Harry's long term planning, he is not just reacting emotionally to the situation but thinking several moves ahead like a chess master. After all Eddie might actually be Conrad's son rather than Kevin's adds another bowl of pop corn to the Melrose Place of a family this is, sorry for going too 90s on you. If thats the case then why Maeve has this favoritism towards Eddie while she despises Seraphina, both of whom are supposedly Conrad's bastard children, is Maeve racist?. Source Source Harry's meeting with Freddy in the parking garage was intense no doubt although very predictable, he's trying to get information about the final deal between Richie and Jaime but Freddy pulls a gun on him because he wants out now that there is too much heat, but Harry is always steps ahead of everyone on the series on top that they respect him just too much, he got Zoa and Kiko on kill mode if something goes wrong. Harry learns that the final shipment is coming from Holland, that Archie wasn't betraying Conrad and there was something else that drives him into such a rage that he throws Freddy off the roof, either this could be Harry leaving no loose ends into his plan or wtf is going on because sometimes things on this series happens just because, out of thin air. The fact that Harry contacts Cat again and offers her 50% of the profits from a potential deal between the Harrigan and Jaime, without Conrad's approval shows how he might be going off the leach making his own power moves to survive but will he remain loyal? thats the big question as he now accept to Conrad that now he ows Cat, on top Cat reminds him he doesnt owes her one but two favors.

On a very subtle at first but dangerous event there is the introduction of Tattersol played by Toby Jones was a full blown Trojan Horse from Richie, basically a mole within the Police, he's supposed to be helping Fisk and Macasa with their investigation but his long history with Richie dating back to 1976 is a major red flag and on a sick move from Tattersol ends with both Fisk and Macasa dead, suggesting that Tattersol is still working for Richie and just eliminated two obstacles in one move.

There are still a lot of loose ends and cliff hangers so the series might not die after a single season besides the ratings are ok although not great, all whats going on tend to be the opening for a chaotic ending of season one with Harry no longer just cleaning up shit for the Harrigans but now making deals, but also puts the crown on Eddie and in a very old fashion probably trade his daughter to seal the deal? TF!! what a boss to be honest if thats his move. Cat Mallister might turn into his partner as she gets more power with every favor Harry owes her, so this is the beginning of a coup against the family that Harry is suppose to protect?. As you can tell there is a lot going on without forgetting about Tattersol alliance with Richie, if Im not mistaken Richie even call him son, the amount of betrayals that soon going to happen will be massive to completely shift the direction of the story and I wonder how and where Harry is going to land on the board. Been honest the series after not showing much context of why things happen from time to time does have some good scenes and sneaky secrets between each other, talking about secrets what about Kevin and the guard who rape him? he pay his wife a visit at the nurse house looking for him. The series is putting Harr as someone who can end the Harrigans now with Cat on his good side pulling the strings while Conrand and Maeve still think they are in control specially in control of Harry.

  2. Mobland (2025): The Crossroads - S01E07 - RECAP@skiptvads402d

    Source

Catching up with the content I still want to put out there is my Episode 7 of Mobland RECAP and I gotta say, this show continues to be one of those series that dances between potential greatness in front of you but never quite delivers, like seriously seven episodes in and the pacing still feels off, the characters still feel underdeveloped and the plot twists feel forced rather than earned, its like they're desperately trying to create a British version of The Sopranos but forgot to include what made that show great in the first place. Its the details, the evolution of the characters and the believable world building so it makes me wonder for how long this series will really run or is this a one season thing??. Instead what we get is a showcase for Tom Hardy to look intense and Pierce Brosnan to chew scenery with his over the top performance as Conrad.
Source This episode titled "The Crossroads" opens with Harry realizing he's too late to rescue Brendan and Seraphina from the warehouse in Antwerp, the kidnappers have taken them and left behind a super cliche "WAR" message written in blood, not very subtle at all btw, like the audience didnt know there is a war going on, this is the type of cliche things I often talk about from this series. We find out that the Moroccan gang El Youfsi has them, working for Jaime of the Mexican cartel, who's working for Richie and if that chain of command sounds over crowded and unnecessary, well its not so different on the Harrigans, welcome to Mobland. Sorry if I'm nagging too much but feels like nothing can be simple and straightforward, meanwhile Maeve continues to be the absolute worst pretending to be heartbroken about both her kidnapped children when she's actually the one who set Seraphina up to be killed, her call with Richie reveals that he's not honoring their deal to spare Brendan and watching her meltdown would be satisfying if the show had done a better job establishing her character beyond "evil stepmother stereotype" in previous episodes, its probably what kepts me watching when Conrad kills her or someone puts her under a lot of pain. Source Source The side storylines continue to feel disconnected with Eddie and Gina suddenly developing romantic feelings that come out of nowhere, Jan being manipulated by Alice without ever questioning why this woman suddenly wants to meet her hours away from London to what she agrees and sneak out of Costwold just like that? like she could outsmart the army looking after them. There is Bella ignoring Harry's advice about her shady business deal to screw her dad and Kevin obsessing over Rusby, an old guard from his juvenile detention days who rape him, none of these plotlines get enough screen time to feel meaningful and they're constantly interrupted by cutting to other scenes just when they might be getting interesting and thats the problem with neither giving the characters enough screen time or there side stories.

