While trying to finish Longing for you and waiting for the 2 final episodes, I came across Good Job, a south korean action comedy drama starring Jung Il-Woo. If you’re familiar with Stealer: The Treasure Keeper, it bears quite a bit of resemblance but in this Good Job, there's an element of fantasy added to spice things up. Good Job has 12 episodes and each episode runs about an hour. K-drama is also known to be on the forefront of tech culture and it is shown in this video where NFT, Web3 and AI was mentioned. Considering it was 2022, those three were the buzzwords and this drama features a fictional setting of a company who works in those fields. Without further adieu, let me tell you what this k-drama is all about and whether it’s worth your time or not.
A mysterious old man appears at an exclusive auction and is actually a man in disguise who tries to look for the rare jewelry. His name is Eun Seon-Woo who works with his partner, a hacker and cleaner Yang Jin-Mo who is also a lawyer by his day profession. They both were working to uncover the mystery of a murder that involves Seon-Woo’s mother and the necklace. But during the day, Seon-Woo is actually a successful businessman and runs Eun Kang Group. One day, he was bumping into Don Se-Ra(Kwon-Yuri) who was working multiple jobs and they met when Se-Ra was in her delivery job. Seon-Woo while running from gangsters chasing after him, he uses Se-Ra’s motorbike. They eventually met a couple of times by chance and it turned out that his partner Jin-Mo was a neighbor of Se-Ra’s friend who owns a bakery nearby. Although at first they all meet in a bad situation, they eventually work together as Se-Ra has a unique ability that was needed by Seon Woo. Will they be able to uncover the necklace mystery? Find out more as you watch this action packed yet comedic K-drama.
When I first watched the first episode, I was already laughing so hard because Jin-Mo (Eum Moon-Suk) and Seon-Woo had a lot of comedic lines that made you laugh. It features high-tech references, scenes and also action packed. The mystery is also there and it drives the course of the story. It makes you wonder why the main character’s mother’s killed and the necklace was taken away. I have to say that after watching Longing for you, it was a breath of fresh air to find something so funny and entertaining. When compared to Stealer, it’s definitely more funny to me personally because though the other one has comedic lines and scenes, it wasn’t able to make me really laugh freely like Good Job. Somehow, this also reminds me of a K-drama Terius behind me but obviously, they have a different plot, just similar comedy and similar action style. I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for something fresh to watch.
The title of this episode is very well deserve and that's exactly what I try to recreate with the cover image of this post, at this point in time Miep is loosing it, the pressure is too much to the point she totally expose herself after a pair of German officers in a bike almost ran her over, she starts screaming at the and call them bastards but they just laugh at her. She had so many things on her plate with Kuno staying at their place as someone not welcome by the Nazi Party, Jan working with the resistance taking risky tasks to safe more people, hiding the Frank family who is now so positive that the allies are close to end the war but only Miep and Edith seem to be the only ones realistic enough to understand there is so much more to happen before the war ends, on top of all this there is Tonny Ahlers a man who is looking for Otto to collect on a black mail scheme that has been going for some time and he has connections within the Nazi Party that can come straight to the Frank's door, put all that together for a perfect mix of none stop stress yet there is still more coming to Miep so imagine how she could felt at that moment the German Soldiers almost ran her over with the bike to the point she didn't care anymore, she had to vent out and she did but quickly realize it could be her worst mistake when they stop and one of them pull his pistol. Miep and Jan could probably ran away from Amsterdam when the Germans arrive and be free some where else but they decided to stay, in the case of Miep she couldn't because her passport was revoke by the Germans but then when she married Jan then they could ran away and live a better life away from the war but friendship and patriotism kept them in Amsterdam, the friendship Miep had for Mr. Otto Frank and the love Jan had for his country, those are the main reasons they stay and decided to help those pursued by the Germans.
There are places on earth where you are constantly in danger, serious danger every day you wake up you don't know what to expect, some times there are those who don't even have the chance to wake up as things happen over night, one of those places is prison, in such aggressive environment where most of the time only the strongest and the smart survives you don't know where will problems come from, either the guards or other inmates, sometimes situations that had nothing to do with you but you are confine to a specific space that force you deal with it, war seems the same but with bigger borders, in the case of Jan and Miep the had an entire city but everywhere they go is a danger zone, things change over night either because the resistance did something that alerts the Germans or because allies hit them hard and Germans decided to rush things, just when people thought the war was getting closer to end, the worst part of it come to them and I think this is exactly what will happen to the Frank's in the next episodes, Ahlers is getting impatient and is looking for Otto under every rock he can until he finds him.
I really like how this moment represent how things change when Amsterdam was occupied by the Germans, one night this woman was a recognize musician playing the fiddle with a great orchestra for a large amount of people to came to see her, now she is playing to keep the mood up for all those victims of the war, a theater and now serves as refuge for those waiting to be transport to the German camps, most sick, tired, without hope that things will change for better but she knew she had to keep playing, at least there is one person on that room who still has hope and that's her.
A Small Light will probably go down in history as one of the best Tv Series to transmit the struggles of people in Amsterdam and other places during World War II, all the risks they took to survive and help others, Jan was part of that movement, they had to be ingenious to take advantage of every second, every space, every inch they could to trick the German Soldiers and sneak people, kids and infants out of the city without them noticing there was some one missing, but even Germans also where very smart to the point that they develop this skill set of persuasion, how they walk, how they talk infringes terror on those hiding and running away, most crack right there in fear of what was coming but those within the resistance were brutally brave and had the courage to stand up to the task, here is how a nurse standing across the street pretend to be smoking but the moment the light train comes by she receives a baby through a window and run to Jan so he could take the baby to the country side, then she keeps walking like nothing happen and goes back into the nurse house.
The moment Miep thought things couldn't get worst a set of event come to her very own place, this is what really make things boil up for her
- NSB Agent is now her neighbor
- Omnia Trust employees come to collect Jewish assets after Mrs. Stoppleman move out
- Kuno is terrible sick, fever and looks like dying making all kind of noises, NSB Agent upstairs
- Two nurses working for the resistance are now hiding at her house
All this within less of twenty four hours, next day she had to go work, walk to the office and pretend on the street that everything is fine, I walk every day from home to work, its a fifteen minute walk and I usually think about a lot of things, imagine everything that went trough her mind during the time she took to walk to work.
