  1. The Lost City – Spoiler Free Movie Review@readingdanvers1029d

    The lost city poster.jpg

The Lost City is an adventure comedy starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe which came out in March 2022. It is directed by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee. Brad Pitt has a small but very impressive cameo in this movie. This movie was a silly blast. It knows that it is absolutely ridicules and just rolls with it and as a result you roll with it too. I even watched it at the cinema when it came out and I also watched it again recently and still enjoyed it.

The movie follows Loretta Sage who is played by Sandra Bullock. Loretta is a writer who writes romantic adventure novels. Even though she becomes a recluse after her husband's death, her publisher insists that she goes on a promotional tour for her latest book. But she doesn't go alone, she goes with the cover model for her novels, Alan Caprison (Channing Tatum) who sort of believes that he is Dash McMahon, the main male character from the books. However, he is the male equivalent of a dumb blond. Their tour does not go as planned as she is not built for publicity or public.

But things get worse. She steps outside to get some fresh air and gets kidnapped. Her book focuses on the lost city, which draws the attention of Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe), who is an eccentric rich man who wants to find the treasure of the lost city in order to prove himself to his family and will stop at nothing to find it. He loves Loretta's book and thinks that because it is so professionally written she will be able to find the treasure. He tries to get her consent, but after failing he continues to hold her hostage and flies her to the island he thinks the city is in. Because he is crazy over the top evil like that.

Loretta's team notices that she is missing, but can't actually do anything about it. So Caprison who still thinks that he is Dash decides to fly to rescue her. Even though he has zero skills to perform such a task. The result is entertaining, very entertaining.

As Bullock is playing an author of romance adventure novels this movie has a lot of references to books of this type. It both makes fun of them, I mean Dash clearly looks like a young Fabio, and also embraces them, because parts of this movie are made for the same audience. Although this movie mainly keeps it PG-13, but the erotic jokes are walking the line.

Everyone in this movie is clearly having a blast filming it. Bullock and Tatum have very good chemistry and work well together. Bullock is the lead and has that lead actress charisma. She carries this movie on her shoulder with Tatum's help. He is so funny here. Dumb blond is an apt description of his character and sure he has a few redeeming qualities, but not too many. Daniel Radcliffe clearly enjoyed playing the crazy unhinged rich lunatic. He just goes to town with it. And Brad Pitt has a hilarious cameo full of action and comedy, I mean he just kills it. I had a blast watching him clearly having a blast. Everyone in this movie just radiated funny and fun.

Sure, this movie isn't a standout by any means. But if you are looking for a fun action movie, you should give this one a chance.

  2. CineTV Contest: 42 - Sandra Bullock in The Lost City (2022)@thunderjack1268d

This weekend My Bonnie Bride, our daughter, Little Miss and I watched The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock. When we saw the trail for this film in the theater last year, it was a film that interested us in seeing, but somehow we missed seeing it during its release. So, to start off with, this is a fun adventure film with a bit of humor mixed in, and, as the central character is a romance novelist, yeah, a bit of romance to boot.

lost_city_poster.png The Lost City poster - IMDB

The story revolves around romance/adventure novelist Loretta Sage (Bullock) being kidnapped by a wealth nutcase Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe) to find a great treasure that he believes is located on a remote island, reminiscent to Sage’s most recent novel, which has many similarities to the history of the treasure that Fairfax is pursuing. Alan (Channing Tatum), Sage’s cover model, sets off to rescue Sage, along with the almost capable contract hero named Jack Trainer (Brad Pitt) who is sporting a bit of a Thorish look in this film. One thing leads to another and rescuing Sage involves a few Desperate Failures. Meanwhile Sage’s agent, Beth (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) also sets out to rescue Beth, recruiting Oscar (Oscar Nunez) to assist along the way. By the way, if you’ve seen The Lost City, then you understand why I refer to Jack as “almost capable”. If you haven’t seen it, then you’ll have to watch it to find out.

lost_city_2.png A Thorish-looking Brad Pitt with Sandra Bullock - IMDB

There is so much to like about this film, starting with the unlikely pairing of Randolph and Nunez, who play wonderfully together, and Nunez’s character Oscar is such a fun guy, and Beth is delight to watch. Tatum as the cover model wants to be hero turns in a fine performance, and his character grows into something more than a cover model, while serving as a catalyst for Sage’s own personal growth.

