If you like to know history, but you're not the type to sit down and read a book, the best way to do it is through movies. Biographical films show important facts about events that marked history, among them is the film Tetris which tells you about the origin and all the obstacles that the creator and distributor of this popular game had to overcome.

If you were born after the 80s at some point in your life, you had to come across the game Tetris which is a puzzle that consists of arranging cubes in a set time. If you manage to arrange all the cubes so that they fit, the lines are cleared, and you continue playing without running out of lives.

This is one of the best-selling video games that went around the world. It could be adapted for computers and laptops. When I decided to watch this film, I did not imagine everything that its development, distribution, and how government policies influenced it.

Las películas biográficas muestran datos importantes de eventos que marcaron la historia, entre ellas está la película Tetris que te narra el origen y todos los obstáculos que tuvieron que pasar el creador y el distribuidor de este juego tan popular.

Si naciste después de la década de los 80 en algún momento de tu vida tuviste que toparse con el juego de Tetris qué trata de un rompecabezas que consiste en ordenar cubos en un tiempo determinado si logras ordenar todos los cubos de forma que encajen se borran las líneas y sigues jugando sin que se te acabe la vida.

Este es uno de videojuegos más vendidos y que le dieron la vuelta al mundo. De los que se pudieron realizar adaptaciones para computadoras y portátiles. Cuando me decidí por ver esta película, no me imaginaba todo lo que había sido su desarrollo, distribución y cómo influyeron las políticas de un gobierno.

The name of this game is a combination of 2 words that the creator came up with, Tetris means cubes and tennis, since the creator's children were fans of tennis games, he wanted to unite his children's passion for tennis with his creation of cubes, and that's what originated the name Tetris.

The movie shows how the game's creator was a man who worked in programming full-time and during his free hours at night, he played around with programming languages creating this little game that he shared among his coworkers and that was liked so much that it spread throughout the entire Soviet Union as a distraction for adults.

Its creator never imagined that what he had created was an idea worth billions of dollars. A foreign entrepreneur learned about the potential of this game and decided to buy the rights from the Soviet Union, who sold them, and then throughout the movie, it shows how it was manipulated and changed without receiving any benefit for its original creator.

The movie begins at a technology trade show, where one of the exhibitors saw how people were playing with Tetris and decided to acquire the rights to the game and be its distributor worldwide. This person is the protagonist of the movie Henk Rogers, an American married to a Japanese woman, living in Japan, and also has knowledge of programming languages.

The whole movie is based on the difficulties that this entrepreneur Henk Rogers had to obtain the original rights of the game and for its creator and the distributing company to have fair profits. He had to overcome many obstacles that made him risk his heritage and strained his family relationship. In the beginning, the partners he found wanted to deceive him, so he had to go several times to the Soviet Union, the United States, and Japan to secure a real contract.

El nombre de este juego es la combinación de 2 palabras que se le ocurrió a su creador, Tetris significa cubos y tenis, ya que los hijos del creador eran aficionados a los juegos de tenis entonces él quiso unir la pasión de sus hijos por el tenis con su creación de cubos y es lo que originó el nombre de Tetris.

En la película muestran cómo el creador del juego era un hombre que se dedicaba a la programación como trabajo de tiempo completo y durante sus horas libres en la noche se dedicaba a jugar con los lenguajes de programación creando este pequeño juego que fue compartiendo entre sus compañeros de trabajo y que gustó tanto que se fue esparciendo por toda la Unión Soviética como una distracción para adultos.

Su creador nunca imaginó que lo que había creado era una idea que valía miles de millones de dólares lo cierto es que un empresario extranjero se enteró del potencial de este juego y decidió comprarle los derechos a la Unión Soviética que se los vendieron y después muestran durante toda la película como fue manipulado y cambiado sin recibir ningún tipo de beneficio para su creador original.

La película inicia en una exposición empresarial de tecnología allí uno de los exponentes vio cómo las personas jugaban con Tetris y decidió conseguir los derechos de este juego y ser su distribuidor en todo el mundo esta persona es el protagonista de la película Henk Rogers un norteamericano casado con una japonesa, vivían en Japón y también tenía conocimientos de lenguaje en programación.

Toda la película se basa en las dificultades que tuvo este empresario Henk Rogers para conseguir los derechos originales del juego y que su creador como la empresa distribuidora tuvieran ganancias de forma equitativa. Tuvo que superar muchos obstáculos que lo hicieron arriesgar su patrimonio y someter en tensión su relación familiar, ya que los socios qué se conseguían al principio quisieron engañarlo por lo que él mismo tuvo que acudir en varias oportunidades a la Unión Soviética a los Estados Unidos y a Japón a consolidar un contrato real.

Many elements of this movie captivated me, starting with the historical context. It shows what life was like in communism, all the repression that existed for community members, where an ordinary citizen could not profit from their ideas because the government owned all the ideas that made money. There was no freedom of expression, people were monitored and labelled enemies of the nation with severe consequences if they were thought to be so.

Henk Rogers characterized by Taron Egerton, is a charismatic and sincere character, his only motivation is to provide economic stability for his family, which consists of his wife and four children. He is shown as a kind and fair person who speaks the truth during any business, a quality that led him to secure the rights of the Tetris game.

Another element that I liked is that even though it is a biographical film, we can see scenes of suspense, action, and even humour, all in the right measure, making its development more interesting for the viewer.

The graphic part was beautiful, in each chapter cut they showed figures of the same Tetris game designed in a spectacular way that made you believe you were watching a movie and a game, the scenes with more action were pixelated, it is a very original way to remember that everything is based on the game of Tetris.

The performances, costumes, and different environments during the development of the film were extraordinary. I enjoyed all the time I watched this movie, it is one of the few I would dare to watch again because it is fun, exciting, emotional, and leaves an important message about the value of friendship, loyalty, justice, and ambition.