Things get slightly better for Miep and Jan at home, Kuno was not dying only had an infection because of some acne probably that end up bursting making feel much better, was gross and bloody too, Jan took the nurses and Max out of the city through the local guards transport, some where working with the resistance under cover and help him get all this four resistance members out of the city. This doesn't solve all Miep problems as the heavy duty is still at work with the Franks who are now loud, hopeful, basically out of control since they think the war is coming to an end soon with the allies landing on France, getting closer to the Germans.
Mrs. Frank has also hit the boiling point, she cant even stand her own family anymore, cant stand been confine to the same walls, without properly seen the sun, been outside, its been two years in lock down hiding from the Germans and the war still not over, all of the sudden everyone thinks it will end soon because allies are closer to them but they still need to end it and she cant see that happening any time soon, she feels things will get worst, I have not been in any War but have been lock down for more than two years and I know the feeling when at least if you had an exact date even if its ten years from now you can probably take it and wait but the worst part is not knowing when will it end.
This episode leaves me hanging but I think actually I'm sure this is Tonny Ahlers doing, either Otto pays him or he tells the Germans they hiding at the office building, I think that's what happens next and the reason for the image of a man pointing a pistol at Miep inside the office.
Not hundred percent sure why Boiling Point is the title of this episode, either because Kuno fever or all the troubles Miep went through a single day, its like the war burst at her place in one day bringing all kind of troubles to her door step, every single one of them could get her killed, not even arrested so it was a matter of time before she burst out too and that's what happen when she start yelling at the German Officers who almost ran her over, considering she was caring an illegal radio to the office, not only disrespecting an officer in public but also smuggling a radio to the place she is hiding her friends, it was the perfect combination to get killed on the stop and she didn't care anymore for a few seconds, this was probably a booster to keep on going after she vent out.

In the late 80's my older brother took me to see the movie of a group of heroes, which used martial arts to do justice in NYC; the particularity of these heroes is that they are a four teenage mutant turtles, I remember that as a kid I was very excited because it was a fun and fast story and not only that, since it took me to see the animated series which became one of my favorites; after some time passed, I lost interest in these heroes, but I am still surprised that they keep impact in different generations or in their many versions both in movies and TV shows and even though there are live-action productions, animated or that unite both worlds, I think that just the animated ones are the ones that do true justice to these pizza loving characters.
In this publication I will review the seventh film based on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles " which is known as "Mutant Mayhem "; in this opportunity we will see the origin of these four teenage heroes, along with their mentor and other characters that will be very important to the story; this is a great opportunity for people who have no knowledge of the four most heroic turtles both in movies and TV, know who are "Donatello", "Michelangelo", "Leonardo" and "Raphael" and not only them, but explore new versions of "Splinter", father figure of the turtles and of course, someone who is just as important, I mean "April O'Neil"; All of them must face a mutant threat that is determined to end first New York City and then the world, and that is why these young and new heroes must leave their fears behind and unite to save a world that fears them for who they are.
One of the main reasons that pushed me to see this film was that Jeff Rowe was the director; his work as director and screenwriter in "Gravity Falls" and "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" was enough to know that he would have a good direction and he does, it is a very funny and dynamic film, I think there is not a moment of pause and that makes it very fast, maybe it is too fast from its second act to the end of the film, but everything well done and that for the moments fits in this new story of these very well known characters. The action scenes are very good, the interaction between the four main characters, with their different personalities, but with the similarity that they are teenagers, allows this director to create comic scenes, (as I said before) fast and funny, maybe with some with more protagonism than others, but surely those will be elements to develop in a future sequel.
The script is something that caught my attention; this was written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit; this group of writers have experience in comedy and animated productions and in this opportunity they make a good balance in a film that in my opinion tries to open the mind to loyal fans of these characters and of course, capture the attention of new ones and which I think is the main objective of this film. In this story there are changes, some possibly radical although I think they should not be easy to grasp, since the origin of these heroes remains the same and perhaps the need to learn the ninja arts if you have a real change, but I thought it was great, appropriate for the story and I can even say that it has some influence of the 80'; the other thing I like is that this story is a Coming of Age, it is the beginning of the adolescence of these characters, the curiosity, the need to live new experiences makes them explore and take risks in their lives that makes them recognize the difference between good and evil, one of the important themes in this film.
I recently made a brief reference to how is the rhythm imposed in this film, it is quite fast and dynamic and precisely those scenes are what give value to the design of the characters; I really liked how NY is created in its different places, whether in the sewer, home of the Turtles, in the lair of the bad guys or even in a school; every detail, the use of bright, strong colors that call the attention precisely in the action and chase scenes, are what I found great, that together with the animation style that at times seems to be of the Stop-Motion type, especially with respect to the Ninja Turtles and that was the best. There is another characteristic that I value and it is precisely the difference between its four main characters, I liked that they maintain the physique of teenagers, they are different, they have a positive attitude and are accepted for who they are, although they explore the need to be accepted, I think everything about their design is important in that, they are not threatening, they are friendly, they are very positive heroes.
In general terms, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem", I liked it, it is a good origins film, in my opinion it works well to introduce these characters and those that will appear in the future; you can see that there is a plan and with the confirmation of a sequel, I hope that soon the story of these characters will continue to be told, although I think that some things should be improved, for example a better transition between the first and second act and I know that in this first film, there should have been a slow development to explain different things, important for that film and as I said, for the future, but the fast transition from the beginning of the second act onwards, makes you see a very rushed story to reach the climax and think about the sequel and that's something that I personally don't like, neither in this production, nor in any other; despite that, I had fun watching this story, it made me want to see more and I hope there will be more action and more interaction between these four brothers, which I have always believed is very important for this story; these are expectations of the future and I make reference to that because the few I had were surpassed and that is why I recommend watching this Teenage Ninja Turtles animated film.
On Episode 5 of Dead Ringers a more raw version of the birthing center investors came up, its a selfish project where only Beverly thinks its for the best of women, Rebecca to make ton of money from wealthy women and Elliot to play GOD and experiment with their patients, this is the true reality around the birthing center.
