  1. The Man From Toronto (2022) || Movie Review.@esther-emmanuel846d

    IMG_20240304_131336.jpg

Over the weekend, I decided to go rampant on movies or series that have been sitting on my watchlist for a long time now. ’The Man From Toronto (2022)’ has been on my watchlist for a long time and it is my fault that I haven't made time to watch it all this while because of Kelvin Hart. I don't like him at all, he gives me the ick and he aggravates me. Unfortunately, he is always paired with actors that I like sometimes. So this makes me want to watch his movies, not because of him.

’The Man From Toronto (2022)’ is a comedy action film that was distributed by Netflix and directed by Patrick Hughes. The movie centers around a deadly assassin and New York's biggest screw-up of a man who were mistaken for each other at an Airbnb rental. It starred Kelvin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Jasmine Mathews, Kaley Cuoco, Pierson Fode, Ellen Barkin, Jencarlos Canela, Alejandro De Hoyos, Lela Lorenzo and Kate Drummond.

Teddy Jackson (Hart) is a man who is a struggling fitness entrepreneur in Virginia. With so many different business trials, no one yielded. He then was fired from his job at a local because of his dumbness and stupidity. However, when he gets home, he lies to his wife about his job. Afterwards, he takes his wife to a weekend getaway in Onancock to celebrate his wife's birthday for the first time.

    IMG_20240304_174423.jpg

To go secure their rented cabin, Teddy left his wife at a spa to go check-in. Upon arrival to the address of the cabin, he realized that he went to the wrong cabin when a named Coughlin is being held hostage and torture for information there. Teddy was mistaken for "The Man from Toronto", who is a mysterious and deadly assassin well known for his brutal interrogation techniques. To stay alive, Teddy some how intimated Coughlin into giving up the information by pretending to be “The Man From Toronto”.

    IMG_20240304_174501.jpg

Before Teddy new what was happening, the cabin was raided by the FBI and everyone was apprehended including Teddy. Afterwards, Teddy was convinced by the FBI to continue to pose as “The Man From Toronto” to help capture a Venezuelan Colonel. Will Teddy succeed in this mission? What challenges would he face?

    My Review And Rating.

To be honest, I enjoyed watching this movie because of Woody, AKA the actor from Zombieland movies. The movie was bearable for me because of him and Hart was at his most annoying role in this movie. I literally felt like storing him in a mason jar and throwing him into the Pacific ocean where no one will hear of him again. I can't stand him and he irritates the hell out of me.

All his humor in the movie were aggravating, not funny and annoying that I started to wonder how his co-workers tolerate him on set. I couldn't. Till now, I have no genuine reason why I hate him, maybe it's his face, his voice, and height, I can't quite place my finger on it.

This movie was a great watch for me. I enjoyed it. It was entertaining and thrilling. It is a movie a family can sit down together and watch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon or evening.

The plot was well written except that Hart’s role and dialogues were dry, humorless and senseless to me. Apart from that, the plot of this movie was good. The director did a good job but not an impressive one. The scene arrangements were okay, the setting and the location was great. The CGI and effects were however not that impressive.

The Cast performances were good and entertaining except for Kelvin Hart. Maybe if it was another actor this movie would have been exceptional. However, some of the supporting cast failed to impress and their roles fell flat. For me, Woody was the man, he was the star and the spotlight of the movie. He held the movie together.

Rating this movie, I will give it 6 out of 10 stars. It was an entertaining, funny, and relaxing movie to watch. I had a lot of laugh out loud moments and I wish Kelvin Hart had not starred in this movie.

Have you seen it before? Did you like it?

  2. The Man from Toronto, an entertaining film@ismaca876d
    [Image](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=806726)

The Man from Toronto ended up being one of the most entertaining but shallow films I've seen this year.

Directed by Patrick Hughes, it features two comedy stars in Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson who wanted to shine but couldn't find a strong script.

Hart and Harrelson have an obvious chemistry and know how to make you laugh, exploiting their characterisations of action man and confused bumbler respectively to the full.

    [Image](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=806726)

It's impossible not to smile at their constant exchanges.

Visually Hughes also gets it right, with dynamic shots that accompany the frenetic pace and there is effective body humour.

However, the initial premise promised so much more and falls down in its second act, when it should have become more delirious, it remains a generic slapstick comedy.

Moreover, some of the gags feel stale and the resolution disappoints. There was a lack of spark in the script.

Hughes was able to harness the charisma of his stars, but not to their full potential. Unfinished business with a laugh.

    [Image](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=806726)

Only for those looking for a good time without too many pretensions. If it had exploited its wackier side, it would have been memorable.