Hay muchos elementos de esta película que me cautivaron empezando por el contexto histórico muestran cómo es la vida en comunismo, toda la represión que existía a los miembros de la comunidad, donde un ciudadano común no podía ganar por sus ideas porque el gobierno era el dueño absoluto de las ideas que generan dinero, no existe libertad de expresión, las personas eran vigiladas si caían bajo la etiqueta de ser un enemigo de la nación y las consecuencias que debían vivir si ellos pensaban que era así.

Henk Rogers caracterizado por Taron Egerton, es un personaje carismático y sincero, su única motivación es darle estabilidad económica a su familia que está conformada por su esposa y sus cuatro hijos, se muestra como una persona amable justo y qué dice la verdad durante cualquier negocio cualidad que lo llevó asegurarse de los derechos del juego tetris.

Otro elemento que me gustó es que aunque es una película del género biográfico, podemos ver escenas de suspenso, acción, y hasta humor, todo a su justa medida, haciendo más interesante su desarrollo para el espectador.

La parte gráfica fue hermosa en cada corte de capítulo mostraban figuras del mismo juegos de Tetris diseñadas de forma espectacular que te hacían creer que estabas viendo una película y un juego, las escenas de mayor acción las mostraban pixeladas es una forma muy original de recordar que todo se basa en el juego de Tetris.

Las actuaciones el vestuario y los diferentes ambientes durante el desarrollo de la película me parecieron extraordinarios disfruté todo el tiempo que miré esta película es de las pocas que me atrevería a repetir porque es divertida emocionante, emotiva y te deja un mensaje importante sobre el valor de la amistad, la lealtad, la justicia y la ambición.

Released in 1989, directed with a very attentive eye by director Arthur Hiller (who did a good job here), written by Earl Barret, Arne Sultan and Marvin Worth, this project features Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder as a pair of extremely clumsy, but very fun and charismatic. Wilder plays Dave, who is the owner of a magazine stand and offers a job opportunity to Wally (played by Pryor). On any given day, a murder ends up happening in front of the place where they work and they end up being the only witnesses.

In addition to being the witnesses, they eventually end up becoming the main suspects of a crime they did not commit. The big problem here is that Wally is blind and Dave is deaf. One of them only managed to see the shooter's legs (Eve, a beautiful assassin played by Joan Severance), while the other only managed to hear the shot and to prove that they are not to blame for the crime, they end up becoming fugitives from the police (and from the killers themselves who are also looking for them, in this case, Eve and her accomplice Kirgo, who is played by Kevin Space).

I love how the duo of Pryor and Wilder work here. They are natural comedians, and could mutually dull each other's shine, albeit in an unintentional way. However, fortunately, they further enhance their own talents and shine in an intelligent plot (despite its intentional exaggerations), which manages to be quite cautious when dealing with sensitive themes (in this case, blindness and deafness) amid to a collection of good jokes that are genuine and very functional without making any kind of appeal to empty or inappropriate meanings.

The way the script is constructed is very captivating. Therefore, it is impossible not to care about the duo that is the central focus of the plot. Not just because they have some kind of disability and are being unfairly accused of a crime they didn't commit, but because the characters are really well constructed and really bring a light and very funny atmosphere to the project as a whole. Pryor and Wilder were very insightful in their construction, showing a politically correct comedy on screen, full of very well thought out and written jokes.

Amidst a very relevant plot (something that is almost rare to see in current comedy movies), these two comedians make the most of their talent, creating almost a “private identity” for this project. The situations in which they are inserted happen at random, creating a “snowball” of problems with unlikely (and always very funny) outcomes. Pryor and Wilder really are the soul of See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and just by their simple presence on the screen, everything becomes a success. Two brilliant comedians, ahead of their time.

Concurso CineTV: “No me chilles, que no te veo”, una comedia absurdamente brillante.

Estrenada en 1989, dirigida con una mirada muy atenta por el director Arthur Hiller (que hizo un buen trabajo aquí), escrita por Earl Barret, Arne Sultan y Marvin Worth, este proyecto presenta a Richard Pryor y Gene Wilder como una pareja de personas extremadamente torpes, pero muy divertido y carismático. Wilder interpreta a Dave, dueño de un puesto de revistas y que le ofrece una oportunidad laboral a Wally (interpretado por Pryor). Un día cualquiera, un asesinato acaba ocurriendo frente al lugar donde trabajan y ellos acaban siendo los únicos testigos.

Además de ser testigos, acaban convirtiéndose en los principales sospechosos de un crimen que no cometieron. El gran problema aquí es que Wally es ciego y Dave es sordo. Uno de ellos solo logró ver las piernas del tirador (Eve, una bella asesina interpretada por Joan Severance), mientras que el otro solo logró escuchar el disparo y demostrar que no tienen la culpa del crimen, terminan convirtiéndose en fugitivos de de la policía (y de los propios asesinos que también los buscan, en este caso Eve y su cómplice Kirgo, interpretado por Kevin Space).

Me encanta cómo trabaja aquí el dúo formado por Pryor y Wilder. Son comediantes natos y podrían opacar mutuamente el brillo del otro, aunque sea de manera involuntaria. Pero, afortunadamente, potencian aún más sus propios talentos y brillan en una trama inteligente (a pesar de sus intencionadas exageraciones), que logra ser bastante cautelosa al tratar temas delicados (en este caso, la ceguera y la sordera) en medio de una colección de buenos chistes. que sean genuinos y muy funcionales sin hacer ningún tipo de apelación a dispositivos vacíos o inapropiados.

La forma en que está construido el guión es muy cautivadora. Por tanto, es imposible no preocuparse por el dúo que constituye el foco central de la trama. No sólo porque tienen algún tipo de discapacidad y están siendo acusados injustamente de un crimen que no cometieron, sino porque los personajes están muy bien construidos y realmente aportan una atmósfera ligera y muy divertida al proyecto en su conjunto. Pryor y Wilder fueron muy perspicaces en su construcción, mostrando en pantalla una comedia políticamente correcta, llena de chistes muy bien pensados y escritos.