The most frustrating part is how oblivious Conrad is to Maeve's betrayal even when she refuses to show him a text from Richie about their children, COME ON!!! this guy is supposed to be this ruthless crime boss who's survived decades in the underworld but he can't see that his wife is playing him and ok Im fine with the story be like this is how their entire life has been but she is just going too far how, isnt she? Then there is this contrast between these fumbling subplots and Harry's action sequences is jarring, Tom Hardy gets to look cool taking down thugs while everyone else gets stuck in boring conversations that go nowhere, the action scenes themselves are well shot but they feel disconnected from the rest of the show almost like they belong to a different one like Harry can be a spin off or even a better series that I'd rather be watching instead.

Source Source The episode's climax involving Brendan and Seraphina tied up facing execution should be tense and emotional, but it's hard to care about characters the show hasn't given us reason to care about and I mention this a couple of episodes ago until they finally gave them something to work with, the Ruby deal but its like the series shut that down the moment it only took one episode to kidnap them after Brendan had this drama queen episode "THIS IS MY SHOW" for what Im so glad of his brutal death by chainsaw that feels more like shock value rather than a meaningful plot development because there is that he is dead and does that affect anyone? nop, and the last minute introduction of Cat Mallister as some uber powerful crime figure who can stop Mexican cartels with a phone call feels like lazy writing, it really feels like MI6 agents from 007 movies.
This episode highlighted everything thats been bothering me about Mobland from the beginning, the show wants us to care about these characters and their conflicts without putting in the work to make them less straight forward or their motivations believable, it wants to shock us with brutal violence and betrayals without earning those moments through careful storytelling, it wants to be taken seriously as a crime drama while relying on cliches and conveniences that undermine any sense of realism or stakes. The series seems be ok to coast and rely from the back of its cast stars rather than challenging them with a story worthy of their talents, Hardy is basically going through the motions as Harry, a character who seems to exist solely to look cool in action sequences and Brosnan's Conrad is all bossy and no substance, making speeches about his ruthlessness while being completely clueless about what's happening right under his roof, to be clear I don't hate Mobland I still watch it every Sunday which is why I had still give it a 7/10. I still believe the series still has enough to keep me watching because some, a little bit of the action is very entertaining and occasionally a performance breaks through the average bar they have set, but its frustrating to see a show with this much talent and budget consistently settling for being just okay when it could be great, maybe the finale will pull everything together in a satisfying way but after seven episodes of missed opportunities and half realized ideas my expectations are not so high.

  3. Mobland (2025): Antwerp Blues - S03E06 - RECAP@skiptvads410d

    dfSource

Now that we have finally gone into war I think the series is making more sense considering its episode 6 and a lot has happen before to this although there are still things that just happen ...because...and most of the time is around Harry, for example how he always have dirt on people, the guy at the hotel where Seraphina and Brendan were staying, how did Harry had dirt on the guy so fast?? this are the things that are a buzz killer when they start to pile up.

The episode was very dramatic and I like how within the family things are starting to crack up and the only one who seem to be loyal to the family core is Harry, it all comes from Maeve who doesn't give a fuck and acts alone because its bs Comrad gave the order to kill Vron, Kevin questioning Comrad in front of Harry, Seraphina and Brendan acting on their own at the family back. There some serious issues within the family and I'm wondering if eventually one of them will work with the police when they see against the wall or become a traitor, Maeve kinda betray Conrad on this very episode but I guess she has always act like that.

    Rottentomatoes Rating
Source I'm starting to enjoy more Richie as the "bad guy" not necessarily because he is all business and has been the aggressive one during the series but the character has gone through multiple though situations, first Tommy's death and right after it Vron, aside from going through all this traumatic deaths he is still firm and wanting to hang Conrad from the tallest three he can find.

There is also this "relationship" or deal Maeve does with Richie, attempting to get Seraphina killed since she hates her and use her as a Pawn on the ongoing war with the Stevensons, as she mention "giving him an olive branch" similar to a low hanging fruit to calm things down a bit after they taunt him over the phone but what is it that Maeve has or know about everyone that even Richie make deals with her? that is another of those things that just happen without much context and becomes annoying, also the part where Richie just tell them ..."run" that's very cliche and I felt they ran short of imaginations to come up with a better response from Richie, if I continue numbering the kind of things that just happen without much context is "the Mexicans", how on Earth do they have mercenaries on speed dial just like that from another country, it is also the case when Seraphina contacts and gets setup a hole squad of special security to protect her and Brendan when they closing on the Rubies deal? well at the end Lorenzo guys were out numbered, out gun and were worthless.

Source</str Source There is one bully or abusive aspect against women that Conrad has that I'm not liking so much, this time is just a bit too much against Harry's daughter, I wonder if he would imagine but Conrad was kinda the same with his wife Jan so it only makes me think how is Conrad with Bella? lets remember they use to be lovers before Bella marry Kevin, Cotswolds is a creepy place after all, people get killed, you got to basically bend over when you are under Conrad roof.

Besides Conrad shenanigans, we also got Bella and Jan on the same room, very funny when Harry arrives and talks to Bella...can we talk...basically telling Jan she is not invited to the conversation, then how Bella reminds Harry he works for the family there for he works for her when he ask Bella to put a pin on her business with Antoine until the get the shit show over, but what really cracks me up is when Harry is getting into the helicopter on his way to bring back Seraphina and Brendan as Conrad ask him to and Bella is watching through the window and tells to Jan's face "damn isn't that the sexiest thing" LOL for Jan to answer not anymore, Bella has a taste for badass guys probably why she hit it on with Conrad in the first place, when they are at Cotswolds crazy things happen, just look at poor Arch got smoke on episode 1.

