  1. Rocky IV, the most entertaining and euphonious of the saga.@petercurator950d
    [Source](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=404346)

The film is written, directed by and stars Sylvester Stallone.

The cast includes Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers and Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren as Russian Ivan Drago.

Rocky IV was one of many films of the 1980s that represented the desire to recapture American values in order to make a break with the defeatist generation in Vietnam.

    [Source](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=404346)

In the context of the Cold War, Ivan Drago was actually the perfect villain for Rocky Balboa because he embodied in an athlete the collective imagination of the Soviet threat. Drago, a boxer from the Soviet Union, is portrayed almost as a dehumanising machine and modelled after the agencies of the communist government.

The epic final battle (perhaps the bloodiest of the saga) depicts the clash of world powers.

Rocky IV is undoubtedly the most propagandistic episode in the Cold War setting, even if it indulges in some self-criticism of American hubris. It is also among the most entertaining and euphonious of the saga.

  2. Film Review: Rocky IV (1985)@drax1630d

    (source: tmdb.org)

The most important films are usually not the best films. Some earned their place in history books simply for featuring a detail that would symbolically mark important moment in time. One such example is Rocky IV, 1985 sports drama written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, known mainly as the film that has shown the beginning of the end of Cold War.

Rocky IV is the fourth instalment in the series which started in 1976 with Rocky, immensely popular drama in which Stallone starred as Rocky Balboa, boxing underdog who ultimately triumphed in his pursuit of American Dream. At the beginning of this film Rocky is already established as the world’s heavyweight champion and, as time takes its inevitable toll, starts contemplating retirement. That isn’t the case with his best friend and former rival Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers). When Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren), Soviet amateur boxing champion, arrives in USA and his staff begins talking down American athletes, Apollo, motivated by patriotism and desire to stay relevant, sets up exhibition match in Las Vegas. The match goes terribly wrong for Apollo who dies after being pummelled by Drago in the ring. Rocky, who was part of Apollo’s team, feels responsible for friend’s death and decides to avenge him by challenging Drago to another match, which is to be held in Moscow. Drago, heavily promoted by Communist government, aided by scientists and various performance-enhancing chemicals, is clear favourite but Rocky is determined to win and begins methodical preparation for the clash that symbolically pits USA against Soviet Union.

Rocky IV was huge box office success and became commercially most successful part of the series. Critics, however, didn’t like the film and that can be partially explained by film’s unashamedly jingoistic approach to Cold War, which was in many ways similar to Rambo: First Blood Part II, another film in which he played American hero fighting the Soviets. His script in many ways follows decades-old propaganda stereotypes that became the norm in Reagan’s years and portrays Evil Empire as cold, hostile land built on the system of absolute state control and suppression of individuality. This is the reason why character of Ivan Drago is portrayed as anti-thesis of Rocky – unlike an ordinary man who reached fame and fortune by his own skill and determination, Drago is product of a state which equipped him with computers, high tech equipment and drugs. As such he is the most memorable of all Rocky’s opponents, and it was Stallone’s good fortune to cast tall, blonde and muscular Swedish martial arts expert Dolph Lundgren in a role that would become start of his career. Lundgren in many ways plays Drago like Schwarzenegger played Terminator – as sinister, robotic and seemingly unstoppable and invincible force; only at the very end we see glimpses of emotion in his character.

This, however, isn’t enough to compensate for many serious flaws. In previous three films Rocky was presented as part of community, person who did what he did because of family and friends. Here, when he is already established champion and forced to act as a national symbol, characters of his family and friends only get in a way, like his cousin Paulie (played by Burt Young) acting as comic relief or wife Adrian (played by Talia Shire) trying to talk him out of match. Another problem, something that Stallone apparently became aware of during production, is actual lack of plot. Even with hour and half of running time, there was little actual content in the film, so Stallone compensated it with prolonged montages of his training and events in previous three films, accompanied with 1980s pop songs that make Rocky IV look like prolonged MTV video. Character of Drago’s wife and spokeswoman Ludmilla is completely unnecessary and it is hard to evade impression that it was introduced only to provide role for Brigitte Nielsen, who was Stallone’s girlfriend (and future wife) at the time. Music by Vince DiCola is mostly forgettable and far below standards of Bill Conti’s work in previous three films.