Elliot for me has always been the star of the show and she is about to get on deep troubles, you cant play at been GOD without any compromises and repercussions, at some point in time her experiments will go wrong, she will be over confident and everything will blow up on her hands at once, part of her experiment is her sister Beverly, she is pregnant and the baby she is carrying is Tom's without she even knowing it, that's a time bomb for another day but on this episode Elliot meets a man Marion, Susan's father who thinks the same as Elliot but in a more open and public way, in my opinion he only feed Elliot's ego and got her to get curious with Marion's daughter Florence at the moment she was giving birth, there is the double moral how Marion said it was ok to experiment and learn but when Elliot did it with his daughter then it was not anymore, after everything went down Rebecca, Susan's wife, again make it clear for everyone, she is the BOSS and owns everyone for all the money she is putting into this project.
A new character is introduce, Silas Jordan a writer who is a bit wash out, after wining a Pulitzer he haven't written anything worth it but in his own words, nothing has caught his attention but the twins fascinate him, because of how he looks at them and talk, mainly Elliot I think he probably going to try to destroy them and expose how Elliot is playing GOD with women child and Rebecca exploring them for money, this was very clear explain when at dinner Marion talk about a seventeen years old girl in the 1940s enslaved who had all kind of horrible problems to give birth and a Dr abuse of her, making her the guinea pig of his experiment, operating on her over thirty times in a span of five years without anesthesia, usually history is a lie, its written and tell in a way that benefits someone specific but its those who live it holding the truth, this girl most likely was force to this operations all for a Dr to experiment and learn from her. Now days this is illegal but still happens, there are parts of the earth where the sun don't shine and its all darkness, Silas was against Marion and Elliot way of thinking and operate, he will enjoy exposing Elliot's experiment.
After last episode the Mantel Twins are back together, Beverly was about to move away and had all kind of plans with her girlfriend Genevieve specially now that Beverly is pregnant but Elliot could not allow this, she is in love with her own sister and cant let her go so she revel to Genevieve how she got her for Beverly, that first day at the bar she was not kissing Beverly she was kissing Elliot, obviously that infuriate her because she ask them both if something like that have never happen with her and both Mantel said no, the most obvious thing happen the Twins are together again, sadly for Elliot not for long.
The Mantel Twins and Silas arrive to Susan's parents house, this scene was hilarious for me, seen two pairs of twins and btw Florence on the left is expecting to give birth quadruplets, the man on the right Marion, just look at his smile he looks like a twisted mind person, as I mention in the intro he openly describe some of his experiences with patients as experiments, his wife left him and no body give details on that, I think he actually experiment on her so they could have twins although they said Marion and even his mother were twins, that's just me speculating none the less we don't know the real reason his wife left him.
At dinner Silas kept debating the safety, legality and morally right of the Twins procedures at the birthing center, he was hired by Rebecca to right an article to idolize the Mantel Twins work but he was very direct and open with his opinion and this is a moment were Beverly use that phrase she loves "pregnancy is not a disease" , Silas answer "Oh I'm going to fuck all of you so bad and make you eat those words" ...between the lines.
This one a very uncomfortable dinner for Beverly and Silas, Marion kept saying how back in the day it was experimenting with patients constantly, learning new things every day and sadly it was true, anesthesia was first used in 1946 for a medical procedure so before that it was all butchery some times and Drs like Marion love it, he sees things different, he thinks science first and then the patients, he knows Elliot does too and Beverly doesn't, on this very first scene he talks about how he didn't had the opportunity to experiment more often because lack of patients and use this expression "make do with um hmmm" is he referring to his wife? or daughters?
Beverly leaves Elliot, this time is suppose to be for good and wants to get back with Genevieve, things really move fast for the twins, at the beginning of the episode she loved Elliot and at the end leaves her, all that talking with Marion made Elliot cocky and lead her to get curious with Florence after all four baby were born but the cherry on top was that Elliot brought to the world a twenty four week baby that no body knows she grew for four weeks before artificially get it into the mother body, when they were talking about it at dinner Marion open Beverly eyes when he said "She sees it like that....you don't" referring to Elliot plus Elliot kept lying about it so Beverly only sniff the truth and decided to leave.
Just when they thought everything was great because Beverly is pregnant, their dreams came true and now opening their second birthing center, this episode turn out to be a shit storm for the twins and when I thought it was over, the old woman Elliot bush over the balcony was not an hallucination, she was real only that in her way down she fall into the building gutter and didn't fall, that's why Elliot never found the body and thought it was not real.
I loved Dead Ringers : Episode 5 because for the first time someone said things as they are, Marion told to the twins how they are making progress in science, experimenting and improving, he knows Elliot is pushing farther than what the laws aloud and how Beverly didn't want to acknowledge the cruel truth, also the first person to call them out is introduce, I'm talking about Silas, he will be a stone on their shoes when he starts to publish articles about the truth of the Mantel Twins procedures, both Marion and Silas change Beverly opinion about Elliot and their job so far, probably open her eyes and that's why she left Elliot.
I didn't finish watching the Walking Dead and I have been planning on retake it but from the start, same as its parallel series Fear The Walking Dead, I remember those times, those were great times for Tv Series and everyone was into it for many months just waiting for the next episode to air but I have to say it is one of those series that can make you feel sad for everything that the characters go through, The Walking Dead - Dead City is more of an action series, even without knowing the end of the original series it doesn't surprise me that she make it alive, after all she went through but the real twist is that now she have to work with the man who savagely killed the man she loved, Negan smash Glenn head with his bat in front of her and now she is asking for his help to rescue her child from a man who use to work for Negan, The Croat.