Now I have to admit that when CineTV popped Sandra Bullock films as a contest subject I was like – I’ve seen two of her movies (three now) – The Net and Miss Congeniality, both of which I have seen once. This film, The Lost City, is, to me, a far better film and is a lot of fun. Bullock has in the past shown she can handle dramatic roles as well as comedy, and this film combines both into a thrilling adventure where even one of the bad guys can provide comedic relief. Again, if you’ve seen the movie, you’ll understand what I mean by “bad guy providing comedy relief”. Call this a cliff-hanger, if you will.

lost_city_1.png Sandra Bullock in one of the most beautiful scenes in the film - IMDB

There is so much to like about this film in addition to the fine performances of the main and supporting cast members. Set design, scenery, music score, the story and photography are excellent. One scene where Sage and Alan are having a respite from pursuit in a small, remote town, there is an opportunity for them to dance together, to some very beautiful music. Specifically a song that is local to the fictional community that the film takes place in, sung by one of the locals (played by Olga Bucarelli – thanks IMDB).

If you get the feeling that we liked this film , you are right. Also, keep in mind that midway through the end credits is an additional scene that is a must see. Of the three Sandra Bullock films I have seen, this is my favorite. If you haven’t seen it, I think you’ll enjoy it.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  3. The Lost City (film): Surprisingly good action comedy film@netflixr1362d

I went into this film feeling as though it was going to be goofy and to be honest it was goofy, that much was expected simply by seeing the trailer and the fact that Channing Tatum was in the cast. Any sort of action-adventure comedy film has potential though in my book especially when you introduce a couple of wild cards into the cast.

    image.png src

I feel as though Sandra Bullock is a really fantastic actress and she can make almost any type of film worth watching. Off the top of my head I can't really think of any super terrible films that she has been in although I did not watch Miss Congeniality or the sequel which won a Raspberry Award. She is very versatile and brings a certain something to every role that I don't think many other actresses could equal.

In this film she plays the role of romantic novelist named Loretta Sage who has kind of lost touch with her craft and her heart just isn't in it anymore. There are a lot of emotional reasons for this being the case that I will not spoil since it is kind of an important part of the plot and I think that people should watch this film.

Channing Tatum plays the role of her books' cover model and is named Alan Caprison. He is kind of like a "Fabio" in that the imagery on the books is ridiculous and even he knows this.

The two of them end up inadvertently going on an adventure on an island searching for some real-life treasure. This is meant to be funny because the topic of Loretta's books is normally exactly this sort of situation but she and Alan are not the adventurous type and are seriously out of their element when faced with a jungle or off-road environment.

    image.png src

The action is absurd and impractical but in a way it kind of reminded me of the type of stuff that we would see in the The Mummy but without the supernatural CGI stuff. This isn't as good as those films of course and I don't see this turning into a trilogy even thought it managed to make nearly $200 million at the box office which is probably good enough considering their $70 million budget.

The casting of Daniel Radcliffe as the main baddy is telegraphed and is also in the trailer so I don't consider writing this to be a spoiler. You would have figured it out really quickly anyway. He does a good job of not acting like Harry Potter, which is something that I would imagine he struggles with in his professional career. He certainly isn't a menacing physical presence but his portrayal as a rich guy with evil and sociopathic objectives is pulled off pretty well.

    image.png src

There is another cameo that I am not going to spoil because I don't think it appears in the trailer that you are absolutely going to love and for me and I think most people, it was kind of the highlight of the movie. Trust me, you'll know it when you see it.

Ok nevermind, he is in the trailer but trust me... you'll love it when you get to his part in the film.

    Should I watch it?

For people that enjoy variety and don't need their films to be something that is going to be nominated for Academy Awards in order to enjoy them, I think this is a pretty fun ride. It is silly, it's stupid, and it is completely impractical that almost any of this could actually happen in real life... got it? This is not meant to be anything other than a silly, impossible ride. Because of the cast I am ok with this actually though. Had it been the usual suspects like the Rock and Kevin Hart I would have likely skipped this but since Hollywood threw us a curveball by putting two unlikely co-stars at the helm, it actually kind of works really well.

You definitely aren't going to hurt your brain trying to figure out what is going on in this one. In that regard it can be considered a bit of brainless fun.

I liked it and I think that most other people will as well. This is a Paramount film so you will not find it on Netflix. I'm sure you are clever enough to figure out other ways of obtaining it.

Hi hive, today I come to talk about a movie I saw yesterday, I had no kind of expectation because I did not know about the existence of this movie, but it still caught my attention, for this reason is that today I come to talk about the Lost City.

The Lost City is an adventure/romantic comedy movie released in 2022, directed by Aaron and Adam Nee and starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe.

The movie shows us Loretta Sage, a novel writer who is kidnapped by a billionaire so that she can decipher a message for him to find the treasure on the lost island. To all this Alan (model of the book covers) goes to Loretta's rescue and the two get into a rather uneven adventure.