En medio de una trama muy relevante (algo casi raro de ver en las películas de comedia actuales), estos dos comediantes aprovechan su talento, creando casi una “identidad privada” para este proyecto. Las situaciones en las que se insertan suceden al azar, creando una “bola de nieve” de problemas con resultados improbables (y siempre muy divertidos). Pryor y Wilder realmente son el alma de No me chilles, que no te veo, y con sólo su simple presencia en pantalla, todo se convierte en un éxito. Dos comediantes brillantes y adelantados a su tiempo.

Concurso CineTV: “Cegos, Surdos e Loucos”, uma comédia absurdamente genial.

Lançado no ano de 1989, dirigido com um olhar muito atento do diretor Arthur Hiller (que aqui fez um bom trabalho), escrito por Earl Barret, Arne Sultan e Marvin Worth, este projeto traz Richard Pryor e Gene Wilder como uma dupla de protagonistas extremamente atrapalhada, mas muito divertida e carismática. Wilder interpreta Dave, que é o dono de uma banca de revistas, oferece uma oportunidade emprego para Wally (interpretado por Pryor). Em um dia qualquer, um assassinato acaba acontecendo na frente do local onde eles trabalham e eles acabam sendo as únicas testemunhas.

Além de serem as testemunhas, eles eventualmente acabam se tornando os principais suspeitos de um crime que eles não cometeram. O grande problema aqui é que Wally é cego e Dave é surdo. Um deles apenas conseguiu ver as pernas do atirador (Eve, uma bela assassina interpretada por Joan Severance), enquanto o outro apenas conseguiu ouvir o tiro e para provar que eles não são os culpados pelo crime, eles acabam se tornando foragidos da polícia (e dos próprios assassinos que também os estão procurando, neste caso, Eve e seu cúmplice Kirgo, que é interpretado por Kevin Space).

Eu adoro como a dupla Pryor e Wilder trabalho aqui. Eles são comediantes natos, e poderiam mutualmente apagar o brilho um do outro, ainda que de uma maneira não intencional. No entanto, felizmente, eles potencializam ainda mais os seus próprios talentos e brilham em uma trama inteligente (apesar dos seus exageros propositais), e que consegue ser bastante cautelosa ao lidar com temas sensíveis (neste caso, a cegueira e a surdez) em meio a uma coleção de boas piadas que são genuínas e muito funcionais sem fazer qualquer tipo de apelação para artifícios vazios ou inadequados.

O modo como o roteiro é construído é muito cativante. Sendo assim, é impossível não se importar com a dupla que é o foco central da trama. Não apenas por eles terem algum tipo de deficiência e estarem sendo injustamente acusados de um crime que eles não cometeram, mas porque os personagens são realmente bem construídos e realmente trazem uma atmosfera leve e muito engraçada para o projeto como um todo. Pryor e Wilder foram muito perspicazes em suas construções, mostrando na tela uma comédia politicamente correta, repleta de piadas muito bem pensadas e escritas.

Em meio à uma trama bastante relevante (algo que atualmente é quase raro de ser visto nos filmes de comédias atuais), esses dois comediantes exploram o máximo do talento deles, criando quase que uma “identidade particular” para este projeto. As situações nas quais eles são inseridos acontecem ao acaso, criando uma “bola de neve” de problemas com desfechos improváveis (e sempre muito engraçados). Pryor e Wilder realmente são à alma de Cegos, Surdos e Loucos, e apenas pela simples presença dos dois na tela, tudo já se torna um sucesso. Dois comediantes geminais, e à frente do tempo deles.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) is the fourth installment in the humorous franchise that relaunched with the comedian Eddie Murphy in the lead role of the detective Axel Foley, this new addition to the film series well known across the world, I'm glad to watch Foley returning to Beverly Hills but bit of a twist as the plot begins the threat of his daughter’s life is used. This personal crisis becomes the reason for Foley’s going back to the city where he had become well known, which means he teams up with his former friends and partners, John Taggart (John Ashton) and Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold), they dive into a web of a highly complicated mystery that not only concerns the safety of Foley’s family.

The movie develops in a way that is still appealing to the viewers of the original series, from comedy to action and now including more drama into the role.. It is made even more engaging and interactive with the help of the main cast, such as Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Taylour Paige, with Kevin Bacon’s character brings some mystery into the story and would make the show more interesting whereas Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character brings a new perspective to the team, as for Taylour Paige who plays the role of Foley’s daughter, she turns into a key figure in the film’s emotional aspect as she supplies the character with a personal interest, thus adding concern and intensity to the character’s assignment.

The narrative of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is the title of the movie and is about the return of Axel Foley to Beverly Hills because his daughter Jane is in danger. This personal struggle brings Foley back together with his former partner and friend John Taggart, as well as his former partner and rival Billy Rosewood in order to prevent a terrorist plot not only affecting his family but the safety of the entire city of Beverly Hills. There are new characters in the film; Joseph Gordon Levitt plays the role of Detective Bobby Abbott, Jane’s ex boyfriend and Foley new partner and Kevin Bacon as the police captain Cade Grant working with the Beverly Hills Police Department. Jane Saunders, Foley’s estranged daughter role is play by Taylour Paige; she works as a criminal defense attorney in Beverly Hills.

As there is more synergy between the small and big screen it seem to me that bringing back Axel, specially on a movie that will release on a streaming platform like Netflix opens the door to more movies for the franchise, would not be strange if they try to go for a trilogy or even a TV series as other movies has done, something very incentivized by the MCU between their Movies and TV series. From what I have seen on the trailer Eddie Murphy still has a lot to give, his original movies are great even though the third iteration of the franchise was not so good as the first two, I'm on the side that we need more of Eddie Murphy on the entertaining industry.