Zombies on this series are more like an accessory, yes there are still a lot to kill but they are not the main issue, although are a great problem considering Maggie and Negan went to the place with the most dense Zombie population, Manhattan was one of the epicenter of the Zombie Apocalypse there for there are millions of them on a small place, they still slow and weak, humans have develop a kind of of rope system that helps them travel from one building to another without touching ground so you can say the ground is dominated by the Zombies and humans travel through roof tops, society is also emerging again with new states or populations with Marshalls who enforce their laws, Negan is a wanted man and it seems this Marshalls wont stop until they get him so we have the zombies, the marshals and the Croat going after Negan and Maggie while they try to get her son back
I'm not sure how long this series will be in terms of how many seasons, but it already has a 7.9 rating on IMDB and would help to last for a few good seasons. It has to do a lot with its predecessor series that ended last year. The Walking Dead was a great series with a lot of fans that will follow any sequel as long as it is at least half as good as the original series, some of this actors made a decade out of Walking Dead and some keep pushing, you definitely have to be very talented to stay relevant for so long, the past two months after The Last of Us and Mandalorian season ended there was nothing exciting to watch but now Tv series are starting to pile up, great things coming up.
The first episode starts with Maggie tracking down first her son who got kidnap and then Negan but not necessary for pay back, Maggie is on a very desperate situation and got now choice but to ask for the help of the man who killed the man she loved very much, she is looking for him to ask for his help but on a world with a vast population of Zombies and humans trying to bounce back as a society no body likes outsiders sniffing around the place, Maggie gets to a motel's bar to have a few drinks with the excuse she got robbed at her place and the bar tender tells her there is a guy at who lives at the motel who can help her, Maggie already knows who is he talking about, its Negan and she came for him but a local gal put her eye on her and caught Maggie at Negan's room, but this woman is confuse she thinks Maggie came in behalf of some one else so they pin her down on a table and try to cut her face as a message, Maggie is a though fighter and after many years running away from Zombies and Negan she learn very well how to fight so she fuck them up and start chasing Negan who ran away with a little girl after he finds out Maggie is after him.
Maggie gets Negan down the road after chasing him, they are not friends, for now, and Negan thinks she wants pay back but he has no fear for her. They sit down and talk about the real reason why she is looking for him, few weeks back her place was raided, those who assault her took all her food and said will come back a few months latter for more but as collateral to make sure Maggie gets more food and resource for them they took her son Hershel, Negan is an old fox who wrote the book of how to extort people during Zombie Apocalypse so he quickly finds out the real reason why she is looking for him, the raiders took her kid and the guy who did it probably has something to do with him, a blast form the past. Negan agrees to help Maggie but only if she takes Ginny, the girl he is now protecting, to her place at the Hill Top where she will be protected, feed and go to school.
This Marshalls from New Babylon, a new independent state that is trying to build up society again and have put this men in charge to enforce their laws, they are no joke, they know how to track down guys, are well train and are good shooters. They are looking for Negan for murdering a magistrate and a few more, they don't want to put him in jail, they looking to execute him but when the Marshall show up and start telling his part of the story something doesn't match because he said Negan has build an empire like he still roles with his old crew but he is now alone, no a threat anymore to any large group of people. The same woman who had Maggie pin down to the table at the bar was questioned by the Marshall until she gave up and rat out Negan, to make an example out of her the Marshall throw her to a group of Zombies outside of the motel's fence while the rest of the people was looking.
Maggie and Negan got to a boat to cross the Hudson and land on Manhattan but right at that moment Marshalls arrive, a young one tries to sneak on them and Maggie got him, she brings him with them as insurance, not that she cares what happens to Negan but for now she needs him, been Negan he wants to throw him to the river as he will latter on become a liability, I don't think this guy has a very long life with them but she refuse to kill him and its here where Negan starts to preach truth and let her know its just survival and he is one of the best at doing it not because he is a bad guy but because he does what ever he needs to do to survive and keep those with him alive while Maggie is still thinking about good and bad guys, Negan has a wider way of thinking and how to navigate the world they living in to stay alive.
I don't remember see The Walking Dead develop inside a city with tall buildings and for sure not inside an island, in the case of this scene Walkers heard Jano, the Marshall apprentice fall and since there are Walkers everywhere there are Walkers on the roof top so they start falling like its raining Walkers, we also see the water infested with floating Walkers and I'm sure there must be those that have sink for some reason wondering at the bottom.
This is the main villain of the story so far, The Croat, as describe by Negan one of the most crazy psycho that use to work with him back in the day, it seems that he now runs Manhattan with a new crew with similar practices to what he use to do back in the day when he was part of Negan's crew, he loves torturing people and play mind games, on this scene he let a guy escape but only to cut the rope he use to slide from one building to another and see him fall from twenty floors, after seen the guy fall and scream, The Croat just laugh and said that has to be a new record, he does have Hershel and is still alive, if The Croat is anything or worst than Negan this is going to be a very interesting story because it wont be easy to surprise him.
I'm loving this series, it puts a smile on my face on every episode, either excitement for all the action or Negan dark humor, having characters like Negan and Maggie as main really keeps the original series alive with now another battle field, a big city with tall buildings infested with walkers and with a similar threat like Negan was, audience support so far has been great with 82% on RTT and 7.9 on IMDB, at the moment of writing this post I have seen two episodes and the next episodes keeps reveling who Negan is, there is a lot I ignore about the original series as I never finish watch it but its also great they bring this part of him for new viewers to get interested and probably go and watch the original series, bring questions like "Was this guy so bad?" besides Maggie cant stop having flash backs from when he smash Glenn skull with his bat, that episode I saw and remember how cruel was it, there were moments that I close my eyes and cringe. I have to watch The Walking Dead again and Fear The Walking Dead too, this are two series that are as good as The Godfather or Braking Bad and it is still relevant, I'm not a comic guy but there is a Walking Dead universe that for sure will pump out more Tv series.
Barbie (Margot Robbie) leads a perfect life full of fantasy where everything is a party, walks and happiness until one day she begins to reflect on death feeling confusion, as it does not fit in her world, she went from walking on tiptoes to have her feet on the ground having to travel to the real world.
To be honest I did not plan to see this movie, but I got carried away by all the marketing to the point of going with my aunt and a friend and it was a good decision, I enjoyed more than I thought, I left the movie theater reflecting as the same Margot Robbie who is in charge of starring Barbie a stereotypical doll that does not have a prominent role as a profession or a different quality simply is Barbie, the blue-eyed blonde who represents the main image of Mattel companies.
