Hello everyone, dear Movies and TV Shows community, I hope you're all well, as you can see, this time I'm here to give you my honest opinion of a series, and well, my people, make yourselves comfortable, bring yourselves a coffee, because today we're going to talk about Yellowstone... and seriously, where the hell have I been all this time? I know, I know, the series is YEARS old and everyone was talking about it, but I just got around to watching it and... wow! Seriously... wow, I just binged everything there is available and I'm still sort of processing it all, my head racing... First of all, have any of you seen it yet? Or are you thinking about getting into it? Because, honestly, the hype does have its reason to be, at least for a good part of it, I had heard little things, I saw it mentioned everywhere, I even saw some sports commentators discussing it live once... to give you an idea of how HUGE this series became, especially over there in the United States, from what I read, it became the most-watched series over there, with some crazy numbers!, like 12 million people watching the season premieres... and its rating on IMDb is very respectable... so, when I started, I said, 'okay, this has to be good, right?'

The plot goes more or less like this: it focuses on the Dutton family, led by the patriarch, John Dutton - played by Kevin Costner, who kills it in that role, seriously! He even won a Golden Globe for it, well deserved! They own this ridiculously HUGE ranch in Montana, crazy big! The largest in the US they say, the whole show is basically about their constant and pretty brutal fight to keep that land… it’s been in their family for generations, and literally everyone wants a piece of it… we’re talking real estate developers, corporations with tons of money, the neighboring Native American reservation which is led by a super cool chief with his own stories and legitimate grievances, even those pesky Californians who keep moving in… it’s a non-stop pressure, from all sides!

Hola a todos, querida comunidad de Movies and TV Shows, espero que estén bien, cómo verán, en esta ocasión les vengo a dar mi honesta opinión de una serie, y bueno, mi gente, pónganse cómodos, tráiganse un cafecito, porque hoy hablaremos de Yellowstone.. y en serio, ¿dónde carajos he estado metido todo este tiempo? Ya sé, ya sé, la serie tiene AÑOS y todo el mundo hablaba de ella, pero apenas me animé a verla y... ¡wow! en serio... wow, me acabo de echar todo lo que está disponible y todavía ando como procesando todo, con la cabeza a mil.. Primero que nada, ¿alguno de ustedes ya la vio? ¿O andan pensando en entrarle? Porque, honestamente, el hype sí tiene su razón de ser, por lo menos durante una buena parte, yo había escuchado cositas, la veía mencionada por todos lados, hasta vi a unos comentaristas deportivos discutiéndola en vivo una vez.. para que se den una idea de lo GIGANTE que se volvió esta serie, sobre todo allá en Estados Unidos, por lo que leí, llegó a ser la serie más vista por allá, con unos números ¡de locos!, tipo 12 millones de personas viendo los estrenos de temporada.. y su calificación en IMDb es muy respetable.. así que, cuando empecé, dije, ‘okey, esto tiene que estar bueno, ¿no?’.
La onda va más o menos así: se centra en la familia Dutton, liderada por el patriarca, John Dutton – interpretado por Kevin Costner, que la rompe en ese papel, ¡en serio!, hasta se llevó un Globo de Oro por eso, ¡merecidísimo! Son dueños de un rancho exageradamente GIGANTE en Montana, que locura de tamaño!, el más grande de Estados Unidos, según dicen, toda la serie es básicamente sobre su lucha constante y bien brutal por no perder esa tierra.. ha sido de su familia por generaciones, y literal, todo el mundo quiere un pedazo.. estamos hablando de desarrolladores inmobiliarios, corporaciones con un montón de plata, la reserva indígena vecina que está liderada por un jefe súper interesante con sus propias historias y reclamos legítimos, y hasta los californianos fastidiosos que se mudan para allá.. es una presión que no para, ¡por todos lados!

But the problems don’t just come from the outside, no way! The drama within the family is just as intense, or maybe even more so. John Dutton has children… well, he had four… the oldest, Lee, seemed like the most like him but… well, let’s just say he doesn’t last long in the story, then there’s Jamie, the lawyer son, super intelligent but what a complicated guy!, always caught between what he wants for himself and loyalty to the family… and THEN there’s Beth. Phew, Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, is a force of nature, a tough, brilliant, no-nonsense businesswoman who comes back to help her dad fight for the ranch.

And Casey, the youngest son, an ex-Navy SEAL who’s trying to balance his own family with the hustle and bustle of the ranch… the dynamic between all of them, especially John with his children, and that explosive argument between Beth and Jamie… is pure fire! Seriously, the story between them is murky, dark, and their first encounters are some of the most tense scenes in the series... that's what hooked me, I think. They sell it as a western, and yes, the Montana landscapes are spectacular! Beautiful... the mountains, the plains, they make you want to pack up everything and go there, the whole cowboy lifestyle, the horses, the cattle herding... things that I thought would bore me but not at all, they make it seem incredibly cool and even attractive, who would have thought! But it's much more than a simple western... I would describe it as a "western soap opera", like a good soap opera but with cowboys, it has that addictive thing of "Oh my God, what's going to happen now?!"

There are twists and turns in almost every episode, betrayals, tests of loyalty, violence that can be quite graphic, and then boom! Moments that leave you breathless. It feels like The Sopranos or Succession, but on a ranch. They operate by their own rules, bend and break laws, and do whatever it takes to protect what’s theirs. Nothing is off the table! My girlfriend and I were so close! The first season was… okay? a little slow maybe, just finding its rhythm. But the second and third… wow, incredible. There was one day, I swear, we spent like half a day just winding up. You finish an episode, look at the clock – it’s like 1 in the morning – and you know you should go to sleep, but you just look over at your partner and they’re like, “…one more, huh?” Before you know it, it’s already dawn and you’re trying to see if you can get another one in before real life calls.

Pero los problemas no vienen solo de afuera, ¡qué va! El drama dentro de la familia es igual de intenso, o capaz hasta más, John Dutton tiene hijos… bueno, tenía cuatro.. el mayor, Lee, parecía como el más parecido a él pero… bueno, digamos que no dura mucho en la historia, luego está Jamie, el hijo abogado, súper inteligente pero ¡qué complicado el tipo!, siempre atrapado entre lo que quiere para él y la lealtad a la familia.. y LUEGO está Beth. ¡Ufff, Beth Dutton, la interpreta Kelly Reilly y es.. una fuerza de la naturaleza, una mujer de negocios ruda, brillante, que no se anda con cuentos y que vuelve para ayudar a su papá a pelear por el rancho.
Y Casey, el hijo menor, un ex-Navy SEAL que anda viendo cómo balancea su propia familia con el jale del rancho.. la dinámica entre todos ellos, especialmente John con sus hijos, y ese pique ¡explosivo! entre Beth y Jamie… ¡es pura candela! En serio, la historia entre ellos es turbia, oscura, y sus primeros encontronazos son de las escenas más ¡tensas! de la serie.. eso fue lo que me enganchó, creo. Te la venden como un western, y sí, los paisajes de Montana son ¡espectaculares!, una belleza… las montañas, las llanuras, te dan unas ganas de empacar todo e irte para allá, todo ese estilo de vida cowboy, los caballos, arrear ganado… cosas que yo pensé que me iban a aburrir y para nada, lo hacen ver increíblemente cool y hasta atractivo, ¡quién diría! Pero es mucho más que un simple western.. la describiría como una “telenovela western”, como un culebrón de los buenos pero con vaqueros, tiene esa cosa adictiva de “¡Dios mío, qué va a pasar ahora?!”.
Hay giros y vueltas casi en cada capítulo, traiciones, pruebas de lealtad, violencia que puede ser bastante gráfica y de repente ¡pum!, momentos que te dejan sin aliento, se siente como Los Soprano o Succession pero en un rancho.. operan bajo sus propias reglas, doblan y rompen leyes, y hacen lo que sea necesario para proteger lo suyo.. nada está fuera de la mesa! Mi novia y yo quedamos ¡pegadísimos! La primera temporada estuvo… ¿okey?un poquito lenta quizás, como encontrando su ritmo. Pero la segunda, y tercera.. wow, increíble.. hubo un día, se los juro, que nos echamos como medio día puro vientdo.. y es que terminas un episodio, ves el reloj – es como la 1 de la mañana – y sabes que deberías irte a dormir, pero nomás te volteas a ver con tu pareja y dicen “… ¿uno más, no?”.. cuando te das cuenta, ya está amaneciendo y estás viendo si te echas otro antes de que la vida real te llame.