Rocky IV becomes interesting only at the very end, although most of the audience, even those who haven’t seen previous three instalments, can guess how would American underdog fare against his Soviet adversary. Stallone directed those scenes very well and fans of spectacular boxing action will have reasons to be pleased. The most interesting moment, however, happens at the very ending. Due to his courage and determination during the course of the match Rocky has managed to win initially hostile crowd and at the end even Soviet leader, who looks like Mikhail Gorbachev (played by David Lloyd Austin), rises up and begins the clap thus congratulating Rocky’s victory. In its essence, that fictional event corresponded with the real changes in Soviet Union that began with an arrival of Gorbachev, whose reforms, based on the idea of copying the ways of its Cold War adversary, would ultimately transform superpower into pathetic and decaying shadow of its former self. In many ways, Rocky’s victory in this film – which represents not only victory of one man over another, but the idea of individualism over collectivism – was prophetic signal of the history-defining events that would transpire only few years later.

  3. Rocky IV... Una Pasión A Golpes / Rocky IV... A Passion To Beats@omarcitorojas1637d

Again we meet again my appreciated family @movies&tvshows. As everyone knows, my great passion is #boxing, and there is no better way to externalize it than through those cinematographic pieces that manage to exalt such a great sport. I am referring to the #Rocky franchise, films that leave a deep message of passion, dedication, brotherhood, leaving a legacy that has lasted over time and that I think will live on from generation to generation. This time we come with #RockyIV, the fourth installment that from my point of view was the highest grossing of all of them. In addition, I also think that the plot had more strength and character, there was more maturity and the rivalry between the fighters was truly credible and devastating. Not for nothing was this fourth installment chosen to be remastered and released with scenes never seen before. I haven't seen this production yet, but I'm sure I'm not going to miss it. In this sense, we are going to enjoy Rocky4 but from my point of view and with the passion with which I live and relive these fabulous films. I hope you enjoy my brothers. I know that @jcrodriguez likes this installment.

This installment of Rocky 4 took place in 1985. Rocky's rival being the deadly and devastating Dolph Lundgren, who would be the Russian captain Ivan Drago the Siberian express. Dolph, in this same year, had participated in the James Bond film A View to a Kill. For the role of Ivan he was chosen from among 5000 actors, however he would almost lose the role as he was very tall. Also in 1987 I had the opportunity to see him embody the famous character of He-Man Masters of the Universe. The truth is that the Rocky IV fight had a budget of 28 million dollars, 11 million more than its predecessor. But it raised a total of $ 300,473,716. Here too, in addition to being the protagonist, Sylvester Stallone was the director of the film. The guy has put money in his pocket twice and even triple, for being a screenwriter, director and protagonist. What things, that's life.

Lo que Pasó desde mi Visión

    What Happened from my Vision

This story begins with the final part of the third installment. Rocky defeating Clubber and regaining his title; in addition to the fulfillment of the favor to Apollo. A private fight that nobody knows what happened there. This fight should be made as a kind of short to finalize that outcome, it would be good. The truth is that after the favor, Balboa would be late for the birthday of his brother-in-law Paulie who receives a robot as a gift, which the birthday boy programs by turning him into a kind of servant. This Paulie is a serious thing. Rocky seizes the opportunity and organizes a private celebration with his wife Adrian for their wedding anniversary. A retired Rocky and a retired Apollo. This is where the bomb starts, because Captain Ivan Drago arrives in the United States, a boxer who has not been defeated and apparently is a demolishing machine in search of a fight with the champion Balboa whom he claims to defeat with ease.

    2021-07-03 18.45.37.png

    iJOB3i.gifFuente-Source

Apollo realizes the arrogance of the Russian, so he talks to Rocky because he wants to confront Drago. Apollo I don't think you should fight that guy, he's big, young, strong and you're retired, you have nothing to look for. What happened Rocky? You are calling me old, I will be the one who will fight with that rookie and I assure you that he does not take my blows. Apollo, think about it, okay, it can hurt you. I'll fight him and period, you'll be in my corner along with duke. You really are crazy Apollo. In a press conference the exhibition fight between the master of the disaster Apollo Creed, and the Siberian express Ivan Drago is announced. The spirits are heated, they are insulted and almost they go to the hands. Quite a show like the ones Apollo likes to do.

    2021-07-03 18.45.37.png

    ValidGivingBlue-1641247292956.gifFuente-Source

As I like to put on shows before my fights; just like I did with Rocky when I dressed up as Washington. Now I'm going to put on a better show and I'm going to hire James Brown. How crazy I am, without knowing what awaits me. Start the show to the rhythm of James Brown and Living in America. Drago, a little surprised, emerges over the ring, while old planes fly, majestic women appear with sensual movements, and Apollo is descending from the top, who is mounted on a kind of animal that is transforming, always looking and threatening Ivan with his fist. . This guy is getting hotter. Everybody dances and laughs like it's nothing. It's a good show.

