Me gusta el stop-motion, una técnica de animación que tiene un estilo peculiar. Lo puedes apreciar en películas de Wes Anderson como Fantastic Mr. Fox o Isle of Dogs, o también en películas de Wallace y Grommit. El título recién estrenado en Netflix usa ese estilo de animación. Es una antología de cortos con 4 directores distintos: Emma de Swaef & Marc, James Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr y Paloma Baeza.

Los cortos son principalmente historias lúgubres, que partiendo desde la premisa inicial, los problemas van yendo en aumento. Generando distintos finales, unos más funestos que otros. Cada corto dura alrededor de 30 minutos. Entre los 3 cortos, el que considero más envolvente e interesante es el primero. Incluso el trabajo de la textura de los personajes funciona bien con el ambiente que quiere dar.
The shorts are mainly gloomy stories, that starting from the initial premise, the problems are increasing. Generating different endings, some more dire than others. Each short film lasts about 30 minutes. Among the 3 shorts, the one I consider the most involving and interesting is the first one. Even the texture work of the characters works well with the mood it wants to give.
El 2do corto tiene un tono más cómico, pero es dramático ver como al personaje principal va cayendo una espiral hacia abajo. El tercer corto es más esperanzador, y trata un poco de los cambios en la vida.
The 2nd short has a more comic tone, but it is dramatic to see the main character spiraling downward. The third short is more hopeful, and deals a bit with the changes in life.
En general los 3 cortos son buenos y entretenidos de ver. La productora británica Nexus Studios fue la encargada de realizar este trabajo, y por mi parte, espero siga realizando proyectos así. Lo recomiendo a los fans de la animación, ya que verán en este peculiar trabajo, bastantes toques de originalidad y trama interesante.
Overall all 3 shorts are good and entertaining to watch. The British production company Nexus Studios was in charge of making this work, and I for one hope they continue to make projects like this. I recommend it to animation fans, as they will see in this peculiar work, quite a few touches of originality and interesting plot.

Hola Hivers amantes de las películas y series, en esta oportunidad quiero comentar sobre una película que capto mi atención desde que la vi disponible en Netflix, es una animación, pero no cualquier animación para niños, de hecho, es una sátira, pero con cierto grado de terror y misterio enfocada para un público adulto, esta producción se llama: The House.
Esta es una película británica es una apuesta diferente para Netflix, productora de esta animación. En lo particular aplaudo este tipo de decisiones en los cuales se realiza un producto diferente, sin repetir la misma formula comercial que tanto le agradan a las corporaciones, esta historia nos demuestra que Netflix puede incursionar en otros géneros y producciones que sean dedicados a un segmento del público que quizás no sean los que más beneficios económicos generen, sin embargo, nos genera esa sensación de que hay un lugar, películas y entretenimiento en general para todos los gustos, con la visión de que Netflix puede producir interesantes películas fuera de un ámbito netamente comercial. Una buena noticia sin dudas.
Una casa misteriosa vista desde tres épocas distintas, pasado, presente y futuro, donde la conexión con la casa comienza con una familia pobre que decide abandonar su hogar para vivir allí, continua con un promotor de inmobiliario obsesionado con remodelar la casa al igual que en la ultima historia donde la casera debe decidir entre la casa y su propio futuro.
Esta producción es genial, lo digo por que nos invita a los espectadores pensar y a interpretar lo que ocurre desde el primer minuto del film, hasta el final, pasando por tres historias distintas, pero con una conexión visible, cada capitulo con su esencia propia y con mucho que se puede desglosar y debatir con nuestras propias teorías.
Estilo de Animación
Quizás el estilo de animación Stop Motion parezca anticuado y obsoleto, sin embargo, este es el estilo utilizado en este film, incluso pudiendo dar una mala impresión justo antes de reproducir la película, paradójicamente esta vieja técnica de utilizar objetos con un efecto de cámara para simular el movimiento sea los que nos regale este tipo de historias en pleno año 2022, sin embargo, es uno de los aspectos que poco a poco van atrapando al espectador.
El estilo de los personajes cambia en relación al capitulo o cada parte de la antología, sin embargo, esta muy bien trabajada desde el aspecto visual, en combinación con un tono oscuro y lúgubre que hace realzar los momentos de misterio. Esta animación posee buenos detalles mejorando la calidad de otras obras de Stop Motion pero manteniendo esa esencia de las clásicas películas. Sin dudas un buen trabajo técnico para envolver al espectador en este tipo de animación.
Viendo esta película en perspectiva, el Stop Motion hace realzar esas sensaciones humanas como la de misterio, incomodidad y desesperación, o incluso de asco que por momentos nos presenta el film, estas emociones llegan a nuestra mente primero por la visualización de los personajes y el contexto, luego amplificado por el desenvolvimiento de la historia.
Así como lo mencioné anteriormente esta película combina tres historias, se introducen en una mezcla de géneros interesantes, donde quizás muchos resalten la palabra sátira, que, si bien tiene presencia en el film, muchos resaltaremos el misterio siendo protagonista, incluso el terror y el drama psicológico con parte de este film. En esta sección analizaré cada historia, dando mi punto de vista individual, ya que el film nos invita a analizar e incluso a formar nuestras propias teorías. Aunque intentaré no adentrarme en la trama, puede bajar hasta la sección de opinión final si desea ver este film con menos información para generar más sorpresa.
Capítulo 1:
Esta es la historia con más grado de terror de toda la antología, nos muestra una animación con una tonalidad oscura y con personajes que incluso al ser normales parecen incomodos por sus diseños. En esta historia rodea a una familia pobre, con un padre desesperado, el cual es el desencadenante de todo el film.
En esta historia el misterio es aplastante en la mayor parte del capítulo, una historia con algo de terror donde incluso observamos una verdadera mano maligna en el desarrollo de la historia aprovechándose de esa desesperación que es tan humana. Desde mi percepción un ente infernal mueve los hilos de las situaciones, donde la avaricia y el deslumbramiento por los bienes materiales hace sucumbir el alma, restándole importancia a lo que verdaderamente es la esencia de la vida.