Okay, so a big part of why you get hooked on this show, at least for me, was Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton... I mean, Rip, the ranch foreman, loyal to John Dutton to the death, a tough guy... and his vibe with Beth is... the best, they're my favorites, super intense, complicated, loyal to each other in their own twisted way... they just crack up on screen! But really, the whole cast is incredible, right? Costner's like the mainstay, obviously, but Kelly Reilly as Beth, Cole Hauser as Rip, Luke Grimes as Casey, Wes Bentley as Jamie... even characters like Lloyd, the ranch veteran! They all add their own special touch, and the show also delves into some interesting themes, you know? like the whole American Western vibe: freedom, being yourself, that toughness, fighting for what’s yours… but it also touches on the clash between the old and the new, caring for the land or building more, political moves, family legacy, betrayal, loyalty… it gets into a lot of things, and for a while they did it really well, without it seeming like they were lecturing you or that it was boring.

Buuuut… and this is where things get weird, and maybe that’s why I was hesitant to get into it before… it seems like it didn’t always maintain that high level, for me, around the third season, going into the fourth, the quality kind of started to go down, the writing, which was so good, so powerful, started to feel… I don’t know, weird? Repetitive? Even weak, I would say... that heavy fight between Beth and Jamie that I was telling you... at first it was captivating, it came from real pain, but four seasons later, it's the same round of threats and backstabbing over and over again, and the truth is, it's started to tire me out a little. Like, okay, okay, they hate each other, we get it! Can we continue with something else? and other characters seemed to go around in circles or the plot mistreated them just to create drama, there's a character, Monica, Casey's wife, who basically something horrible happens to her every blessed season, some trauma, depression...

After a while it felt like too much, you know? honestly, people on the internet say that she fast-forwards her scenes, and now I kind of understand them a little... that also dragged Casey's character down. Even Beth and Rip, when they were more relaxed as a couple, lost a bit of that dangerous spark that made them so great. Then, it seemed, the writers liked Beth so much that... they started making copies? Suddenly, other super-capable, sharp-tongued women appeared who felt like "lite" versions of Beth, whose only differences were their hair color or which "team" they played for... it felt like they took the easy way out, really.

Okay, gran parte de por qué te enganchas con esta serie, al menos para mí, fueron Rip Wheeler y Beth Dutton.. o sea, Rip, el capataz del rancho, leal a John Dutton a morir, un tipo durísimo... y su onda con Beth es.. lo máximo, son mis favoritos, super intensos, complicados, leales el uno al otro a su manera medio retorcida.. es que sacan chispas en pantalla! Pero, la verdad, todo el elenco es increíble, ¿eh? Costner es como el pilar, obvio, pero Kelly Reilly como Beth, Cole Hauser como Rip, Luke Grimes como Casey, Wes Bentley como Jamie... ¡hasta personajes como Lloyd, el veterano del rancho! Todos le ponen su toque especial, la serie también se mete con temas interesantes, ¿sabes? como toda esa onda del Oeste gringo: la libertad, ser tú mismo, esa rudeza, pelear por lo tuyo.. pero también toca el choque entre lo viejo y lo nuevo, cuidar la tierra o construir más, las movidas políticas, el legado familiar, traición, lealtad.. le entra a un montón de cosas, y por un buen rato lo hicieron súper bien, sin que pareciera que te estaban dando una clase o que fuera aburrido.
Peeero... y aquí es donde la cosa se pone rara, y quizá por eso yo dudaba en entrarle antes... como que no mantuvo ese nivelazo siempre, para mí, por ahí después de la tercera temporada, entrando a la cuarta, la calidad como que empezó a bajar, la escritura, que era tan buena, tan potente, se empezó a sentir... no sé, ¿rara? ¿Repetitiva? Hasta floja, te diría.. esa pelea tan heavy entre Beth y Jamie que les decía... al principio era atrapante, venía de un dolor real, pero cuatro temporadas después, es la misma vuelta de amenazas y puñaladas por la espalda una y otra vez, y la verdad, ya me empezó a cansar un poco. Como que, ¡ya, ok, se odian, lo entendimos! ¿Podemos seguir con otra cosa? y otros personajes como que daban vueltas en lo mismo o la trama los maltrataba solo para meter drama, hay un personaje, Monica, la esposa de Casey, que básicamente cada bendita temporada le pasa algo horrible, algún trauma, depresión...
Ya después de un tiempo se sentía como mucho, ¿sabes? la verdad, la gente en internet dice que adelanta sus escenas, y ahora como que los entiendo un poco.. eso también arrastraba al personaje de Casey. Incluso Beth y Rip, cuando ya estaban más tranquilos como pareja, perdieron un poco de esa chispa peligrosa que los hacía tan geniales, luego, como que a los guionistas les gustó tanto Beth que... ¿empezaron a hacer copias? De repente salían otras mujeres súper capaces y con lengua filosa que se sentían como versiones 'light' de Beth, que solo cambiaban por el color de pelo o para qué 'equipo' jugaban.. se sintió como que tomaron el camino fácil, la verdad.

Well, the main story, the plot itself, also kind of started to get stretched out a bit too much, you know? At first, the first few seasons, you had super-clear villains you could believe, the guys they wanted to build up, Chief Rainwater, the Beck brothers, who were actually scary! But later on, things felt less focused. Season 4 really kicked off after that crazy ending in Season 3, but then it kind of started to digress. It felt like that central "us against the world" struggle was lost a bit, that vibe that made the first seasons so exciting, and Season 5, well, the first part at least, felt even more like a slow-burn political drama, kind of like a family soap opera, and with the same threat from that corporation that's been nagging us since Season 3... seems like people noticed, huh?

They say the ratings went through the floor in that first half... it went from being one of those nail-biting shows to having, I don't know, 10 or 15 minutes of something really good in each hour-long episode, and the rest was just so-so. On top of that, add in all the behind-the-scenes nonsense now, like Kevin Costner is leaving or already left before the final episodes, or maybe there's a beef with the creator, Taylor Sheridan... Sheridan, by the way, is the one who created the show and, watch out!, it seems like since season 3 he started writing all the episodes himself... if you look at the list of other things he has in the works - like other shows and movies, the spin-offs like 1883 and 1923 (which I haven't seen, but they say they're good) - he took on too much at once... maybe Yellowstone, the main series, the original, started to pay the price for that. So, after all this, what's my final verdict? Is Yellowstone worth watching or not? Look, despite the drop in standards in recent seasons and all the off-camera noise...

I still think so, especially, especially!, the first three seasons... it's really good television - it hooks you in, it's spectacularly filmed, the acting is top-notch, with characters you'll love, hate, and root for, sometimes all at the same time, it's like an epic saga, kind of chaotic, violent, and even has its weird romantic touch. The thing is... it's infuriating, you know? It's frustrating! Because it was SO good, I'd easily give it a 9 or 9.5 out of 10 at the beginning... but that drop in the quality of the writing in the later seasons lowers the rating, overall, I think I'd stick with an 8/10. It's still better than a lot of stuff out there, and the good moments it had were great... you just have to be mentally prepared for the fact that towards the end it loses a bit of steam, it slows down a bit... and well, that would be all for today, we'll see you soon... take care of yourselves, bye!

