The latest movies I’ve seen across different genres have featured excellent plots and messages, and above all, I’ve continued to enjoy the fine work of these directors. Many of them—without much publicity and shortly after their release—end up surprising me with what they convey throughout the film. That’s why Voice Messages for Isabelle was released—a film that isn’t really my style, since it’s a romantic comedy. However, as the minutes go by, it reveals a much more meaningful story that touches on themes of grief, second chances, and how technology today is the perfect way to connect with anyone in the world.

Las últimas películas que he visto de distinto género han contado con una excelente trama, mensaje y sobre todo seguir disfrutando de un buen trabajo de dichos directores, donde muchas de ellas sin tanta publicidad y con poco tiempo de haberse estrenado terminan sorprendiendo por lo que transmiten durante la película. Por eso se estrenó Mensajes de voz para Isabelle, la cual es una producción que no va mucho con mi estilo, ya que es una comedia romántica, sin embargo, a medida que pasan los minutos nos muestra una historia mucho más valiosa tocando temas sobre el duelo, las segundas oportunidades y como la tecnología hoy en día es perfecta para conectar con cualquier persona en el mundo.

The story invites us to follow the life of a young woman who keeps sending voice messages to her deceased sister’s old phone number—something that could happen to anyone, and even more so when it comes to siblings, precisely because of the trust that exists between them. However, to add a bit more excitement and take the story in a different direction, that number actually belongs to a stranger who listens to every message. This makes us wonder: Will he realize it? Will there be a connection? And many other questions that turn the whole thing into an adventure filled with drama, humor, and a touch of romance.

Each scene is very well crafted; the film doesn’t aim to exaggerate but rather to show that sometimes the little things are perfect for creating something unique. Here, too, each piece of music featured throughout the film plays an important role in heightening the emotion. Furthermore, there are parts where what’s going to happen is very predictable—something you see in every romantic movie—but even so, the story moves forward with greater momentum, allowing viewers to really relate to it.

La historia nos lleva a disfrutar de la vida de una joven que sigue enviando mensajes de voz al antiguo número de teléfono de su hermana fallecida, siendo algo que le puede ocurrir a cualquiera persona y más aún cuando se trata de hermanos, por el mismo hecho de existir esa confianza. Sin embargo, para darle un poco más emoción y qué la historia tome otro camino es que ese número le pertenece a un desconocido y escucha cada mensaje y aquí nos preguntamos ¿Se podrá dar cuenta?, ¿Habrá una relación? Y muchas otras cosas para que sea toda una aventura cargada de drama, humor y a la vez más toque de amor.

Cada una de las escenas están muy bien trabajas, donde no busca exagerar, sino más bien lograr demostrar que a veces las pequeñas cosas son perfecta para crear algo único y aquí también cada una de las músicas que van colocando a lo largo de la película cumple un papel importante, para darle más emoción. Además, habrá parte donde es muy predecible lo que pasará algo que en toda película romántica se puede notar, aun así la historia avanza con más fuerza logrando que uno como espectador puede llegar a sentirse identificado.

Another thing that’s really great—and they truly succeeded in achieving—is the casting of the leads, since you can really feel the strong bond and chemistry between them. Everything unfolds naturally, without rushing, allowing each of them to express their insecurities—something that happens at the beginning of every relationship—so they can take the next step.

I really liked the result of this movie. Even though it’s not my usual style, it’s a simple story worth watching, because beyond the romance, it touches on something very human: the difficulty of letting go of those who are no longer with us and the fear of opening your heart again. So, friends, if you’re looking for a lighthearted, emotional movie with characters to admire, this one’s for you.

Otras de las cosas que es muy buena y de verdad que lograron con el objetivo son los protagonistas que usaron, ya que se puede notar esa buena relación y química que existe, puesto que todo va avanzando de forma natural, sin prisas y así cada uno puede llegar a expresar sus inseguridades, algo qué pasa en todo inicio de relación para así poder dar el siguiente paso.

Me gusto mucho el resultado de esta película, a pesar de que no es mi estilo es una historia sencilla que vale la pena verla, ya que más allá del romance, habla de algo muy humano: la dificultad de dejar ir a quienes ya no están y el miedo a volver a abrir el corazón. Por eso amigos si buscas una película ligera, emotiva y con personajes de admirar esta será para ti.

Voicemails for Isabelle, directed by Leah McKendrick, is a romance, drama, and comedy film that I was waiting for just to see the lead actors. Especially Nick Robinson, who stars in this story alongside Zoey Deutch. I didn't really know much about this story until the promos and finally the trailer started coming out. I know it's a Netflix adaptation of a book, which I haven't read, but it seems like it could be a very beautiful read. I would love to tell you about my experience watching this movie 📞❤️‍🩹.

The story begins by telling us about the lives of two sisters: Jill and Isabelle. Both are very close and come from a family full of love and support. Since childhood, the two have been inseparable; nothing makes them feel down, except for the fact that Isabelle, the youngest, is facing an illness that is gradually deteriorating her health. Although this fulfills her, and even though months have passed, she deeply feels the absence of her only sister. In a way, she feels she must achieve that dream so that her sister, wherever she may be, can feel proud of her. However, daily life is very stressful between a boss who constantly kills her motivation and a coworker who wanted something with her, but since she rejected him, now dedicates himself to sabotaging everything she does.

I am not a big fan of Netflix adaptations, and by this I don't mean that all of them are bad, but I think the book probably could have been a more beautiful experience than watching the movie. I liked Zoey's performance and also Nick's; both are very good actors, although in this film, unlike other people, I didn't feel that strong chemistry required for a situation like the one that takes place in the story. It might just be that these types of movies are no longer my style. Even so, I really enjoyed the scenes; there were many tender ones, others a bit slow, but I think that despite everything, it was a good movie, at least to watch once over a weekend.