This sequel stars Eddie Murphy once more as Axel Foley a hilarious Detroit police officer now returning to Beverly Hills. Throughout his career Murphy has an extensive amount of hits to enjoy which include movies like: Coming to America, The Nutty Professor and the Shrek movies in which he does the voice for Donkey’s character. His coming back as Axel Foley is quite expected as the actor combines both humor and physical activities in his performances, which were evident in the film that made him famous, besides to keep the same essence its the only way to do it right and attract old viewers of the series and a new generation.

Paying alongside Murphy is several actors who resurface their roles in the original Beverly Hills Cop movies, some of them Billy Rosewood played by Judge Reinhold is a friend and a partner of Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Police Department although rather naive at times. Reinhold has featured in many films among them being Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) and the The Santa Clause (1994) series, his chemistry with Murphy was definitely one of the strengths of the first two films.

John Ashton also comes back to his role as John Taggart, Axel’s other former partner, Ashton has been constant in his film and television career and has worked in Midnight Run (1988) and Gone Baby Gone (2007), his character was more of a tough by the book guy, a perfect counterpoint to the wild Axel in the original series and his return brings back the old feel of the same in the new movie.

Paul Reiser also appears as Jeffrey Friedman, Axel’s colleague from Detroit police, Reiser is well known for his performances in the TV show Mad About You (1992), movies Aliens and more recently Stranger Things.

Taylour Paige stars in the film as Jane, Axel Foley’s daughter, Paige has featured in the movies  Zola and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, I'm not familiar with her work but I would expect she brings contrast to the character of Axel too, been his opposite.

Joseph Gordon Levitt is added to the cast of the movie as Detective Bobby Abbott, Jane’s ex boyfriend and Axel’s new partner, that is going to be hilarious to watch. As a young actor, Gordon Levitt has been very successful starring in Inception and Looper to mention some of the most famous.

Kevin Bacon is the main actor in the movie and he is cast as Captain Cade Grant who works for the Beverly Hills Police Department, Bacon is a true Hollywood actor with a long list of movies at his disposal including Footloose, Apollo 13 and Mystic River among others.

Mark Molloy is an Australian filmmaker whose works is mostly known by a unique mode of directing and an unusual combination of comedy and drama, by no means a newcomer to the advertising realm before this big project, he had earlier directed some popular commercials that highlighted his talents in both narration and imagery. He has focused on commercials as well especially those for Apple and the commercials have been acclaimed for their ingenuity and ability to evoke the audience’s emotions, he has been famous for getting many awards and recognition within the field.

It is a major development in his career that Molloy has changed from television to feature films, his approach to this project can be seen to reflect this in the sense that Axel has a background in crafting visually stimulating and emotionally appealing stories. During a few online interviews Molloy showed his passion towards the Beverly Hills Cop movies and his desire to give new vision to the popular series.

Murphy has mentioned in interviews that Molloy encouraged the show to be free wheeling so that he could start doing his type of comedy, this way was rather successful and implemented some of the funniest and memorable scenes in the film, illustrating Molloy’s abilities to work with both scripted and improvised scenes.

For a long time, the production was slow and only when Mark Molloy joined the team as director in April 2022 the project got the push needed and filming started in California in August 2022.  Eddie Murphy who also wrote the screenplay and acted as the producer was met with a lot of criticism and doubts since the comedian’s success had recently fainted because of some of his recent movies and scandals, this skepticism was not only directed at the prequels, some people asked if a new movie could bring back the spirit of the first three films. The shooting of this film ended in the first trimester of year 2023 and the post production work was also done in full earnest to deliver a product that would meet the expectations of the viewers and critics. The consequence of this is a film that is trying to be a new part of the series while also bringing back the old characters and themes to the audience.

I'm really glad that the movie has the full escence of the previous iterations, a good amount of the original cast is also back making contrast with the additional characters and actors. The movie been release on a streaming platform like Netflix will certaintly give a larger amount of viewers in the short and long term based on how the scene of entertaiment has change in the last decade.

Murphy has shown how he can switch between drama and comedy while still making the plot work and his coming back as Axel Foley is a homecoming and an exploration at the same time since part of the audience thinks he cant putll this off but from the different trailers released I think he just got this one on the bag. The stunts look choreographed in a way that the Hong Kong’s tradition of spectacular action scenes from the 80s and comedy are not left out as it has been depicted in the old series.

There is a lot of expectations for this movie, I can already see myself enjoying it and laughing about the occurences of Axel, listening to the classic theme song that has never died across the year making it an iconic movie series for so long.

Si les soy sincera me gustó un poco más la primera parte porque esta segunda la sufrí bastante al revelarse la verdad y ver cómo todo se ponía patas para arriba. Sentí que lo que tendría que haber sido un momento de felicidad plena para esta pareja quedó manchado por este secreto que salió a la luz. 

To be honest, I liked the first part a little more because I suffered a lot in the second part when the truth was revealed and everything was turned upside down. I felt that what should have been a moment of happiness for this couple was tainted by this secret that came to light.

Con esto no quiero decir que no me gustará porque en realidad me encantó, pero hubo mucho más drama y enemistad que al principio. Sin embargo, no deben preocuparse porque no hay mal que dure para siempre, así que al final hubo solución. El desenlace fue lo que más me gustó y, además, que seria de una buena serie de romance histórico sin su cuota de dramatismo.

By this I don't mean that I didn't like it because I actually loved it, but there was a lot more drama and enmity than at the beginning. However, you should not worry because there is no evil that lasts forever, so in the end there was a solution. The denouement was what I liked the most and, besides, what would a good historical romance series be without its share of drama.

Aunque debo decir que la sentí mucho más apresurada a esta temporada que a otras, también hubo algunos saltos en el tiempo. Todo sucedió muy rápido, además de que hubo varias subtramas sucediendo en el medio. Me hubiera gustado que se centraran un poco más en la pareja principal, pero con tantas situaciones sucediendo era difícil. 