Y bueno, la historia principal, la trama como tal, también como que la empezaron a estirar de más, ¿saben? Al principio, las primeras temporadas, tenías villanos súper claros y que te creías, los tipos que querían construir, el Jefe Rainwater, ¡los hermanos Beck que sí daban miedo de verdad! Pero ya después, como que la cosa se sintió menos centrada, la temporada 4 arrancó con todo después de ese final de locos de la 3, pero luego como que se puso a divagar. Como que se perdió un poco esa lucha central de "nosotros contra el mundo", esa vibra que hacía que las primeras temporadas fueran tan emocionantes, y la temporada 5, bueno, la primera parte al menos, se sintió todavía más como un drama político a fuego lento, medio telenovela familiar, y con la misma amenaza de la empresa esa que viene dando lata desde la temporada 3.. parece que la gente se dio cuenta, ¿eh?
Dicen que los ratings se fueron al piso en esa primera mitad.. pasó de ser de esas series que te comes las uñas a tener, qué sé yo, 10 o 15 minutos de algo realmente bueno en cada capítulo de una hora, el resto, meh. Encima, súmale todo el rollo que hay detrás de cámaras ahora, que si Kevin Costner se va o ya se fue antes de los últimos capítulos, que si hay bronca con el creador, Taylor Sheridan.. este Sheridan, por cierto, es el que creó la serie y, ¡ojo!, parece que desde la temporada 3 empezó a escribir todos los capítulos él solito.. si ves la lista de otras cosas que tiene andando – como más series y películas, los spin-offs como 1883 y 1923 (que no he visto, pero dicen que están buenos) agarró demasiadas cosas al mismo tiempo.. a lo mejor Yellowstone, la serie principal, la original, empezó a pagar los platos rotos por eso. Así que, después de todo esto, ¿cuál es mi veredicto final? ¿Vale la pena ver Yellowstone o no? Miren, a pesar de que bajó el nivel en las últimas temporadas y todo este ruido fuera de cámaras...
Yo todavía creo que sí, obre todo, ¡sobre todo!, las primeras tres temporadas.. es televisión de la buena, de verdad – te engancha, está filmada espectacular, las actuaciones son de primera, con personajes que vas a amar, odiar y apoyar, a veces todo al mismo tiempo, es como una saga épica, medio caótica, violenta y hasta tiene su toque romántico raro. Lo que pasa es que... da coraje, ¿saben? ¡Frustra! Porque era DEMASIADO buena, fácil yo le ponía un 9 o 9.5 de 10 al principio.. pero esa caída en la calidad de la escritura en las últimas temporadas, pues le baja la calificación, en general, yo creo que me quedaría con un 8/10. Sigue siendo mejor que un montón de cosas que andan por ahí, y los momentos buenos que tuvo fueron geniales.. nomás tienes que ir mentalizado de que hacia el final pierde un poco de fuerza, le baja un poquito el ritmo.. y bueno, eso sería todo por hoy, nos veremos pronto.. cuidense mucho, byebye!

I want to share my review of this beautiful film with an excellent and wonderful cast: "THE INTERN".

This follows the story of Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower portrayed by the famous Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, who becomes a senior intern at an online fashion company founded by Jules Ostin, portrayed by another famous Hollywood actress, Anne Hathaway.

The film explores themes of intergenerational relationships.

Jules was initially hesitant about the idea of hiring and accepting a senior or older intern in the company. However, Ben's wisdom and experience, despite his age, prove valuable to Jules and the other younger employees.

This is such a heartwarming film showcasing a beautiful friendship and work ethic between two generations that creates trust, respect, and care for each other.

I love Jules and Ben's chemistry as colleagues, as best friends, and as a family. I also love the scene when Ben and his younger colleagues help Jules break into her mother's house to delete the nasty email she accidentally sent to her mom. That was so hilarious.
I love how Anne Hathaway portrayed the struggles of a successful woman balancing her work and her personal life with so much authenticity. That was so inspiring.

This is really a good film to watch. Beyond its insightful themes that can warm our hearts, this is also a feel-good story that teaches us generational wisdom and not to judge people by their age, but to accept and respect them.

You will also adore and fall in love with Jules' daughter here. You'll see and understand if you watch this movie. She is such an adorable and charming kid like her mom.

This is a must-watch movie for both the young and older generations, so I hope you'll give it a try and take the time to watch this film. I promise you that this is a good one and is totally worth your time.

The slide towards a potential Third World War finds a perverse accomplice in Western popular culture’s relentless reduction of history to the Second World War, and the war itself to a simplistic, morally unambiguous clash of Good versus Evil. Hollywood, as the primary architect of this collective memory, bears significant responsibility, and no figure looms larger than Steven Spielberg. His enormously influential 1990s outputs – Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998) – while lauded for their visceral power and emotional resonance, were also potent engines of this simplification. Saving Private Ryan, despite its critical and commercial triumph, faced substantial controversy; accusations of American chauvinism, historical inaccuracies (particularly regarding the German portrayal and the mission's plausibility), and the very framing of the war as a primarily American moral crusade drew pointed criticism. Spielberg, seemingly stung by these critiques or driven by a desire to transcend them, embarked on an ambitious corrective: co-producing, with Tom Hanks, the ten-part HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (2001). Ambrose’s bestselling 1992 oral history, Band of Brothers chronicles the extraordinary journey of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Ambrose’s methodology was its defining strength: extensive, intimate interviews with surviving veterans allowed him to construct a narrative grounded not in grand strategy or political machinations, but in the visceral, personal, and often harrowing experiences of the men who fought. This focus on the "ground truth" of combat, camaraderie, fear, and loss became the miniseries' core mandate. Currahee immediately honours this approach, opening not with dramatisation, but with the weathered faces and resonant voices of the real veterans reflecting, decades later, on their motivations for enlisting after Pearl Harbor. These brief, powerful documentary segments instantly anchor the fiction in lived reality, establishing an implicit pact with the viewer: this story, however dramatised, stems from genuine memory and sacrifice. Their presence serves as both prologue and moral compass for the fictionalised ordeal about to unfold.

The episode’s narrative structure is a masterstroke of delayed gratification and character formation. It opens in medias res on the tense eve of D-Day, June 4th, 1944, in England. The men of Easy Company, keyed up and frustrated by repeated delays, anxiously await the jump into Normandy. This palpable tension, however, is deliberately unresolved. Instead, the episode flashes back two years to 1942, transporting us to the brutal proving ground of Camp Toccoa, Georgia. Here, we witness the raw material of Easy Company: a disparate group of volunteers transformed, through relentless hardship, into an elite airborne unit. This transformation is orchestrated almost solely by one man: 1st Lieutenant Herbert Sobel (David Schwimmer). Sobel is the episode's central, defining force – a petty tyrant masquerading as a disciplinarian. He targets perceived threats, most notably the quietly competent 2nd Lieutenant Richard Winters (Damian Lewis), whom the enlisted men instinctively respect. Sobel’s inadequacy becomes starkly apparent during tactical field exercises, where his indecisiveness and poor judgment contrast violently with Winters’ calm effectiveness. The simmering resentment amongst the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) – men like Lipton (Donnie Wahlberg), Guarnere (Frank John Hughes), and Malarkey (Scott Grimes) – boils over in England. Written by Erik Jendresen and Tom Hanks, Currahee functions remarkably effectively as an introductory chapter to a sprawling ensemble narrative. Its primary challenge – introducing dozens of characters within a coherent structure – is met by strategically focusing the dramatic conflict on the stark dichotomy between Sobel, the episode’s undeniable antagonist, and Winters, its emergent moral centre and hero. This clear framing device allows the audience a point of entry, understanding the unit’s early dynamics through the lens of this toxic leadership struggle. Simultaneously, the script deftly seeds the identities of numerous key figures who will carry the narrative forward: the stoic Lipton, the fiery Guarnere, the dependable Luz (James Madio), the earnest Compton (Neal McDonough), the quiet Hoobler (Peter Youngblood Hills), and others. It’s notable that many of these roles were filled by then-lesser-known British actors – like Lewis and Simon Pegg (1st Sgt. Evans) – whose careers would subsequently soar, lending the series an intriguing retrospective weight. The episode efficiently establishes the core themes: the brutal process of forging soldiers, the complex nature of leadership (contrasting Sobel’s petty authority with Winters’ earned respect), the nascent bonds of brotherhood formed through shared suffering, and the stark difference between training and the impending reality of combat.

The performances, necessarily constrained by the ensemble nature and introductory focus, are largely solid foundations for future development. Damian Lewis embodies Winters with a compelling quietude and innate decency, projecting an unspoken strength and competence that makes the men’s loyalty instantly believable. The supporting NCOs effectively convey the simmering resentment and weary endurance of Sobel’s regime. However, the episode unquestionably belongs to David Schwimmer. Casting the sitcom star known for the hapless Ross Geller was a bold, initially jarring, choice that pays off brilliantly. Schwimmer delivers a tour-de-force performance as Sobel, capturing the character’s profound insecurity masked by brittle, overbearing authority. His physical rigidity, nasal vocal delivery, and perpetually aggrieved expression perfectly convey a man intoxicated by petty power yet utterly devoid of the genuine leadership qualities warfare demands. He portrays not a cartoon villain, but a dangerously inept martinet whose very presence becomes an existential threat to the men he’s supposed to lead. The irony is potent: the series’ biggest star at the time, thanks to Friends, is also the first major character effectively written out, his departure before combat a crucial, if ignominious, turning point for Easy Company. Schwimmer’s portrayal ensures Sobel’s legacy, however negative, is indelibly stamped on the company and the viewer’s memory.

