Que tal cinéfilos, ver películas y series últimamente no ha sido sencillo, el poco tiempo libre lo he dedicado a uno que otro video juego, ha sido ha si porque principalmente no he conseguido contenido que me guste que me llame la atención, no creo que la programación actual o películas sean malas o de baja calidad, quizás el problema he sido yo, es como pasar por un bache donde te saturas de tanto ver Tv, sin embargo, recién trate con Primal en HBO max y me atrapo, así que les vengo a contar mi experiencia y lo que mas me gusto, esto para nada es una reseña, habrá spoiler así que invito a quien la vio me deje algún comentario sobre la serie o su escena favorita.

The first thing that caught my attention was the beginning of each episode, a kind of slogan with the phrase [adult swim] which is then abbreviated to AS. For a moment I was alarmed because I thought that I had selected some off-color content, which I am not used to because the TVs in the house are in places where anyone can sit and watch what you see, which my children usually do, so I have to be careful, and that is why I selected the series, seeing that it was animated, I thought of watching it with my older son if he wanted to, but this slogan alarmed me so I had to investigate.

For someone like me that my first language is not English, the habit is to translate into my native language the meaning of what I read or hear automatically, so literally I understood that this phrase refers to a space where only adults can swim, then I learned that there were or still are pools where children were not allowed to enter, It is for a select group, hence the analogy for this type of programming that is usually rated for over 14 years and sometimes for over 18, originally as a section for adults at night broadcast by Cartoon Network, but that is present in many other channels.
Lo primero que me llamo la atención fue el inicio de cada episodio, una especie de eslogan con la frase [adult swim] que luego se abrevia en AS. Por un momento me alarmé porque pensé que había seleccionado contenido algo subido de tono, cosa que no acostumbro porque los Tv de la casa están en sitios donde cualquiera puede sentarse a ver lo que tu ves, cosa que suelen hacer mis hijos, así que debo ser cuidadoso, y por eso selecciona la serie, al ver que era animada, pensé en verla con mi hijo mayor si el lo deseaba, pero este slogan me alarmo así que tuve que investigar.
Para alguien como yo que mi primera lengua no es el inglés, la costumbre es traducir a mi idioma nativo el significado de lo que leo o escucho automáticamente, así que de forma literal comprendí que esta frase hace referencia a un espacio donde solo los adultos pueden nadar, luego aprendí que hubo o aun hay piscinas donde no se permitía la entrada de niños, es para un grupo selecto, por ende la analogía para este tipo de programación que suele ser clasificada para mayores de 14 años y en ocasiones para mayores de 18, originalmente como una sección para adultos en horario nocturno transmitido por Cartoon Network, pero que esta presente en muchos otros canales.

Something very interesting about Tartakovsky is his style of animation and presentation of his stories, I remember hearing him in a video about a short animated film he prepared about Popeye, his favorite cartoon from childhood, that he tried to make his films and series have the comic element in the animation, He was so important for him that the humor was not only present in the dialogues, but also in the visuals, that's why his most famous movies like the three installments of Hotel Transylvania were so successful with that peculiar humor in jokes and animations of the beginning of the last century.
Lo siguiente que lees luego de la frase adulto swim es un nombre, el de Genndy Tartakovsky, no se si es costumbre en ustedes, pero cuando no recuerdo algo o me resulta familiar en ese instante detengo lo que estoy viendo y me pongo a investigar, no se si sea una práctica sana, pero cambia la perspectiva de lo que estas por espectar, te hace tener muy buenas o malas expectativas, te convierte en más o menos crítico. Así fue con el nombre del creador y director de esta serie animada, me resulto familiar y al buscar cual a sido su trabajo, descubrí que es mucho lo que he visto que ha estado bajo su dirección y es producto de su creatividad.
Algo muy interesante de Tartakovsky es su estilo de animación y presentación de sus historias, recuerdo haberle escuchado en un video sobre un corto animado que preparo sobre Popeye, su caricatura favorita de la infancia, que procuraba que sus películas y series tuvieran el elemento cómico en la animación, gestos y movimientos de sus personajes, que para el resulta importante que el humor no solo estuviese presente en los diálogos, también en lo visual, es por ellos que sus películas mas famosas como la tres entregas de Hotel Transilvania tuvieron tanto éxito con ese peculiar humor en chistes y animaciones de principios del siglo pasado.
Primal a story of revenge and love
With all this context I was more than ready to enjoy this series, for a moment the desidia of not wanting to watch any TV show or movie dissipated in me and I was ready to enjoy, and just by watching the first episode I was shocked, it was not something I was used to, it really impacted me. From the beginning, you can see Tartakovsky's signature, it is a non-spoken series, there are no dialogues, the actions of the characters and the animation tell us everything, this detail was the first thing that hooked me, it allowed me to develop in my mind what the character would possibly say, I perceive it as an intention of the director to make us part of his creation.
I decided to watch this series because the second season was just premiering, so I had to go to the beginning, and the first episode is really overwhelming, we see how a primitive man who emits sounds similar to that of a caveman, with a speed and somewhat superhuman forces, which at no time we are told his name, but later we will know him as Spear because of the weapon he uses to fight. In this episode we see how his family is the victim of a dinosaur attack and is devoured by them, and yes, the chapter includes scenes where his young children are eaten.
Con todo este contexto estaba mas que preparado para disfrutar de esta serie, por un momento la desidia de no querer ver programa de Tv o película alguna se disipo en mi y me dispuse a disfrutar, y con solo ver el primer episodio quede impactado, no era algo a lo que estaba acostumbrado, en verdad me impacto. De entrada, se ve la firma de Tartakovsky, es una serie no hablada, no hay diálogos, las acciones de los personajes y la animación nos cuentan todo, este detalle fue lo primero que me engancho, me permitió desarrollar en mi mente lo que posiblemente el personaje diría, lo percibo como una intensión del director de hacernos parte de su creación.
Decidí ver esta serie porque recién se estrenaba la segunda temporada, así que debía ir al principio, y el primer episodio es realmente abrumador, vemos como un hombre primitivo que emite sonidos parecidos al de un cavernícola, con una rapidez y fuerzas un tanto sobre humanas, que en ningún momento se nos dice su nombre, pero posteriormente lo conoceremos como Spear debido a el arma que utiliza para pelear. En este episodio vemos como su familia es víctima del ataque de unos dinosaurios y es devorada por ellos, y si, el capitulo incluye las escenas donde sus pequeños hijos son comidos.