The lost city is one of those comedy movies that shows us our mismatched couple, putting them in random situations but one or the other manages to be funny and get a laugh, the comedy of this film is not very risky and experimental, but it does not pretend to be, it always tries to go to the common and safe.

    imagen

In the first minutes of the movie I found it hard to get hooked, I don't know why, but at the beginning I felt it was an empty movie and I couldn't take the situations seriously, but when the adventure starts and I understand that I'm watching a comedy/adventure movie I start to enjoy it a little more.

The performances in The Lost City are quite good and we couldn't expect anything less from this spectacular trio of actors, however the one who best gets into the role and is funny but can also be taken seriously is Daniel Radcliffe, for this reason he gets the best performance in my opinion.

    imagen

The premise of the movie is so but so absurd that it catches the attention and after we get into the context we manage to enjoy it, believe me I would have liked it even more if it had more of those absurd scenes because as I said even though it is a comedy movie it tries to risk as little as possible and I think it is a failure.

We can agree that this movie is a romantic comedy disguised as an indiana Jones, but this makes it possible to create different scenes (to those of a traditional romcom).

    895C2D71-0C17-4E40-BDEC-4D7FA050D800.jpeg

    imagen

It can be a very enjoyable movie as long as we are clear of what we are watching, as I said, at the beginning I felt it was missing but when I got into context I enjoyed it, it has good moments, not so good moments, several clichés and some good actors.

In conclusion a quite enjoyable movie, is it a masterpiece? Obviously not, but the movie itself accepts it and knows how to cope with it, so... I could say it's a good movie to pass the time or a Sunday movie, but there is not much beyond that.

From time to time, like anyone else, I enjoy watching an almost random movie in search of easy entertainment, this irregular habit is practically a lottery, where there is a minimal possibility of finding a quality work, but generally the results are disappointing.

However, it is very important to maintain a very specific mindset for those circumstances, with low expectations and willing to enjoy whatever comes our way.

    The-lost-city-e1641245748928.jpeg Source

In The Lost City, the film directed by Aaron and Adam Nee, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, we have several aspects that play in both places of the spectrum, being a charismatic adventure that will not have difficulties to entertain us, but at the same time with a pace and editing style that couldn't feel more amateurish and disconnected even if it wanted to.

On paper things are not so bad, the beautiful Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a writer of romantic novels and dissatisfied action with her own creations who ends up being kidnapped in order to decipher a hidden message that could lead to the eccentric millionaire Fairfax (Played by Daniel Radcliffe) to a lost island where the events of one of his novels curiously took place.

Sage, as a writer, would have preferred to write a little more formal anthropological texts, but in the midst of economic necessity and her innate ability to write quality romance, she ends up moving away from her true passions.

Enter the equation Alan, the young model who has always appeared on the cover of her novels and who decides to take on the mission of saving Loretta on his own.

This chaotic premise could be interpreted as a clever way to circumvent other adventure films such as Indiana Jones or the recent video game adaptation Uncharted, something that is evident considering the cynical nature with which the film is developed.

If you haven't seen The Lost City reading all these paragraphs, you can glimpse the big problem with this movie: The lack of focus.

What begins as a poignant satire on romantic literature and the world of social media evolves in a non-organic way into a modern adaptation of a Jules Verne book, then, without the viewer having processed this drastic change, it decides to become a buddy movie where its protagonists have undeniable chemistry, but constantly act irrationally.

There are ideas with potential and genuinely fun moments, but the overall product lacks any kind of impact or power to stick in our minds for more than a couple of minutes, is visually lazy, doesn't commit to its more ambitious concepts, and makes issues and conflicts out of nowhere.

Beyond the presence of Bullock and Tatum as a duo, as well as a couple of funny moments from Radcliffe, there is little value in The Lost City.

  6. The Lost City (2022), Movie Review@esther-emmanuel1483d

    TheLostCityPoster.jpg

Watching this movie was kind of tough for me because I fell asleep while watching it and then woke up to continue. Probably because I was exhausted when I started watching, but still I shouldn't have slept when I started watching it. It took me four hours to finish watching it and felt like I wasted my time. Well, I will go straight to the point to further save you from too much info about the movie.

'The Lost City movie is an action, adventure, and romance movie directed by the Nee Brothers who also wrote the screenplay together with other people. The storyline of the movie was developed by Seth Gordon. The movie featured a few famous actors like Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, and Daniel Radcliffe.