Currahee succeeds masterfully in its primary objectives: establishing the origin story of Easy Company, defining its core conflict through the Sobel-Winters dichotomy, introducing the key players, and immersing the viewer in the brutal, dehumanising process of becoming an elite paratrooper. While later episodes delve deeper into combat horror, individual character arcs, and the psychological toll of war, this premiere lays the essential groundwork with remarkable efficiency and dramatic power. It confronts the uncomfortable truth that the men who triumphed in Normandy and beyond were not born heroes, but forged – sometimes under the hammer of a deeply flawed leader – in places like Camp Toccoa. It sets the stage for Band of Brothers’ grand ambition: to honour the complexity, sacrifice, and enduring humanity within the vast, often oversimplified, narrative of World War Two, proving Spielberg and Hanks could deliver a vision far more nuanced than their earlier, more controversial, blockbusters. The climb up Currahee is only the beginning, but it’s a punishing, unforgettable ascent.

Synopsis

Strange weather phenomena, a gigantic meteor shower... Some of these meteorites accelerate or slow down... Which can only mean one thing: they are being piloted... And very quickly, enormous mechanical tripods emerge from the meteors to attack anything that moves, following a very precise plan of attack, but what is it? How can we survive...

Casting

Two or three well-known names, in very minor roles, albeit important ones... The actors who play active roles perform quite well, except for Ice Cube, who, in my opinion, is more than terrible.

My opinion

The synopsis sounds interesting, doesn't it? That's why I wanted to see it, knowing that I've seen other interpretations of HG Wells' major work.

The following contains spoilers, to save you from watching what I consider to be an interstellar flop. Don't read on if you want to form your own opinion, and then come back to comment with your thoughts.

Forget everything you've heard about the original War of the Worlds. Here, we're talking about alien attacks, tripods, and their famous foghorns, but any comparison to the original work ends there, because we won't be talking about colonial excesses... Nor will we be talking about survival itself, as in the version with Tom Cruise...

Here we're going to talk about the relationship between humans and private data... And it's just done any old way... It's almost an insult to the subject matter...

Basically, aliens come to attack us to feed on our data, which is already absurd in itself... Data is just a series of 0s and 1s stored on disks, according to a coding system that is unique to us.

But let's ignore that detail and imagine that it's credible. The aliens, tiny hybrid nanorobots, both living beings and machines, literally eat our data, which disappears after being consumed... These intelligences could have duplicated it first in order to feed on it indefinitely, but no... The film shows the disappearance of Facebook to emphasize the destruction of what has been consumed...

But this is not shown directly from the outset; we are first shown coordinated attacks on data centers that the tripods destroy... Instead of feeding on them, which would have had the same effect, go figure.

Note: this part of the film is "well done".

We later learn that this attack is actually a diversion to reach a top-secret global data collection center (Goliath). This center is very difficult to access because it is underground and completely isolated, off the grid ... really? Off the grid, you have to be brave to imply that... It makes you wonder how Goliath captured the information it contains... Anyway... Let's move on!

There are other glaring errors, such as the fact that despite the disappearance of data, websites, and therefore the internet, the “hero” Ice Cube continues to communicate with the other characters from his bunker without any problems, even though the world's armies are on their knees... Or that a piece of tape can stop major bleeding... Or that amazon.com is still accepting orders to launch a delivery drone, even though the internet no longer exists...

You will have understood that I did not appreciate this film, even if the special effects of the tripods are not bad, without being exceptional (problem of reaction speed at certain moments)... This film is an accumulation of continuous nonsense that prevents you from immersing yourself in the action. The choice to put the action entirely in the third person does not help either, never an actor, always a spectator.

There is a reference to Anonymous, but again, it is poorly handled, as is the bunker hero's daughter's innate talent for managing ultra-confidential programs, a true expert at, as she herself says, her very first use of the tool. All of this on a network that is supposed to have been destroyed, need I remind you 😉 ...

1/10 for the effects, okay 3/10 for some of the actors, even if you wonder why they signed on, the paycheck, I suppose ...

Synopsis

Des phénomènes météo étranges, une pluie de météorites gigantesque... Ces météorites accélèrent ou freinent pour certaines .... Ce qui ne peux signifier qu'une seule chose, elles sont pilotées... Et très vite, d'énormes tripodes mécaniques sortent des météores pour attaquer tout ce qui bouge, selon un plan d'attaque très précis, mais lequel est-ce ? Comment y survivre ...

Distribution

Deux ou trois noms connus, pour des rôles très secondaires, même si importants... Les acteurs qui ont un rôle actif jouent plutôt bien, ignorons Ice-Cube qui est, selon moi, plus que mauvais.

Mon avis

Il à l'air sympa le synopsis, n,'est-ce pas ? C'est pour cela que j'ai voulu le voir, sachant que j'ai vu d'autres interprétations de l’œuvre majeure de HG Wells

Ce qui suit contient des spoilers, pour vous éviter de regarder ce que je considère comme un navet intersidéral. Ne lisez pas la suite si vous désirez faire votre propre opinion, et revenez ensuite pour commenter avec votre avis.

Oubliez tout ce que vous avez entendu sur l'original de la guerre des Mondes. Ici, on parle d'attaque extra-terrestres, de tripodes, et de leur fameux cornes de brumes, mais toute comparaison à l’œuvre originale s'arrête là, car on ne parlera pas des dérives coloniales ... On ne parlera pas non plus de la survie proprement dite comme dans la version avec Tom Cruise...

Ici on va parle de la relation Homme-Données privées ... Et c'est juste fait n'importe comment... C'est presque une insulte au sujet traité ...

En gros, les extra-terrestres viennent nous attaquer pour se nourrir de nos données, ce qui est déjà une absurdité en soi... Les données n'étant qu'une série de 0 et 1 stockés sur des disques, selon un codage qui nous est propre.

Mais ignorons ce détail, et imaginons que ce soit crédible. Les extraterrestres, de minuscules nanorobots hybrides, à la fois vivants et machines, mangent, littéralement nos données, ces dernières disparaissent après avoir été consommées... Ces intelligences auraient pu les dupliquer d'abord pour s'en nourrir à l'infini, mais non... Le film montre jusqu'à la disparition de Facebook pour bien insister sur la destruction de ce qui a été consommé ...

Mais ce n'est pas directement montré d'entrée de jeu, on nous laisse d'abord voir des attaques coordonnées vers des centres de données que les tripodes détruisent ... Au lieu de s'en nourrir ce qui aurait eu le même effet, allez comprendre.

Note: cette partie du film est plutôt réussie.

On apprendra plus tard que cette attaque est en réalité une diversion pour atteindre un centre de collecte de données globales (Goliath) ultra secret, ce centre est très difficile d'accès car il est sous terre et complètement isolé, hors réseau ... vraiment? Hors réseau, il fallait oser ... à se demander comment Goliath a capté les informations qu'il contient du coup... Soit... Passons!

Des erreurs affligeantes, vous en aurez d'autres, comme le fait que malgré la disparition des données , des sites et donc d'internet, le "héros" Ice Cube continue, sans soucis à communiquer avec les autres protagonistes depuis son bunker, alors que les armées du monde sont à genoux... Ou qu'un bout de ruban adhésif arrête une hémorragie majeure ... Ou que amazon.com accepte encore des commandes pour lancer l'activation d'un drone de livraison, alors qu'Internet n'existe plus...

Vous aurez compris que je n'ai pas apprécié ce film, même si les effets spéciaux des tripodes ne sont pas mauvais, sans êtres exceptionnels (problème de vitesse de réaction à certains moments)... Ce filme est une accumulation de non-sens continu qui empêche de se plonger dans l'action. Le choix de mettre l'action entièrement à la troisième personne n'aide pas non plus, jamais acteur, toujours spectateur.

Il y a un rappel aux Anonymous, mais là aussi très mal géré, tout comme des talents innés de gestion de programmes ultra confidentiels par la fille du héros du bunker, une véritable experte à, comme elle le dit elle-même, sa toute première utilisation de l'outil. Le tout sur un réseau qui est censé avoir été détruit, dois-je le rappeler 😉 ...

1/10 pour les effets, allez 3/10 pour certains acteurs, même si on se demande pourquoi ils ont signés, le cachet, je suppose ...

This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews. (All HBD earnings are used to get extra Hive Power Delegations!)