Por momentos sentiremos cierta desesperación debido a que nos presentan a dos niñas pequeñas como foco, añadiendo un misterio infinito a su alrededor, llegando de manera correcta a las emociones del espectador, el cual tendrá más dudas que certezas sobre a historia.
Esta historia visualmente juega con una sensación de asco al espectador, el protagonista es una rata con un diseño que al que tenga fobia a los roedores seguramente le afectará, además, mostrando también insectos alrededor. Esta historia nos muestra lo que parece un promotor inmobiliario realizando la obra más importante de su carrera, una casa de lujo, siguiendo esa línea argumental enfocada en lo material.
En esta historia se introduce más en un drama psicológico alejando por momentos el misterio aplastante y el terror que abundaba en la historia pasada. Esta historia nos otorga cuestionamientos sobre identidad bajo una percepción de fábula. El protagonista es agobiado por sus deseos carnales, el dinero, el éxito e incluso el amor, estos deseos lo envuelven haciéndole ser algo que en realidad no es.
A mi parecer, el protagonista logra liberarse de esa apariencia superficial y nos muestra de una manera grotesca como vuelve a sus orígenes, pero donde quizás es donde se siente realmente feliz por primera vez.
Esta es una animación más amigable visualmente, añadiendo un contexto bastante misterioso y apocalíptico, una inundación donde solo la misteriosa casa esta en pie. Ahora los personajes son gatos y la protagonista sigue en esa dinámica de obsesión por la casa, tratando de remodelarla y como lo dice “tener buenos recuerdos”, desea dinero para cumplir su sueño, algo que nos deja en la misma línea argumental de las otras historias, el materialismo, sin embargo, esta obsesión no le deja ver que en este mundo apocalíptico el dinero es lo menos importante, de hecho, los inquilinos le pagan con otros objetos e incluso comida, algo que realmente necesita y que es lo más valioso en ese momento, sin embargo, ese deseo y obsesión por la casa le nubla completamente la mente.
Observamos un final y un cierre general del film en esta historia, dándonos a entender que existen cosas más importantes que lo material, es necesario dominar el dinero y los bienes antes de que ellos nos dominen a nosotros, el pasado en combinación con nuestros anhelos materiales puede interponerse en crear verdaderos “recuerdos felices”, o, aunque esos momentos se encuentren frente a nosotros, no seremos capaces de apreciarlos. A pesar de que la protagonista no se despoja del pasado obtiene una liberación significativa, lo que le permite mirar el futuro con más claridad.
Esta producción es bastante buena, quizás en los primeros minutos de la primera historia tengamos ciertas dudas del film, sin embargo, es necesario darle la oportunidad a la historia para que se desarrolle y nos sumerja en esa buena mezcla de géneros que nos propone. En lo particular he disfrutado esta película, me agrada que se nos otorgue esa libre interpretación donde pensamos en lo que cada historia y la película en general trata de trasmitir sin explicaciones solo con imágenes y situaciones.
Me ha parecido un acierto para Netflix, darnos este tipo de historias que quizás mucho no la tomen en cuenta, pero que si tiene un buen desarrollo. Es una película para tener en cuenta si al espectador le gusta pensar y revelar los misterios.
Si, aunque seguramente a un segmento del público le parecerá aburrida en lo que parece unas historias sin sentido puesto que no es una película comercial, es un film donde el sentido y las teorías se las otorgamos nosotros mismos, eso es lo que me agrada de este tipo de películas, sin embargo, creo que a muchos usuarios de Hive les parecerá un buen film, lo he notado en algunas reseñas y esperaba con ansias realizar la mía. En resumen, la recomiendo siempre y cuando te atraigan este tipo de historias.
Hello Hivers lovers of movies and series, this time I want to comment on a movie that caught my attention since I saw it available on Netflix, is an animation, but not just any animation for children, in fact, is a satire, but with a certain degree of terror and mystery focused for an adult audience, this production is called: The House.
This is a British film is a different bet for Netflix, producer of this animation. In particular I applaud this type of decisions in which a different product is made, without repeating the same commercial formula that corporations like so much, this story shows us that Netflix can venture into other genres and productions that are dedicated to a segment of the public that may not be those that generate more economic benefits, however, it generates that feeling that there is a place, movies and entertainment in general for all tastes, with the vision that Netflix can produce interesting films outside a purely commercial field. Undoubtedly good news.
A mysterious house seen from three different times, past, present and future, where the connection with the house begins with a poor family who decides to leave their home to live there, continues with a real estate developer obsessed with remodeling the house as in the last story where the landlady must decide between the house and her own future.
This production is great, I say this because it invites us the viewers to think and interpret what happens from the first minute of the film, until the end, going through three different stories, but with a visible connection, each chapter with its own essence and with much that can be broken down and discussed with our own theories.
Animation Style
Perhaps the Stop Motion animation style seems outdated and obsolete, however, this is the style used in this film, even being able to give a bad impression just before playing the film, paradoxically this old technique of using objects with a camera effect to simulate movement is what gives us this kind of stories in the year 2022, however, is one of the aspects that gradually catch the viewer.
The style of the characters changes in relation to the chapter or each part of the anthology, however, it is very well worked from the visual aspect, in combination with a dark and gloomy tone that enhances the moments of mystery. This animation has good details improving the quality of other Stop Motion works but keeping the essence of the classic films. Undoubtedly a good technical work to involve the viewer in this type of animation.
Seeing this film in perspective, the Stop Motion enhances those human feelings such as mystery, discomfort and despair, or even disgust that at times the film presents, these emotions come to our mind first by the visualization of the characters and the context, then amplified by the unfolding of the story.
As I mentioned before, this film combines three stories, they are introduced in a mixture of interesting genres, where perhaps many will highlight the word satire, which, although it has presence in the film, many will highlight the mystery being the protagonist, even the horror and psychological drama with part of this film. In this section I will analyze each story, giving my individual point of view, as the film invites us to analyze and even form our own theories. Although I will try not to delve into the plot, you can scroll down to the final opinion section if you wish to watch this film with less information to generate more surprise.
Chapter 1:
This is the story with the most degree of terror of the whole anthology, it shows us an animation with a dark tonality and with characters that even being normal seem uncomfortable because of their designs. In this story surrounds a poor family, with a desperate father, which is the trigger of the whole film.