Esta lucha termina con los dinosaurios derrotados pero la madre pierde a sus dos hijos, quedando Spear y este dinosaurio que se conoce como Fang juntos en una especie de simbiosis que con el tiempo prospera y se hace más fuerte.

Spear y Fang inician un viaje que en ningún momento nos señala cuál es su destino final, pero en el transcurso del mismo les vemos enfrentar a las criaturas mas horripilantes y despiadadas que puedan ser imaginadas, desde seres sobre naturales, hasta bestias que por un instante parecen invencibles, pero esta simbiosis que combina las habilidades de combate y caza de ambos les hace un equipo despiadado e invencible, que además no solo utilizan la fuerza bruta como seres primitivos, también tiene algunos matices de inteligencia y estrategia de combate.

Algo que resalta mucho en el transcurso de la primera temporada es como el vinculo entre estos dos personajes se fortalece, al punto de esta dispuestos a sacrificarse por el bienestar del otro. Los vemos en muchas ocasiones a Spear proteger a Fang y viceversa, llegando al punto de convertirse en una familia, suplantando aquellos que la naturaleza les quito. En los últimos episodios de la temporada se suma a este par una mujer con ropas harapientas, la cabeza rapada y grilletes en sus manos y cuello, marcada detrás de su cabeza con lo que parece un símbolo de escorpión, ella se hace llamar Mirrah y rápidamente nos enteramos que esta escapando de sus captores, llama la atención de Spear y pronto se hace parte de su familia.
Plot change, now the fight is for freedom
The story takes a turn with the arrival of Mirrah, I liked that a lot, we went from a stage of survival against what seemed the worst beasts, now to face what for many can sometimes be the worst living being, man. Mirrah's captors return and take her to other lands across the sea, Spear and Fang go in search of her and arrive in a new land where they find the men who have Mirrah, who are implied to be Vikings. Spear interacts with some who are friendly while Fang finds love with another dinosaur with whom he has offspring.

La historia da un vuelco con la llegada de Mirrah, eso me gusto mucho, pasamos de una etapa de supervivencia contra lo que parecían las peores bestias, ahora a enfrentar lo que para muchos en ocasiones puede ser el peor ser vivo, el hombre. Los captores de Mirrah vuelven y la llevan a otras tierras a través del mar, Spear y Fang van en su búsqueda y llegan a una nueva tierra donde encuentras las los hombre que tiene a Mirrah, que se da a entender que son vikingos. Spear interactúa con algunos que son amistosos mientras que Fang encuentra el amor con otro dinosaurio con el que tiene crías.
En sus esfuerzos por Salvar a Mirrah presenciamos lo que quizás es una de las escenas mas crudas e impactantes de la serie, vemos a Spear y Fang acabar con un pueblo entero de vikingos, tratando de salvar a su amiga, lo que parece una acto justificado pero que casi raya en el genocidio. Esta acción da inicio a lo que será el tema central de lo que resta de la serie incluso hasta el final de la segunda temporada, el jefe de la aldea encuentra a todos muertos y el y su hijo son los últimos con vida, y se embarcan en una búsqueda de Spear y Fang por venganza, donde ellos resultan muertos.

Aquí se nos presenta un mensaje sobre el cambio de estilo de vida, nunca es fácil abandonar todo aquello que una vez fuimos, ese cambio debe ser parcial, y a través del tiempo, de no ser así los resultados pueden ser desfavorables, como los del final de esta serie, porque cuando aparece este hombre de fuego que viene por Spear, en ningún momento duda en inmolarse, con la intensión de salvar a quienes ama, pero sin aparente preocupación por resguardar su vida como lo hacían en capítulos anteriores, no imagino otro final para un guerrero que morir en batalla, no como un granjero como quizás hubiese terminado en esa aldea, no puedes cambiar la naturaleza de alguien para que se adapte a ti.

Definitivamente es una serie que recomendaría con los ojos cerrados, en especial para los amantes del gore y las animaciones, pero quienes no sean tan fans de estos géneros pueden descubrir una serie interesante donde incluso puedes sentirte parte de ella al no contar con diálogos y ser tu quien imagina lo que posiblemente se estuviera diciendo. También puedes encontrar mensajes que son parte del mundo adulto complejo, que no se tratan tan abiertamente en otros géneros, como, por ejemplo, en el único capitulo donde hay dialogo, vemos conversar a hombre modernos si un ser humano puede volver a u estado primitivo ante situaciones de peligro, sin duda uno de los mejores episodios de la segunda temporada.