Argument | Argumento
At the beginning of the movie they show a pregnant Barbie that Mattel discontinued arguing that having a pregnant doll is quite rare, coincidentally this was my last Barbie that brought me the baby Jesus who is the Venezuelan version of Santa Claus, this pregnant Barbie did not come alone, she was accompanied by her husband Ken and her two little children to this family Mattel called the heart family, this was the last version of Barbie I ordered as a gift, a year later I was not interested in the plastic ken but those of flesh and blood of real life. Apart from the heart family I had Barbie's convertible car, thank goodness I had it as a toy, nowadays I don't even have a bicycle.
The first scene I identified with was the flat feet scene, how awful! Barbie does not stand on her tiptoes and can not wear heels, walking with flat feet is a disgrace, well maybe I'm being a little exaggerated, but in my world having flat feet was a trauma, at 3 years old I was taken to an orthopedist who sent me to have some horrible and heavy boots made, I found them uncomfortable and I was supposed to wear them for many years throughout my childhood, but that didn't happen, I convinced my mom not to wear them and as I was spoiled that's how it happened, today I have flat feet and I can't wear the dreamed high heels that Barbies wear without feeling tired.
There are all kinds of Barbies in the movie, when some of them don't look so pretty it's because they are out of shape and go to the weird Barbie, the one that can split and has short hair with a rebellious and carefree look, I turned many of my dolls into this type and my brother who was my heir to all the dolls cut their hair and then pulled their heads off, It is inevitable not to feel identified at some point with this story, now in my forties I am the Barbie weirdo who is exercising to achieve the split that I did not achieve in my teens, you can imagine the laughter I let out when I saw myself in the movie.
As everything has to fit, the home of the weird Barbie is not pink, like the barbiecore trend, this house is decorated with psychedelic colors, a bizarre house and has a pet, an ill-mannered dog that does its needs anywhere, (just like Duke my dog). Everything happens because a portal was opened between the pink world and real life, that's why Barbie starts to get cellulite.
Barbie doesn't know how to worry about anything, for her, life is perfect and she can live in her pink world being happy forever, all the magic of a glamorous life ends when she starts to think about death, what is death? Because we have to die, to see life differently is painful, the awakening of consciousness hurts even in fiction with a plastic body, that is what gives way to the transition from the world of Barbieland to the real world.
That new world to which Barbie traveled is very different from hers, it is a world dominated by a male force, the co-protagonist Ken is an accessory of Barbie and what he does is annoying, the truth is that he is not even useful for the stereotypical Barbie to get pregnant, he is not even useful as a companion, but if he is a nice accessory can not be denied.
The reason why Barbie had to go to the real world to repair the portal is because the current girls suffer a transformation from girl to woman and stop playing with them, this movie was a great marketing strategy seeking to rescue teenagers and even adult women among their customers.
The humor and drama was present from the beginning, as they make a criticism about the influence of this doll in the world, representing everything that is wrong with our culture, making girls grow up with a fictitious ideal of beauty, destroying their self-esteem and sexualizing their image in turn in a very strategic way the figure of Barbie or what she represents in Mattel defends its intention claiming that its purpose is to support girls making them happy and feel powerful capable of being whoever they want to be, that is why in recent years they have diversified the stereotypical Barbie with many roles ranging from a president to be an astronaut.
Barbieland, which is the world of Barbie dominated and organized by women, goes into crisis when Ken discovers that in the real world the male figure has more power occupying important positions, excited by everything he discovers he decides to change to Barbieland while our protagonist is trying to solve the problem of the open portal fighting with her cellulite, Ken takes over the world of Barbie causing a government crisis that leads them to war, it is curious that I had never seen the causes of a war in terms of gender.
Mattel is shown as a cruel company that does not understand well what women want and prefer to have them locked inside a box, (this is a wake-up call to society) that was my perception when I put myself in Barbie's shoes. The terrible transformation of Ken from a kind, understanding and loving companion gave me a lot of laughter, now he was an egocentric, macho and empty-headed guy who has destroyed the harmony and perfection of Barbieland.
In short, we women can support each other and get out of our existential crises when we get together to express our emotions, we say kind words to each other, like that we do well and that we do not have to be perfect, we just have to love what we do and be free without letting them dominate us, demand respect and equity, the film sought to pay tribute to the woman who is capable of anything, each one will identify with her story without victimizing herself, understanding that life is full of ups and downs.
In the end ken received what he wanted to be recognized by Barbie and he achieved it, the protagonist Barbie transcended after experiencing her world and the real world what was left was to wake up, a very good philosophical ending that gave a special closure to all the magic behind the dreams of girls and boys, to turn an idea into something real you just have to want it to happen.
🎥 Throughout the whole movie I felt like I was bombarded with subliminal messages, for example having a black woman as president of a country, well I guess where Mattel's world is located, it will be a little political campaign for the former first lady of the USA Michelle Obama, I would vote for her, she is a beautiful and smart Barbie.
🎥 There is one thing that we women have not been able to conquer as men have in terms of numbers and that is space, there are many astronauts who have not gone beyond the space centers, we have not stepped on the moon and that is something that clearly supports the movie.
🎥 To be a Barbie doll is not to exist, if we take the measurements of the body of a Barbie to real scale could not live, since this body would be so thin in the abdomen area that there would be no room for organs, so we have been deceived with an unreal silhouette being this the argument of the detractors.
🎥 Contrary to what you might believe this movie is not for children under 13 years old, it is classified for teenagers and adults for having a suggestive and aggressive language, so I say that what the company Mattel wants is to vindicate its image with potential customers, in the end adults are the ones who buy the toys.
🎥 All the scenography was very beautiful and important in the film. I would like to find a development like Barbieland.
🎥 It is a good movie that showed how women feel today, leaving clear messages and key words.
I deserve it
I can be what I want to be

If you haven’t moved on from the trope of XO, Kitty, Love in Taipei, released this month offers a similar coming of age story. As the title mentioned, this one's about an American-Taiwanese who travels halfway across the world in order to learn about her heritage. This film is based on a novel title Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hin Weng and in the film, it’s mentioned why it’s called a loveboat. Unfortunately, unlike XO, kitty and Crazy Rich Asian, I have to say upfront that I was expecting more of Taiwan and especially featuring more of its cultural spots. But it’s quite forgivable that at least, they feature the vibrant street market of Taiwan which is famous for its street snacks. Anyhow, without further adieu, let me show you a sneak peak and reasons why you should check this one out, for better or worse.
