New movies keep coming to the big screens and that shows that directors are still working on bringing out movies of different genres and thus making it to the top with such production. Recently a movie was released, which was a big surprise for everyone, since this director had already released a couple of previous movies and they were good, so seeing him once again in action was surely to see something good, since he has an excellent way of working, where he presents us with a delivery that many emotions are at stake and see a side of people who are very few, but those that exist are very dangerous, which can become an obsession and there is no way to get out of it.
This movie is known as Dangerous Animals, which from the beginning I let myself be carried away by all that and enjoy another shark movie, which is one of the main things of all that and in my case I like many even though they are always repetitive, however, here everything changes in a very strong way, as we will see a surfer girl, doing what she likes the most, when she is kidnapped and could be food for sharks, something that is totally strong and crazy in this life, which is something that leads us to wonder Can she escape, Why do they do that, who is behind all that? And many other things, for the very fact of playing with people's lives.
Nuevas películas siguen llegando a las grandes pantallas y eso demuestra que los directores siguen trabajando en sacar películas de distintos géneros y de esa manera lograr llegar a la cima con dicha producción. Hace poco se estrenó una película, la cual fue una gran sorpresa para todos, ya que este director ya había sacado un par de películas anteriores y fueron buenas, por eso verlo una vez más en acción seguramente era ver algo bueno, puesto que cuenta con una excelente manera de trabajar, donde nos presenta una entrega que están en juego muchas emociones y ver un lado de las personas que son muy pocas, pero las que existen son muy peligrosas, que puede llegar a convertirse en una obsesión y no hay manera de poder salir de eso.
Esta película es conocida como Animales peligroso, la cual desde un principio me dejé llevar por todo eso y disfrutar de otra película de tiburones, la cual es una de las cosas principales de todo eso y en mi caso me gustan muchos a pesar de que siempre son repetitivas, sin embargo, aquí todo cambia de una manera muy fuerte, ya que veremos a una chica surfista, haciendo lo que más le gusta, cuando es secuestrada y podría ser comida para los tiburones, algo que es totalmente fuerte y loco en esta vida, la cual es algo que nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Podrá escapar?, ¿Por qué hacen eso?, ¿Quién está detrás de todo eso? Y muchas otras cosas, por el mismo hecho de jugar con la vida de las personas.
It is a film that changes its rhythm and it is here where new emotions come out due to the fact that it is a risky situation, where desperation, anguish and fear come out when being with sharks, since they are dangerous animals and even more so when it can be their next meal. This is something totally new in a movie like this, which is admired that they can try new things, however, it gets out of hand, and everything changes to a horror movie, since the most dangerous animal is the same human being to kidnap people and use it as food, which are those kinds of people who are sick and just to feel happy to do such acts, while sharks eat for their instinct and that is normal and that is why it is a movie full of many surprises.
Es una película que va cambiando de ritmo y es aquí donde van saliendo nuevas emociones por el mismo hecho de ser una situación de riegos, donde sale la desesperación, la angustia y ese miedo al estar con tiburones, ya que son los animales peligrosos y más aún cuando puede ser su próxima comida. Esto es algo totalmente nuevo en una película cómo está, la cual se admira que pueden probar con cosas nuevas, sin embargo, se les escapa de las manos, ya todo cambia a una película de terrorífica, puesto que el animal más peligroso es el mismo ser humano al secuestrar personas y usarla como alimento, la cual son esas clases de personas que están enfermas y solo para sentirse contentos al hacer ese tipo de actos, mientras que los tiburones comen por su instinto y eso es algo normal y por eso es una película llena de muchas sorpresas.
All takes place in the same dinner, which is the sea where the loneliness and the amount of water around is very large, which creates more tension, since there will be no one who can rescue the kidnapped and this is where comes the good part of the film in showing that side of the protagonists to escape and get out alive in that situation, by the same fact every second there is very difficult. It is here where the beautiful Hassie Harrison enters, who has an incredible role being in that situation and next to a human being who is an animal, and really puts a great effort and being able to endure all that and to become the heroine of the film, while, on the other hand, there is the bad guy, which from the beginning shows certain characteristics that one is left thinking and turns out to be more dangerous than it appears.
Todo se desarrolla en una misma cena, la cual es el mar donde la soledad y la cantidad de agua alrededor es muy grande, la cual crea más tensión, ya que no habrá nadie que puede rescatar a los secuestrados y es aquí donde viene la parte buena de la película en mostrar ese lado de los protagonistas en poder escapar y salir con vida ante esa situación, por el mismo hecho cada segundo allí es muy difícil. Es aquí donde entra la bella Hassie Harrison, la cual tiene un papel increíble al estar en esa situación y al lado de un ser humano que es un animal, y de verdad que le coloca un gran empeño y poder aguantar todo eso y poder convertirse en la heroína de la película, mientras que, por otro lado, está el malo, la cual desde un principio muestra ciertas características que uno queda pensado y resulta ser más peligroso de lo que aparenta.
It was a result that left me speechless, as I thought it would be another of those shark movies and ended up being another horror story, blood, people with a horrible mentality and willing to cause harm to other people who have nothing to do with it, so it is a bet of the director quite interesting to recreate something different, but for me it is one of those movies that will surely go to the amount of films of this genre and wait for them to bring out a new production. I give it a 5/10. So folks, if you're looking for something to watch and spend a tense moment, don't pass this one up.
Fue un resultado que me dejó sin palabras, ya que pensé que sería otra de esas películas de tiburones y terminó siendo otra historia de terror, sangre, personas con una mentalidad horrible y dispuestos a causar daños a las demás personas que no tienen nada que ver con eso, por eso es una apuesta del director bastante interesante al poder recrear algo distinto, pero para mí es una de esas películas que seguro pasará al monto de películas de este género y esperar a que saquen una nueva producción. Le doy un 5/10. Así que amigos, si buscas algo para ver y pasar un momento de tensión, no dejes pasar esta.
Atlas del 2024 me pareció que fue puro ruido de Netflix, la cosa es que cuando se trata de ciencia ficción con robot y toda la inteligencia artificial pues uno siempre espera algo diferente y más si te ponen a Jennifer Lopez de protagonista porque no es exactamente conocida por este tipo de películas, pero bueno decidí ver qué tal le va a la cantante haciendo de analista que odia la tecnología en un futuro donde los robots ya están tratando de acabar con la humanidad, lo que debo admitir es que por lo menos me mantuvo pegado a la tele todo el tiempo sin hacerme revisar el celular cada cinco minutos. La premisa es bastante directa, hay un robot súper inteligente llamado Harlan interpretado por Simu Liu que se revela contra sus creadores, mata como a tres millones de personas y después se va corriendo a otra galaxia a planear cómo acabar con todos los humanos de la Tierra, después de casi treinta años aparece Atlas Shepherd que es JLo como una especialista en datos que conoce mejor que nadie a este robot asesino porque básicamente creció con él cuando era pequeña, resulta que fue la última persona que habló con la cosa esa antes de que se volviera loca y matara a su mamá junto con millones de otras personas, así que ahora ella es la única que puede ayudar a capturarlo. El problema es que Atlas odia completamente cualquier tipo de inteligencia artificial por razones obvias, pero cuando la misión sale mal termina atrapada en una especie de armadura que es como un robot super avanzado con otra IA llamado Smith que trata de ayudarla a sobrevivir en un planeta lleno de otros robots tratando de matarla, así que tiene que elegir entre morir sola o confiar en la misma tecnología que tanto desprecia para poder salir viva de esa situación imposible.
