¡Hola amigos! A veces uno quiere ver algo a ciegas, sin saber con qué se va a encontrar, unas veces sale bien y otras no. Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi reseña acerca de una película medio pelo que vi el fin de semana llamada Turn Me On.
Hello friends! Sometimes you want to see something blindly, not knowing what you're going to find, sometimes it turns out well and sometimes it doesn't. Today I'm dropping by to bring you my review of a half-baked movie I saw over the weekend called Turn Me On.
Trama - Plot
La película nos muestra un mundo distópico donde las personas consumen todos los días una vitamina que les quita las emociones y así puedan vivir una vida más plena, libre de toda carga negativa. Acá entra una de las protagonistas, Joy, una joven a la que le aconsejan que deje de tomar la pastilla por un día para realizar un tratamiento médico. Ella lo hace con cierta reticencia, pero al estar un día libre de la vitamina empieza a experimentar emociones que no comprende, pero que la hacen sentir bien y le aconseja a su pareja y a sus amigos que hagan lo mismo. Así empieza un camino de descubrimiento de las verdaderas emociones humanas que nos hacen ser quienes somos en realidad.
The film shows us a dystopian world where people take a vitamin every day that takes away their emotions so they can live a fuller life, free of any negative charge. Here enters one of the protagonists, Joy, a young woman who is advised to stop taking the pill for a day to undergo medical treatment. She does so with some reluctance, but after a day off the vitamin she begins to experience emotions that she does not understand, but that make her feel good and she advises her partner and her friends to do the same. Thus begins a journey of discovery of the true human emotions that make us who we really are.
Reseña - Review
Explicado así suena bonito y algo interesante de ver, el problema es que se quedó a medias. Pienso que la trama era atractiva y tenía un punto interesante, pero al final sentí que redujeron toda la problemática y la profundidad que esperaba a algo más sexual. Ya que lo que más estaban enganchados en experimentar es la parte sexual y el placer en este sentido.
Explained like that it sounds nice and somewhat interesting to watch, the problem is that it was half-baked. I think the plot was engaging and had an interesting point, but in the end I felt they reduced all the problematic and depth I was hoping for to something more sexual. Since what they were most hooked on experiencing is the sexual part and the pleasure in this sense.
Aparte, la historia se centra en unos pocos personajes y al final tampoco se explica mucho de nada. No sabemos nada de esta organización que se hace llamar "Nuestros amigos" ni el porqué de que hayan empezado a fabricar esta pastilla, no se entiende el verdadero fin de todo esto. Ya que en un momento es un poco confuso porque todo es una prueba para llegar a ver si son capaces de soportar la verdad y la manera de ser real de los seres humanos, con sus guerras y toda la gama de emociones que experimentamos, tanto buenas como malas. Pero solo unos pocos son dignos de este privilegio.
Besides, the story focuses on a few characters and in the end not much of anything is explained. We do not know anything about this organization that calls itself “Our friends” or why they have started to manufacture this pill, we do not understand the real purpose of all this. Since at one point it is a bit confusing because everything is a test to get to see if they are able to withstand the truth and the real way of being human beings, with their wars and the whole range of emotions we experience, both good and bad. But only a few are worthy of this privilege.
No me quedó muy claro el sentido de la película, su profundidad también se redujo a una cuestión romántica que me pareció muy linda, ya saben lo mucho que me gusta el romance, pero que no pegaba tanto con el sentido que debería haber seguido. Había temas interesantes que quedaron en el tintero y me pareció un poco triste, por ejemplo, cómo te emparejan y te daban a criar bebés como si fueran el juego de Los sims 1 que te llamaban por teléfono preguntándote si querías adoptar un bebé y te lo traían, vivir todo esto sin sentir ningún tipo de emoción, ni siquiera alegría. Siento que la película hubiera podido dar más.
I was not very clear about the sense of the film, its depth was also reduced to a romantic issue that I thought was very cute, you know how much I like romance, but that did not fit so much with the sense that should have followed. There were interesting themes that were left out and I found it a bit sad, for example, how they pair you up and give you to raise babies as if they were the sims 1 game that called you on the phone asking you if you wanted to adopt a baby and they brought it to you, living all this without feeling any kind of emotion, not even joy. I feel like the movie could have given more.
La verdad es que es una pena que no le dieran un buen giro a la trama y la redujeran tanto a la nada misma. Me dejó un mal sabor de boca y eso que yo siempre saco algo bueno de todo lo que veo. Pero hasta me sentí desconectada de lo que veía. Me llevé una desilusión porque sentí que tenía buena pinta, al final no cumplió mis expectativas, pero por ahí a los que me están leyendo les guste.
The truth is that it's a shame that they didn't give a good twist to the plot and reduced it so much to nothingness itself. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I always get something good out of everything I watch. But I even felt disconnected from what I was seeing. I was disappointed because I felt it looked good, in the end it didn't meet my expectations, but maybe those who are reading it will like it.