  3. The Man from Toronto (film): Stupid, but it serves a purpose@netflixr1413d

For starters we all have to step back and ask ourselves "was Dwayne Johnson not available?" Why is Kevin Hart in a movie without The Rock? I know one thing is for certain: Woody Harrelson definitely costs a lot less to hire so maybe it was a wise choice since it doesn't really matter who is in the other role, this movie was always going to be about Hart. I don't even know if they approached Dwayne Johnson for this role but I would imagine that they did.

    image.png src

This films is very similar to a lot of other Kevin Hart action films in that he is the inept accidental hero in some sort of crime something or other. He bumbles his way through things and has to be repeatedly saved by the real action hero that is Woody Harrelson. They do the usual thing like take digs on how Kevin is not a big person and how he isn't very coordinated or strong. He also frightens easy and when he does succeed at something it is a total accident.

    image.png src

Harrelson on the other hand, is a stone cold calculating killer with the utmost confidence and has an ability to get almost anything done with ease. The attempts at creating tension is formed almost entirely by Hart screwing up any situation that he is in but Harrelson cannot abandon him and eventually warms to him. This is not a spoiler, this should be evident just by the trailer.

The situations they find themselves in are absurd and unrealistic but that is to be expected from a big-budget action film that Hart seems to really enjoy making these days. I was surprised to find out that this film cost a whopping $75 million to make and I for one want to know where all that money went. Other than the airplane scene there aren't really any sequences that looked like they would have required a ton of money.

    image.png src

There are a few laughs in there and some decent action as well but the overall story is just your typical big-budget Hollywood action / comedy that honestly, I think Hart needs to start to distance himself from. He is actually a pretty talented actor and personally I would like to see him take on some more serious and challenging projects.

    Should I watch it?

If you are one of the few people that haven't yet cancelled your Netflix subscription I think you may as well since there really isn't that much to choose from on there these days. It's mindless entertainment and that's about it. It has received almost exclusively negative reviews from professional reviewers and bobbles around the 50% mark on both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. It isn't going to win any awards and contains exactly 0% innovation but if you are looking for some jokes and explosions for 90 minutes, it's reasonably worthwhile.

  4. MOVIE REVIEW: THE MAN FROM TORONTO || The Nobody That Saved The Day [ENG-ESP]@olujay1452d

The Man From Toronto is a 2022 American action film that fuses comedy into its drama. It was directed by Patrick Hughes, the same director of the popular movies, The Expendables, Hitman's Bodyguard, and Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard. The movie stars the famous Kevin Hart, a renowned comedian.

    ENGLISH

There are so many films being released every week, and yet I was stuck on which to pick. It happened to me that I found myself stuck on what film to see because the catalogue of films I was seeing at the moment was just not appealing. This is due to my list being out of order during these times when I am dabbling in the waters of responsibilities.

I have heard about letterboxd.com, but I only registered an account and never really gave it much thought. But with the dilemma I find myself in lately, I am now taking time to learn about it so I can get my list organized more often.

Anyway, in my search for something to see, I found "The Man From Toronto." The title seemed so cliché, but I did not mind at the moment. I had been seeing it under upcoming movies on Netflix, and I felt "oh well, let's see."

After seeing the first few minutes of the movie, I made a big guess that I was in for a lot of jokes (actual jokes). And along the line, I began to feel I should just skip the movie, considering that I am more of a thriller genre kind of person, and the movie seemed to not exploit that area much. But then, I stayed till the end.

But before I begin to tell you my thoughts on the movie, let me tell you about it a little; just a little, so I do not give away spoilers. And then, we fire on to why we are here.

    k75bsZMwYNu2L3iBMXq5y7xeiy1isFJsZxnMZSXuXEsxe4ee1cUkGyPif8ef4kj4QubNTwLseV2NZbTNZy6P1qxReUd94FRyJmM99siQsM52fx8YNAGPHDwg2P1ZKhzNwpTiVgCeFR8rLuRef3rJMZgnXrchSic6a.png

    𝔸𝔹𝕆𝕌𝕋 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝕄𝕆𝕍𝕀𝔼

Teddy (Kevin Hart) is an online gym coach who never seems to get anything right. He is even oftentimes named New York's biggest screw-up. But he is fortunate to marry a woman who accepts him for who he is.

He wants to do something spectacular for his wife on her birthday, as he flops his marriage many times, and he books a day spa for her and, later in the day, a cabin for the rest of the surprise. He printed the directions to the cabin he had booked, but as the printer was low on toner, the words printed were faded and the directions were not clear.