Si yo te cuento todo eso la verdad parece super interesante pero tiene unos cuantos detallitos, lo que si debo reconocer sobre Atlas es que visualmente está muy bien hecha, Netflix puso plata en los efectos especiales y se nota en las peleas con los robots, los trajes mecánicos lucen impresionantes y todo el ambiente futurista tiene ese aire profesional que hace que no se vea como slgo de bajo presupuesto, aunque tampoco es que sea algo revolucionario porque hemos ya esto se ha visto en mil películas antes, pero por lo menos aquí todo se ve creíble y no como esos efectos baratos que a veces usa Netflix. Jennifer Lopez hace lo que puede con el papel y aunque nunca va a ser Sigourney Weaver en Alien tampoco es un desastre completo, la mujer se esfuerza y tiene algunos momentos donde realmente conecta con el personaje como cuando está hablando con Smith y discutiendo sobre si puede o no confiar en él, esas conversaciones entre humano y máquina son casi que lo mejor de toda la película porque tienen algo de humor sin ser completamente estúpidas, además Smith tiene una personalidad bien definida que lo hace mas interesante que el típico robot sin emociones que normalmente vemos en este tipo de historias. Simu Liu también hace un buen trabajo como Harlan aunque su papel es relativamente pequeño, pero hace que se sienta esa amenaza calculadora de una inteligencia artificial que se cree superior a los humanos sin caer en el típico malo que grita todo el tiempo, su personaje tiene motivaciones claras y da a entenrde por qué piensa que la humanidad necesita ser eliminada uy esto lo hace mas creíble que muchos otros malos genéricos de ciencia ficcion.
Lo que tiene muchos problemas es el guion hay varias cosas que no tienen mucho sentido como que Harlan necesite códigos específicos de Atlas para hackear las defensas de la Tierra cuando es supuestamente tan inteligente que puede controlar flotas enteras de robots, también está el detalle de que los humanos decidieran mandar exactamente a la persona mas traumatizada por los robots en una misión para capturar al robot más peligroso del universo, eso es como mandar a alguien con fobia a las arañas a capturar una tarántula gigante mutante, simplemente no tiene sentido desde el punto de vista lógico. Las escenas de acción están bien aunque no son nada del otro mundo, cuando Atlas finalmente acepta sincronizarse completamente con Smith el traje de combate se vuelve bastante mas efectivo y las peleas contra los otros robots tienen momentos emocionantes, como esa batalla final donde tiene que luchar contra Harlan mientras trata de evitar que una bomba nuclear destruya la Tierra, aunque el final es un poco apresurado y conveniente con Smith sacrificándose para salvar a todos solo para aparecer de nuevo al final como si nada hubiera pasado. La relación entre Atlas y Smith es el centro de la peli ver como una persona que odia la tecnología aprende a confiar en un IA que solo quiere ayudarla funciona mejor de lo que esperaba, aunque a veces conversaciones entre ellos parece como si fuera una comedia romántica lo cual y es algo raro porque se supone que uno es una máquina, pero Gregory James Cohan le da una voz tan natural a Smith que casi te olvidas de que no es humano.
El tema de la inteligencia artificial es muy relevante en esta época donde ChatGPT y otras tecnologías están cambiando la forma en que trabajamos y vivimos, entonces ver una película donde la AI puede ser tanto salvadora como destructora es algo más cercano a cuando salieron las peliculasde Terminator hace veinte años. Lo que me parece chimbo es que Atlas no profundiza en lo que implica realmente eso de crear consciencias artificiales sino que se queda mas en el nivel superficial de robots buenos contra robots malos, lo cual está bien para una película de entretenimiento pero pierde la oportunidad de mostrar algo mas inteligente sobre nuestra relación con la tecnología. La dirección de Brad Peyton es buena, mantiene un ritmo decente y maneja bien las escenas tanto de acción como las mas íntimas entre Atlas y Smith, aunque se nota que está mas cómodo con las explosiones y las batallas que con los momentos emocionales, algunas escenas del pasado de Atlas son un poco forzadas y hay momentos donde el tono cambia demasiado rápido entre drama y comedia sin dar tiempo de entender lo que está pasando. Algunos de los efectos de sonido de los AI son algo genéricos como si los hubieran copiado de otras películas de ciencia ficcion, pero en general todo suena profesional y apropiado para el tipo de historia que están contando.
Atlas no va a cambiar el cine de ciencia ficcion pero bueno tampoco es tan mlala, es una película de Netflix hecha para ver en casa con cotufas un sábado por la noche cuando no tienes nada mas que hacer, los efectos están bien, las actuaciones son decentes y la historia aunque predecible mantiene tu atención mientras dura sin hacerte sentir que perdiste el tiempo completamente. Jennifer Lopez no va a ganar ningún premio por esta actuación pero tampoco es tan mala como la gente dice, hace su mejor esfuerzo con un personaje que no es fácil de interpretar y tiene química decente con la voz de Smith, Simu Liu también aprovecha bien su tiempo para crear a alguien malo que se sienta real. Los temas sobre confianza, trauma y la relación entre humanos y tecnología están ahí aunque no se desarrollan tan profundamente como podrían, creo que por esto y los errores del guion yo le doy un 6/10, si la vas a ver que sea en tu casa cuando no tengas nada que hacer porque no es de esas pelis que vas a recordar, slo funciona para desconectar el cerebro y disfrutar de robots peleando en el espacio.
Atlas of 2024 seemed to me to be pure Netflix noise, the thing is that when it comes to science fiction with robots and all the artificial intelligence you always expect something different and even more if they put Jennifer Lopez in the lead role because she is not exactly known for this kind of movies, but well I decided to see how the singer does playing an analyst who hates technology in a future where robots are already trying to wipe out humanity, what I must admit is that at least it kept me glued to the TV the whole time without making me check my cell phone every five minutes. The premise is pretty straightforward, there's a super intelligent robot named Harlan played by Simu Liu who rebels against his creators, kills like three million people and then runs off to another galaxy to plan how to wipe out all the humans on Earth, after almost thirty years Atlas Shepherd shows up who is JLo as a data specialist who knows this killer robot better than anyone because she basically grew up with it when she was little, turns out she was the last person to talk to the thing that before it went crazy and killed her mom along with millions of other people, so now she's the only one who can help capture it. The problem is that Atlas absolutely hates any kind of artificial intelligence for obvious reasons, but when the mission goes wrong she ends up trapped in some kind of armor that is like a super advanced robot with another AI named Smith that tries to help her survive on a planet full of other robots trying to kill her, so she has to choose between dying alone or relying on the very technology she despises so much to be able to get out of that impossible situation alive.