In this story the mystery is overwhelming in most of the chapter, a story with some terror where we even observe a real evil hand in the development of the story taking advantage of that desperation that is so human. From my perception, an infernal entity pulls the strings of the situations, where greed and the dazzle for material goods makes the soul succumb, taking away the importance of what is truly the essence of life.
At times we will feel some despair because we are presented with two little girls as the focus, adding an infinite mystery around them, correctly reaching the emotions of the viewer, who will have more doubts than certainties about the story.
This story visually plays with a sense of disgust to the viewer, the protagonist is a rat with a design that will surely affect those who have a phobia of rodents, also showing insects around. This story shows us what looks like a real estate developer carrying out the most important work of his career, a luxury house, following that plot line focused on the material.
In this story he goes more into a psychological drama, moving away at times from the overwhelming mystery and terror that abounded in the past story. This story gives us questions about identity under a fable-like perception. The protagonist is overwhelmed by his carnal desires, money, success and even love, these desires envelop him making him be something he is not.
In my opinion, the protagonist manages to free himself from this superficial appearance and shows us in a grotesque way how he returns to his origins, but perhaps where he feels really happy for the first time.
This is a more visually friendly animation, adding a rather mysterious and apocalyptic context, a flood where only the mysterious house is still standing. Now the characters are cats and the protagonist is still in that dynamic of obsession for the house, trying to remodel it and as she says "to have good memories", she wants money to fulfill her dream, something that leaves us in the same plot line of the other stories, materialism, however, this obsession does not let him see that in this apocalyptic world money is the least important thing, in fact, the tenants pay him with other objects and even food, something that he really needs and that is the most valuable thing at that moment, however, that desire and obsession for the house completely clouds his mind.
We observe an ending and a general closure of the film in this story, giving us to understand that there are more important things than the material, it is necessary to dominate money and goods before they dominate us, the past in combination with our material longings can get in the way of creating true "happy memories", or, even if those moments are in front of us, we will not be able to appreciate them. Although the protagonist does not shed the past she gains a significant release, allowing her to look to the future with more clarity.
This production is quite good, perhaps in the first minutes of the first story we have certain doubts about the film, however, it is necessary to give the story a chance to develop and immerse us in that good mix of genres that it proposes. In particular I enjoyed this film, I like that we are given that free interpretation where we think about what each story and the film in general tries to convey without explanations only with images and situations.
It has seemed to me a success for Netflix, giving us this kind of stories that perhaps many do not take it into account, but that if it has a good development. It is a film to keep in mind if the viewer likes to think and reveal mysteries.
Yes, although surely a segment of the public will find it boring in what seems like a meaningless stories since it is not a commercial film, it is a film where the sense and theories are granted by ourselves, that's what I like about this kind of movies, however, I think many Hive users will find it a good film, I have noticed in some reviews and I was looking forward to make mine. Esta producción cuenta la historia de una casa misteriosa a medida que el tiempo transcurre todo se pone mas raro y sombrío. El argumento de cada uno de los cortos se ensambla a la manera de un cuidadoso hilo narrativo que se extiende en tres direcciones totalmente distintas.
The House, utiliza lo visual y lo surreal que crean en The House una sensación de urgencia por escapar de una pesadilla, en la que te deja con una incertidumbre y una ansiedad horrible, Ya sea debido a que sus personajes son animales humanizados o que las historias se hacen más insoportables. El punto central de The House es la desorientación.
Esto es una Película Original de Netflix la verdad al principio me llamó un poco la atención por lo que es de stopmotion y se veían unos muñecos bastante llamativos con aspecto de peluches y me imaginaba algo así tipo la película de Caroline (una gran película que más adelante planeo hablar de ella) pero más sombría, vi muchos videos en los que decían que era algo terrorífico de ver y que ni la entendían, principalmente hablaban de el primer corto que fue el que logré ver lo siguientes no los vi, porque la verdad me llegue a aburrir mucho.
El primer corto empieza con una familia de escasos recursos que es juzgada por sus parientes por no tener una buena economía, por lo que en un afán de caerles bien, el padre hace un trato con alguien todo extraño en el bosque aquí empieza todo a ser raro y no entendemos nada, hace este trato y al día siguiente vemos que llega el que prevé ser su mayordomo y nos explica que fue lo que habló el padre esa noche y el porque llegó tan raro, un raro arquitecto les ofrece una casa, de las regala con la condición de que dejen de lado todos sus bienes, ya que está casa ya tiene todo.
En esta casa los trabajadores son bastante extraños, son bastante tenebrosos pero al parecer solo las niñas lo logran ver, los papás en su mundo todo es perfecto y felices de que por fi tienen los lujos que tanto quieren.
La esposa se pone a coser todo el día y toda la noche y el papá intenta siempre prender la chimenea y nunca lo consigue, la casa constantemente le están haciendo remodelaciones, empezaron a “desmantelar” la casa ya que necesitaban la madera para seguir construyendo esta casa.
De la nada los papás se empiezan a vestir como muebles de la casa y se van convirtiendo en ellos poco a poco, la chimenea la única forma que encendiera era que usaran de leña los artículos viejos de ellos.
Las dos bebes se daban cuenta de que no estaba nada bien y en un momento consiguen un pequeño cuarto que se asemeja a su casa y si, es tal cual su casa construida en el sótano, salen de ahí para buscar a sus papás y se encuentran en un laberinto, nada de puertas, escaleras, nada la casa Constante va cambiando a un punto que parecía una caja y solo se veía el mayordomo en una crisis en lo que no se le entendía nada.
Cuando consigue a sus papás ya están convertidos en muebles, y por el fuego de la chimenea esto se empieza a quemar, ellos en un momento reaccionan y ayudan a las niñas a escapar, las niñas salen, la casa se quema y aquí queda todo.
No nos explican nada, solo fue media hora bastante perturbadora, me causo bastante ansiedad y en general fue por los trabajadores de la casa que eran bastante raros, a mi novio desde lo visual de la película le parecía perturbador, a mi casi no, más bien me atrae mucho este tipo de animación por lo que estaba fascinada pero creo que es lo único decente de este corto, no entendí nada, lo único que podemos destacar de aquí es que nada es gratis y no nos tenemos que dejar llevar por la avaricia, pero no siento que fue una buena manera de darnos a entender esto.