Source Source I'm rely starting to enjoy how the series is developing more the characters of Seraphina and Brendan, giving more context on how she does business, for the most part she has been describe as this sharp business woman who launders money for the family and she is Conrad's little princess. On episode 6 we can see her in action, from telling Brendan how things going to go down from start to finish, doing the negotiations, not taking the bait to put a deposit before the deal gets down and telling the merchant to fuck off only to wait until they counteroffer and at the same time already getting a security squad to be "heavily" protected at all times during the deal.

On the other hand Brendan is such a looser and even had this drama queen moment when Harry calls Lorenzo to get their location only for Brendan to tell him to fuck off and screams at Seraphine telling her this is his show, that scene didn't make much sense with everything she has done before because she decides to shut up and continue with the deal when during the hole time she has been dictating the rules of the game, I guess she felt she was too invested hiring Lorenzo who ask her for 8% of the $2M amount of the deal.

The episode close with Lorenzo's crew and the merchant crew getting smoked by "The Mexicans" who arrive after Richie sends them, all this happening thanks to Maeve to throw Seraphine into the fire to calm down things with Richie, but the greatest part is the cliff hanger of how the fck Harry is going to pull this job when been out number heavily, him arriving at full speed on a stolen bike, damn that was a cool close to the episode.

Probably one of the best episodes in my opinion because we finally at war, the mask is off and things starting to escalate, we finally see someone dealing, this time it was Seraphine who in my opinion is so fkn hot. I didn't like so much the beginning when they start to talk shit to Richie specially Eddie and Conrad, besides why was Conrad hammered during that scene? is he scared of whats going to happen next? usually ppl start drinking that hard when they are stress out, to numb out and handle things better.

The episode also integrates all the Harringas better including Harry's family, everyone in a single place adding something to the episode and the clash or team up between some of them, like Maeve teaming with Eddie, Kevin teaming up with Harry to try to question Conrad but Harry knows his place as a soldier, Bella indirectly clashing against Jan like bitch how you dont fuck Harry's brains out he is so hot....and then creepy Conrad going at Harry's wife and daughter. I'm still waiting to see more development on the Stevensons side of the story although I would understand if the series is about the Harrigans but then why call it Mobland and not Harrigans Mobs? Idk its just that I think would be better if they series expands further than just the Harrigans.

  4. Mobland (2025): Funeral for a Friend - S03E04 - RECAP@skiptvads416d

    Source

2025 its been a great year for content on the TV series side, so far not so much on movies not like 2024; Mobland started as a series that might introduce something new with the hole British gangster theme, a more modern one than what we are use to watch, but even though there is a lot of explosions and some fights here and there it still doesn't feel like a tier one series, something as hard as "Peaky Blinders", for that I believe its a watchable series and probably its the lack of context that makes me feel like this on every other episode, some are good some are better but nothing that really strikes, yes there are wow moments like the end of this episode but after the obvious I ask myself but how did all this started? or is the series created with the purpose of just attracting the audience that is only chasing dopamine rush?

Episode 5 is the proof that women on Mobland has way more power than men, it is the case of Maeve who puts on a hit on Vron after been humiliated in front of other women at Tommy's funeral. Comrad once told Maeve "dont forget I'm the judge" but if she really gave the order to kill Vron, Comrad threat didn't age well. Lets see where this all takes us because now Richie not only lost his son but now also lost his trophy wife, there is nothing worst that can be done to a gangster that killing his wife or kids, that is a clear declaration of war, Maeve is wild and I only wonder at what point she is going to get Eddie in action if he ever will, there is the question if Maeve really told Eddie to kill Tommy.

    Rottentomatoes Rating
Source Well I already drop the beans on how the episode ends and its fine because I dont think this would be a series ppl are waiting for the season to end, with only 74% on RTT either a lot of ppl dont even know this series exist or its not that good. By now we know Maeve has more power over the family than Comrad himself, this could be the breaking point many might think but been realistic they have been together for a long time so this for sure has happen in the past.

From both sides, Comrad and Richie, none of them want to pull the trigger first, it is the case on how Comrad calls in everyone from the family who is involve in the business, leaving Brendan and Seraphina out. In the case of Brendan he once lost a lot of money on a deal he was working on for the family and after that has been banned for life and Seraphina well she not Maeve daughter so its just obvious that she is not welcome at Costwold but Comrad still has love for her. Everyone else is at Costwold to discuss if its safe to go to the funeral, here is when I think Comrad is more about making money than been wild, same goes to Richie even though bust sometimes just talk too much, I guess probably thats how it is once a gangster is settle and has a ton of power. What is curious about this episode is how Harry goes from been a possible informant as Maeve and Eddie were speculating to everyone going to the funeral because Harry says its fine, Comrad and everybody at that house put their faith in Harry. Lucky for them Harry is on their side, he even sneak guns and grenades at Richie's place after getting caught one of Richie's bodyguard and black mail him for fucking Vron, Richie's wife.

Source Source On their way to the funeral there were several scenes that will catch your attention, one on each of the cars from Comrad. There is Harry and his wife Jan who in my opinion have to go at some point but he loves her too much, Jan is scare to death because she knows what can go down at that funeral, Harry getting everyone to the funeral is a way to basically say "we have no fear because we didn't do anything", putting every one at risk at once. On Kevin's car there was a more interesting conversation going on, same topic, Kevin tells Bella to not worry and just say the word and he would take her out of there, the most common answer would be "take me home" although she asks what did Harry said? did Harry say its safe? almost like I dont give a sht about what you say Kevin, to make things worst for Kevin, Eddie jumps in asking "yeah what did Harry said?", zero respect for Kevin on the family not even on his own, that really made me laugh.