If I tell you all that the truth seems super interesting but has a few details, what I must recognize about Atlas is that visually is very well done, Netflix put money in the special effects and it shows in the fights with robots, the mechanical costumes look impressive and the whole futuristic atmosphere has that professional air that makes it not look like something low budget, although it is not something revolutionary because we have already seen this in a thousand movies before, but at least here everything looks credible and not like those cheap effects that sometimes Netflix uses. Jennifer Lopez does what she can with the role and although she is never going to be Sigourney Weaver in Alien she is not a complete disaster either, the woman tries her best and has some moments where she really connects with the character like when she is talking to Smith and arguing about whether or not she can trust him, those conversations between human and machine are almost the best of the whole movie because they have some humor without being completely stupid, plus Smith has a well defined personality that makes him more interesting than the typical emotionless robot we usually see in this kind of stories. Simu Liu also does a good job as Harlan although his role is relatively small, but he makes you feel that calculating threat of an artificial intelligence that believes it is superior to humans without falling into the typical bad guy who screams all the time, his character has clear motivations and gives entenenrde why he thinks humanity needs to be eliminated uy this makes him more believable than many other generic sci-fi bad guys.
What has a lot of problems is the script, there are several things that don't make much sense like Harlan needing specific Atlas codes to hack into Earth's defenses when he is supposedly so intelligent that he can control entire fleets of robots, there is also the detail that the humans decided to send exactly the person most traumatized by robots on a mission to capture the most dangerous robot in the universe, that's like sending someone with a phobia of spiders to capture a giant mutant tarantula, it just doesn't make sense from a logical point of view. The action scenes are okay though nothing earth-shattering, when Atlas finally agrees to fully synchronize with Smith the combat suit becomes quite a bit more effective and the fights against the other robots have exciting moments, like that final battle where he has to fight Harlan while trying to stop a nuclear bomb from destroying the Earth, though the ending is a bit rushed and convenient with Smith sacrificing himself to save everyone only to appear again at the end as if nothing had happened. The relationship between Atlas and Smith is the center of the movie seeing how a person who hates technology learns to trust an AI who just wants to help her works better than I expected, although at times conversations between them feels like it's a romantic comedy which and is kind of weird because one is supposed to be a machine, but Gregory James Cohan gives such a natural voice to Smith that you almost forget he's not human.
The theme of artificial intelligence is very relevant in this day and age where ChatGPT and other technologies are changing the way we work and live, so to see a movie where AI can be both savior and destroyer is something closer to when the Terminator movies came out twenty years ago. What I think is chimbo is that Atlas does not delve into what is really involved in creating artificial consciousness but stays more on the surface level of good robots against bad robots, which is fine for an entertainment movie but misses the opportunity to show something more intelligent about our relationship with technology. Brad Peyton's direction is good, he keeps a decent pace and handles both the action scenes and the more intimate scenes between Atlas and Smith well, although you can tell he is more comfortable with explosions and battles than with emotional moments, some scenes from Atlas' past are a bit forced and there are moments where the tone changes too quickly between drama and comedy without giving time to understand what is going on. Some of the AI sound effects are a bit generic as if they were copied from other sci-fi movies, but overall everything sounds professional and appropriate for the type of story they are telling.
Atlas isn't going to change sci-fi cinema but well it's not that mlala either, it's a Netflix movie made to watch at home with cotufas on a Saturday night when you have nothing else to do, the effects are okay, the performances are decent and the story although predictable keeps your attention for the duration without making you feel like you wasted your time completely. Jennifer Lopez isn't going to win any awards for this performance but she's not as bad as people say either, she does her best with a character that isn't easy to play and has decent chemistry with Smith's voice, Simu Liu also makes good use of her time to create someone bad that feels real. The themes of trust, trauma and the relationship between humans and technology are there although they are not developed as deeply as they could be, I think for this and the script mistakes I give it a 6/10, if you are going to watch it let it be at home when you have nothing to do because it is not one of those movies you are going to remember, it just works to disconnect the brain and enjoy robots fighting in space.
Hello friends, today is Sunday and as usual we all know that it is a day for reflection, relaxation and preparation. I went for morning mass early this morning and came back to have breakfast and to rest my brain.
However, as I was suffering through the internet I came across this recently released movie titled the home I decided to download it and watch what transpired in it because I saw from the brief summary that it is a psychological horror and a mystery trailer kind of movie, this triggered me and no doubt it was an interesting watch as it played around the mind of its audience before we could figure out what really happened.
Simply put, the movie titled "the home" is one that was written and directed by James the Monaco and casted by Pete Davidson, John clover, Mary Beth, Bruce Altman and so on. No doubt, the actors were brilliant at their jobs and made it a worthwhile movie.
The movie is all about a boy named Max who was adopted into a foster home at a younger age, the foster parents adopted a number of them and made it seem like they were the perfect caring parents anyone could ask for but they were the worse as they only adopt them to use them.
Max is a graffiti artist who trespasses by painting on people's walls about the ills of the society. Max was taken to court and was made to perform a community service at a government facility where old people are kept and taking care of. But on getting there, he discovers that it is not just a home for the elderly people but one that preys on young people by carrying out a devious act on their bodies just for their own benefits.
At first I didn't understand the situation but after watching for a while I figured it out that they retirement home was a fully funded government facility where they deceive young people to come work in the facility just to capture them and drain their youthfulness from them. Apparently, these elderly people are draining the nectar from The Young Ones eyes, hence keeping them Young and vibrant. When they suck up the nectar from their victims they become Young while the victims become old and frail.
You would not understand the entirety of the movie at the Beginning unless you focus and what till the very end.

There are numerous ways to establish that someone enjoys the status of a critics’ darling, but few are as spectacular as when one’s film is greeted with a standing ovation at the most prestigious festival despite the “minor” detail that the film isn’t even finished. Lynne Ramsay, the Scottish director whose filmography is modest in number but who nonetheless enjoys exceptional acclaim, achieved precisely this at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival with her thriller-drama You Were Never Really Here, which would only appear in its final version several months later.