The movie revolves around Loretta as a fiction writer who writes a romantic - adventure about a lost ancient city with Dr. Angela and Dash as her main character. So she got Channing Tatum (Alan) to be her book cover model and to represent her male character (Dash), who is the romantic interest of her heroine character (Dr. Angela). As the movie progressed, Loretta was kidnapped by a billionaire (Abigail, not a female 😂), who found the lost ancient city described in her book on a remote Atlantic island. 'Abigail' didn't just discover the city for discovering sake, but found the city because he was after a priceless treasure called the 'crown of fire' that is said to be located in the city and also to get Loretta to help decipher the coded language of the city.

    IMG_20220606_132141.jpg

    IMG_20220606_131913.jpg

Having kidnapped Loretta, Alan provides a plan of how to rescue her with her manager and social media manager by recruiting Jack Trainer, a former Navy to help him rescue Loretta. So Alan located Loretta through her smartwatch on an island in the Atlantic and had Jack meet him there. As Alan arrives at the island, the adventure begins with the rescue of Lorreta which was successful but did last.

    IMG_20220606_132047.jpg

    IMG_20220606_132026.jpg

Loretta and Alan escaped into the Jungle with Abigail's men after them. As the chase continued, Abigail caught up with them and held them, hostage, as he led them to the cave where the 'Crown of Fire' is meant to be according to the tales of the Crown. So now, did Abigail get the 'Crown of Fire'? Did Loretta and Alan survive? In the end, was Loretta rescued? Well, you have to watch the movie so I will not give you spoilers.

    IMG_20220606_132001.jpg

    My Opinion About The Movie.

The movie was okay and entertaining with a little touch of comedy which made it to be a lightweight movie to watch at the cinema. I fell asleep watching this because it was kind of boring for me because the entire plot and storyline have been done recently in the movie Jungle cruise. What made me finish watching the movie after a 1hr 30mins nap was because of Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, and Daniel Radcliffe (Abigail 😂). These three actors gave me joy. I thought Harry Potter wouldn't be able to play his part (villain) well but he blended well with his part and portrayed his character well.

For me, Daniel Radcliffe stole the show. Without his vibe, I don't think there will be much comedy in the movie. He acted crazy and this character brought out and side of him in the industry. I hope more directors will recognize this talent and let him explore it more. He was perfect for his role, he gave actual laughable moments and he was unpredictable.

A mistake I realized while watching the movie was that there was no chemistry but Sandra and Channing. Their chemistry was dry and rigid. It felt shallow and I felt Channing tried his best to make the awkwardness they had during the film go away, but Sandra didn't make any attempt. Instead, she had chemistry with Brad Pitt which was wrong. Channing and Sandra are not compatible.

Rating this movie, it's 3.5 stars for me. The setting was okay, and the characters did well but there was no chemistry (Sandra and Channing). The storyline is a cliche kind of romance - an adventure story. It was a repetition for me. The action part was okay and I would recommend this movie for family comedy; a lightweight movie to watch with your loved ones. Also, I recommend the movie to you adults and adventure lovers. Is it me or is Brad Pitt aging like a fine wine? ☺️.

  7. The lost city and the mystery of the volcanic island / The Lost City / Review / (ENG/ESP)@lionsaturbix1490d

    Source / Fuente

Welcome my dear friends, lovers of movies, films and television series.
Today I come to share with you a movie released on March 25 of this year 2022, in this film we can find two of my favorite actors, as is the actress Sandra Bullock playing the role of Loretta Sage, we also have the actor named Daniel Radcliffe playing the role of Abigael Fairfax.

Honestly, the actor Daniel Radcliffe I have seen him only in the Harry Potter movies, since he has earned my acceptance as a good actor, seeing him in another movie other than the one I am used to I really like him, since I can notice that he plays a very extraordinary role in his movies, although in this one I am about to name he plays a role as a crazy and obsessive person to achieve his goals, it is also funny because his desire for power is amazing.
The actress Sandra Bullock also plays her role very well, I don't know why, but I guess it's her essence, but in all the movies I've seen of this actress she always has that essence as if she doesn't care about her life, it's as if all the things she does are done out of obligation, but eye, I mean it's the interpretation of her roles, not in her personality. Although also the ones I have seen she plays her role as a person who is in love with someone, but she is so blinded in that person that she does not see what she has around her, since there are other people who are in love with her, and she ends up having a relationship with her best friend or companion... at least that is what I have seen in some of her movies including this one.
This movie I mention to you is called The Lost City, it falls into the genres of Action and adventure.

Now I will mention the role played by these two actors that I liked a lot and that are my favorites, so first let's start with Daniel Radcliffe.
As I mentioned before, in this film he plays the role of Abigael Fairfax, which makes him an obsessive person with the desire to prove to his family that he is not a good-for-nothing, and that his ambitions would lead him to total wealth, as he feels a certain record with his older brother because they always applaud him for what he does and not him, making him the black sheep of his family.
The greatest desire he has is to find a lost object more than thousands of years old, in which his search will end up driving him crazy.