Ever Wong (Ashley Liao) is an introverted and quiet girl who grew up in Ohio and in a white majority neighborhood. After her graduation, her parents gave her a ticket to a summer programme of cultural immersion in Taipei before she’s going to attend medical school. On the way to the campus of the summer programme, she meets Sophie Ha (Chelsea Zhang), a partygoer and somewhat an ABG (asian baby girl) who is quite a contrast to Ever. While they were talking, Ever noticed a guy who has been the “bane of her existence” Rick Woo(Ross Butler).
Rick was the idol of her mom, the perfect child who is not only a genius but also good with sport. Ever’s mom was constantly comparing him to her which made her nicknamed him, “The wonder boy”. They eventually bumped into each other while taking their suitcase from the bus and Sophie, who is a cousin to Rick introduced them both. While Ever was still trying to get adjusted, on the way to their room, Ever and Sophie meet Xavier Yeh (Nico Hiraga) who was running from the staff after hooking up with a girl.
Long story short, Ever learned that the summer course was not what she thinks it was. The course is a place for mostly mixed taiwanese children to either party, make friends, or find the love of their life. As Ever makes friends with others, she sneaks in from the place and eventually meets her Aunt, who told her that she should pursue her dream to become a dancer instead of following her father's footsteps to become a doctor. In the camp, Ever has a secret admirer who constantly sends her a sketch of her. At the same time, Ever and Rick become a lot closer and eventually invite Ever to his parent’s party but Rick lied about Ever’s family who was less wealthy and accomplished compared to Rick’s and Sophie’s. That hurts Ever and while she was running away from the party, She meets Xavier who was also dumped by Sophie.
From that moment, she recognizes that Xavier is the secret admirer. Apparently that night there was heavy rain and a typhoon struck the city. The next day, Ever discovered that her aunt’s place was devastated by the Typhoon and after going back to the camp, she told Xavier of what happened and eventually worked together to help her aunt. The summer camp students hold the final festival at the place with Ever, and she has to finally decide who she will choose, forgiving Rick or starting something new with Xavier.
I have to say that I was again expecting quite a lot but unfortunately, there were some aspects that were entirely a let down. First, I thought it was going to be a lot more like the novel, second, just the lack of Taiwanese cultural spots despite being a cultural program and I feel like the focus was more to Ever and the romance. Third, I just can’t sympathize with Xavier or Rick. Though I do appreciate that the male lead was given a much more complex personality where it’s not white and black but rather gray. The movie was quite too fast paced that even the scenes where they show the market were too fast. It's like I, as a viewer , want to enjoy the scene of the Taiwanese street market but it was just a brief seconds of scenes. If we’re comparing Xo, Kitty, at least that one still has an atmospheric busy life in Seoul and same with Crazy Rich Asian where it features a lot more spots despite mostly being a socialite destination. Perhaps, one of the reasons you want to watch this is if you’re still missing the common trope from XO, kitty. I have to give this a solid 5 out of 10 as if they ever released another franchise, I hope it’s going to be a lot better than this one.

¡Hola amigos!
Hello friends! I'm here again today to talk about a movie that was recently released on the Prime Video platform: Red, White & Royal Blue.
This movie is based on a book of the same name by author Casey McQuiston. I did not read the book, although I know that it has a good acceptance by readers of juvenile books. That is why this movie was highly anticipated by them. I was also curious to see it, and let me tell you that I was not disappointed at all.
Can you imagine a romance between the prince of Great Britain and the son of the president of the United States? Well, that's what happens here. But that's not how the story starts.
Prince Henry and Alex did not hit it off the first time they met, but on the contrary, it caused a misunderstanding between them, and now they seem to dislike each other. But with the U.S. election just around the corner, the president and Alex's mother, needs to have a good relationship with British officials and the British crown. So Alex is asked to go to London to smooth things over with Henry.
Now the two of them will have to pretend to be good friends in order to dispel the rumors that have been circulating about their enmity. However, the forced closeness will make them start to really get to know each other and Alex will discover that Henry is not the person he thought he was, while at the same time he will have an inner journey as he rediscovers things about himself that he didn't know.
An ocean in between, text messages at any time and recurring visits end up uniting their destinies. Soon they will realize that the hatred they felt was actually mutual attraction, but with the responsibility and the weight of being part of the royalty and the presidential elections in which Alex is very involved, it will be difficult for them to live their love freely.
The movie won me over from the very first moment, as you can see a funny moment between the two boys and that ended up sealing my decision to continue watching it. I'm pretty sure that this production will have pissed off more than one conservative of good manners and morals. And if that's the case, I love it.
The chemistry between the two actors was incredible, they managed to play their roles very well. I was hooked on this pair and their romantic story. I may have my favorite guy, but they were both great. Besides their gay romance, I liked that cultural mix they did in the movie, since Alex despite being the son of a president and having as many luxuries as Henry, was not always like that. Alex's father is an immigrant who had to struggle in a foreign country, so you can see that Latino blood in the brunet. There are also several moments where some characters dialogue in Spanish, although those parts felt a bit forced.
On the other hand, the whole royalty theme struck me as a parody of the British crown. It is absurd to imagine that they had those reactions or attitudes, or that Prince Henry (it is worth clarifying that he will not inherit the throne but his older brother) had the freedom to walk around places as if nothing. He is supposed to have custody, but at some points I didn't notice his presence. I also found interesting certain dialogues that make me reflect on the sense that at this point there are still reigns and monarchies. It's something I share because I don't understand it either, I guess it's a vestige of history that doesn't want to be lost, but in my opinion it would be.
But what stands out most in this film is the romance between these two characters and the obstacles they had to go through. I liked it because I could believe that love. I was completely absorbed in the two hours of this production and I enjoyed it very much. Alex is a very charismatic character and brought several funny moments to the plot. Secretly, that character along with his actor stole the movie.