You dont have to be genius to understand that Richie wants to expose Comrad, I think his plan is to get him to go to Tommy's funeral as the maximum disrespect so he can have enough excuse to go after him but why now? Richie already blew up Kevin's house so I dont think there is any excuse necessary, unless he is doing this to paint Comrad as a traitor and potential snitch against their providers, basically him on a Checkmate situation.

At the funeral Eddie had to show off, he looks Richie straight to his face and said how sorry he was for his lost, same thing to Vron and even try to give her a kiss, Harry had to pull on him and he answers he was only trying to meet her, honestly its the first time that I felt cool with Eddie for been so savage, for the most part he does feel like Joffrey from GOT.

Source Source Richie's wife, Vron; is the classic gorgeous trophy wife, way younger than Richie and a bratt too, the total opposite to Maeve who is the same age or older than Comrad but as fierce as him. Clearly both gangster wife are out of their leach, on one side there is Vron who though he is just too powerful for anyone to do something against her but she is just stupid, they already killed their son, with more reason others would have the balls to go against them. Vron dare to disrespect Maeve in front of a group of her friends, even saying how does Comrad even fuck her and that Richie knows the truth, the end result is Maeve calling a guy name Luca who I assume setup a bomb on Vron's car, the event was too predictable but at the same time felt good, really intensifying the chaos between the families and probably open the door for war. It was probably Vron saying Richie knows the truth what gave Maeve that final push to kill her, almost saying like we going to war anyways.

Brendan and Seraphina characters have a bit of more development on this episode, Brendan in the past try to get her to jump ship with her but she puts him a stop right away, this was a strategic pause before she asks Comrad how to proceed, to what he said just listen to him but do not commit to anything. Brendan asks her for 1 hour of her time for lunch and talk about this deal he is brewing, she accepts to listen to what he has to say although the offer is really wack, what caught her attention was the possibility of getting a nice cut out of it going up to 75%, reason why she push so much is because Brendan is trying to deal ruby from Mozambique but it seems she knows where are this coming from based on a ruby Brendan show her and even knowing who is the buyer, this can be a strategy to put Brendan against the wall before she talks to Comrad about it or this might be her just been greedy and trying to leave Brendan with crumbs since he is so desperate to do something that can put him back on a good word with Comrad.

Its really interesting to think how long they going to keep postponing war between both families, I though when Richie blew up Kevin house there was no way around it but they did, now "Maeve" blew up Vron's car so Richie is without a son and wife, this is mayor, I dont think they can stop it this time so its finally time for someone to take action and start killing people left and right. Then again I ask myself based on this five episodes if Mobland is a great series or just a great watch, a series that we most likely wont remember existed in the next five years.

What kept me thinking there is more to the series are the many threads developing like Bella and Harry romantic connection at least from Bella whenever she gets horny, making things worst would the though if Kevin and Harry will have a problem because of Bella, based on the first five episodes I would say no but how far will Jan keep pushing Harry into Bella's arms?. Bernard and Seraphine deal brewing is also interesting and I think it deserves more development, I hope they just dont kill the idea and let Bernard really screw up things for the family once again. Based on this arguments besides the war between families going on, I think there is way more to the series, considering this is only on the Harrigans side, what else is to develop on the Stevensons?, cool episode and I'm starting to like Eddie's savage attitude.

  5. Mobland (2025): Rat Trap - S03E04 - RECAP@skiptvads425d

    Source

Episode 4 of Mobland (2025) is proof that you don't need shooting and explosions to make a great mob series, although it still doesnt feel like a classic mob series as we are used to watch, similar to the movies, probably throws me off its based on UK and has that is British to the core, feels a bit James Bond Fancy too, after all Pierce Brosnan is in it.

This Sunday was a thick thick drama with family dark secrets that test loyalty on many fronts, father son loyalty, brothers in arms loyalty and even husband and wife loyalty. The hole Tommy murder turns into a secondary topic and dark secrets within the Harrigans start to unfold making Bella an even way more interesting character, its crazy how things change from one episode to another, in the middle of all this covering up for everyone is Harry. He has been dealing with Richie after he found his son Tommy chopped up and now waiting for Valjon to stay loyal even after all the pain Richie would put him through. Harry also had personal family matters in his hands plus with a bit of Maeve venom on top has become a problem to the point that Comrad himself paid a visit to Jan, Harry's wife to keep things within the family and never speak about Harry line of business with anyone.

Eventually Richie seem to have bought the story that Valjon didn't act in conjunction with the Harrigans and it was an isolated incident, while the big question of who the F tip out where Archie body was buried seem to be unfolding, the cops are all over Harrigans.

    Rottentomatoes Rating
Source Before I drop the bomb of how Bella connects Maeve, Comrad, Kevin and Harry, oh men this women carry some heat between her legs. Harry pays a visit to Antoine, the frenchman Bella had been doing business with to profit and at the same time get some leverage she can work against her father, there is some dark secret we don't know yet about why she hates so much her father. She puts Harry on the task to get him the recordings about their meeting with her father and he does exactly that, he goes to her hotel to deliver the USB with the recordings and at that point he kinda pause. The reason why he pause is because he now have some kinda trouble with her wife Jan after she confess Comrad pay her a visit to keep her mouth shot when it comes to family matters and keep Harry happy for him, to this Harry think its about the therapy she has been going to but its something way more dangerous than that, at the hotel I though Harry was going to grab Bella and pound her down the bed right there as she has been teasing him in the past so probably he would blow some steam with her, but he is loyal to Kevin so he didn't, but he will? I don't know because Bella can be a btch too and just ask him not to forget he works for the Harrigans, meaning he works for her too after Harry told her to stay away from Antoine.