Un ratón que trabaja reparando esta casa y se enfrasca en eliminar una plaga de cucaracha qué hay, este empieza a vivir aquí y el mismo se convierte en la plaga de la casa.
El otro es una gatita que tiene esta casa y se la vive haciendo reparaciones para poder venderla, pero donde se encuentra está todo inundado por lo que es más que difícil venderla, poco a poco la casa se va desapareciendo y está le toca abandonar la casa.
Son tres historias totalmente diferentes y lo único que los conecta es la casa, de resto no hay nada, solo cada corto nos deja un mensaje o así logro verlo.

Hi guys! I hope you are having a beautiful beginning of the year which by the way seems to be in a hurry since we are already 23 days into this 2022, anyway I hope you are having a nice January and if not I hope you can make changes that make you feel completely fulfilled.
Today I have taken the time to watch a movie and write a review as I like: a little long and quite substantial and a few days ago I saw a picture of this film and it seemed quite interesting since it was an animated movie that portrayed a family of mice.
At first I thought that the mice invaded the house of some humans to subject them to all kinds of tortures, but the truth is that my expectations were somewhat disturbing. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing and I found a stop-motion work with almost real images that made me think I was watching a live action because of its exquisite quality.
¡Hola chicos! espero que estén pasando un hermoso comienzo de año que por cierto parece tener prisa pues ya llevamos 23 días de este 2022, como sea espero que estén teniendo un bonito enero y sino pues que puedan hacer cambios que les hagan sentir completamente plenos.
Hoy me he dado el tiempo de ver una película y escribir una reseña como me gusta: un poco larga y bastante sustanciosa y es que hace algunos días atrás vi una foto de este filme y pareció bastante interesante puesto que era una película animada que retrataba una familia de ratones.
Al principio creí que los ratones invadían la casa de unos humanos para someterlos a todo tipo de torturas, pero la verdad es que mis expectativas eran algo perturbadoras. Sin embargo, esto no es necesariamente malo y me he encontrado con un trabajo en stop-motion con imágenes casi reales que me hicieron pensar que estaba viendo un live action por su exquisita calidad.

The House is a fairly new project released last January 14, 2022, the film was started to be developed in early 2020 but it was not until late 2021 that the first images would be seen and when the voices were announced. The film is directed in three acts with totally different stories that have as a connection a house, the first story was directed by Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels, the second story by Niki Lindroth von Bahr and the third directed by Paloma Baeza. The scripts were written by Enda Walsh under the production of Charlotte Bavasso and Christopher O'Reilly.
The voice cast featured such well-known and multifaceted figures as Matthew Goode, Mia Goth, Jarvis Cocker, Dizzee Rascal, Helena Bonham Carter and Paul Kaye. Together they created a terrifying or rather disturbing story in various time periods, with different characters and using bizarre elements that caught my attention from the beginning.
Pero sin duda lo que más me agradó fue la historia y aunque no soy un fanático de las películas animadas salvó a las de Disney o Dreamworks, Netflix en compañía de Nexus Studios una compañía bastante galardonada en este tipo de películas de animación, lograron hacer un gran trabajo.
The House es un proyecto bastante novedoso estrenado el pasado 14 de enero de 2022, la película ser comenzó a desarrollar a principios de 2020 pero no fue hasta finales de 2021 que se verían las primeras imágenes y cuando se anunciaron las voces. La película está dirigida en tres actos con historias totalmente distintas que tienen como conexión una casa, la primera historia fue dirigida por Emma de Swaef y Marc James Roels, la segunda historia por Niki Lindroth von Bahr y la tercera dirigida por Paloma Baeza. Los guiones fueron escritos por Enda Walsh bajo la producción de Charlotte Bavasso y Christopher O’Reilly.
El elenco de voces contó con figuras bastante reconocidas y multifacéticas como Matthew Goode, Mia Goth, Jarvis Cocker, Dizzee Rascal, Helena Bonham Carter y Paul Kaye. Juntos crearon una historia aterradora o más bien perturbadora en varios periodos de tiempos, con distintos personajes y utilizando elementos bizarros que llamaron mi atención desde el principio.
Synopsis
In the first act we have the story of a poor family in the 19th century . **Raymond (Matthew Goode) is a man who is constantly embarrassed by his aunt and uncle when they come to visit their last daughter Isobel (Elanor De Swaef-Roels). Wandering the woods drunk and frustrated, he receives an offer he can't refuse from a disturbed architect named Van Schoonbeck (Barney Pilling); who promises to build a free mansion for his family if they leave their old house. The new house is huge and totally enclosed but holds a lot of secrets that the family's eldest daughter Mabel (Mia Goth) discovers. Meanwhile the evil architect keeps making changes to the house and his manager Thomas (Mark Heap), loses his mind.
The second story (it's a story with mice eww) is set in the present day and tells the life of a house salesman (Jarvis Cocker) who renovates houses to sell them at a high price and who in his last acquisition has put all his savings in the renovation of a mansion. He ends up renovating it successfully but his happiness collapses when he encounters an invasion of beetles. Even so, he organizes an exhibition in which he tries to sell the house and must make sure it is completely ready, so he ends up fumigating every space in the mansion, but his efforts are unsuccessful. Most of the prospective buyers show little interest, except for one odd couple (Sven Wolter and Yvonne Lombard) who claim to be "very interested" in the house. They are so interested that they basically move in without buying.
The third story is set in a post-apocalyptic future, the house is the only thing still on the surface in a city completely devastated by what appears to be a flood. Now it's an apartment surrounded by water that rents out Rooms and its owner is a cat named Rosa (Susan Wokoma) who can't get her only two tenants to pay her rent; a young man named Elijah (Will Sharpe) pays her with fish and a hippie (very astrological) named Jen (Helena Bonham Carter) pays her with crystals. Anyway, it all gets out of hand when a mystical friend of Jen's named Cosmos (Paul Kaye), comes to visit and shows them all that it's time to leave the house, but Rosa is determined to stay.