There is a big moment at the end that I wish they had focused more on because it would have been good for the inclusive message and support for the LGBT community that they wanted to convey. But, beyond this, I thought it was a good production. Well set and, of course, well musicalized.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.
See you next time!

Until recently I had lost the habit of watching series and films. It's an activity that happens to me in the same way as reading books: I do it seasonally, only when I get hooked on a title that really touches me and switches on the spark of emotion.
That's what happened to me when the series I'm reviewing here began to be broadcast on national television: Better Days. The first two episodes left me wanting more, so I did some research and soon discovered that it was available on Amazon Prime Video. The best thing is... Surprise! The series has a second season and I haven't even started it yet. So, in this post I will exclusively refer to the 10 chapters that make up season one.
The plot revolves around four people attending bereavement counselling. In addition to the psychologist, they all share the fact that they have recently lost their respective partners. Unresolved conflicts in life are mixed with feelings of guilt, the inability to manage the new life situation and the fear of not knowing how to move on.
The psychologist is Soledad (Blanca Portillo), who conducts the sessions in her living room. Her style is direct and sarcastic, which at certain moments brings laughs that detract from the drama of the scenes. However, she is the first one who has to heal the wounds inside herself, which I won't explain so as not to be a spoiler.
The next protagonist is Sara (Marta Hazas), an emergency doctor whose husband died of sudden death while playing a football match. She and her son watched the scene from the stands and, despite efforts to revive him, Sara was unable to save him.
The female trio closes with Graci (Alba Planas). She is a young woman who lives in Madrid with a couple of friends and far from her parents' village. Her boyfriend died of leukaemia. When she found out he had cancer, she froze sperm and Graci promised her that she would use it to become a mother if the fatal outcome occurred.
On the other hand we have Enrique, although he is called by his surname, Pardo (Erick Elias), singer of a Mexican rock band who has not matured, but who left Spain leaving behind two children and their mother, limiting himself to sending money for their support, but who never acted as a father to them. When his mother dies in an accident, he finds himself with two teenagers who reject him.
The group is completed by Luis (Francesc Orellá), a successful businessman who has lost his wife and now does not know how to take care of his three daughters or his own life. He turns to alcohol to calm his feelings of guilt.
The sessions take place and are the excuse to show the stories of each character, both present and past. Little by little, a group is formed in which the situations of some are of help to others, and their lives become intertwined outside the place of their meetings.
As for the performances, Blanca Portillo's work stands out on its own merits. She is a fabulous actress who has received numerous awards, all of them deserved. She fits well in both comic and dramatic roles, so in this series she shines in all registers.
As for Marta Hazas and Francesc Orellá, I can say that they deliver what they promise. They are actors who are quite typecast, I have enjoyed them in other series and their performances are credible, but little more than that. On the other hand, Erick Elías and Alba Planas were unknown to me and my opinion is that they live up to the previous ones, which I think is a good merit.
Despite the fact that the central plot is a tough and emotional subject, death is treated with delicacy and respect. There is no unnecessary drama or exaggeration, although you will need your tissues in every episode. I liked it a lot because it portrays situations that we have been through or will have to go through in the future, without sugar-coating them and in a believable way.
As well as having some comedy points that make the drama bearable, the message of hope that the series provides is that the living, those who remain, must carry on for them and for those who are still here. That's comforting and makes you end up smiling through the tears, which is appreciated and serves as a release. In short, I recommend it.
To convince you to see it, here is the official trailer:

Christmas with the Campbells is a romcom Christmas themed movie starring Brittany Snow, Justin Long and Alex Moffat. It was released back in 2022 with the setting mainly in Ketchum Idaho. This is unlike romcom Christmas comedy that’s family friendly, the script in this movie is definitely 18+ and it was such a raunchy and clever writing especially the lines for Alex Moffat. Without further adieu, let me tell you what this movie is all about.
Jesse (Brittany Snow) was dumped by her long time boyfriend Shawn ( Alex Moffat) citing differences between the two. Nearing the Christmast and with nowhere to go, Shaw’s family, especially his mother, encouraged her to travel to Ketchum and spend the Christmas with them while Shaw was flying to New York for another job interview. Arriving in Ketchum, a small town in Idaho, the situation gets awkward as every person in town knows that Shawn and Jesse are no longer together yet Jesse is spending time with the Campbells. But things take a fresh turn when Campbell's nephew is visiting town, David (Justin Long) who is quite the opposite of Shawn. David was more of an outdoor person while Shawn was scummy, into monopoly and has quite a perverted side in him. David was a much more sound and responsible man. Jesse and David shared a lot more similar interests and they were bonding over it. As time passes, they both seemed like they were falling in love until Shawn, not knowing Jesse was in the house, comes back and wants to settle down and reconcile with Jesse. Who will Jesse choose?
Other than its stunning views of Idaho, this movie deserves your time because of its funny lines and great acting from Brittany Snow. It feels so natural and exudes warmth of Christmas. It is also not your regular Christmas themed movie so, make sure not to watch it with children around. Alex Moffat in this film successfully annoyed me and convinced me that he was a jerk. I mean, in my dictionary it’s 6 out of 7 just and it’s worth your time!

Contest #75 of the CineTV community where we must expose or make a review about the movies or anime series that we consider as favorites; this is a topic that I consider that I can write a lot, but I always try to focus either on a movie or a single TV series and this time I will refer to the movie based on a super famous anime, a production that surprised me for its animation and action scenes.
Possibly, "Dragon Ball" is one of those anime that has a large number of films that of course have a large number of villains that are not considered as canon, but still have created a large fan base and just one of those villains is "Broly", a Saiyajin who is extremely powerful, equal or more than Goku and Vegeta; so much so that throughout the history of this anime has accompanied the mighty heroes being an antagonist in three films, two of those films represented in the stage of Dragon Ball Z and a last one, where for the first time this character is canon and I refer to what I consider the best film of this anime, "Dragon Ball Super: Broly".
To participate in this contest I make a brief review of this film that was released in 2018 and that apart from being a new version between the confrontation of these powerful characters, the reality is that it works primarily as a reinvestment of Broly and can be considered as an extension to the origin of this story where the lives of both Goku, Vegeta, Freezer and now Broly are very united; that seemed ideal to me because it deepens in what Broly is, a character that is treated as if he was seen for the first time and for the moments it is something right because this version gives us the opportunity to see a future antagonist or a powerful ally.