The truth behind Comrad visit to Jan is that Maeve either lay down a trap for Harry or she is just a viper ready to strike anyone who gets close enough. The episode starts with the cops finding Archie body at a cemetery with the only ones who knew about his location were Harry and Comrad, Maeve doesn't waste any minute throwing Harry under the bus because that same day he was picked up by the cops at his apartment to what she said was the perfect cover, but Comrad answers back with a "its not Harry" multiple times so he start taking precautions paying Jan a visit to keep Harry happy and sharp, on top of keeping her mouth shut or he will pay her another visit. I have been asking myself how the F they found Archie, either he had a tracking device or someone tip off the cops but I think its because the Harrigans are so compromise by the cops, that moment Comrad visit Jan, she was with a friend who turn out to be an undercover agent who went back to Fisk, the cop after Harry arrest on prev episode.

Source Source Now lets drop some bombs, Maeve has been using Eddie all this time, btch is mad crazy and is tired of the Harrigans been so passive while the Stevensons and everybody else are controlling the streets and Comrad has move more into a a stealth operation style, avoiding war and focusing on living a more relax life but still controlling the business from far. Maeve wants a Harrigan who takes action, here comes Eddie who doesn't need much to get his craziness going, reason why she was the one who plant the idea to kill Tommy, I come to this conclusion after her conversation with Eddie where he feels everyone hates him and he was just trying to do something for the family, this is just me speculating but I think Im right on this one.

Now the Mother Of All Bombs!!!. When everyone went to Costwold to hide after Kevin house blew up, Bella said she wouldn't because that's his family, meaning she doesn't do well with the Harrigans but they never explain why, one would assume Maeve didn't like her but Maeve doesn't like anyone so what was behind she not wanting to go with Kevin?, well Bella use to be Comrad's lover, Maeve knows this and to makes things spicy Comrad was the one who introduce Bella to Kevin, Kevin falls in love with Bella and one day confront her when he was done with the rumors about her been Comrad's lover to what she accept and confess. Kevin gave all the details of the story to Harry while they waiting for some answer from Richie, see how Tommy murder becomes a secondary story and now Bella who was a secondary character becomes way more important. Kevin and Harry are like brothers after everything they went through at juvenile, Bella has been teasing Harry many times so she probably the kind of woman who use sex to get favors, she is so manipulative. But there is even another secret, probably a bit darker, while Harry and Kevin where at juvenile there was this guard called Rusby who Harry saw on episode 3 when he was at a nurse house helping his maid to get a spot for her mother. Harry asks Kevin about Rusby and he answers "I dont remember no Rusby", thing is Rusby rape Kevin in juvenile and that's a secret Kevin has been planing to take to his grave but now its at risk with Harry sniffing around asking Kevin about the same guard.

Source Source For the most part of the episode there were no explosions, shootings or fights but its Mobland after all so they had to give us some sauce. The hail marry that Harry try to pull with Valjon and Richie seem to work out but Richie is not fully sold so he calls in Harry to his club and ask him to put down Valjon, gave Harry a gun but in a very gangster fashion Harry gave it back, takes thick piece of wood and stab Valjon many times until he feels he is satisfied, this had nothing to do with killing Valjon but to probably blow steam and at the same time payback for making up this entire mess he is in, if it wasn't for Eddie and Valjon, Harry would not have to be so fkn busy and might spend some more time with Jan and on top he now has the pressure that Comrad might not trust him anymore.

After Harry got done with Valjon offer to clean up to what Richie said its not necessary but he insist, probably if he have left that would be it but there was one more request and that's for the Harrigan to pay respects at Tommy's funeral, I would only guess they not going to show the body at the funeral considering Tommy is all chopped up. The Harrigans have to go and from pictures that have been going around they will because if they don't they would disrespect the Stevensons and Richie would think its on purpose, falling into they conclusion they had something to do with Tommy murder.

You can tell how much I like an episode when I go over 1500+ words per post, this episode was FIRE!!!! I love it, it also gives way more context about the Harrigans and the kind of secrets the family hold against each other, it even makes you doubt about Harry if he really is with the cops, I don't think so and still think Archie had some sort of tracking device that the cops locate his body. Bella is becoming way more interesting, same goes Kevin because before he was just the soft well behave son that does everything his father says but now we now knows he even took his father lover for his wife so yeah Comrad has Kevin by the balls.

I'm really waiting the moment for Harry to go full Venom jejeje and says fuck all this because he is under a lot of pressure now with problems on the streets with the Stevensons, problems with the Harrigans who think, well at least Maeve; he could be the rat and on top he has problems at home with Jan that now involve Comrad. I also felt Jan is a bit hypocrite at telling Harry "I don't care what you do at your work" knowing what he exactly does for living, she does enjoy the big apartment and the luxury but then keeps bitching when Harry has to stay out dealing with all the sht from Eddie's fucked up, but when he tells her everything, her answer is I don't want to know but you have to spend more time with us, she knew who she been with for the past 20 years so embrace it and shut up, she is with a gangster.