Although I must say that I felt this season was much more rushed than others, there were also some time jumps. Everything happened very fast, plus there were several subplots happening in between. I would have liked them to focus a little more on the main couple, but with so many situations happening it was difficult.

Lo que más me gustó es ver a una Penelope tan consciente de su propio poder con la pluma y aprendiendo a usarlo con responsabilidad. Ella logró mostrarle al mundo su verdadera esencia y, al final, hasta su madre tuvo que reconocer que estaba orgullosa de ella y de todo lo que logró. Me gustó mucho el personaje de Lady Featherington esta temporada, aunque haya hecho cosas imperdonables no cabe duda de que es un gran personaje y sus otras hijas también, siempre me hacen reír.

What I liked most is to see Penelope so aware of her own power with the pen and learning to use it responsibly. She managed to show the world her true essence and, in the end, even her mother had to acknowledge that she was proud of her and all that she accomplished. I really liked Lady Featherington's character this season, even if she did unforgivable things there is no doubt that she is a great character and her other daughters too, they always make me laugh.

Me encantó esta historia y la temporada esta buena, pero se nota que están queriendo amoldar la serie a la agenda televisiva actual y cambiando hechos significativos para los fanáticos de los libros. De todos modos, a mi me gusta pensar que se pueden disfrutar de ambas versiones, tanto la de los libros como la de la serie y es entretenido ver con qué van a salir en las próximas temporadas. Por lo pronto, les recomiendo que vean esta serie si no lo hicieron y disfrútenla que para eso está.

I loved this story and the season is good, but you can tell that they are trying to mold the series to the current TV agenda and changing significant facts for fans of the books. Anyway, I like to think that you can enjoy both versions, both the books and the series and it is entertaining to see what they will come up with in the next seasons. For now, I recommend that you watch this series if you haven't already and enjoy it, that's what it's there for.

I had pending to watch this series that I overlooked when its first season premiered. Time passed and the seasons piled up. This has happened to me with several series. It is a very successful series, but having already five seasons aired, I was lazy to watch it, as I knew it would take me a long time.

I tried to watch it a few months ago, when another user posted a review about this saga. At that time I couldn't finish the first episode. My mood is an important factor when it comes to watching a new series and at that time I didn't want to get into another family drama full of betrayals. So I waited until I was in the mood to watch it and boy did I like it.

Taylor Shridan is a great storyteller. He is a talented screenwriter who has also dabbled in directing. I have yet to write about Wind River, a film he wrote and directed. The filmmaker wrote the screenplays for Sicario and its sequel. I also recommend you see Hell or High Water, written by Sheridan and directed by David Mkenzie.

Yellostone is just that, a Neo Wenstern in which Sheridan demonstrates his ability to captivate the viewer with a combination of ingredients that is hard to resist. The score may not be perfect. There are several things that annoyed me about the five seasons I've seen, but there are others that hook.

Taylor Sheridan is from Texas, so you can tell he has a passion for the modern western. He's touched on it in several of his scripts and with Yellowstone he got it right. Even he, who is also an actor, has appearances in some episodes, playing Travis.

Tenía pendiente ver esta serie que pasé por alto cuando se estrenó su primera temporada. Pasó el tiempo y las temporadas se acumularon. Esto me ha pasado con varias series. Es una serie de mucho éxito, pero al tener ya cinco temporadas emitidas, me daba pereza verla, ya que sabía que me llevaría mucho tiempo.

Intenté verla hace unos meses, cuando otro usuario publicó una crítica sobre esta saga. En ese momento no pude terminar el primer episodio. Mi estado de ánimo es un factor importante a la hora de ver una nueva serie y en aquel momento no quería meterme en otro drama familiar lleno de traiciones. Así que esperé a estar de humor para verla y vaya si me gustó.

Taylor Shridan es un gran narrador. Es un guionista de talento que también ha incursionado en la dirección. Aún no he escrito sobre Wind River, película que escribió y dirigió. El cineasta escribió los guiones de Sicario y su secuela. También os recomiendo ver Hell or High Water, escrita por Sheridan y dirigida por David Mkenzie.

Yellostone es eso, un Neo Wenstern en el que Sheridan demuestra su habilidad para cautivar al espectador con una combinación de ingredientes a la que es difícil resistirse. La puntuación puede no ser perfecta. Hay varias cosas que me molestaron de las cinco temporadas que he visto, pero hay otras que enganchan.

The saga of the Dutton family is gripping. Family, secrets, ambition, fights, traumas, cowboys, horses, cattle, spectacular sunsets, blood, violence and lots of death. From the beginning the pillars of the overall story are erected. John Dutton with his family, fighting not to lose the enormous amount of land that has belonged to them for six generations. A land that belonged to the Native Americans who now live on the reservation. Two opposing worlds, who must also fight against the corporate power of other cities that want to transform all that territory for the benefit of their economic interests.

It is a series of men with hair on their chests. Rugged. Country people. Authentic cowboys. Foul-mouthed and smelling of cattle shit from working all day, sweating and getting dusty. Cowboys who suffer in silence and put up with harassment and don't go around whining ridiculously. The macho vernacular archetype, where Jhon Dutton is the boss, the boss of bosses, who everyone respects and fears. A straight white male of the concrete generation. So I don't think this series is very appealing to the porcelain generation. Whoever goes in to work at Yellowstone Ranch, comes out transformed into a mere male. I like Jimmy's story arc as he goes from a wimpy delinquent to a cowboy who conquers beautiful women.

The scenery is another element I loved about the series. Set in the state of Montana. It's a visual treat to enjoy the photography and those sequences. Even though I'm a city person who doesn't like to live in the country, I like to see those landscapes in movies and TV series. Horses, hats, country music, plaid shirts, etc, don't appeal to me in real life, but I like to see it on the screen. I couldn't be a cowboy, I can't stand the smell of manure from horses, cows, bulls, etc.