The film is based on the eponymous novel by Jonathan Ames, the writer and screenwriter renowned as the creator of the TV series Bored to Death. The protagonist is Joe (Joaquin Phoenix), a hulking and intimidating figure who earns a living by undertaking detective work, and sometimes “muscle” tasks, involving the search for missing persons on the streets of New York and beyond. Joe has acquired a reputation for brutality in criminal circles, but in reality, he is averse to violence, as it is the source of deep trauma—both from his childhood, when he was a victim of familial abuse, and from his experiences as a soldier witnessing conflict in the Middle East. The only thing keeping him tethered to reality is his elderly, half-senile mother (Judith Roberts), whom he cares for with genuine devotion. His employer, John McCleary (John Doman), hires him for what may be the most delicate case of his career. Ambitious state senator Albert Votto’s teenage daughter, Nina (Ekaterina Samsonova), has run away from home and disappeared amid his election campaign preparations, with the only clue being an SMS containing the address of a brothel specialising in underage prostitution. Joe locates it and, in his characteristically brutal yet efficient manner, succeeds in swiftly rescuing Nina. Before he can deliver her to her father, however, it emerges that both Nina and the brothel are part of a far more complex scheme orchestrated by far bigger and politically connected “fish” than the lone senator, who are prepared to exploit corrupt police and security services to eliminate Joe and everyone associated with him in a brutally straightforward manner, forcing Joe to fight for his very survival.
Among the heaps of praise received by You Were Never Really Here, frequent are those who hail the film as the “Taxi Driver of the 21st century.” Although similarities to Martin Scorsese’s classic are certainly noticeable (including scenes that can be interpreted as homages), viewers will perceive far more differences. These primarily concern what many eulogists have often cited—that although it contains nominal elements of “commercial” genres such as thrillers or action—the film is an “art house” piece, and in the “purest” sense at that. Ramsay appears to have strived to avoid any compromise with “mainstream” cinema, placing on screen only what would be applauded at festivals. The style is, to put it mildly, “hermetic,” demanding far greater patience and understanding from audiences regarding unconventional framing techniques and cinematic narrative. Events in the film are depicted exclusively from the perspective of the protagonist, whose mental instability becomes apparent very quickly, causing the main plot to constantly intertwine with flashbacks, hallucinations, and the protagonist’s fantasies. This thoroughly confuses viewers, and without Phoenix’s brilliant performance in the complex role of the tormented protagonist, even the most patient audiences would have given up on You Were Never Really Here. Ramsay occasionally crafts a strong sequence, most notably Joe’s raid on the brothel, where scenes of violence are depicted indirectly and in a quasi-documentary style using video cameras. More thorough comparisons to Taxi Driver, however, will undoubtedly be to Lynne Ramsay’s detriment.
Unlike Scorsese’s film, which firmly anchors the story of a tormented veteran turned vigilante on New York’s mean streets within the economic, cultural, and political context of the “leaden” 1970s, Ramsay seems to strive to ignore the external world—that is, everything beyond Joe’s mind. This film lacks Herrmann’s brilliant score, the memorable supporting roles of Peter Boyle or Harvey Keitel, and the Russian-American model Ekaterina Samsonova still has considerable work to do before anyone places her in the same category as Jodie Foster. It is highly unlikely that this film will inspire anyone to attempt an assassination of the US president, but if such a hyped film was meant to surpass Taxi Driver, Ramsay needed to offer something far more substantial.

Esta película me dejó muy sorprendida Porque sinceramente yo esperaba una película de terror básica con sustos fáciles, pero a cambio me terminaron dando una película de terror psicológico y social bastante fuerte y muy bien llevada Eso sí en varios momentos puede ser bastante lenta pero es parte de la historia y de cómo se va construyendo cada cosa, si esperas ver una película que simplemente es gore con sustos fáciles no te la recomiendo Pero si estás esperando una película de terror que realmente te ponga a pensar que realmente te des cierto escalofrío por los temas sociales que toca la verdad es que quedarás encantada.

Hello everyone, fans of good stories, I hope you're all doing great, this time I want to share with you all a new review, I'll talk a little about one of my favorite Marvel series right now, I was really looking forward to talking about: X-Men '97... I'll be honest, a few months ago when I started watching it, I had a lot of doubts, I mean, on one hand I was really excited because, well, it's the X-Men, but on the other hand, I was already preparing for disappointment... you know how it is: sometimes these sequels are just to make some easy money off nostalgia, I remember watching the first trailer and thinking: "Ok, the animation looks... weird? Is it going to be like What If...?", which, let's be honest, wasn't my favorite... but how wrong I was, I was super satisfied, to begin with, that intro! When the first notes played, remixed but immediately recognizable... goosebumps! It was like going back in time, it wasn't just cheap nostalgia; it felt deserved, as if they were saying: "Here we are back and we respect what came before." Everything was brilliantly prepared.
And the animation? Remember when I was worried? Forget it! It's brutal, they achieved something incredible: it feels exactly like the old series but at the same time it looks modern, polished... they found the exact point, it seems like it's almost all 2D, but they put in 3D to support the action scenes and it looks great! It's fluid, dynamic, and the character designs... are incredible, straight out of a comic, but with luxurious animation. They even sometimes added that subtle touch of a VHS filter, without going overboard, just enough to give it that retro 90s vibe without making it look old, it's as if they had captured the vibe of the time, not just its limitations.
It feels like a real evolution, not a replacement. Now, I know some of you might not have seen the original and that’s another thing they handled really well, the show picks up right where the other one left off, like a year later.. but you don’t have to have seen the previous five seasons to get it, especially in the first few episodes, they do a good job of adding context and reminders of who’s who and what’s up. Yeah, okay, maybe they do throw a little bit of info at you all at once like I thought they would, but it really felt necessary so that everyone was on the same page, old fans and new ones. I never felt like I was being treated like an idiot, more like they were giving you a heads up before they turbocharged the story. My girlfriend, who never saw the original, watched it with me and really liked it, she would ask questions and the show itself would answer them pretty quickly.
Hola a todos, fanaticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén super bien, en esta ocasión, les quiero compartir a todos ustedes una nueva reseña, les hablaré un poco de una de mis series favoritas de Marvel actualmente, ya tenia muchas ganas de hablar de: X-Men '97.. les soy sincero, hace unos meses cuando empecé a verla, iba con muchas dudas, o sea, por un lado estaba emocionadísimo porque, ¡pues son los X-Men, pero por otro lado, ya me estaba preparando para la decepción.. ya saben cómo es esto: a veces estas continuaciones son nomás para sacar plata fácil con la nostalgia, me acuerdo de ver el primer tráiler y pensar: "Ok, la animación se ve... ¿rara? ¿Va a ser como What If...?", que, seamos honestos, no fue mi favorita.. pero qué equivocado estaba, estaba súper satisfecho, para empezar, ¡esa intro! Cuando sonaron las primeras notas, remixeadas pero que reconoces al toque... ¡la piel de gallina! fue como volver al pasado, no fue solo nostalgia barata; se sintió merecido, como si dijeran: "Aquí estamos de vuelta y respetamos lo de antes".. preparó todo de forma genial.