Well its been a very entertaining episode and sometimes I get carry away, I really love episode 4 and Im eager to watch how all this unfolds and what is going to be Eddie's next masterpiece or who is going to give Harry a hard time by creating problems for the Harringans.

  6. Mobland (2025): Plan B – S01E03 - RECAP@skiptvads428d

    Source

This past few days have been totally crazy at the office leaving me without peace to concentrate to pull a full article, I just realize I had a draft of Mobland Episode 3 for two days already but the chain of events have been madness and I hope it stops today, at least I'm picking up on the habit to engage with commenting others authors blog posts and I'm planning to make it part of my routine.

Well we can say third is a charm, Episode 3 of Mobland really escalate things as I was expecting but we still have silly things going on as I mention on my previous post, the episode titled "Plan B" since that is exactly what Kevin and Harry come up with after Richie Stevenson blows up Kevin house after getting tired of waiting for Harry or any of the Harrigans to answers where is his son Tommy, I wonder if Richie is that powerful that the Harrigans don't go straight up war with him but to kinda try to avoid it to the point it almost look like they running from him? after he blew up Kevin's house, after all he is Comrad oldest soon, isn't that going too far?

Source The episode does focus more on the drama side of things instead of action because literally after the bomb triggers on the very first scene, nobody shoots anyone until almost the end when Richie puts two bullets on his son murder knees, this hole drama its all coming from Eddie and Maeve because to be honest it feels everything happens because of them, its almost like the series wants the audience to either hate them or love them, embrace the madness or just straight up hate, to a certain point that's good because at least its making you feel something about the characters.

Here is why it feels like the Harringans respect too much Richie or fear him, but its a mix bag too. After Richie blew up Kevin's house the Harrigans dont pull up soldiers on the streets looking for the Stevensons, they first call in everyone on the family and get them to Comrad house, this is suppose to be consider a safe place and I say suppose because I got a feeling Richie might bring war to Comrad place but that is just me speculating. Harry also had to wake up his family and get them out of the radar and this is when you experience that psychological warfare, two shooters are staying out of Harry's place to put him down until he confront them with Comrad on the phone, on speaker, and they basically sht their pants when Harry threaten them with "kill me and Comrad is listening....he will go after your family" and they back out just like that, no shots fire, no nothing. I have to give them its some dark humor in between and shows the power of the Harrigan family on the streets but we want some action, some shooting, fights, blood, head shots, its suppose to be Mobland, I hope it gets darker soon.

    Source
Source The meat of the episode comes up when Kevin confronts Eddie, his son; after Harry shows him what he had a guy called Valjon, the owner of the club he was at with Tommy on episode one; killed Tommy and cut him into pieces almost like saving his body for some reason. Eddie plans backfire because I guess he was planning to hide it from everyone or he probably did think about it and said fuck it lets go to war but without taking responsibility for the body. Its when Kevin confronts Eddie that some might start showing showing some love for Eddie almost like dammn he did that? and hate for Kevin because he is so fkn soft with his son, to the point he had to ask Comrad to discipline Kevin for him, to make things worst Eddie gets a pass to first base because Maeve pulling the strings for him, wtf!!!!

At this point we all know war is coming but Harry and Kevin still want to avoid it, we don't know why yet because if they had so much power should also say fuck it like Richie but I get there is always a side that thinks war is not good for business. They had Valjon tight up inside a container with plastic all over it to avoid blood spillage, they even wearing plastic suits and interrogate Valjon but at the end tells him to remember what Harry said the first time they met "...help the family and the family will help you" , Valjon knows he is a dead man already, Kevin and Harry threaten him to kill his family and son but Richie would the same if he ever finds out Valjon lies to him, yeah Harry and Kevin want Valjon to lie to Richie almost saying this was an isolated incident and he acted by himself. I think its going to work based on some pictures I have seen online where the Harrigans are at a funeral paying respects, I guess its at Tommy so Valjon dies and comes through with the Harrigans?, I got mix feelings if that's the case because it would be just too easy but I get that part of the audience might be rooting for Harry here.

    Source
Source Besides the Eddie and Tommy incident it feels like the series is brewing in the back the Bella and Harry relationship, until now we have only seen Bella Harrigan, that's Kevin's wife; teasing Harry every time they see each other, trying to get him in bed with her. Bella seem to always call Harry when ever she is in some sort of trouble but not like the rest of the family, all this happens behinds the family back because Harry even says he doesn't know sht about her when he gets ask. Harry is her shining armor guy, he is also trying to keep things professional but I could only guess at some point he will get tired of the problems he is having with his wife at home and everything going on with the Harrigan & Stevenson war and say fuck it, I'm doing Bella to blow up some steam.

Bella has also been a bit naughty as she have this hate for her father, probably the same old story or her been hurt because he doesn't respect her or look at her over the shoulder, that is not clear and has very little context but her father has an important charge at the government and he is corrupt. Bella got him into a meeting with a man, Antoine a Frenchman who is suppose to be Bella's client; they recorded her father during a meeting to proof he is taking bribes to get ppl meet the UK Prime Minister so Bella can have the upper hand over her father, she does mention its not about the money but the power this would give her but her plan backfires when Antoine doesn't give her the tape and now is trying to blackmail her. Antoine probably thinks well after all I can get the meeting and still get my money out of Bella, this is when Bella ring Harry and he runs to her to see whats up.