    Screenshot (78).png Source

He takes Lori (his wife) to the spa, and she goes off to secure the cabin. Because the directions are faded, he mistakes a different cabin for his own and proceeds with moving in. However, he meets a criminal who mistakes him for "the man from Toronto." "The Man from Toronto" is to use his interrogation expertise to draw out information from the man's hostage.

"The Man from Toronto" is a feared and well-known assasin in the league of criminals. But his identity is unknown. Even the FBI has nothing on him other than the 19th century American poetry he uses. He is basically a ghost.

    Screenshot (77).png Source

Now that the whole world believes that Teddy is "the man from Toronto", the FBI intends to keep it that way so they can use him to get to a Venezuelan colonel that intends to cause chaos in the US. But somewhere along the way of Teddy's mission, the real "man from Toronto" shows up and has other plans for Teddy.

Now Teddy has to save his country, save his marriage, and, amidst all the drama, protect his life.

    k75bsZMwYNu2L3iBMXq5y7xeiy1isFJsZxnMZSXuXEsxe4ee1cUkGyPif8ef4kj4QubNTwLseV2NZbTNZy6P1qxReUd94FRyJmM99siQsM52fx8YNAGPHDwg2P1ZKhzNwpTiVgCeFR8rLuRef3rJMZgnXrchSic6a.png

    𝕄𝕐 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊 & 𝕆ℙ𝕀ℕ𝕀𝕆ℕ

The story basically talks about how doing the same thing every time will always yield the same results. But really, it takes courage to call one's self back to analyse what one may be doing wrong. This was basically Teddy's situation.

He had tried so many things in his life. He did come up with good ideas, but he had a very terrible skill at relating them to the market. He had this idea of "non-contact" boxing, which is basically boxing without actual physical contact with the opponent. From his angle, it was a great idea, but to the rest of the world, it was nonsensical. He then goes through life-threatening situations in order to come to terms with himself about how he wants his life to unfold.

And on the other end of the rope is a completely different man, maybe even quite the opposite of Teddy, who always has his plans and prospects well laid out and is doing well with his job (of an assasin). But on the contrary to Teddy, who has his dream and is driven to achieve it, he is quite a coward for chasing his dream, which is quite far from his criminal job.

What we have now is a story about two men from different worlds and with opposing personalities coming together to achieve a somewhat common goal: subdue the common enemy.

    image.png

In all honesty, I did not put my hopes too high for this movie because the title kind of gave me a feeling that I would not get the kind of action that may have interested me, and that was the case. I saw a type of action that was specifically tailored to fashion the comedy that is the actual point of the story.

To deliver to you a review with justice served, we'll need to walk through some specific areas:

    sᴛᴏʀʏʟɪɴᴇ

    Like I said before;

I made a big guess that I was in for a lot of jokes (actual jokes).

I just knew that, with an actor (or personality) like Kevin Hart, the story was going to take a very comedic approach. Yes, it was clearly categorized as "comedy action," but the story followed a more predictable pattern.

The whole story was clearly centered around the comedy that was intended. So every other element included was bent and twisted to follow a pattern to support it.

To my surprise, I had so many laughs throughout the scene. There were so many enjoyable parts that always resulted in me giving off cringe-worthy laughs. But then, there was one issue. Every scene I laughed at had to do with something Kevin said.

    Screenshot (80).png Source

And I consider it an issue with the film because, if you yank Kevin from the whole film, as an actor, and replace him with someone that cannot match his personality, what we'd have is a total catastrophe.

A catastrophe in the sense that there were so many things that just did not add up. For example, how in the world can the FBI consider a criminal a ghost and then know his favourite poetry that he recites to his victims? Let's not drag this, or else it'll look like the movie should not be appreciated.

You must get my point now, dear reader. The storyline is really not something I would consider giving an award to the movie for. And for the comedy, I would rather give Kevin the award, not the film.

    ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ

The cinematography of a film is the aspect responsible for the motion picture that helps to tell the story. This includes quite a vast spectrum of techniques.

Like many films now, this film shows how much of an improvement there has been over the years in the film industry in the area of motion pictures.

For a movie that does not have much of a story to tell, the least you could do is to give it the best look it can get. And I really do appreciate what the world has done in this aspect.

    ᴀᴄᴛɪɴɢ

The art of film performance is very crucial. An actor or actress keen on their performance is very likely to sell their character to the audience. The actor or actress needs to be able to deliver the emotions the audience has to feel from the story being told.