En el primer acto tenemos la historia de una familia pobre del siglo XIX . Raymond (Matthew Goode) es un hombre que es constantemente avergonzado por sus tíos cuando vienen a visitar a su última hija Isobel (Elanor De Swaef-Roels). Vagando por el bosque borracho y frustrado, recibe una oferta que no puede rechazar de un perturbado arquitecto llamado Van Schoonbeck (Barney Pilling); quién promete construir gratis una mansión para su familia si abandonan su vieja casa. La nueva casa es enorme y totalmente cerrada pero guarda consigo un montón de secretos que descubre la hija mayor de la familia Mabel (Mia Goth). Mientras tanto el malvado arquitecto no para de hacer cambios a la casa y su representante Thomas (Mark Heap), pierde la cabeza.
La segunda historia (es una historia con ratones eww) está ambientada en la actualidad y relata la vida de un vendedor de casas (Jarvis Cocker) quién renueva casas para venderlas a un precio alto y quién en su última adquisición ha puesto todos sus ahorros en la renovación de una mansión. Termina por renovarla satisfactoriamente pero su felicidad se derrumba cuando se encuentra con una invasión de escarabajos. Aun así, organiza una exhibición en la que intenta vender la casa y debe asegurarse de que esté totalmente lista, es así como termina fumigando cada espacio de la mansión, pero sus esfuerzos son infructuosos. La mayoría de los posibles compradores muestran poco interés, excepto por una extraña pareja (Sven Wolter e Yvonne Lombard) quienes dicen estar "muy interesados" por la vivienda. Están tan interesados que básicamente se mudan sin haber comprado.

The movie was billed as a scary comedy, but I think it's more the latter than the former. Above all, the first story is creepy and disturbing, however, if there is something I enjoyed in the 3 acts it was the incredible textures of the stop-motion and yes I know I already mentioned it, but in this specific case the terror is felt even in the profiles of the characters which is wonderful.
The second story was weird, very bizarre perhaps, it seemed to me the one that had the most social criticism and the one that impacted me the most visually because of the details it had. The fact that they were rats is disgusting, but in the end I think it has a message: if there were a catastrophe the only ones to survive would be the rats and the bugs.
The third story is the one that best defines its characters, their names and their feelings. It is a very tender cat story and the one that had the best reception for my taste, well acted, well done and definitely the one that ends the best. Undoubtedly it was a great closure for a story with 3 acts quite distant from each other.
Mi Opinión
La película se presentaba como una comedia aterradora, pero creo que es más lo segundo que lo primero. Sobre todo, la primera historia que es espeluznante y perturbadora, sin embargo, si hay algo que disfrute en los 3 actos fueron las increíbles texturas del stop-motion y sí sé que ya lo mencioné, pero en este caso en específico el terror se siente hasta en los perfiles de los personajes lo cual es maravillo.
La segunda historia fue rara muy bizarra quizás, me pareció la que más crítica social tuvo y la que más me impacto visualmente por los detalles que tenía. El hecho de que fueran ratas es asqueroso, pero al final creo que tiene un mensaje: si hubiera una catástrofe los únicos en sobrevivir serían las ratas y los bichos.
La tercera historia por su parte es la que mejor define a sus personajes, sus nombres y sus sentimientos. Es una historia de gatos muy tiernos y la que mejor recepción tuvo para mi gusto, bien actuada, bien lograda y definitivamente la que mejor termina. Sin lugar a dudas fue un gran cierre para una historia con 3 actos bastante distantes entre sí.
A common thing I found in the stories is that all the characters wanted to renovate their old houses, for different reasons, but in my opinion with the same ambition. However, the message that got to me the most was that of Rosa the cat, who in her eagerness to hold on to the material ends up being mowed down by ambition without realizing how valuable her tenants were.
But without a doubt what I enjoyed the most was the animation, Nexus Studios deserves all the ovations in the world because transmitting so much in images was absolutely wonderful. I don't even know how to explain it, but I felt the skin of each of the characters, the scariest thing is that what seemed like fantasy before is now more real than reality and that's amazing. Finally, I did not want to close my opinion without first recommending that you see it, it is certainly a great option because it is interesting, different and above all a very unusual proposal in the Netflix catalog.
Algo común que encontré en las historias es que todos los personajes querían renovar sus casas viejas, por razones distintas, pero a mí parecer con la misma ambición. Sin embargo, el mensaje que más me llegó fue el de la gata Rosa, quién en su afán de aferrarse a lo material termina segada por la ambición sin darse cuenta de lo valiosos que eran sus inquilinos.
Pero sin duda lo que más disfruté fue la animación, es que Nexus Studios se merece todas las ovaciones del mundo porque transmitir tanto en imágenes fue absolutamente maravilloso. Ni sé cómo explicarlo, pero sentí la piel de cada uno de los personajes, lo más aterrador es que lo que antes parecía fantasía ahora es más real que la realidad y eso es asombroso. Por último, no quería cerrar mi opinión sin antes recomendar que la vean, sin duda es una gran opción por qué es interesante, diferente y sobre todo una propuesta bastante inusual en el catálogo de Netflix.
Tengo que aclarar que no me gustan las antologías, no me gusta ver diferentes historias y quedarme con la intriga de las historias, siendo Amor, Muerte + Robots de las pocas que me han gustado y en este caso The House, pero solo por el aspecto del stopmotion que le metieron.
Es que al final el gancho que me atrapo para terminar de ver esta película es su primer historia, siendo las dos las que estaban buenas y me dejaron con cosas que pensar me quede con las ganas de saber que era lo que pasaba en la historia y si habria continuación.
La segunda historia fue un "meh" para mí, aunque me dejo con la intriga de que era lo que estaba pasando y no pude armar el hilo de cuál fue el propósito de la misma historia si alguien lo entendió por favor ponérmelo en un comentario para intentar comprenderlo mejor.
Por ultimo la tercera historia se me hace mas una historia del tipo filosófico, donde nos muestra que existen momentos en los que debemos de aprender a dejar las cosas y no aferrarnos a ellas, que hay momentos en que es mejor despedirnos y aunque no tenemos certeza alguna de lo que va a pasar, funciona también como algo liberador y entender que aunque tengamos planes de algo en concreto, existen cosas que tal vez eviten que lo logres y tienes que aprender a liberarte de ello.