La saga de la familia Dutton es apasionante. Familia, secretos, ambición, peleas, traumas, vaqueros, caballos, ganado, atardeceres espectaculares, sangre, violencia y mucha muerte. Desde el principio se erigen los pilares de la historia general. John Dutton con su familia, luchando por no perder la enorme cantidad de tierra que les ha pertenecido durante seis generaciones. Una tierra que pertenecía a los nativos americanos que ahora viven en la reserva. Dos mundos opuestos, que además deben luchar contra el poder corporativo de otras ciudades que quieren transformar todo ese territorio en beneficio de sus intereses económicos.

Es una serie de hombres con pelo en pecho. Rudos. Gente de campo. Auténticos cowboys. Malhablados y con olor a mierda de ganado de trabajar todo el día, sudar y llenarse de polvo. Vaqueros que sufren en silencio y que aguantan el acoso y no van por ahí lloriqueando ridículamente. El arquetipo machista vernáculo, donde Jhon Dutton es el jefe, el jefe de jefes, al que todos respetan y temen. Un hombre blanco heterosexual de la generación del hormigón. Así que no creo que esta serie sea muy atractiva para la generación porcelana. Quien entra a trabajar en el rancho Yellowstone, sale transformado en un mero macho. Me gusta el arco argumental de Jimmy, que pasa de ser un delincuente debilucho a un vaquero que conquista mujeres hermosas.

Los paisajes es otro elemento que me encantó de la serie. Ambientada en el estado de Montana. Es un placer visual disfrutar de la fotografía y de esas secuencias. Aunque soy una persona de ciudad a la que no le gusta vivir en el campo, me gusta ver esos paisajes en las películas y series de televisión. Los caballos, los sombreros, la música country, las camisas de cuadros, etc, no me atraen en la vida real, pero me gusta verlo en la pantalla. No podría ser vaquero, no soporto el olor a estiércol de caballos, vacas, toros, etc.

The latest film directed by Michael Keaton, Knox Goes Away (2023), tries to tell the audience a some what complex story of crime and a man’s downfall but fails to do so, at times it felt the main character had too many things at hand but not really focusing in any of them although towards the end that change a bit when he was trying to stay out of jail just before his time and memory runs out and keep his son a free man. Keaton plays the role of John Knox, a contract killer who is suffering from dementia that is advancing at a very fast rate. Even with such a talented cast as James Marsden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig and Al Pacino, the movie fails to properly develop the plot and keep the audience interested, I do not think the problem were the actors. The story features a number of side stories within the main character such as the conflict between Knox and his family and an investigation led by the detective Emily Ikari, however all of these subplots seem rather undeveloped. The portrayal of Creutzfeldt Jakob disease is rather unconvincing and is used as just another element of the film plot, I think there had to be something else than just acting like he is loosing memory, some other side effect that really represents the disease if not just call it loosing memory. Knox had a complicated life from his wife, son, lover and business partner but some of this are left to a lot of questioning needing a bit more of complex, I'm not trying to say this is a bad movie by any means, I really enjoy watching but through out the movie there was always that sensation of a lot of why? in the air.

The plot revolves around John Knox, a professional assassin who is diagnosed with a type of dementia that results in memory loss within weeks not and not months, getting him against the clock since basically now he has to plan like he is about to die, mentally he will since he will keep forgetting things from one minute to another to the point that he might just loose it at all. This diagnosis is especially challenging for a man who relies on his efficiency and avoiding leaving any traces behind as the professional killer he is but even knowing what he is going through decided to take one last job that in fact does that, left traces behind and fuck it up. The movie tries to describe Knox’s work and his personal issues at the same time and this leads to the problem of pacing, it felt like the movie was constantly putting a stop to the situation at hand, from his diagnose to his last job and the only thing that felt he really carry out to the end was cashing out and make sure his son stay a free man after in a anger attack he commit murder and now comes for his father help. The only real emotional connection is with Knox’s estranged family, particularly his son Miles portrayed by James Marsden.

I have seen Suzy Nakamura on other movies and TV series and really like her comedy aspect but on this movie she felt over acting, she try to be this bossy detective who knows it all, I have mention before that any content that generates an emotion is good content well Suzy is going to make sure you hate her character Detective Emily Ikari, not because she is after Knox but the way she portray her character, not sure if this is a problem of her not performing or a bad script.

The plot twist of the story is how Knox son all of the sudden after many years appear out of no where asking for his help, it also felt kinda force because its like OK you help me or not, he was basically demanding and not asking but that could be just part of his character who constantly had anger problems everywhere he goes.

Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Knox is perhaps the film’s biggest strength he does a great job of describing a man who is divided between two worlds and a man whose world is slowly being taken away by a disease. The scenes explaining Knox’s decline are well executed, giving the audience a look into the mind of a man who has spent his life in hiding from the rest, making sure everything is perfect, on time, not leaving traces behind, keeping a low profile. However, Keaton’s direction felt a bit flat with nothing special to it, no angles or shots that create that magic moment not as dynamic as required to enhance the script, here also falls what I mention before about the disease just looking as any other person loosing his memory. Through out the movie there are certain scene that felt a bit prolonged like one time when things were getting really bad he got lost in the woods, it was constant shots of dizziness with not much to it while other scenes felt rush like when he visits his ex wife to tell her she is going away for good this time.

The supporting cast is also a good one with James Marsden as Miles Knox does a good job in the role of the estranged father and son, Al Pacino as Xavier Crane the crime lord, is good but his character’s motive is not very clear throughout the movie, he is Knox friend but constantly reminds him to never trust him, not sure if that was just part of a inside joke they had, Marcia Gay Harden as Knox’s ex wife is wasted, I think there would have been more context  that would attach multiple other situations across the movie.