Time is really flying and I haven't been watching much lately. I tried to give the Code Geass anime series a try but after 6 episodes I'm not fully hooked on it yet so I will put it aside for some time. Instead, yesterday I watched the Chinese Movie The Farewell. The choice for it came because it has been a while since I watched an asian movie while I'm looking to potential travel to Asian next year. I vert much like asian culture in general which always make me love these movies just a bit more. I had this one on my list to watch for quite some time and kind of knew what to expect after reading the plot and it pretty much exactly delivered on it.

The plot of this movie pretty much tells it all

A Chinese family discovers their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies.

The movie is a combination of an Asian and Western movie which makes it very accessible to watch. It also is frome A24 who generally bring out movies that have something special. Part of the family lives in New York and travels to China so there is a combination of English and Chinese language and also both vibes are present.

If anything, I would say that the main theme of the movie is the difference between individualistic Western Culture and the more interdependant asian culture. In Western countries it would not really be thinkable to kleep an old person in the dark about a health condition they have while in asian countries the group kind of takes the emotional burden upon themselves while trying to give the person a final nice experience. It's an intersting question which one is better and I guess there isn't really a correct straightforward answer.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie and it pretty much exactly delivered what I expected. The acting was great, I loved the music, the visuals, the message. These is nothing really about this movie I can say a bad thing of while at the same time it also didn't fully blow me away even though it did have quite the emotional impact on me. I'm going out of my way an give this one a super solid 8.0/10 as this is the kind of movie that I personally enjoy a lot. I even might revisit this one some day as I feel it's worth the rewatch for sure.

Anime Review: Hunter x Hunter

When I first heard about Hunter x Hunter, I was skeptical. Another shonen anime? Another young boy chasing dreams? I had already watched Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and all the other major names in the genre. I felt I had seen it all—the training arcs, the power-ups, the loud speeches about friendship and determination. So, I brushed off Hunter x Hunter more times than I can count.

But something kept tugging at me. Maybe it was the constant recommendations from friends or the countless online discussions describing it as "the most underrated masterpiece" or "not your typical shonen." Eventually, curiosity got the better of me. I hit play. And that decision changed how I look at storytelling, character development, and anime as a whole.

From the first episode I could tell Hunter x Hunter was something different. It begins with Gon Freecss, a 12-years-old boy; he lives in Whale Island and dreams that he could become a Hunter and search his separated father, Ging. Typical set up, eh? However, peeling is soon to begin and you soon find out that this is not your typical coming-of-age story.

Hunter x Hunter is something truly captivating, and it is because the manga never stops reinventing itself. When you think you start to understand, the story is twisted, sometimes subtly, sometimes violently, and you are forced into a completely different mood. The plot twists are not only plot twists, but thematic developments.

The Hunter Exam arc was entertaining and exciting and established the tone and the pace. Then there was Heavens Arena and all of a sudden, Nen was brought up-a power system that is so rich in depth and with philosophical meanings, that I even re-watched scenes to piece through it. And just as I got comfortable, the anime just dumped me into Yorknew City, where things got dark and the stakes were even higher and the moral compass were even more grey than before.

Then there was the Chimera Ant arc- a masterpiece of a masterpiece. That is where Hunter x Hunter had its skin peeled off. A kid-friendly adventure evolved into a serious search of what it is to be human. The philosophical issues, the emotional charge, the tragic deconstruction of characters- I was hooked, shaken and emotionally drained in the most positive way.

Let’s talk about the characters—because, honestly, they are the heart of Hunter x Hunter.

Gon is unlike any protagonist I’ve ever met. He’s kind, bright, and idealistic, but as the series unfolds, we witness something rare: his descent. Gon's development challenges the idea of "heroism." He’s not always right. He’s not always good. He’s human—flawed, impulsive, and sometimes terrifying.

And then there is Killua- oh, Killua. His trip in many senses is the heart of the show. Having been born into a family of assassins, being trained to kill since his early years, Killua begins as cold and detached. However, in his friendship with Gon we learn of his heart, his vulnerability and his staunch loyalty. Some of the most emotional moments to me were his inner struggles of self worth, control, and love.

And we should not leave Hisoka out, he is probably the most over the top and creepy villain in history. Hisoka loves to hate (hates to love) because he is the Joker of the group, the creepily charismatic villain that you can never stop watching. Whenever he appeared on the screen, the tension was there.

Other characters such as Kurapika, Leorio, Meruem, Komugi and even the Phantom Troupe had their arcs so well written and emotionally attached that it remained with me even after the end credits.

In addition to the story and the combat, Hunter x Hunter explores in depth complicated themes- identity, morality, trauma, revenge, power, and love.

The revenge mission of Kurapika against the Phantom Troupe demonstrates how revenge can take control over a person. The tragic love story of Meruem and Komugi raises the question, can even the most vile creatures develop, fall in love and experience empathy? It is so misplaced that it makes Gon obsessed with power and justice to an extent that we must question the very notion of what makes a hero.

This anime does not feed you the answers. It makes you wonder, feel, think. It does not underestimate its audience in terms of intelligence and emotional sophistication. Although certain individuals complain about the somewhat inconsistent animation of Hunter x Hunter (2011), I would say that it is just beautifully done where necessary. The animation in the emotional and action scenes is amazing. Just watch the scene of the transformation of Gon or the final chess game between Meruem and Komugi. Chills. Every. Time.

And the music? The soundtrack is subtle yet powerful. Tracks like “Requiem Aranea” or “Understanding” perfectly capture the emotional weight of key scenes. It’s not flashy, but it’s purposeful—and that’s what makes it so effective.

Hunter x Hunter was not merely an anime experience; it was a life experience. It made me remember how important growth is, how complicated people are and that sometimes, even the best intentions may bring about pain.

At times I found myself laughing. I gasped moments. There were times when I would stop the screen to take a breath with my eyes watery.

I envy you, in case you have not seen it yet. Since you are in store of a ride you cannot forget. A tale of the naivete of childhood, of the values that survive into the adult world, with the echoes of those lessons.

Last Breath (2025), with not much to watch I had to pull one from the bucket list, a very recent one and got to say for what the movie is it didnt disappoint, its a close space movie for the most part and honestly this movie caught me way off guard but in a good way. The whole setup drops you right into this underwater world where divers are doing maintenance work on oil rigs way beneath the ocean surface, these guys are basically risking their lives every day for work and the movie does a really solid job showing you why their job are so damn dangerous without making it feel like a documentary, in FACT there is a documentary about this story that ppl online say its better but this is meant for the big screen so I would say its a nice addition. The cinematography works perfectly here, all dark and moody with these underwater shots that make the ocean feel like this massive black void waiting to swallow anyone who messes up, its way different from those typical blue water movies where everything looks pretty and safe, here the water feels like the main villain more than any shark or sea creature could ever be. What really got me hooked was how they handle the sound design throughout the entire movie, every wave crash, every metal clank from the diving equipment, all those weird underwater noises that make your skin crawl, the theater speakers really pump out this full surround experience that makes you feel like you are trapped down there with them, it does feel suffocating. The way they build tension are slow and methodical, not your usual jump scare horror but more like this creeping dread that builds up over time until you realize how screwed these guys really are when things go wrong, its almost like watching a disaster unfold in slow motion but you cant look away.

The acting feels pretty natural too, these actors actually convince you they know what they are doing with all the diving gear and technical stuff, Woody Harrelson plays this experienced diver mentor role without falling into his usual quirky character habits, more serious and grounded than what i expected from him. Finn Cole as Chris Lemons brings this vulnerability to the role that makes you care about what happens to him, especially when you find out this is based on real events that actually happened to the real Chris Lemons back in 2012 off the coast of Scotland. The guy gets trapped 300 feet underwater with no oxygen supply when a storm hits and messes up the diving bell positioning system, sounds like a nightmare scenario but the movie makes you feel every second of that terror. Simu Liu plays Dave the other diver and does a great job showing this professional who knows his job inside and out but also has to deal with impossible decisions when everything starts going wrong, his character development from someone who seems cold to someone willing to risk everything for his teammate feels earned rather than forced.

The story itself aint too complicated but it works well for what they are trying to do, its basically about teamwork and how these divers gota communicate and think fast when disaster strikes them deep underwater but I do have to say that the pacing can drag at times especially in the middle sections where they are just showing you the daily routine stuff but it helps build up that feeling of how routine is on such dangerous work becomes for these guys until something goes horribly wrong, then suddenly every little detail matters because their lives depend on following protocol exactly right, this aint Mario Bros that you get extra life, one mistake and you gone. They keep the technical diving details simple enough so regular folks can follow along but detailed enough to make you understand the real risks they face every day working on these offshore platforms. The movie manages to balance hollywood drama with enough realism to make it feel authentic instead of over the top fake, you never get the feeling they are making stuff up just to create more excitement, well lets put it this way, Im no expert diving so at least thats how I fell, I know there is a professional diver out the reading this post and saying it aint like that and its ok.