Y la animación? ¿Se acuerdan que me preocupaba? ¡Olvídense! Es brutal, lograron algo increíble: se siente igualita a la serie vieja pero al mismo tiempo se ve moderna, pulida.. encontraron el punto exacto, parece que es casi todo 2D, pero meten 3D para apoyar en las escenas de acción y ¡queda genial! Es fluida, dinámica, y los diseños de los personajes.. están increíbles, salidos del cómic, pero con una animación de lujo. Hasta le metieron a veces ese toquecito sutil de filtro VHS, sin pasarse, lo justo pa' darle esa onda retro de los 90 sin que se vea viejo, es como si le hubieran agarrado la onda a la época, no solo las limitaciones.
Se siente como una evolución de verdad, no un reemplazo.. ahora, yo sé que a lo mejor algunos de ustedes no vieron la original y eso es otra cosa que manejaron súper bien, la serie arranca justo donde terminó la otra, como un año después.. pero no tienes que haber visto las cinco temporadas viejas para entenderle, especialmente en los primeros capítulos, hacen un buen trabajo metiendo contexto y recordatorios de quién es quién y qué onda. Sí, ok, tal vez al principio sí te sueltan un poco de info de golpe, como pensé al inicio, pero la verdad se sentía necesario pa' que todos estuviéramos en la misma página, los fans viejos y los nuevos.. nunca sentí que me trataran de tonto, más bien como que te ponen al día antes de meterle turbo a la histori, mi novia, que nunca vio la original, la vio conmigo y le gustó mucho, hacía preguntas y la serie misma se las iba contestando bastante rápido.
But here, people, is where the series goes too far: the tone... forget about Saturday morning cartoons, this has matured, it matured with us! It's much more mature, the drama hits you hard, and honestly... it gets really, really dark, really tragic... they're not afraid to take risks with the story, to put the characters in some... terrible situations! There were moments, especially around the middle of the season, that left me speechless, really, incredibly powerful things happened that have real consequences, a brutal emotional weight, it's not that it's dark just for the sake of being dark, it's that everything that happens, everything they risk, feels real, you believe it!
The script, the dialogue... are much, much better than the original, which, let's be honest, was sometimes kind of... simple. Here the interactions between the characters are cooler, more layered, the problems are more complicated, deeper, and the emotional moments... hit you right in the heart. And the characters! God, they're so well done! Cyclops? People, CYCLOPS IS GREAT! He's awesome! After so many years of seeing him half-forgotten or as the 'boring leader' in the movies, this series reminds you why he's the leader. He's a strategist, he's tormented, he's fully dedicated to Xavier's dream, but he's also full of passion and visually... it's crazy when he unleashes himself!
Wolverine is still Wolverine – you know: grumpy, loyal, with that thing he has with Jean – but he doesn't monopolize all the attention, and that's good! Let the other characters shine... and Magneto! Wow, his arc, his story in the show... phenomenal. The show delves into how complex he is in a way I haven't seen outside of the comics, really... he's not just 'the bad guy'; you fully understand his reasons, his pain, his argument for why mutants should rule, especially after everything they've been through. There are times when you really think: 'maybe Magneto has a point...', and that's exactly how it should be! He's super powerful, he's truly scary, but at the same time he's a super complex character, with a ton of layers... Rogue's thing is great too, how she deals with her powers, her past, her relationships... it really draws you in.
She carries a lot of the heart and conflict of the show, that constant struggle to connect with people when your own touch is dangerous... it's not just that her power is a curse, right? They explore the strength and even the empathy that's there... and Storm and Jean! The two of them go through some super powerful stories, of recovering, of returning to their true selves after going through really harsh traumas and manipulations. Seeing their strength, but also their vulnerable side, and how their friendship grows stronger as they fight together was beautiful. They're not just action figures; they feel like real people, dealing with extraordinary, and often horrible, things.
Pero acá, gente, es donde la serie se pasa: el tono.. olvídense de los dibujitos de sábado en la mañana, esto maduró, ¡maduró con nosotros! Es mucho más madura, el drama te pega fuerte, y la neta... se pone bien, bien oscura, bien trágica.. no le tienen miedo a jugársela con la historia, a meter a los personajes en unas situaciones... terribles! Hubo momentos, sobre todo por la mitad de la temporada, que me dejaron con la boca abierta, de verdad, pasaron cosas fuertísimas que tienen consecuencias de verdad, un peso emocional brutal, no es que sea oscura nomás por ser oscura, es que todo lo que pasa, todo lo que arriesgan, se siente real, ¡te lo crees!
El guion, los diálogos... son mucho, mucho mejores que los de la original, que, seamos sinceros, a veces era medio... simplona, acá las interacciones entre los personajes tienen más onda, más capas, los problemas son más jodidos, más profundos, y los momentos emotivos... te pegan directo al corazón. ¡Y los personajes! Dios, qué bien los hicieron! ¿Cíclope? ¡Gente, CÍCLOPE ES GENIAL! ¡Es un crack! después de tantos años de verlo medio olvidado o como el 'líder aburrido' en las pelis, esta serie te acuerda de por qué él es el líder, es estratega, está atormentado, tiene esa dedicación a full con el sueño de Xavier, pero también está lleno de pasión y visualmente... ¡es una locura cuando se desata!
Wolverine sigue siendo Wolverine – ya saben: gruñón, leal, con ese tema que trae con Jean – pero no acapara toda la atención, ¡y eso está bueno! Deja que otros personajes se luzcan.. y Magneto! wow, su arco, su historia en la serie... fenomenal, la serie se mete en lo complejo que es de una forma que yo no había visto fuera de los cómics, la verdad.. no es nomás 'el malo'; le entiendes perfecto sus razones, su dolor, su argumento de por qué los mutantes deberían mandar, sobre todo después de todo lo que viven. Hay ratos en que de verdad te quedas pensando: 'igual y Magneto tiene un punto...', ¡y justo así tiene que ser! Es súper poderoso, da miedo de verdad, pero al mismo tiempo es un personaje súper complejo, con un montón de capas.. lo de Rogue también es genial, cómo lidia con sus poderes, su pasado, sus relaciones... te atrapa muchísimo.
Ella carga con gran parte del corazón y el conflicto de la serie, esa pelea constante por querer conectar con la gente cuando tu propio toque es peligroso.. no se quedan solo en que su poder es una maldición, ¿eh? Exploran la fuerza y hasta la empatía que hay ahí.. y Tormenta y Jean! las dos pasan por unas historias súper potentes, de recuperarse, de volver a ser ellas mismas después de pasar por traumas y manipulaciones bien duras, ver su fuerza, pero también su lado vulnerable, y cómo su amistad se hace más fuerte mientras luchan juntas fue lindo, no son solo figuritas de acción; se sienten como personas de verdad, lidiando con cosas fuera de serie, y muchas veces, cosas horribles.
