El mes de enero es uno de los más esperados porque se han venido estrenando cosas que llevábamos tiempo esperando y porque queda una que otra cosa por ahí por estrenar que también está creando mucha expectativa. En esta oportunidad vamos a hablar del inicio de la segunda temporada de Euphoria, el formato acá es diferente porque sacan un capitulo semanal por lo que solo hablaremos del primero y así esperar hasta el fin de la temporada y hacer la reseña completa.

January is one of the most awaited months of the year because of the premieres that we have been waiting for a long time and because there is one or two other things still to be released that are also creating a lot of expectation. This time we are going to talk about the beginning of the second season of Euphoria, the format here is different because they release a weekly chapter so we will only talk about the first one and then we will wait until the end of the season and do the complete review.

Esta serie está de vuelta después de una larga espera, creo que son un poco más de 2 años, para continuar contándonos las historias de un grupo de adolescentes con ciertos problemas, bastantes diría yo. Lo primero que quiero dejar claro es que Euphoria NO ES LA TIPICA SERIE DE ADOLESCENTES que todo el mundo piensa que es, la verdad es que es mucho más profunda y seria y por tal no es mala idea que aquellos que aún no la ven, se decidan y lo hagan. Pero a lo que vinimos, el primer capítulo y lo que podemos esperar del resto de temporada:

This series is back after a long wait, I think it's a little more than 2 years, to continue telling us the stories of a group of teenagers with certain problems, quite a few I would say. The first thing I want to make clear is that Euphoria is NOT THE TYPICAL TEEN SERIES that everyone thinks it is, the truth is that it is much deeper and serious and therefore it is not a bad idea for those who have not seen it yet, to decide to do so. Cuando comenzamos a ver este primer episodio inmediatamente entendemos que esta segunda temporada será mucho más oscura y problemática que la anterior y en parte porque ya conocemos el contexto de casi todos los personajes que la conforman; de hecho acá veremos la historia de uno de ellos que faltaba por esa información y que todo apunta que será una de las piezas claves de la historia.

When we start watching this first episode we immediately understand that this second season will be much darker and problematic than the previous one and partly because we already know the context of almost all the characters that make it up; in fact here we will see the story of one of them that was missing that information and that everything points to be one of the key pieces of the story.

Antes de continuar vamos a resumir un poco de que trata Euphoria para aquellos que no la han visto: básicamente y como ya dije es una serie que toca temas y problemas que rodean a los adolescentes de la generación Z, ojo, son cosas muy comunes pero aquí veremos como esas cosas los afectan a ellos en especifico. De que tipo de problemas hablamos? - pues de enfermedades mentales como la depresión y la ansiedad, la promiscuidad, adicción a las drogas, alcoholismo, problemas con la identidad sexual (personas homosexuales y transgéneros), pedofilia, problemas familiares, etc. Como ven una amplia lista de temas que son muy delicados de tratar y que acá lo hacen de la mejor manera posible.

Before we continue, let's summarize what Euphoria is about for those who haven't seen it: basically and as I said it is a series that touches on issues and problems that surround the teenagers of generation Z, of course, they are very common things but here we will see how these things affect them specifically. What kind of problems are we talking about? - Well, mental illnesses like depression and anxiety, promiscuity, drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual identity problems (homosexual and transgender people), pedophilia, family problems, etc. As you can see, this is a long list of topics that are very delicate to deal with and here they do it in the best possible way.

Habiendo aclarado un poco el panorama, seguimos. Muchas veces viendo el inicio de una temporada podemos, más o menos, deducir como será lo que nos espera con el resto de episodios y después de haberlo visto hay un par de cosas de las cuales estoy seguro no faltarán. Una de ella es la intensidad dramática, este capitulo lo llevaron casi por todo ese camino, ese dramatismo que es intrínseco de cada personaje lo seguimos viendo y será pilar en esta segunda temporada.

Having clarified the picture a bit, let's continue. Many times watching the beginning of a season we can, more or less, deduce what the rest of the episodes will be like and after having seen it there are a couple of things that I am sure will not be missing. One of them is the dramatic intensity, this episode took it almost all that way, that drama that is intrinsic to each character we continue to see and will be a pillar in this second season.

Lo segundo es la manera como cuentan las historias. Euphoria tiene una magia que radica en la forma en la cual vamos conociendo los hechos que rodean la trama, es un guion que está tan bien escrito que sinceramente te atrapa por lo real y genuino que puede llegar a ser y eso es algo que notorio en este primer episodio, la forma en la que nos presentan a este "nuevo" personaje realmente es un 10/10.

The second thing is the way the stories are told. Euphoria has a magic that lies in the way in which we get to know the facts surrounding the plot, it is a script that is so well written that honestly catches you by how real and genuine it can be and that is something that is noticeable in this first episode, the way in which we are introduced to this "new" character really is a 10/10.

Y lo tercero pero no menos importante es la cinematografía. Creo y sin miedo a exagerar ni a equivocarme que este punto es el de los más fuertes de esta serie. La sutileza con la que están grabadas las escenas, los colores, la misma fotografía, los planos, la secuencias y transiciones hacen que audiovisualmente estemos ante un producto de mucha calidad, como pocos en la industria. Tanto es así que se filtró que esta serie fue grabada con un 35mm KODAK que estaba fuera de circulación y lo trajeron de vuelta solo para este proyecto, de ahí las magnificas tomas e iluminación que apreciamos. Les pongo par de ejemplos de lo que les hablo:

And third but not least is the cinematography. I believe, without fear of exaggeration or being wrong, that this is one of the strongest points of this series. The subtlety with which the scenes are recorded, the colors, the photography itself, the shots, the sequences and transitions make this a high quality product, like few others in the industry. So much so that it was leaked that this series was recorded with a 35mm KODAK that was out of circulation and brought back just for this project, hence the magnificent shots and lighting that we appreciate. En fin, después de haber visto este primer episodio me queda claro que la línea que veníamos viendo en la temporada anterior se mantiene y creo que se pudiera encrudecer un poco. Todos esos problemas que se nos presentaron al comienzo de las historias siguen intactos y sin soluciones aparentes por lo que esta segunda parte se va a encargar de afincarlos más para que el espectador entienda cuan graves son.

Anyway, after having seen this first episode it is clear to me that the line we were seeing in the previous season is maintained and I think it could be a little bit more difficult. All those problems that were presented to us at the beginning of the stories are still intact and without apparent solutions, so this second part is going to be in charge of making them more entrenched so that the viewer understands how serious they are.

Una gran serie la cual tendremos que esperar pacientemente cada domingo para ver un pedazo más y entender ese rompecabezas de emociones por el que están pasando todos estos jóvenes. Al final de la temporada nos volveremos a encontrar para ver si todo lo dicho acá se cumplió o si por el contrario la trama tuvo un giro drástico y nos sorprendió a todos. Por cierto, está disponible por HBO.

A great series which we will have to wait patiently every Sunday to see one more piece and understand the puzzle of emotions that all these young people are going through. At the end of the season we will meet again to see if everything said here was fulfilled or if on the contrary the plot had a drastic turn and surprised us all. By the way, it is available on HBO.