Some of the CGI effects look a bit rough especially during a few of the storm sequences that felt kinda cheesy compared to the rest of the movie but the practical underwater filming and real diving footage helps balance things out nicely. The writing has some clunky moments where the dialogue feels forced or rushed, like they needed to hit certain plot points but didnt have smooth transitions to get there but the emotional weight of the situation and the strong visual storytelling carries the movie through those weaker writing moments if you are into dark and tight spaces like you are suffocating, I love it tbh. There are definitely some Hollywood touches thrown in to make things more dramatic than real life probably was but it never goes so far that you stop believing what your watching could actually happen to these guys doing this incredibly dangerous job. The underwater sequences are terrifying in the best possible way, when Chris gets separated from his lifeline and has to find shelter in this tiny diving bell hundreds of feet below the surface with limited air supply, the claustrophobia is intense, very similar when you ever watch an astronaut get far far away in space movie its just as shocking. The movie does a great job making you feel how disorienting it must be down there in the dark cold water where you cant see more than a few feet in any direction and every sound could mean life or death, basically its the way they show his oxygen levels dropping and the carbon dioxide building up in his makeshift shelter creates this ticking clock tension that never lets up, you find yourself holding your breath during some of these scenes and grabbing the coauch arm hard waiting on whats going to happen, fkn intense.

The real Chris Lemons survived 34 minutes underwater without any air supply, I had to look this one up and its fkn insane what he did, sounds impossible but apparently happened thanks to the cold water slowing down his metabolism and some other factors that scientists still dont completely understand, its just crazy stuff. After finding this out I got to say some how the movie is very realistic about this miraculous survival in a way that feels believable rather than like some Hollywood magic, they dont try to over explain it they just show you what happened and let you decide how to process it. The ending where you see the real people this story is based on adds extra weight to everything you just watched, knowing these are real folks who went through this nightmare makes the whole experience hit different.

The ending kinda drags on longer than it needs to with this extended sequence showing the rescue operation from multiple angles, while its cool to see all the technical details of how they managed to save Chris it feels a bit like extra time that takes away from the dramatic conclusion they just built up, its like they build up all this story and then try to mansplain it tbh. Overall though Last Breath gives us a solid experience that sticks with you about how terrifying it can be to work on such dark spaces deep on the sea, its a movie that makes you respect the incredible risks these deep sea workers take and the courage it requires to do that kind of work every single day, so even though if this was not a movie and didnt depend on acting, basically a documentary, the movie does bring to your face "respect the diver", the fact that its based on true events makes everything more impactful because you know people actually lived through this terror and came out the other side, imo definitely worth watching even if its not perfect, I would give it a solid 7 out of 10, good for people who enjoy slower paced survival stories with heart and real world stakes. Honestly it might not be the best if you want fast paced action thrills but if you want a more kinda raw story with impressive dark scenarios deep on the dark sea and the silence that gives you chills and that shows real human courage under extreme pressure this one delivers the goods. The movie proves you dont need monsters or explosions to create genuine tension, sometimes the scariest thing is just being trapped in a situation where nature and machinery can kill you in seconds if anything goes wrong.

Requiem is a word that comes from Latin and means rest. The rest of souls, so to speak, is also the name of some compositions used in masses for the dead or ceremonies before a burial. Interpreting the title of the film I am reviewing today, it would be something like the dreams of the dead, a meaning I understood after watching the film in the literal sense.

Requiem for a Dream is a 2000 American film based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Hubert Selby Jr. and directed by Darren Aronofsky, starring Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans. Although I saw it several months ago, I have not been able to forget it and I don't think I ever will. It stirred up many emotions in me and made me more empathetic towards people with mental health issues and addiction problems.

The story revolves around four characters: a mother and her son, his girlfriend, and his best friend. They are four different lives united by the same problem: addiction in general and drugs. The story is divided into three seasons or episodes titled summer, autumn, and winter. I like it when I realise that another stage of the story is beginning; spring never came.

Characters:

Sara Goldfarb: She is the mother, a widow who spends her days sitting in front of the television. She loves a game show that she never misses and dreams of being invited to appear on it one day. She is addicted to television and food and lives practically alone because she only sees her son when he steals her television, which I will explain in more detail later. She sees herself as fat, but in reality it is a distortion of her body image. She is a woman who has been depressed since the death of her husband and is still mourning him. She resists ageing and wants to return to the past and look as she did before.

Harry Goldfarb: He is the son, a young man who likes the easy life and quick gratification. He is addicted to drugs, and his only concern is running out of them. When this happens, he resorts to selling anything he can. He has a nice relationship with his girlfriend, they make plans to live together, and deep down he loves his mum, even though he makes her suffer a lot. He has no bad feelings and wants to start a business one day.

Tyrone C. Love: He is Harry's friend, a loyal companion who supports him in everything. He also loves his mother, is astute and honest. He is addicted to drugs because of childhood trauma.

Marion Silver: She is Harry's girlfriend, a beautiful but stupid woman who is also addicted to drugs and, because of love, has fallen into a dead-end tunnel.

Tiene una bonita relación con su novia, hacen planes de vivir juntos y en el fondo ama a su mamá, aunque la haga sufrir mucho 😪🥹. Plot

It all begins when Sara receives a call inviting her to participate in a TV contest and decides to attend with a new look. She wants to feel renewed, like the woman she once was, so she takes an old dress out of the closet that she wore when her son graduated, but it no longer fits, causing her distress and anxiety. I think all women have been through a similar moment, and it certainly makes us sad, but Sara wants to feel happy again, like she did when she wore it for the first time. Back then, she felt beautiful, loved, and respected. To fill the void, she went on a strict diet to lose those extra pounds, believing that the dress would fit her. When it didn't, she felt even more frustrated, so she went to a doctor with dubious procedures and got involved in his diet plan. It was the worst thing she could have done.

While Sara's focus was on making drastic changes to her image without reviewing her inner self and health habits, her son continued to live the deceptive happiness of drugs and looking for money to pay for his addiction. This is where he repeatedly goes to his mother's house to steal her television, which he often finds chained to prevent him from taking it. I found these scenes heartbreaking. I felt the suffering he caused his mother by taking away her only entertainment. It was like taking her life away. Harry also suffered because he did not want to make his mother suffer. He consoled himself by saying that it was only temporary and that he would return it. In the end, the same woman recovered her pawned television, and the vicious cycle repeated itself. I cried during this scene.

At another point in the film, Harry found a way to make a lot of money as a drug dealer. We know that this business cannot be successful for long, but at this stage I felt a glimmer of hope, as he moved out, bought clothes, brought his mother a wonderful gift, and it seemed that everything would be better. In this episode, Sara was already very ill, both physically and mentally.

And in the last part, reality hit them all and they began to fall apart. At this stage, Harry's girlfriend takes centre stage, the business is over and their lives are in danger because of their debts, but the saddest thing is to see that Marion has become so addicted that she has no choice but to prostitute herself, even with her boyfriend's permission. 🥲 Very sad.

If this film was designed to send a message, it is that addictions destroy, they easily creep into a home where there are gaps and unhealed wounds. All addictions have something in common: the addict feels alone, loneliness is the void they fill with drugs, they are people who are sad inside and need to get outside with sweets, pills, and stimulants that make them feel good.

In terms of production, there were many shots that made me feel inside the characters, living their experiences. The shots were special for that, and the soundtrack heightened those emotions. It has a retro style, and although it was released in 2000, it gives the impression of being in the 80s or 90s. It is a film that, after the halfway point, makes you feel confused with so many camera movements, dark and fluorescent colours, and all those special effects, which I suppose are meant to make the viewer feel a bit drugged.

After watching it, I felt sad for the characters. I felt sorry for them; they were very vulnerable. I don't want to watch it again, but I don't rule it out either. It concluded by saying that people with addictions are dead; they only live in their dream world.