I enjoy that the series is not falling short on sides stories, we got Harry's problems at home, the Harrigans & Stevensons war and we got Bella story too, plus there is something coming up with one of Comrad son who is trying to pull a deal that would do a lot of money for the family, so there is a lot going on and still doesn't feel that the series gets distracted with a single story, probably the reason for this is because almost in all this story lines Harry has something to do with since he is the man who makes things happen, the man you call when you have problems.

Its been very entertaining although its not perfect, it has its moments of greatness and episode 3 has way more action and intense drama although we fall into those moments where it feels silly, like why not going after Richie and kill him??? after all they were going to put him down on episode 1 right after he sat down with Harry for the first time to talk about the Tommy situation, and is Richie really going to fall for Valjon saying it was just him and the Harrigans had nothing to do? is he seriously going to take all the pain Richie is going to put him through and not sing like bird? still this episode its a 7.5/10 for me.

  7. Mobland (2025): Jigsaw Puzzle – S01E02 - RECAP@skiptvads431d

    Source

A week ago I first posted Episode 1 of Mobland and I notice not many ppl online was talking about it but men is this series skyrocketing in numbers, it seems breaking records on Paramount+ after 1923 and Landman as one of the most watch series on the platform, at the end of the day the question remains the same, is Mobland (2025) that great? well not really.

After watching episodes 2 and 3 I consider Mobland a very good series although not a great one, not in the levels of The Mandalorian, Silo or The Penguin, just to mention a few recent great TV series that you always waiting for the next episode. I don't have complains and only accept it for what it is, a great drama. At the moment there is not much of the narcotics traffic aspect of showing how they do business, all we got for now is a war between the two biggest mob families in the UK, in my opinion it looks like the series is doing a lot with very few characters for now.

Source On Episode 2 the story remains the same without much changes but a lot of development, we still got Harry as the man who makes things happen taking care of hiding Eddie and looking for Tommy with Archie murder in between, definitely entertaining enough to keep me watching and they really drop a big cliffhanger bomb at the end, a true shocking moment that makes up for some of the slower parts of the episode.

With Archie dead there are a lot of questions, for the surprise of the Harrigans, the police had a lot of questions for Harry and its here were they start to suspect that Archie was a snitch and not necessarily a traitor working for the Stevenson. Harry took care of the body and put him on a cemetery next to a women but they never show scenes of this happening, reason I mention this is because on episode 3 there is a particular scene involve on how Harry dispose the body. I always wonder how Harry became to be an important part of the family if he is not a Harrigan and on episode two the series starts giving us some flashbacks that will serve as context from now on and I think this wont stop, during this flashbacks is when I learn that Harry and Kevin were together in juvie and I would only guess Harry at some point became his friend and looking for his back.

    Source
    Source

The hole interaction between Kevin and Harry is sad once you start figuring out Kevin seem to be too soft with everyone even though he is Conrad son in contrast he is just too soft, its the case with his son Eddie and to make things worst seem to be that either his wife Bella had something with Harry in the past but the truth is she is not so satisfied as she keeps tempting Harry on a very seductive way.

The duo of Conrad and Maeve on episode 2 sets a more clear tone of who is the real boss, during the intro of the series we can see the head of Medusa and after comes Maeve, thats how it really feels since there is a scene where she talks to Conrad almost like trying to tell him what to do and he answers "Dont forge Im still the judge..." so at least its clear he is not a 110% puppet but its true that Maeve has a lot of influence on what he decides, same backwards since Conrad does ask Maeve for her opinion on the Fentanyl deal.

Overall the Harrigan family is an interesting mess of dysfunction, with Conrad and Maeve at the top trying to maintain control while their son Kevin deals with his troublemaker kid Eddie, but I find hard that there is no one after Kevin in the family, reason why Harry becomes the man who make things happen, almost like the brother Kevin never had although he does have another brother and half sister in the making money side but not gangster side of the business.

    Source
Source Episode 2 also starts the cat an mouse game a police agent Fisk starts to play with Harry after Arch got murder, I think Arch must had some kind of tracking device and had to be reporting back to Fisk everything that was going on to make him pick up Harry from his apartment and take him to the police station to warn Harry that things are going to get ugly for the family, offering him a life boat before things go south. Its obvious that Harry is not the guy who is going to flinch under this circumstances, he has been on the stomach of the beast so this is just another day at the office and its really funny how he puts himself under arrest and says "she didn't mean it..." when his daughter tells Fisk to fuck off while they picking up Harry early in the morning, still on pijamas at his apartment.

Things really escalate when Richie Stevensons talks to Kevin and him things going to go down if he cant find his son but Harry was still at the cops, its been more than a day and Tommy has not come home, this make the Harrigans enter panic mode and send Eddie to Costwolds where Conrad is, even though its just a house outside the city might be consider as their HQ but the series does show is heavily protect so we only have to take their word. Within the series there is a lot that happens just because without much context, this is when I mention before that the series is trying to do a lot with very little but they must add more context to things instead of just assuming or making the audience take their word.

We do get some action scenes, cool ones although nothing spectacular since it almost felt like I have seen it before in a movie, reason for this is because it was very very classic car chase on top there is the fact that on the series many times either Harry or associates confront the Stevenson's goons without any kind of fear at all like the Harrigans are the law, so they why are they so afraid of Richie??