    Screenshot (79).png Source

I usually have a few actors that I would like to talk about when I see a film. But in this case, I am only here to commend Kevin Hart. Without his intelligent use of his talent, the entire movie may have just been a flop.

    k75bsZMwYNu2L3iBMXq5y7xeiy1isFJsZxnMZSXuXEsxe4ee1cUkGyPif8ef4kj4QubNTwLseV2NZbTNZy6P1qxReUd94FRyJmM99siQsM52fx8YNAGPHDwg2P1ZKhzNwpTiVgCeFR8rLuRef3rJMZgnXrchSic6a.png

    𝕄𝕐 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...

I did not expect much and I did not get much. But that is not to say the movie is not an enjoyable one. Rather, I would classify it as a movie you may just want to see to pass time and have a laugh while at it.

Surely, I would like to see more movies like this, at least once a while. They can really help one to unwind and relax after a long day.

    I would give the series a 𝟞/𝟙𝟘.

    sᴛᴏʀʏʟɪɴᴇ

    Como he dicho antes;

    k75bsZMwYNu2L3iBMXq5y7xeiy1isFJsZxnMZSXuXEsxe4ee1cUkGyPif8ef4kj4QubNTwLseV2NZbTNZy6P1qxReUd94FRyJmM99siQsM52fx8YNAGPHDwg2P1ZKhzNwpTiVgCeFR8rLuRef3rJMZgnXrchSic6a.png

    𝕄𝕐 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...

No esperaba mucho y no obtuve mucho.

Hello friends, welcome to my blog, today I am going to tell you about a movie that I saw this past weekend, it is an action comedy directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, from the Netflix streaming network. The film is about a man unsuccessful in sales and running his business who, by mistaken address, is involved in a case of mistaken identity. A group of criminals think that Teddy (Kevin), is a dangerous assassin known as "The Man from Toronto" (Woody), who is hired to get the code for a bomb.

The tape from the first moment takes us on a journey of hilarious situations where Teddy (Kevin) must do everything to survive his role as a murderer, while helping the authorities to capture Randy (Woody). Randy for his part, discovers Kevin and both must work together to achieve each of his goals. In my opinion the film has good moments, especially the chemistry that we see on the screen of Kevin and Woody, but despite this the roles of the characters are not solid and are predictable. The action scenes are good and the pace of the movie keeps you focused on the events.

The cast of actors like: Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fode, Jencarlos Canela and Ellen Barkin, are extraordinary, but they can't remove that feeling that something is missing to make this film something memorable. Ellen (The Handler), is in charge of looking for the contracts for the murders of Randy (Woody), who does not convince with her performance, despite being an actress with great successes in another era, she shows overacting and stiff. The film, despite having moments of laughter, does not have great dialogues that contribute something more to the predictable and at times boring plot.

I'm a fan of Woody, I've seen almost all his movies and it's because of him I saw this one, his performance doesn't disappoint, but no matter how good an actor you are, when the script is bad and there are no good scenes, there's no way to make it a great movie. Despite the efforts of Woody and Kevin himself to make the film fill, the expectations do not achieve it, it is not a memorable film that you would repeat to see, it is one of those films that you see only once and then you do not remember it. It is unfortunate because it had a director with successes in this genre of comedy and action, as well as a great group of actors.

This teaches us that having a great cast of actors, an already proven formula (comedy/action), is not a guarantee of success, if you don't have a script that supports it with excellent dialogues, real, believable action scenes and creative situations that keep you glued to the chair hoping to see more. The film can be seen from the point of view that you have nothing better to do and that you want to distract yourself for a while, you will see some good scenes and moments that will make you smile, but as the film progresses you will realize how predictable it is. Only under this premise can it be seen, it is not memorable and I doubt very much that you will see it again, it is one of those types of movies that are only seen once in a lifetime.

Dear friends and lovers of movies and TV series. Again I am here to share with you my review about one of the new movies that have been released on Netflix, it is a comedy movie where we will see Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson who got together to make The Man From Toronto a comedy and action movie. This movie has a good score because the main actors are two great actors who have acted before in movies that have left very good impressions and that also fascinate me a lot.

The Man From Toronto

    [SOURCE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urqy8DrcGBs&ab_channel=Netflix)

    Trama / Plot

    ------

The Man From Toronto begins with Woody Harrelson playing the role of the man from Toronto, a skilled assassin who works for an agency of professional torturers in order to extract valuable information from targets, Woody is one of the best assassins the agency has as he never fails in his jobs. As he tortures a target, he tells a heartbreaking story from his childhood of watching a bear eat his grandfather alive.