Es una película que después de la mitad te hace sentir confundido con tantos movimientos de planos, colores oscuros y a la vez fluorescentes, todos esos efectos especiales para que el espectador se sintiera un tanto drogado supongo. > > Al terminar de verla, me sentí triste por los personajes, me dieron pena, eran muy vulnerables, no deseo repetirla, pero tampoco lo descarto, y concluyó diciendo que las personas con adicciones están muertos solo viven en su mundo de sueños.

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero que se encuentren bien. El día de ayer ví una película que ha estado escalando en popularidad por ser esperada por los que lograron leer el libro antes de ver la adaptación y por los amantes de las películas de romance y drama. My Oxford Year es la película de la que les estaré hablando en esta reseña, una historia llena de poesía y libros más el romance inesperado entre un joven profesor y una alumna que sueña con grandes proyectos para su vida, entre ellos crece el amor y aunque lo hacen solo por "diversión" es obvio que al final estarían enamorados.

Yesterday I saw a movie that has been climbing in popularity for being awaited by those who managed to read the book before seeing the adaptation and by lovers of romance and drama movies. My Oxford Year is the movie I will be talking about in this review, a story full of poetry and books plus the unexpected romance between a young teacher and a student who dreams of great projects for her life, between them love grows and although they do it just for "fun" it is obvious that in the end they would be in love.

La trama nos cuenta la historia de una joven llamada Anna de la Vega quien soñaba con entrar a la Universidad de Oxford y cuando lo logra producto de su esfuerzo y de su pasión por los estudios se encuentra en medio de una nueva etapa en su vida, la universidad es un lugar desconocido pero donde aprenderá a conocer a nuevas personas, cada uno con su propia personalidad y estarán presentes mientras ella vive el sueño de su vida. No tenía ni la más mínima idea de esta historia o del libro de donde viene la adaptación. Sabía que era una historia de romance y por algunos spoilers que no busqué, ví que también existía el drama dentro de la historia pero no sabía bien de que trataba y logró sorprenderme aunque no es un tema nada nuevo en el cine, ya hemos visto otras películas donde el drama de este estilo surge mientras se navega por un romance que tiene fecha de caducidad al menos terrenalmente. Sin embargo, tenía pocas ganas de verla ya que no soy muy amante de las películas de Sofía Carson porque siento que no logro conectar con los personajes que ella interpreta, pero debo decir que en esta película aunque suele tener una actitud parecida a sus anteriores trabajos, me pareció que lo hizo bastante bien y que logre sentir un poco de la conexión entre ella y el protagonista que lo interpreta Corey Mylchreest.

I didn't have the slightest idea about this story or the book where the adaptation comes from. I knew it was a romance story and from some spoilers that I didn't look for, I saw that there was also drama within the story but I didn't quite know what it was about and it managed to surprise me even though it's not a new theme in movies, we've already seen other movies where drama of this style arises while navigating a romance that has an expiration date at least earthly. However, I had little desire to see it since I am not a big fan of Sofia Carson's movies because I feel that I fail to connect with the characters she plays, but I must say that in this film although she usually has a similar attitude to her previous works, I thought she did quite well and I managed to feel a bit of connection between her and the protagonist played by Corey Mylchreest.

La historia es bastante bonita, tiene un encanto que se demuestra desde las primeras escenas donde vemos un lugar muy británico y lleno de espacios con la arquitectura de casas de personas con dinero y muy de época. Además, muestran a detalle cada momento en como se va construyendo la relación entre Anna y Jamie quienes a pesar de venir de lugares diferentes, siendo Anna de los Estados Unidos y Jamie del país británico dónde ambos tienen cosas que los diferencian pero que hacen que se interesen mucho más en el otro. Jamie es un joven que tiene historia de ser mujeriego según los que dicen que lo conocen, tiene un porte de galán y de ser muy amante de enseñar a los otros su pasión por la literatura y la poesía y esto resalta en la película, así que fue esto algo de lo que hizo que Anna se sintiera completamente atraída hacia el además de que le parecía ridículamente gracioso y en pequeños encuentros empieza una especia de relación que desde el comienzo Jamie le recalca que es solo para divertirse y aunque sonaba mal desde el comienzo pienso que fue su manera de que las cosas no escalaran y la relación se volviera más seria.

Hay mucho amor del que te hace sentir como en un libro, ambos recorren lugares que Anna no conocía y crean memorias que podrán guardar por siempre en sus corazones, me gustó que el protagonista fuera diferente y no el típico chico malo, aunque por fuera se viera un poco de este tipo, no tenía nada más alejado que esa etiqueta y pude disfrutar de su forma tan agradable de acercarse a Anna de manera chistosa y con momentos que los avergonzaban a ambos, cómo cuando hacen karaoke y el tiene que cantar una canción Coldplay, esa escena fue una de mis favoritas y me encantó que el soundtrack estuviera tan variado que hasta una canción en español salió en una escena. Pero la que me mató fue la escena donde Anna y Jamie están juntos y empieza a sonar Kaleidoscope de Chappell Roan, se sintió muy lindo y a la vez sumamente triste porque está canción tiene una forma de hacer que llores o te sientas atrapado con la letra y la melodiosa voz de Chappell, en esa escena casi lloré porque me dió mucho sentimiento.

But the one that killed me was the scene where Anna and Jamie are together and Chappell Roan's Kaleidoscope starts playing, it felt very cute and at the same time extremely sad because this song has a way of making you cry or feel trapped with the lyrics and Chappell's melodious voice, in that scene I almost cried because it gave me so much feeling.

El ambiente es sumamente bonito cómo de una historia de amor de otra época, la relación entre Anna y Jamie es de esas que comienzan por la atracción a primera vista y que luego escala debido a las cosas que tienen en común y la pasión con la que viven cada uno su vida, pero está el hecho de que el drama si es algo que cambia la historia y la convierte en una triste pero muy real, hay una situación que hace que las cosas giren y que todo tome un rumbo diferente, sabiendo que lo mejor es disfrutar del ahora y que siempre debemos aprovechar los momentos que tenemos con los seres que amamos, esa fue una gran lección que me dejó la película, es bastante triste pero sucede con frecuencia y es algo que debemos aceptar aunque nos duela, el hecho de tener que aceptar que no todo dura para siempre y que aunque esto sea así, no por eso debemos dejar de luchar por nuestros sueños ni dejar de vivir lo que soñamos.

The atmosphere is extremely nice how of a love story from another era, the relationship between Anna and Jamie is one of those that begin by attraction at first sight and then scales due to the things they have in common and the passion with which each one lives his life, but there is the fact that the drama if something that changes the story and makes it a sad but very real, there is a situation that makes things turn and everything takes a different course, knowing that the best thing is to enjoy the now and that we should always take advantage of the moments we have with the ones we love, that was a great lesson that the movie left me, it is quite sad but it happens often and it is something we must accept even if it hurts us, the fact of having to accept that not everything lasts forever and that although this is so, we should not stop fighting for our dreams or stop living what we dream.

Debo decir que me gustó más de lo que pensaba, fue una historia bonita y me atrapó por completo el soundtrack y los personajes que complementan la historia, además me llamó la atención lo de que es una adaptación de un libro y sería bonito leer el libro para verlo desde la perspectiva del autor, aunque la sensación de leer el libro antes de ver la película es algo que no tiene comparación. Si están buscando una historia de amor con un estilo de romance de libro, esta podría gustarles y aunque tiene ese toque de drama se puede disfrutar de todas maneras, yo lo hice y aunque no me hizo llorar si me dió sentimiento ver cómo terminó, pero en si la historia es hermosa y los actores tienen una química que se siente después de que se conocen más. 🥹

I must say that I liked it more than I thought I would, it was a nice story and I was completely caught by the soundtrack and the characters that complement the story, also it caught my attention that it is an adaptation of a book and it would be nice to read the book to see it from the author's perspective, although the feeling of reading the book before watching the movie is something that has no comparison. If you are looking for a love story with a book romance style, you might like this one and although it has that touch of drama you can enjoy it anyway, I did and although it didn't make me cry it did give me feeling to see how it ended, but in itself the story is beautiful and the actors have a chemistry that you feel after they get to know each other more. 🥹

Hoy les voy a compartir una interpretación con la Flauta Dulce, de una cancion que aparece en una serie animada de que llama "ARCANE" se que la serie se estreno la primera temporada en el 2021 y la segunda en el 2024. No había tenido la oportunidad de verla, pero me dejo impactado la segunda temporada, de verdad que si no la han visto se las recomiendo 100%

Blood Plus is one of my favorite vampire series. It encompasses mystery, intrigue, and a lot of drama. It also shows vampires in a completely different form and appearance than what is commonly known from classic vampire movies. In this anime, they are called Chiroptera, and although some have a human appearance, when they want to unleash their full power, they transform into a completely unrecognizable monster, that is, with elongated arms, a deformed face like a giant bat, and short legs. Some even have wings. Basically, you could say that they developed these peculiar forms very similar to bats.