The visuals and direction of the movie I think do represent the low profile and shady life Knox has, lots of shadows, very little light, always hiding things, keeping secrets from others like he basically did not exist for many. The movie also was successful at generating emotions from the audience from the bossy detective who is desperate and fixed with Knox been the guy she is looking for but then felt short when she finds out she was wrong about it was very flat, it was his son Miles who did put to quite the scene when Knox goes visit him at jail he goes from happy, to desperate to full blown angry it was the perfect state. But the worst part probably was Knox at the end of the movie how he is mentally on a different world but the scene felt so rush and all through the movie I had this problem with the representation of the disease he had, it had to be more convincing and realistic, letting me feel it was not so believable other than convenient for the story.

The part where the movie is trying to describe a killer out of Knox felt short when it only mentions or onboard that part of his life at the beginning and at the end of the movie, when he pull a job that goes bad and when his son goes to him because of he needs help from his line of work. Having all this other side stories that were part of his life make the movie confusing, one can think that the theme of the movie is that someone on his position will do what ever it takes to take care of his love ones and this came out to be true specially when he had to cut off his four year lover, Annie who try to take care of the situation when she casually caught him in one of this moments where he felt lost and slip leaving a book open that he was reading about his condition then she tries to rob him, Knox tells her she was going to be part of that cash out plan but she fuck it up that was very believable and felt as a great moment on the movie, same as when he comes up with this big plan to make it look like he frame his son that was very believable too, the movie had it eureka moments but might be shadow by the pace problems and specially his fucking disease, hate that part of the movie.

Over all I sadly have to give it a 6.5/10, I say this because I felt the movie had some great moments that I really enjoy but I can tell many other viewers would not wait hold for that long and probably just shut it down on the spot the moment the movie is taking too long to climax or waiting for some action, since I do have patience once I see that the movie can be some what good I usually take my time, everything I watch now days feels as an investment of time so I try to be very careful on what I watch, also try to understand what I'm getting in before hand. I think its not worth going over the flaws of the movie but let you know that if you are looking to watch a movie about a killer suffering of dementia this is not for you, the movie ends up more about a man who is willing to do everything in his power to make sure his love ones are safe and taken care of, sacrifice, love and loyalty.

A Spanish series, quite eloquent, a unique dialect, as they are, their swear words, their expressions, their ideas, their characters, somewhat coarse, clumsy, lack of emotions, certainly a series, which should be talked about a little bit.

ENTERREVÍAS, is the name of this series, in which we will see the story of a former military man, owner of a hardware store in one of the neighborhoods of Madrid, where his life will change, when his granddaughter decides to move to live with him; it has (3) seasons, and apparently, a fourth one is coming, each episode with a duration of approximately 1 hour, with 8 chapters.

It combines a little bit of police action with some comedy, with a family approach, dramatic, dynamic, quite entertaining, that yes, you can not deny, it has its moments, between the touch of violence, drama, and comedy, that will make you smile a little, as I said, with the quite humorous language of the Spaniards.

ENTREVÍAS, es el nombre de dicha serie, en la que veremos la historia de un ex militar, dueño de una ferretería en uno de los barrios de Madrid, donde su vida cambiara, cuando su nieta decida mudarse a vivir con él; tiene (3) temporadas, y aparentemente, se viene una cuarta, cada episodio con una duración de 1 hora aproximadamente, con 8 capítulos.

La misma combina un poco de acción policiaca con algo de comedia, con un enfoque familiar, dramático, dinámica, bastante entretenida, eso sí, no se le puede negar, tiene sus momentos, entre el toque de violencia, drama, y comedia, que te hará sonreír un poco, como dije, con el lenguaje bastante jocoso de los españoles.

Tres temporadas, bastante elocuentes, con sus altos y bajos, confieso que la primera temporada es la del enganche, como siempre, como suele pasar en la mayoría de las series, ya después de la segunda pierden un poco el sentido, donde piensas, lo hubieran dejado con una sola y ya; sin embargo, los productores de esta serie, pensaron en darle más rienda, a ver que más se inventaban, no niego, me envicie queriendo verla toda, y como eran pocos capítulos en cada temporada, mejor, eso sí, demasiado largo, parecía más como una telenovela.

The very anticipated TV Series House of The Dragon is back with Season 2 and their first episode "A Son for A Son", it was a very good episode, would not call it a wild one but still production was very good as usual, this episodes almost feel like a half movie. The fist episodes focus on the consequences and actions to take from both sides, specially from the Blacks (Targaryen) after Queen Rhaenyra finds a wing of her son's dragon Arrax. Rhaenyra has been looking for prove that they both dead for days, going up and down close to Storms End castle where Aemond without intention killed Lucerys Velaryon, Rhaenyra son, after he lost control of Vhagar, an event that unleash the war upon.

The episode takes place through different locations from the the cold lands of the North at House Stark to the Read Keep at the royal palace in King's Landing. There is a lot of feelings display through out the episode, sorrow, conflict and rage, everyone had their own issues with what is going on from Daemon who can't just fly to King's Landing and burn it all because Rhaenyra is not there to command, Rhaenyra not finding prove of her sons death for days, Rhaenys living with certain guilt for not burning The Greens when she had the opportunity although was not her call, on this recap I will touch on this topics to lay down what might come next, consider I have not read the books at all so this is speculation of an average viewer probably just like you.