No se ustedes, sigo teniendo problemas con las antalogias, me hubiera gustado saber mas de la primer historia o incluso antes de la misma, se que son autoconlusivas, pero tengo ese pique por querer saber mas. Por otro lado me gusto el stop motion que emplearon y me trajo a recuerdos cuando vi la pelicula de "El fantástico Sr Zorro", sobre todo con la tercer historia.
Desde varios puntos de vista, desde varios años de diferencia, se cuenta la historia de una casa peculiar por donde algunos personajes hacen su historia allí, algunos en busca de salvación, otros en busca de redención, lo único que los une a todos es donde habitan, una enorme y hermosa casa.
SYNOPSIS
From various points of view, from several years apart, the story of a peculiar house is told where some characters make their story there, some in search of salvation, others in search of redemption, the only thing that unites them all is where they inhabit, a huge and beautiful house.
La Casa, una nueva película en Stop Motion de Netflix, debo decir que Netflix puede llegar a tener buenas decisiones como malas, resaltando más las que todos sabemos que son las peores, se salva de quedar en el olvido por crear este estilo de películas o series. Decidí verme esta película por ser corta, una duración de una hora con treinta minutos, algo para pasar el rato, como siempre digo, siempre hace falta una película corta para consumir la dosis diaria de entretenimiento.
La película se divide en tres partes, empezamos con la historia de una familia de fieltro que viven en no muy buenas situaciones, pero que de la nada una persona decide construirles una casa, cambiando por completo la vida de esta familia de cuatro. Quede hipnotizado por la manera en como esta hecha, lo que más me pudo dejar boquiabierto fue la animación del fuego, es muy ingeniosa y se ve espectacular, como las puntas destacan para que se de a notar que es fieltro con lo que esta hecho. El diseño de personajes no me gusta del todo, aunque eso es opinión personal, todas las facciones de la cara en medio y reducido es algo que ya he visto, pero que no me agrada verlo en este cuento de terror.
En la segunda historia tenemos a una rata constructora que intenta vender una casa que lleva toda su vida construyendo. La casa empieza a ser infestadas por insectos, desesperando al dueño por sus futuros compradores. La historia se vuelve más inquietante y te hace sentir más paso a paso, no pudiendo descansar de los escalofríos que te pudo dejar la primera parte esta te hace molestar en ciertos puntos, pero solo por la historia contada de como abusan de la confianza del protagonista, comparando el final de los tres cuentos, este me gustó más a nivel visual.
La tercera y ultima historia es de una casera que intenta arreglar una casa hecha pedazos que esta en el medio de la nada, teniendo dos únicos inquilinos que no tienen para pagar la renta. Teniendo las otras historias que pudieron terminar de una mala manera para los protagonistas, solo te queda ese sentimiento de que todo saldrá mal en su tercera entrega, esperando un golpe rotundo que te deje devastado, pero la realidad es otra al llegar el final, dejando un momento para analizar todo lo que viste, de un gran trabajo en Stop Motion.
La película esta dirigida por cuatro personas, dos de ellas se encargaron de la primera parte y las otras dos respectivamente del resto de la película. Al leer información de ellos vi que tienen bastante experiencia en el campo y no es para menos dado este resultado de una película animada en Stop Motion para adultos. Siempre he sentido gran atracción por la animación para adultos, es un trabajo enorme hacer que unas figuras que la mayoría puede ver como para niños sea algo para consumo de un adulto, esta película no solo es para un entretenimiento momentáneo, es una prueba de que la animación no es solo figuras puestas para entretener.
Cada parte de la película va en una secuencia, el pasado de la casa, el presente de la casa y el futuro de la casa, aunque no se sabe como pasa de un momento a otro o como termina siendo el mundo como el final de la película, igual no debería haber una segunda parte de esta película porque para saber que paso en el medio de cada historia, esta la imaginación, en esos casos, cada respuesta es la correcta, y eso me encanta.
OPINION
The House, a new Netflix Stop Motion movie, I must say that Netflix can have good decisions as well as bad ones, highlighting more those that we all know are the worst, it is saved from being forgotten by creating this style of movies or series. I decided to watch this movie because it is short, lasting one hour and thirty minutes, something to pass the time, as I always say, a short movie is always needed to consume the daily dose of entertainment.
The film is divided into three parts, we begin with the story of a family of felt who live in not very good situations, but out of nowhere a person decides to build them a house, completely changing the life of this family of four. I was mesmerized by the way it was made, what could leave me speechless the most was the animation of the fire, it is very ingenious and it looks spectacular, as the tips stand out so that you can see that it is felt with what it is made of. I don't like the character design at all, although that's my personal opinion, all the features of the face in the middle and reduced is something I've already seen, but I don't like to see it in this horror story.
In the second story we have a construction rat who is trying to sell a house that he has been building all his life. The house becomes infested with insects, making the owner desperate for future buyers. The story becomes more disturbing and makes you feel more like that step by step, not being able to rest from the chills that the first part could leave you with, this makes you bother at certain points, but only because of the story told of how they abuse the trust of the protagonist Comparing the ending of the three stories, I liked this one more visually.
The third and final story is about a landlady trying to fix up a broken house in the middle of nowhere, with only two tenants who can't pay the rent. Having the other stories that could end in a bad way for the protagonists, you only have that feeling that everything will go wrong in its third installment, waiting for a resounding blow that leaves you devastated, but the reality is another when the end comes, leaving a moment to analyze everything you saw, from a great job on Stop Motion.
The film is directed by four people, two of them were in charge of the first part and the other two respectively of the rest of the film. When reading information about them, I saw that they have a lot of experience in the field and it is not for less given this result of an animated film in Stop Motion for adults. I have always felt a great attraction for animation for adults, it is a huge job to make figures that most can see as for children something for adult consumption, this film is not only for momentary entertainment, it is proof that animation is not just figures put on to entertain.
Each part of the film goes in a sequence, the past of the house, the present of the house and the future of the house, although it is not known how it happens from one moment to another or how the world ends up being like the end of the movie. There shouldn't be a second part of this movie because to know what happened in the middle of each story, there is the imagination, in those cases, each answer is correct, and I love that.