Blood Plus es una de mis series sobre vampiros favoritas. Abarca misterio, intrigas y mucho drama. Además que muestra a los vampiros con otra forma y aspecto totalmente diferente a lo común que se conoce por las películas clásicas sobre los mismos. En este animé se les hacen llamar Quiróptedos y aunque algunos tengan una apariencia humana, al querer exponer todo su poder, se transforman en un mounstro totalmente irreconocible, es decir, con brazos alargados, cara deforme como si fuese un murciélago gigante y piernas cortas, algunos incluso tienen alas. Y básicamente se puede decir que desarrollaron estas peculiares formas muy semejantes a los murciélagos.

On the other hand, the story of Blood Plus approaches you from the perspective of a girl who appears normal at first glance but hides a past that even she herself cannot remember. For me, this theme is the most intriguing from the beginning. The story of Saya and the introductory presence of mysterious characters such as Haji (the cellist) and then the Quiróptedo at its peak fill the viewer with confusion and intrigue, eager to find out what will happen in the next episode.

Por otro lado la historia de Blood Plus te aborda bajo la perspectiva de una chica que supuestamente es normal a simple vista pero oculta un pasado que ni ella misma lo recuerda. Para mí, este tema es el que más intriga desde el inicio. La historia de Saya y la introductoria presencia de personajes misteriosos como el de Haji (el chelista) y luego muestran al Quiróptedo en su máxima expresión, llena al espectador de mucha confusión e intriga con ganas de querer saber qué ocurrirá en el siguiente episodio.

It is at that moment that the mystery begins to take on a dramatic tone. They show you how valuable family ties are and that being different (even if you don't know you're different) gives you a special and unique place in the family, one of utmost importance. And the happiness of each member becomes valuable. They touch on many themes here, romance, action, drama, but what I like most is how it develops as a family bond, even though they are not a family united by blood ties. Instead, each of them is adopted by a good man with a dark past, who, in order to live a better life and leave a legacy worth remembering, adopted these three children and formed one of the most beautiful families in the anime universe.

Es en ese instante donde el misterio empieza a impregnarse de drama. Ya que te muestran lo valioso que son los lazos familiares y que ser diferente (aunque desconozcas que seas diferente), te da un lugar especial y único en la familia, con suma importancia. Y la felicidad de cada integrante se vuelve valiosa. Acá tocan muchos temas, romance, acción, drama pero lo que más me gusta es el que se desarrolla como lazo familiar, a pesar de no ser una familia unida por parentesco de sangre, sino que cada uno de ellos es adoptado por un hombre bueno con un pasado oscuro, con el fin de vivir una vida mejor, dejando un legado que valiera la pena recordar, adoptó a estos 3 chicos y conformó una de las familias más lindas del universo del animé.

Another aspect that I really liked about this series is its musical themes. In particular, the song Colors of the Heart. Although I don't know the full meaning of the lyrics, this song is special to me because I really liked its rhythm and it also allowed me to understand several Japanese words. In addition, the other songs, both the opening and ending themes, are in tune with each season in terms of the characters' evolution, the sacrifices each of them must make, along with the emotion, suspense, and drama of each season.

Otro de los aspectos que me gustó bastante de esta serie, son sus temas musicales. En especial la canción Colors of the Heart, aunque desconozco el significado completo de su letra, para mí esta canción es especial porque me gustó bastante su ritmo y también me permitió entender varias palabras en japonés. Además, las demás canciones, tanto los openings como sus endings van acordes a cada temporada, esto en cuanto a la evolución de los personajes, los sacrificios que deben llevar a cabo cada uno de ellos, junto con la emoción, el suspenso y el drama de cada temporada.

Finally, I can't help but mention the multiple twists and turns in the story that unfold throughout its 50 episodes. Although it may be considered somewhat long for its time, the pace of the story remains solid and the narrative never feels heavy. Furthermore, there are no filler episodes; every chapter is important. And its design is so well done that even now, since its release in 2005, its quality remains intact and its story continues to captivate more than its better-known prequel, Blood: The Last Vampire.

Por último, no puedo dejar de hablar acerca de los múltiples giros de la historia que se van generando a lo largo de sus 50 episodios y que a pesar de que puede considerarse algo larga para su época, su ritmo en la historia se mantiene sólido y su narrativa no se siente pesada en ningún momento. Además no tiene episodios de relleno, cada capítulo es importante. Y su diseño de dibujo está tan bien hecho que para el tiempo que tiene desde el 2005 cuando salió, aún mantiene intacta su calidad y su historia sigue atrapando más que su precuela mejor conocida como Blood: The Last Vampire.

We only long for what we don't have. The film “My Oxford Year” captures all these aspects of life. Above all, it conveys a great message of friendship, family, and love. Cada quien interpreta a su manera, la vida y el amor, al final solo nos queda lo que hemos vivido, ni mas ni menos. lo que sí es cierto es que todo se acaba en un segundo y por eso no se debe desperdiciar. Quizás, las personas lo entienden cuando ya no queda nada por hacer. Aunque crean que son temas fastidiosos, es una realidad. En un instante todo se termina y quien no ha vivido ni se ha arriesgado a amar, temo decirle que se jodieron, ya no habrá vuelta atrás.

El ser humano no entiende ni le interesa entender de qué se trata la vida, y a qué venimos a este planeta. Yo no lo sé todavía, a veces creo que lo sé y después no es así como yo lo pienso. Cabe preguntarse si sobrevivir, vivir sin amor, exigir perfección, estar pendiente del reloj y de una agenda, vale la pena. El ser humano vive planificando y poniendo orden en su vida y ¿para qué? Si es destino, o como lo quieran llamar, algunas veces decide por nosotros. Creo que hay que aprovechar el presente, aunque algo trillado, pero en fin es lo que tenemos. La vida a veces nos "bataquea" tan fuerte, que no da tiempo a nada. El que no tiene esperanzas de vida, desea en un segundo hacer de todo y aprovechar al máximo. En ese instante, se desea tener un botón especial que permita retroceder el tiempo, cerrar ciclos y decir palabras que en su momento no se dijeron. También se quiere vivir de “sopetón” y todo a la vez. Por el contrario, el que lo tiene todo desperdicia el tiempo y no construye momentos. Por duro que sea y difícil de aceptar, los seres humanos somos así. Solo añoramos lo que no se tiene. En el filme “My Oxford Year”, se plasman todos estos aspectos de la vida. Sobre todo, un gran mensaje de amistad, de la familia y de amor. Ese amor, que está esperando donde menos se lo imaginan. Oh la la A Ana de nada le sirvió tener su vida planificada, la vida le tenía otros planes para ella a conoció a Jamie y lo que comenzó como una diversión se convirtió en amor. Este ano aprendió a amar una cultura y a hacer todo por la persona que se ama. Sobre todo, aceptar y respetar las decisiones de los demás, más aún cuando a esa persona quien amamos. ¿Qué ocasiono este cambio trascendental en Anna? Les invito a ver esta linda y emotiva película en Netflix, también a conocer excéntricos personajes como Charlie y a Maggy.

A pesar de que el tema es algo fuerte, pues es una realidad difícil de asumir, pues cuando la vida se escapa y no se puede hacer nada, no hay nada que pueda consolar al ser humano. Lloré mucho por el dolor de los padres. Sin embargo, el filme es bellísimo. Todas las interpretaciones son magistrales, como siempre excelentes. Sobre todo, Ana y Jamie, una pareja con mucha química y simpatía.

Además, del paisaje inglés, se disfruta de la belleza de la universidad de Oxford y de sus espacios más famosos como la biblioteca. Me gusta y se las recomiendo, pero como siempre les digo, entre gustos y colores, este género romántico es mi preferido. Y preparen su pañuelito y un hombro para llorar. Fue dirigida por Iain Morris y estrenada en el año 2025, en Netflix. Es una comedia romántica que dura una hora y cincuenta minutos. Es un filme que reafirma que hay que dejar partir a los seres que amamos, y además aprender que el tiempo no espera por nadie. Aunque no lo crean, hay que disfrutar y compartir los momentos.