He then does a scene change to show Teddy Nilson a second rate loser who tries to excel in a gym by trying to sell his boss a new style of fighting called Non-Contact Boxing, which as Teddy says "it's fun and you don't hurt anyone ". In addition, Teddy promotes his fighting style on his YouTube channel where he gets almost no exposure.

The movie unfolds when the man from Toronto is given a new job, he has to extract information from a target which are some activation codes to give it to a Venezuelan military to blow up a Venezuelan embassy in Washington. At the same time Teddy is planning a birthday trip for his wife, which as in previous years have gone very wrong, this time is redemption for Teddy, so he gets a reservation at a cabin and for his wife a full day spa.

    image.png SOURCE

So Teddy leaves his wife at the spa and goes to the cabin to prepare everything, but because he is cheap and did not buy enough printer ink, he gets confused with the address of the cabin and instead of going to his reservation he goes to the cabin where they were waiting for the Toronto man, and while Teddy understands what is going on, he pretends that he will hurt the target to avoid being killed, but at that moment the FBI arrives and breaks into the house.

And everything was fine until then since they saved Teddy's life, but the twist in the movie is that now Teddy has to impersonate the Toronto man since when he arrived at the cabin by accident they took a picture of him to identify him, since no one had ever identified the Toronto man. So to finish the job and arrest those responsible, which is the Venezuelan General Marin and his wife, the FBI proposes to Teddy to continue in the role of the Toronto man to finish the case, and although at first he does not want to, he ends up agreeing because the FBI promises him that his debts with the government and the bank will be settled.

So now Teddy meets with the wife of General Marin to go to Puerto Rico where the other target is to get the information, but on the way the real man from Toronto appears and kills Marin's men and helps Teddy in his mission to get the missing data, which was the thumb of one of the creators of the bomb, so after being cut off they travel back to Washington where they will meet with Marin and receive payment.

    image.png SOURCE

But in the course of this return trip, they meet the Miami man, another agency hit man who was sent to complete the job and eliminate the Toronto man and Teddy. But Marin's plans are thwarted when the FBI acts just before the bomb is set off and Marin is caught, then Teddy is told he can go home.

But again the movie takes a turn as the problems to teddy begin, first his wife finds out he is a total failure as he has lied to her about his job and the agency sends every assassin in the world that is active to kill teddy and the Toronto man, so teddy finally stops being a loser and with the help of the Toronto man he takes on all the assassins and ends up winning back his wife.

The movie ends with Teddy succeeding in his non-contact boxing classes, and because he wrecked the Toronto man's car he now has to pay him a debt, and the Toronto man stopped being a murderer and opened a restaurant which is what he always wanted.

    Mi Opinión / My Opinion

I think this movie achieved its goal, it is a very well balanced comedy movie that manages to make you laugh from the beginning to the end. I honestly didn't feel bored at any point. Kevin Hart does very well in his role as a professional loser that everything goes wrong, and we have seen him in other movies playing the same role and he doesn't get boring, he always has something new to offer.

    image.png SOURCE

The movie has many moments full of laughter, for example, when he arrives at the cabin and is greeted by one of Marin's accomplices, Teddy goes to the bathroom and the man checks a box Teddy had and sees lubricant and vibrators, which is funny because Marin's accomplice thinks he uses them in his torture methods.

Another scene that caused me a lot of laughter was when Teddy has to go to Puerto Rico and the FBI leaves him an agent named Santoro who is the dream man of any woman, and Teddy prefers another agent uglier and more ordinary.

And one last funny scene is when Teddy is in Puerto Rico and tries to torture the targets to get the information, but because he is disgusted by blood, he vomits on everyone.

The Man From Toronto is an amazing movie that will get a lot of laughs out of you, it also has great actors such as Kevin H and Woody H who do not disappoint in their performance, and finally it has an incredible plot that makes you stay seated in your chair.

The Man From Toronto es una película asombrosa que te sacara muchas risas, además tiene actores de peso como son Kevin H y Woody H que no decepcionan en su actuación, y por último tiene una trama increíble que te hace quedarte sentado a la silla.

I have to give credit to this movie, since recently the movies that they release on Netflix do not achieve the desired goal, since the story deviates a lot or is just very bad, but this movie successfully achieved the goal. And while it doesn't have an amazing score from major movie critics, it is a movie you have to see for yourself to be impressed.

Finally, I would like to mention the amount of accumulated hours that this movie has, which until 3 days ago was still the worldwide trend with more than 50 million hours of views, well above other great movies like Spiderhead (that @ilazramusicle did an amazing review no spoilers, read it :D).

Mon avis : Un grand BOF !

    A bientôt, restez prudents,

    Florence