A few days ago this thing was released, I don't know if I should call it a series because it has three chapters, or a movie because the three chapters are together, but none of that matters, it was fervently recommended to me because I love stop-motion, and The House is another example of how wonderful it is, each chapter is different, but at the same time equally disturbing, I loved them completely.
The House is going to tell us three different stories, between different times, with different people, all taking place in the same house. Chapter one was the one that scared me the most, chapter two was the one that grossed me out the most, and chapter three was the one that made me cry. Each one is masterfully done, there is no loss whatsoever.
Hace unos días se estrenó esta cosa que no sé si llamar serie porque tiene tres capítulos, o película porque los tres capítulos están juntos, pero nada de eso importa, me la recomendaron fervientemente teniendo en cuenta que yo amo el stopmotion, y The House es una muestra más de lo maravilloso que es, cada capítulo diferente, mas a la vez igual de perturbadores, los amé por completo.
The House nos va a contar tres historias diferentes, entres tiempos diferentes, con personas diferentes, todo teniendo lugar en la misma casa. El capítulo uno fue el que más miedo me dio, el segundo fue el que más asco me causó, y el tercero fue el que me hizo llorar. Cada uno está magristralmente hecho, no hay pérdida alguna.
Chapter One
Capítulo Uno
In Chapter One they are going to tell us the story of a family that fell into poverty, one day they receive a visit from their relatives who are still rich, that day the father of the family loses control and one way or another ends up meeting the great architect, Mr. Van Schoonbeek, who without expecting anything in return, promises to build a house for his family, with the sole intention that everything is done for art, and only for art, and well, the end result is not what everyone expected.
I knew I was going to love The House completely when Mabel, the daughter of the family, asks the mother if the people who are coming to visit are good people, and the mother answers that no, they are not good people; at that moment the pleasure took over me and never left me. The feeling of distress, that something bad is happening and we do not realize it is something that never leaves us while watching this first chapter, the tension becomes so dense that it can suffocate us completely if we are careless.
It's amazing how parents' desires can become so strong, that just to get them, or just to keep themselves busy they forget that there are lives they brought into the world that depend on them, seeing Mabel and Isobel abandoned by their own parents in a house they couldn't leave was horrible. I identified too much.
En el Capítulo Uno nos van a contar la historia de una familia que cayó en la pobreza, un día reciven la visita de sus familiares que aún son ricos, ese día el padre de la familia pierde el control y de una forma u otra termina conociendo al gran arquitecto, el Sr. Van Schoonbeek, quien sin esperar nada a cambio, le promete construirle una casa para su familia, con tan sola intención de que todo lo hace por el arte, y solo por el arte, y pues bueno, el resultado final no es el que todos esperaban.
Sabía que iba a amar The House por completo cuando Mabel, la hija de la familia, le pregunta a la mamá si las personas que van a llegar de visita son buenas personas, y la mamá le responde que no, que no son buenas personas; en ese momento el placer se apoderó de mí y no me abandonó nunca. El sentimiento de congoja, de que algo malo está sucediendo y no nos damos cuenta es algo que no nos abandona nunca mientras vemos este primer capítulo, se hace tan densa la tensión que nos puede llegar a asfixiar por completo si nos descuidados.
Es increíble la forma en que los deseos de los padres pueden llegar a ser tan fuertes, que tan solo por conseguirlos, o simplemente por mantenerse ocupados llegan a olvidarse de que hay vidas que trajeron al mundo y que dependen de ellos, ver a las Mabel e Isobel abandonadas por sus propios padres en una casa de la que no podían salir fue horrible. Me identifiqué demasiado.
Chapter Two
Capítulo Dos
I remember this chapter and it gives me chills. Here we are going to meet a contractor who fired all the employees to remodel the house and then show it for sale, but during the whole process of remodeling the house he encounters a plague of cockroaches that make his life impossible, but everything is solved for the day where he must open the doors of the house to the public and get it sold, and everything goes great until two people interested in the house turn his world upside down.
This chapter is devastating, it is much more visual and sensory than the previous one, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't have a strong emotional impact, because it does, and it can be the worst of the three, because it talks about even if you do everything you plan to do, even if you have the best intentions and you are a good person, things will not always go the way you want, and you will not get what you think you deserve as a good person that you are.
This chapter has a song called 'The Musical Nightmare' and it is the crucial point of the story, because it is what happens many times with people who despite giving everything of themselves, and not achieving the goal, succumb to madness, and after that scene, which I will not describe how disgusting and incredible it is, our contractor leaves goes to a higher plane where he loses himself and it is impossible to recover.
Recuerdo este capítulo y me dan escalofríos. Aquí nos vamos a encontrar con un contratista que despidió a todos los empleados para él solo remodelar la casa y después mostrarla para ponerla en venta, pero durante todo el proceso de remodelación de la casa se encuentra con una plaga de cucarachas que le llegan a hacer la vida imposible, pero todo se soluciona para el día donde debe abrir las puertas de la casa al público y así conseguir venderla, y todo va de maravilla hasta que dos personas interesadas en la casa vuelven a poner su mundo patas arriba.
Este capítulo es devastador, es mucho más visual y sensorial que el anterior, igual no quiere decir que no tenga un impacto emocional tan fuerte, pues lo tiene, y puede llegar a ser el peor de los tres, pues habla de aunque se haga todo lo que se planea, aunque se tengan las mejores intenciones y se sea una buena persona, las cosas no siempre van a salir como se quieren, y tampoco se obtendrá lo que uno cree que merece como una persona buena que se es.
Este capítulo tiene una canción que se llama 'The Musical Nightmare' y es el punto crucial de la historia, pues es lo que ocurre muchas veces con las personas que a pesar de que dan todo de sí mismas, y no se logra el objetivo, sucumben a la locura, y después de esa escena, que no se las voy a describir de lo asquerosa e increíble que es, nuestro contratista deja pasa a un plano mayor donde se pierde a sí mismo y es imposible de recuperar.
Chapter Three
Capítulo Tres
This third chapter is the lightest of the three, but just as desperate, Rose, the landlady of the house, is desperately trying to get her tenants to pay her rent so she can afford all the repairs that the house needs, but there is a big drawback that Rose does not see and it was one of the strongest things of the series, because sometimes even though we want to do something there are many things that simply do not allow it.