And that brings me to the topics, look, the old series already had that vibe of talking about prejudice, but here, in '97... they go straight, but straight with intolerance and persecution, they don't beat around the bush, they throw it in your face... they connect the whole mutant movement with super real problems of today, discrimination, hate, and it feels super current, very necessary, they show you all sides: the fools who hate for no reason, the normal people who are afraid, the mutants who just want to survive against those who seek peace... they get into those complicated gray areas, what it costs to defend yourself, that trauma of being pointed at all the time... The truth is, it feels super powerful, how they use this superhero story to touch on some of our really fucked up and real issues... and not to mention the action? It's a spectacle, people, the way they animated the powers is super creative, dynamic... the combos they send as a team are insane!
You see the characters using their abilities in new ways, and you’re like, “Wow!” Storm unleashing the fury of nature, Cyclops blasting everything with lightning, Magneto bending metal like crazy… it all looks spectacular! So much better than the original series could have done, a thousand times over… it feels very Marvel, but the good Marvel, that giant universe, not so much the MCU. There are cameos and nods, but they feel natural, part of this world, not something forced to connect with the movies, I loved that, it’s a breath of fresh air… the pace is also, wow!, it doesn’t stop, one episode leaves you wanting more, and almost all of them end with a cliffhanger that leaves you saying “Nooo, I need to watch the next one NOW!” We couldn’t stop, it was like “come on, one more, just one more…” It’s addictive!
And as I was saying, the series isn't afraid to give you a good blow. There's one episode in particular, roughly halfway through the season... Look, I'm not going to give you anything, no spoilers, but... brace yourselves... it changes all the rules of the game and shows you the terrible, and lasting, consequences of hatred and violence. It's one of those things that sticks with you. It makes it clear that this isn't just about reminiscing, not at all! They're telling an important story, and often it's very sad.
Y eso me lleva a los temas, miren, la serie vieja ya tenía esa onda de hablar del prejuicio, pero acá, en '97.. van de frente, pero de frente con la intolerancia y la persecución, no se andan con vueltas, te lo tiran en la cara.. conectan toda la movida mutante con problemas súper reales de hoy, la discriminación, el odio, y se siente recontra actual, muy necesario, te muestran todos los lados: los tontos que odian porque sí, la gente normal que tiene miedo, los mutantes que solo quieren sobrevivir contra los que buscan la paz.. se meten en esos grises complicados, lo que cuesta defenderse, el trauma ese de que te señalen todo el tiempo... La verdad, se siente súper potente, cómo usan esta historia de superhéroes para tocar temas bien jodidos y reales nuestros.. y ni hablar de la acción? es un espectáculo, gente, la forma en que animaron los poderes es súper creativa, dinámica.. los combos que se mandan en equipo son una locura!
Ves a los personajes usando sus habilidades de maneras nuevas, que te dejan como "¡Wow!". Tormenta desatando la furia de la naturaleza, Cíclope reventando todo con los rayos, Magneto controlando metal a lo bestia... ¡todo se ve espectacular! Muchísimo mejor de lo que podía hacer la serie original, mil veces.. se siente muy Marvel, pero el Marvel bueno, ese universo gigante, no tanto el MCU. Hay cameos y guiños, pero se sienten naturales, parte de este mundo, no una cosa forzada para conectar con las pelis, eso me encantó, es un aire fresco.. el ritmo además es ¡uf!, no para, un capítulo te deja picando para el otro, y casi todos terminan con un cliffhanger que te deja diciendo "¡Nooo, necesito ver el siguiente YA!".. no podíamos parar, era como "dale, uno más, solo uno más...". ¡Es adictiva!
Y como les decía, la serie no tiene miedo de darte un buen golpe bajo, hay un episodio en particular, más o menos a mitad de temporada... Miren, no les voy a contar nada, cero spoilers, pero... prepárense.. cambia todas las reglas del juego y te muestra las consecuencias terribles, y para siempre, del odio y la violencia. Es de esas cosas que se te quedan grabadas, te deja claro que esto no es solo para recordar viejos tiempos, ¡para nada! Están contando una historia importante y, muchas veces, es muy triste.
Well, my final opinion? Look, for me this is one of the best things Marvel Studios has released in YEARS, eh.. be it animation, series, whatever you want, they have a tremendous respect for the original but at the same time they take it further, the characters are worked, it looks incredible, the action is good and it touches on complex issues with head and heart, it made me laugh, scream at the screen, stand with my mouth open, and yes... I'm not going to lie to you, if you're sensitive, it might bring a few tears to your eyes. My score? A 9.5/10, easy! It's not perfect, mind you, maybe at first they throw a lot of data at you at once, but it exceeded everything I expected, it made me remember why I love these characters so much, seriously, people, if you have a minimum of affection for the X-Men, or simply like good animated stories, with real substance, you have to see X-Men '97... and well, that would be all... Miren, para mí esto es de lo mejorcito que ha sacado Marvel Studios en AÑOS, eh.. sea animación, serie, lo que quieran, te tienen un respeto tremendo a la original pero al mismo tiempo la llevan más allá, los personajes están trabajados, se ve increíble, la acción es buena y toca temas complejos con cabeza y corazón, me hizo reír, gritarle a la pantalla, quedarme con la boca abierta, y sí... no les voy a mentir, si eres sensible, te puede sacar algunas lágrimas. ¿Mi puntaje? Un 9.5/10, ¡fácil! No es perfecta, ojo, quizás al principio te tiran mucha data de golpe, pero superó todo lo que yo esperaba, me hizo acordar por qué amo tanto a estos personajes, en serio, gente, si le tienen un mínimo de cariño a los X-Men, o simplemente les gustan las buenas historias animadas, con sustancia de verdad, tienen que ver X-Men '97.. y bueno, esto sería todo.. espero que les haya gustado esta nueva reseña, cuidense! While I’m away in a small villa with little to no access to the internet, I’ve had the chance to watch a lot of movies. One of them is Lucy, which I’ll be reviewing in this post.
Lucy is very much my kind of movie; it’s a thriller with an interesting storyline and a good dose of sci-fi. It kept me entertained and thrilled from beginning to end.
Lucy is a 2014 science fiction action thriller directed by Luc Besson and starring Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik, and Amr Waked. The movie explores themes of human potential, evolution, knowledge, power, and what it really means to be human.
The Storyline
We’ve always heard that humans only use about 10% of their brains. Isn’t it surprising, looking at all the things we can already do with just that? Especially in the 21st century, where our brains are much more advanced than those of early humans. LUCY takes this idea and pushes it further by exploring what could happen if humans unlocked the full potential of their brains through a synthetic drug called C.P.H.4.