As you can tell there is a lot that happens on episode 2, I have to admit that the series does a good job at playing in all fronts at the same time and still not feeling like you are loosing the thread of how things happening. The only story that I'm still not sure about is Bella, whats the deal with Harry and her? whats her problem against her father?. If the series starts providing more context it would feel way much better, context on how things came to be and not happening just because they said so. Harry does end up finding Tommy and its the way he figure it out that feels good besides finding Tommy in a fkn box, over all the episode was a cool watch but again its not a series that will make you loose any sleep.

  8. Mobland (2025): Stick or Twist – S01E01 - RECAP@skiptvads438d

    Source

Mobland (2025), as I'm still not fully committed to watch content as last year I'm slowly but surely getting back my rhythm, its just a lot of irl stuff and work in between, last week was though and drain me out to the point I couldn't post but here Im back at it. This weekend saw Mobland episode 2 release, open up RTT and there he was, Tom Hardy on the cover so I had to jump in, so sweet when you get to watch two episodes in a row but I don't like when they release two episodes at once, so there are some mix feelings.

I got to say this series kick off with a bang because right from the first episode we got some real cold blood gangster sht, Comrad play by no other than Pierce Brosnan pulls what I could only tell is a .40 and blow up Arch chest after thinking he is a traitor. As the name says its a series about gangster life, right now or at least until episode two its not about drug traffic in a sense they don't go into details on how to smuggle drugs but its about the two families that from what I can tell control London, the Harrigan and the Stevenons, the first episodes does a great job at setting the tone for the series for what promises to be a gritty and intense dive into the London's criminal underworld with a cast full of stars, the cast part is no joke so I hope this series deliver.

Source The episode opens with a scene that immediately grabs my attention when the series introduced to Tom Hardy's character who plays Harry Da Souza, a fixer or a man who make things happen for the Harrigan crime family. Hardy brings his usual intensity to the role, playing a man who is comfortable dealing and mediating arguments or disputes between rival gangs and on the side has a family who knows his line of work but are off limits to anyone, looks like a very calm guy when he is in first gear.

Latter during the episode the rest of the Harrigan family get introduce, at the head of the family there is Pierce Brosnan playing Conrad and Maeve played by Helen Mirren, this two make a great couple as husband and wife, but their bond on the criminal side of things is way stronger, I really enjoy how Helen triggers Conrad and after the chaos when she wants him to slow down he is in full alpha mode, almost like blaming her for what he has done.

    Source
Source Another interesting character of the series is Eddie Harrigan, Conrad's grandson, played by Anson Boon, who Maeve is the only claiming he will be a great Harrigan family leader. Eddie goes night out with Tommy Stevenson, the son of rival gang leader Richie Stevenson but it all takes a dark turn when Eddie stabs a man in a nightclub where he knows the owner, it was all too fishy for me at first and on second episode we shown why, Eddie going out with Tommy?? hmmm this is not Romeo and Juliet. After the incident Tommy goes missing but during the last scenes from that night we only see both Eddie and Tommy just walking close to the river after they ran away from the club and stumble with each other.

The casting for MobLand is spot on across the board, I cant tell of a single character or at least the main ones where its not a perfect match, we got Tom Hardy who brings a quiet intensity to Harry that makes him instantly believable as a man who can go through the dangerous London criminal underworld. There is also Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are absolutely electric as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan with a performances that screams sophistication and menace, both very capticating everytime they are on scene.

The relationship between Harry and his wife, Jan role played by Joanne Froggatt, adds that family man side of Harry, we can tell that Harry is trying to balance his criminal life style along with Harrigans and his desire for a normal family life, and I'm curious to see how this conflict plays out over the course of time, just patiently waiting for Venom to come out jajajajaj, because that is truly how it feels, Harry is so calm that some times just feels over the top but I like it.

    Source
Source As a personal opinion on this episode I found myself fully engaged from start to finish, the THICK UK accent from some characters and the overall UK environment will sometimes make you feel out of place or loosing the thread but it gets better. The performances are top notch across the board, with Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren in particular delivering standout performance and the script feels sharp and easy to follow with each scene serving to move the plot forward as at the same time it keeps developing the main characters. Even at trying to explain the complex web of relationships and rivalries that make up their criminal world, they even take a page out of John Wick having a Gym playing the role of The Continental Hotel, a place with rules as a neutral ground.

The violence in the episode is brutal and it gets better on the second episode, but it never feels over the top or exaggerated, with every execution and orders from Conrad clearly shows the type of psychopath we dealing with so there is no reason why his grandson Eddie would turn out the way he is, for some reason his son Kevin came out as a soft one or at least he knows very well how to control himself because if Maeve raise him, well she is a psychopath too so.

In conclusion the first episode of MobLand delivers a solid base for what promises to be an engaging series with the combination of great performances, clear and simple writing, all it takes for the series to not deviate from its path.

The episode does an excellent job of setting up multiple story lines that they are all seem to intersect with each other right from the beginning, from the ongoing rivalry for control of drugs and territory between the Harrigans and the Stevensons, to Eddie's reckless behavior and complete twist from what the rest of his family members are since he is the only wild one, or at least for now, the series doesn't give any time or space for drama just pure action. The first episode leaves you wanting more and to be honest the first episode is a soft 7 for me, eager to see how things escalate way farther but it was worth waiting after watching episode two.

Overall, the first episode felt a big draggy, its not perfect but it's a strong start that sets the proper tone for what could be a truly gripping series. If the rest of the season can maintain this level of quality, MobLand could become must watch TV series for fans of crime action series. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this story goes and how these complex, morally ambiguous characters develop over the course of the season.