There was a flood and the house on top of the hill was the only one that survived, but it won't be that way for long because the water keeps rising and is already getting into the house, regardless Rose is engrossed in that she must repair it so more people can get to the house... It was sad to see Rose in that situation, so much so that the decisive moment when she finally opens her eyes brought tears to my eyes. Many times we don't see the reality because of how painful it becomes, but it's something necessary, we can't always live on illusions.
This series/movie is magnificent, the soundtrack made by Gustavo Santaolalla is superb, the animation is beautiful, the stories are incredible, perfect to spend an afternoon watching them and end up with the traumas at the surface and the imperious need to distract yourself to forget them.
Este tercer capítulo es el más ligero de los tres, pero igual de desesperante, Rose, la casera de la casa, se encuentra desesperada tratando de que sus inquilinos le paguen la renta para así ella poder costear todas las reparaciones que la casa necesita, pero hay un gran inconvenciente que Rose no ve y fue una de las cosas más fuertes de la serie, pues a veces aunque queremos hacer algo hay muchas cosas que simplemente no lo permiten.
Hubo una inundación y la casa en la cima de la colina fue la única que sobrevivió, pero no será así por mucho porque el agua sigue subiendo y ya está entrando en la casa, sin importar eso Rose está enfrascada en que debe repararla para que más personas lleguen a la casa... Fue triste ver a Rose en esa situación, tanto así que el momento decisivo en el que ella finalmente abre los ojos me hizo llorar. Muchas veces no vemos la realidad por lo dolorosa que llega a ser, pero es algo necesario, no siempre podemos vivir de ilusiones.
Esta serie/película es magnífica, el soundtrack hecho por Gustavo Santaolalla es magnífico, la animación es preciosa, las historias increíbles, perfectas para pasar una tarde a gusto viéndolas y terminar con los traumas a flor de piel y la necesidad imperiosa de distraerse para olvidarlos.
For the most part, I am a pretty big fan of Will Ferell and even think that he could be a pretty great serious actor if he wanted to. The closest attempt at that which I have seen is a movie called Stranger than Fiction which I found Ferell's character, who had almost no comedic moments, to be pretty great and he kinda nailed the role.
There is a reason why the man doesn't really focus on non-comedic roles though and that is because they don't make money. This is true with a number of other comedy stars most notibly Adam Sandler, whose best work has been in non-comedy roles and all of those films have either lost money, or made so little that it is easy to understand why he doesn't often pursue such roles.
Will's comedies make tons of money for the most part and this is why he commands such a massive price tag to be involved in them. If you want Will to be in your movie you better be prepared to shell out 10-20 million dollars or you can go ahead and forget about it. In one particular movie, Will was paid an estimated $15 million for his role and the movie flat out sucked IMO.
This is a film about a couple that wants to sent their money to a very expensive private college but then realizes that they don't have anywhere near the amount of money necesssary to do so. They figure out by accident one day that they can make a ton of money by running a casino inside of their own home.
Does it sound stupid and impractical yet? Well it would be because there is no way that something like this would be able to be kept secret and I'm not saying that I need my films to be plausible for me to enjoy them (fantasy and sci-fi are 2 of my favorite styles of films) but absurdity isn't something I generally go for.
They end up needing to strong-arm people that don't pay them on time and I guess there are a few laughs in there but for the most part this movie is just stupid and not in "Anchorman was also stupid" type way either.
Should I watch it?
In case it hasn't been evident from what I have alrady written above this film is not good. The best moments and the only ones that are likely to make you laugh are already in the trailer above. This movie is a waste of time and is also one of the lowest rated movies that Will has done ever. It is also one of the few that lost a bunch of money.
It is currently available on Netflix in most regions but seriously.... don't waste your time. Will Ferrell is considered one of the most "risky" stars for studios to put in their films because he commands a massive paycheck yet after advertising expenses, very few of his films actually turn the sort of profits that the studios hope for. I don't know how much longer he can keep this up, but with a net worth of an estimated $160 million, I would imagine we don't need to get the gofundme started for him just yet.

Will Ferell is one of my favorite comedy actors of all time. Three of my most often quoted films are his in Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers. He has a few turds mixed in his filmography but I even enjoyed his only non comedy film I am aware of, Stranger than Fiction.
While not a new film, it is new to Netflix just like the title suggests. there are spoilers ahead
The story here is that Scott and Kate Johnson (Ferrell and Poehler) are normal parents to a academically gifted daughter who gets into a prestigious college that was meant to be on a scholarship. When said scholarship is pulled at the last minute, they don't know how they are going to pay for her schooling.
Through talking to their gambling addicted friend Frank (Jason Mantzoukas) they come up with the idea to run an unlicensed casino in his house in order to make enough money for their daughter's tuition.
There are a lot of reasons why this movies isn't funny but a great deal of it simply lies in the fact that the jokes are not good. Think about how there was at least a motif in Anchorman of Ron Burgandy being a undeserving arrogant womanizer or how Ricky Bobby was an idiot that was just a good race car driver. Scott (again, Ferell) has no real character other than the fact that he is not good at math (and they return to this characteristic entirely too often.)
The other reason that this film is dumb is because it is completely impractical. They are able to make a ton of money off of people they are friends with in their local community yet all of these people keep coming back and no one talks to the police? Come on now. They open a disco in their backyard and none of the neighbors complain?
The idea that they all gradually turn into fearless gangsters with the entire community afraid to cross them is supposed to be funny, but it just isn't... nor is it believable since none of them are physically imposing. I'm probably overthinking this but even the one-liners are just stupid.

What else can I say really? This film has no redeeming qualities and even made Nick Kroll boring. It squanders a talented cast with a poor script that has no plausibility whatsoever. The story progression is dumb as are the eventual "bad guys" that are introduced into the plot. This movie ended up losing millions against its $40 million budget. Honestly, when I watch this film I can't imagine what they spent the $40 million on other than perhaps the 10+ million that Ferrell probably demands as a salary.
Overall Rating! 2.5/10
It would have gotten an "Urgh!" but i have too much love for Ferrell's past work to do that and I laughed a couple times. Plus I feel bad for Amy Poeler because I believe she is a genuinely funny person who just gets bad roles