I find the theme of the movie interesting—how things unfold—and even though Wes doesn't have bad intentions, I do feel he should have told Jill much earlier that the number was already taken. Because Jill shared very personal things that later become a problem for both of them, especially when they start falling in love. The movie has very good scenes and shows happiness within a situation that can cause a lot of pain, such as the loss of a family member. Additionally, another positive aspect is that it has a great soundtrack; I loved that, especially because in these types of movies, songs also play an important part in the moments experienced on screen.

I recommend it to those who were waiting for the adaptation and also to those who enjoy the work of both actors. I love being able to see Nick Robinson in a movie again; I feel he has a lot of potential, but stories don't always fit every actor. Hola amigos cinéfilos, me encanta poder compartir de nuevo con ustedes y me emociona hablar de la película que les voy a reseñar. Voicemails for Isabelle dirigida por Leah Mckendrick, una película de romance, drama y comedia que estuve esperando solo para ver a los protagonistas. En especial a Nick Robinson quien es el protagonista de esta historia junto a Zoey Deutch. Realmente no sabía mucho sobre esta historia hasta que comenzaron a salir las promociones y finalmente el tráiler, se que es una adaptación de Netflix sobre un libro, que no he leído pero que me parece que puede ser bastante bonito de leer. Me gustaría contarles mi experiencia viendo esta película 📞❤️‍🩹.

La historia comienza contándonos la vida de dos hermanas: Jill e Isabelle. Ambas muy unidas y provenientes de una familia llena de amor y de apoyo. Desde niñas ambas han sido inseparables, no hay nada que las haga sentir mal, excepto por el hecho de que Isabelle la más pequeña, se encuentra enfrentando una enfermedad que la va deteriorando poco a poco. Sin embargo, su familia se dedica a que tenga una vida lo más normal posible, y más que todo, su hermana Jill siempre busca la manera de que ambas aunque están en situaciones diferentes de sus vidas, puedan disfrutar de cada etapa de crecimiento juntas. El problema llega cuando Isabelle ya siendo una adolescente no resiste la enfermedad y esto es un golpe duro para la familia, pero en especial para Jill.

La película tiene una escenografía espectacular grabada desde San Francisco en los Estados Unidos, donde Jill pasa la mayor parte del tiempo dedicándose a ser estudiante de cocina, pero su sueño va más ligado con la repostería. Aunque esto le llena, aún a pesar de que han pasado meses, siente mucho la ausencia de su única hermana. De alguna manera siente que debe cumplir con ese sueño para que su hermana desde donde esté, pueda sentirse orgullosa de ella. Sin embargo, el día a día es muy estresante entre un jefe que siempre le baja la motivación y un compañero de trabajo que quería algo con ella pero como lo rechazo ahora se dedica a boicotear cada cosa que hace.

En medio de todo esto, Jill nunca ha olvidado a su hermana y su manera de estar cerca de ella es enviándole mensajes a su antiguo número de teléfono. Pero este número ya tiene dueño, Wes detrás de su mundo empresarial y perfecto descubre que hay alguien que envía mensajes y aunque desde el inicio intenta decirle que ya ese número es de otra persona, se da cuenta que sería muy desalentador hablarle a Jill y contarle. Esto crea una especie de relación entre ambos, donde no se conocen pero mantienen una comunicación no respondida entre mensajes de voz. Y esto es algo que va transcurriendo a lo largo de la película, los mensajes que envía Jill son casi a diario y es su manera de drenar el sentimiento de tristeza y soledad al no tener a su hermana.

No soy muy fan de las adaptaciones de Netflix y con esto no quiero decir que todas sean malas, pero creo que probablemente el libro pudo haber sido una experiencia más bonita que ver la película. Me gusto la actuación de Zoey y también la de Nick, ambos son muy buenos actores aunque en esta película no sentí como otras personas esa química tan fuerte para una situación como la que se da en la historia. Puede que tal vez sea porque ya este tipo de películas no sean de mi estilo. Aún así disfrute mucho las escenas, hubieron muchas tiernas, otras un poco lentas, pero creo que a pesar de todo fue una buena película al menos para verla una vez en un fin de semana.

El tema de la película me resulta interesante, cómo se van dando las cosas y aunque Wes no tiene malas intenciones si siento que debió decirle a Jill mucho antes que ese número ya estaba ocupado. Porque hubieron cosas muy personales que contaba Jill y que luego se vuelven un problema para ambos, sobre todo cuando ya están sintiendo amor entre ellos. La película tiene escenas muy buenas y muestran la felicidad dentro de una situación que puede causar mucho dolor como lo es la pérdida de un familiar. Además, también algo positivo es que tiene un buen soundtrack, eso me encantó sobre todo porque en este tipo de películas, las canciones también forman parte importante de los momentos que se viven en la pantalla.

La recomiendo para aquellos que estuvieron esperando la adaptación y también para quienes disfrutan del trabajo de ambos actores. Me encanta poder ver de nuevo a Nick Robinson en una película, siento que él tiene mucho potencial pero no siempre las historias calzan en cualquier actor. Pero la química aunque no estuvo tan fuerte como esperaba, aún así hubieron momentos tiernos y también que me hicieron reír, tienen escenas que hacen que te quedes viéndola hasta el final solamente para ver cómo termina. Y si se lo preguntan, termina bastante bien. Me gusto el final y la manera en que cerraron una historia de duelo en un encuentro entre dos personas que al final se comprendían y se amaban a pesar de sus propios conflictos y errores. Espero que la vean y me cuenten qué les pareció. ☺️