The story begins with Lucy, an ordinary student who gets tricked by her new boyfriend into delivering a mysterious briefcase to a dangerous man named Mr. Jang. She has a bad feeling about the job, and her instincts are right. Instead of a simple delivery she is captured and forced to become a drug mule for the C.P.H.4. that was in the briefcase.
The drugs are surgically placed in her stomach, but after a brutal kick from one of the guards, the bag tears open and the drug leaks into her system. From there, Lucy begins to acquire superhuman physical and mental abilities such as telekinesis, instant learning, controlling matter and even manipulating time. She no longer feels pain or fear.
Then there's Professor Norman (Morgan Freeman), a scientist who has spent years researching the brain. Lucy reads all of his research in minutes and contacts him for guidance. When she asks what she should do with her growing knowledge and power, he tells her the best thing is to pass it on.
At 60% brain capacity, she was already smarter than any existing technology and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she would do at 100%.

This movie wouldn't be complete without the great action scenes. The fights between Lucy and Mr. Jang’s crew add the excitement needed to balance the sci-fi elements.
As the movie reachess its climax, Lucy rushes to meet Professor Norman and his team before her brain reaches 100%. She sits in a lab as her body begins to transform spreading black matter and creating a massive, advanced supercomputer to store all her knowledge. While this is happening, Mr. Jang and his men storm the building in a desperate attempt to kill her and reclaim the drugs.
But by the time Jang reaches the lab and points his gun at Lucy’s head, it was already too late.She has already reached 100% brain capacity and transcends her human form disappearing completely into space. All that’s left behind is the supercomputer, which then condenses into a small flash drive for Prof. Norman.
My Thoughts
Lucy is a brilliant and thought-provoking movie that I would definitely watch again. The storyline is well developed, the action is thrilling, and the way her powers were explored felt unique and original compared to some superhero movies.

What stood out most to me was how the movie explored the possibilities of the human brain. It reminded me of something my biology teacher always used to say: “You haven’t even used 1% of your brain.” He loved to remind us how big our brain is, how it can process information faster than any textbook we complain about, and how much potential lies untapped within us. Watching Lucy brought that memory back and made me think deeper about what humans could achieve and what the world would look like if more of our potential isunlocked.

The only part I didn't like is the ending. I don’t know if there could have been a better one, but I personally wanted to see more of Lucy and how the computer she created would be used. Still, I was satisfied with how she achieved her purpose of leaving behind all the knowledge she had gained, stored in a form humans could access.
Recommendation
If you enjoy action mixed with sci-fi and a little philosophy about human potential, then Lucy is a must-watch. It’s thrilling, thought-provoking, and unique in its approach. I would give it 4.7 out of 5.

War films don’t always pull me in. I mostly skip them except I see a trailer that’s compelling enough. This is because they mostly feel like the same explosions and military tropes recycled again and again. But The Covenant just hits differently. maybe it’s because it’s Guy Ritchie’s or because Jake’s in it. Lol
Well, the beauty in it is that it's not just about shootings and bombings here and there with no clear storyline but it shows trust, loyalty and what it means to owe someone your life. That’s what hooked me.
Synopsis(possible spoilers I guess)
The film follows the U.S. Army Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his Afghanistan interpreter, Ahmed (Dar Salim). After a mission of hunting for bomb mines goes wrong and several of Kinley’s men are gunned down, save himself and Ahmed, they seek a way to escape. But when Kinley eventually gets hit, Ahmed saves his life, dragging him through dangerous territory of the Talibs at great personal risk.
Kinley is back in America and is well but feels indebted to Ahmed after learning that Ahmed and his family are being hunted by the Taliban. He is unable to ignore the debt and works tirelessly to make sure he gets Ahmed out of the hole he’s been hiding in. Now that’s where the “covenant” comes in.
What I found really impressive about this film is the relationship between Kinley and Ahmed. It feels raw and real. Jake Gyllenhaal brings his usual intensity, but it’s Dar Salim who floored me. Ahmed isn’t just a side character, he’s the heart of the film, torn between protecting his family and standing by his promise. Their dynamic is the emotional engine, and it makes the action sequences matter more because it makes you care what happens to them.
And then there’s the action itself. Brutal, but not overblown. Ritchie doesn’t go for flashy gunfights or stylized slow-mo here. Instead, it feels grounded, tense, sweaty. You hear every bullet and feel the weight of every decision. The Afghan landscapes are stark and beautiful, and the atmosphere really hammers home how unforgiving the situation is.
I admire the fact that the film isn’t idealized. Some parts feel stretched and you can sense Ritchie trying to balance action spectacle with heavy emotional weight, sometimes leaning too far one way or the other. But honestly? The sincerity of the story outweighs the flaws.
Another interesting aspect is that the film never loses sight of the “covenant.” It’s about what people owe each other when survival is on the line. It’s less a war movie and more a story of brotherhood, sacrifice and unfinished debts that haunt you until you make them right.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely and that’s especially if you want a war film with more heart than hype. This one lingers with you long after the credits roll.
I will admit that when it comes to making films about vampires it can prove to be a very difficult genre to do anything original especially since so many of them have been made. Just think about how many times the original has been told or how Nosferatu was essetially the same film as Bram Stoker's Dracula but with different actors and less "I am an FBI Agent!" leads.
In Daybreakers we take on a topic that as far as I know has never really been approached in vampire films and after watching it, I think there is a very good reason WHY it was never attempted.
I like all three of these guys so I expected to get solid performances out of all three of them and as far as that is concerned, the film delivers. I am one of those people that thinks DaFoe can really do no wrong in acting, Ethan Hawke is pretty damn solid as well and Sam Neill is normally pretty good but I have a chip on my shoulder towards him because I think he does too many films. Regardless though, they all play their roles in this film flawlessly.
That isn't the problem though. The problem for me and many others was that this entire film isn't about vampires trying to stay in the shadows in order to not upset the balance of the world as far as humans are concerned, we are thrust into a rather preposterous situation where humans have basically been near eradicated and now there is a shortage of blood or food for the vampires that now almost completely control the world.
This is preposterous for so many reasons, the main one being that we are dealing with a supernatural group of creatures who are incapable of doing anything for 16 hours of every day. Therefore, that would be a pretty limiting factor as far as domination of anything is concerned, especially complete global dominion.
They attempt to explain this away at the start of the film by explaining that a plague of sorts took the world by storm that turned almost everyone into vampires even if they weren't bitten (I think, I wasn't paying 100% attention) but now the humans that remain exist as cattle of sorts and there are not enough of them to sustain the vampire population. Again, they attempt to explain this in a fast-forward sort of sense but the entire setup just seems preposterous to me.