Now let's talk about the actress Sandra Bullock, she plays her role as Loretta Sage, in this film she becomes a depressed person due to the death of her husband, she is also a famous writer creating books with romantic and passionate atmospheres, something that only women can understand.

At all times she plays her role as if she did not care about her life, since it makes no sense to live it without her husband, this ends up affecting her psychologically, even with her work, giving her many complications with her trusted friend and community manager, who is the one who helps her to push her books to stardom.

Now let's talk a little about what the story is about.

The story is based on a mysterious object called the crown of fire, where according to the legend it belongs to a strange civilization lost over the years, but...
Is it really that object, or is it just the story of a book?

What Loretta did not expect, is that his book would be turned into a discovery that could make many millionaires, capturing the attention of media moguls, who a millionaire man has a certain obsession in collecting hidden objects around the world, but the one that has captured the most attention is an extremely striking object that could even be the envy of the world, as generation after generation of his family have tried to find this object.

This mysterious object will not be easy to find, since Loretta will have to continue the investigations that her deceased husband was doing in order to find the collector's item that Abigael desires so much with his soul.

Of course, they will try to kidnap her, but she always looks for a way to get ahead with the help of her friends, this adventure will be very useful to recover the emotions she had lost when she lost her husband. And she will undoubtedly fall in love with her friend, thanks to the fact that he has always been there for her.

The island of the lost civilization and the volcano that is about to erupt, apparently Abigael has been very busy looking for this mysterious object forgotten by the world, since the last thing he has found is the lost civilization that protected the object that Abigael has been looking for a whole year.
Does this mysterious object really exist, or is it just a man showing his love for his wife?

The scroll describing the exact location of the object hidden by the world, Abigael asks Loretta to investigate the piece of parchment he found in the depths of the lost civilization.
Thanks to Loretta's husband who was a researcher and archaeologist, he is able to discover the location of this mysterious object, since it is the same one he has been trying to find for years.

The movie is perhaps more of the same. The story doesn't really matter. Hello friends, welcome to my blog, a few days ago I saw this movie “The Lost City”, because I am a big fan of Sandra Bullock and I love her performances, she is very versatile and can jump from drama to comedy. Directed by Aaron and Adam Nee and written by Dana Fox and Oren Uziel, this film is a comedy that combines romance, adventure and treasure hunting. Channing Tatum also acts alongside Sandra, who will be her adventure partner, Daniel Radcliffe, the villain of the story and the special appearance of Brad Pitt, who despite having a short appearance dazzles us with her, as a specialist in bailing out.

During one of her presentations she is kidnapped by a billionaire (Daniel), who upon reading the book realizes that it bears similarity to a legendary place of treasures that has been searched for centuries and thinks that she can discover the key to its location. . Being kidnapped Alan decides that he must rescue her from her and together with the agent of her books, they seek to hire a rescue specialist to help them in the mission. Here begins a series of situations that will lead Alan along with Brad Pitt, to locate her to save her.

The film is full of funny moments and interesting action scenes that keep you attentive to the screen. The romance will be born between Loretta and Alan, but in a subtle way at first. I think the chemistry between Sandra and Tatum is extraordinary, you can see that on stage. Which makes the characters of both believable. Other performances that despite the short duration he had on the tape is that of Brad, making fun of the stereotypes of adventure heroes. Each of his scenes, especially the action scenes, were fantastic and I wish his role had more time on the tape. In my opinion, the character that is not up to par is that of the villain, Daniel feels overreacted in his scenes, he does not have a clear reason to commit his misdeeds.

The Lost City is a movie that manages to entertain with its comedic scenes, solid performances (with a few exceptions), and action scenes that keep you on your toes. Love the chemistry that Sandra and Tatum have. If I have to say something negative, it is that it does not present an original story, it does not contribute anything new in this type of adventure movies, treasure hunts and romance, seeing it you know where the shots come from. Despite this, it is worth seeing because you will have a pleasant time watching it and laughing at those moments that Sandra and Tatum's performances show us.

If you want to entertain yourself for two hours and laugh, this is your movie, which leaves no message, lesson or learning. It is a film with the pure desire to entertain and have fun for two hours, under that premise you must see it. Obviously, this makes it a forgettable movie and one that you probably won't repeat, as these types of films usually are, but one that we don't hesitate to watch when we just want to relax for a while. So if you want to laugh for a while do not hesitate to see it.