he episode starts with Prince Jacaerys Velaryon at the Wall, asking Cregan Stark for support for his mother, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen but is at this moment that Jacaerys is inform of his brother Lucerys’ death through a raven from Dragonstone, I was hoping for a more dramatic scene but it was cut off after Cregan gave him the look of bad news, like this is not meant for me, its you. Back at Dragonstone, Rhaenyra is missing in action, mourning her sons death but still uncertain until she found a group of fisherman who have found a wing of Arrax, next to the wing was Lucerys cape and its this moment that let her start her mourning and burst into rage, exactly what Daemon needs at the moment because he is ready to go but his Queen is not there to command, in the mean time Daemon is taking cheap shots at who ever is on his path this time been Rhaenys who in fact didn't wipe out The Greens when she had the chance, if she had then Lucerys would probably still be alive. At this point in time not many know about Lucerys death or at least not confirm, the first person to know is Daemon, there still not many reactions to this event, the Sea Snake is with Rhaenyra and has establish a blockade at sea along with Rhaenys and Meleys trying to starve Kings Landing, making almost impossible for any ships to deliver supplies to Kings Landing, at least by sea. Once Rhaenyra is back she intermediate ask for Aemond head, this unleash Daemon and I'm sure he does not explain his plans before action, been the dragon that he is, he takes justice by his own hand and showing the mad man that he is, same as he did on Season 1 at the Stepstones when his brother, back then the king offer him help and he felt it was not needed because only him could.

At Kings Landing Aegon II rules, there is tension and I really though he would be type of king Joffrey was on Game of Thrones but instead he is very kind or we can call it naive at the moment, with his people as he offers to return sheep to some and pay blacksmiths what they crown owes them even against his uncle recommendations. Aemon is extremely confident of Aemond and Vhagar but his mother Alicent and uncle Otto Hightower prefer caution, there is still a conflict of power between this two one been the mother of the king and the other been the hand, both want to have a grip on Aegon, there is division within the Greens that could let them to confusion and not acting on time.

Perhaps one of the most shocking events of the episode is the murder of Aegon and Helaena’s young son Jaehaerys by the assassins Blood and Cheese, who were basically two men who hate the Greens as much as they love gold. Daemon plans this act of revenge for the death of Lucerys and sends a strong message to their enemy, the outcome was not exaclty what he wanted since the target was Aemond but Cheese did ask "What if we can't find him....A Son for A Son". It is quite suspenseful and creepy, with Helaena being put in a position where she has to decide between her children, which results in the death of her son, this act of violence prolongs the war and guarantees that there will be no reconciliation between the two sides, the Blacks just killed the heir of the throne.

The event starts with Daemon getting information from Mysaria who is discovered to have sneaked into a ship heading to Dragonstone, she and Daemon were once lovers but always business partners, she handed information for him but also for anyone who would pay enough, Daemon confronts her for conspiring with the Hightowers but she tells him that they hired her. Later, Daemon offers Mysaria a deal,  her knowledge in exchange for her freedom as she has now been accuse of conspiracy against the Blacks. With the help of Mysaria, Daemon is able to reach out to a castle guard who has a grudge against the Hightowers and a rat catcher who is familiar with the tunnels under the Red Keep and knowledge of how to get into the castle, these two men, known as Blood and Cheese were send out specifically to kill Aemond, if not any other son of Alicent but they ended up killing a way higher profile individual.

Blood and Cheese get into the Red Keep through the underground tunnels and walk through the throne room, almost near Aegon, they are just rat catchers doing their thing keeping the rats under control since there are rats all over the castle. Initially they get lost but after wondering around they finally get to the royal chambers, Aemond is not there anymore but instead Cheese arrive at the nursery where Helaena is looking after her children who are sleeping, Blood heard them. Blood is the one most desicive and tell her that they will let her and her daughter go if she tells him who of both is the son, they are after a male. Helaena got into a state of shock and desperation but after a couple of minutes had no other choice to agree and runs away to look for help while the men decapitate the child.

Lord Corlys Velaryon, also known as the Sea Snake is brought back after being severely injured in the previous season, he is seen at the seaport thanking Alyn, the man who helped him escape. Corlys was master of ship at Kings Landing, leaving them without a Navy he is now with the Blacks, both his Navy and his wife with her Dragon have taken a desicion, after all they are family and cant turn their back. Corlys Navy is heavily damage so its not like they can just go an attack Kings Landing at will, it will take weeks before he can get a good gripp of the sea and start planning an strategic move.

Lord Larys as is per usuall is cooking something with the help of Alicent, I really enjoy how the show briefly puts him on the scene and then he is gone, he does that when he tells Alicent the staff that was loyal or had any ties to Rhaenyra is now gone "they not breathing the same air" to what Alicent is very unconfortable, she has a problem with killing people none the less she allow it. There is the battle for power between Alicent and her father Otto to see who has more grip over Aemon, none of the two has so far accept it but thats how I see things, to this Larys also takes action asking Aemon for a few minutes that basically ended with a message "do you want people to see you as your father? Otto was his hand" not the exact words but his intention is to let him know that he might look weak to others having Otto as his hand been that is how many look at Vicerys when he was alive, so who is Larys favoring this time? is it all personal interest, is he helping Alicent or its all business as usual.

As you can tell it is very evident that the entire episode goes around the Blood and Cheese event that brought way more severe consequences than what probably Daemon wanted, I could probably see his face like "damn this guys went too far" decapitating a child?? come on, there was a lot of speculation if they would show this actions on the episode but it was obvious the would not, one thing was the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones where they were all adults and here we talking about decapitating a child, they didn't put audio of the child crying, this is what I was expecting.

There are internal conflicts on each house preventing a burst of war although the murder of the crown heir could be the event that unleash war and have the Greens start to move their army towards the Blacks territory, at the moment the Greens have a bigger army, the biggest dragon with two more of a good size too but the Blacks they have way more dragons, they are even short on riders for the amount of dragons at hand with the Sea Snake Navy and the support from other houses that could build up a good size army. Both house have certain amount of power but none have a total advantage over each other, what have change is the perception probably after Daemon got Jaehaerys murder, other houses will start to ask how is it possible that they got into the castle and kill the heir? during this situation Vahgar and the army are worth nothing and they could have done the same with the King.