There does seem to be some sort of evil corporation that is intentionally making the situation like this but again, this is not enough of an explanation for the absence of humans. They touch base on this very briefly towards the end of the film and I wont spoil it for you, but the explanation is so brief that it almost felt as though the people who wrote the screenplay also thought it was kind of stupid.
Without spoiling too much - which ultimately I am not all that concerned about because I don't think you should watch this - they spend a lot of time talking about how there are so few humans remaining in the world but just 10 minutes later we are introduced to a rather large settlement of humans, with more on the way. If humans are so vital, then why is it that instead of trying to work something out with said humans, that they instead come along and slaughter all of them?
The scenery is good, the acting is solid across the board (even for minor actors in the cast) and the vehicles and what not are plausible for vampires to be capable of operating during the day. But there are some glaring inconsistencies that exist in the story simply for the advancement of the rather weak plot.
For one thing, there is a convoy of humans that decides to make this journey from one place to another at night. Are you friggin kidding me? I would have been happier with it if there was just some sort of magical vampire bullshit vehicles and suits (and they have these too) that allow vampires to operate during the day but humans intentionally travelling during what they are extremely aware if the most vulnerable time possible for them? Sorry, that's just too far-fetched.
Also, a great many of the important moments of this film depend entirely on insane coincidental interactions that happen at the last moment. I mean, it's ok if this happens a couple of times but it is just one after the other in this thing to the point where the character development and where we are going and why don't even matter anymore. Once anyone is trapped, if they are a "good guy" and part of the main cast someone is going to rescue them at the last second. There is no reason for any sort of tension at all. This is something I cannot tolerate in any film.
Should I watch it?
I hate to say this about a film that has 3 great actors in it but no, I don't think you should. The reason why I am having difficulty remembering all the details of this film is because it just becomes so convoluted and stupid so quickly. The story is so disjointed and filled with plotholes that there is no cohesion here and in the end there really isn't any way to wrap it up. Combine this with the fact that every little thing that happens is remarkably predictable, and we have a film that can easily be skipped and just move on to the next thing.

So yesterday was the weekend and I decided to pamper myself by watching a movie in lazy style mode. The movie was recommended as comical which drew me in as I wanted something to ease my nerves.
The movie I watched is titled LEO starring Adams Sandler and It is an American musical comedy animation movie great for kids and adults as well.
Movie synopsis
Leo was a class five pet lizard who wanted to see the world before he died at 75,since he was already 74 years old. His roommate Squirtle, a tortoise, told him to confine himself to his present situation as he would never leave the class. But Leo's fate changed one day when a new substitute teacher made each kid in class take home a pet and a talkative girl took Leo home.
In his bid to escape from her place, his secret of being a talking animal was exposed but he quickly lied and covered it up. Soon Leo got taken by all the kids and they grew attached to him.
He was an embodiment of wisdom and his teachings on life lessons empowered the kids to be their best. But the substitute teacher wanted all the credit for herself and so she fooled the kids, lied to them and abandoned Leo in the Everglades.
It took Squirtle confessing his jealousy about Leo that the truth came out and in the end, it all worked out fine.
What I liked and learnt from the movie
I liked the fact that the musical was not too much and it blended with the lines. I liked the life lessons that Leo taught the kids. He went out of his way to be selfless. He put the kids first, listened to their issues, rants and complaints and he guided them back onto a positivity route that brought out the best in those kids.
Everyone has got issues and everyone has got something they want to complain about but if we can just look past the issues and look on the bright side of things, then we will be on our way to overcoming those issues. This was a major lesson I learnt from watching Leo.
I also liked the light but hearty banter shared amongst Leo, Squirtle and the kids. It made my heart flutter with delight and relaxed my nerves.
We have a choice to see good in people even when those people present a rough and rough image to us. You never know, they might just be pretending to be strong externally because they're hurting inside. This was another thing I learnt from this movie.
What I didn't like about the movie
First was the sarcasm. It felt a little off for me but it wasn't much so I let it slide. Secondly, was the slow-mo vibe that it had at the beginning.
Leo is not your regular action packed, fast paced movies rather it has a slow vibe to it and if you are not the patient type,you might find this movie boring but I promise that it gets better towards the end and watching it from start to finish will be worth your while.
I rate this movie a 6.5/10. It was funny and Adams Sandler did a great job with his voice and performance.
I hated this movie. My wife and I went to see it in the theater this afternoon. If I had been watching at home, half way through I would have left to go play video games, exercise, twiddle my thumbs, stare out the window or basically do anything to not waste any more time on this movie.
The ads make it look like this is going to be a quirky and fun movie like Baby Driver, Bullet Train or even True Romance. But that is not at all what I got. To be fair, my wife said she did like the movie, didn't love it, but at least liked it, but not me. I thought it was completely ruined by one detail that made the rest of the movie simply unwatchable. Because I have always promised to never spoil a movie... even if I think it is terrible, I won't spoil this one. But I can say that something so serious and unpleasant happens in the middle of the movie that it completely ruined it.
The movie starts as a fun romp with quirky characters and some funny dialogue. Austin Butler is just flat our charming so its hard to find a fault with him. I also think this was the best role Zoe Kravitz has played (outside of herself in the TV show 'The Studio"). She is also incredibly charismatic. Matt Smith as the Punk (literally) neighbor is also very entertaining. If they had stuck to the light-hearted, quirky and fun motif, this would have been a great movie. But they didn't. And it ruined the movie completely.
The first act is quirky and fun. The third act could have been quirky and fun. But the second act is so devastatingly serious that it made me feel bad about laughing at anything after that point.
To be honest, this is my own fault. Darren Aronofsky has literally never made a fun movie. Seriously look up all 20 of them. You might says some are good (most are not) but not a single one is fun. I have no idea why I let the ad campaign fool me into thinking he learned how to have fun. I mean the only movies of his that I actually think was extremely high quality were Pi and Requiem for a Dream. Neither of which come anywhere close to even 1 fun scene. Requiem for a dream may be a masterpiece, but it is one that you watch when you want to be reminded that"drugs are bad M'kay".

I could really tell that Aronofsky was trying to be fun. He actually pulled it off for two thirds of the movie but that middle third... he just couldn't help himself. He simply had to make the audience miserable for no reason. By not picking a lane of either being super sad and serious, or being fun with some dark humor, he ended up doing neither. This movie felt like two completely different movies mashed together in a way that made nothing work.
Sadly, all it would have taken was one different detail and he could have actually pulled off a fun romp. I have no idea how this made it by a test audience without them saying "What the fuck? You seriously did that?"
I have always said, I actually appreciate bad movies. Following the Taoist principal of the Yin and The Yang, seeing terrible movies makes me really appreciate all of the good ones. It also allows me to show my readers that I don't just automatically love everything I watch. Sometimes a writer and director make a horrendous mistake. Both clearly did in Caught Stealing.