I liked this movie because of the animation, I remember from the moment it started its promotion, I thought it was great the mobility so natural of Goku and more to know that he would face a new version of Broly and my expectations were met in the many fights that are observed in that movie, especially the confrontation between Goku, Vegeta, Freezer and Broly; the time in battle between each one is exciting, it is unique and that is a great positive point of this film; nothing is repetitive and everything feels new, current, the images of the fights are epic, exaggerated, colorful, the power that the characters use are impressive.
Another aspect that I consider very important is the story, as I said before, it is a good complement to the origin story of the Saiyajin of this anime, it is about descent, honor and a characteristic of these warrior aliens, pride; that is precisely what drives such good battles, that desire to fight, to show who is the strongest is what originates such good battles. There is an important element in the story and it refers to parenthood, I mean the sacrifices or the relationship between parents and children; for example Bardock and Gine, Goku's parents, decide to give a better life to their son whom they consider weak; on the other hand, King Vegeta makes a strong decision to do everything possible to keep his lineage in power and the father and son sacrificed for that to be maintained, grow up with resentment and ignorance; these are aspects that may go unnoticed, but are very well developed in this film.
"Dragon Ball Super: Broly" in my opinion was a great film, a great closure for an excellent animation style and to make a better story within this franchise; this story is mature, is well planned, both in story, action scenes and of course, the animation; is a complete 10 and I have more appreciation after seeing the last film based on this anime, where both the story and animation was not good at all, I do not like this current use of 3D animation because in my opinion limits the classic combat movements in this anime, which does not happen in this movie. I was glad to retake this contest with this theme this week, it made me watch again this great film and if you want to participate, then I leave you the link to join and you can opt for very good prizes CineTV Contest #75.

Original Spanish productions from Netflix must be the ones I have seen the least from that streaming service; I know they have series with a good fan base like for example "La Casa de Papel" and "Élite", but I never felt attracted to watch them; something that did happen with for example the 2020 film called "Orígenes Secretos", a thriller with influences from "Seven" and comics, a pleasant surprise that unfortunately went unnoticed and named that particular film because it was the aforementioned characteristics that motivated me and precisely in this new film is present a genre that I consider one of my favorites, the Slasher; that made me think that possibly I can again enjoy a Netflix original Spanish production.
The new Netflix movie "Killer Book Club" tells the story of "Angela", a college girl who studies to be a writer, that is her great dream since she wrote a novel that was a sensation on the web when she was very young, but since then she suffers from a blockage that does not make her repeat her great success; At present she has a relationship with "Nando", a bartender at a nightclub near the campus, they and other friends form a book club that for different reasons one night decide to make a joke on one of their teachers, a joke that will not go well creating disjunctive between them and is that a character, a "Clown" will become the great writer of the fate of this group of friends, as it will narrate in different episodes the deaths of each one; This will make the distrust between them grow and even more when they do not know who will be the next protagonist or who is the murderer.
It is no secret that the horror genre is the one that respects the clichés in that kind of stories, possibly the Slashers, are the ones that even more faithfully comply with the rules of that style of films; I think we all learned it with the film of Wes Craven, I mean "SCREAM" (1996); in this film directed by Carlos Alonso-Ojea, who with this film I can say that he makes his debut in a feature film; the influence of Craven in some shots is very evident, he uses a lot the atmosphere of the campus where it seems that nothing can happen until it happens and in this kind of movies it is just that everything is right for the appearance of the killer, the chase and of course, the deaths; the problem of the work of this director is that the suspense scenes, there is no suspense, no terror and very little imagination, something fatal in this kind of films.
This movie is based on a novel of the same name, written by Carlos García Miranda, who also wrote the script for this production; as I made notion in the previous paragraph, this movie is very influenced by "SCREAM" and I don't mean in the way of recreating several scenes; the biggest influence is in the script, in the version of this story created by García Miranda. "SCREAM" is considered one of the best made "Meta Films"; possibly the references to other movies, the whole issue of the rules, the behaviors of the victims and killer is what surely attracted a large fan base of that franchise and I think this Spanish screenwriter and novelist belongs to that group of fans, but that influence was noticed as a copy and in my opinion, that's not good; surely the development of certain events in the novel had a better development than in the film and for that reason, in this opportunity he decides to make certain changes to fit everything in a production of an hour and a half of duration, but it should not be an excuse to copy literally several aspects and characteristics of the above mentioned film and I can even mention the resemblance in some scenes to "I Know What You Did Last Summer"; that lack of originality subtracted a lot to this film.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997).
The performances are regular to bad; one of the clichés, important in this style of film is about the role of the characters and in this opportunity, there are few who fulfill that role, I can mention the characters of "Sara" and "Rai", played by Ane Rot and Carlos Alcaide, I won't say that they are my favorite characters (I don't have them in this film), but they fulfill the role of those characters who believe that nothing can hurt them, who have a tough, protective attitude; I return to the theme of the influence of other films in this production and in my opinion, "Sara" is very similar to "Tatum" from SCREAM (1996) and "Rai" to "Barry Cox" from I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). The worst performance and the worst character is that of Veki Velilla, who plays "Angela"; I think she is one of the worst Final Girls I have seen in a long time, she is not brave, she is not smart, she is not strong, she is not determined, she is the opposite; she is vulnerable, boring, a character without evolution, with a bad development.
"Killer Book Club" is not a good film; possibly there are some features that I liked, such as shots of certain scenes that show influence to other films, the scenery and the way in which some of the deaths were told, but I have no doubt that it is the negative (in my opinion) that weighs on this production; although I liked what I thought was a tribute or influence to an important Slasher film, the reality is that copying so many elements of that film makes me think about the weakness of its script and that little originality shows little imagination of its screenwriter and even its director; I know that this genre is repetitive and unoriginal, but I think you can show differences in certain aspects and create your own brand and that does not exist in this film and I think (and hope) that it is difficult to have a sequel because I do not see a future in this production.