    2021-07-03 18.45.37.png

    BlushingIdealIb-1641247730446.gifFuente-Source

We are already in the ring gentlemen. Drago full concentration and Apollo is pure laugh, plus he makes fun of Ivan. Oh dad, let's go to the center of the arena, the referee indicates the rules and Apollo continues to mock. The referee orders them to greet each other, which Drago does not do but Apollo raises Ivan's fists and when he hits them they do not move an inch. Sheer strength, Apollo is kind of scared. Pin pin the bell rings, there Apollo goes dancing as always, Ivan keeps his fists down, Creed connects a few blows, the audience cheers up but those blows are like little touches that do nothing to Ivan. The Russian threatens and intimidates Apollo who slips a bit, the show continues and Apollo hits without hurting; until Drago receives the signal and begins his attack with devastating blows, Apollo looks like a rag doll receiving tremendous punishment, the assault ends and Apollo is all bruised. Rocky say they will stop the fight and Apollo refuses.

    SneakyValidEchi-1641248542444.gifFuente-Source

Me ofendiste Adrian.

    PpQh.gifFuente-Source

Don't stop her, Rocky, no matter what. His wife is nervous. The second round begins, no one laughs, no mocks, there is only nervousness. Drago starts the carnage again and Apollo can't take it anymore, Rocky takes the towel and Duke yells to throw it, but Balboa doesn't and suddenly Apollo receives the moral blow that sends him on a trip to the canvas. Creed falls and convulses, it is crazy, Rocky attends to Apollo but Drago says that there is nothing to do because he is dead. We go to the funeral and have chocolate, Rocky feels guilty for not having thrown in the towel, however if he had thrown it, Apollo's fate was inevitable, because Drago was not going to stop. Now is the time for revenge and the Russians say the fight must be in Russia or there will be no fight. Rocky accepts and the fight would be at Christmas. Tremendous child Jesus then. When Balboa arrives at his house he argues with Adrian for having accepted the fight, claiming that with that he will not revive Apollo. The discussion continues and Adrian tells Rocky that he will not win. He may not win, but to win me he must have a heart and kill me, and to kill me he must also be willing to die. You offended me Adrian.

    2021-07-03 18.45.37.png

    zzg5uN.gifFuente-Source

We are going to Russia where the entourage receives me and takes me to a kind of secluded barn, because that is what I asked, to be secluded from the world. Well, I'm going to train a bit but I lack motivation. Something is missing to complete the puzzle. When I returned home I realize that Adrian is here, and as always he gives me a tongue syrup and gives me the motivation that was missing. Oh dad, I already have the strength I expected. We will train to the rhythm of the music. Chopping wood, dragging sled with stone, running, throwing stones, sit-ups and dragon fly; lift people on a cart. All my training is rudimentary, while Drago uses the most sophisticated machinery in addition to using steroids. The moment of the fight arrives and the tension is unique. Here, too, they do a kind of show for Drago. Apparently the one who does the shows is the one who loses.

    SickUntimelyClownanemonefish-size_restricted.gifFuente-Source

The fight starts and from the beginning Rocky looks like a punching bag. Blow and blow, this is a carnage, Balboa falls and gets up, blow and blow and falls again, this guy resists like the good guys. The round ends and Rocky is seeing double, but Paulie jokingly tells him to hit the one in the middle. We go to the next round and Rocky continues to receive blows, Adrian worries, Balboa is in his corner, it seems that he is finished and there is nothing to do, but suddenly Balboa takes a blow out of nowhere and connects to Drago's eyebrow, Oh! The Russian is cut in the end he is human and his people care. Now it is Rocky who attacks and is making Drago weak, he picks him up and they fall to the canvas, it is the war in Moscow. Now the fight is even and Drago accepts that Rocky is made of steel. Blows go and blows come, I get excited and get up from the chair throwing blows. Last round and Rocky must give all his power, all his love, all his being to defeat him. As always, Balboa receives the blows and then goes on the attack. Rocky advances and throws his favorite blows to the body, Drago doubles, Balboa continues to hit the chocolate, Adrian yells "you've already beaten him"; Drago falls, this is impossible, he starts the count, we reached 10 and Rocky has done the impossible, he has won, now Russia loves him. Rocky gives a motivational speech in the middle of the cold war indicating that it is better that two men are killed in the ring and not millions in a war. To my son who is at home, I love him and merry Christmas.
